It's a good game harvest moon like game, the problem I had is that I was trying to get the achievements and about halfway through the 3rd season I had heaps of money and had done everything I could, so I had many days of waiting for the next thing I could.
took about 10 hours per season while playing the game properly.
also I am peeved that I couldn't romance the characters that arrive in town later, River or Fable were way cooler
It's amazing that (what is to me) a way inferior Harvest Moon -clone to Stardew Valley can still be this good. Strongly recommend playing the first year without a guide or other help. (Do check the television every day though.)
If you somehow haven't played Stardew Valley, that should take priority over this, somewhat obviously.
Somewhat think you should also first play the newer game from the devs, a Story Beside. It's super good, and I do think playing it first conditioned me into liking this more.
No option menu. You can run it in a very small window or a very weird full screen. It doesn't worth the pain when there are way better life sims out there
Couldn't play because the lag was driving me CRAZY!!! Apparently other people have the same problem. All my other games don't lag like this.

Definitely recommend, even as someone who's played a few different version of the the early harvest moon's and soooo many hours in Stardew Valley, I still enjoyed this little farming/dating sim, all of the characters and art style. Personally, I also find it has nice replay value and will be revisiting it soon.
I actually enjoyed the game despite a few bugs. The concept feels new, especially the festivals and the mixing of ingredients concept. Hopefully the bugs get resolved because it really is a nice cozy game.
Working through the games in my library and playing them all for about two hours. Wasn't sure what I expected going into this game, but absolutely got more than I bargained for. I'd say overall seems very simple on the surface, but with more complicated systems than what initially meets the eye. I like that there is plenty of time in the day to explore and get stuff done, and I love the map. I'm definitely interested to see where the story goes and what it all ends up leading to.

i just don't think this is the sort of game for me. i like my video games to have a familiar, universal way of reserving the ESC button as a menu button. this game does that... but in a different way that i'm not really crazy about.
the spock side of my brain doesn't understand why i would want to go through like 3 different hoops just to be able to save the game. the human part of my brain can see the sentimentality -- of ruffling through your knapsack/the menu you select with the ESC key and then selecting your diary in order to save the game... but the spock side doesn't see it that way. it just isn't my cup of tea, from a coding framework bones.

This game is so pure and beautiful. Doesn't overcomplicate things, do things at your own pace. Worth every penny.

This is a very cozy, simple farming simulator that's great for beginners to the genre. There's a handful of innovations, while other systems are simplified to a very basic level that makes them easy to grasp. Everything is adorable and the romances are very well done and cute!
The time is flying so fast i have the feeling of playing a speedrun.

I don't know, options, maybe to give the choice to player, as many other games of this category do.
Combines the worst of farming sims and the worst of RPG Maker games:
- slow-walking NPCs during intros
- even clumsier controls
- no quick slots for consumables like food and drink
- excruciatingly slow walking and running of your protagonist (made far worse by forced consumption of energy that perhaps should be only spent on working)
- ugly super low-res resolution in an age where even pixel graphics can be nicely displayed at 4k or 8k (resizing doesn't help)
In addition to the above:
- a bad, slightly unclear map (area borders make it a tad more unnecessarily confusing)
- no exact relationship points / points gain shown, even in the primer
- too early to sleep for the night (you can pass/speed up time, though)
- fodder for the cows disappears even when they graze outside (wth?)
- pocket diary also vanishing (from time to time)
- and many others, like manually putting items in the shipping bin, instead of with just one click or drag and drop like in all other games

I love this game and I played it for over fifty hours. If you want something that's a huge reminder of harvest moon friends of mineral town for gba, this is going to be what you want to play. I had so much fun getting to know the characters and playing through I really tried to get all the achievements, but the only problem I have with this game is that I couldn't for the life of me get the last one, Noah's Legacy, to unlock for me. I got every other one, and I just couldn't put myself through going through an entire other playthrough to get it. Just one of those things unfortunately, I tried everything I could think of, even getting ai to try and help me through, and posting ont he discussions page, but I got nothing. Highly recommend the game, but really wish that I could have gotten it 100%, especially for the hours I put into it.

Honestly, this was such an amazing game. At the time of this review, I've spent 34 hours on it and just got to the spring of the second year. This is my first time spending time on a review (so, sorry if I ramble), and I just cannot recommend the game enough. When I reached the end, I cried (which might be due to my crybaby nature, but STILL). I loved the interactions with all the villagers, and really appreciated just how much soul the game had. It was also really fun discovering all the little "side quests" like the rose rabbit and the dusk hoppers! The festivals were so cute and I went to each and every one, and I'm very close to 100%-ing the game! (According to steam's achievements, I still have quite a few things to track down on the collector's account... Probably MOST of the game can be finished in a single year, I'm just taking some more time since I missed out on some achievements!) It was truly an experience playing this game, and I look forward to trying out "A Story Beside" as well, since I need some other game to fill the void after such a cozy find. <3

This game is beautiful. A lot of heart was put into this, and I keep replaying it. Highly recommended.
I am cautiously recommending this game. Mostly due to the devs effort and passion for the story. While it is a farming and social sim it mostly focuses on the social aspect. The farming aspect is definitely side content. The townsfolk/social gameplay and story is good, but became too repetitive for me. I feel like most of my gameplay was running around the town looking for specific townsfolk or items to give them. The dialogue can become repetitious and even the festivals and events felt like copies of each other. I think a visual novel may have been a better choice to present the story as the gameplay seems unnecessary. That being said I still recommend giving this a try. Buy it on sale, you may end up loving it!

So far in the 4 hours I've put in I've liked some of the mechanics more. Inventory system isn't as limited, so that helps, too. So far the story's neat, gameplay is good and it's cute.
the controls in this game are just a pain in the ass. I still haven't found out where i could look up my current quest. Pretty sure it's not possible to do so. Because i was having so much trouble just trying to navigate the game i tried using a controller... which didn't help at all. At this point I just uninstalled it for now. Might try it again later when my patience has reached to Ghandi -level
This was my first ever farming game (yes, that includes harvest moon.). I've had the pleasure/luxury of speaking with Wayward Prophet about certain tools they've used to build the game(as I have also been working on one), and they're really great! The game is sweet, the music is fitting, and the art is so cute. The only complaint I could dig from the depths of my soul is the lack of being able to have a child. Which, really, I don't care. The story is good, the music is good, the wedding is cute. And at $10.99 CAD, I don't think there's any reason to say it's not worth playing. I find myself returning to this game every now and then, and it will always hold a very special place in my heart.
It's a very relaxing game, no fighting or running out of time. if you're out and about when it's bedtime the game transfers you home, and the only penalty for fainting is an energy bar that doesn't completely fill overnight.
I like the interface for the most part, and the villagers have more to say than most similar games. It is a bit slow starting but once you hit summer thing start to happen. I LOVE that if you give someone a gift that isn't on their like/love list they politely refuse it, so you don't lose something for no reason. There is a villager handbook that you can refer to that updates as you learn more about a character.
I would like the livestock to be a little less expensive, it took a while just to get a lonely chicken.
Your dog is awesome. He finds coins and once you hit a certain point you can send him on errands so you don't waste time trudging to the farm or ranch supply for one thing.
The only thing I don't like (Okay, I hate it. I said it) is the Lockball game. I play these games because I have zero have coordination and this game usually leaves me swearing. So far though it doesn't seem like a mandatory thing though so I ignore it.
All in all a very chill, pleasant game.
Enjoyable game with interesting characters.
Up until the lockball mini game, this was actually fun. I have trouble with my hands and have come across a frustrating pattern with simulation games. Generally, the mini games require a stupid amount of dexterity. This makes game completion almost impossible for players like me that deal with hand pain on the daily. I loved the game overall until I hit this mini game in my first summer.

If you have a mini keyboard do not bother getting this game. It requires you to use the arrow keys to move, with no option to rebind the keys. It is not controller compatible either. Hugely disappointed because the game is exactly the type I love to play.

Было забавно наблюдать заскриптованную сцену, когда ты не успел слезть с лошади и в следующем ролике влюбленная блонда бежит не за героем, а за конем с признанием в любви. В следующей заскриптованной сцене из инвентаря главного героя пропали штаны и появились на конских ногах. Так и бегал до конца игры - голожопый и с конем в штанах. Horse live matter!
Esse é o Harvest Moon simplificado. É possível terminar o jogo já no primeiro ano. Ideal pra quem gosta de jogos de fazenda, mas não tem muito tempo pra jogar. Recomendo bastante.

I can tell the game has a lot of soul and passion put into it, I hope you can overlook the use of default assets at times as the game content itself is pretty charming!
Here's the pros.
1. There're a lot of things to do in the game that'll keep you pretty busy! Besides the basic farming stuff, you can do things like digging the ground of fishing bait/treasures, working part time for the villagers, collecting ingredients around town to mix drinks, and there's tons of festivals in the game too!
2. There's multiple clothing and accessory you can choose to wear.
3. Dog is helpful, loyal and cute.
4. I find the villager's dialogue quite charming, the devs certainly put a lot of work in making the characters feel alive.
5. The pathing of the characters is great! Their schedule makes sense and it's easy to find where they are most of the time.
With all the great work and fun times, I do have some personal thoughts on the game.
1. While there's a lot to do in the first year, when it reaches the second year and when you've finished the main story, it feels like just another loop of the first year. Even though Amber has told me the stories of the festivals in the first year, she repeats it to me again in the second year as if I've never heard them before. Perhaps adding in a skip button would be nice.
2. Limited hairstyle & color selection.
3. Please let there be automation in farming and taking care of the animals available towards the mid-end game. As of now the only way to automate farming is to complete ALL the achievements to unlock auto watering. But by the time I've unlocked all the achievements, I don't need to water my crops anymore.
4. Would be nice if our character actually has a sprinting animation, but I understand it might be due to a lack of resource.
5. It would be nice to have the ability to sell your animals too.
Overall, an underrated cute and charming game, pretty cheap for what it is too. I hope to see more from the devs in the future!

你可能不會特地找npc說話,但如果路過會想順便打招呼,主線破玩也能繼續玩,不過這時可能就只剩下一些收集要素,沒有太多誘因繼續,我可能會選擇二周目攻略其他角色看劇情

Thought I'd give it a chance because I like this type of game. I found the controls to be really awkward. Arrow keys to move with no option to change. Tiny window, gets grainy if you enlarge. I couldn't figure out how to do much of anything, and I was too frustrated with other aspects of the game to stick with it and find out. Sleeping doesn't save? Also could not find any way to save from the menu screen either. I do love cozy chill type games, but this was just completely uninteresting to me, even without the issues I don't feel like it would hold my attention.

This game has daily relaxing play but also includes intense challenges like the Lockball mini game and tournament. Fishing mini games as well as dog and horse reaces and so much more. I highly recommend this game.
Boo. Why didn't I read about the controls before I bought this. You have to use arrow keys and cannot rebind to asd. Full-screen is grainy.
If you like the Harvest Moon series or Stardew Valley, you'll probably love this game as well. While a very simple take on the farming sim genre, the simplicity is what gives it it's charm

No matter what I try cannot play this game full screen. F5, F6 and Alt+Enter at start-up don't solve the problem. Uninstalled and refunded the game.
I usually try to consider the spirit of the game, even if I didn’t like it, but this game was so bad on a technical level I wanted to rip my hair out 5 hours in, and the only reason I sat through 100% it all was that I wanted to uninstall it without wasting a single further thought on it.
It ran like crap, but that might be because I was playing on the deck/Linux. Unplayable in the current proton version, 45fps-ish on an older one. Lagspikes especially on the farm plot. Movement and interaction just felt so sluggish, I found myself pressing the buttons so hard, my fingers hurt. A few crashes as well, once when changing maps, once when accessing a menu, and several in cutscenes.
This is just a warning — don’t get this to play it on the deck — and has no influence on my decision to rate negatively, since it was not made for Linux.
It’s a game that implements some of the staples of “farming sims” — farming, animal husbandry, mining, fishing, gathering, marriage, a few quests — but somehow manages to have every single one fall flat. There’s a 40 plot farming spot, but only 3 crops per season, and one that always grows, even in winter. There’s no ingame indicator for how long it takes those crops to grow. There’s no way to improve quality. You can upgrade your watering can. You can have a few cows, chickens, and a horse, cows and chickens give 2 produce after being happy for a week or two.
You mine in a 5 level mine, getting 3 different rocks, which are then faceted, random chance, into 4 different gemstones. Fishing is another annoying minigame, even worse at the start, when every single fish costs you one hour. Stuff you gather, with a glass bottle or without, respawns too slowly to form a reliable income.
There’s no benefit to friendship, no dates to go on (other than hanging out on the festivals, I guess), and the last 3 weeks of my ingame year were the absolutely most shallow marriage I ever had in a game. I never saw my husband, even!
Other things that made this game super annoying, in no particular order:
The map is incredibly boring. Every road is straight, with a few bushes and trees peppered around, and there are barely any shortcuts. One from the ocean to the village square on non festival days later.
You can buy a horse, but it doesn’t fit the artstyle well, is tiny in comparison, and -replaces- your avatar. That’s right, riding turns you into a horse.
Villagers have no nameplates. I am bad with names. I still don’t know more than 5 names, 30 hours later. It made me not care at all about anyone.
Crops grow on watering, not overnight. Every time the crop grows, the character does a surprised step back. Every. Single. Time. On. A. 40. Crops. Field.
The inventory goes only up to 99, with no warning. There’s not many objects that are likely to reach that, but I probably lost a bunch of rocks when mining, because I didn’t facet them each day, and I had to reset a day after harvesting my 40 crops and realizing 30 of them ended up in the void.
The lockball minigame is one of the most infuriating experiences I ever had. I needed 33 wins to max out my stats (one achievement), and spent about an hour skipping days in year 2 to reach the lockball tournament again, because I couldn’t beat it the first year (second achievement.) I don’t even. It doesn’t make sense. I have no idea if the opponents bug out half of the time, or are supposed to do moves you can’t. It’s not fun.
Which brings me to the next point: All festivals repeat, forced, in year two,without any change. I had to sit through that shepherd story again, I had to participate in the dance festival, etc. At least the lockball festival threw me right into a rematch with the final opponent (I’d consider this a bug, but a lucky one.)
There’s few objects that can be put on the quick bar (it’s made with PC in mind, so why are there only two slots anyway). I had watering can and shovel there, I don’t even know if anything else other than the camera can be put there. I would have liked to put the brush/milking pail there. Or the diary. Or the village primer. Or any of the key objects.
I took one look at cooking and didn’t even wanna try it. Luckily, I didn’t have to: The cooking festival has no achievement, and all the food for the Rose Rabbit quest can be purchased on one of the market days in December and stuffed into that greedy little bugger in one go, if you use the wiki.
Which you should. There’s 28 dusk sprites, spawning at a specific location, for about 3h each day, each day at a different location. I thought I had them all, but I missed one, so I had to check every single location a second time. Without wiki? I’d rather rip my eyes out.
Gathering is a joke. 2/3 of what you are “gathering” would basically be stealing. You take fruit juice from someone’s fruit basket in front of the house, take alcohol and vinegar out of their homes, mix coconut milk with water to get “milk” (what are cows for again?), but can’t make hot spiced milk with real milk.
Luckily, outside of using it for gifts, there’s no real use for it (if you skip cooking), and I guess you can save a bit of money for the drinking 10 beverages event.
Money. At the end, I had like 15.000 of it (went a bit overboard with mining), and I had no use for it. I didn’t even sell what I was gathering because I thought it might become useful. Spoiler alert: Nothing was useful. A few items would have been good as gifts, but other than a diamond and a fragrant flower (I used lavender… or well, I guess I used my whole inventory) I can’t remember needing any of it for a quest.
Getting people up to 3 hearts can be done rather quickly, and there’s little incentive to go above that, except for the marriage candidate you choose. Which brings me to the next point: I absolutely despise the “to show true love you need to marry! To finish the game! :)” questline. Great true love, haven’t even seen my husband in my house a single time, but at least he sometimes feeds the chickens.
A few minor bugs were there as well; walking people are annoying to talk to because of their hitbox, saw a wrong sprite or two, passed out drunk on my horse and woke up still on my horse in a house, where I couldn’t dismount, because “your horse can’t hear you here.”
I know it’s been made in RPG maker which has limitations, but it still costs money, and that is better spent elsewhere.
played it years ago not sure what has changed I remember how relaxing it was and fun also when I used to play it had marriage but you couldn't have kids no idea if that changed but I'd recommend this game to those that like simple game play

I bought this game because it looks beautiful and right up my alley, but unfortunately it is difficult for me to play games with out a controller and though this game claims partial controller support it doesn't have any. Maybe I will play this in the future but without being able to use my controller it will be left in my maybe list.
The controls are very janky- its hard to move and using the arrow keys is hard to adapt to. There are lots of bugs, especially with the characters moving in place or kind of just standing still around the map. With that being said, it's a very cute pixel game that's inspired by the harvest moon franchise. I would have LOVED this on my 3DS.
this game is alright but there are better alternative farming sims out there. (stardew Valley and Sun Haven just to name some.) but if you cant afford those this game is alright. the graphics remind me of RPG maker (not sure if that's what they actually used or not.) which is fine but it makes it feel a little dull.
i wanted to like this game, i really did.
i love farming rpg games, grew up on harvest moon. this game was just too boring to me. it shows that i played for 7 hrs but i really haven't. i would boot it up and play a few seconds then just leave it on as i go do something else forgetting that it was even there. i have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times trying to give this game a chance.
it doesn't grip you to want to stay and play it, and the pacing is pretty slow.
the play screen is pretty small for a pc game, you can enlarge it but it becomes grainy and feels uncomfortable to look at. the game also does not have controller compatibility. you have to use your keyboard.
i can't comment on other game play or the story line because it just couldn't keep my attention long enough to play to find out. i'm so disappointed and can't recommend this game to others.
ETA: I come back to play this game at least once every couple of years- Nov 2024 I'm still using my Rock Candy 360 controller that I've had since 2012 and I have no issues with controls. I've never used my keyboard for this game.
So if you're wanting to play this game without a controller- you're stuck with keyboard and you can't rebind keys.
Yes you can 100% this game within the first year, it took me 2 playthroughs to 100% this game.
This game is NOT going to take hundreds of hours to play, so if you're looking for a game to scratch the itch of trying to find more SDV, HM/SOS type games, then honestly this game isn't for you.
You can get married, but there's no children, no divorce, and the story ends after the first year.
This game is just very relaxing, chill, and simplistic. A game where it might take 40-60 hours to fully complete.

World's Dawn is the first game done by Wayward Prophet and it's a fantastic game. This game is more story driven than about the farming life aspect.
I like the game for being more relaxed and simplistic. There's no combat, fishing is easy, and all the characters are very charming. Usually with games like this I can find one character I dislike but in this game, I like them all for once.
You start out with a dog, and after awhile in game you also get a cat. So you get 2 pets!
You have a small plot for farming and you can obviously get farm animals.
You can have the same sex marriage too if you want.
If you want a more laid back and relaxed farming sim with romance type of game give this game a shot! I absolutely adore this game and I can highly recommend it!
The first time I played this game I stayed up for 21 hours straight from start to finish, but I hadn't done everything in the game. So of course I replayed it a couple more times. I even replayed the game when the dev updated it so Quint would be a marriageable candidate.

I grew up on and loved Harvest Moon, and have since loved games like Stardew Valley, My Time at Portia/Sandrock, Littlewood, etc. I wanted to like this game but found the controls so clunky and unintuitive that I just couldn't keep trying to play the game. It's a shame because the content itself is pretty cute.

i havent played too much of this but RUNNING TAKES STAMINA THATS GONNA BE A YIKES FROM ME CHIEF.
It's a simplified version of Harvest Moon. It has really cute festivals and backstories. My favorite part is courting your partner. The fishing minigame is also fun! There are some fun hidden surprises I didn't expect in such a simplistic farm sim, so I am enjoying it.
If you find yourself staring dumbly at the "hours played" value, wondering how and when did it get so high... you know you've got yourself a great game.
World's Dawn is exactly that. It does not revolutionize the genre, it does not offer constant thrills or excitement every other second... but what it does offer is lovable characters, beautiful music and a fantastic atmosphere you can really get lost in. Absolutely recommended.
In terms of Harvest moon knockoffs, this was one of the first to answer the call of a PC version. Unfortunately it didn't age well and everything this game has, Stardew Valley does 11x better. In 2023, I can not recommend.
This is an amazing little harvest moon clone type of game however, its fishing mechanic leaves something to be desired, Hence why I would not recommend this game . Not to mention, the screen size for this game is so tiny,
World's Dawn is a wonderful relaxing little game.
It has a lot of charm and thought put into it, the character are is really nice and the music is soft and relaxing.
Although I myself wish you could make more customization to your character (for example you can not be anything but a brunette in the game) the game itself does weigh up for it.
Warning - make sure you buy the darn blender!!
Summary:
This game went from interesting to addictive to tedious, with a good dose of frustration. I really enjoyed parts of it, but it could do with more polish. Pointless obstacles add irritation and make the experience a drag at times. Still, World's Dawn got me into the genre and I'll look for Stardew Valley next.
More details:
- The farming aspect and being able to explore, fish, mine etc. was fun. Trying to make money by growing the crops and cooking the various recipes was the part I got addicted to.
- However, the interface is poor and makes your daily tasks very cumbersome. Just going through your daily chores can take 3 or 4 hours in-game and several minutes in real life.
- Certain items can only be purchased once in the entire game. If you miss a key cooking item, you've really screwed up. This is one of those pointless obstacles that just seem to have been put in to frustrate you. It's the same with the shop opening hours; whichever shop you need, it's bound to be closed...
- Lots of people say they loved the cuteness factor, but actually, I didn't buy it. I adore happy stories and true love, but in this game everything was superficial. The marriage felt very forced, and I actually felt sorry for the poor sod (in this case Liam) sitting in my house when he should have been at work! There was barely any extra interaction, so it didn't feel as if we got to know the romantic partner at all.
- When it came to characters, the level of saccharine was actually quite creepy. It made you feel as if there was going to be a plot twist where they had all been brainwashed by an evil overlord and were secretly planning to murder you...
- To get all the achievements is impossible without relying on a walkthrough. (Example: dusk hoppers.)
- There are no words to describe how much I hated Lockball!
It is an entirely different flavor of Harvest Moon/Stardew Valley style game. In fact, do NOT think it is a replacement for Stardew Valley.
It isn't a perfect game, nor is it one that you can play for years and years, the game can be 100% in 1 in-game year.
Somethings are still a touch buggy or odd, but the foundation of the game is consistent and to put it bluntly... I adored this game.
It gave me the same feelings I often got while playing Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, it managed to scratch that specific itch of meeting people that have more going on in the background that you don't see immediately.
The festivals are very involved and if there is a romance option you are interested it, it is an absolutely pleasure going to date festival with them and wooing them.
And I do appreciate having a game in this farming genre that can be completed in a short amount of time.
I have gushed about the game to any friend that will listen, and its one that is firmly planted in my heart.
But I don't think its a game that you can CONVINCE someone to like, they have to be interested on their own to enjoy it.
Also Quint is in the game, who I would commit war crimes for and managed to marry after an update, so its a solid 10/10 for me, but perhaps I'm bias.
Not usually one to write reviews but I bought this game on the 29th of November, it is now the 8th of December and I have a total of 37:31:25 hours on this game. I've been looking for a game like this for so long and finally found the perfect one. I haven't even finished the game yet which is amazing I feel like there's still so much to do! It's the perfect cosy game and the vibes are absolutely immaculate in the game. I love the mechanics of the game, how absolutely everything works. I can't believe I never even heard of this game, this is definitely in my top 3 games ever. So much love for one little game, thank you for sharing this creation with us :)

My favourite part about Stardew Valley was the characters and the relationship building aspect of the game, so this game is like Stardew, but it mostly focuses on relationships, which is literally perfect for me. The controls are a little clunky, LockBall is my arch-nemesis due to this, but it's still a really fun game! I only got it the other day in the Autumn sale and I already have 23 hours. I know this game came out before SDV, but if you liked that game, I definitely recommend World's Dawn!

Cute farming sim with wonderful characters, great music and so many different side quests/mini games, it never gets boring.
I hate to say it but overall UI and game engine is absolutely terrible.
From steamdeck perspective:
The game runs at 15fps even tho it doesnt use any fancy graphic and probably has a low resolution textures. Couldnt even finish the intro.
From PC perspective:
For some reason I get random stutter and lags even tho my PC specs are pretty good. Not being able to use mouse and weird keybindings like backspace on X are just terrible. At this stage I highly doubt that these issues will be fixed so I dont recommend buying it even on sale.

Were it not for the fact that this came out the same year as Stardew Valley, World's Dawn would be a pleasant little Harvest Moon knockoff, and an impressive achievement for an RPG Maker game. Unfortunately, as it did come out the same year as Stardew Valley, playing it is simply an exercise in frustration. The controls are poor, the support for remapping them is even poorer, the default resolution seems to be about 600x600 and the upscaling on fullscreen is abysmal quality, the villager schedules are crudely implemented, the interface is clunky (though, again, an impressive achievement for RPG Maker), and the player character moves at a glacial pace across a vast map arranged in possibly the most inconvenient way possible. It's a shame, because what little I saw of the story and the NPCs was charming, but it's just not worth the irritation of actually playing the game.
This is a simple, fun game but with a few flaws.
First, the good: it's charming, with cute graphics and enjoyable gameplay. It offers farming, fishing, and mining, plus walking about foraging and digging. Selling is easy. The inventory is infinite. Energy runs out slowly and can be completely refilled once a day. There is a doggo for company. I'm five hours in and I've not scratched the surface of all that can be done, such as progressing the plot, raising livestock, or making friends. Though it's old, there are still online resources to help out.
Now the not as good: The controls are pretty heinous. I've finally found a mix of controller and keyboard to make it more intuitive, but it's still clunky. More instructions overall would have been beneficial. Fishing is not particularly fun, plus, it's takes one hour of game time to get one fish. Some things seem to be taking too long to unlock. In game achievements can't be viewed; they only show as a meter for how far it's progressed.
In the end, though, I do recommend it, especially if it's on sale. I find it relaxing and enjoyable, and while I still prefer CatTails, World's Dawn is (to my mind) certainly worth playing.
Don't look to this game for a comparable to Stardew or Harvest Moon - that's not the point. If you need to "achieve" a lot in a game, probably not for you either. It's a slow paced chilled game to just be leisurely enjoyed. I'm 19 hours in and still haven't unlocked any shops etc so plenty left to do. I read some reviews complaining about the energy bar and how long it takes to walk around - but I feel that is the point. Walking around with your dog allows you to find lots of coins and objects. I find a dip in spring mid way through the day carries me through to bed time. Some days I'll fish, some play lock ball, sometimes just visit a few people or nip into the village to buy something random. It's not even a tenner so not sure what some people are expecting from that! My only criticism really is that your dating is limited to 4 characters and once I upgraded my house was disappointed to realise the top floor is pretty useless, I wanted to move my bed upstairs etc but you can't. Once you upgrade the watering can a few tomes you can do two fields easily without losing too much energy. I also wanted to have blonde hair. But it's cute, chilled and undemanding. I really like it
i gave it a chance because it was $10, and i am glad i did because i got really into it really fast. it's a really good game and it makes me smile! the characters are fun, the art is pretty nice, and there's even some very minimal voice acting(a word here and there, a laugh, a "hmm!" and other such stuff). very surprising!
the game allows you to choose between a male or female main character, and it gives you a choice between being specifically into men, specifically into women, or both. i've never really seen a game like this that lets you identify purely as a gay man or a lesbian woman, so that was pretty neat!
there isn't much agricultural farming to do, as you are given a small amount of predetermined room for planting crops (40 plots if i'm remembering right), so you can't make a giant field of crops, but it's enough to get by and make some money while getting ingredients to make tasty meals for your funny neighbors.
as for ranching, your starter barn can have up to four chickens and two cows. you have to unlock horses via a horse-themed festival sometime in spring where you collect apples. there are 15, but as long as you collect 10 you can then buy a horse from the livestock store. a strange feature is that when you ride your horse, your character isn't actually riding it, and it's just the horse's model. it's almost like you momentarily turn into a horse, which is wild. it's weird but it's not a big deal.
as for pets, you start off with a dog you've had since before you came to town. it's already bonded with you, so it'll follow you around faithfully. while following you, it'll bark at certain points. if you have a shovel, you can dig where the dog barked and find spare change. it's a cute feature! eventually the livestock and seed stores will allow you to send your dog to buy items for you, which is nice if you're busy and can't run out that way.
another feature which is nice is that if you give a present that the recipient doesn't like, they say "oh i appreciate that you thought of me, but no thank you!" and they give it back. i've never seen that in a farm game before, and i've played MANY of them(more than 30 at this point!) it's something i've always wanted, since i've wasted plenty of good items on people i forgot didn't like them in past games.
it's a really great game and i love it a lot, so if you like farming games and can spare the $10, i'd say to try it out!
World's Dawn is an excellent little Farming SIm/Life Sim. I enjoyed my everyday routine of going to the bakery and working with Sparrow, and even dancing with him in that one celebration. Getting to know all of the other characters was also a pleasant experience.
I've only been playing the game for less than a day, and I love it. If you Liked Playing Games Like Stardew Valley, Sun Haven, Harvest Moon, and other Life or Farming Sims where you can farm, raise animals, build relationships, have your own home and pet, you would like this game.

World's Dawn is relaxing/life simulation game. While it's inspired by Harvest Moon series (probably FoMT, BtN or other's before 2004), farming isn't the core gameplay of this game. It's developed since 2010 with RPG Maker VX, so personally i wouldn't compare this game with other game which have higher price or far bigger development budget.
[h1]Story/Character[/h1]
The main story of World's Dawn is similar with Harvest Moon series before 2004. You move to a village with goal saving the the village. To progress the main story, basically you need to do 5 things such as farming, friendship & romance. While the main story isn't outstanding, it's better than i expected for Life/Farming Sim game.
Sugar Blossom Village has fair amount of lore & festival. There are few interesting secrets waiting to be discovered with OKish reward. The festivals are very fun & enjoyable, it's unique experience that i don't get on many Life/Farming Sim game. There are 4-5 festivals on each season to keep you engaged, although 2 of them are market festival.
There are 24 characters in this game, with 8 more as you progress the story. Each character are unique with decent writing. Each of them has decent amount of conversation lines for many occasion (take a walk with your dog, after marriage proposal, before/after festival, about new villagers, etc.). It's best part of World's Dawn, although i hardly can remember their name.
[h1]Visual/Audio[/h1]
Each character has lovely art style. I like it since doesn't lean too much towards cutesy/anime artstyle which is common on today's Farming Sim game. Most marriage candidate also have 4 different portraits depending on the season, which is nice addition.
The general visual of the game feels dull though, even considering it's RPGMaker game. It fares better during Winter & some festival though. Each season also looks quite different, so it's far more than simple reskin. Animal need better sprite/animation though.
The soundtrack is decent & it doesn't feel boring hearing it many times. Each seasons & some area have it's own soundtrack, although it's something you'd expect from Farming Sim game. The audio effect/SFX is only average though. On a side note, i also wish each marriage candidate has a bit more voice acting.
[h1]General gameplay[/h1]
World's Dawn core gameplay isn't farming, there are so many things you could do (fishing, mining, social interaction, etc.). I'd say World's Dawn is a bit of everything. The game offer little progression though, so the gameplay feel stale after 2 seasons. Combining that & linear story, this game has no replayability value.
The control is easy to learn, although little awkward. But due to limitation of RPG Maker engine, you can't rebind any action. While there are 2 free hotkey for item, you only can bind shovel & watering can. It makes barn work rough.
I also experience few bugs. None of those are game breaking, but could annoy you. Here are few that i could remember,
> Few achievement not unlocked on Steam
> Some items sometimes not shown on inventory if you spam button up/down/enter/back
> 99 maximum item quantity, where additional item you obtained simply gone. I proved it by through item shipping & cooking

This section review each game mechanics in more detail. Here's rough meaning of sign that i use in this section,

> (-) Negative, poor game mechanic or i hate the game mechanic
[b]Energy[/b]. (*) First of all, running deplete your energy. (-) At beginning of game, you only have small energy capacity so you can't do all tasks. There are many ways to replenish your energy in this game. (-) Consuming food/beverage is rather useless/costly, (*) while resting on bench is fine option only when you have time to spare. (+) But hot spring restore 100% energy which only took 20 minutes (once per day). (+) It's really powerful mechanic after energy capacity is increased. (*) You can use Eden Fruit to permanently increase your energy, (+) where you can obtain all of them within first 2 seasons.
[b]Farming[/b]. Just like most Farming Sim game, there are 4 seasons with different crops for each seasons. (*) Your farmland is limited to 40 tiles & possible upgrade only give 12 additional tiles. (*) There are only 3 crops for each season, excluding Wheat which can be planted on any season. (*) Initially your watering can only can water 1 tile at a time, but later you can get upgrade which water 3x3 tile. (+) The upgrade could be obtained with small amount of coin & watering few hundred tiles which could be obtained quickly.
[b]Animal[/b]. (*) You can have 5 types of animal: Chicken, Cow, Horse, Dog & Cat. (*) For first 3 animal, there's nothing much to do besides feed, interact, brush and bring them outside. (+) You just need to ring bell to bring all livestock inside/outside though, which is convenient. (+) Dog is quite helpful, you can send him on errand & bark on spot which contain an item. (*) The cat only act cute though.
[b]Fishing[/b]. (+) While fishing is also good way to earn coin, (-) it has really poor mechanic/balance. (*) It takes an hour to fish, where you only can get one fish with initial tool (Fishing Rod). (-) After you upgrade your Fishing Rod into Landing Net, the mini game isn't changed where you must hook one fish at a time. (-) Finally, you need to spend 20 hours to get 1st upgrade & 70 hours to get 2nd upgrade. I really don't like this since each upgrade let you catch larger variety of fish.
[b]Mining[/b]. It's quite simple, you destroy stone, get raw gemstones & refine it to jewels. The cave only has 5 depth where lower depth has better drop rate/quality. (+) It's really powerful way to earn coin, especially after pickaxe upgrade & increase maximum energy. (*) RNG is involved to determine which raw gemstones & jewel you get. (*) But since 2 process use RNG, there's small possibility you're very lucky & vice versa.
[b]Cooking[/b]. Basically i find it's unwelcoming. (-) You could miss chance to buy 3 out of 4 cooking utensils from TV program. (-) The next chance is either next year or festival on Fall/Winter. (*) Finding recipe also take some time, coin, effort or trial-and-error (only for mixture). (-) Many recipes (excluding mixture) need lots of ingredients where some of them only available on certain season, where i barely cook anything until Fall.
[b]Social interaction[/b]. (*) Giving item is fastest way to increase villager favorability. (+) The good thing is the game has manual which list what each character likes, although you need to find out their favorite item by yourself. (+) You also can talk to them, join certain festival & take part time jobs to increase their favorability.
[b]Other[/b].
> (+) There's TV in your house which gives some useful information, (*) although you only can see tomorrow weather forecast from 6 PM onward
> (*) To see list of festival, you need to buy calendar or see someone's else at their home
> (*) There's no portable map, so you have to remember village environment or going to sign which show village map
> (+) Clothing has some impact on gameplay, (*) although the description is somehow confusing
> (*) LockBall control is somehow awkward & locking mechanic is confusing, (+) although it's fun for me
> (+) Event-specific mini games is short, but fun while it's lasted
> (*) Foraging is just average, but has decent importance on this game
> (+) No tedious item management, everything is stored on your knapsack

While i have some criticism on the gameplay, the story & character are best part of World's Dawn. I find this game very fun for first 2.5 seasons & quite fun for later 1.5 seasons. If you're looking for relaxing game with good character/story & unpunishing gameplay, you'll like this game.

I absolutely LOVE this game! super cute art style, fun character interaction, and the game story is just lovely. i have played games like this one before, but this one is my favorite by far!
I love this game. The controls are simple once you get used to them, and it's super easy to put a lot of hours into it. The characters are cute and I love that you can do part time jobs for the shops to earn some fast cash while you're waiting for your crops, etc, to grow.
i'd say i'd recommend this game for its price! i think i might have gotten it on a sale which is even better! it's a cute game that's very stardew valley-esque, but much more simple. for me it's a bit more soothing and a good game for when i want a farming sim but want to be able to turn off my brain a bit more than with a game like stardew. feels like this is less pressure as silly as that probably sounds. i like the story line and the concept of some villagers having moved away and needing to bring them back to unlock certain shops. the portraits of the villagers are all very pretty too. overall i'm excited to keep playing and see what else the game has to offer as i'm still fairly early on.
pretty easy
It's pretty fun at first, and can be addicting, but gets very very repetitive and dull after a while.. There's not much to do on the farm once your chores are done so it turns more so into less of a farm game and more of a 'go to the village and find a way to use up the rest of the day' game. It's very barebones and feels like it was made in an RPG maker. At this point I'm only playing to get the achievements.
I wanted to wait to 100% this game before I reviewed it, and we're finally here. This will probably be a fairly long review, so here's a summary first:
I highly recommend this for fans of the genre, it's an excellently put together game that's fairly satisfying, if a bit simple. The game play is perhaps a bit too easy, but the writing makes up for it, and all the odd challenges you can do. If you're not a dedicated fan of this type of game, it's a good way to dip your toes in. If you want something on the level of Stardew Valley, you may find yourself disappointed.
Summary concluded, let's dive in. When I was a young boy, I played a little game called It's A Wonderful Life at a friend's house, and I was forever hooked. Something about the game play loop caught me and has never let go. However, as I've grown older and my tastes refined, I find, ultimately that most of the Harvest Moon (or Story of Seasons) games fall into what I call the Pokemon Problem. This particular phenomenon is a term I've coined where a game requires [i]just[/i] too much grinding for me to love it. Most Harvest Moon/Pokemon games have never been higher than a 6/10 for me personally, just because the grind's too damn much.
But I never gave up on the concept, something about is just too engrossing for me. And I'm happy to say there seems to be plenty of imitators on the market, including this lovely little game, with their own adjustments. Before I get too in depth, let me get my biggest problems with this game out of the way:
1. The controls are just a [i]little[/i] off. For 90% of the game, this doesn't matter, but for certain mini games you feel it. It's just off enough to mess you up and it's a little frustrating, but not as bad as others I've seen.
2. In general, this game's a little too easy. Energy (or EN) is your biggest currency in the beginning of the game, but you find yourself with plenty to spare thanks to a hot spring that refills your gauge once a day for free. Except for long days in the mine, I never really found myself short.
3. My biggest problem with this game is ZERO post game content. No New Game+ or the like. You can repeat the game with your character after the first year but the game itself just loops. Everybody says the same things as last year, the festivals are beat for beat the same (with no new prizes if you already woon), Paxel continues to tell you to find the shades in spite of the fact that you already have, and nobody seems to acknowledge the fact that you're married. It's possible to start dating a new partner (though not marry them) since the game just doesn't recognize that you're married in year 2. Your spouse still stays in your house, of course, but there's literally no acknowledgement of year 2. This is a shame. This game has become a bit of a comfort for me, I'd love to keep on playing it, maybe finding more hidden gems and new dialogue, but there's no incentive to do that (unless you want to grind achievements).
With those biggest problems addressed, let's talk about what I love. The art is gorgeous. It's not immediately apparent this is an RPGmaker game, which I personally think is a huge plus. Cinematic art, portraits, sprites, are all obviously lovingly done (although the cows look a little freaky for some reason...) and it conveys a very friendly, comfy style. Terrific work on this front, especially from a small dev team.
This is more of a personal preference deal, but as a dude who loves farm sim type games, I appreciate they didn't go over the top with cutesiness, which some titles in the genre enjoy to do. (I recognize that I'm not the primary audience for these titles, generally speaking.)
I noted the lack of general difficulty earlier, but the core game play loop is enjoyable and satisfying. It's not too difficult or grindy. I feel like the loop was very carefully put together to be just enough time to invest you and just short enough to not bore you. A lot of love is clearly put into this.
One other little thing I loved in this game was the subtle little bits of voice acting. It's never more than say, a giggle, or a sigh, or a harumph, but it adds such a great little touch, especially when this genre generally thrives on text only interactions.
FInally, my favorite part of this game is some truly stellar writing. I'm unsure if the Dev wrote this solo or had help, but regardless, I simply cannot say enough about it. Everyone- and I mean EVERYONE- is a joy to talk to, and they feel very natural, organic. This is so rare these days, in any genre, and it's what truly elevated this game for me. There's also so much dialogue- you don't hear repeats very often, most people have a lot of unique dialogue. It's wonderful, ESPECIALLY romance. Your spouse will have a lot to say, about you and themselves, and man, it's well done. Huge shout out to the wedding scene for actually bringing a tear to my eye. I cannot stress enough how naturally written it was. It reminded me of my own real wedding in a few ways. Outstanding work.
I see this game get compared to Stardew a lot but keep in mind it was released a few months before SDV was. Controls are a little bit janky at times (when moving around the world) but overall I absolutely love the story involved. The only thing I really dont like is how simply moving around the world makes you lose stamina when no other farming sims do that (although you can visit the hot spring once a day) but that isnt a deal breaker for me. The art style is one of my absolute favourites across all farming/dating sims. I think Worlds Dawn is absolutely worth its price and a completely different experience from other farming sims,
While I like the game, I can't help but feel that it is incomplete. There are 8 marriage candidates (4 men, 4 women), but after exploring more, they're all available at the beginning of the game (unlike many games like Harvest Moon or Story of Seasons where you unlock some later). Your farm only has 40 farming spots, and after further research, it only stays at 40. You can have cows, chickens, and horses, but I don't think you can have sheep (despite there being a sheep at someone else's farm). There are also some bugs where even though I get the achievement in the game, it doesn't count on steam, which is also frustrating for some players.
I'll still play this game for hours and likely still enjoy the story, but it just had so much potential and was abandoned. I bought it for $5, so if I end up getting 20+ hours of content out of it I'll be happy.
A very sweet and cozy farming game that, while appearing rather simple on the surface, still has a lot to offer if you're into this genre of relaxing and casual Harvest Moon / Story of Seasons-inspired experience.
At the beginning it took me a moment to get used to the layout of the village and to get my farm going, however once that was out of the way, something I really enjoyed were the different characters you slowly get to know and the seasonal events. They're what made the village truly come to life for me, and I also love how apparent small things such as feeding a stray cat often might have fun results later into your gameplay.
Oh, and of course, for the time when this game was made, it was very refreshing to have the option to romance whoever you wanted out of the characters available regardless of gender- Something that was one of my main issues with the old Harvest Moon games themselves.
I've played many games of this type, and I'm sure a lot of the persons looking into buying this one have too. But if there is something that stuck out to me and made me want to get this one was the clear passion and dedication the developer had for it from the very beginning even though it might not look as fancy as those games made by bigger groups.
I remember testing World's Dawn back when it was still in development and receiving direct replies to the few bugs I ran into back then in order to find their cause, and even though that might not sound like much, that kind of care in listening to the people putting time into playing your game goes a long way to make your project stand out compared to how many developers big and small often shut themselves away from their own public.
So I say, if you're looking for a cute game reminiscent of earlier installments in the farming simulation rpg genre, give World's Dawn a try. It's fun, you can play at your own pace, and there is a lot to discover in it that even I have yet to see. It might not be the greatest masterpiece ever, but it is good. And that can be enough.
