Quick, basic, 30 minute to 45 minute escape room experience. Pretty simple, but enjoyable nevertheless. Puzzles are definitely not brain busters. The confined space of the "Abode" makes it hard not to stumble on all of the parts and pieces needed to succeed. Nothing to write home about, feels more like a proof of concept, or complete level of a game offered as a demo. Ran fine with PSVR2 adapter on a 3090ti.

This game is very short, and way over priced. I paid $4 in a bundle, and I'd say that is too much.
It's not a bad game at all, its just that games like Master of Orion are legends with dozens of play hours, and they're cheaper. But if you love VR escape rooms, this is not too bad of one.
Get it really, really cheap. Cheaper than I paid, and you'll be happy.
A nice escape room game with a slight retro feel (I know, with the high-tech elements as well) that will reward you with the feeling that you are a really smart detective. But it doesn't give it to you for granted.

It's fine. Simple VR escape room puzzle game. It kind of sucks to play since I'm used to smooth, normal locomotion from other games at this point, so being unable to move freely or turn at all was really frustrating.
Very short game. I'm spoiled by other VR games at this point and this one feels fairly lacking on pretty much all fronts possible.
It's entertaining enough if you can get this game for dirt cheap or in a bundle, but its normal price is too much at this point for how dated it feels.

Solid escape room type game. The graphics are a bit simplistic, but there are interesting puzzles and a lot of variety. This game can often be picked up dead cheap, so it's certainly worth a look. And you'll even be Finding Nemo in no time!

If you play the game and you're tall. There's a step where if you put yourself a little bit lower, it helps the game to read the position of your controller.
Short, elegant. For the Reverb G2, I had to load a custom binding, which was easy to find and load. It's a light escape room game, but it has just enough flavor and world-building to make it an intriguing and enjoyable find!
A fantastic play. Clever puzzles that click pretty easily. Takes about 1.5 hours to beat. Can't wait to play the sequel!
Abode stellt mich vor ein Problem: Ich hatte Spaß mit dem Spiel. Aber es bietet nunmal maximal 1h seichter Rätsel. Wie gesagt: Ich habe mich in dieser Stunde nie gelangweilt. Aber man darf nicht vergessen, dass hier 10€ für bezahlt werden sollen. Darum leider keine Empfehlung, das hat aber nichts mit dem Spiel an sich zu tun.
Wer Escape-Rooms mag sollte hier mal reinschauen, wenn es für wesentlich weniger Geld zu haben ist.

Okay we are going to start this off by saying that this game genuinely feels like I have spent WAY more time in it. That's how drawn in I got with the game.
I also want to say that I have yet to beat the game. Twice now I have started the game, put it down, took a break from VR for whatever reason, and now have no clue where I was in the game. So absolutely going to be starting it a 3rd time.
I have been in actual escape rooms before in real life and they are a blast. I've also played a few VR escape room games and this is the only one that I've actually found myself caught up in and confused by. Which is why it's so nice that unlike a real escape the room game there is no timer. I could take my time and just sit there and think about what I needed to do next. Some of the puzzles are so genuinely hard.
If you like escape the room games I absolutely recommend this. The graphics are pretty good. It runs good on my HTC Vive. I can't comment on the controls as it's been a hot minute since I played but I don't recall having any specific problems with movement. Other than if I recall it has teleporting as the movement, which I'm not a fan of as a form of movement. Take that with a grain of salt though as I might be wrong on that last one.
Worth the money and time. Grab it.

A fun but short puzzle game, I managed to beat it in around half an hour, but despite the short length, it was definitely worth playing for it's since of atmosphere. would recommend getting it with abode 2, since that game was even better than this one.
I'm personally a fan of escape room type games and this scratched that itch. I enjoyed it.

This game is a bit short, I managed to finish it just in one hour, and it's only because I've stuck couple times because I couldn't find some items in this environment. Well, this is always like that with escape room games, it's about perfect length before it gets tedious, so I wouldn't call it a negative, but just be aware of it when measuring if it is worth purchasing it for listed price.
Also physics and controls are a bit janky, tbh

There's a lot of stuff in the environment that is completely meaningless, I spent a lot of time chasing down clues that weren't clues. Multiple number puzzles in sequence, a number could come from anywhere, and where it comes from in the end is really not interesting.
I felt disconnected from the puzzles like they weren't stimulating. It was more about trying to figure out what matters and what doesn't. Multiple times I was holding something and either moved, or turned around, and the item was just gone or flung across the room. Actually turned out to be a way to figure out if a item was important because it would respawn if it was.
I also didn't understand the ending in the hallway just leaves you standing there until you quit the game. Maybe this is an old game and from just one developer. But it shouldn't cost so much if so, it's still getting sales today. I'm sure there are better escape room experiences.

Very short and not that interesting, plus the controls are pretty awkward (at least on an Oculus controller, seems designed for the Vive wands). You can't even pick up things remotely so anything that falls to the floor sucks to pick up, especially when your controllers don't track too well near the floor.
It was logical and fun. Well, except for the last safe, for that you need a wrist that spins 360 degrees (kidding)

I dont know how creative the puzzles are as I cant actually play the game. There is no consideration for less than able people and so there is no turning nor long grab.
Great escape room game with clever puzzles that all felt fair but still challenging.
Pretty fun and the puzzles are clever. It's an escape room, though there are two "endings" that you can get. Get it in a bundle if you can, it's under an hour of playtime but it's still fun. The game utilizes controller tracking in fun ways, and is easily playable without audio. I enjoyed it a lot.

Can be beaten under an hour but this really is quite a pleasant escape room. Fair difficulty with a quite a number of hints provided, with a relaxing ambiance in the room.

This is a fun, albeit bugged, game. I enjoyed my time playing it, and the twist ending is very well done.
While playing this game, if you feel like you've lost an item through a wall/floor/desk, you can reload your auto-save. From what I can tell, all key non-picked up items will respawn where they were at originally. Found that out after restarting the game twice.

Nice Puzzler, ~1 hr of Gameplay
Excellent escape room type of game. Works wonderfully in VR. Got this as part of a Fanatical bundle deal. Simple no frills graphics, but works. This game is circa 2016 so it must have been cutting edge in those days. Puzzles are logical and can be solved if you explore hard enough. I have played about three other escape room type games (VR and non-VR). This is about in same class as others. My setup is an Oculus Quest 2 via wireless with VIrtual Desktop. I also tried with Oculus Air Link, but it was a hassle. Virtual Desktop was much better and the Oculus Quest 2 controllers work seamlessly in Abode. My only complain is that there are a few serious bugs. I spend 4.5 hrs playing this game as I had to play it twice. The first time around, I already solved all the puzzle (collecting the disc and the image fragment) except one last piece. I am very sure I had all the pieces, but somehow it dissappeared. I replayed the game and looked for the same clues and items, and I completed it the second time. Also, items go missing if you exit and return. The first time I played, one of the objects that contained a crucial item was completely missing. However, when I exit and return to the game it was there!! I would give 7/10 for the overall game. The puzzles would be 8/10. However, if there weren't any bugs, I would have given a 8/10 for everything. Looking forward to the next game by this developers. I already have Abode 2, Conductor and another space theme game from this group. Will play it soon.
This is the first escape room type VR game I have tried and overall it's better than I expected. The graphics are pretty basic, but good enough, and most of the objects let you interact with them pretty well. The puzzles aren't too hard to figure out, but I did get a little stuck on one (looked up the solution) after realizing it wasn't quite natural to me.
This game is worth picking up for probably $5 or less, but even better if you can get it in a bundle like I did. I feel like the money was well spent, even for a relatively short game (a little under 3 hours really taking my time, but could be done faster).
The only complaint I have is that an object disappeared on me a couple times, making it harder to get full achievements. It was easy enough to start a new game and complete them right afterwards though.

The simple art style makes it easy to deal with, it wont clutter your mind like some of the more realistic looking escape rooms often do. The puzzles are about medium difficulty. It took me a little over an hour to figure everything out, and I didn't have to resort to a guide to solve anything. There are a few red herrings too, which I think is nice.

The controls are horrendous. You can only teleport, and there is no way to rotate than physically actually turning around. This game is not meant for sitting, or even standing gameplay, despite it saying so. I bumped my hands and head a few times in my small playspace, and found myself using a 3rd party tool to glide around the room.

Its fun, but controls are bad and its a little short.
Buy it on sale.

Puzzles are easy enough though I wish the hints and puzzle pieces were at least different colours.
I was charging the headset while the game was open so don't have an exact time, but it would probably keep you busy for around an hour - a decent game session.
The slightly dated physics feels a bit disruptive, but nothing broke and a few achievements got a chuckle. Pity there's none of actually finishing the title.
I'll definitely be checking out their other titles.

I am a huge sucker for Escape Room games. I used to spend hours playing the Flash ones back in the day. I think they are an absolutely perfect genre for VR and this is one of the better ones I've played. There's a bunch of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ asset flips VR games but this feels fresh and original. The sci-fi, detective atmosphere is consistent and the enviroment has little touches that help perpetuate that.
With games like these, really it almost always boils down to finding a key or a password, and it is just the clever ways of obfuscating that that makes Escape Games great. This one has a couple puzzles that I feel like I haven't seen before, at least in VR, and I was pleasantly surprised. It is not very difficult, only on one puzzle did I get stumped for a short period of time, but was able to figure it out. All the puzzle elements worked well and I only ran into one little bug that was not game-breaking.
The only gripe I have about the game design is that you are required to be exposed to the "hints" to be able to solve one of the final puzzles. I didn't need these hints but having to actively avoid reading them was a bit frustrating.
It only took me about an hour to beat the game with all the achievements. It was a thoroughly enjoyable hour, but it is up to the individual to decide if that is worth the full asking price. I am sure you can pick this up on sale or through a bundle. Either way, I think it is well worth a play.

Good fun, simple but effective use of VR in a basic escape room setting. Lasts around 60 mins total (so fairly short) however all 60 mins are solid fun so its not a bad price at all for the length of game

I bought this game back in 2017 and have only recently decided to play it. It's an alright puzzle escape room. For a 2016 released game, it's excellent. The problem is that it really doesn't have enough content for the normal price. I beat the game in about 45-50 minutes.
It also has several outdated mechanics. It's teleport only (although at least it has snap turning available). Interacting with items is very basic (although you can interact with most objects). You basically have these pointers coming out of a simple looking device where your hands would be (motion controllers)). However, grabbing items can be very finnicky and I often grabbed the wrong item as highlighting the intended object was imprecise.
There's only one room really (maybe 1.5 if you count the bathroom). While the puzzles are logical, they aren't that difficult, especially with a forced hint system. You have to find these hockey puck looking things which gives you hint on solving the different puzzles.
Game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting a steady 90 frames per second. While I didn't experience any game-breaking bugs, there were a few little bugs I experienced. The biggest one is that items would sometimes disappear. This can be solved though by quitting and coming back to the game. The game auto-saves when you complete a puzzle task.
Like I said, this was pretty good in 2016. Excellent for its time. However, now in 2021 there are better VR puzzle games that are more immersive and with better interactions. The Room VR just blows this game out of the water. Still, it's still better than the average VR escape room game (because a lot of them are terrible).

A nice escape room style game. I recommend this with the caveat that some interactions can be a bit buggy, particularly holding an item and teleporting with it; sometimes the teleportation ends up launching the item somewhere. Whereas I ended up creating a new game to fix it because one item seemingly disappeared, it turns out that you can simply reload the save file again and important items will return to their original positions.
I just completed Abode and Abode 2 and these are fantastic games! I loved the experience of the escape room, they games arent too long which I dislike purely because I was having so much fun playing them!
I would recommend these to anyone and everyone!
Not as good as the sequal, but very fun. As with the second one there are a few minor bugs can prevent it from being completed without restarting. Runs easily on max settings on a 4800H 2060RTX (higher power 115w mobile processor version) streaming wireless to an Oculus Quest using Virtual Desktop.
A very nice escape game, short (very, finished in 30 min) and not very difficult but really cool.
Graphically it's basic, light, even the least fast PC's won't have any problems with it, it's still cute thanks to a simple but efficient art direction. The controls work well, you only move by teleportation but it's not too disturbing, the room is not very big and you rarely need to move to be near the puzzle areas.
A lot of objects to move (chaaaoooos), the puzzles are simple but rewarding to solve, in fact it's the perfect little game to give VR a try or to give yourself a break.
As far as I'm concerned, I finished it in 30 minutes, and of course, like any other escape game, there's no reason to do it again. So because of that I have to warn you that the game is too expensive, currently 10€, as far as I'm concerned I got it in a bundle, but honestly and even if I liked it, having spent only 30min I'd rather recommend it to you when you find it at a price in the 5/6€ range or less. Unless you can get several people to enjoy it or you are a huge escape game fan.
I hope that the developers will not stop there and will continue because it is very nice.
I had a couple bugs that prevented me from completing the game (the last puzzle piece disappeared) but the main reason I would not recommend this game is because the price. The game is not bad overall but the sequel is only a few dollars more just go get that instead.
A very short yet charming and satisfying Escape The Room type VR Game. I would suggest getting it Bundled with Conductor as $10 by itself is WAY TOO MUCH for a 30min title, no matter the effort put into it. However, Bundled with Conductor, they both exceeded my expectations and on multiple occasions said out loud "Woah, that's neat."
Feels more like a Tech Demo than a full game, but with Abode 2 out, I'm more than satisfied with my short time playing and will be picking up Abode 2.
Not a bad little VR title. As is the trend, it's another very SHORT VR title, however. I completed it in less than 2 hrs (tho I did need to go online for a hint once). Even so, it was quite fun, the puzzles weren't too hard - but hard enough to make you think.
There were a couple of minor bugs. A key that I had which was supposed to go to my inventory, instead flew off through/into a wall. I spent a few minutes trying to find it, gave up, saved the game and loaded back in. When I did that, I found the key. Another time I picked up an object, teleported across the room and the item went flying, shattering, and making me lose an item inside. The aforementioned reload solved that problem too.
The sound and ambiance is good. The use of controllers was adequate at least. I found them a bit clumsy a couple of times, but nothing that couldn't be overcome with a bit of perseverance.
Overall it gets a thumbs up from me despite a couple quirks.
I'd consider this a baseline and great introduction to an escaperoom VR, doesn't work perfectly with all controllers and headsets and there are some bugs.
My first playthrough I threw a "holocron" under a rug and couldn't complete. After watching a video it was a bug after breaking a jar.
Second playthrough I knew all solutions and was simple.
Third playthrough about 11 mins (speedrun)
All and all recommended experience should take around an hour or so for the first playthrough, a big plus is there is no time limit so you can idle/think all you want.

This is a pretty good escape room. All of the puzzles are relatively easy; but not so easy that it feels like no challenge at all. I pretty much blew through the game and got stuck on one puzzle near the end of the game. I finally gave up and used a walkthrough that made me realize it was a super obvious solution that I was just missing. Abode does have some glitches and feels a little rough around the edges; but if you're a fan of escape rooms I think the well thought out puzzles more than make up for the relatively minor polish issues. One other thing to consider is that the game is very short. If I didn't get stuck I probably would have finished it in under an hour.
This is a pretty good little escape-the-room VR puzzle game.
The graphics are a charming mix of low-poly and high-tech neon, the audio is nice and quiet, the puzzles are just hard enough to make you think but not so hard that they're impossible (although how in the world was I supposed to know those were batteries???), you are rewarded for exploring every single nook and cranny, and the teleport-and-switch-90° movement didn't make me feel weird at all.
It's incredibly short (I beat it in just over an hour), so I'd suggest getting it on sale, but I loved it, and I think it'd be a great game to introduce other people to VR as well, since they can move around and interact with things at their ease.
I'll be installing the 2nd one right away.

Gut aussehen tuts, nette Rätsel, aber wenn man vorher neuere VR-Spiele gespielt hat, merkt man, dass das Greifen irgendwie komisch ist, man muss viel näher an die Objekte ran, als in anderen Spielen, und das Feedback: Jetzt kannst du greifen (Highlight in blau z.B.), fehlt auch irgendwie.
Die Steuerung fand ich irgendwie unintuitiv, das Inventar habe ich nur per Zufall gefunden, und habe mich vorher 5 Minuten gefragt, wo jetzt die beiden Ringe hin sind, die ich gerade noch in der Hand hatte. Ich dachte, sie seien aus der Map geglitcht, waren aber eifach nur in meinem Inventar. Dass ich ein Inventar habe, wurde nie mitgeteilt und ich merkte es erst, als ich mit der Fernbedienung in der hand alle Knöpfe durchprobiert habe. Ach ja, die Fernbedienung. Die funktioniert mit WMR überhaupt nicht, die Drohne ist nicht steuerbar, weil kein Trackpad vorhanden ist, und alternative Buttons mit dem selben Effekt fand ich nicht. Negativpunkt für das, denn auf der Steam-Page steht, es sei kompatibel mit WMR...
Generell nette Idee mit den fliegenden Hinweisen, einige Rätsel, die man lösen kann, einzig die Steuerung lässt zu wünschen übrig

A very cool escape room puzzle VR game. It only took me about 45 minutes to complete, so it's not exactly extensive, but it's a neat experience. My only complaint is there is no option for turning with the control stick, so the cord gets tangled up if you're not wireless.

This is a great 90 minute escape room with one giant flaw. You _need_ to ask for all the hints to escape. It establishes at the start that the glowing hockey pucks are hints. So I thought "Well, I'm going to win without hints of course." But the last nine hints are the pieces of the final puzzle itself. So yeah, no spoilers: use the hints.

Definitely a fun play through. On Rift Touch controllers grip is trigger and a couple bits are a little wonky, but I had fun and so did my 8-year old daughter though some things were tough to reach (There might be height adjust but I didn't try to find it). Makes me want to play abode 2 which I also bought.

I would absolutely recommend this game! I love escape rooms that make sense and this one does. The controls are smooth and interaction with the environment is comfortable and easy. Fantastic job guys, keep 'em coming!
Valve Index user here. I have to agree with a review by user Birdiest. This is a game from the early days of VR, and in 2020 there's better experiences out there for this price. The Developers, Overflow, do have a game called Conductor which I recommend over this. In that game, at least you're on the move and it feels more like an 'experience'. Maybe get Abode on sale, but otherwise look further.
Honestly one of the best escape rooms in VR I've played in. I'm a super big fan of Escape Rooms irl and this one is very fun without being needlessly complicated, definitely worth the price. I bought this with Conductor and I recommend both to new VR users on a regular basis.

What an enjoyable escape the room game this was!
Took me ~45min from initial loading screen to the start of the credits.
Perfomance was perfect with a gtx1080.
Every puzzle feels solid, you arent left wondering if it worked or if its working as it should.
Everytime i felt a bit lost i ended up finding everything i needed "under my nose" i just needed to figure out how to use the items i had available... and id be lying if i didnt feel it was pretty clever sometimes.
Allaround a very well made, clever, escape the room game. Id recommend it for any escape the room games fans.
This was a fun little escape room. Not too challenging but kept me engaged throughout.

I've played this game in 2020 and I don't recommend it. To sum it up, this escape room is fun, but really buggy compared to what is made today.
It is fine, but there are way better games out there for this price.
My play time is how long it took me - 1.2 hours. I've done a handful of VR escape rooms at this point and of the ones I've done, this is the best by far. Clever use of VR. People who are escape room junkies might find the puzzles on the easy side.
Cool escape room type game, I reccommend, but maybe not at 10 dollars personally. I can see others thinking it's worth it if they and others they know are into the genre, but I would say it is definitely worth it on sale.

Petit jeu très sympa, la VR est très agréable et les énigmes ne sont ni trop faciles, ni trop compliquées. En revanche pour 1h de jeu à peine, je suis bien contente de ne l'avoir payé que 6 euros . . . Et encore =/
Definitely a fun little puzzle game.
I would personally prefer it to be a bit cheaper since you only get around 40min of playtime out of it, but i will still recommend it for anyone interested.
played the second game first but still loved this game, both games have great puzzles, I got stuck a few times but all the answers are there not like some escape games that need you to be a maths expert or some puzzle that makes no sense, no you dont have hands but this is the 1st game so the second game does as it is improved visually in every way, both game are great and like I say every answer is there in the game you just need to find it, only thing is I wish there was a number 3, love the style of both games, graphics are great on both games, good thing about steam as you can up the sampling slider and make games look great.Played on the Rift S.
This is a clunky VR-only escape room simulator. There's no reason for this to be locked to VR only sales except the full awareness from the developers that without VR they would be compared with other 3D games and would fail that comparison dismally. Hiding behind VR only in the hopes of gouging gamers with headsets is, that's right, shady behaviour.
Also, a whopping $10 USD for a low effort low poly VR only game? No way.
Abode is a fairly simplistic escape room puzzle from the early days of VR. Bearing that in mind, it doesn't support the index that well and it's fairly clunky to use. Interacting with objects often does a weird collision and throws them across the room, they drop out of your hands when you're trying to carry something. Even though it only has teleportation movement it still made me feel ill in 10 minutes. You also can't rotate with the stick, which means you get tangled in the cable after a few minutes. Finished in less than an hour, too expensive. Ending is weird; there's a meme cartoon hiding behind the last door which is totally immersion breaking.

I like the graphicsstyle very much, and it's a very funny game, the puzzles aren't too hard (if you really like hard puzzles then this is not the game for you). It's not too long.
I bought it as a part of a bundle on indiegala or Fanatical, I can't remember, but I got it very cheap, I can't judge for others if the current 9,99 is too steep, for me it would be, but that's more due to me never really buying games which costs more than 5 euro's (if on sale).
I can recommend this to everybody.
My fiance is super afraid of spiders, but she totally reached for the shadow of a fly thinking it was a spider, and was totally brave. That's the level of immersion this managed to pull off. There was only one puzzle that really felt a bit "unfair" so-to-speak, meaning we had to google the solution. It was overall a really fun little game and I'm glad we gave it a chance! [spoiler] Only suggestion would be editing the "food chain" a bit and making the end of the game a little more clear. We spent about ten minutes trying to be sure the game was actually over [/spoiler]
Quite a nice little escape room. Pretty short but well done and fun.
