Broken Age is a charming little adventure that feels like opening a storybook you forgot you owned. The art is gorgeous, the characters are delightful and the puzzles are… well, sometimes just confusing. Act 1 had me hooked, Act 2 occasionally had me googling. Still, it’s a cozy, heartfelt ride worth taking, just don’t expect every thread to tie up as neatly as the knitting grandma would like.

I don't even know how I remembered this game, but I downloaded it anyways. I love the story and mechanic of the game, playing two people in the same timeline is something I need to see a lot more often because it gives different perspective of characters who wants one thing which is breaking off tradition and embracing change for something better, thus naming the game Broken Age. And the worldbuilding of this game is something to admire for, like people from Sugar Bunting, Meriloft, Shellmound, Loruna, and even the Plague Dam can show how different beliefs are distributed to people

I agree with a lot of the comments that say the puzzles were REALLY difficult, switching back and forth and memorizing things like the wiring of hexigals are REALLY REALLY frustrating. But I guess that what makes them unique in a way honestly, its frustrating to find hints on how the puzzles works and makes me even search A LOT for me to finish this game.

Besides that, this game has been a childhood joy for me and I hope they continue to make games like this in the near future.

it has been 12 years and i replayed this game so many time since i was a kid. Replaying and understanding things i didn't before is so refreshing. I love this game so much i wish the developers will consider making a sequel one day; especially showing more interactions between Shay and Vella. I feel like there's a lot to work with to make that happen, like knowing more about the boss and what happened to him and Levine(?) and what they might still be up to, but this time Shay and Vella working together. I love them so much this game means everything to me.
Only thing though is the puzzles might be a bit obscure, but it's hard for me to say because (like I said) i played the game so much when i was a kid when Act 1 first released (and eventually Act 2) that i actually have the solutions to the puzzles memorized/ingrained even after all these years.

Este juego me encantó en su conjunto. Es una obra muy sólida dividida en actos donde empiezas con dos personajes sin aparente vinculación pero al que la trama los va uniendo poco a poco, como hacen los buenos guiones. Es un juego de aventura gráfica un poco clásico para bien y para mal, pero no es especialmente difícil con pistas que ayudan en caso de "atasco". Al tener dos mundos con dos personas carismáticos el juego no se hace nada pesado y cada uno de ellos es divertido a su manera, aunque guardo mejores recuerdo del mundo "futuro". En mi caso lo disfruté mucho, especialmente la historia y su arte y creo que es de las mejores aventuras gráficas de la década pasada.

Voilà un joli jeu avec un graphisme original c'est bien fait coloré girly mignon, la musique est aussi plaisante (elle me fait penser à Predator dans le vaisseau) mais au bout d'une heure à faire des actions linéaires d'un niveau maternelle on commence à s'ennuyer fort... Le garçon est tellement naïf ç'en devient consternant, la fille s'en sort à peine mieux... Malheureusement comment recommander un tel jeu? à faire comme une "aventure" graphique? peut-être mais impossible de suivre sans décrocher rapidement tellement ça manque d'intérêt on sait pas ce qu'on fout là au final... avec ses enfants? j'essaierai... bref une grosse déception, un jeu inrejouable, c'est vraiment dommage l'univers visuel est bien plaisant. Regardez le en streaming mais pas plus, ne l'achetez pas

I'm really sad & do regret buying, I was looking forward when this game came out. The story is disappointing, unsatisfying/incomplete and puzzle killed playability with long unnecessarily repeating backtracking, lack of cues/ no instructions what do next. Do not recommend buying game. This is the only game I felt you're better off watching a playthrough if you're really curious about the story.

DISCLAIMER: I am a backer of Broken Age from back in the day. I played the first half back when it was originally released. This time around I played through it again and made at least another achievement/speedrun playthrough.

It is a solid game. It feels like an old school LucasArts adventure game. Puzzles are either easy or a bit weird. A lot of talking to characters is needed. The story is fun and one would almost want a sequel. The art is charming and has the typical Double Fine feeling.
Highly recommended.

Tim Schafer's games from his time at LucasArts are some of my favorite games of all time.
[i][b]Monkey Island[/b][/i], [i][b]Day of the Tentacle[/b][/i], [i][b]Full Throttle[/b][/i] and [i][b]Grim Fandango[/b][/i] are all amazing games I love to play and replay to this day.
However, every game he has made since has just been a swing-and-miss for me. This was true for the highly acclaimed [i][b]Psychonauts[/b][/i] and [i][b]Brutal Legend[/b][/i], and unfortunately, it's true with this game.

[b]The Story & World[/b]
As a Quest/Adventure game, I feel it completely lacks an engaging or interesting story. To be honest, the first interesting thing in the game didn't happen until the end of Act 1.
Everything before that felt like a somewhat boring kid's game.

The premise is not explained well, and character motivations are baffling. It is very much unclear why they act the way they do.
Even after the game ends, we (the audience) are left without a real understanding of what actually happened or why.

The graphics look very juvenile to me. It feels like a game designed for elementary school kids.

[b]The Gameplay[/b]
The game feels needlessly long. It suffers from:

Pretty good old timey point and click adventure. Compared to a lot of the older games, most of the puzzles actually make sense, and can mostly be solved without googling (or in case of the classics, waiting for next months gaming magazine )

I wouldn't say it's the best point and click game by any means. I will say it has much more character than most games being released today and it's worth a try. Also one of the best cast of voice actors I have see in a game.

This game... Isn't good.

The puzzles are annoying and/or obtuse. A lot of which are just navigating dialog trees in the exact correct way.

The story starts out strong, but it just kind of ends with a lot things not being expanded upon. It almost seems like this was a game written for children, as in really little children. Various degrees of plot holes litter the whole story, but the ending is especially bad. During this ending, key events are brought up for mere moments and never expanded upon. It's almost as if this game was meant to have a third act, but they ran out of money and compressed it together with the finale. The dialog writing isn't great either. It again, seems like something made for kids. I am not quite sure how to describe it, but the best I can do is: It just kinda does whatever it wants, especially with the ending.

It has a lot of intriguing ideas, and a bit of genuinely funny moments... But at the end of the day. I think it wastes a of your time. I spent nearly 11 hours on this game, and probably about 5 of those are legit just bumbling around and rubbing together every permutation of interactables.

Суміш усього цього часто викликає посмішку. Дуже цікаво спостерігати за двома паралельними історіями, які, на перший погляд, здаються зовсім різними.

Мене особисто гра зачіпила з перших хвилин. Один з головний героїв [b]Шай[/b] з народження подорожує у космосі. Однак, з часом стає зрозуміло, що він кожен день рятує іграшкових персонажів та сам корабель взагалі начебто іграшковий. Інша героїня [b]Велла[/b] готується до свята, де вона буде головною героїнею. Її сімʼя дуже нею пишається та підтримує її. Однак, усі знають, що це жертвоприношення юної дівчинки. Розбиратись чому ці світи так працюють дуже цікаво.

Єдиний мінус - у другому акті складність квестів інколи стає [i]трохи неадекватною[/i]. Доводилося лізти в гайди, бо я просто задовбався тикатись всюди навмання. Але якщо ви любите цікаві сюжети і готові потерпіти класичні "квестові затупи", то однозначно раджу спробувати.

I wanted to like it, but it just felt like a mediocre point and click game with some high profile voice actors and decent art. There are much better point and click games out there, so it would be a shame to play this over them.

I liked the documentary about the game much more than the actual game, which I don't know if that's a good thing or not. It was interesting following the development on kickstarter and I got a t-shirt and everything. Though the physical box never arrived for some reason? It was rather odd.

I grew up playing the Deponia games and in my experience only a few select games can compare. But this game instantly made me fall in love with its characters and its story.

It had some fun and unique twists, the puzzles were mostly fun and I loved exploring the world the characters live in.

It is a good game. Starts off a bit boring and slow, but it gets more interesting. However, the ending is full of horrible puzzles and it completely stops any fun you'd have with the game, not being able to process the story without searching up guides because the puzzles simply do not make any sense and will straight up reset progress on you. Broken Age è un punta e clicca con uno stile unico, nel gioco utilizzeremo 2 personaggi con la loro relativa storia, quella di Vella Tartine, una ragazza prescelta per essere sacrificata per il bene del villaggio e quella di Shay Volta, un ragazzo che vive su una nave spaziale governata da una IA eccessivamente protettiva. Nel gioco sarà possibile passare da un personaggio a l'altro in qualsiasi momento risolvendo enigmi lungo tre atti. Lo stile grafico è sicuramente gradevole e gli enigmi abbastanza semplici (per via dei pochi oggetti a nostra disposizione e delle pochissime location).

PREGI:

La possibilità di giocare due storie indipendenti è sicuramente una bella trovata
Il secondo atto è il migliore con una buona varietà/tipologia di enigmi
Racconta due belle storie, che sono destinate ad incrociarsi con il proseguo dell'avventura.

DIFETTI:

Il primo atto è troppo semplice, il terzo è troppo caotico e sbrigativo
Gli ambienti di gioco sono decisamente troppo piccoli e sempre gli stessi
Per via degli eventi/situazione bizzarre, la storia non è sempre scorrevole
Finale che non mi è piaciuto, sbrigativo ed inconcludente.

VOTO: 7

Gioco discreto, non fa sicuramente parte della lista delle mie avventure grafiche preferite (dove metto i vari Monkey Island, Sam & Max, Broken Sword e tutte le varie avventure della Lucas), sia come enigmi, come storia e come si conclude è tutto abbastanza nella media, consigliato soprattutto per la possibilità di giocare due avventure in contemporanea (anche se avrei preferito maggiori connessioni tra loro).

Optisch ist es sehr schön gestaltet Objekte, die Interaktionen zulassen, sind über den Mausindikator gut einsehbar.
Die Rätsel sind nicht kompliziert und erfordern eigentlich nur ein wenig Zuhören bei den Kommentaren der Figuren.
Auch wenn das Spiel für Kinder ist, ist klar ersichtlich, dass auch Erwachsene mit einbezogen werden sollten mit ein wenig unanstößigen Erwachsenen-Humor.

Es ist lustig und nicht zu schwer. Schaut ruhig mal rein.

Hikâye fikri güçlü başlıyor ve merak uyandırıyor; ancak ilerledikçe temposu düşüyor. Özellikle ikinci yarıda bulmacalar ya fazla basit kalıyor ya da yapay şekilde uzatılmış hissi veriyor. Bu da oyunun akışını yer yer baltalıyor.

Seslendirme kadrosu çok iyi, müzikler oyuna ruh katıyor. Ne var ki oynanış tarafında beklenen derinliği sunamıyor; daha çok “izlenen” bir deneyime dönüşüyor.

Kısacası: Broken Age, sanatsal açıdan güçlü ama oynanış ve tempo açısından ortalarda kalan bir macera.
Türü sevenler için denenir, ama beklentiyi çok yükseltmemek gerek.

童年回忆，当时只有第一章，玩到最后心痒痒的一直记到现在。没想到时隔多年来搜索居然上了steam，打折个位数就拿下了。后续的剧情个人感觉很惊艳，虽然解谜提示非常少，容易卡关，但美术没得说，细节也做得很丰富，时不时有一些搞笑的part给我乐得不行。主要是给童年补了票，无论如何都要好评。个人来说是非常完美的游戏体验。

Game was cute to play, and I loved it. Some of the puzzles were a little harder (the hexagonials) or ceirtin timed puzzles which I didn't struggle too much on amd becomes easy with the soulution. I think the story is great, you may have to pay attention to the story to understand (but isn't thay how it works with most games.?). This game desrves some love in my opinon, and I am glad that at least some youtubers played it.

Frustrating.

I love the schaferverse. I like this game's art, characters, voice acting, story.

The adventure game puzzles are frustrating and not fun to me. Some of them are somewhat intuitive. Many are not. I quickly get bored trying to hit a target i cant even see, and so i look up the solution. Sometimes even when you know what to do, it's not fun to do it.

I'd rather watch someone play through it so you get all the fun and none of the frustration.

Unfortunately i cant recommend.

This game is a point and click game with beautiful art style and great voice acting.
There are 2 stories side by side and you need to complete both and you can switch between them. Each story tied to a different character by from the same time and universe.
You need to solve puzzles sometimes and pick up and use items.
There is nice background music, save system, subtitles and the game has a decent amount of content.
Nothing crazy here but it's a lovely game.

(short version)
I absolutely dislike point-n-click adventures, and I thought I found one that I'd love, until I hit act two. Then they doubled down on the typical point-n-click sins. (overly complicated puzzles, grindy non-adventure, and pointless activities). All to pad out time instead of capitalize on the amazing story they were telling. The game ceased being fun around mid Act 2, and I'm 110% done especially after seeing that there are more pointless endeavors ahead.

(long version)
Amazing visual style, enchanting narrative and interesting puzzle based adventure (at least in act 1). Unfortunately the enchantment is broken around mid act 2, with further promises of frustration. Worth it at $15 if you love point-n-clicks.

The good: The visuals, the music, and the story (when you're being immersed in the story) even the earlier puzzles. Even if they are easy it doesn't feel cheap or annoying, because usually you can figure them out without some nonsense attached to them.

The bad: Act 2 decides it no longer wants to be a point-n-click adventure where you can solve things on your own without being led by the nose, and decides it wants to be the type of point-n-click adventure where you need to find advanced guides, and have paper, and/or graphs near by. Because for some reason they felt their story wasn't good enough anymore. Beyond disappointing, my end rank is not recommended over my earlier one because Broken age had me really excited to play it, until it became an immersive breaking pain in the butt. I'll Youtube the ending.

I've been wanting to play this game since I got it in a humble bundle and I just didn't get to it until now, and wow I wish I had earlier. An absolute diamond in the desert of gaming, 100% recommended, $15 is a perfect price point. Yeah it's a point and click adventure, but this one draws me in so much faster and deeper than day of the tentacle did, and that game received overwhelming positive reviews. No long review needed give this game a try.

A hidden gem. I don't know why this game didn't get more recognition. Interesting plot (and twists), good dialogues, great sense of humor (some jokes only adults will understand), nice visuals, excellent voice acting and charismatic characters.

The only drawbacks I see are:
-ending that feels not an ending at all. There should have been 3 act,
-puzzles in the second act are sometimes very hard (like in the old point and click games) and without a playthrough it would be a pain to end this game.

The art is gorgeous, like i want posters of every part of the game.
The puzzles are clever and fun.
Vella and Shay’s stories pulled me in so fast and I played it like 100 times and I can't get enough of them or the other NPCs.
It’s become my favorite game of all-time.
The UX UI is perfect!

[h1]Guidance without handholding[/h1]

The game is really really good at guiding players towards what they need without being too obvious about it. There was a point where I was playing and I happened to notice a random object in the background that was just sitting there inconspicuously, and I realized I probably needed this for a puzzle (for people who've played the game before, what I'm referring to specifically is [spoiler]the picture of Shay and his parents that contains the shapes you need to match up to fix one of those little robots, and my eyes landed on it and I realized I had seen those shapes before somewhere else[/spoiler]), and at the time all I thought was "It sure is a good thing I randomly noticed this, because if I had missed that, I probably would have been stuck for hours", but in retrospect, it probably wasn't pure luck I noticed it, but very likely the game designers had done a perfect job balancing making it visible enough to be noticed but not so visible that it feels like the game is just giving you the answer. They probably had made sure that the camera positioning made the object prominent while still clearly focusing on the other stuff in the scene that we're "supposed to" be looking at so that it doesn't feel like this thing in the background has suddenly had a spotlight thrust on it.

On a similar note, the game is also pretty good at explaining to you the mechanics of the puzzles without just giving away the answers because of it. For example, this isn't a real puzzle in the game but I'm just making it up for illustrative purposes (It's [i]very[/i] loosely based on a real thing in the game where [spoiler]at one point Marek unlocks a door for us by pressing a button and thereby subtly teaches us that that button controls that door, which matters because we later need to use the button to lock the door again and we'll only think to do that if we even know what the button does in the first place, and so the game did an excellent job teaching us how the button worked without making it obvious it was trying to teach us anything, but in the moment that scene felt 100% natural and you'd never think anything special was happening at all[/spoiler], but I should say for anybody who didn't read the spoiler, my version isn't as well polished as what actually occurs in the game, so you shouldn't take it as a sign that the game's actual teachings are that clunky, but the actual stuff in the game is better), but it would be like if at one point one of the items we needed to acquire was a wrench, so we ask one of the NPC's if he happens to have a wrench and he digs around in his pockets muttering to himself "Let's see, my hammer, my saw, ah, here it is, my wrench!" and then he hands it to us, and maybe there's a minor joke here about how he can fit so much into his pockets or something, but the point is it doesn't seem particularly meaningful at the time, but then a little later in the game the guy loses his pants in a teleporter accident, and this is right around the time we need to find a cutting tool for a puzzle, and so we're supposed to think back to what we heard before and say "Didn't that guy have a saw in his pants?" and so we seek out where his pants were left behind and retrieve the saw from them without the game ever just looking us dead in the eye and telling us what we need to do.

Those are the two big things I can think of, but honestly there are probably 100 other moments where the game perfectly leads you that I just never noticed, because that's the entire point, and when the game is doing its job right, you don't even know it's doing anything at all.

Of course, not [i]every[/i] single puzzle was perfect, and I had to use a guide a couple of times for puzzles that were just too hard for me or in at least one case where the whole thing was just really unintuitive (Who expects players to [spoiler]Just stand there and let a snake squeeze them until it passes out[/spoiler] when the whole time the game has been telling us [spoiler]we need to blow a horn thing to get it off[/spoiler]? And I suppose it was supposed to be hinted at because [spoiler]Shay had a snake toy when he was little or got hug attacked all the time[/spoiler], but was I actually supposed to take that seriously? It seemed too silly to be relevant), but these were by far the exception rather than the rule, and 90% of the game hit what I felt was a perfect sweet spot of being not too easy but not too hard.

[h1]The story and stuff[/h1]

Regarding the story and stuff, it was nice, I guess, and it was by no means a super heavy comedy, but it had some jokes in it and it made me laugh a couple times, and I admit I was a little bored with the plot before the big reveal at the halfway point, but then it picked up for me after I got a more complete idea of what was going on.

The ending, admittedly, reaches more of an an emotional or a thematic conclusion than a practical one, stopping when [spoiler]our two main characters who have been separate this whole game first properly meet[/spoiler], and there are a lot of questions either left open or glossed over about how exactly everything is going to work out long term, but personally, I was satisfied with it, and honestly I was more concerned with the emotional bittersweet ending and how they killed off my favorite character, and [spoiler]Shay's little robot Grabbin' Gary[/spoiler] dies in a heroic final act, but I guess he's [spoiler]Grabbin'[/spoiler] up in Heaven now.

[h1]My only major issue[/h1]

The only thing that really, really bothered me in this game was that you can't skip individual lines of dialogue: You can skip entire chunks of a conversation (Say, four or five lines at once, though the exact amount varies wildly depending on the specific chunk), or you can skip nothing, but there's no in between, and it was annoying for me personally because I didn't want to miss 80% of the game but I also much prefer to just read the subtitles and then advance to the next line rather than actually sitting through the entire voice clip every single time, but honestly if I had to guess, the game was probably meant to be played optimally without subtitles since there's a puzzle that involves sound that I feel works better with them off than on, and so I guess this might just be a "me" problem, but as someone who prefers reading through dialogue, this was kind of annoying.

[h1]Miscellaneous[/h1]

A couple of minor points, but I believe there's a small section of dialogue that you can't skip even though 99% of dialogue is skippable, and I assume that was intentional because that particular bit sets up a puzzle that's somewhat involved and the developers probably wanted to be sure players didn't accidentally skip that information or anything, or there was also another bit where after a long conversation where our heroes plan their next move, the game stops to recap our goals to make sure we actually know what we're supposed to be doing here, and I just appreciate it taking the time to make sure players aren't lost.

Also, there's a puzzle that could have easily involved a lot of backtracking, but the game just automatically teleports you back and forth between areas during it because they KNEW nobody wanted to trek back and forth ten times, and just in so many ways this game feels like it was made by people who actually know what it's like to play a game, and that feeling is a lot rarer than I wish it was, honestly.

Also, I was impressed how often something set up in the first half of the game would only pay off in the second half or how often something would be relevant for multiple unrelated puzzles, since my understanding is the game was released in at least two parts and they worked on the second half after the first one was already released, so I wonder if they had the entire game more or less planned out by the time the first half released.

its a good game, super gorgeous, the voice acting and the characters are amazing, but ive been softlocked in the hexipal puzzle and no matter what i do i cannot complete it. ive tried the guides and walkthroughs and cheat sheets and sheer brute forcing it, ive spent an hour on a ten minute puzzle. the rest of the game is great tho.

Visually nothing else like it. Entirely hand painted. Fully orchestrated score. Presentation is unique and of the highest quality. The visuals top out at 1440p but scaling to 4K shouldn't be bad.

Another casualty of Kickstarter. Backers were encouraged to submit ideas for levels, characters, and activities. The result is a game without consistency or flow. Sometimes you're in a forest with a hipster lumberjack; in another, a seaside with a mayor. The small scope of the game and these bite sized areas exasperate the awkwardness of the game's structure.

Double Fine was a small independent studio without big budgets and ran out of funds mid-development and decided to the release the game in two parts. Part 1 would help generate revenue to continue development and finish the game. Feedback on the first half of the game was it was way too easy and simple. When Part 2 came along they corrected hard in the opposite direction resulting in timed puzzles, more cryptic puzzle logic, and a jarring difficulty spike that could be off-putting to casual players.

The story makes little sense if you pay attention and has no arc. The twist and the ending kind of come out of nowhere lacking any payoff to the nonexistent character development or coherent theme.

It still holds up pretty well with good pacing and reasonable puzzle logic, and that’s probably because he only co-directed. I finished the game. I shouldn't have.

The gameplay is frustrating. Randomly click the environment and combine items until you stumble upon the solution. There are many places where it's possible to lose progress and have to redo things. No hints if you get stuck.
The voice acting is flat. The animation is distracting. The characters have no appeal.
The twist is compelling, I guess, but that's the only good thing.
The final climax was awful. It took me so many tries to do everything in the right sequence that all the tension was lost. It feels like you're fighting the game instead of the enemy.

Worst of all, I just don't care about the characters. I can't imagine anyone drawing fanart or obsessing over any of them.

original Kickstarter backer. 15$ basic level, so I got what I paid for (if late..), the download key, so we're good.
The game is clunky at points, but as a veteran of Sierra and Lucasfilm/arts in the 80s and 90s, this is fine. If you enjoyed those games back then, you will enjoy this one as well. my then 7y/o boy loved it and learned a lot of English through it, so that's extra points. Not sure how I racked up those hours, my kid must have left it on over night or something, pretty just I did not play it for 100+ hours, esp. since we played most of it on the iPad, much more convenient than on the PC/Mac. Having said that, buy it on the App Store for 5 bucks, not for 15 here.

Broken Age, l’ultima creazione di Tim Schafer e Double Fine, segue le vicende di Vella,
una fornaia destinata a un sacrificio, e Shay,
un ragazzo che vive in sicurezza a bordo di un’astronave iperprotettiva.
Le loro storie, apparentemente separate, si intrecciano più volte nel corso del gioco.

L’Atto 1 aveva già introdotto lo stile grafico delizioso,
la colonna sonora eccellente e dialoghi ben recitati,
ma gli enigmi risultavano semplici e lasciava la sensazione
di un assaggio più che di un’avventura completa.

Con l’Atto 2, però, Broken Age mostra il suo pieno potenziale.
Gli enigmi diventano più complessi e divertenti, con elementi “Monkey Island”
come prove di barzellette, nodi intricati, enigmi a tempo e un climax finale più articolato.
La quantità di dialoghi permette di esplorare ogni scena più volte,
scoprendo commenti nuovi e divertenti.

Non mancano piccoli difetti:
alcuni enigmi sfruttano la conoscenza del giocatore più che la logica interna del mondo di gioco,
rompendo in parte l’immersione.
La traduzione italiana è buona e rende bene giochi di parole e battute, con pochi refusi.

Nel complesso, Broken Age – Atto 2 ripaga ampiamente l’attesa.
Con enigmi stimolanti ma mai frustranti,
personaggi ben caratterizzati e l’irresistibile umorismo tipico di Schafer,
conferma il talento di Double Fine nel creare avventure grafiche moderne e coinvolgenti.

박살난 시대.
말 그대로 외계인에게 박살난 이후의 시대다.

뭔가 말도 안되는 오버테크놀로지가 돋보이는데,
일단 소년의 배경 부터가 지구인의 기술로 만든것 같지는
않다는 느낌 정도는 충분히 예상할 수 있다.
이불이 투명하니까...

0. 게임은 안한글이라 한글패치 있으면 적용하는거 추천하고,
대화에는 퍼즐의 힌트가 될만한 줄거리가 포함돼 있다 보니,
가능한 모든 선택지를 골라보는게 좋다 보니,
퍼즐을 푸는데 어려움이 있을 수 있어서, 종종 공략을 보기도 한다.
(머시나리움 처럼 공식 공략집이라도 있는것도 아니니)

하지만, 영어 기초 수준이라도 대충 뭘 해야 하는지 정도는 알 수 있다.
하지만, 선택지가 적지 않고, 대화량도 많아서
플레이타임이 많이 늘어나다 보니,
결국 스페이스바를 연타하는 자신의 모습을 볼 것이다.

1. 셰이와 밸라

모가지 백로 처럼 길고 고간이 넓고 허벅지가 얇아서 고자펀치 날리기 좋은
셰이는 이름만 들어도 딱 중국어가 생각나는데,
"你是谁?" (Ni shi shei?) -> 너 누구니? 라고 질문하면
"是!" (ㅇ!)으로 대답할것 같다.

과잉보호 당하는 강남 스타일이라 그런지,
치마폭에서 벗어나고 싶은 모습을 충분히 예상할 수 있었는데,
줄곧 감시당하며 살아왔기 때문에,
딸을 칠 수 있는 사생활은 눈꼽만큼도 없었다 보니,

알고 보면 아주 불쌍한 년이였다.
샤워할때 마져도 로봇으로 씻을 정도면,
로봇의 카메라로 쟤 꽈추 까지 다 털렸을 테니, 말 다한거다.

그래서 산에서 떨어지는 상황을 즐기는걸 보면, 보통이 아니였고,
환기구도 거리낌 없이 들어가는걸 보면, 맛이 간거고,
뱀에게 조여도, 처음으로 경험하는 사생활이라,
그 상황을 즐겨야 하다 보니, 결국 뱀을 실신시키기도 한다.

그래서 복숭아나무 근처에서 실컷 낙하시켜서
스릴을 마음껏 즐기게 해줄 수 있다.

벨라는 시골의 촌녀인데, 마을에 이상한 풍습이 있었다 보니,
마을의 재물이 되기 싫어하는 모습을 볼 수 있었다.

벨라도 결코 평범한건 아닌데,
구름나라의 사다리를 황금알로 박살내면서 가정집 지붕 박살내고,
혹시나 해서 도끼를 가져가는것 부터 평범하지 않고,
나무토막 가공한걸 굳이 나무에게 보여주는것도 가학적이고,
시장과 인어들에게 오물을 뿌리는걸 보면 악동 그 자체다.
그래서 나무가 벨라 포스터만 봐도 토나오는건 이해할 수 있다.

할미는 외계인인건 어느 정도 예상은 갔었다.[/spoiler]

1막은 谁쪽이 진행이 더 수월한 편이라,
1막의 마지막 까지는 그럭저럭 진행할 수 있었지만,

벨라 쪽은 초반에 칼을 찾는데도 애를 먹었을 정도다.

2막 부터는 양쪽 모두 난이도가 좀 있어서,
결국 공략을 보기도 했었다.

근데 솔직히 결말은 이해가 안갔다.

Honestly I really liked this game, but it's probably because I'm one of the only people who can excuse a weaker story in p&c adventure if the item puzzles(and regular puzzles) aren't too hard/confusing, so I can understand some negative reviews pov, since the game does have flaws

So what are the positives? Well almost everything in Act 1 for both characters stories is a positive, not just gameplay. But the gameplay is especially good. It's hard to describe, but basically almost all solutions are either easy to figure out due to being logical, or telegraphed by characters leaving out obvious hints on what to do. Also what little puzzles were in Act 1 were also easy as pie, it can almost be categorized as a cozy game in it's feel, and be recommended for anyone new to p&c adventure genre.

The stories themselves are also amazing in act 1, it's plural, since you get two stories in one game, one story for each character, Vella and Shay. And what's great and unique about this is that they're build like mystery plot, the way the stories are written, makes the player want to learn more about the world, about the mystery for each character. Also while supporting cast aren't the most funny or memorable, they still are charming and serve the purpose to the story nicely. You genuinely get to go on a decent journey and meet a whole slew of characters(or at least for Vella)

So, if the game is so great from the get go, what are the downsides? Well, it all kinda gets worse in Act 2(and Act 2.5 aka big finale for both). And I do mean everything gets a little worse, sure graphics seem to still be high quality, but that's because, a LOT of the setting gets reused! I won't spoil how much and where, since it'll be a spoiler, but it's more than half of the all map assets and characters reused in Act 2...

Which is a downside that also make atmosphere/lore of the world feel more dull. After starting Act 2, the world felt smaller to me, way less mysteries to solve, Gameplay also got worse, with now certain puzzle solutions being a bit confusing and potentially requiring tons of inventory item clicking due to moon logic, heck even paying attention to dialogue sometimes isn't enough. And Act 2 even introduced the problem that didn't remotely exist in Act 1, the need to switch off to another character to solve the puzzle for another. It's especially bad since in Act 1, you CAN play through the entire story as either Vella or Shay and only switch to playing as another when their act 1 comes to an end, but not in Act 2, which can mean some players may get stuck in Act 2, assuming that the solution for, say Vellas map puzzle must exist in her section of the game, but it's not... It's in Shay's section.

And this problem gets even worse in Act 2.5, where you have to constantly switch characters around and, a certain NPC/item who acts as a mink puzzle, gets reused a ton by both of them. And Act 2.5 doesn't just underdeliver in gameplay like Act 2 did, it also underdelivers on it's own by giving us a very underwhelming ending. It just kinda ends abrupts, a few big elephants in the room get unaddressed(like certain antagonists not being dealt with) but most importantly, it just feels like there was supposed to be act 3 after this, and maybe it should've been since Act 2 felt a lot like a rehash of act 1, with barely any story development or new environments, and a lot of story beats or environments/characters got reused. It just, didn't feel like an *adventure* like how say Broken Swords game feel.

This puts Broken Age in a weird spot for me, Act 1 starts strong, really strong, especially on Vella's side, a 9/10 strong, but then Act 2 starts at around 8/10 and slowly gets more dull with reuses of the environment, story barely progressing, same characters being reused, antagonists being weak, puzzles getting worse and less logical, and puzzles requiring you to use knowledge from one character with another(while, not preparing the player to do so in Act 1) on top of having very underwhelming ending.

Can I recommend this game? If you never got spoiled on Broken Age twists(that's another thing about the game, if you know the plot twist of Broken Age, story loses half of the appeal), and you like laid back kinda chill stories, with low stakes or villains not being that menacing and (mostly) fair puzzles, then maaaaybe, but only on a high discount. But if you know about the plot twists, and are usually more into story being main appeal of p&c adventure over gameplay, then you will likely be severely let down by the games weaker second half of story, especially finale feeling unfinished.

I was one of the backers of this game on KickStarter and was very disappointed with the end result. Yet another artsy game with very little substance. None of the elements that make classic point-and-click adventures so interesting (setting, characters, writing, puzzles) are particularly good here. In fact, the story is very crude and the characters are rather primitive. Neither does this game have any innovations that go beyond the basics of the genre.
