One of my favourite games ever
Awesome ol'skool city builder.
Takich gier już nie robią.... :) 10/10
Yes, this is exactly what you're looking for! Works perfectly.
This brings bac a lot of good memories. Game is just as fun as I remember. City building but with less tress than Pharaoh and lots of humor.
A timeless classic <3
Klasyka
I have played it for decades before. Great game, easy to understand and learn, lots of fun. a real classic
Been playing since my parents got me the Impressions Games city builder 3 pack,
Legendary game. Not as difficult or complex as its predecessor, Pharaoh, but well worth it. I come back to these games about once a year and love every minute. Fair warning: the 26 year old game only natively supports 800x600 and 1024x768. There are executable patches to increase the resolution, but they do not increase the size of the UI or world map. It was nearly impossible to read at 1440p, so I just got used to 1024
Pro tip:
Your treasury carries over between missions in each adventure - so its best to make as much money in the first level as possible before going to the next one to ease the challenge :) Also works in Pharaoh's campaign.
Classic old school city building game. Great set up, user friendly, very few glitches. Excellent work by Creative Assembly!!!!!!
A wonderful memory classic game cant imagine, which i play it again
The miss part still not hotfix; which means some audios conversation not appearance are :
1.Gods Ares and Hep invasion, Goddess Aph comes out to stop them.
2.Godess Athena stop invasion armies .
3.Godess Hera stop Zeus invasion.
4.God Zeus stop invasion armies same like athena, not just only hear praying. (knock down invasion 1 by 1.)
Back and forth, back and forth, I’m beginning to feel like Sisyphus
A very fun game to play
Please, give us a remake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brilliant Game. 10/10. Wish more games were like this.
A mi me encanta
Great game one of the best city builder
Fun.
its pretty good for an old school city builder. not as good as caesar iii but its fun. there is a sound bug though, doesnt always play sound.
good game
REally good classic PC game
nice
Classic city builder - tons of fun especially with mythology!
Wish they remade this with more missions and there were more mods for endless fun!
game the best
open world with free play sandbox options for seasoned players. interesting storylines, many fun but challenging quests. it hits the spot for the history nerd that lives in me.
I bought this game because it's a Nostalgia play for me, If you have played either of them on release, they have been combined in a way that makes both of them easy to access.
If you've never played before, please note this is a 2000s game and graphically it is the same as it was then. Functionally I've had zero problems with it and it works just the same as it did back in the day.
I've always loved this game and I probably spent hundreds of hours on it 20 years ago.
It has plenty of campaign modes to complete but there is also a builder so there is repeat playability.
Its more similar to the Pharoah series than say Age of Empires for example. Understanding how things work most efficiently takes some attention. Learn about roadblocks early to save yourself time and effort.
Super gierka z dawnych lat mega xD
:)
I love this game.
This game is awesome. Its everything a city builder who lieks Greek Mythokogy can hope for.
Very Good Game
Le jeu que TU veux vouloir
My grandmother introduced me to this game, I used to play it for months on end with her as a kid, and recently downloaded it online and played for weeks, only bought here on steam to leave a positive review.
oldie but goody
A classic! Only wish it could be updated to allow workshop mods, so the community could update it!

My favorite game

Nostalgie
I played this game when I was a little kid, so I write this with Nostalgia. I really enjoyed this game.
not too simple and not too complicated
I have played this since i was a kid and owned the original disc. Just buy the game if you like city building.
Enjoyable cA fun and engaging civ builder—challenging at times, but the adventures always feel fair and solvable.
I JUST LOVE THE ROLE PLAYING AND BUILDING I HAD ON MY OLD PC AND WAS GLAD YOU LSTEN TO ME TO INSTALL ALL OF THEM. JUST WATNG FOR EMPEROR RISING KINGDOM
Um jogo muito legal e relaxante!
Favourite game of my childhood, I had it on CD and played for hours and hours. Great campaigns inspired by classic myths and fun strategy challenges(like trading and relationship with neighbours)
Pleasant surprise is a DLC
Doesn't lose when compared to some new games
10/10
This classic is great, I loved how it got Cezar or Pharaoh game design, and I loved how I could sell like shrimp for marble or sculptures, a build temples for gods, all the menagmend too.
There is Nebuchadnezzar about Babilon, and Tlatoani for Aztec
Mycenaean bronze double axes and other objects (Rillaton Barrow, Pelynt Dagger) dating from the thirteenth century BC have been found in Ireland and in Wessex and Cornwall in England, proving at least indirect Greek contact with Ireland and Great Britain at the time.
The first known Greek to come to Britain was Pytheas who lived in late 4th and early 3rd centuries BC.
Posible inspiration of trade is in Stonehange, its megalitic form inspired by greek.
The Egyptians referred to the Minoans as the kftjw (vocalized as "Keftiu" in modern Egyptological pronunciation).
The Egyptians visited Crete during the reign of Pharaoh Thutmose I and other times and carried the brisk trade with the Minoans. It cannot be ruled out that the pharaoh himself came there. Such contacts existed during the Mycenaean period of the history of the island.
On this voyage, Pytheas circumnavigated and visited a considerable part of the British Isles. He was the first known Greek scientific visitor to see and describe the Arctic, polar ice, and the Celtic and Germanic tribes. He is also the first person on record to describe the midnight sun. He reported name as Prettanike (Πρεττανική) and Brettaniai (Βρεττανίαι), for Britain and the British islands, which became Britannia, it is assumed that its Hellenised version was under Diodorus.
Pretanī is Britain, It is quite probable that the description of Britain given by the Greek writer Diodorus Siculus in the first century BC derives wholly or largely from Pytheas. What is of particular interest is that he calls the island "Pretannia" (Greek "Prettanikē"), that is "the island of the Pretani, or Priteni".
Diodorus was Greek historian, known for his universal history Bibliotheca Historica. Originally, it was a 40-volume monumental work, covering the history of the Mediterranean region from mythical times to his own lifetime, around 60/59 BCE.
In ancient Greek mythology, the "Hyperboreoi" were a people who lived in a northern paradise of perpetual sunshine beyond the reaches of the god of the north wind. Their name located them within the Greek world; it combined the prefix "hyper-," meaning "above," and "Boreas," the Greek name for the north wind.
The Hyperboreans were believed to live beyond the snowy Riphean Mountains, with Pausanias describing the location as "The land of the Hyperboreans, men living beyond the home of Boreas." Homer placed Boreas in Thrace, and therefore Hyperborea was in his opinion north of Thrace, in Dacia.
It's nice to get houses to better level and form this game I learnd that to make army, first you need to make middle-higher class of land owners, so they can defend city(this is city builder) with personal armour and arment.
There is a lot of implemented, like burning so we need fireman or crime, and milita forces, good guy's, or hospitals, to prevent famine.
Greek before hellenistic, before macedonian, slavic was actually bronze age city states, of which one was on crete. We and Romans, are greek Philotimo!
Heziod (Hesiod) described The Five Ages of Man as a progressive decline of humanity from a perfect state, detailed in his poem Works and Days, featuring the Golden Age (god-like, no toil), Silver Age (long childhood, short adult life), Bronze Age (warlike), the Age of Heroes (demigods like those in Homer), and the current, wretched Iron Age (full of suffering, strife, and decay), showing a loss of virtue and closeness to the gods with each new creation.
The dēmos in Hesiod’s world belonged to the Archaic period of Greece (c. 700 BCE) — before democracy, when “dēmos” meant ordinary people, especially farm.

nu functioneaza !!!
This game absolutely entranced me back in 2000 when I was originally released, being at the ripe old age of 12/13, my strategy game experience was practically non-existent but this was the PERFECT entry point into the genre for me at the time. The cities feel lively, the UI is also very user friendly and easy to understand, and the quests are unique and (for me) educational. It really cultivated a love and appreciation for Greek history & mythology.
You can see the passion and thought that went into this game and the graphics hold up surprisingly well even 25 years later. I'm in my late 30's now and every few months I think back on this game with a warm nostalgia. I realize that there are so many more titles in the genre now that offer a much deeper experience but I consider Zeus: Master of Olympus one of the greats and severely underrated.
Vecchio gioco ancora molto carino..
It is impossible for me to review Zeus: Master of Olympus (and the Poseidon expansion) without acknowledging the massive impact it had on my life. Developed by Impressions Games, this wasn’t just a game for me—it was the very first city-builder I ever played. It set the bar for the genre, and quite frankly, it is the reason I am the type of gamer I am today.
If you love Greek mythology, this game is a masterpiece. The core loop of managing resources is satisfying, but the real magic lies in the Greek Gods. Building sanctuaries and temples isn't just a box to check; it’s a visual and strategic reward. Watching a god descend into your city because you successfully built their massive temple is a feeling that never gets old.
Make no mistake, beneath the charming art style lies a brutal challenge. Some of the maps feel almost impossible at first glance. Balancing diplomacy, trade routes, monster attacks, and fickle gods requires serious strategy. Yet, that difficulty is exactly why I love it. When you finally stabilize a city that was on the brink of collapse, the sense of accomplishment is unmatched.
Even years later, I still find myself reinstalling Zeus & Poseidon. It holds up incredibly well. Whether you are a veteran of the genre or new to city-builders, this is a must-play. It combines charm, deep strategy, and history in a way that few modern games have managed to replicate.
PROSTAGMA
Classic games that is worth playing again.
This game taught me Greek Mythology back in the day. I Still like it now, 25 years later
They MUST update it to remove that sprite limit. Modern hardware can easily handle 1999 sprites.
Still love the game and will play in the future again

Zeus + Poseidon is a classic city-building game that stands as one of the most polished and enduring entries in Impressions Games’ lineup, published by Activision. It combines Zeus: Master of Olympus and its expansion Poseidon: Master of Atlantis into one seamless experience, allowing players to construct and rule cities inspired by ancient Greek mythology and the legendary civilization of Atlantis. Though the game dates back to the early 2000s, its re-release on Steam has given both returning fans and new players the chance to rediscover a title that blends resource management, mythological storytelling, and strategic empire-building into a surprisingly rich and timeless package. It’s a game that doesn’t just ask you to manage resources and citizens but to navigate divine politics, heroic legends, and the whims of gods, all within the framework of a deeply satisfying simulation.
At its foundation, Zeus + Poseidon operates on familiar city-building principles, but it sets itself apart through its thematic depth and attention to mythological detail. Players begin with a small settlement, responsible for building homes, farms, workshops, and public buildings to support a growing population. As your city expands, you must balance the needs of your citizens—ensuring they have access to food, entertainment, water, and religion—while managing trade, diplomacy, and military preparedness. What elevates the game above a typical builder, however, is the way it intertwines these mechanics with the pantheon of Greek gods. Divine beings play an active role in the success or failure of your city. Ignoring their worship can lead to disasters such as plagues, monster invasions, or smiting from the heavens, while honoring them through the construction of temples and festivals can grant powerful blessings. This mythological influence gives every decision a layer of risk and narrative flavor that few other city builders have managed to replicate.
The expansion, Poseidon: Master of Atlantis, introduces a new campaign centered around the rise and fall of Atlantis, expanding the game’s scope and complexity. It adds new gods, resources, buildings, and units, alongside dozens of fresh missions. The Atlantean setting provides a unique aesthetic shift from the Greek mainland, with new architectural styles and trade systems that emphasize orichalcum, a precious Atlantean metal. The expansion also includes new technologies and scientific structures, representing the advanced nature of the fabled civilization. While the core gameplay remains largely unchanged from Zeus, the added content offers variety and a fresh challenge, making Poseidon feel like an organic continuation rather than a simple add-on. The combination of both campaigns gives players a vast number of missions, each with its own objectives and storylines, offering countless hours of city-building satisfaction.
The game’s sense of atmosphere is one of its greatest achievements. From the moment you lay the foundations of your first city, there’s an unmistakable charm in the way the world comes to life. Citizens bustle along cobbled streets, athletes compete in amphitheaters, and markets overflow with produce from local farms. The art style, while dated by modern standards, remains colorful, readable, and full of personality. Each building type and character model is distinct, allowing players to immediately understand the function and flow of their city at a glance. The interface is clear and intuitive, providing quick access to essential information about resources, housing, and morale. The audio design enhances the experience further—flutes and harps give a distinctly Greek flavor to the soundtrack, while the lighthearted voice lines of citizens and advisers inject humor and character into the simulation. It’s a game that feels alive despite its age, and part of that liveliness comes from how well it communicates the heartbeat of a growing city.
Beneath its charm, Zeus + Poseidon also hides a surprisingly complex strategic layer. Each mission introduces new economic challenges, from establishing trade routes with neighboring cities to producing specific luxury goods or dealing with foreign diplomacy. Trade plays a major role, requiring players to balance imports and exports carefully to maintain a stable economy. Resource management can be demanding, especially as production chains become more intricate—iron must be mined, smelted into bronze, and turned into armor before soldiers can be equipped. The interplay between economy, religion, and military preparedness creates a delicate equilibrium that rewards thoughtful planning. The game’s military system, while relatively straightforward, adds another dimension by forcing players to defend their city from invasions or expand their influence through conquest. The result is a gameplay loop that continually tests your ability to multitask and prioritize under pressure, yet never feels unfair or overly punishing.
The mythological elements further distinguish the experience from other city builders of its time. Gods like Zeus, Athena, and Ares can physically appear in your city, either to aid or to wreak havoc depending on how well you’ve maintained their temples. Legendary heroes such as Hercules, Perseus, or Jason can be summoned to defend your city from monsters, but only if you’ve met their specific requirements. These encounters transform what could have been a dry management game into a living myth. Watching a hero duel a rampaging hydra amidst your temples and theaters creates a level of excitement rarely found in the genre. This sense of narrative drama—of your city being part of a greater epic—gives Zeus + Poseidon a timeless quality that few modern simulators can match.
The Poseidon expansion also refines and deepens some systems, though it doesn’t reinvent them. New buildings like observatories and libraries allow for scientific advancement, while new deities such as Atlas and Amphitrite add variety to the divine hierarchy. However, the gameplay remains largely iterative rather than transformative. The expansion’s new scenarios, while rich in content, follow the same structural formula as the original campaigns, and veterans of Zeus may find that the challenges feel familiar after several hours. That said, the sheer volume of content, combined with the enduring quality of the mechanics, ensures that the experience rarely feels stale. The pacing remains satisfying, with each mission introducing new mechanics or objectives at a comfortable rate. It’s a game that rewards both methodical planners and creative problem-solvers.
What makes Zeus + Poseidon truly special is how well it captures the feeling of building a living civilization steeped in myth. It offers a sense of continuity and world-building that transcends its technical limitations. Every city feels like a small story—one where citizens live and worship, heroes rise and fall, and gods intervene on whims that test your leadership. While newer games have refined the formula with modern graphics and deeper systems, few have matched the charm, humor, and narrative cohesion that Impressions Games achieved here. The combination of strategic depth, mythological flavor, and handcrafted scenarios gives the game an enduring appeal that continues to attract fans decades later. Zeus + Poseidon remains not just a relic of an earlier era of PC gaming, but a testament to how creativity and design can make a game timeless.
Rating: 9/10
Very popular game back in the 1990's, it is still an extremely great game and I could not be happier with the fact that I was able to find it here
Nostalgique
Such a classic, worked great on my Win11 laptop - few newer games do. Yes animations are bugged, yes widescreen patches look weird - im avoiding em now. No screenshot button doesn't work without patching. I still am trying to make prettier cities, i am way too utilitarian.
If you have to pick this or SimCity 4, pick the more solid building - as Archimedes would be proud, but make sure to stop the spinning please, like whoa Milo totally wrecked his opponent, Nike must be on his side, the spinning is really making me ill here.
Nostalgia
great nostalgia, i wish this had a workshop!
The most enjoyable city building game
After all these years, this is still a highly entertaining game. :)
A+
