Great game, just make sure to disabled the "AI matches speed" option in the settings if you want the later races to be even remotely possible.
At first i disliked it, i was hitting corners going really bad i said im very bad at this game, i started considering refunding, then i had controller issues, maybe about 10-20 minutes later i figured out the controls, started winning (So it was a skill issue), well i guess it becomes fun once you figure out how to actually play it , its a solid game with Workshop modding its really good.

Everyone said this is the evolution of Wipeout and they were right. If you know all the 2097/XL/3/SE tracks with your eyes closed and want more then get this game.
A must buy for VR users who enjoy racing! The sense of speed is great. I love the fact that the graphics are simplistic so that you can crank up the resolution in VR. While some cockpits may look similar, each is unique. This game also not only support split-screen/co-op but also multi-monitor support so that you guys can play on separate screens. You can also play with a flight stick/HOTAS if you really want to get into it. Those fine controls definitely go a long way! I would suggest that newcomers to this type of game, simply take your time. Load into custom races, set the AI to easy, find a track you like, test all of the ships and keep repeating those races until you place first. Then up the difficulty one by one until you begin to struggle. Also, be sure to check out the settings in the game. You may come across some options that help you maneuver better/be more comfortable. It's crazy how this is one of the cheapest games I own but also the most thrilling to play. And I have a lot of big games.

It plays just like WO3, with the graphical capabilities of WO HD (but you can also make it look classic if you want.) Would love to hit up a multiplayer game on this, to take me back to PSN days. Thanks for all the work on this, to the devs! It feels -just- like the old school game. :D

Brutal, unforgiving. Sound effects could use a bit more hmph, but everything else is spot on.
I installed the game, I started a race, was overwhelmed by the speed and "ding, donged around"...
But then...suddenly...I remembered my training at the wipeout academy. Now I am locked and loaded, pin pointing razor sharp turns, scratching edges with the tip of my wings, while electronic infinity sounds get my adrenaline pumping.
Thank you guys! How could I miss this game on steam?

Stumbled upon Ballistic one day and randomly remembered pulling up to an arcade when I was a kid and never playing the AG racer that was there because I sucked ass at it and didn't want to waste my balance. Always wanted to play tho.

This game absolutely nails the late 90s/early 2000s racing aesthetics and mechanics. BallisticNG does anti-grav racing better than Wipeout at times.
The physics are divine with both the classic floaty Wip3out/Wipeout XL handing and the tighter, modern Wipeout HD handling done so well. Each ship's quirks make learning a new ship a very fun experience. Ships I thought I would hate using based on stats sometimes ended up being amazing once I sort of figured them out.
BallisticNG has enjoyable course design that gives the wide variety of ships and techniques you pick up a place to shine. The combat is excellent and maybe it plays it a bit too close to typical wipeout arsenal but the dogfighting is just as good as the genre greats. The music is still stuck in my head with some real tunes to gyrate to while swooping into the lead.
Feels like it has a very nice level of challenge across the two difficulty modes so far.

Great clone of the original Wipeout games, say 1 -3 on the PSX. We can argue over whether they nailed the polish of the controls, I can't really tell. I try different vehicles if I feel the controls are getting janky and that seems to help. Try to always use the appropriate vehicle for the track like the Barracuda for "pure" races.

It has modes for every taste and very good mods in the workshop to further tailor your experience.
Just stay the hell away from the discord server, its the reason why this game has sold only a tenth of the units it deserves.
Fantastic game, the visuals, the vibes, the music, OH MY GOD THE MUSIC are just top-notch. In my opinion the game is worth buying for the soundtrack alone, you won't find better techno/electronica in any modern game. Can't tell you the number of hours the soundtrack was just playing in the background when I was doing other things/playing other games.
If you're a fan of classic Wipeout games, or the PS1/5th Gen era in general, this game is must have, especially considering how damn cheap it is even with all the DLCs. And the DLCs are well worth it, they add amazing tracks and ships.
The game's modding support is also amazing, be it via Steam Workshop or any other means, you can add whatever you want, hell, you can fully recreate any of the three original Wipeout games in Ballistic NG, down to the UI/HUD.
If I was to cite a single most prominent problem this game has - it's the difficulty of the higher speed classes. I can tell this game was made BY hardcore Wipeout players FOR hardcore Wipeout players. And while they can finally find the challenge they seek in this game, everyone else is out of luck. I was able to finish most of the Wipeout games and somewhat comfortably play on higher speed classes, but not in this game. Seriously, just search a video of some pro player running on the highest speed - the ship barely follows the course, usually it flies well above it ignoring most of the turns and obstacles. It looks janky as hell and, frankly speaking, plain unenjoyable.
I was able to convince a couple of friends to buy the game and play it with me, and we just stick to the lower speed classes because the game becomes nearly unplayable around Zen.
Overall, I highly recommend buying it, just know what to expect - it's a VERY hard game that looks and sounds amazing, especially if you're into retro/vintage gaming. Very fun with friends, too. If you're fine with never finishing the game and sticking to the lower speed classes, it's an amazing experience.

Nintendo has let a good IP die F-zero is one of my all time favorite racing games and people say GX is hard to play but this isn't something you can just easy jump in to and play. Practice makes perfect its hard to play but its fun Nintendo can eat their heart out they have NOTHING on indie devs.
Since years I was wondering why no WipeOut Title comes to Steam or other PC Platforms. Now I know why.. All the people including the developers of the WipeOut Games playing BALLiSTiCNG these days!

We don't need Wipeout on PC, because this it. Don't get me wrong, I still WANT Wipeout on PC, but after 100%'ing the game; I think I actually like BNG more.
This game has an insane amount of content before you even begin thinking about the Steam Workshop, which also has a huge amount of custom tracks and ships made by the community.
It also runs amazing on the Steam Deck, really brought back the vibes of playing Pulse on the PS Vita.
Seriously, for £11.39, you cannot go wrong if you're an anti-grav fan. Remember to pick up the free DLC "Neon Nights" and then consider the insanely reasonably priced "Outer Reaches" if you're enjoying the game.
Love that this game exists, providing a way to enjoy anti-grav long after Sony sold their soul.

If you were like me, trying to decide between Redout, Redout 2, Wipeout and others, just get this!
I played both Redout games, they are good, but this game has better tracks with actual themes other than "track floating in the sky" as every Redout track is. The controls and physics of this game are slightly better than Redout; in some cases it is optimal to ram a wall and come to a full stop in Redout which just feels weird.
This game feels pretty much the same as the Wipeout series, but there are basically unlimited tracks and ships thanks to the steam workshop!
Hoping for an Android port so I can play on my phone too lol, I would probably clock a lot more hours on the go.

C'est le digne héritier de Wipeout. Des circuits à foison, une difficulté assez bien dosée dans l'ensemble. Pas mal de choix de vaisseaux. On adore aussi la possibilité d'utiliser des mods pour allonger la durée de vie qui est déjà bien gargantuesque.
Très appréciable d'avoir des niveau de vitesse plus élevé pour un challenge encore plus corsé. Graphiquement on touche à la nostalgie des joueurs, le côté PS1 donne un charme indéniable à ce jeu.
Pour les fans de Wipeout c'est un must-have à posséder dans sa bibliothèque steam.

This is a very impressive game! The team behind it are clearly very talented, and its an incredible homage to the WipEout series! I think everyone with an interest in anti-gravity racing games, especially WipEout games, should play BallsticNG.
I think, however, it needs some balancing work, particularly with campaign difficulty. I would suspect I am around the halfway point in the campaign at the moment, and events at this stage rely too heavily on what I, as someone who has experience with WipEout games, would consider to be advanced driving techniques and skill to get even a bronze medal! I acknowledge that there are assist options in the game settings, but these just feel like Band-Aid solutions to poor balancing.

Incredibly good value for money, this is a game made with love. I loved the Wipeout games for how slick and unique they were, the devs for this game clearly did too. The soundtrack is filled with bangers, if you don't feel something when In Saturns RIngs plays, this game probably isn't for you.
This game is the successor to Wipeout's throne and its thoroughly earned. You've got complete control of how you want the game to look. The general mechanics of the game are polished to the point that even though the lowest speed is higher than some of the Wipeout games, it never feels frustrating. Even a complete beginner can feel good at the game after just a few laps on a track. There's just enough challenge in everything where you're eager to get to the next skill levels. Custom music is a thing too, with just a bit of setup it pushed the fun levels to 11/10.
Before writing this, I hadn't played for a while due to controller issues and booted it up to find the game was updated. It was worth the money before the update, now it's even better. This is my favourite racing game in my steam library, by a mile.
As a long-time fan of the WIPEOUT series, a few years ago I bought BallisticNG to try something fresh after thousands of laps in Wipeout. I was disappointed — the controls felt cumbersome, and the graphics were worse than on my PSP. But! I gave the game a second chance after a major update, and it immediately became one of my favorites.
There are tons of gameplay configuration options, from controls to camera settings, dozens of additional community-made tracks, and incredible satisfaction when, lap after lap at ZEN speed, I hear “Perfect lap” in my headphones. The entry barrier is high, but the satisfaction is amazing.
BallisticNG are the best AG Racer on the market for sure (and not only on the PC) !

Runs well on my potato laptop, wanted to play this game because I used to play speed racer on my NDS, this game is obviously significantly harder at first, but rewarding, community and workshop keeps it running past beyond a normal game lifecycle too, recommended for those who wants a lite, challenging, and moddable Anti Gravity and Combat racing genre
Obwohl ich aus der Zeit stamme, besaß ich leider aber damals nie selbst ein eigenes Wipeout für die erste PlayStation, mit der der Kult um diese Serie begann.
In der Jugend hatte ich mal eine Phase, wo man zusammen mit Freunden ein altes, seit Jahren leerstehendes Industriegebäude im damaligen kleinen Heimatörtchen besetzte.
Die Mühle hieß das Ding umgangssprachlich unter den Einwohnern der Gegend, und weiß nicht ob da mal einer an den Drähten gelutscht hatte und sagte: "..yep, Strom is drauf", aber darin entstand so nach und nach ein echt gemütlicher, wenn auch nicht genehmigter Clubraum aus Zeug, das wir halt so über hatten. Also Sofas, Tische, nem Ofen für die kältere Jahreszeit, Mugge über Kompaktanlage, einen Mixer und irgendwelche alte Ranzboxen, solche Dinge.
Sogar ein schicker Teppich lag dann aus, wir hatten sogar 'ne Nebelmaschine und einen kleineren Discolaser. Mauerten noch die Fenster dicht, damit von all dem möglichst wenig nach außen drang. Nur gut, dass wenigstens einer irgendwie immer 'n Plan hatte.
Es sprach sich auch immer mehr rum. Leute kamen dann von weiter weg vorbei, um Party zu machen. Bis irgendwann Matze kam, der noch Röhren-TV und seine gechippte PSX draufpackte. Yep, dort kam ich dann mit Wipeout in Berührung.
Und wann immer ich nun reingucke, BallisticNG schickt mich immer dahin zurück. Zurück zu den 90s, in denen ich, umgeben von bekannten Gesichtern, Underworldmugge und Gras/Bier-Dunst, Wipeout auf Matzes Röhre zocke. Mit den Airbrakes, den gnadenlosen Banden und Streckenbegrenzungen, der top notch Physik, in der echt spürbar viel Liebe steckt, und dem Geschwindigkeitsgefühl.. es ist 1 zu 1 Wipeout, so wie es damals war.
ALLERDINGS: (!) Unnachgiebig ists auch. BallisticNG ist kein einfaches Spiel. Die Errungenschaften sind zum Teil ziemlich heftig gesteckt. Aber es muss auch so schwer sein, denn wenn du's einmal raus hast und du merkst, dass du mit der Zeit immer besser drin wirst, kickt Euphorie.
Es ist auch kein Rennspiel im klassischen Sinne. Nur weil es schnell ist, erwarte kein futuristisches F1. Ich denke das ist auch der Grund, warum die Leute strugglen. Sie sehens vielleicht zu sehr durch casualige Augen. Sieh es eher als eine Art Geschicklichkeitsgame an. Wenn du so rangehst und du zudem Ausdauer, Geduld und auch etwas Affinität und Verständnis für so Games, bzw. wie sie funktionieren, mitbringst, erlernt es sich echt gut.
Auch lässt sich der Schwierigkeitsgrad hier und da modifizieren. Der Speed kommt zum Beispiel in Klassen. Gut, die tiefste Klasse kann für absolute Neulinge schon ziemlich schnell und überfordernd wirken. Aber es ist eben nur Übung und Knowledge, was dahintersteckt. Gibt auch Rennen ohne Waffen und obendrein gibt der angebundene Steam-Workshop auch vieles für Einsteiger her.
Der Preis von aktuell 12,49 is eh 'n Steal. Bestes Wipeout für den PC!

Grew up playing WipeOut 2097, it was one of the first Playstation One games I owned back in 1999. Stumbled upon this fan project through a youtube video, and I now whish I had known about it sooner. It's absolutely incredible. A loveletter to all the retro WipeOut games. My muslce memory immediately kicked in while playing this. And even though the physics don't feel quite the same as in those PSX titles, it's still pretty darn close and faithful.
Played the standard game, a few campaigns. And also ended up installing mods, so the game now includes tracks and vehicles from classic WipeOut titles. I'm so giddy playing this, it's amazing!
Pretty great game, I do think the complaints regarding the difficulty are valid but it ignorable if you play with friends. When everyone is crashing around together, then it doesnt feel bad and it is very good fun.
I also like how it works on potatos and on all 3 OS so there is no issue regarding friends not being able to play because of hardware limitations.
Campaign for me are mostly about practicing for our multiplayer sessions. I plan to delv into some modded stuff later as well. I never really played wipeout, infact i never even was ever interested in AG racing. I just got it cuz it seemed like a good racing game with the characteristics of running well on a potato, high skill ceiling, good community support with mods and feature complete with mutliplayer
I only recently discovered the Wipeout series, and after a quick search online, I discovered the closest thing to Wipeout on PC is this. The internet didn't lie. Both "old-school" and modern physics are represented here, so fans new and old will find something to enjoy in this package.
If you're after a solid anti-grav racer, á la Wipeout, this is it. I won't be uninstalling this from my Steam Deck!

Game has a great selection of tracks, and vehicles to choose from the first career level was fun but it ended there...
As soon as i got to the second tier of the career i cant win a single race, i went from being Lewis Hamilton, to good old Latifi.
I still haven't unlocked the faster ships, and now im looking at the competition literally disappear off the line while i stay in last struggling to get a top 3.. I might need to get good but this difficulty spike is trash and made me stop playing.
I don't remember wipeout being this ridiculously when i was a kid, especially at an entry level.

This game it REALLY fast and fun as hell. It is pretty hard but very very satisfying when you get it right. If you like racing games or are at all interested in AGR games just give it a shot.

Probablemente, [b]el mejor anti-gravity racer que he jugado[/b]. Ya te puedes ir preparando porque en las categorías más altas es difícil de pelotas.

I haven't played nearly enough of this game.
I had only ever played the HD remake of wipeout, but this game is perfect. Scratches that zero-g racing itch perfectly. The game is difficult, but fun. There is definitely a lot of skill needed to get platinum on every track. Having game modes other than pure racing in the campaign is really fun too as it lets you learn some of the tracks a bit better. There's full workshop support too but I haven't messed around with that yet.
I definitely recommend a controller to play this.
Looking for Wipeout? You found it. Played this while I was waiting for my car to get detailed and it threw me back to childhood where I enjoyed Wipeout on my PSP for the first time in high school. Game is brutally hard but there's still enjoyment to be had if you don't beat yourself up (both in-game and mentally). Airbrakes are your friend! Strange menu controls can be frustrating but you learn it eventually.
put wipeout 3 soundtrack on the custom music folder and you got the perfect game
