This was my getaway game when my baby was born. When I could sneak away for 30 minutes, I absolutely loved the writing! The silliness of the world, the choices, and how easy it was to hop in and hop out.

This is a solid RPG, with a stellar sense of humor.

When I watched Markiplier play this I fell in love with this simple style and funny game. Super enjoyable and quite a few options and styles for a game that's literally just black and white stick figures.

This game is silly as all get out. I love it. Yes, there are quests to solves, secrets to uncover-and battles to strategize for. Watch the trailer again: DEMON COWS! Seriously, you are playing a stick figure in a cowboy hat with a six-shooter. If you are not laughing while you play this, I am so very, very sorry. Did I mention that it's silly? Expect silliness, but not ridiculousness. That would be poor form.

I always wanted to get this game when I saw gameplay of it on Markiplier's channel. It was one of my priorities when I first downloaded Steam back in 2021. I knew that I was already late to the party, but I still enjoyed the absolute heck out of it.

I recommend West of Loathing. It's not just a funny role-playing game with stick figures in it. It's an adventure that you should experience once.

Going in blind was an amazing decision.
What peak writing. Literally the best description is "Earthbound fused with Fallout."

Amazing that someone made a low-stakes RPG using literal stick figures this fun, engaging, and full of character. It's like your own childhood classroom doodles come to life with a lot of wit and character. The freedom to build absurdly lopsided characters is a total joy, and even the hidden leveling systems (like focusing enemy-type-based XP for each companion) are brilliantly implemented. Not to mention, the whole game is so ridiculously simple and optimized that it can run on a sandwich.

Somehow found deeper game design philosophy from this than any mainline series in the last ten years.

Hilarious 10/10 solid easy to understand mechanics with a world worth exploring over and over, a story that while goofy and might take a few goes to get the truly good ending, can honestly carry more emotional weight than you'd expect, especially through the companions and either completing or betraying their story.

Fun, hilarious, and as complex as you want it to be, West of Loathing takes all the tropes of a classic RPG and does everything you never thought of with them. The writing is excellent, with wall to wall jokes that had me in stitches. The combat is simple but interesting, though clearly not the focus of the game. The puzzles run the gamut, from straight forward to bust out the notebook and pencil. Replayability is high with multiple path to the end, multiple classes, and a few other things I won't spoil.

You do not have to be a fan of Kingdom of Loathing to enjoy this game, but if you are having a good time with West, I highly recommend checking out Kingdom. And excellent game well worth your time.
