I love this game just as much as I love beating my wife and kids. First time I didn't just speed through the story and actually did other things which gave my wife and kids a break from their beatings. I love baseball and for some reason I decided to do all the baseball stuff, was fun and I would do it again. Dare I say Shinada is hotter then Majima?.... I can't, but he is a very close second, love his ass, in both forms of speech. I hate rhythm games but for some reason I loved Haruka's part which makes me think I should try other rhythm games again. Got to jork it to Majima again, so that's a plus. I also love hunting, I will definitely go back to that part and play it more because I rushed through it just to spend forever on Haruka and Shinada's parts. Just remember to take breaks to make sure your wife and kids stay in their place.

If you buy and want to play the whole saga I would personally suggest not to do it.
The Yakuza saga starting with 0 is like all you can eat chocolate ice cream, but the twist is every time you take a new cone the quality gets worse.

Yakuza 0 is peak after that gameplay and story take a nosedive.
Yakuza 5 still surprised me in regards of it's gameplay.
Unlike all the other entries from 1-4 it actually tries to vary the gameplay.
That's why I would still suggest to play this entry as well.
Yakuza 0, 5, Like a dragon and most likely infinite wealth are the only ones worth it.
Still didnt play 6, Man who erased his name and infinite wealth yet but as it stands now I'd say watch a story summary on youtube for almost all the games besides my recommendations above.

(I'm not even getting into all the side games like "Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii".

Anyhow all in all a 7/10. Better gameplay than most Yakuza games, overstays it's welcome a little bit and has many plotholes but at least it's not rubber bullets (you know what i mena if youve played yakuza 4)

Together, we are Yakuza 5. Despite being just about the same lenght with Yakuza 0 this game actually feels a tad bit more boring and slow, the story feels dragged out a little. But that's not entirely a bad thing, the characters are all unique and their stories are interesting.

Quite simply, if you already like the Yakuza series enough to have played the 5 games before this you have no reason not to play this masterpiece either. It's not perfect but its the closest we got.

Never give up.

When Yakuza 5 came out, it was easily the most ambitious game RGG had made up to that point, and you can feel it in everything. Five protagonists, five cities, a mountain of side content, new systems, new gameplay styles, more story, more spectacle, more everything. Holy hell, they really went for it.

That ambition is both the game’s greatest strength and its biggest weakness.

I loved it overall, but the pacing issues are impossible to ignore. Instead of doing what Yakuza 0 would later do so well by jumping back and forth between protagonists throughout the story, Yakuza 5 plants you with one character for a long stretch, gets you invested in their story, then finally ties it back to the larger plot and immediately moves on to someone else. It kills the pacing every single time. By the time the whole thing starts pulling together, it already feels bloated and overcomplicated.

That said, the opening absolutely rules. Kazuma Kiryu as a humble cab driver was not on my bingo card, but I was completely into it. Seeing Kiryu trying to live a quiet, honest life while still getting pulled into trouble was great. Kiryu is still great as ever to play too. We all know him, we all love him, and at this point we know exactly what we are in for when he shows up.

The cast overall is strong. Saejima was great to see return, and his snow-covered section was a highlight for me. His combat style has never really been my favourite, but I still ended up loving his section, mostly because the hunting and mountain stuff was awesome. It was one of the few times in the game where I fully stopped and engaged with what it was doing instead of just pushing ahead.

And then there is Haruka.

Narratively, I was invested. She is essentially Kiryu’s daughter, so of course I cared about what happened to her. The idea of a pop idol RPG-ish section where you build your fanbase and work your way through that world is such a weird, novel concept that I have to respect it. There really is not much else like it.

But the execution just did not do it for me. As someone who loves rhythm games, I was bored to tears by a lot of Haruka’s section. The handshake events were one-note, the side jobs were mostly more dancing or dialogue, and the dance gameplay got old fast. I can respect the idea on paper, but as gameplay it did not really work. Even though I cared about the story, actually playing as her was a drag.

Akiyama being folded into Haruka’s section was also a little disappointing. He is one of the coolest characters in the series, and I still would have loved to spend more time with him, even if I get why he did not get a full Part of his own.

Then Tatsuo Shinada shows up and basically steals the whole game, at least for me.

He is fantastic. The disgraced former baseball player angle is great, him being perpetually broke is a nice change of pace, and his whole vibe just works. Shinada feels like a character who could have carried his own full game or spin-off easily. His story ties back into the larger plot, sure, but it also feels like it could have stood on its own. His debt situation and Takasugi hounding him are some of the game’s big highlights for me.

That is kind of the whole game, really. Great individual stories, cool characters, neat ideas, but not always the cleanest connection between them. A lot of the individual arcs do not feel fully tied to the main plot until the last possible second, so the game keeps making you reset your investment.

Mechanically, it all still feels good. Even when a character’s fighting style is not my favourite, the game is still fun to play. Kiryu is great. Smashing through fights still feels good. And the music, as always, is outstanding. The soundtrack is huge, varied, dramatic, stylish, emotional when it needs to be, and somehow keeps this giant, messy game feeling cohesive.

There is also an absurd amount of stuff to do. But because of the structure, I actually felt less invested in the side content than I usually do. Normally I love stopping to smell the roses in these games. Here, having five different characters with separate inventories, money pools, progression, and priorities made it harder for me to really sink into any one part of the game. Because of that, I mostly mainlined the story.

The finale is messy. By the time I got there, I had kind of forgotten exactly what had happened in the earlier parts of the game, which honestly feels fitting for Yakuza 5. Not everything lands equally. With that said, Shinada’s story wrapped up especially nicely, and the post-credits scene was a nice touch too.

Still, despite all my bellyaching, I cannot help but love it.

Because even when it is overstuffed, tripping over its own structure, and making me want to fall asleep during Haruka’s gameplay, the sheer ambition of it is astounding. This is RGG swinging for the fences. Sometimes they foul the curveballs. Sometimes they connect on the fastballs. They managed a very solid hit here. They did not quite knock this one completely out of the park, but they absolutely won the game.

Yakuza 5 is too long, too bloated, too messy, and too ambitious for its own good.

It is also amazing.

7.7/10 - One of the most ambigious way of story telling in yakuza series, but have a good connecting point in the end with too much explanation scene that could be cut off 20% from overall game. Fighting+side story are still silly as usual.

Overall a good beat'em up game, with the usual style of yakuza story telling with less curve ball story in it but came with a nice presentation instead.

Частина яка перевершила усе що було до неї та навіть Yakuza 0. Тут значно більше різноманітних активностей. У нас є знову декілька "5" персонажів і у кожного не тільки своя сюжетна гілка яка майже ніяк не перетинається з глобальним сюжетом до певних подій, але й окремі побічні історії. І ці побічні історії насправді від звичайних сабсторіс значно відрізняються. Підкреслюючи кожного персонажа та його особистість та навіть настрій міста/локації яку герої обрали для продовження історії з попередньої гри (бо саме так, це все ще пряме продовження). І всі ці заняття та роботи по перше здавалися нудними, але затягнули й зацікавили настільки що я пройшов їх повністю до кінця (бо сюжетно гра не зобов'язує їх завершувати, можна просто піти далі). Воно того варте, бо як додатково розкриває кожного з них: Кірю, Саеджіму, Харуку, Акіяму та Щінаду(новий цікавий герой в якому навіть хтось може впізнати себе, бо його історія така близька навіть я знайшов відгук і цей простак мені сподобався з його минулим та теперішнім) так і в цілому слугує поглибленню в сюжет між частинами так це ще й просто цікаво як я писав раніше. І, Отже також завдяки цьому ця частина значно більша за Yakuza 0 та навіть дає посмоктати всяким GTA з їх одноманітністю.
Єдине що може й буде декого дратувати значна кількість роликів на рушії та значна кількість тексту діалогів й іншого, дуже значна наче якась візуальна новела або книга, або справжня кримінальна драма на паперових сторінках.
В цілому сюжет став комплексніше та приземленіший що пішло на користь, загадок все стільки ж багато, а сюжетні повороти наче й дивують, а наче не дуже, і наче фінал трохи сірий, але в основі це більш цільна кримінальна драма.
Тепер про мувмент героїв та heat actions, він наче трохи покращений і розширений. Однозначно сутички стали цікавіші, але не легші. А оці додаткові режими або спец прийоми відмінні від heat actions це така нова ультімейт що наче на декому як от Кірю воно дуже корисне, а на декому як Саеджімі наче не дуже що сильно звужує вибір ким грати...
Отже завдяки покращеним різним активностям та сутичкам імерсивність гри виросла.
Про музику наче й нічого сказати, навіть у Yakuza 4 було більше цікавих та таких музичних треків що запам'ятовуються.
От і виходить що Yakuza 5 однозначно варта уваги значно цікавіша за 2,3 та трохи за 4 і 0, а в цілому це пік серії. На даний час напевно наступні частини вже в чомусь перевершили цю. Абсолютний пік і впевнені 9.2 балів!

Uzun, yorucu ve bağlamından kopukluğuyla beni şaşırtan bir oyun oldu. PS3 nesline bu oyunla veda ederken ellerinde ne var ne yok koymak istemişler ama maalesef bunu ana hikaye ile kopuk bir şekilde yapmışlar. 4 de çok tutan 4 ana karakter olayı burada 5'e yükselmiş ve her karakter içinde ayrı mini game'ler tasarlanmış böyle kendine özel yan hikayesi vs olan ama ne ilgi çekici olabilmiş ne de ana hikaye ile bağlantılı. Kiryu Saga içinde süresi ile en dolu oyun bu ama bu doluluk maalesef iyi bir doluluk değil çünkü oyun 35 saat sürüyorsa 25 saati yan karakterlerin ayak işlerini yaparak geçiyor. Finalde aşina olduğumuz o Yakuzaya dönüyor oyun ama oraya kadar da baya sıkıyor. Oynanış açısından ise savaşlar yine keyifli ve güzel, açık dünya da sevenine göre baya etkinlik sunuyor. PS3 üçlemesi içinde maalesef en alta koyduğum bir oyun oldu.

It was a long, exhausting game that surprised me with its disconnect from the main storyline. As they bid farewell to the PS3 generation with this game, they tried to include everything they had, but unfortunately, they did so in a way that felt disconnected from the main story. The four main characters that were so popular in the fourth installment have been increased to five here, and each character has their own mini-games designed for them, along with their own side stories, but these neither managed to be interesting nor connected to the main story. This is the most content-rich game in the Kiryu Saga in terms of duration, but this richness is unfortunately not a good thing because if the game lasts 35 hours, 25 of those hours are spent doing side characters' errands. In the end, the game returns to the familiar Yakuza, but it's quite tedious getting there. In terms of gameplay, the battles are still enjoyable and beautiful, and the open world offers a lot of activities for those who like it. Unfortunately, this is the game I rank lowest in the PS3 trilogy.

Yakuza 5 is the Y0's ancestor and truly the only game that could rival Y0 in how good it is as Y0 type of entry.
Y0 is just a perfectly put together yakuza entry. Story, gameplay, combat, it's just chef's kiss, but yakuza 5 is where they went crazy and experimented with everything new in the series and a lot of Y5's content inspired Y0. It's not perfect, some aspects really suck, some are better than Y0, Y5 is a playground where they learned how to Yakuza 0, and damn it they made an exceptionally good mess of a game. Definitely worth trying out also dont buy Y3 kiwami

І так - 5 часттина серії Якудза порівняно з 4-ю частиною прибрала всі мінуси які були присутні в 4-й частині в плані сюжету! Мене дуже тяжко вразити новими частинами з якихось серій іменних ігор типу АС чи КоД, але "Якудза" дивує мене з кожною частиною все більше і більше: В один момент ти надираєш зад цілому клану, а в інший момент ти дерешься голіруч при нормальному такому морозі (-20) з Гризлі, але ні як не був готовий до того що прийдеться потіти щоб стати Поп-зіркою!) Механіки нових персонажів дуже лаконічно зєднуються в цілий механізм даючи можливість нею насолодитись і при цьому не сильно напружуватись щоб до них звикати!

通关玩了0 极1 2 3、4 5之后，我认识到了一个问题如龙这个游戏如果你期待有好评出现就应该遵循不关剧情而单单看小游戏、支线画面等等其他的要素能不能让你在地图城市里爽玩，因为你根本不应该对横山搞出来的傻逼剧情抱有哪怕一分的期待，横山做导演制作人剧情一定是垃圾！
遵循这个规则我才能给如龙好评所以我也是这么做的给了5好评，回想当初通关其他如龙的时候【除了4这坨狗屎】，就和5一样我就如同初中毕业的范小勇一样的心理状态。终于终于TMD通关了终于可以好好地在地图里爽玩了~！终于可以在评测区狂喷横山吃大便一样的狗屎剧情了！就除开剧情外的内容来说，说一句集如龙之大成者确实是合适的，不过是老如龙就是了。

哈哈那么接下来我要开始开喷这个傻逼剧情了。
本来玩到四为止我已经在其他视频网站上知道了很多如龙其他我没过玩过作品的剧情，但是没有去看全CG云游戏我觉得这算是很尊重游戏了，只有5和6中间到底发什么了什么事情让遥怀孕给黄毛的我是真的搞不懂，是什么让3、4里那么懂事的遥在5、6里变化那么大？所以我决定用自己的眼睛来认真分析下很多网站上说的：“遥也有自己的苦衷和理由所以才会在6里堕落成那样”诸如此类的意见。现在我通关看完了，不幸的是如我所料一般有大把时间玩游戏的大多数普遍都是25岁以下观念没有真正合理自恰形成的小臂崽子，这点就和日本人一样，只在乎自己的想法，而客观的事实对于他们所谓尊贵的自我意识来说完全不重要，所以才会有那么多对于剧情不合理地方的莫名其妙的辩解，该说不说，我甚至希望他们是SEGA公司或者如龙制作组买的网络水军在为游戏的垃圾剧情辩解，而不是真的那么想。
另一方面，在玩到遥从牵牛花去苍天崛当偶像出现朴美丽这个角色的时候我就开始在想横山是不是故意搞垃圾剧情在讽刺日本社会的状态？难道日本人就不觉得如龙剧情垃圾？在通关后以及翻找了steam日语的差评之后我的结论是日本人可能是骂人水平太次或者习惯了游戏没有好故事不觉得故事重要，翻看了10篇左右的差评我都没找到一个是因为如龙剧情垃圾才给差评的，很显然，正是粉丝和市场的纵容让如龙的剧情一代比一代垃圾，当我以为3代剧情垃圾的时候4代刷新了我的认知下限，接下来是5代、6代！听说7 8代的主角已经进化成圣母了！
而横山呢？他真的不是在反讽日本社会，他是真的，真的纯粹就是水平低的可怕，所以才会做出这么垃圾的剧情他也只能做出这么垃圾的剧情。根本没有什么角色自己的动机，几乎全都是为了他的垃圾狗屎剧情服务的工具人，一个角色为什么会做出这样那样的事情？就和相泽圣人最后在沙发上说的那句话一样：其实我自己也不知道....简直就是横山的心声，这就是他编剧情最大的问题，角色不是角色，只是横山脑子里大便的具象化。为什么我会在5下面留言这么多？因为我很确信除了无名之龙我很有可能给接下来玩的如龙都打上差评尤其是6！

朴美丽？我觉得这个角色死一百万次都不够发泄我心里的恶气，当初看到这段剧情的时候气的我狂喘粗气。拿什么“梦想”PUA桐生一马和遥，拿援助牵牛花做诱饵，结果呢钱还是他妈从秋山骏那里借来的，非要PUA桐生一马说遥有梦想，结果她说这句话的时候遥TM自己都是一脸懵的。遥：我怎么不知道我还有这种“U咩”？也就只能欺负欺负桐生一马这个傻子了，桐生一想到“U咩”直接立地大脑高潮了，以为是跟他自己当初在向日葵和兄弟锦山向风间新太郎证明自己的能力被暴打一顿也要混黑道那样的了。我只能说做古惑仔不用脑成世都是古惑仔，知道为什么你老爹风间当初为什么要一边做黑道一边养你吗？知道为什么真岛哪怕遵循如龙宇宙的天道规则莫名其妙被逼着打架或是做工具人都不用像你这样背锅吗？因为他们没有逃避自己该承担的责任！做黑道就做黑道你TM到底知不知道做黑道意味着什么啊？做黑道压根就没有“退出”这一说的你懂吗？也就大吾这个年轻人被你带跑偏了，一会又是守护东城会一会又是守护什么狗屁梦想和希望在3里100亿也不肯让你搬，也都是因为你的自私想法和原则。自分の責任持たない　ただ逃げることばかり　人の上にはたつてねえんだよ　このアホタレが！
桐生一马但凡你当过一天老大当过一天组长，你怎么也不会被朴美丽这个傻逼PUA，东城会四代目要想搞钱借钱随便去哪里露点面子手里随便漏点都够养活几百个小孩了还差朴母狗手上这点吗？别说你泽村遥要当偶像了，我看哪怕要当议员都可以。看看人家真岛多明白？把自己孩子打了也要当什么狗屁偶像实际就想博出位的臭婊子女人就赶紧甩了确实没有哪个男人能接受这种事情的。这种女人只配当母狗拿身体来给真岛用一用别跟我说什么给泽村遥当义母搞迷之感动的剧情了手里漏点小恩小惠就把这一对没有社会阅历的孤儿父女给骗的团团转了，怪不得那么贱呢，又是未婚先孕又是对被霸凌的洗白，你俩是孤儿我真的没招了还真怪不了你俩！就跟风间纯把你俩放养一样根本没有推心置腹的教育过你俩，牢A说大多数日本人、欧美人是短生种还真的没说错，就跟你同样不懂得教育泽村遥一样。所以很多日本人根本没觉察到5 6剧情有什么问题因为他们也觉得有莫名其妙的事情把生活搞成一团乱是经常发生的很正常的事情。
骂出来真的是让人舒服多了我看差评里有一个是说以为如龙是和极恶非道一个类型的结果不是失望了，按我说如龙如果哪天能够做一款作品能够达到四海兄弟的三分之二那都能成谢天谢地的神作了。确实，跟极恶非道里北野武的那种剧情制作思想搞严肃解构如龙跟这一比简直就是幼子の戯れこど。横山你个狗日的把剧情做成这样B样说是出海让市场能够接受，实际上就是给欧美的政治正确跪下而已，跪了就能给你按照日本自带的政治正确，掺沙子夹带私货就可以让欧美佬容忍了。

They did the multiple MC format again and I enjoyed it even more than I did in Yakuza 4 mainly because how the MCs felt different in both game play and story. I think that made the coming together at the end weaker but I won’t judge it too much as this was the only game in the series that I had technical issues. Throughout the whole game about half of the cutscenes would play the wrong audio for example Kiryu would be waking up in the morning and I would be hearing someone getting beat up which would take me right out of the story. The game play felt smooth as always and this was the first game that I fully completed multiple side jobs, that might be because it was fun, a good length and not a hostess club.

A flawed masterpiece. Story makes no sense, enemies spawn out the wazoo, Akiyama was totally shoehorned in and Shinada should have been cut out entirely. Outside of that, easily one of the best games in the series. Great characters, great combat (except Shinada), amazing music and some of the best side content in the series. Get ready to clear your schedule if you start this one. Its long as hell, truly epic in scale, but more than worth your time.

It was the worst yakuza game i ever played, the story telling is horrendous, shinada is a cool char but his story is so boring and super random, and if i could i would beat the sht out of the person who decided that final plot twist and boss fight, the worst final boss EVER. If i was kiryu i would end him right there so he cant appear in any other game.

The fully realized ambition of the PS3 era Yakuza games. Not only does it fix all of the narrative problems of Yakuza 4, but it also has a top-tier story that excels on its own merits. The finale deserves special praise for giving each of its playable characters something to do that prioritizes their storyline rather than being easy to consume. Such dedication to creating a multifaceted, morally complex experience especially serves newcomers Haruka and Shinada. Both of them demonstrate how far the Yakuza games can go with their longtime dedication to celebrating life in all its forms.

I, like many others, began the Yakuza series with 0. As I progressed through the other mainline titles, I had never considered one of them could be on par with what quickly became one of my favorite games. I'm glad I was wrong.

大ボリューム。龍が如く1,2,3,4とは比べ物にならないほどプレイ時間があった。およそ２倍。

中盤まで、主人公が切り替わりながら脈絡のない話がぼつぼつと出てきたので、これはまとまるのか？？と心配になっていたが、予想以上の大ボリュームでストーリーテリングが進んでいき、終盤で繋がりが生まれてきて一応全部が筋道がついた（一部疑問点は残ったが）。

各章ごとの主人公にはアナザーストーリーといって、タクシードライバーなど特別なジョブのイベント、ミニゲームが用意されていて、それがとても面白かった。

冴島はいつも刑務所にいる。それが面白い。

実はだれだれが黒幕で、だれだれが敵になる人間で、という意外性のあるカミングアウトがいくつかあり、これまでのキャラ作りから無理があるだろ、とつっこみたくなるような展開が多かった。特にラスボス。最後になって存在がイミフになった。
シナリオ自体は何度も裏切られ、山があり、ハラハラして面白かったと思う。

夢がテーマで途中から何度も登場人物たちが夢について語るシーンがあったが、不思議と嫌な感じはしなかった。むしろいいセリフだなぁと感じた。

龍が如くはシリーズを通して、登場人物たちの会話ややり取りに深みやおかしみがあってよい。
フルボイスのシーンが多いので、会話は音声をスキップせずに聞きながらゆっくりプレイするといい体験ができるだろう。
