After the more "modern" experience of Steel Strider, Astro Port goes back to roots here: just a shot button you can put a weight on, a bomb button, and that's it. While it gets frantic on harder difficulties, the game is not a bullet hell, and reminds a lot of Toaplan games and especially Raiden, with those point bonuses revealed when some ground structures are destroyed, and one weapon being a lock-on laser, if not looking as great as the laser whip of Raiden II. There is even a "tate" mode if you can rotate the screen 90 degrees (I mean, I bought a monitor that can do that also to play games that support such mode).
The game is awakwardly inserted into the "Astro Saga" timeline as something happening to a division of the TDF (an army seen in other AP games), in some faraway place, a few years before Gigantic Army, Totally unnecessary.
The power-up system is simple yet midly original, as the pickup icons have arrows indicating on which side of the ship the weapon drone will be installed. I found the three weapons to be very balanced in their strengths and weaknesses, making a mix-and-match more convenient than just having both drones of the same type.
If you played any other AP game except Vulkaiser and Meglilo, you know what to expect in terms of graphics, for the best: artist SAK is an accomplished mecha designer at this point, any enemy larger than a tank or turret sports great detail, and seeing the giant wrecks of some bosses is satisfactory. It could really pass for an arcade game of the 1990s.
While it's a vertical shooter, it scrolls also horizontally, with a generous portion of the playfield not visible at any time. It has implications even on the gameplay, as offscreen enemies wont' shoot, so occasionally taking "refuge" on a far side is a viable strategy to reduce pressure from the enemies.
The most annoying element, noted by some other reviews, is the abundance of "sniper" enemies which constantly trail the player and shoot oblong purple bullets that, while clear to see over the backgrounds, are very fast and may be shot even quite close. Of course being constantly on the move is the way but even so, sometimes the window of opportunity to avoid such bullets is too short. Tanks and turrets, usually the low level fodder you save for last while dealing with bigger units, are the dangers to clear out first and faster here. It was not a surprise to me that the first phase of the final boss has it also releasing tanks at regular intervals.
WOLFLAME is a short game but, with 10 stages each with a boss (although the Level 7 boss is quite unimpressive compared to Level 6's), it's also a bit longer than average for the genre and, in any case, it's not a game played on the prospect that it takes hours to reach the end but to make a better run eacht time - or relax shooting down things on Easy! For such low price, it's a steal.

I like the enemy designs, and the music sounds like ARMORED CORE 4 music (turn up the volume).
Even on easy difficulty, it's still pretty tough. The smallest most insignificant looking enemies are some of the deadliest by shooting some crazy fast projectiles toward your terribly slow ship. They're worse than the bosses. So many things can show up and immediately kill you like pop up turrets, or aircraft showing up at the edge of the screen. Bombs are for defense. Always stay mobile.
STORY TIME! (or extended review or something)
This is the first game I've played in the "upgrade ship midgame" genre. I did beat the game on normal difficulty with minimal gear level and that was a massive pain in the butt. I died like 150 times through that. The repetitiveness of dying so often to enemy's quick attacks was tiring. This game is mathematically designed to kill you.
-The upgrade system takes your attention away from the enemies too.
-The game's story is exclusively told on the Steam store page, and on Steam trading cards. I prefer to make up my own story for this game.
After I learned to reload, I now love the game. Also, screenshots on the store page are inaccurate. In the actual game there's some metal backround filling the sides of the screen up to 4:3 ratio. And high score doesn't save if you do New Game. Taught me the lesson that survival is better than score, so I ignore the shiny medals.
-"The Long Haul" Steam achievement guide: I achieved it by doing NEW GAME, on EASY. If I died, I would do RESTART. Did it in one sitting too.
-Dangerous tip: The closer you are to the enemy, the higher your damage output, but you're closer to the enemy, so...
-[b]Terrible tip[/b] I've heard: "Many bullets are just for show". No, any bullet or aircraft on the screen is an immediate threat. You must've not noticed because your flying style is sitting still, pretending to play the game, or imagining you're some god gamer.
The other shmups I like are The Guardian Legend, Caladrius Blaze, Angel at Dusk, Natsuki Chronicles, and R-Type III. Cygni isn't as bad as people said, and Zero Ranger is also pretty good.
Questions (that I won't get answered 'cause I'm blocking comments):
Why do so many games published by Henteko Doujin not allow me to rebind controls to my Xbox 360 controller's triggers? Also, why do developers name the controls Button # and not the actual Xbox name? Are they considerate of PlayStation players not knowing Xbox button names? Angel at Dusk gives Xbox symbols, but still doesn't allow rebinds to triggers. Weird.
shmups like this one really give dark souls a run for their money.
It was alright, but I probably won't play much more of it. Some enemy bullets felt impossible to react to.

A classic vertical scrolling shoot 'em 'up. Maximum resolution is 1024x768, so do not expect much from graphics. As other reviews have stated, tanks shoot high-speed bullets that in late stages (8 onwards) are difficult to evade. Lowering the difficulty to "easy" does not help much. Your ship has 3 different types of weapons that can be picked up - pretty standard. The game is not bad, it's just mediocre.

Right when you get on the computer, I recommend getting into another game before this to get your reaction time up.
Makes the mistake of forcing you to hold down the attack button when there is never any reason not to be shooting, but I fixed it with a custom steam controller config that makes the Y button a toggle that spams the A button.
Basically junk in 2025.
The sniping bullets are way too fast, and there are a lot of technical port problems too.
Resolution options suck, gamepad support is kinda iffy ...etc.

Stock standards vertical scrolling shoot'em'up with generally slow pacing and limited upgrade variety.
Lots of hell in your bullet, I would have liked a 'Raptor-like' game to not be 1-hit kill. The bosses are a bit easy and the chaos of many regular enemies is a bit hard if you're gifted with the special hell of 0 or 1 sidearm spawn when you load in.
For 2.08 CAD I'm only a little disappointed with my purchase because I know if the upgrade ships ALWAYS fed you sidearms first it would be a much smoother game.
Es un buen matamarcianos o Shoot´Em Up clásico, es tipo Rayden, sencillo, con tres tipos de armas que pueden evolucionar al coger el mismo tipo de power up, estas son balas, rayo laser recto y buscador de enemigos por laser, colores rojo, verde y azul, y poco más, ah! y las bombas, jeje, que no falten las bombas que hacen una gran explosión donde las actives, aunque no cubre toda la pantalla la explosión, muy útiles para enemigos final de fase.
Es el típico matamarcianos bien hecho, con tanques por el suelo, barcos en las fases de mar, etc...muy manido todo pero como digo bien, hecho. Yo lo recomiendo este Wolflame si buscas un mata mata de siempre.

This is a fantastic homage to old school shooters. Feels very much like a Raiden game, twin cobra, donpachi. The explosions are glorious and this is a must play for Shmup fans
I first tried [b]Satazius[/b] and [b]Zangeki Warp[/b] and within the first couple of levels in those games I ran into some trial & error or gotcha! style traps.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that [b]Wolflame[/b], while less colourful and showy than say, [b]Satazius[/b] at least wasn't doing this to me. I was having quite a bit of fun and it was bringing games like [b]Raiden[/b] and [b]Tyrian[/b] to mind. I actually thought this was going to be a positive rec when I was more than halfway through the game.
At some point though, I encountered a bullet pattern that slowly closed around me, leaving me with no way out. I had a bit more patience for the [i]Gotcha![/i] this time, as I was a number of levels deep and more invested in the experience by the time this happened. I pushed on, and then in a later level it happened again. This time I was on the left side of the screen, and enemies came in from that direction right on top of me, instantly killing me before I could react. The issue is there is no warning or telegraph.
I was still hanging in there with [b]Wolflame[/b], until stage 7 or 8, when the game started throwing a lot more tanks at me. Tanks suck. These enemies fire projectiles VERY fast. They're like snipers that are targetting you for a while and then let off a fast shot, so fast that you can barely dodge out of the way. There had been a few of these earlier in the game, but now I was having to deal with hordes of them. You're kind of forced to take them out or hide out of range of them. But it feels like a real crap shoot trying to deal with them and not in a way I find fun.
Now just because I hate the tanks (and some of the other negative rec players hate the tanks) doesn't mean you won't enjoy trying to deal with them, but I digress.
The music is.. harmless. Lively vibes in the background but nothing memorable or exciting going on with it.
I do feel that with a little more polish, these games could be more accessible and less frustrating than they are currently.
This is a simplistic SHUMP, the gameplay reminds me of Raiden.
The Annoying part are that, some enemy bullets are so fast that... you are trying to side step instead of calculating where to move into, i don't mind if there are a lot of bullets but with enough time reaction, but these bullets, they are annoying !
This game had like 10 stages, each stages with some cool n big boss to kill.

And you are given a atomic bomb when things go south.

Weak sound effects hurt an otherwise EXCELLENT experience...I am impressed with the music, flow, enemy patterns, and those deadly tanks! The tanks make you dodge and weave constantly, I love it.
The weapon system is simple yet interesting, green lasers are the start of the show with regards to how they make you time shots.
An easy 8/10 or B+ (if you prefer).

Based on classic vertical shmups of the arcade games epoch (idk if that makes sense lol) - usual trope for Astro Port games (which I usually personally adore).

It's pretty good. Casual experience difficulty-wise, compared to similar arcade games, but can be challenging at harder difficulty settings. Music, though simple, kind of slaps.
Wolflame é um jogo estranho, definitivamente um jogo estranho.
Ele é simples, bem barato, extremamente apegado ao básico em tudo e fica nisso. Poderia ser uma experiência divertida mas existe um enorme desbalanceamento dentro do jogo. O jogo tem 4 dificuldades, e o jogo obviamente te orienta a jogar no Normal, mas o Normal é insano de difícil e o Easy é fácil demais (exceto as duas fases finais).
Sabendo disso, nem dá vontade de testar o Hard ou Insane, porque não existe um bom balanço do jogo em aprender e decorar os padrões pra depois voltar em dificuldades maiores. Além disso, a música é um plano de fundo, soa como se fosse totalmente inexistente (o que é MUITO estranho porque shmups geralmente tem trilhas sonoras boas, embora nem todas memoráveis), a bomba é sem graça e não é muito gratificante dar power-up na nave, até porque ela morre muito rápido.
Isso devido ao problema da sua nave ser MUITO LENTA num jogo que não é bullet hell, mas os inimigos comuns como tanques e naves atiram em você numa velocidade que beira o sônico em certos momentos. Mesmo no Easy vai ter momentos que vai morrer no susto porque não dá pra reagir as balas, você precisa estar se movimentando ANTES de algo vir até você, mesmo que no caminho você se choque com outras balas ou inimigos, lasers, e afins.
Wolflame é um jogo bonito, apesar de genéricos os gráficos são muito bons apesar de simples, e só. Pois todo o resto é chato demais se for no Easy ou frustrante demais se for no Normal, o que com certeza me faz nem ter vontade de jogar nas demais dificuldades. Um shmup sem música marcante, desafio sem balanço e nenhum modo extra, sem dúvida é um jogo lançado.
Nao é ruim. Mas é frustrante e sem muito conteúdo. Na dúvida, jogue no fácil e o Normal deixe pra depois. Pelo menos o 100% dele é relativamente tranquilo em vista dos demais jogos do gênero na Steam.
Ele beira os 10 reais em promoções, mas com isso você pode comprar Super Galaxy Squadron, Caladrius Blaze, Ikaruga, Touhou Makaka, Super XYX, entre outros jogos que são tão simples como esse (e melhores) ou que possuem mais conteúdo que justifique. A menos que queira ter e deixar na coleção e se desafiar, aí pode ser que seja uma boa dose de entretenimento.
Daria uma nota 6/10. É legal de jogar, mas não tanto como diversos outros do gênero.

Típico juego de naves o mata marciano de toda la vida donde hay que tener unos buenos reflejos y disfrutar avanzando a pesar de que en ocasiones seamos destruidos bastantes veces más de las que nos gustaría.
Decent game, fun to destroy stuff, I like the artwork. I didn't find it frustrating even though you die in one hit and are sent back to a checkpoint (of which there are thankfully many). In terms of creativity on display and having an epic feeling, I'd rate it below Armed Seven and Vulkaiser. The ending doesn't seem climactic enough; I was surprised when the game was over. I think that's partly because the game doesn't have any story development, I don't think? I don't recall any.
Although I should say, it sounds like they were trying to pay homage to Twin Cobra and Raiden Trad etc., and in that respect the game succeeds I think.
Man, I really wanted to like Wolflame. I really did. But I guess some stuff are unachievable.
The game starts strong, VERY STRONG if I may say. Destroying enemy troops, combining the special pickups into weapons of mass destruction... the game just feels so fun. But the more you progress into the game, the more you can see its flaws.
I do not want to waste my or your time explaining the obvious good points of the game as it is not wildly different compared to your usual shmup game, so I'll just skip to the critiques and their explanations.
- Setting the pause keybind to Enter/Return completely breaks this function, as the game registers the button two times and will immediately resume the game. So don't be me and don't do that.
- As many others have mentioned, some of the enemies fire a singular, very fast bullet type that is very hard to dodge if you are in a pinch or if you are not already moving around when they fire it. And as the game gets a habit of spamming these enemies during later levels, a lot of your deaths will mostly come from them. Some might say the ship is too slow for this bullet type, but I'd like to argue that the rest of the game has not been built around it instead, as when you are not encountering the aforementioned bullet type the game plays very well and very fair. However the moment you see the enemies that shoot it, you'll be more likely to scroll to and stay on a safe side of the screen rather than risk getting shot.
- Usefulness of the life system is debatable. Every enemy projectile is a one hit kill and there are no shields either. However, upon taking a hit, you will not be able to continue on the spot and will instead be forced to continue from a past checkpoint. Not unusual for a shmup game, but there are two big issues with this system:
1. You will lose every special weapon you have and unless the game throws one at you, you will be utterly outgunned.
2. You are able to reclaim your lost weapons after killing some enemies, but if you die again before getting them, they are gone for good and you will be forced to use the weak default shot.
These issues can effectively leave you in a very vulnerable state. You cannot properly attack to save your life and can die again in one hit anyway.
- Boss fights are very lackluster. Sometimes the bosses don't actually look threatening design-wise (some of them look like normal enemies that can appear in middle of a level), and sometimes the battles are really not that exciting. It doesn't help that the game does not spice things up properly using sights and sound. You do hear a low volume alert sound, but cannot expect anything like flashing WARNING logos, high energy boss music or similar. Bosses are by far the easiest and the most boring part of the game.
- The bomb is ineffective in protecting you from some enemy attacks. For example, there's a carrier missile in the final level that releases homing swarm missiles after getting destroyed. If the carrier missile is close to you and you use a bomb, you will still die. I assume this is because the swarm missiles have a very brief invincibility period so their appearance animation can be finished.
So overall, I personally do not recommend playing this game. It's not Satazius levels of being disappointing, but does leave you in a conflicted state as you really want to like the game, but various design choices of the game makes you unable to.
Wolfflame is a vertical scrolling shooter that reminds me of Truxton. In Wolflame, you start with the basic guns and limited area damaging, enemy bullet soaking bombs. During the level you gain upgrades that place a satellite on your left and/or right side with one of three shots. Either a green powerful beam, blue lock-on front beam(s) and homing missiles. With each power up cycling through each weapon type as the bounce around the field of play over time. And (at least for the easier settings so for) in the event your ship is destroyed, after a bit you'll get a chance to recover all your power ups with a red cross.
The enemies are plentiful, but they tend not to shoot often on the easier settings. The few bullets that are shot are usually at your ship's location and travel quickly there. Not to say there aren't set bullet pattern attacks too. Just that those attacks are usually reserved for the larger enemies and boss battles. Wolframe seems to be more about keeping your ship on the move and dispatching enemies as quick as possible. And fully upgraded satellites give you plenty of firepower to make that happen.
The easy setting is pretty easy. I'm a casual shmup fan, and I made it to level 5 (of 9 or 10) on my first playthrough not using bombs at all. Again, the game being less about dodging and more about not stilling still. And as more of casual shmup fan, I really like a game that I can sit down and play a good 20 minutes on 1CC without a ton of practice. That might not beat the game, but it also feels like a good amount of progress on a single credit.
뭔 최종보스보다 옆에 딱붙어 지나다니는 잡탱크랑 날파리들이 훨씬 더 두렵습니다. 게다가 맞으면 이어가지 않고 뒤로 돌아가는 타입의 비행기게임. 암살탄이 역겹고 한대맞으면 암걸리는 성질급한 분들에겐 절대비추천.
라이덴 팬게임. 이 서클이 늘 그렇듯 퀄리티는 기대하지 마시고, 각스테이지 각구간마다 (스코어링 같은 게 아니라 정말 내가 살아남기 위하여) 놈들을 가장 잘 쳐부술수 있는 무장을 잘 확보해야 합니다. 매시간매초 암살탄 방어운전을 잘 해야하고, (죽지만 않는다면)썩어넘치는게 폭탄이니까 각재지말고 아끼지말고 팍팍 써야합니다.
If you want to use tate mode and are using Linux, I cannot recommend this. When I try to change windowed mode or resolution it resets all display settings. It appears to be Proton related as Windows users don't appear to be reporting this issue.
However I am not alone in tate mode issues even then. You can only turn the game's display rotation 90°, but not 270°, so if your monitor is turned that way then you will witness this misfortune.
There are other bugs being reported that are upsetting users so I feel pretty comfortable saying this game needs some bug updates badly that we aren't getting and it left me disappointed in being unable to use my vertical monitor I have for primarily shmups.
Tres bon shootemup de style classique comme Flying Shark ,les graphismes sont corrects , l animation et les commandes répondent bien , bref un bon jeu pour les amateurs du style !
Les armements sont peu nombreux mais font le taff efficacement !
Bien entendu le challenge devient ardu aux niveaux élevés de difficulté mais il en vaut la peine !

雷電っぽいですが、総合的な難易度は低めだと思います。難易度のほとんどが自機狙いの高速弾で、いやらしい攻撃は無いと感じました。ストレスが少なく再チャレンジしやすい。フルパワーになるのも早め。自機もボムも貯まりやすい。
あえて気になるところを挙げるなら、ゲーム中の難易度の上がり方・時々スクロールに違和感・ＢＧＭ使い回し、でしょうか。
ただ、このゲームはＨＡＲＤ以上が本番ですよね。

初っ端から高速弾撃ってくる普通の戦車が、ものすごく強いオーソドックスな縦スクロールシューティングです。
ノーマルならば弾幕ゲームではなく、敵の狙いを外すように常に動き回るような立ち回りは確かにアドレナリン全開です。
とは言え、どの武装を選んでも外れはなく、ボムも大量に出るので、
ちゃんと決めボムポイント設定していけばすいすいと進める難易度。
とてもお勧めです
※いろいろウィンドウ配置がめちゃくちゃになるので、ほかの窓を開いたままフル画面プレイはあまりお勧めできません。
fun, simple old school doujin
Jogo de nave vertical com power ups e mecânica mto divertidas. Gráfico e som não se destacam, mas cumprem bem seu papel. O nível de dificuldade é bom (1-hit kill), tem modo pra praticar, saves, conquistas, cartas colecionáveis e o preço é bom. Não tem desvantagem!

总体来说还是不错的STG，风格比较接近于雷电。版面很丰富，敌机也很多样。
自机火力的设计槽点非常大，基本只有红枪比较好用，蓝枪和绿枪火力非常不稳定。尤其是绿枪，明明是输出最高的激光，却时隐时现且没有正前方判定，导致打一些比较小的大型机还要用侧面去瞄，比较影响游戏体验。
总体来说还算可以玩一玩，但目前没有深究的兴趣。
Its a fun classic style shmup, but the purple death bullets are too damn fast, which leads me to quit, and then start the game again in 5 minutes because its so addicting... Worth the cheap price, and if you have a monitor you can flip vertical, tate mode is great in this one imo.

Wolflame is a 2D vertical shooter/shmup going for a classic style of gameplay that won't confuse you. It's fairly simply, you have a regular weapon and a special attack (bomb) that is very useful for defense countermeasures when enemy fire gets hectic.
There are nice explosion effects after you kill enemies that consequently can confuse/camouflage enemy fire which is a bit frustrating. Stage 10 has a spawning mine ship enemy group that attacks out of nowhere and will result in frustrating retries and loss of of score.
Overall, this is a decent game if you are into classic vertical shooters and can get it for a sale price.
Good, minimalistic SHMUP in traditions of Mirage Thunder or Dawn Raider with exception that you immediately die from single bullet. But thanks to save/load ability you can still (probably) win the game. In contrary to many bullet hell games, projectiles move quite fast. Nevertheless, the gameplay is quite satisfying. Recommended, especially when the game is on sale.
Um shmup que intencionalmente remete ao estilo (jogabilidade e gráficos) dos anos 90 com perfeição. Devo dizer que há muito não me divertia com um jogo assim. Pra começar, não é um Bullet Hell, mas a dificuldade no modo normal é progressiva e muito desafiadora nos estágios finais, alguns inimigos disparam tiros únicos e tão rápidos que dão a impressão de serem snipers, o que te obriga a ficar em constante movimento pela tela, um milésimo de segundo parado e você fatalmente será alvejado. O sistema de armas é interessante, me lembrou um pouco Radiant Silver Gun, fora a bomba, são três armas diferentes (cada lado da nave pode ser armado com uma das três variações) em 5 níveis de intensidade. Recomendo o laser azul que trava automaticamente nos inimigos mais próximos. Se por um lado Wolflame não tem nada inovador, por outro é um Shmup muito competente e honesto na proposta de oferecer uma experiência "anos 90", ainda mais considerando o preço reduzido, principalmente durante as promoções Steam.

После этого — начинаешь уровень заново, даже если ты был в самом конце.
При этом с голой стандартной пушкой!
Хочешь вновь получить нажитое непосильным трудом? Молись, чтобы на экран вылетел бонус-возвращайка. А если нет — стреляй пукалкой на последнем уровне стадии, самом потном, и опять молись, но теперь не один раз, а много: на каждый новый улучшающий стрельбу бонус.
В отличие от Raiden, где безвыходных ситуаций нет даже в самых лютых замесах, здесь ты можешь заметить, что попал в кольцо огня, и понять, что у тебя есть ещё секунда-полторы на то, чтобы из него выйти... но нельзя! Смысл тогда иметь время на анализ ситуации?
ИТОГ: какое-то бессмысленное времяпрепровождение. Подал на возврат, но не из-за непроходимости (её вполне реально осилить), а из-за её искусственного растягивания. Raiden лучше во всём. Также советую Demonstar.

Un shoot them up des familles qui vous rappellera graphiquement Raiden I et d'autres jeux de l'époque 1988-1994.
L'aspect visuel rend très claire l'action, ce qui ne semble pas une évidence pour tous les jeux auxquels j'ai joué, notamment les jeux qui mettent des tirs de couleur du vaisseau ou des bonus qui se confondent avec les tirs ennemis.
Ici, point de problème, même s'il faut s'adapter aux différents bonus donnant droit à des lasers et autres, et que le jeu propose déjà un gros défi en mode normal, suffisamment pour devoir mémoriser lesdits bonus de tirs.
Même si graphiquement, il semble donc hors compétition et ne peut rivaliser avec de grosses productions (mais y en a-t-il encore aujourd'hui?) il remplit parfaitement sa fonction et, pour le vieillard que je suis, me permet de rester dans mes jeunes années (enfin dans mes jeunes années, c'est relatif, c'était plutôt Scramble, Space Invaders, Buck Rogers ou Galaga x) ).
Les autres points:
On peut configurer les touches et la manette sans aucun problème, ce qui n'est vraiment, alors vraiment pas le cas de beaucoup de jeux, y compris ceux n'étant pas des shoot them up. Si un petit développeur et éditeur y arrive, pourquoi chez certains autres cela demeure compliqué?
Par contre, l'enregistrement du replay ne semble pas fonctionner, ainsi que les captures d'écran dans le jeu (faites une capture à partir de la touche que vous avez assignée sur Steam). Est-ce le fait que je joue en plein écran? Mystère.
Oh man I really do love this title, it is inspired by the classic Raiden series. it is very easy to get into, in fact one of the easier shooters availble on Steam. Very good mechanical designs, well thought out stages and big bosses make this a must have for retro shooter fans. Controls are top notch and multiple difficulties keep you comming back, highly recommened

これまでの縦スクロールシューティングは、地上の敵はボーナスを得るための存在でした。
しかし、このゲームでは「戦車の砲手は凄腕スナイパー」なのです。
オマケに弾速も速い。知らない間にやられた、なんてことも日常茶飯事。
とにかく、真っ先に地上の敵の殲滅をオススメします。
ノーマル難易度でこの状況です。
特に４面以降は空中の敵もバンバン強くなり始めます。
シューティング中級者以上に向いてる気がしますが、動体視力訓練ゲームとしても良いかと。

Wolflame is an outstanding game and easily the best Raiden inspired shooter I've played! What it lacks in graphical sophistication in comparison with some of the Arcade ports from Raiden Legacy, it more than makes up for in beautifully balanced gameplay difficulty. Interesting weapon systems and adversaries elevate it above the standard Raiden clone status.

Assez fan des jeux signé Astro Port (Satazius et Zangeki Warp notamment, deux shmups horizontaux créatif dans leur game et level design qui apportent au genre), j'ai retrouvé ici le moteur graphique propre à leur titre. C'est donc bien fait, dans un style neo retro assez moderne. Ce shmup vertical se veut une réécriture des shmups verticaux de Seibukahaitsu (Raiden et Viper Phase 1) et des premier Toaplan type Fire Shark, en plus accessible ou l'accent est mis sur le fun et les explosions ! Par défaut en normal, le jeu est accessible, plutôt accrocheur mais les joueurs voulant du challenge devront directement passer en Hard ou Insane ou il devient nettement plus intéressant.
Certains boss sont franchement pas mal même si globalement assez classique. En tout cas si on cherche un shmup ♥♥♥ oldschool dans l'âme et qui blast à mort, celui la est tout conseillé ! Le moteur graphique ne ralentit jamais qui plus est malgré les passages très fournis en explosions et tirs à l'écran. Un jeu qui reste fun.

This game reminds me a lot of the original Raiden and Raiden II, so if youre into those games youll probably like this one too- I did.
Its a slower paced, old-school type shoot-em-up. Easy difficulty felt just a tad too easy, and i got to Stage 7 (of 10) on Normal mode. Theres also hard and insane but im not going to even try those.
I like how you can get different weapons on each side of your ship (there are 3 weapons, which can be leveled up to level 5 each).
Achievements are pretty fun to get too.
Graphics are nice 2D sprites, music is ok but nothing memorable. Controls work with the d-pad.

Okay gameplay, but the max resolution is pretty low, and it locks you into a very narrow window. No shields/armor, so one hit kills you. Joystick integration needs work.

I really tried to like this game. I have even reinstalled it from time to time, but there's really more to hate than love here.
The graphics are incredibly generic; the stages, though plenty, are very repetitive (in both design and visuals). The music is barely noticeable.
Yes, the weapons are somewhat satisfactory to use, but then you have the worst offense one will find in this game: the sniping units.
These are probably the only thing that can kill an experienced shmup player. And they do it in the most unfair way possible, shooting a single and blindingly fast bullet aimed directly at your ship (which is sooooo slow), so you HAVE to keep constantly moving mindlessly from side to side if you don't want to lose a life, because it is simply IMPOSSIBLE to dodge these bullets on reaction (also, have I mentioned that the screen blacks out and the game sends you back in the stage when you die?).
These sniping units are also the most common enemy in the game, and you'll have lots of them on the screen at once. Add those things up and you'll have a game that is more annoying than challenging or fun to play.

ゲームはシンプルなショットとボム。
パワーアップは3種で左右のポッドが付き、それぞれ別のものも付けられレベルアップする。
赤は扇型ショット＋ホーミング。(弱め)
緑は強力なレーザー。(こちらも扇型に増えるのと途切れる)
青は当てるとロックするレーザー。(扇型だがロックさせれば外れず、間も攻撃判定有)
自機のショットは変わらないため、どうしても真正面の攻撃が薄い感じは否めないのが雷電と違うところか。
また、パワーアップが左右のポッドで別な為、アイテムローテーションが6種になるので、タイミングによっては取りにくい事も。
弾幕じゃないオールドスクールなゲームを望んでいるなら買いだ。
Enemies with bullet patterns are just there for show. You will only ever die against tiny enemies that shoot one bullet that crosses the screen in about 1/8th of a second. A tiresome, badly designed game.
An overall solid SHMUP with minor flaws. This game is a mismash of aestethics from the likes of Raiden and Lightning Fighters/Trigon blended with Toaplan weapons and checkpoints topped off as an Astro Port creation. Suffers from checkpoint syndrome in that if you die after getting powered up enough, then die again before you can get the "recover" item (returns you to your previous kit before death), then you lose all of your power ups and trimmed down to a pea shooter. The game is a bit long and the difficulty is a little whack as the main thing that kills you are small tanks coming from offscreen and sniping you with super fast bullets instead of the big bosses and enemies killing you...just like in the Raiden games.
In other words if you are already familiar with the Toaplan and Raiden territories then this game will be right at home with you.

I rate the game WOLFLAME 4/5. Good.
This is a fun little vertically scrolling schmup arcade style action game in the style of the early Raiden games. WOLFLAME differs from the early Raiden games though by giving you an infinite number of 'continues' which has the effect of making the game much easier and far less frustrating.
+Adequate, old-style late 1980's/early 1990's arcade game graphics with an extremely nice, nostalgic quality to them which is heavily reminiscent of the first few Raiden games (and other, similar styled arcade games from the early 1990s).
+Good, simple and responsive controls.
+Simple, easy-to-use menus.
+Good, though still fairly standard-feeling weapon upgrades.
+As you progress, the game's areas scale up in difficulty slowly but surely even on the easiest difficulty. This game features several difficulty levels for good replay value.
+Great game for the fairly low price of 6 dollars (and that's not even when this game is on a special sale).
+/-Enemies and levels are fairly standard for this type of game.
+/-Mediocre though not annoying sound effects and music. Mostly just generic sounding for this type of game.
-This game never gives you a great sense of speed. Indeed, the levels/areas scroll past fairly slowly.
-Certain bosses seemed underwhelming and a little repetitive (there are at least 2 levels which use some sort of tank or tanks as the main boss but that's still ok though because big tanks are cool, especially in this kind of game).
-There is only a single type of fighter craft which you can control.
-Perhaps the absolute worst thing that can be said concerning this game is that it may very well be a severe rip-off of the early Raiden games. That said, WOLFLAME is fairly well-done nonetheless and provides a great, nostalgic, classic arcade feel. If you collect vertically scrolling Schmup games (like I do), you should definitely buy this one too, at least when it goes on a special sale.
Satisfying little known shmup with nice powerups and decent graphics. It has some fantastic stages and a couple fun bosses. Not the best thing out there but it will absolutely satisfy the shmup itch if you love Raiden or the like. Easy buy for cheap. Supports various resolutions and has a few options to tinker with.

WOLFLAME玩起来感觉很像达人王，但是也有很大的区别，可以看出作者在提升游戏难度上的煞费苦心。
说实话，我玩到现在也没有见过1面刚开始就有小坦克用无比快速的小子弹把我狙死的情况（笑）
别的杂鱼也是，每一个狙击都是精确无疑，饱含恨意的。虽然不是弹幕STG但是却有弹幕STG的酣畅淋漓之感，WOLFLAME做到了。
成就系统有bug，20个奖章那个成就打最后一关吃全奖章可以解（我没吃全，重来的过程中解了）
First off: there's raiden 4 (and others) on steam, which is a throw back to raiden 2... making this game kinda obsolete

-难度设计吃屎，虽然敌人的排布很用心，可是这鬼畜的子弹速度简直令人瞠目结舌，非要比较一下的话，《雷电》系列这种STG就是以敌人子弹速度闻名的，可是人家设计很合理呀，你这个玩意普通难度有《雷电》最高难度那么可怕，你真当全世界玩STG游戏的都是触手么？触手也没这么触的。除此之外，不少敌人攻击前会给一条红线代表它即将发射子弹，有些还好，还有一些那个锁定红线就出来都不知道可有0.1秒直接就打了，那这个锁定红线做出来意义何在？告诉我我要死了？

I'm a complete sucker for Astro Port's stuff, but I'm particularly happy with Wolflame. I loved Satazius, their horizontally-scrolling homage to shoot-em-ups like Gradius, and Wolflame is the same level of homage to vertically-scrolling titles like Raiden.
Your ship can acquire two satellites, each of which shoots one of three different weapons and can be upgraded five times. When a power-up appears, it changes color as it moves around the screen, allowing you to switch each satellite's weapon type on the fly by grabbing it when it is the desired color. Having a fully upgraded set of satellites makes you feel powerful, but not invulnerable, especially at higher difficulty levels. My favorite aspect of the upgrade system is being able to recover your previous abilities after you die, if you are lucky enough to spawn the proper power-up icon and collect it with your new ship.
The graphics nail the intended retro aesthetic, and cover the usual variety of environments (land, sea, outer space). The game ran smoothly at 60 FPS on everything I tried, including a laptop with Intel 5000 integrated graphics. There are basic configuration options for resolution, controls, and difficulty. If you're looking for something to scratch a retro arcade shooter itch, give this a try!
This is rather a neutral review. I like the old school graphics and sound, but the game mechanics is not my cup of tea.
Most of the enemy bullets are too fast to dodge, you have to keep moving around or get killed, and if you get caught when changing direction, you're dead. You lose everything on death, which is a little unfair in later levels. But well, the developer is trying to make a Raiden clone so that's fine if you like the origin.
The game has 10 levels, considering it's a shoot em up, that's a lot. And there is a Save/Load function, you can save the game anywhere and load to start from that level. This is handy when you find yourself hard to concentrate after a few levels, or when you made some really silly mistakes.
And this game has 4 difficulties, Easy is really easy(I managed to 1cc in my first try, with a little bit luck), you can also get almost all achievements by just playing easy(Only 1 exception, you have to complete normal, with infinite continues). That's very friendly to beginners, which is something really lacking in the shoot em up genre.

绿色是大激光，伤害高，但是由于是偏向外倾斜的，而且是间歇式攻击，导致很难集火输出 ，只能用来清清小怪啥的，
红色是散弹，虽然伤害不高，但是范围大并且有跟踪弹支援清小怪很不错，
蓝色的是跟踪激光，最多有六束，可分散攻击，也可集火，相对来说最好用，推荐用

同人ゲーム独特のゲームバランスの大味さが感じられます。
特別な事をしなくてもボスが瞬殺できてしまったり、
道中の戦略性に欠ける部分があったりと
「シューティング初心者向けとしてのバランス」の方向で
大味さがやや感じられます。
とくに筋金入りのシューティングファンには
序盤の数ステージは緊張感に欠け
ヌルゲーに感じてややダレるかもしれません。
序盤の数ステージは明確な特徴の無い地形に
あまり変わり映えのしない舗装路・建造物の配置・自然の緑と土のデザインで
印象の薄いステージが続いてしまうせいで序盤の展開がややインパクト不足です。
中盤～後半に行けばステージの変化はありますが、
もう少し序盤のステージごとの明確な特徴や、
何か印象的なオブジェがあると良かったですね。
難易度選択による難しさの要素の違いは
「敵ザコ戦車の弾が直線的に嫌らしく速い狙い撃ち」などの
シンプルな事によるものが目立ち、
難易度調整の要素としては少々工夫に欠けるもので
「楽しい緊張感」ではない印象を受けます。
音楽はメロディアスで特徴的なものではなく、
良く言えばライデンファイターズ系のBGMを目指しているようなものですが
悪く言えば洋ゲーなどでありがちな
ハイテンポでビート重視な感じの薄味の音楽です。
「料理としてはきちんとしているが、全体的に塩分を控えたゲーム」
といった感じに例えればいいのでしょうか。
いつも醤油ドバドバの濃い味付けのシューティングを食べている人には
精進料理か病院食を食べているように感じるかもしれません。
ゲームとしてはきちんとしていますし、
これといった難しい操作の要素はなく、ショットとボムのみなので
縦シューティングの入門用としては最適です。

Steam can be a bit of a jungle at times, especially in the case of shooters. It seems like every Junior Developer wants to make their first project a shmup whether they understand what makes the genre fun or not.
And then every once in a while we reverie a game that GETS IT. Astro Port's games have always been great, but this one truly takes the cake. Simply superb! If every shmup was built this well the genre would still be in the forefront.
If you know who Toaplan and Seibu Kaihatsu are and the kinds of games they made in the early 90s, then you know what to expect in Wolflame. Shots come from actual gun barrels, not some nebulous location in the center of enemies. In classic shooter fashion, bullets are lightning fast with no micro hit boxes. Enemies emerge from bunkers and forests in organized waves. Larger enemies can be picked apart one gun at a time, or quickly dispatched by concentrating fire on the center of mass. This game just makes sense and shows a true love for the classics.
I can't recommend Wolflame enough.
Another excellent shoot 'em up from Astro Port. This one is heavily remiscent of early 90's Toaplan classics such as Fire Shark, Truxton and Twin Cobra - i.e. not a bullet hell shooter. Tight gameplay, good graphics, well recommended!
As [i]Satazius is to Gradius[/i], and [i]Gigantic Army[/i] is to [i]Assault Suit Valken[/i], then [i]Wolflame[/i] is very much in the spirit of Toaplan. The deal with Toaplan shootemups is that they excel at the fundamentals. When you play one of these classic games, you're not going to be dazzled by fountains of pretty bullets and thousands of shiny gold medals. Every moment of these games is a life or death struggle. The one tank that you miss just might be the one that takes you down. ASTRO PORT delivers yet another thriller that is sure to please any shmup fan.
Like most other shmups, [i]Wolflame[/i] has no story to speak of. The goal is to destroy everything, collect a few medals, and try not to get shot down too often. The scoring system is pretty basic. All of the medals you collect in a stage are cashed in at the end for a lot of points, provided you don't die and lose them. Actually, you might as well try not to die at all, because spare lives are worth a ton as well. Unlike most shooters, there's no huge penalty for using bullet-clearing bombs. Even if you manage to collect a full stock, any extras are worth a measly 100 points each.
There are two kinds of bullets in this game, the kind that distract you, and the kind that kill you. The killer bullets are easy to spot. They're purple, thin, and fast. Most of the enemies that fire purple bullets are tanks, turrets, and so on. It's actually pretty sensible, since smaller ships don't have the power to maintain control, while firing such a powerful weapon. Typically, the killer bullets are fired when the enemy has you in their sights, so if you're not constantly moving, then you're probably going to die. As soon as a tank appears on-screen, either destroy it or get out of the way, because they're extremely deadly.
That's not to say there aren't any of the typical bullet-spreads we associate with STGs, but they're only a part of the threat. These slow yet plentiful bullets are there to catch your eye, force you into bad situations, and basically "herd" you into just the right spot. What happens next? If you guessed that a tank would appear practically out of nowhere and snipe you, then congrats! Your prize is a trip back to the last checkpoint.
Yes, Wolflame is a checkpoint-based shooter. That means you don't instantly respawn when you die. Thankfully, there's usually a nearby power-up that restores all of your lost weapons. The checkpoints are also a lot more reasonable than some of the earliest shmups. Still, getting kicked backwards upon death can be very punishing. Having to re-do bosses as well as brutal segments can chew through your spare lives pretty quickly.
One more thing: Like a number of vertical shooters, the screen shifts slightly to the left or right depending on your position. This can be useful, because enemies don't fire when they're off-screen. However, you also want to make a mental note of any enemies that are off-screen, just so you don't move over and suddenly get point-blank blasted by a killer bullet.
It's interesting that [i]Twin Cobra[/i] is mentioned in the store-description for this game. [i]Twin Cobra[/i] is the game that got me to fear tanks again. After several years of danmaku bullet-hells, where avoiding billions of bullets almost becomes effortless, I was re-introduced to the dreaded tank. Tanks in [i]Twin Cobra[/i] only fire one bullet, but one bullet is enough in a shmup. [i]Wolflame[/i] understands that same philosophy, and its legions of meticulously placed tanks and turrets are sure to confound and enrage a new generation of gamers.

急にストライカーズ1945みたいな昔風のSTGをやりたくなって探してたらWOLFLAMEといゲームを見つけました。
遊んでみて、結果は当たりでした。
ジャッジメントシルバーソードや雷電が好きなら間違いなく買い。
８０年後半から９０年代アーケード好きなファンには自信もっておすすめできる。
１０ステージもあるのに値段的にも安いです。（途中セーブ可能）
初心者から上級者用まで難易度４つ。イージーとノーマルを遊んでみましたが、ラスボスが変わってました。
敵は低速弾幕と高速光線、追尾ミサイル、そして体当たりで襲ってきます。
死んだら巻き戻しスタートになるので、ゲーセン仕様といういより家庭向きといえます。
SFCパッドも使えて、キーバインドも可能でした。
ただ、解像度が低いのでグラフィックは荒い感じです。
