Bad Ass Babes is the hotly-anticipated new game from Indie developer Thatcher Productions, but is it any good?
Screw the establishment, man! Oversized publishers that don't move with the times are so old hat. The cool way to publish games is to be a lean operation of a couple of guys who haven't been able to afford a YCMA shower in a week who release games like Bad Ass Babes for almost free and grow beards and hang out at coffee shops and have documentaries made about them. Fight the power, unless they don't give me a freebie review code, in which case they're a bunch of pompous asses.
Hey, this is different. It's nice to see a solid, well presented and very playable game of this type appear without the usual hype and fanfare, and get plenty of attention for its gameplay rather than its sexy heroine or Hollywood guest stars. The Indie team have have made it work.
Set in a wartorn part of the game's fantasy world, the game hands you the task of shooting all the aliens before they shoot you. Some of them are tougher than others. Some need to be shot in the head or the leg before they die, and some cutscenes show you feeling bad about it. Over the course of the game you will have the choice of over 24 weapons and your character has a great rack!
Bad Ass Babes tries to seperate itself from the pack with interesting features.
Co-op features heavily in the game, but it's a shame there's no support for 56 players at once on the same couch.
The graphics are pretty good, if you're into the retro art style. Visually, you may want to try before you buy.
Character animation is acceptable, but given the obvious attention to detail given in the initial character renderings it seems a shame that all the good looking (and, it has to be said, larger than their competition)
sprites move about in a relatively sloppy way. Backgrounds however are a delight, with wonderfully surreal landscapes that have been positively showered with all the colours of the rainbow.
At least you can max out all the FSAA settings and run at maximum resolution without too much worry.
Being a 2D game, the hardware capabilities of your PC aren't exactly being pushed to the limit.Purists may point out that the 16-bit games Bad Ass Babes is trying to emulate didn't look this good, but they can go jump because they are doo doo heads.
Game of the Year contender? Maybe!
bought this on a hunch (it isnt that pricey anyway) i didnt have high expectation but boy did it deliver i really liked Also the arcade shooter parts of the game .theres alot of soul in this .totally worth a try !

This game is Streets of Rage with boobs and more violence, it is literally the game I dreamed of when I was twelve.
If only I was able to travel back in time and show this game to my younger self, maybe my life would've been different, I could've grown up knowing dreams can come true, maybe I wouldn't be such a cynical jaded A-Hole now. I love this game as it represents a part of me I have almost lost, a part of me that saw computer games as a solution, something new that gave me freedom, and not a dull drawn out repetitive addiction that has kept me in doors most of my life.
Bad Ass Babes is not perfect, I cringe every time I have to set up my controller again, but its been made with basically no budget and is an example of how far one man can push himself when he really loves hot nude chicks.

Laughing my ass off I am. I think, it's important to understand what you're signing up for in order to properly enjoy the game.
Gameplay-wise, it's a solid 2,5D brawler of the olden, think Golden Axe, Double Dragon, that kind of stuff. Walking from left to right on a stage with room to maneuver, shwacking enemies spawning in with your combos until the screen is empty, rinse and repeat.
Presentation-wise, it's a cheesy game about semi-to-blatantly-nude FMV babes whacking FMV alien zombies. I don't think I have to explain, at this point, it's recommended against if you're that kind of person who needs to play srs gamz to feel good about yourself. If you, like me, apreciate something not taking itself remotely seriously, being cheesy and standing by it, go ahead.
At the end, it's hard to fault this game, really. I always apreciate TNA with gameplay to complement it and the brawling works all right! I suppose, it sucks if you're a weeb preferring cartoon to filmed TNA. Well, gamepad vibration could be more nuanced (read: less downright broken), that one I gotta amend. At least it can be turned off (and is by default) entirely.
If you're buying this game then I think you should know what to expect. That being said, this game did meet my expectations and I found it enjoyable. It's obviously a humorous game that throws back to classic side-scrolling beat'em ups while also invoking the 90's trend of digitized 2D graphics. Basicallly it's Area 51 meets Streets of Rage meets late-night Cinemax. If you get all three of those references then you're old enough to enjoy this game I think.
As mentioned, it's a side-scrolling beat'em up and it's serviceable in the gameplay department and sometimes you'll find yourself having mindless fun. The controls were honestly better than I expected and there are some interesting items you can use. This is far from a masterpiece but if you're just looking for a bit of silly adult fun I think it's good; you might feel better about it if you get it on sale though.
At first glance, the game may seem off-putting; but if you give it a chance, you may enjoy it. It is a side-scrolling beat 'em up, featuring live actors and actresses. The game does have some variety--as some of the levels are driving levels and range shooting levels. The game also features branching paths and unlockable characters and modes. Built with the Beats of Rage OpenBOR game engine, the game is easy enough to pick up and play and there can be up to 4 player, local co-op. This game however, is NOT for kids; it is about a band of strippers, who save the Earth and what's left of the human race from an alien invasion. I applaud the developer for taking such a risk, in an age; where every damn thing is offensive. This game also features slight RPG elements. Unlike Hatred, a game which garnered a fair amount of attention and then deflated, like a balloon, going down in a fart circle: Thatcher Productions, I believe, put a good effort into this and care. The presentation is nice, I think. If you remember many of those FMV style games, from the 90's; this game, may tickle that nerve. This game is a good way to kill a couple of hours and is not meant to be taken seriously, clearly! Enjoy the adult humor and the beat 'em up action. Have fun with it.

Love it! Cheesy low budget bmovie style game :D
The game is great and exactly what it claims to be. A bad ass beat em up with nostalgia up the cleavage and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ its Ron Jeremy!! Simple button controls with enough combos to keep you interested throughout the game. I thought it was kind of sad that after you unlocked a character you were unable to start a new game from the beginning with that character but I guess it makes sense based on the story line. Love how the game changes up between beat em up and shooting stages. Boss fights are fun, all the characters are fun to play with, and oh yeah, tits! Lots and lots of tits.
Didn't spend a huge amount of time with this one but what I did play I enjoyed and I could see going back for a few more playthroughs and the ending strongly hinted at a bad ass sequel that I'm going to go look into after I've finished this review. Thumbs up for sure.
Badass Babes it's the ideal game for fans of the classic "beat 'em up" format made so popular in the late 80's in your nearest arcade center. Moreover, the characters are all based on real people, bringing back early Mortal Kombat visuals to mind. Each character has a cople of special movements and each stage has a lot of crazy visuals to offer too. While the game does contain sexual innuendo and nudity, that's not the main focus of the game. The music is also great. The story is kickass! Hot chicks with special abilities are the only ones available for stopping an evil alien invasion. If this was released in the mid 90's, it would have been one of the best of the genre for sure.
This game is... so terrible its awesome and that's what is great! The story is silly. The moves are pretty goofy too. It isn't terribly difficult. The controls are easy enough. The girls are attractive. Sound is typical. But best of all? Co-Op. This isn't the type of game you play by yourself or with children (nudity and adult humor).
This is the type of game you sit back and play with a homie while drinking a beer or two because its funny.

BAB takes the retro days side brawler, and de-pants it for all the world to see. Don't be too quick to pass this one off, it has actual merit to its design. BAB is a love letter to the by-gone days of RPG's like "Macho Women With Guns", or more recently "Big T!ts, Bad @$$es". A great tag-line would be "it's softcore porn...with explosions!" (aka Michael Bay wet dream). Gameplay is basic, nothing ground breaking here. Audio / music is on the bland side, and plot is something akin to porn.
But, here's where BAB shines brighter than any other similar game. At no time does BAB ever pretend to be something it's not. It knows what kind of game it is, and how questionable content it contains. And it milks this for all it's worth. It's not a game changer, not by a long shot. But that's ok, it doesn't have to be. It has a solidified fun factor, something lacking in today's AAA market games. No, it's not for everyone, this is obvious. But, it has enough gameplay to make it worthy of a second look.
2 years and I have not been able to play the game. neither whit xbox nor playtation4 controls. how many years more I have to wait for a update to activate the controls? My 21 min of game play in 2 years is only checking if I could use the controls.
The only reason I have not ask for a refund is because I want to play the game and I thought it would only be a temporary problem.
Many people like me do not have time for the keyboard we just play another game of the thousands that we have.

Dude...buying this game...I don't know, at least a few years back, it's been a very fun ride from the beginning, and I feel like it gets better with every update. Admittedly, when I first saw it show up as a recommendation on Steam I was a bit skeptical, but then looking at various gameplay videos piqued my interest. If you're into the MK-style juggling combo sort of combat, this definitely has some depth. That said, it also has something for those who live for cut-frame-two-in-one combos ala' Street Fighter. Definitely recommended; normally I can't stand buying a "game under development" title, but this one was solid to begin with.

well all i can is that this game is cheesy as hell, and filled with sexual content that is quite decent and pleasing to the eye, and the Babes are alright looking too, and this for me is the second time owning this game, because i bought it from GameJolt when it was available from their at the time for the same exact price for what i paid, here on Steam. so Andrew now you have $20.00 in total of my money, but for what its worth for me personally, is the combat mechanics are really good and that's what makes this game fun to play, and it is really done well, but the one thing i don't like about this game is the mini games where you shoot the Aliens and ride the motor bike shooting at the enemies coming from both sides of the screen, it just annoys me and i am relieved when those parts are over but besides that it is the games combat that is good and is the most best thing about this game for me personally, plus all the sexual content as well, i just wish that you Andrew could remove the mini games where you shoot the aliens and the motor bike one and replace it with something else because those parts are just annoying like i said and boring, but overall this is an awesome side scrolling beat em up with that old school nostalgic combat mechanics and 90's Mortal Kombat digitised Graphics

Yes the Gameplay could be smoother, the motrcycle sprits could be better and the big robots look a bit Strange.
But if you like the Style with the FMV Sprites like Mortal Kombat back in the 90's or Revolution X with Aerosmith and beat em ups' like Double Dragon or Streets of Rage this could be your kind of game.
Yes it never reaches their class and you can loose your character in the Enemy waves sometimes and i really wish this was all done in higher resolution but it is really fun. And absolutley worth the price.
If there should be a sequel i will buy that too!

I've played the game for a bit until I died after ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around too much. I love the animation style for a number of reasons. The controls are simple even as I just used my keyboard and mouse to play. While playing this game you may summon titty-dragons and other amazing things that you would have never expected to come out of a woman's body. As one of the weirdest and most unique games I've ever played I definitely recommend it. If you want dragon-titties and titty-dragons then buy this game.

- Set up should be set to default Xbox controller which most people have
at least give an indicator in the menus to set up your controller tip
- Complete Moves list for each character and move tips at the loading screen
- Not enough character dialogue audio

I'm really in the middle on this game but since there's no option besides recommended or not I only said yes because I am kinda enjoying it. FIrst up, THERE IS CONTROLLER SUPPORT. All the prior reiews that said otherwise didn't listen to the developer responses-you first have to use the keyboard on startup (Enter key is the start button) and use the directional keys and Enter to navigate to the options, then to Controls, then you can enable and configure game controllers and it will work fine.
As for the game itself, it's a very low-expectations "guilty pleasure" title with a horribly bad plot that's meant to be cheesy. The graphics are nice with the digitized sprites although a little rough around the edges, I'd have liked to see different types of girls available as some of what's here is not my thing. Sounds are fine for what they are. Gameplay is kinda mixed, while controllers work fine they are not as rseponsive as they should be, especially when trying to enter special move commands they feel occasionally sluggish and unresponsive. There also needs to be more gameplay options-while you can unlock multiple play modes the main game is too short and feels like a work-in-progress. It could use a couple more characters, difficulty modes, and ways to make the main characters playable from the start and not having to only unlock them for parts of the game. It's also overpriced at $10.
While it's a fine game for what it tries to be, it would benefit greatly from some more gameplay enhancements and bug fixes. Wait until maybe it goes on sale to give it a try, if you give it a fair chance there is some potential if some more work can be put into it.
I like to play this with my family. :)
Worth every penny.
Normally I don't play these types of games But I'm the type of person that Likes to play games that we don't really see, or has a spotlight. One thingt that sold me was the graphics which brings me back to Memory lane! I highly recommend this game it's honestly very unique and fun to play. I'm surprised not that many people are aware of this game, Maybe I'll need to stream this game and hopefully get other people to be aware of "thatcher production" games. Andrew I admire your work. Keep up the good work!

An action-filled pornographic B-movie beat-em up parody, which through it's sheer ridiculousness might be considered a fun R-rated Sci-Fi Double Dragon bootleg or at least "The Room" of beat-em ups.
Controller doesn't work. When reading about this in the discussions section the developer's response is basically that some people have problems using an xbox controller while others don't.
The game has a strong facade of full controller support. Kinda B.S. and false advertising to me; especially when the developer admits the problem on the back end but no change on the front end cause it would effect sales. That is more sleazy to me then displaying half naked women as a hook to buy an otherwise unremarkable game...
Way trippier than it looks - it's like if Jeff Minter made Final Fight.

Want to play a beat em up like Streets of Rage but want nudity and crude humour as well? Badass Babes will fit the bill. Its a solid fun beat em arcade up style game thats solid and well built for the price of admission. I paid ten for it at the time of the review.
I love this game, its almost like a pitfighter clone but sexier. My only small issue is the missing kick button, i was hoping there would be more moves. Buy this game! Cant wait for a longer sequel...

I could say it has potential, but as it is nearly two years old, I sadly doubt (prove me wrong Thatcher Productions) it will improve any time soon. A wasted shame too, for what is a fun old school arcade-like 80's beat'em up, but with a far more 'interesting' visual appeal, but horribly with options and compatibility of the same era too, and it suffers from screen tearing too 🙈
However, if you are happy to play this alone and with just a keyboard, you will be fine and most likely enjoy it, otherwise come back another time and hopefully it will have been modernised in function and compatibility, especially as the developer [i]seems[/i] active, but (again) nearly two years on and right now we could not play it as suggested (Local/Co-op Multuplayer) or with Steam Controllers. Thankfully (at least) the awful BGM (Back Ground Music) can be turned off 🙉

I have created a second steam account, and bought a second copy of this game, just to give this another positive review. I might do this for a third time. That's how much I love Bad Ass Babes.
Good game with a fun silly story. There's something great about all the fighters being real models and the gameplay is pretty straight forward with no many glitches I've found. I only wish there was more playable characters but I've only beat the game once so maybe there is some secret unlocks.
I first looked at this game and wasn't sure, but gave it a try...and LOVED it. brings you back to the 90s 2d Streets of Rage mixed in with some Mortal Kombat. Great gameplay, many different options and SO MUCH FUN!
I found this game through the developer's other games on GameJolt and the movies he's made on Youtube. The action is frantic and tight and the controls, while clunky, are for the most part, good and don't detract from the overall playability. The B-movie humor doesn't feel like it's trying to hard to be campy either, and adds to the game's atmosphere and story. I'm itching to see more from this guy.
Streets of Rage + Sexy + Silly = Adults Only Arcade Fun!!!!
I surprisingly enjoyed this game and played through it multiple times (which I rarely do with non Fighting Games)! The action is tight, furious and easy to pick up while being deeper than it should be. I do have to admit I didn't like the fact you had to take damage on the driving section but other than that Bad Ass Babes is solid! Most of the female models are quite apealing dare I say even sexy, each representing a different fetish or cliche of female archetypes. Props for even include a black female as the shop keeper to almost cover each racial variation of women (no latin ladies though). The animations are pretty good and no delay upon inputs from the controller either despite the obvious low budget campy execution. The music kept me in the zone with no distraction "why is this here" tracks. The story is pure cheese like what would happen if Troma made a skin flick with just the right amount of sex exploitation grindhouse nonsense. I do understand some people would be offended by Bad Ass Bades existence but honestly I am glad the developer made one of the most non PC titles ever that I actually completed and enjoy more than the last several $60 games I bought on my consoles. I appreciate the fact in a way PC gaming is the wild west and I hope it stays that way. I can't wait to play the hopefully near future sequal!!!!!!
The controls could definetly be better and less clunky, the controller support is non-existent, I've had weird sound issues half the times I've booted the game up, no online play...

It plays like one of the old arcade beat-em-ups (not one of the golden ones, but one which everyone remembers playing at their "home" arcade but can't remember the name of), and I was surprised to find myself having a ton of fun with the story, characters, special moves and overall feeling of the game. Admittedly, it has very limited replayability for most people, including myself. Still, the few hours of fun I got out of this one were worth the price. And I'll probably return to it with some couch-coop with a friend in the future.
Besides, the world (and Steam) needs to have games like this available, even if you don't like it. In my opinion it's a lot healthier to play with exposed skin and breasts, when comparing to the bloodbaths a huge amount of games make their primary point to be.
I wondered how I would approach this game without looking like a pervert. Bottom line is: there is NO way. I am a man and the thought of playing a game and seeing women bare enticed me. May entice you as well. Not suitable for children. If you live with your parents, you better make sure to lock your door twice because it might be less embarrasing to explain watching a porno. At least with a porno, you don't need an explanation. Now that I got that out of the way, allow me to review this treasure of trash.
The game is pure nostalgic feel of the old Arcade-Beat em up style similar to Final Fight, Battletoads, Double Dragon, and such. With a storyline that you would see in those B-Rated bimbo flicks that used to play on USA Up-All-Night. (Who remembers that?) Also combining real people in the style of the original Mortal Kombat Trilogy. So no animated girls. Each girl has their own unique abilties that require some form of clothing removal to summon. It truly is a treat when performing the abilities.
Pros:
- Nostalgic feel.
- Naked women. Girls aren't perfect 10s. They look like strippers from the rundown part of town. But look good enough to keep you looking.
- Difficulty. I wouldn't consider it hard, but annoying when there's 10 enemies on screen at once and you are getting attacked from all angles.
(I'm trying so hard to find pros but the main pro is what comes advertised.)
Cons:
- Controls. First it is Keyboard only, by default. To use a controller, you must individually map.
- It's not very responsive. Attack works great. There's some areas where I can't do what my fingers are telling it to do.
- Playable characters. I think there's only 4 or 5. You acquire them by defeating them as a boss. Which is a shame because I would've loved to play as some of the minion girls as well. Which would've added about 4 or 5 more.
- Price isn't worth the amount of gameplay. The game can be completed in about 2 hours.
Final Thoughts:
This game isn't going to be fo everybody. Especially not the female demographic. This game isn't going to win any popular votes either. You have to accept the game for what it is. Which as I said above, trash that is seen as a treasure. So I only recommend on those ideals. I do wish Steam has a number rating instead because a thumbs up is giving it way too much praise. It's more like a 6 out of 10. Just barely over the midway point.
This is superb. I am a fan of sidescroller Beat Em Ups and fighting games, so picked this up. I like the humor and adult theme works perfect ( If your offended don't buy rather than leave a bad review, as the content is clear on the Steam page). For me it runs perfectly no issues at all and even though my Arcade Stick did not work on first loading of the game, it was very easy to remap to my Stick done in a few minutes. Gameplay is as you would expect from this kind of game but a little deeper than most as you do have differenct moves and combos you can pull off more like a fighting game, I likes this as it adds more depth to the game. Music can get a bit samey but you can turn it off or down, but it does fit the game. Overall I would recommend this game for any Old school mature player who loves sidescrolling Beat Em Ups. RECOMMENDED. And can't wait for more from this very talented Development Team.

I bought this game wanting a good beat em up. And I found it. I had some issues with it early on but nothing game breaking until recently, and the developer had the game patched and working the next day. He is also very quick to respond and helpful. I've tried this game on both keyboard and on an Xbox One controller, I did my mapping in the settings and worked really well. Game is kind of pervy ( if that is a word ) but for 9.99 I can see myself playing it more in the future just because of how unique and nostalgic ( gameplay ) this game is. The music is something you would expect from an older 16 bit console, and the lines are kind of corny and the game doesn't take itself too serious. If combination of Streets of Rage with Strippers interests you buy Bad ass Babes. Edit: music is driving me crazy now.
Basically the best game ever.

Из минусов, коротковата.

So i don't recommand this game for so many reason and i will tell point by point
First the graphisme even its for be like the old school type like mortal komba i'm sure they can do better like Streets of Fury EX who do it much better and have that its se second poin i will talk its controller.
Second the controller you need to read a guide, why i should read a guide to map and button check ? Alot game like the game i mention, you use you controler and all work and you can change the button without difficulty, even on very very very very cheap game from sakura games publishers have a nice controller support. We end this review by said the dev are lazy to not give a better controller support, it seems they do another game probably in the same way of this game
If you search a game in the same style but sfw i hugely recommand you Streets of Fury EX they are the same price and he are cleary better in all the point except no naked woman, honestly if you search some game with naked woman look at the publishers sakuragames they had alot of it and much better than it.
Steam should impose to dev indy or not some obligation like a good controller support & important stuff

The controller support for this does not work at ALL. I've tried several different controllers... Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Playstation 4. The only one that the game even detected was the Playstation 4, and even then, the buttons were mapped all weird... like the buttons to move were on the right side of the controller (X to move forward, Circle to move UP?) and the shoulder buttons to attack, plus there wasn't even a jump button at all on the controller. Without being able to use a controller, how am I supposed to play this game on the couch with my boyfriend, which is the ENTIRE reason I bought it in the first place? I shouldn't have to download other controller mapping software because the game designer was lazy and didn't map controllers properly and didn't even make it so that more than one person could play this game at a time because ONLY KEYBOARDS work to control characters! LAZY designer!
Not only that, *actual* achievements weren't programmed into the game because the designer was also probably too lazy/couldn't figure out how to. I went into this really wanting to enjoy it, but it fell flat on the fact that I paid too much for a buggy game (it did at one point freeze right up on me) that hates controllers. Save your money, because the boobs aren't worth it. Really.

Though the controls feel clunky and my controller (xboc360) was not discovered. Also the hitboxes seem off especially in the motor riding section of the game.
Still, i recommend it as a novelty, if you have money to spare and want to have a laugh.

yes, game is silly and stupid. Its suppost to be campy like Troma and just like Troma there is nudity if there need for it or not. And, I enjoy seeing breast but the controls suck. Enemy at times over powered. And just over all they could have done better.
Un jeu indé incroyablement bien réalisé, fun et cool. Mortal Kombat peut aller se faire voir, ça c'est du vrai jeu digitalisé qui fait polémique ! Un Beat 'em all qui fait l'apologie de la nudité féminine, c'est ce qui manque de nos jours. Perso je joue avec une manette USB de Super Nintendo donc le rendu gen 16-bit se ressent sans soucis. Il y'a même des scanlines ou du lissage c'est au choix. Un travail formidable des developeurs ils peuvent être fiers c'est un jeu réussi
