Old-school rally game, somewhat better than the first, but that's mostly visual. Play only if bored with Dirt Rally 2 or newer, and need something simple. If you don't, just skip it, it not worth much time as it has no controller support, and the keyboard is not precise enough.
No recomiendo este juego ya que al no reconocer los mandos se hace muy complicado recorrer las carreras. Por lo demás es muy bonito y se siente como los juegos de la época.
Aunque por el precio no se pueda pedir mucho, solo pediría que añadan compatibilidad con los mandos.

I picked up this game and its predecessor (xpand rally) when they both went on sale for 54 cents. and originally I preferred the the first one compared to xpand rally xtreme. But as I played xpand rally xtreme I realized I preferred this one compared to xpand rally. Both games have somewhat good damage models, of course you're not gonna soft body physics with either title but cars to deteriorate where they get hit. the main deference is that xpand rally xtreme looks slightly better and that it has more customization. I would recommended this game if you have; a potato pc, small storage, or just want a bit size game.

Imo, Xtreme doesn't seem like a 2.0, but rather a [b]suite of higher difficulty to XR1, for players who are already familiar with how the game works[/b].
[h3]1. Rugged tracks[/h3]
In XR1, [b]every track is so flat that low+hard suspension is universally strong[/b], and you can afford to change tires as rarely as your underwear.
[b]Xtreme roads are much more rugged (some more than others), with bumps and pits everywhere[/b]. They are more harmful than XR1 in many ways :

[*] -[b]low+hard suspension is now very bad on some tracks[/b], especially for big jumps.
[*] -Xtreme features "[b]speed traps[/b]", straight lines with a sneaky bump at the end
[*] -[b]road borders are sometimes bumpy[/b], punishing you for not constantly keeping your four wheels on the track
[*] -rougher terrain [b]degrades your car faster[/b].
[*] -[b]hills, trees, building, rocks, etc.[/b] reduce visibility while being more harmful than the grass and barriers of XR1.
[*] -[b]killer pebbles[/b] are back, with some very annoying spots
[*] -[b]map flatness in XR1[/b] was forgiving to leaving the track, and would allow several shortcuts that the CPU wouldn't use. This is much toned down in Xtreme.

[h3]2. Harder maps[/h3]
Some maps are very technical, like [b]Ace Criterion stages 7 and 8[/b] (at ~20% of the campaign). These 2 have strong CPUs.
Each took me several hours in a fully upgraded car, properly tuned (high + mid-stiff suspensions).
The game [b]doesn't allow to practice specific parts[/b], so each failed try requires a new start. Because of that, mastering harder maps might take a while.
[h3]3. Stronger CPU[/h3]
In XR1, you can notably [b]beat the entirety of career mode without any upgrades[/b] (tested in simulation mode). CPUs regularly do mistakes, giving plenty of room to unoptimal runs.
Xtreme CPUs are much more locked in and not afraid of death. Some tracks require clean driving for gold, even with max upgrades.
[h3]3. Economy[/h3]
Since cars degrade faster than in XR1 (you now mostly want to buy new tires after every race), post-race repairs cost more. Also, the more parts on your car, the more pieces break, so the more the bill increases.
You can't unequip an upgrade, so driving recklessly with an expensive build might slow down the grinding process.
Keep in mind that retrying a map also rolls back the damage that your car sustained during the race.
[h1]If you die in simulator mode, don't click anything and press [b]alt+f4[/b] so you don't lose your progress since the last checkpoint.[/h1]
You can cheat your way through the super special stages (the high speed ones) by simply entering the race and pressing "try again".
This will result in the enemy never finishing the race, leaving you a gold medal even by driving slowly.
I remember trying this back in the days and thinking its hardcore and unforgiving...
And now I've just blasted through the career mode without breaking a sweat XD
I guess I can pat myself on the back for making such progress as a gamer ;p
Imo, it still looks good, and it's just very easy on the eyes with its colorful but not oversaturated color palette, sharp and detailed car models, long drawing distance, different times of day and weather effects affecting not only looks, but also the driving itself.
Cars are similar, but legally distinct from the real-life rally classics :) Each model is easily recognizable and you can tell where it draws inspiration from, even if you aren't a big time car guy.
You have to buy all your cars yourself, modify and tune up with your hard-earned money, repair if you destroy them and even change tires regularly.
It sounds more hardcore than it really is. Most of the time I managed to win races on first or 2nd try, as the margin for mistakes the game leaves for you is rather wide.
If you stay focused and use brakes sometimes, you should stack up big pile of cash and collect (or win in races) at least 3 - 5 cars in the span of your career.
So even if theoretically you can lose all your money and destroy all your cars - and therefore lose completely in career mode, it's rather unlikely to happen, unless you intentionally go for auto-destruction.
The game has few big maps with different environments, and all the tracks are marked out within their constrains. So, you will see the same corners, straights, hairpins or bridges on many different races.
It's all completely fictional, and only loosely mimics real-life rally stages, but is pretty creatively laid out, and will throw at you a solid flurry of different corners, hills and valleys, bridges, jumps etc...
There's a impressive amount of physically active assets around the tracks, so you can destroy some fences or barriers when you crash into them.
Also, many corners look like they were designed to be cut, often you can squeeze your car between the palmtrees and gain half a second on your opponents. It's risky, bc just a small touch of a tree trunk at high speed can shatter your chance of winning, but the game just let's you take that risk and doesn't restart your car immediately and doesn't impose a penalty on you for cutting.
Very cool, I like when racing games don't punish me for having fun :)

Управление будто из прошлого века: машина то скользит по воздуху, то вдруг цепляется за каждую кочку - ощущения от езды больше смешные, чем реалистичные. Трассы есть разные, но однообразные, а спустя пару часов уже зеваешь от предсказуемости поворотов. Физика поведения авто порой вызывает не азарт, а смех: прыгнул на трамплине - улетел в кусты, попытался затормозить - развернуло на 360 градусов. Да, для своего времени это, может, и был шаг вперёд, но сегодня игра выглядит как музейный экспонат - любопытно глянуть, но всерьёз играть не тянет.
И если этот обзор наберёт 50 лайков и 10 наград - куплю все дополнения и сыграю 100 часов. Улучшу значок до 5 уровня и схожу в монастырь помолиться за разрабов…

[h1][b]Little to no improvements over the first game[/b][/h1]
[b]Xpand Rally Xtreme[/b] feels more like a DLC to the first entry than a proper new game. All the systems, mechanics and UI are the exact same, the things that change are new cars, maps and also two additional modes to the game that you can unlock but it still lacks needed improvements over the last game.
The car handling still feels the same making you feel as if you're driving on an ice skate rather than a proper road, this is better with the Simulation handling but it still doesn't feel as intuitive as it should. You start out with much faster cars than the cars you would start out with in the previous game which arguably makes it a lot easier to win at least the first few races, but that means if you haven't played the first game and are not used to the car handling you will be crashing into trees quite a bit.
Put it simply if you enjoyed the first game you will probably enjoy this one as well, but don't expect too much from it and same as with the last one wait for a sale.
Better than WRC.

Ho trovato questo prodotto in offerta ad un prezzo molto basso, sapevo già di cosa si trattava; ovvero non di un simulatore professionale e dettagliato con una grafica con delle buone luci e tanti dettagli; bensì di un simulatore che mi fa quasi pensare ad un gioco semplice, in cui ti dicono "Sali in auto e guida...".
Quindi se come me, apprezzate anche i giochi retrò a prezzi irrisori, questo sarà una buona scelta!

It is built off the same base, has some of the same cars, and is basically the same, but has some wild vehicles and elevation change compared to Xpand Rally.
More of a focus on offroad stuff.

After my experience with this game I can't recommend this game to anyone. After playing the first one I was curious what the sequel is like. To my surprise I had to deal with time trials that we're unfair and maps that I started to hate. I recommend the first one for anyone curious about the game.

Фізика машин та пошкодження дуже приємні. Графіка приємна, око не ріже, а гру потягне й тостер. Файний вибір мап, поліпшень та авто. На 2025 рік, грається бадьоро. Шини, підвіска й інші атрибути - реально впливають на гру. Машину можна зламати, а потім треба буде відвалити пару сотень євриків на ремонт. А це тільки за корпус. Але нагороди у кампанії файні, цей момент збалансований. Атмосфера дуже добре зроблена, відчувається швидкість та оточення. Оточення, до речі, живе, але не чекайте на щось захоплююче. По скрипту десь олень дорогу перебіжить, чи який чоловік. Перебігають вони з далеку, тому не завадять, але ви їх 100% помітите. Бруд та пошкодження авто виглядають природно. Також, що до пошкоджень, тут усе поділено. Мотор, колеса, корпус, батарея, коробка передач, шасі, усе що основне - окремо. Також є пошкодження водія. Вони теж впливають на керування. Траси - цікаві, на них не нудно. Самі перегони тримають баланс темпу, не повільно й не занадто швидко, а це великий плюс, як на мене. На 11 віндовс запускається та працює відмінно, жодних нарікань. Є мультиплеєр, але я не перевіряв. З мінусів можу виділити те, що гра має максимальну роздільну здатність екрану 1280х1080 пікселів. Тобто, будуть широкі рамки по боках, але це зовсім не заважає, та й вирішується легко.
[b] Висновок: [/b] гра варта вашої уваги та часу, якщо у вас слабкий комп'ютер, нема грошей на щось дороге в жанрі "Раллі", ну, або будь яка інша причина. Тоді ця гра - ваш вибір.

Well, in this one the driving felt more "controllable" (for me) from the first game. The car was kinda smoothish with it's movements. Stages were pretty mid, overall I'd say that this title is 40% better than the first one.

Gra do przejścia w około 20 godzin, jak za 3zł na promocji nie jest najgorzej... Swoją drogą można poczuć nostalgie początku lat 2000 kiedy takie gry były dostępne w gazetkach w kioskach itd. Jak na dzisiejsze standardy nie zachwyca zawartością czy rozbudowaną rozgrywką, ale ktoś kto miał możliwość dostąpić zaszczytu życia w tamtych realiach wie, że wcale nie była taka zła... ;D

I am used to high quality rally games like Dirt and this feels like an early 2000's student project.
Dirt 4.0 and Dirt 5.0: Supposedly "arcade" games but physics are miles ahead of this in terms of realism.
Dirt Rally 2.0: Supposedly "simulation" but physics are too twitchy. Even so, its less twitchy than these physics.
On certain corners this car totally fishtails out of control, but even on "simulation mode" it doesn't even act realistic.
The game runs at a solid 75 fps, yet somehow it looks 'laggy' like on certain turns, the car is stuttering around like some kind of ancient MD2 animation.
Menu music is brutal and sounds like Unreal Tournament, but when the game starts there is no music. XTREME-ly lame.
I am recommending this game because it is 50 cents but I would pay no more for this game.

Un bon jeu Arcade des années 2000. Les voitures roulent bien, les étapes sont disputées, même s'il suffit souvent d'upgrader la voiture pour être meilleur. Un peu facile, ça. Les paysages sont corrects. Un défaut cependant: c'est un peu redondant. Au bout de 30 à 40% du jeu, on a tout découvert, on recommence jusqu'à la fin, un peu les mêmes circuits.
Mais la simplicité de ce jeu, très 2000's, est son atout: on peut se concentrer sur les courses assez longues, 4 à 5 mn.

Nostálgico e divertido. Da última vez que conheci esse jogo, ainda era pré-adolescente e comprei em formato de disco, junto com uma revista, na época saudosa das revistas que vinham com jogo de PC. Infelizmente não consegui rodar na época, mas foi um prazer reencontrá-lo na Steam e finalmente aproveitar a gameplay.

Um jogo bem leve e divertido para passar o tempo, gosto do jeito desafiador que as fases são, principalmente se for jogar com o carro sem nenhuma melhoria, recomendo para os jogadores amantes de carros e rally e jogadores casuais.
One of the best rally games for the price, honestly. Got this game for $1.50 and it's well worth it. controller and steering wheel fully work, and with a bit of research i found out how to upscale the game into any resolution i want, with working widescreen. Sadly the online is dead so you can only really play online with your friends. In summary I would really recommend this game to anyone into racing games or retro games in general

Xpand Rally Xtreme - это мои самые любимые раллийные гонки. Я никогда в них не играл в соло, постоянно у друга, у которого был диск. И это было охренительно. Мы рисовали карты трасс, подсказывали друг другу когда поворачивать, развороты, соревновались между собой. Ни одна из других гонок никогда не сможет подарить столько же эмоций.
Да, графика в игре уже старенькая, есть проблемы с запуском, но при этом - это игра, в которую я с удовольствием готов вернуться, погонять по каньонам, лесам. Количество карт меня всегда здесь радовало, их огромное количество.
Машин тоже не мало и они имеют свою физику, какие-то тяжелее, какие-то быстрее.
Для меня - это одна из любимых гонок, которые навсегда останутся в сердце.
Советую игру, если ищете какую-нибудь интересную гоночку 00-ых годов.

xpand dong (but different)
There is more car variety but "for some reason" less environment variety than the first game. There's some new and old environments reused from the first, unfortunately this game could've done with reusing more. A majority of the tires in this game go semi-unused due to a lack of stages that give you an opportunity to use them in the first place, namely the Snow & Ice ones. And another "for some reason" is that the cars that are new are also optional/post-game content, so the thing that sets this apart from the original is something you have to go out of your way for.
It's probably modded more often than the original game, but I wouldn't know that right now. As far as a vanilla experience, the first game is way better overall, but I wouldn't consider this a waste of time either.

Pretty good. If you like budget games from techland as far as this goes its not terrible, but not great either. You got your standard affair of driving, plentiful maps to choose from and music is an asbolute banger. give it a try if it goes on sale. 4/5
W porównaniu do pierwszego Xpanda jest zdecydowanie lepiej, ale gra i tak uważam że jest bardzo słaba. Grając w nią mam wrażenie jakby ona była niedokończona, jakoś tak nie wiem, wszystko to takie drętwe jest. Będąc na 82% w karierze, po przejechaniu jakieś tam trasy w Japonii wyskakuje mi okienko z informacją, że tam "Gratulejszyn, skończyłeś karierę, jesteś zaje*isty", nawet pomimo tego, że zostały jeszcze do zrobienia dwa etapy "Premium" i cała masa odcinków "Xtreme" (nawet jednego nie ukończyłem, bo chciałem sobie to zostawić na koniec kariery). Fizyka została dosyć mocno poprawiona, jednakże samochód często potrafi się zachowywać jakby nagle fizyka z GTA3 się odpaliła i się nie da go opanować, w dodatku zauważyłem, że nieraz przy hamowaniu nasz pojazd na sekundkę potrafi przyśpieszyć. Dziwne. Do tego (szczególnie w Chinach), kiedy się najedzie na jakąś hopkę i się jest przez chwile w powietrzu to samochód po wylądowaniu potrafił się zderzakiem wbić w nawierzchnię, przez co traci się dużo na prędkości, a nasi przeciwnicy nieźle zapierniczają i się robi małe zamieszanie. I skoro mowa o naszych oponentach to warto też wspomnieć o niezrównanym poziomie trudności, albowiem czasem w pojedynczych etapach nasi konkurenci dostają jakiegoś olśnienia i jeżeli nie przeznaczysz bardzo sporej gotówki na części, to właściwie jesteś w d*pie. Oczywiście z kasą zazwyczaj nie ma kłopotu i bez problemu powinno nam starczyć na większość części, ale zdarzy się też tak, że nam nie starczy przez co trzeba iść na poprzednie poziomy i gridnować hajs, co jednak nie jest zbyt fajne (tak jest w przypadku pierwszego wyścigu we Włoszech "Moonlight Racing" czy coś takiego). I po tym jednym etapie z opętanymi przeciwnikami, których ledwo udało nam się pokonać przychodzą następne, na których już bez problemu można zyskiwać nad nimi przewagę nawet 10-ciu sekund. Generalnie do poziomu trudności dolicza się jeszcze system uszkodzeń naszego pojazdu, który co tu dużo mówić, jest delikatnie (czyli za bardzo) zbyt czuły i nasz pojazd zbyt szybko ulega wszelkim uszkodzeniom. Nieraz miałem taką sytuacje, że przy stosunkowo niskiej prędkości wleciałem w ścianę/bandę to w moim gruzie zapalały się wszystkie kontrolki, a jak zak*rwiłem z pełnej pi*dy w drzewo to stan techniczny mojego wozu był dosyć dobry. A i w ogóle ciekawa sprawa, że w grze w której nie ma śniegu można se zamontować do auta opony zimowe xD. W owej grze jest jeszcze sporo dla mnie głupich i niezrozumiałych rzeczy, jak np. brak możliwości ustawienia proporcji ekranu 16:9 (fabrycznie w grze, bo wiadomo, że można se w plikach pogrzebać), brak jęz. polskiego (w polskiej grze lol), cena GPS'a z kosmosu (no ku*wa gps za 8000 euro?! poje*ało kogoś) i inne takie mniejsze mankamenty. I tak jak mówiłem, gra ani nie jest zła, ani nie jest dobra. Mnie sprawia wrażenie niedokończonej i trochę dziwnie mi się w nią robi karierę. Nie warto nawet za te 2,50 zeta na wyprzedaży. Lipa

Apesar de ser antigo, ele me impressionou muito por seu conteúdo. Ele possui uma boa dificuldade, variedade de carros e pistas, climas, dano e física de veículos muito boas. Simplesmente muito divertido, com conteúdo completinho e caprichado. Recomendo!

A great Rally racing from Techland and an awesome sequel to Xpand Rally. The graphics and the physics has really improved since the first entry. Definitely Recommend for trying this game!!! Its fun and full of dirt action. In latest systems this game might not work you might need to tweak the settings for it to work. You can also use my guide if you need a fix!

I recently wanted to refresh some rally games that would run on my laptop with integrated graphics.
I played some CMR 3 and 2005, had quite a bit of run. I also played some Rallysport Challenge 2 on my OG Xbox some time ago.
I never got to play Xpand Rally, but I remember vividly the screenshots in various games magazines with the screenshots of the first iteration back in 2004.
Now, let me get straight to the point.
Xpand Rally Xtreme isn't a great game in my opinion.
While the driving model is quite alright, I have a huge issue with how the graphics aged and how bland the levels are.
To say that the levels are bland is to say nothing, whether it's Malaysia, China, Japan, Italy or US they have this generic look and feel.
While they are kind of more open compared to more walled off in other rally games, they don't feel like rally stages at all.
Apart from that if you look at the textures, especially the roads, they are kinda blurry, generic.
If you run CMR 2005 and Xpand Rally Xtreme and compare them, the difference is striking.
To sum up, in my opinion it has aged like milk.

I was looking forward to seeing what improvements this version featured over the original.
It does not work with a controller, and the original does. The physics are worse in traction and better in gear ratios and acceleration dynamics. And gear breaking still doesn't work, and is honestly worse than the original.
I ran into multiple glitches in quick succession that made it unplayable.
This one gets a thumbs down. The original is fun to tinker with, but this one was just painful by comparison. And that sucks, because Techland has some spectacular racing and driving in their games, and I do enjoy a lot of their games. I was looking forward to this one.
Just play the original in this case. Or better go play Dirt Rally.

This game is borderline unplayable. Chrome Engine can not handle bumpy surfaces, which was not a huge issue in the original game (or GTI Racing if anybody's familiar with that), but in this game some of the tracks are really bumpy, meaning your car will be wandering whichever way it wants without any regards to your inputs. Big shame i didnt ran into these problems earlier otherwise i would have refunded it, but it did cost only a half an euro (was on sale)

Never thought this 2006 rally game would be this cool. Pretty good though it outdated. The only downside for me is that you gotta use the money you win for repairs, and sometimes it feels like you need to grind a bit. You end up racing the same thing like 10 times just to get enough cash. Plus, sometimes you need to decide which cars and add-ons from time to time to buy to win certain races.
