I really appreciated the movement mechanics in Boomerang X. The game is really pushes these mechanics about as far as they can go in its short run time and it felt fun to become proficient in the game's systems. If you're looking for a short-and-sweet experience and you enjoy movement shooters, you should pick up Boomerang X.

Boomerang X is one of my favorite movement shooters(?) of all time. In a genre I love, it stands out as a quick, action packed, mechanically rewarding title with a low point of entry and a near infinite skill ceiling. The game is redownloading as I write this so that I can go back and achievement hunt, which I rarely do. Do yourself a favor and at least try out the demo.

Por enquanto só zerei o modo história, mas o jogo é realmente muito bom, apesar de parecer que não ao testar as habilidades elas complementam a gameplay MUITO bem, é um jogo com uma movimentação muito boa e satisfatório, além do jogo ser desafiador na medida certa a unica coisa ruim é que o jogo é um pouco curto.

Recomendo muito, principalmente se estiver em promoção.

Além disso queria relatar um bug, nada muito ruim não, no tutorial da habilidade agulha eu não conseguia "ativar" a habilidade e passar do tutorial, mas é só sair e reentrar no jogo que resolve.

Estou editando a analise, pois percebi que isso não é um bug é só um erro que cometi na gameplay, o certo é usar uma outra habilidade para matar o numero certo de inimigos.

This is a brief game, so check out HowLongToBeat and decide whether you want to wait for a sale or full price. But it is pretty unique and doesn't overstay its welcome the way some one-trick pony indie games do. All the reviews talk about the slingshot mechanic and the arena combat but I feel like not many of them say that this is basically a FPS Bullet Hell game. Each level will have 3-6 enemies you have to kill to progress, another dozen or so that are active threats, but another 20+ that are just kind in your way and you slingshot around trying to kill those mandatory enemies. Most of which can only be hit from specific angles (e.g. from behind).

So the real challenge in the game is how well you can manage traversal with the slingshot and how good you are at hitting the enemy hitbox while both you and they are moving in different directions in 3-dimensional space.

To be honest, my skills are no longer quite up to the challenge (I'm old) and I hit my ceiling at Atsil's Quarry, the 9th of of 13 levels, with those laser eye ball things. The game has an invulnerability mode you toggle on if you want to see things through to the end but there's no real narrative here so unless you want to see the enemies there's not much point in persevering on once the game stops being fun for you.

But it is stylish and unique experience and often goes on sale so recommended nonetheless.

A good game to train flick stick control type Since it's pretty basic and force you to constantly do 180° and change direction.
It has native flick stick implementation, but you need to turn off stem input.

The only downside is that the game has too much verticality so you can often overshoot both with flick stick and mouse, so recalibrating on the fly can be quite annoying. If you are playing on mouse difficulty that is.

This game is fantastic. The marriage of movement and combat make for an extremely satisfying gameplay loop that is easy to learn and hard to master. It's impressive how intuitive the sling ability is, after like 2 minutes of using it I was flying around the stage as if I'd coded the thing myself. The visual presentation is a perfect example of less being more, with simplistic level and enemy design featuring minimal colours, which alongside the minimal HUD help with the clarity of the game; Despite darting around at high speeds it's never difficult to understand what is going on. With the main game being around 2 hours long on first playthrough it never overstays its welcome and the outstanding achievement design encourages you to improve beyond what the main levels expect from you

简而言之是一款有创意没深度的射击游戏，毕竟第一人称的回旋镖也不是在哪都能体验到。

我也知道有些游戏就不是为了“好玩”而去玩的，可能是为了新鲜感，可能是为了挑战，或是为了让自己维持在一定程度上的反应速度等等。但它的定位在乐趣舆硬核之间徘徊，最终让我感觉两头都很不讨好

[h1]乐趣而言[/h1]

[b]——人物性能很差：[/b]回旋镖脱手的时候，有两个选择，左键立马瞬移到回旋镖当前位置，右键立马将其召回手中，除此之外角色几乎什么也做不了。不仅没有二段跳、冲刺，连减缓坠落的滞空能力也没有，“空战”时就靠着不断原地瞬移来维持。无法脱离回旋镖的主角，让游戏的立意偏离了不少

[b]——技能不可累加：[/b]抛出回旋镖一次击杀两个敌人就能获得一发相当于霰弹枪的手里剑散射，但问题在于，你一次击杀4个敌人也是一发，你两次各击杀2个敌人也是一发，手里就只攥着一发，使得角色火力上限极低，打完这发就得四次逃窜找角度双杀。如果是可以叠加的话体验会高出好几个层次

[b]——射程有限：[/b]它是蓄力攻击，在手上抡越久，回旋镖就飞得越远。但我都全成就了，还没法辨清远处那个敌人到底能不能打到，射程非常模糊。蓄力满了就给人无限射程当狙用呗，十分小气，经常抡了半天甩出去，结果没打着又飞回来的无用功。

[b]——过度依赖时间减缓：[/b]我一直觉得时间停止、减缓这种能力只能是为了锦上添花，而本作中显得过于喧宾夺主了。后面的关卡每一发回旋镖都在时停，节奏十分拖沓

[h1]硬核而言[/h1]

绝大多数游戏都能要求玩家速通、无伤，但绝大多数游戏都没这么做，究其原因除了有没有必要，是否契合玩法，也看看自己配不配好吧。

[b]——糟糕的HUD：[/b]没有小地图就算了，起码做个雷达图吧，作为射击游戏完全不知道敌人在什么方位，无伤通关的过程中经历了无数次一转镜头直接贴脸的离谱死亡。

[b]——缺乏深度：[/b]我对它的定位是[url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/1139900/Ghostrunner/]幽灵行者[/url]、[url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/1533420/Neon_White/]Neon White[/url]这类快节奏，速杀，一击死的游戏类型。但相比这俩，本作落后太多，玩法单一，操作空间有限，靠着无限使用的时间减缓才得以在敌群中七进七出。

[h1]整体而言[/h1]

体验中等偏下，可以填补FPS中回旋镖类武器的空缺。但它只是从“回旋镖”这个创意点，发展到一条线，还没有到面的程度，于是显得深度不足，这既体现在流程很短，也体现在武器射程，无敌判定、敌人位置等不确定元素，给人一种水准一般还要求一堆的烦躁感。

El juego está bien hasta el último nivel, controles fluidos que premian la concentración con una estética interesante. for sure one of the more fun games I've played in a bit. visually one of the best looking games I've played to date. like sure its not hyper-realistic with 8k ultra HD path-traced graphics, but the stylization and "landscapes" are so beautiful.
The movement is top notch and leaves room for you to discover really interesting mechanics with your easy-to-use weapon.
it's also really well optimized with my performance not dipping when there's an insane amount of enemies around.
i can see myself doing multiple playthroughs in the future which is rare for any game i play
i definitely recommend
no, i didn't pay full price, id recommend waiting for any sale that makes you feel comfortable with spending money for a very unique experience

A movement/arena shooter where your only weapon is a magical boomerang. Fun, short game with satisfying movement, great art style, and good replayability with optional challenges.

Recommend on a sale, at $5 this game is a steal. Also check out the demo, gives you a great taste of the game.

This is a fun short game with a lot of potential playtime in mastering the movement and combat. Content wise the story mode is just long enough to fill around 2 ish hours for a new player and only really leaves you with a narrow understanding of the game's mechanics.

As for the story it is nothing groundbreaking. It relies a lot on show don't tell which works fine for the most part but I'd like a bit more exposition - maybe some lore texts somewhere in the game.

All in all you've grown bored with your movement shooter of choice then you should definitely give Boomerang X a try.

Insane how good this is. Extremely tight and unique combat. The campaign is super punchy and I was surprised just how many abilities there were. I wish there was more than just the 1 map in Endless mode, but the campaign is such a perfect length that it makes going back through on NG+ a treat on every replay.

I also want to give a special mention to the soundtrack, because the way it builds tension is genuinely fantastic. It really feels like it perfectly fits what's happening on-screen.

It's basically like a shooter game where shooting is really precise and at the same time you have to move with your shooting and understand the layer depth which is difficult due to how the game is structured

I just completed the base game, and it was phenomenal! The movement was awesome, all the mechanics built on each other and there was a high degree of strategy on what to use the abilities on. The main premise was amazing, the art and music was beautiful and the pacing was excellent. New mechanics fit well and kept the game feeling fresh. Rather than just new enemies, the arenas themselves also became more difficult to survive in.

The final boss fight felt easier than the last level for me and I would have liked for it to be just a tad more challenging, but I think i just got a bit lucky

Also, this game should definitely be in a bundle with KILLBUG as they are similarly themed, arena shooter with bugs.

Przeszedłem w tym tygodniu grę, która rzuciła wyzwanie -jeśli można tak to nazwać- mojemu recenzenckiemu etosowi. Zwykle traktuję gry jako dzieła sztuki i nie biorę pod uwagi ceny, za które są sprzedawane, to odbiorca oceni sam. Dziś jednak czuję się w obowiązku powiedzieć wam, że kampanię ukończyłem poniżej 2h a gra ma cenę bazową 92 zł. Oczywiście jest to nieadekwatne, zróbcie z tym co chcecie.

Tą grą jest Boomerang X i poniekąd rozumiem skąd ten krótki playtime. Mamy tu bowiem do czynienia z niesamowicie intensywnym i dynamicznym movement shooterem. Domyślam się, że w tym przypadku tworzenie zawartości dla gry jest bardzo trudne. Każdą handcrafted arenę możemy z odrobiną skilla przejść w kilka minut, a devom jej zrobienie zajmuje spory czas.

Jedno co mogę powiedzieć, to że moje doświadczenie z grą jakkolwiek krótkie było fantastyczne. Gra sukcesywnie wprowadza kolejne zdolności samego bumerangu i bez trudu załapałem o co chodzi. W efekcie możemy jednocześnie latać po mapie na lewo i prawo, nie dotykając w ogóle ziemi, jednocześnie mając uczucie dużej kontroli nad tym co się dzieje. Możemy bowiem po rzucie bumerangiem błyskawicznie się do niego przyciągnąć, ale możemy tez jednak zwalniać czas do przycelowania. Na pochwałę zasługują też projekty przeciwników, które premiują zarówno celność jak i positioning.

Oprawa audiowizualna nie jest tu kluczem, ale osobiście przypadła mi do gustu. Dobra stylizacja i klimat powiedzmy plemiennej ezoteryki stanowią dobre tło dla rozgrywki. Co jeszcze bardzo ważne poziomy i wrogowie są bardzo czytelni, kluczowy wymóg dla szybkiej i precyzyjnej gry. Został tu jak najbardziej spełniony.

Zostaje mi tylko powiedzieć, że przy Boomerang X bawiłem się świetnie. Gdyby nie ta cenowa rozbieżność pewnie nawet dałbym mu znak jakości. W obecnej sytuacji jednak to wciąż polecajka z gwiazdką, że warto poczekać na bundle lub dużą promocję.

An excellent and concise movement shooter. The unique environments and lore, the feeling of being drawn down a rabbit hole w/ a soundtrack that propels the player deeper. Every mechanic has its place and purpose, with a focus on tight moment to moment air-borne combat. The dev studio deserved better having to shut down after making a Grade A project like this. It is fairly short but there are many ways to challenge yourself in both the story and endless modes. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone who enjoys movement shooters.

legit such a smooth and colorful experience of a movement shooter. my only wish is that it was longer, like I feel like there could be so much to expand on in this game. the music is unbelivably underrated in this game. Ben Caulkins killed it with the tracks dynamically becoming more frantic and chaotic as the level continues. the absolutely titan shadow monsters drive this idea home pretty well too. screaming and crying as I run for my life from the giga moth that calls down heavenly warfare upon you.

btw this game is a REQUIREMENT if you have a 144hz or higher refresh rate monitor. treat yourself when this game goes on sale.

This game is seriously sick, the atmosphere, enemies, weapons, abilities, and other things just combine so well together. The enemies are also SO unique with each having its own function against the player, another thing is it feels sooo smooth. The gameplay flows well together with the combat. The only thing is that the controls are a little weird and difficult to adapt to. Other than that great game.

Pure, unfiltered, RAW gameplay; the dictionary definition of "All killer, no filler". Boomerang X is a game that knows how to do one thing, do it really well, and exactly what players want out of a game. Fast paced, tightly focused shooting gameplay that rewards speed and replayability. I'll never be good enough to speedrun this thing, but when it all clicks, you lock right in and feel like you're riding a razor's edge of boomerang shooting, teleportation and aerial focused gameplay. Masterful work, and I wish nothing but the best to the former developers at DANG! in future prospects.

It's pretty rare that I feel compelled to write a review but I had to for this one. What a fantastic game. I've been gaming for 35+ years and it is becoming increasingly uncommon to find a game that you can just jump right into without popup tutorials every 30 seconds, lore dumps of a D-tier story, uninspired fetchquests, and microtransactions ad nauseum.

This is a perfect example of a game that just lets you play. You get a consistent increase in power that climbs with the difficulty and the difficulty is perfectly balanced. Challenging but never frustrating.

QUE JOGO ABSURDO. A gameplay é muito dinâmica e a progressão com inimigos novos e poderes novos a cada fase é muito divertida. 这战斗系统是真的蠢到爆炸，后期引入好多需要多杀小怪积攒资源才能击杀的怪物，关键小怪又不是一直高速生成的，资源一旦被浪费一次就等吧，在空中飞到小怪再刷够为止；移动系统不符合直觉，也很麻烦，关键是操作这么麻烦也打不出什么炫酷爽的操作，真的意义不明。白瞎了美术。

There are serious issues in multi-monitor setups, but from old posts it seems the developer considers this a minor problem affecting only a small number of players, and has no intention to fix it. So either I have to unplug my extra monitors every time, or I just can’t play at all.

Other than that, the game itself is nice in every way.

***Edited Sep 24, 2025: Regarding the mouse not working in the menus, found a solution in the Steam community discussions: disabling the HID-compliant touch screen in Device Manager fixed the issue.
However, disabling this device also breaks EasyCanvas for me. In fact, the developer wouldn’t even need to fully fix this — just slightly adjust the menu logic in Endless Mode, since most other menus are still accessible via keyboard, but that part isn’t.

8.10通关评价：完美之作，随时飞到自己飞镖所在的位置、一直保持在空中的玩法令我非常享受，难度曲线合理，最终boss的设计很好地把玩法和设定结合到了一起，从头爽到尾，唯二缺点：
1.打完一关后想出门需要命中门上一个小红圈这是我游戏过程中最不流畅的环节完全可以把整个门都设定为判定范围
2.玩久了整个右臂都很累

This game felt like Superhot without the meta commentary
Pros:
- No strung out long story
- Each level felt SOO unique; each new level featuring
- distinct and different platforms and surroundings
- New abilities to use, increasing your power but not just in a numbers way
- Different enemy variety, more specifically the tougher 'boss' enemies in each round
- Very high replay value, even including a New Game + that changes the experience almost entirely
- MURDER MURDER MURDER

Cons:
- Game is short as hell (I only have 7 hours because left it open by accident)
- The healthpads were often more harmful then beneficial, I found on most levels later in the game I would take 1-2 hits just trying to use them
