I'm not a huge fan of precision platformers, so I didn't want to have this bias in the review. But after my fingers started hurting in the first world from the wall climbing, I don't think it would be fair to still have it recommended.

Too much quantity over quality makes the many levels not that interesting to go through, with a lot of rehashing. If you really like platforming, maybe, but clearly I won't be coming back.

Лично я играл в нее без какого либо увлечения, потому что не смог втянуться. Игра сложная, хотя и не несправедливая. Это просто минималистская игра-платформер, с некоторыми действительно раздражающими уровнями и механикой.

Причина, по которой я ставлю ей палец вниз, заключается в том, что она на самом деле не добавляет многого к тому, что доступно, и лично для меня она не была действительно веселой и интересной.

Управление кажется действительно странным, особенно цепляние и прыжки с вертикальных поверхностей. Да, со временем к ним привыкаешь, но я уверен, что если я вернусь через время, это будет ощущаться так же неловко, пока я снова не привыкну.

Графика и музыка не представляют ничего особенного.

Существует слишком много других похожих игр, многие из которых дешевле и имеют более высокую ценность, и, на мой взгляд, они более увлекательны. Так зачем же заморачиваться с этой?

Almost good, just the same 2 mechanics more or less.

Sticking to wall and jumping off of that to avoid obstacles, which I would have been fine with it, but the control is VERY weird, not comfortable, or maybe it's my brain idk. Also, I kept sticking to walls when I wanted to free fall, very annoying, doesn't let the game free flow is not the best for me with these kind of platforming games.

A frustratingly imprecise precision platformer. Walls are very sticky and after ~100 levels I still can't consistently move in the intended direction off a wall slide.

As for level design, there's far too much reliance on homing missiles to create difficulty and the occasional level with a slow moving platform is more painful than 100 deaths.

Overall I found this more annoying than rewarding.

Juego de plataformas que va escalando en dificultad según vas jugando mientras además vas aprendiendo las mecánicas lo cual es de agradecer.
No ofrece mucho contenido, posee bastantes niveles pero en unas 5h te lo puedes pasar, para completarlo al 100% eso ya es mas dedicarle tiempo.
Pero en sí el juego está muy bien para ratos muertos donde no puedes dedicar mucho tiempo.

A very straightforward 2D platformer. As you can see in the trailer, the visuals are as basic as you can get, and the gameplay itself isn’t much more inspired. That doesn’t mean the game isn’t fun, in fact, it’s pretty satisfying to speed through those short levels until you hit the perfect 3-star time. Getting a 3-star time on every level is challenging at times but always doable.

As the player, you only have two special abilities. One is the ability to accelerate after moving in one direction on the floor for long enough, but the acceleration happens instantly instead of gradually, which feels pretty awkward. The other mechanic is wall jumping, which also allows you to perform an air jump right after. At first, that mechanic felt odd, but once I got used to it, it became satisfying to use. There are a couple of environmental hazards like saws, lasers, and rockets, but nothing too interesting. I think the game would have benefited from giving the player more movement abilities because, in its current state, the 155 levels start feeling quite repetitive.

If you like these kinds of platformer games, consider picking it up during a sale.

Es ist unglaublich, wie Nah aber auch wie Fern man seinem Ziel in diesem Spiel sein kann.
Umgeben von Lasern und Stacheln bahnt man sich seinen Weg von Level zu Level in dem man ein kleines Viereckiges Würfelchen spielt, das gefühlt manchmal nicht weiß wie man springt. Das zurücklehnen mit dem Controller, funktioniert leider nur dann, wenn man bereits ein Profi Spieler bei solchen Spielen ist, da man leider als Anfänger kurz vor dem Aufspringen vom Stuhl ist, entweder aus Freude oder aus Wut.

I usually like these sort of games, but precision platformers are only as good as the levels are.
There are some pretty fun levels in the 1st and 3rd world, 2nd world is pretty void of interesting stages.
. Most levels in this game are just annoying, frustratingly tedious, or just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. It goes for the quantity over quality approach.
. Side scrolling levels are boring as ♥♥♥♥, you spend 8 seconds standing still, do 2 jumps, and back to standing still.
. Levels that make you climb up huge towers are just cause physical pain in your hand due to the stupid mechanic of spam left and right in order to climb.
. Not enough difference between each level, most levels have the same gimmick and just repeat them throughout the level.
. Physics/controls are annoying and intuitive. Pressing both right and left at the same time while attached to a wall causes you to drop on the spot, but letting go of the directional key also causes you to drop, so performing precised wall jumps becomes way more complicated than it needs to be.
. There are 2 different missile launchers in World 3 that behave differently and yet are indistinguishable until you are in sight of them. The homing missile launcher doesn't actually warn you when it's going to fire unlike the dumbfire missiles, meaning you have no idea what it's firerate is leading to a bunch of trial and error runs usually. Which is not very fun.
. The firing sound for the missile launcher plays like 3-5 frames after the projectile spawns, which makes the sound cue completely useless as it misleads you into misunderstanding the rhythm of it's firerate.
. The missile launchers had an inconsistent firerate and reaction to the player. Sometimes if you approach line of sight of the missile launchers they would should immediately, sometimes it's a delay. On at least one of the levels you had to climb away from 2 missile launchers, which initially shot in sequence with each other, but as you climbed higher they sometimes just shot at the same time?

Unfortunately precision-based games require precision-developed mechanics and this just doesn't have it. The most amount of precision this game had was the dev precisely figuring out how to make the most annoying level possible.

I wanted to enjoy "Almost There: The Platformer," but several key issues have turned what could have been a fun experience into a frustrating one.

Firstly, the tight time constraints are incredibly unforgiving. I hate how little time you have to complete each level, and the fact that the timer starts before the cube even spawns is infuriating. Additionally, the random milliseconds needed for a three-star rating feel arbitrary and add to the frustration rather than the challenge. Imagine struggling for 20 minutes on a level, and when you finally complete it, you were 0.003 seconds too slow for the third star. That's just terrible.

The inconsistency in gameplay mechanics further detracts from the experience. Sometimes you get glued to the wall, while other times you don't, making it difficult to predict and master the controls. This lack of reliability only adds to the frustration, especially when you're already racing against an extremely tight timer.

In short, while "Almost There: The Platformer" has potential, the excessively tight timers and inconsistent mechanics make it more frustrating than fun. With some adjustments, it could be a great game, but in its current state, it's hard to enjoy.

A simple but challenging game somewhat similar or inspired by Super Meat Boy. The rules and the level design are really well made, and it's one of these cases where zero tutorials or explanations are needed. You understand the rules naturally as you go. The graphics are minimalistic but beautiful. The first levels are very easy to earn 3 stars. But later on, good luck.

Almost There is a fun platformer, but fails in a few places from becoming a great one. The controls felt responsive and the focus of wall climbing and midair movement led to interesting challenges. The levels themselves are bite sized challenges and I always wanted to do just one more. Unfortunately Almost There has very simple/repetitive visuals and music, especially compared to its contemporaries (Super Meat Boy and Celeste come to mind). This overly simple presentation lead to game feeling more like a early demo, a good demo mind you but a demo nonetheless. Overall Almost There was a fun challenge but I feel no need nor want to ever replay it. 5/10

I am 32 years old.

My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.

When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.

Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.

With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.

After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.

Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.

Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.

Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

Challenging hard platform game, i would recommend only if you want a real challenge. It's like a great mix of Super Meat Boy and Geometry Dash! There is achievements and trading cards too! I recommend

Classic indie game. Fun ideas, cool to see someone making something, but ultimately it ends there. If I made this, I'd be really proud. A lot of work went in and it's fun to play for a bit.

In terms of buying and finishing the game, there is just way too much going against it.
If I can die in under a second on harder levels, it should not take longer than a second to try again.
"Sprinting" should not be automatic after moving for X amount of time.
The wall jumping is interesting, but super counter intuitive. Why can I wall jump off of nothing after wall jumping once?

Personally, I hate the sprinting mechanic. Let me fully control it or remove it.
Reduce the respawn time.

If you fix both of those things, I think this game would actually be really solid. But how it is, I'd spend more time waiting on respawns and platforms than actually playing.

[h1]A fun little challenging 2d platformer.[/h1]
I am not usually a big fan of these kinds of games normally, but I got this in a bundle. It is fun and hard, but I wouldn't call it an impossible platformer. Visually it strikes the perfect balance of simplicity and still conveys what everything does.
It has very tight controls which are important for these kinds of games, they recommend playing with a gamepad, but all but a few select levels could be completed while playing with the keyboard, and those few remaining absolutely needed the gamepad.
But the only real complaint I have is regarding the boost pads in-game. They are invisible and sometimes they wouldn't even appear in the level for reasons I can't explain.

Overall a very nice challenging 2d platformer with just one major flaw 7.5/10.

I did not play it allot, because it's not my kind of game (I don't really have the patience to play this type of games) but it's a good time killer for people that like this type of platform games.

The games feels like ti's punishing you when you try to achieve 3 stars. I finished the first 14 levels and I need a pause and a beer now :)

Got all the levels at 3 stars just to say I did it, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I hated every second of it. First two worlds were fine, but the third world was basically just auto-scroller ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hell. It's worth the $1 and nothing more.

Fun game!!! Will take 5 hours to beat even more if you want three stars! But man not kidding about on precise platforming I did not finish just got to world 3 second page stopped because wow I can't keep up I be back when practice on some other platformers. Man getting three star on this game takes practice on the same level even if you know it just rinse wash repeat till the game registers I guess? Swear I got two stars off 0.5 seconds missing many times to a three star bothers me but whatever not trippin here just to beat it. You do not need three stars to progress for the final world.

Fun little game with 155 well-crafted levels.

There are a few unusual mechanics such as being able to jump mid-air once after a walljump. This means there is a LOT of pressing left and right repeatedly as fast as you can to climb vertical walls quickly - which I thought is fun but it can be physically hard on the fingers after a while.

~9 hours to 100% completion, decent game, maybe not for $10 but it regularly goes on a -90% sale. Achievements only pop after closing the game and can take several restarts to properly show up but they work.

While the negative reviews have merit and I completely understand why some people won't like this game - I enjoyed it!

Pros
-150 levels
-time challenges for every level (1, 2, or 3 stars)
-difficult
-nice minimalist art style

cons
-jump mechanic will make your thumb hurt, and overall doesn't feel great. Which makes this a tough sell - as the jump mechanic is 90% of this game

Def worth grabbing this game on sale if you enjoy punishing platformers with a good challenge

I am reviewing every game in my library and this is the 7th. Now, just like most of the other reviews I don't really know how I got this game but I bet its a bundle. This would be a fresh review since I hadn't touched this game at all until I started writing this review.

So right off the bat this is a very simple jump, glide, attach to walls and jump off kind of platformer. It got stages and it got highscores to beat. Its fun and simple. Though nothing huge I'd keep on playing nor do I see the replayability.

In the end if you like platformers with parkour-esc gameplay and highscores to beat and even if you enjoy something like geometry dash this will be to your liking. Overall a recommend from me but only get the game on a discount, since i don't see this being more than a browser game with a bit more gameplay.

Not recommended:
- Wall jumping controls, and interactions in general, are awful
- Many levels with lots of waiting
- Level design gets repetitive; one(-ish) enemies for 50-ish levels per world doesn't allow for much creative freedoms.
