音乐几乎无敌了，我可以上班一直听；
音效也不错，特别是序章那个岛上各种路面的声音都很有特色，非常解压；
AI有些不明所以，几乎只有开场能跟AI有互动，且互动基本都是极具挫败感的，一旦撞上AI，AI就会不遗余力地把你挤出赛道，所以成为逃马几乎是唯一解，也许有高人可以接受吸尾流的套路吧，我不行；
物理效果也很神秘，路上创了会动的东西千万不要动，否则让你飞起来；创了不会动的也千万不要碰，否则当场就似了回到几秒前；草丛之类的虽然有对应的零件，但特殊效果的收益都不如好好走线少切西瓜；
最难受的应该是地图了，虽然传送点的密度相对合适，但是能不能给个选项在地图上显示收集品位置？哪怕是让我把收集过的物品手动标注出来也行啊，这满地东西我上哪去找缺的那几个随机位置的零件？最要命的是缺的这几样还跟成就有关系，越看越焦虑。
总之是开场很惊艳，终盘很痛苦，推荐浅玩，不要深入研究。

A good game that could've been better. Very fun and cozy to just roam around, but the bike upgrading part could've been more central to the game. Allow parts to have more whacky side effects, so most parts don't feel like slight variations and to allow you to build bikes with special purposes and part synergies. Allow players to bookmark combinations of parts.

Still, time well spent, but it could've been more 'fun'.

Le jeu a quelque chose, une identité, une proposition qui sort du lot. Il a réussi à me faire aimer des sensations que je n’apprécie pas à la base, et rien que pour ça, c’est déjà une réussite.

Mais il lui manque du polish. Sur ses mécaniques, sur ses options, sur sa gestion de l’aléatoire. Avec un peu plus de soin sur ces aspects, il aurait clairement pu s’imposer comme l’une des meilleures surprises de 2025. Parce que des jeux de course de vélo arcade avec un tel travail sur le ressenti manette, ça ne court pas les rues.

Malgré ses défauts, je sais déjà qu’il va rester en tête et en main. Ce n’est pas le petit jeu indé qu’on oublie deux semaines après. Il lui manquait quelques ajustements, mais ce qu’il fait bien, il le fait vraiment bien et ça mérite d’être souligné.

Min cykel blev stulen för ett par veckor sedan, så det här känns precis rätt för mig just nu.
Jag lyckades inte riktigt få till det med tangentbordskontrollerna, det kändes inte helt naturligt, men med en handkontroll känns det riktigt bra! Så jag rekommenderar varmt att man använder en kontroll. Gillar musiken, älskar cyklistslangvitsarna (nöjd att jag redan viste vad "bonked" betyder) och det känns riktigt härligt att bara susa runt i miljön utan att ens köra några race. Men loppen är kul också!
Kul, snyggt och charmigt.

I've never really enjoyed racing games that much and this game offered many of the frustrations that hurt my ability to enjoy it. Things like spending 80% of the race in first place only to be knocked back to sixth because I got bumped into an obstacle. Or the way other cyclists seem to have hooks on their wheels that can pull you around.

But I've always loved cycling. I ride my bike to work almost every day; eight miles each way. I find it a refreshing enjoyable form of exercise, far superior to sitting in traffic or crowding onto a subway car with groups of grumpy commuters. This was what inspired me to buy the game in the first place and, along with the lovely European-inspired scenery and beautiful soundtrack, what kept me playing through the frustrations. I wouldn't say that I "got gud" but I did manage to start winning and eventually beat the whole game. I would say I fell in love with it, its cheesy but heartwarming story, and its little idiosyncrasies, like cars honking if you got too close to them or the strange outfits and styles of the racing teams you compete against. And, while it can be frustrating to be knocked out of a race, it's a hell of a lot of fun to speed down a mountain and boost your bike to get serious airtime off of large jumps. Despite it being very different in a lot of ways, its indie soundtrack, art style, protagonist, and unrealistic simulation of a real sport reminded me of Rollerdrome.

It worked fine on my Steam Deck except for a few moments when the audio stuttered.

Definitely a great game, one that made me very happy and I would definitely replay it in the future. I'm actually genuinely sad that there's no new game+ for this one.

Pretty cool gamey game: bike around, explore, jump, race other bikers, cheese some courses etc.

I think that it is worth playing!
Did not finish it yet at the time of this review, I am around halfway there I think.

This was incredible fun.
I'm not generally great at racing games even though I enjoy them. This has a great difficulty curve so you can build up to being good at all the races.

I really enjoyed the customisation of the bike, it meant I could adjust the speed/steering etc to each race and my own preference to win everything

Being able to explore the world at will was great fun and I had a great time finding all the secret courses riding along the walls and fences of the world.

This is so delightful and chill.

My only disappointment with this game is that despite my bicycle being a spirit in charge of ushering ghosts into the next world, there have been zero missions so far involving any psychopompery. The gameplay's entirely about meeting cyclists straight out of Muppet general casting and racing them. Which is a lot of fun to do but I'd love to break things up a bit by having to pick up a lost ghost and escort it to a collection point with a mild time limit and no bumps allowed, or something like that.

It's absolutely delightful to tinker with your bike and wander around. I just feel like the story could be a bit better integrated with the gameplay here and there. It's not a ruinous case of ludonarrative dissonance but it's a missed opportunity for some ludonarrartive harmony. Maybe there'll be DLC that'll add ghost-herding. I'd buy that.

I knew from the demo that I wanted to play Wheel World, and honestly it did not disappoint. The soundtrack is excellent, the overall approach to racing is pretty relaxed (think arcade/kart racer rather than technical) and the key is that it conveys - for me at least - the joy of going out for a bike ride.

I know that before the post launch patches some people had some performance issues, but I've been fortunate to not hit any.

I do kinda wish that the game had either modding support or a post-endgame mode, but neither of those are a significant issue - and there's plenty of enjoyment to be had from just loading up my save again and going for a free-roam cycle.

I fully recommend this game with the caveat that I did not and will not be finishing it

I loved the first 2/3 of the game; satisfying runs, comfortable progression, gorgeous explorable world

Then without specific plot spoilers, the last third of the game ruins most of what made the first 2/3 great. Gorgeous world turns purposely muddy and ugly. The already tough collision physics go from occasional inconvenience to race breaking frustration. The already not great performance on the Steam Deck turns into occasionally unplayable

So it's absolutely worth dipping your toes into, but man that last section of the game is a real bummer

(Props to Noclip for pointing me to try this game out!)

I'll recommend it, though I am a BIT mixed on the game.

I do think the racing and upgrading is fun, the issue is kinda.... that's all there is and all you do. AND you don't really need the tickets, the best parts are rewards you get by completing the races or certain rep levels (which you also only get by completing the races).

I do wish there were more options over all to progress, but it's charming and chill - so if you can get over the "numbers must go up" hump a little bit, it's a fun chill couple hours.

NIce. Rather short arcade-like bike racing simulator. I wish there was more to the story, as it feels kinda shallow, but I do understand that this game is about bike racing, not about the lore of the world.
Also, would be nice to have all the side activities mapped as icons on the map. This game feels kinda relaxing, but having to switch back and forth to the online map of collectibles feels counter relaxing.

Comme ça faisait longtemps que je voulais jouer à un jeu de course, étant assez fan de ce genre dans ma prime jeunesse, j'ai tout de suite penser que ce Wheel World me permettrait d'assouvir cette envie. En plus se déplacer à vélo plutôt qu'en auto c'est dans l'air du temps pour les urbains comme moi.
On a donc à faire à un Open World assez mignon et cosy en début de partie. Explorer la première île est ma foi assez plaisant et la quasi absence de challenge pour gagner les courses renforce le sentiment d'un jeu chill plus qu'autre chose. La personnalisation du vélo semble donc assez triviale malgré la tonne de pièces à récupérer dont certaines sont parfois assez cocasses. L'IA paraît la plupart du temps inoffensive voire ridicule dans le pire des cas mais certaines courses de la deuxième île peuvent donner un peu de fil à retordre (1 ou 2 quoi) et c'est vraiment en voulant finir les 4 objectifs de toutes les courses qu'on se frotte à un peu de défis.
Puis vient la deuxième île... et malheureusement, bien que les circuits soient plutôt sympa, l'ambiance de "fin du monde" un peu cliché, le deuxième objectif global sans enjeu et le manque cruel de variété font l'effet d'une douche froide. Si l'on ajoute à ça le nombre indécent d'objectif secondaire à compléter pour avoir tous les succès, cette seconde partie du jeu peut en décourager voire dégoûter plus d'un.

Just completed the story and won first in every race - What an excellent game! Super Fun, and engaging world and characters, truly feels alive! The absolutely excellent soundtrack really takes the game up a level as well - sometimes the game pauses the soundtrack to allow you to hear ambient noise, which is nice, but I just kinda get itchy for that great music to come back!

A welcoming and visually appealing open-world racing game that nevertheless comes with a host of reservations. A classic "7 out of 10" game, if you will.

The bike handling is quite arcadey and has its own quirks which aren't too difficult to adjust to, making it fairly fun to zip around the map. But as is true to life, you are quite vulnerable to cars and obstacles and can't just smash your way through them. The races are generally easy and pleasant, but the "difficulty" comes not by making the opponents faster, but by throwing more and more junk into the race courses as the game goes on, and the collision system can't make up its mind whether you should shrug off a little cardboard box in the road or send you careening 90 degrees and ruining your record time attempt.

While there's a lot to find and collect in the open world, the QOL tools to track them are unhelpful, and while traveling on paths is a breeze, attempting to explore off-road is painful and discouraging. There's also a ton of bike parts to find, but a lot of them have only tiny differences, and there's no saveable builds or presets, meaning that changing your setup for a race with tighter corners vs. longer straights will involve a lot of tedious tinkering and sifting through menus.

The aesthetics are very pleasing and enjoyable, too, probably the best part of the game, but at the cost of optimization, as it runs much worse than you might expect. It's playable on Steam Deck but appears to be largely CPU bound so changing graphics settings will only go so far, and I could never get more than 60-90 minutes in a session before the battery was gone.

Ultimately, I give it a hesitant recommendation, because the good parts are quite unique and I did get plenty of enjoyment out of it, but chances are if you're a completionist determined to wring every last drop of juice out of this game, it's going to end up sour at some point.

謎の精霊と共に、自転車文化とサイクリングという行為が深く根ざした世界を冒険するオープンワールド・レーシング・アドベンチャー。
操作性はいたって普通のカジュアルなレースゲームで、自転車ゆえの難しさといったものはかなり少ない。
ストーリーは壮大でありながらふわっとしておりそこまで惹きつけられなかったものの、走れる箇所の多さやコレクタブル要素の多様さを落とし込んでいるワールド、パーツの豊富さから生み出される幅の広いバイクカスタマイズは魅力がある。
ただ、ゲーム後半からは前述の走る楽しさは大幅に削がれてしまっており、エンディングまで巻き返すことはなかった。

全体としてみると楽しいポイントは多く用意されているのだが、クリア時の満足感はイマイチだったため、「オススメしません」とする。
とはいえ、ゲーム自体はかなりお手頃価格であり、お釣りが出るほど満足できる人も存在するとは思う。そのため「買うべきでない作品」[b]ではない[/b]という点は強調しておきたい。

操作性はシンプル。
自転車を題材としつつも、操作感は普通の4輪車によるレースゲームと近い部分が多く、結構遊びやすい。
それでいて「自転車」を題材としている点を犠牲にはしておらず、手軽にサイクリングの楽しさを感じられて良かった。

最序盤から前半の間で冒険を行うエリアは自然豊かで、様々な顔を見せてくれる。
色鮮やかでありながらどこか落ち着いた色調の風景を、颯爽と愛車（と相棒）で駆け抜ける体験は他のゲームではなかなか得られないものだった。

レースはゲート型のチェックポイントで構成されたコースで行われる。
ショートカットだけでなく、ブースト確保やコース上のコレクタブルアイテムのためのルート取りを考えながら、攻略を進める面白さがある。

とにかくパーツの種類が多く、自転車1台の構成要素数も多い。
パーツ一つにも性能の差や特殊効果の有無があり、こうした要素を考慮して自分のプレイスタイルや対戦相手の特徴に沿ったカスタマイズを導き出す楽しさは本作の魅力の一つ。
トンチキなテーマのパーツも数多く、すべて揃えるとヘンテコな自転車が出来上がるのも面白いポイントだと思う。

[b]後半の失速[/b]

後半以降の展開やフィールドがイマイチ。
広げた風呂敷のスケール感に対して、収め方が大雑把でふんわりとしている印象で、ストーリーの収め方がイマイチだった。
後半のフィールドも前半での豊かな風景と比較してかなり味気なく、引っかかりやすくクラッシュしてしまうようなオブジェクト配置、攻略の幅が狭く爽快感の薄いレイアウトが目立つようにもなり、楽しさや爽快感が失われていた。
このように後半でかなりゲーム自体の失速感を覚えてしまう点が、何にも代えがたい大きな減点ポイントであり、一度欠けてしまった面白さを最後に至るまで取り返せていない印象であった。

Really fun racing game. Really good indie music. Really pretty art style. Great vibes overall. Definitely recommend. Loved the multi-speed bikes personally. They make the game feel more grown.

My beef: Game is so easy that is has to cheat to be challenging. Cars and other bikers constantly swerve straight into you. Your bike will just randomly run you into things. Camera will make races harder by bugging out when you get too close to objects or other racers or when too many things are on screen or when you make a turn less than 90 degrees.

Якщо полюбляєте гонки але стандартний формат вже давно приївся- ця гра те шо треба. Різноманітний відкритий світ, який цікаво досліджувати, мультиплікаційна стилізована графіка, багато деталей для апгрейду велика, навіть сюжет завезли.
На Steam Deck працює добре на середніх налаштуваннях графіки, ніяких проблем не помітив. Із мінусів- відсутність української, но озвучки тут немає, тільки текст і той повний каламбурів із велотематики.

Ну і взагалі велики- це круто :)

I'll probably finish playing through at some point, because I do enjoy racing games, and more specifically Forza Horizon style open-world ones. But I was a bit bummed to find that it doesn't feel anything like a bike. You start with a single speed that lets you accelerate like crazy, sprint up hills, and otherwise fly around. Later when you unlock gears, you get... a little bit higher top speed. Otherwise it's a punishment. Hills should matter. Gears should matter. The races should slow down significantly when they're climbing. You should be able to tuck on downhills and focus on descending. And in my opinion grouping up and drafting should matter more, like a real bike race, but that's much more of a headache to implement, especially with the small sizes of the races, so I'd settle for at least more of a bicycle feel to the pace of the racing.

I would leave a neutral review if i could but i do think this game's pros overwhelm the cons.

What the game gets right:
1 Moebius artsyle is great
2 Music is amazing
3 Riding a bike is very fun and feels distinct (not like you are riding a motorcycle)
4 Different race tracks are all fun in their own right
5 The vibes are great in world 1 and 3, you can almost feel the wind in your face

Where the game falls short:
1 It is way too easy, most of the time you will come first and beat tom's time without really trying
2 The physics are straight up jank, you can clip something tiny and still get sent to the shadow real
3 Enemies' AI is bad, a lot of the time they will randomly turn into you (well and just be too slow)
4 Collecting letters in each race is not fun, it makes you think of how to collect the letters in a way that will still allow you to beat tom's time instead of trying the lowest time possible. And yeah technically you can first collect then try actually racing but considering how easy the races are there is no challenge in them
5 Second world feels uninspired, while in world 1 for some tom's times you had to use shortcuts, here you just race and get it without trying. It looks meh, it's all a green blob and yeah, people ruined it blah blah blah, still not great to look at. The races become even easier, if in first world you had to change your bike to suit the track style, in world 2 i changed absolutely nothing and still won most races first try (the retries came from dying on a random cardboard box)

Overall it's a great "artists game" where visuals are king and the gameplay is okay enough so that the game doesn't feel annoying. I personally enjoyed the game you might too, if you have a spare 10 bucks and wanna feel adventurous i'd recommend it, if you want a challenge the game is not for you

I do love racing games and when I stumbled upon wheel world I was intrigued, a racing game on bicycle with customisation and a fun story? Sign me in and for the most part is really that, a fun and cozy racing game where you control kat and you race others to get reputation (rep in short) in a world where biking is everything and I love it, almost every aspect is done well enough with multiple biomes each with different styles: from the classic rural and country side with lot's of Flatlands and farming lots which brings me back to when I usually drove my bike in scenery similarly to those to more chaotic city landscape where you need to not only pay attention to the other people your competing with in the race but you need to pay attention to cars in the streets and other obstacles, of course every type of biomes and race need different types of bikes and the customisation is here to help, there are a lot of parts from the most serious and technical players to the silly players that want to make the most impractical bike like a hot dog bike for example, you can mix and match a lot of parts and it's always interesting see new components and confronting them to make your bike the best there is for that race specifically.
One other thing I really loved is the graphics, from the really good scenery, to the silly and goofy characters and the overall good style this game has a really charming world to explore.
But unfortunately I think there something that need to be discussed, sure it's a more cozy game than a racing game, but where the challenge? Sure there are some very late races that are somewhat challenging, but man, most of the races are ridiculously easy, even the so called "hard" races where really really easy, sure you have some challenges in each races but they are easy too, too easy, sure I love the coziness of all but some challenge would be nice too.
In the end the game is great, it has some really good world and some nice scenery, races even if easy are still fun and learning what it's you best type of bikes is fun too, a lot of customisation and lots of things to explore, if you like a more cozy racing game with bikes this is for you.

loved riding around in this world so much, after having so much fun on Steam, I bought it digitally for PS5, there is enough in the world to finish the game and tune your bike with found parts to complete the game, then there is the challenge of beating Tom's Time and finding ALL the parts that keeps me going back to it. I think the simple art style allows for smooth frame rate and I didn't notice any frame drops on my 30080 super, it's just smooth sailing

Driving around is fun and the vibes of the world are good. Game is a bit short with the second half being more frustrating than the first with debris and other riders on the road for races which lead to "unfair" crashes and restarts. 100% completion is maybe another 10 hours collect-a-thon with no in-game tools to help you other than the lone riders flags so you will need to look up online the locations of the boxes etc. Overall enjoyable experience with fun gameplay and a more casual tone.

Fun little bike game! Love the concept and will be interested to see what these devs cook up next :)

Really loved the controls, art-style, and music especially.

One thing I will say, I would have been waaay more into achievement hunting, going for 100%, etc if there weren't a few design issues holding things back imo... the lack of an instant rematch option after races, lack of endgame fast travel across zones, and the absence of endgame stat-tracking to see progress on sidegigs, if those features were present I would have spent at least another several hours trying to hit better race times and find collectibles.

I was skeptical about playing this game. I saw a couple reviews and while some enjoyed it, some complained how basic it was. I like the gameplay, just something I can play to feel relaxed without any intensity.

I am a music producer/musician so at times I need to take breaks after intense listening. I load up a game for some fun and I have to say, the game may be simple, but it's fun. I've never played a game with this type of art style before. It's just gorgeous!

For skeptics, if you aren't picky about gaming to relax like you might be for your work, lol It's definitely worth a try.

I can't remember the last time I played a game that was such concentrated joy that didn't have "Mario" or "Zelda" in the title. You can play any way you like, either minimaxing your stats and chasing slightly better times in each event in a way that's not at all unlike Wipeout, or just chillaxing and touring the countryside, taking events as they come and killing as many hours as you want just jamming to the absolutely perfect soundtrack and visuals. Yes, there are a few things to criticize: the physics can get a little wonky, the soundtrack occasionally stutters, it really needs a broader selection of difficult races, etc., but you can't really fault the overall presentation or pick-up-and-play-but-can't-put-it-down gameplay. There's a fast travel system you can unlock but I've never once been tempted to use it because the "regular travel" is just so perfect. I even bought the soundtrack since (a) it's all bangers and (b) I wanted to support the developers, for whom this is clearly a labor of love. Really hoping we get some additional islands and harder events as DLC--- the way Horizon Chase ramped up the difficulty curve in the expansions is great model here.

Great game. Must be the most unique racing game that was made, with bikes and cozey, with a story too. The art style is very cool, especially in the first half of the game. After exploring there I want to start biking more, and go for more hikes in the forest. The second half though I understand is essentiel to the story they want to tell, was a bit too gloomy and contrasted too much with the first half. Gameplay wise it is fun to play, and the second part of the game adds some needing challenge.

Without spoiling anything, the story is your typical Cozzy Game story, about environnement and the impact of technology. Nothing original or outstanding, but it gets the job done, and is a nice setting for the game. Their is lots of humour in the game, and I like the laughts and pokes at the ''pro consummer'' bike culture.

I do reccomend this game for people who want to try racing with a twist, and who enjoy colorful relaxing art :)

An easy recommendation for a pretty unique bicycle open world game.

Wheel World takes place in a fairly big and colorful open world made of zones, that you can choose to tackle in the order you desire (with a couple caveats I won’t spoil). Each district is designed with different terrains, and different type of road and trafic, more or less tortuous; and will require different types of bikes to be as fast or as nimble as possible, depending on the races in races.

But you only have one bicycle. Fortunately, it’s a customizable and magical one! Possessed by an ancient skull spirit (or the skull is the bike) who slept too much on their job of traversing some sort of veil to another world...and well, they need their chosen one bicyclist to get their magical parts back to save the world(s).

The first main motivator for playing the game is facing each district champion who stole or ended up with a magical parts, and who will give them back only if you race them and win. Except they only accept races with notorious racers...you got to work on your rep!

So the crux of the game is racing as much group of bicyclists as possible, winning and also validating as much secondary objectives in those races to gain reputation points! Each threashold gives access to a certain champ.

The handling in the game is pretty solid, being arcady and lenient enough that you can make mistake and save them, while also requiring some finess and actual use of braking and trajectory. It’s not perfect, especially collisions with other cyclists that can nightmarishly slow you down. But it’s overall fun, even in harder races by the end, where more precision is required. And the game will force you to try out and search for different parts.

The only gripe I have with the game is the gear system. Your bike can have one or several gears systems. When you choose a gearing shifter with several gears, it works manually, as in you have to shift gear with a shoulder button when the moment is right: i.e when going up, choose a small gear, when going down or in flat straight line, shift up to gain speed.

I'm sure the mechanic is fun once learnt, but the way it is display and announced in terms of sound was not obvious enough for me to work out the muscle memory of shifting gears; in a car game, the engine roar is loud and clear enough that I can use manual shifting just using my ears. But in Wheel World, when I tried to learn, shifting gears was too distracting to do while simultaneously handling the bike normally. If you want to classify that under "skill issue", it’s fine. My real complaint is more...the game never really forced me to learn. I went my entire 10hrs run without ever really needing the extra speed of shifting manually. One gear shifters worked perfectly fine. Which feels like a waste of a cool mechanic.

Since races are dependant on the terrain, some requiring thin wheels and light bodies, others big all terrain wheels and more weight, or anything in between, you will have to explore to find new pieces and spend some currency on buying new gear from a couple of vendors spread in the world.

I was always super happy to find new gear, most of it having some cool and fun design, and really changing stats, at times dramatically. I was just hoping for a tad more customization, like color swapping, so that you can build your own weird bike, while still having one color scheme for esthetic cohesion.

Finally, the game looks good, with very fun character designs and a simple but cute toon shader and great cartoonish sfx! The dialogs are funny and the soundtrack is great, with electro songs I still listen to almost a year later.

丑话说在前面，这不是一个尽善尽美的作品，或者换句话说，这是一个充满瑕疵的作品。游戏核心的自行车赛车玩法中存在着不少问题，碰撞体积的问题，与墙壁刮蹭的问题，莫名奇妙的翻车失速掉头的问题，赛道收集物摆放的莫名其妙的问题，ai肮脏的非正当比赛行为等等。
但是这又如何呢？一个沉默寡言的车手，踏上伟大轮回，奔向月球，已经足够浪漫了。
冷战Retro的艺术风格，合成器浪潮的配乐，有点脏度的色盘，加上人文非衬线字体，足够把你拉回到一个并不遥远的过去。而游戏剧情虽然简单，但却足够撑起整个故事。现代与传统，生与死，现实与浪漫，这些冲突与沉默寡言一味只是竞速的主角，又形成了一种荒诞的对比。如果不追求全收集，6小时内足以通关，不长不短的流程让人回味。
顺带一提，全程必须联网是我唯一不太推荐的理由，本来想在旅途中使用SteamDeck游玩，但是不联网没法玩把我搞不会了，又没联机要素，就一个好友排行榜何必呢？

Wheel World is a nice game where I can ride a bike and vibe to the music.

A nice vacation spot in the middle of now her and I all have is this bike, some music, and another group of bikers that make me love it so much.

Lets see, it has a nice pastel and cel-shaded world that makes it look like it is hand-drawn and was taken directly from the artist’s hands, and scanned into the digital world. Quite frankly, it also enhances the lsush,

The main character is Kat, and you are given access to the spirit of the Wheel World and your goal is to save the world. Honestly, this is a nice premise in a rather peaceful world.

The story is interesting enough, as I get to deal with a group that likes to race. Each of the character has some surprising depth behind it.

The usage of a bicycle is an interesting mechanic, something we don’t see often in video games. And I appreciate it. The races are nicely designed but repetitive, which is a drawback.

The music is pretty good. And I appreciate it.
Are there any downsides?
Honestly, the races can be a bit repetitive,
Story, feels a bit light even though the lore can be expanded upon,n given the topic. Like, tell me a bit more on the world, and spirits, and the general inhabitants.

Overall good game.

The developer put some serious effort into the game, and I love it. I love the art direction and wish to see more.

Also, the publisher Annapurna Interactive, and published the game after the drama in August 2024. A decent start bounceback. It even was described as the video game version of Hollywood studio A24. I look forward to more games from them, but now, I guess I can wait.

Wheel world is a really cool game that's well worth the price. The base mechanics are fun, the world (at least most of the game) is pretty and nice to be in. Definitely a game where you'll know within a couple of hours if it's your vibe.

On a deeper review, it's a solid base set of fun cycling mechanics in a game that feels painfully misled by its creative choices. The story is absolutely fine as a background narrative push for the game, but it takes up far too much space and frankly too many clicks. A lot of essentially repeat dialogue that has no agency. The random player choices in dialogue feel out of place.

Usually I wouldn't care about a game having no customizable character, but it feels like they missed a trick here. The game would definitely have an extra zing if you could pick a 3 letter name and design a character with a few simple choices since it's such an aesthetic/vibe game. Unlocking more gear as you go, letting you match/contrast/etc with your bike design. Not a problem with the game really, just something that could've added a little more player choice.

Overall, really enjoyable gameplay within a game that feels like it missed the real fun - racing. I wanted crazier tracks, more challenging races, and just a little bit more. in a complete finish in 4 hours, I was never even close to losing a single race. Way, way too easy but still a fun time for the price.

原本是看好评多才买的，玩了之后，比赛的时候各种空气墙，原本一大块空地正常骑着骑着就被挤飞了，而且还是在路中间，还有天天莫名奇妙平地翻车把我气笑了，摔地上还有倒放、有特写，然后视角里地上没石头，面前没障碍，就是撞了空气墙。比赛也是难绷，一开新图之后，路线直接难度飙升，障碍又多，弯道又多，还有就是这个转弯，天天莫名奇妙就直接掉头了，还有就是突然掉头之后想转回正确方向还会原地停车。图2电脑骑得比你一直加速还快，而你天天莫名奇妙平地摔，或者是卡缝里，或者原地掉头直接停在原地，真蚌埠住了。

As a bike mechanic, courier, and racer this game scratches the cycling itch better than anything I've ever played. Like any bike nerd I've got my nitpicks and would LOVE to see DLC or a sequel that takes the amazing core gameplay and makes things like gearing options more distinct and better balance against the AI so you can't just streamroll every race by going off the front with ease but especially for a $20 game (or $13 during the steam sale like it got it!) it was very worth the money and one I'll come back to for sure.

tl;dr: This game is a fantastic little ride with a few small bumps in gameplay that is easy to recommend to anyone interested. I got through 100%-ing all of the races in about 8 hours and will probably go back to do a full 100%.

I was super interested in this game since launch and finally picked it up on sale and completed it in 3 days exclusively playing on my Steam Deck. Performance on the deck was acceptable but definitely varied between smooth and a bit choppy. Perfectly playable but if you're looking for a solid 60fps I wasn't able to achieve that. Dropping settings down helps a bit but I didn't find it all that distracting.

Gameplay wise I have to agree with another reviewer: for about 80% of the game it's a nice, at times relaxing at times a little challenging, bike racing and exploration game. It's immersive, the skills are easy to get a hang of but difficult to master when you introduce the parts mechanics, and while the story isn't anything to write home about the characters you meet are fun and the whole experience feels nice and complete.

It's that final 20% that kind of turns this into an almost entirely separate game!

For one, there is a bit of a difficultly spike, with terrain being much more of a factor, AI cyclists going haywire, garbage on the roads, and needing to optimize your build based on the scenario being even more critical. To be fair, while these were at times a little frustrating, all it really did was change my play style a little bit and force me to do more re-runs than the first 80% of the game did. Some might really enjoy this additional difficulty, especially since it really only affects the last bit of the game, while others might find the switch up a little more frustrating.

I found myself somewhere in between. I was definitely getting more frustrated with AI, cars, garbage, and needing to start races over from simply oversteering myself into a wall. But at the same time winning those races or completing those achievements felt even better afterwards and at no point did I get frustrated enough to actually walk away form the game.

Overall, I really loved playing Wheel World, especially as someone who enjoys bikes and cycling. Playing portably on the deck was more than acceptable and by the end I felt pretty satisfied with the entire experience.

8/10 and would definitely recommend to anyone who is even remotely interested!

This is a good, but not great game. I'd recommend it for a good mostly relaxing time, since the difficulty I found to be pretty easy. The riding feels really good. The world was fun to explore, I liked the themes of the different racing groups and the race courses themselves were varied enough to not get stale. However there are some negatives as well.

The second "world" is where the game starts to lose it's charm. The roads in this world are littered with garbage scattered along the road where you need to ride. If you hit this garbage you get sent flying in a random direction, not a fun mechanic. Also the races in this world feature narrow pathways. which wouldn’t be a problem if it weren’t so easy for CPU racers to knock you off track with little you can do to prevent it. The tight passage ways make this problem even worse. Also some trophies are just not fun to achieve, for example needing to walk your bike 1km without mounting or fast traveling, which equates to what felt like 10 mins. For a game about riding a bike, that is not fun. Overall my cons are just that there are some design choices that are more frustrating than fun.

Some quality of life/feature suggestions as well.
- Bike Build Management: Saving multiple different bike builds a toggle between them. Often I just left my bike as it is when getting a new part because I didn't want to go through the menus to change it and then change it back, for forget how I had the build before.
- Character customization: big part of cycling culture is also the types of clothes, (lycra, backpack, hi-viz), being able to customize the look of the character and have some perks attached to that would be cool.
- Completion map: going through and finding all the collectables and Lone Wolf riders I felt were not worth it without some sort of map or guide.
- The geared bikes were unlocked little too late. By the time I unlocked a geared drive chain I already found a good single speed build so the drawbacks of the gear shifting made it not worth it.

You can really tell that the developers love bikes, and that makes the game for me. I also _love_ the soundtrack. I do wish that it had some more content or was priced lower. It took me about 5 hours to beat the game and that's pretty quick for the money. Overall, I think this is a great game to get on sale especially if you like bikes.

I'd recommend this game to anyone who's into cycling and sees this in a sale. The core mechanics are great; the visual style is appealing and the cycling feels great. Swapping out bike parts to get a different "feel" for your bike is really fun and noticeable.
The thing is, you don't need to bother with any of it. The game is very easy and short. Finished it in about 5 hours with 0 challenge. Even the "insane" difficulty races were won first try 90% of the time and the other 10% is just unlucky pathing from NPCs who push you against a tree.

When I started the game I felt very excited to see how it would unfold, only to find out there is little to actually unfold. There's some bikeparts with "perks", but it turns out there aren't more then a handful of perks either, and none of them are so game changing that you really want or need to go for it. I was excited at the prospect of seeing how the gameplay would change with various bike-builds, but it doesnt.

Again, the core gameplay loop feels very polished, but also very scarce. Every race has the same goals and once you have a decent enough bike that has decent top speed, there is zero need to have a certain 'type' of setup for any race. There's 2,5 biomes which also has little variation (one colourful nature based one, one drab city one and then the "epilogue").

The story might as well not have been there, but that's OK. Tony Hawks Pro Skater didnt need a story either, and the tongue-in-cheek tone was done consistently enough that makes it clear that you don't have to take any of it very seriously. I do wish they add some DLC or make a sequel that expands on the core systems; I expected tricks, weird bike parts that meaningfully change the way the core loop goes, and races/npcs/quests that actually require something different.

Furthermore, the ending is quite underwhelming. There isn't even a "well that was the story but feel free to go back to the open world and do all the races and quests" dialog, I just got kicked to the menu without fanfare and can go back before the final 'thing'. Real big missed opportunity. The same goes for some of the UX, it's weird to have quick and fast gameplay and then stop you in your tracks at the end of every race to slowly show you the same points after every race.

All in all, I really enjoyed my time with it and it doesn't overstay it's welcome with the short run time. The thing is, I wanted more, expected more. But game dev is hard and this is a tiny studio doing their best, so all I can say I salute that wholeheartedly and please, expand on this premise! The story, however silly it is, has plenty of hooks to do cool and weird things on a bike.
