Older but solid escape the room experience.
Graphics show their age, but performance is excellent. There is no smooth locomotion or teleporting, you have to physically move around the room and search for items and clues.
Best thing about this game, is that the puzzles work as intended. There is no "am i doing something wrong or is the game bugged?" feel. If nothing is happening, is because you still need to do something, and really everything is laid in front of us from the start.
Took me 20-30 min to finish the game, so a short experience but enteretaining and cheap one (i got it on sale).
Puzzles go from finding hidden object and using them where they are needed, to simple logic puzzles. Id say easy to mid difficulty.
Recommended even in 2024, understanding that this is an older, cheap (wait for a sale) and short escape the room game that mechanically works as intended, anyone that likes escape the room games should try this just for funsies.

My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

I paid £2.89 for this and finished it in just over an hour. It was well worth it and the puzzles were great. Probably took me 30 minutes to finish the final puzzle.
Recommended forna fun gaming break if you can get it for £2/3.
It is cheap and immersive, but short and needs a lot of refinement. For example dropping a balled up piece of paper makes a weird, unrealistic thunking sound.
Controls too could be improved, e.g. only one button seemed to do anything and things I expected to be able to interact with were actually just decoration. Would also love a way to recenter the room to better fit my play space.
Worth the £2 I paid, as long as you have the true room scale area to play in.

For 2022, seamless and playable. Still fun as one of the first vr escape room games from 2016. But, the graphics looked outdated and there were only a few puzzles to solve. I had fun, though it wasn't as good as Belko VR.

A pretty decent VR escape room game. It's a shame there aren't multiple levels though.
The game is not very well optimized. It "auto-grabs" objects for you when you bring your controller near them, but then lets go soon afterwards, and manual grabbing (via pressing the trigger) is very picky; even if your controller as represented on the screen is right on top of the object you are trying to grab, sometimes you will just not be able to. Another issue I have with this game is that a certain object does not spawn until you have interacted with another certain object; in an escape room in real life, nothing would just magically appear from thin air once you've touched something. I would like to add on that this game does not allow you to move freely using the joysticks, meaning that for college students such as myself who are confined to tiny dorm rooms, playing games like this one is next to impossible - if you are curious, I was only able to play this game because I am currently back home.
First of all, this game is very basic. VERY basic. The controls are crude at best and uncomfortable.
The "programmer" expects you to crawl on the ground and stretch up high. There's objects hidden in places you can't see without glitching through the walls and objects. And there's other objects that are impossible to see high up if you're below 1,90m tall. Also it is basically expected that you at least have roomscale of 4 by 4 meters. Unless you live in a huge house, you're not going to have that kind of VR space.
I would call this neither a game nor an experience. Just a rip-off.
The only thing you get out of playing this, is a new prescription for glasses.

hmmmm. for me it was Ok. Certainly not the best escape room, but also not the worst.
There are two rounds in the same room.
The first round is pretty easy if you found all the fuses, but I had trouble locating the red fuse as it was IMHO out of the VR 'boundary' of the room to actually be able to get it, and I had to restart the game as the letter with the code for the second vault just vanished after I dropped it.
The second round only made sense if you actually got the 'yellow' cube and knew what it meant, but IMHO there were just too many possibilities and with that I didn't like it, that one should have had a simpel primer before needing to use it to the fullest.
Also I don't like endings where I really have to exit the game through the steam 'exit game'. There should have been an option to quit the game or go back to the main screen, with a quit button there.
I give it a 6 out of 10.
I think I got it at a sale for 2,17 euro and I think that's just enough..
I hope he learned from this first game, so I'm looking forward to playing the VR Vacate the Room 2.

Great game! The only part that made me sad was finding out that I couldn't actually escape the room, there was pretty good potential at the end for a decent ending. Can't complain though it was very cheap and fun! This game should definitely be added to.

This was my first escape room game in VR, so it was very funny and cool to get a taste of this kind of game. I really liked the small room and the short duration.
Pretty short, confusing at some point, though pretty much a game that you expect.
So, this is "Escape the room" title with some simple puzzles that will take you around 20 minutes to complete.
i've completed it in one "standing" and at some points tricked myself thinking that the puzzles would be more... demanding.
Though a lot here is aimed to confuse you.
Definitely worth a grab if you're a genre fan.
This was a fun 10, maybe 15 minute (if you get stumped) game that needs room space to play. it is a basic as it comes but it was fun for a beginner room escape. As the note says, find the fuses, find the letters, find the keys (in some order) I think (hope) i got this on sale as I think the price point is high but back in the day (2016) we were all thirsty for games like this!

This game barely has puzzles, most of the game consist on searching for items in a way that's not intuitive for VR as you need to walk trough solid objects to reach some places.
a nice short vr escape room. i enjoyed it in the 15 minutes i used to finish the game. the only problem i encountered is that some items that has to be found and picked up were in corners on my play area and the sensors were going nuts so i had to improvise :)

I loved this game. I especially liked the clever puzzle in round two. I had to solve that puzzle without looking anything up or without pencil and paper, so it was hella hard. Also, I'm still gonna recommend the game, because it was amazing and one of my most enjoyable VR experiences, but I'm a bit miffed that the "object" of the puzzle from round two isn't a Steam VR Collectible that can be earned. Honestly, just having the object wouldn't give away the solution of the puzzle unless the "object' were sloppily named as a Steam VR Collectible. I really wish I could display that super cool object in my Steam VR Home, or buy one in real life. It was super cool.

- Bedienung: Gegenstände werden mit Touch auf einen Knopf gehalten/verwendet - statt drauf zu drücken (gewöhnungsbedürftig).
- Ich kam zwar mit meinem Raum (1,5m²) gerade so an alles dran, aber das war auch schon knapp. Es gibt leider keine Möglichkeit, sich im Raum neu zu positionieren oder zu drehen.
- Man muss vorsichtig sein, da man sonst ggf. Dinge durch die Wand werfen/drücken kann.
- Kein Menü / keine Einstellungen.
- Keine Geschichte oder Handlung.

The controls for Oculus are terrible. I'm sure they're much better for HTC or this wouldn't be well reviewed, but it's like impossible to pick anything up with Oculus.
Nice escape room game.
Incredibly bad tracking, when items fall on the floor, i cant pick them up, because the floor in the game is lower than the actual floor in real life, and the same goes for the wall. when items are hidden behind shelves and desks, i cant get them, because the wall in game is further than the real world wall that is there. and when items glitch out of existence... then you know there are some problems. I'm aware of the second game, which in itself has its own problems but I haven't beaten the game yet. Please fix the game so it is more enjoyable.

Played on a Acer WMR, VR: Vacate the Room is a very good escape the room game with some minor gripes.
Most of the puzzles are “reasonably” logical. The design is made for room scale. This is certainly very immersive, i found myself huddle on the floor looking for clues and peaking around objects. There's reason to reach for the games ceiling, this is a problem. For some people you may not be tall enough, for me I pushed my hand in my ceiling fan while it was running. No harm, but some thing to consider when playing.
The game is immersive to a fault. It stick to room scale “realistic” style of game play. There is no teleport to move or joystick support. There is no inventory, everything needs to be physically placed in the room. As far as i can tell there's no saving to come back later. So it lacks in convenience but due to the brevity of play time it's honestly not that bad.
Overall it's a fun experience, the issues are minor in context.
Like more people are saying: why are there not more VR escape rooms? This one is a good example of how it can work. I liked the interactions and simple things like the flashlight. I was stuck one time because I'm an egg. Bit short, but who can complain for €1,48 in the sale. The end is.. interesting...
But I would like to see more of the developer in the future, good work.

Probably the first VR escape room title I played, and >doh< I forgot to leave a review. Played it again today, and still pretty dang solid! Good graphics, stable game play, incorporates roomscale VR quite well by having you crouch down, and reach behind, and do all sorts of other things like that. I like it! Thumbs: UP!

VR: Vacate the Room ist ein weiteres kurzes Escaperoomspiel.
Man befindet sich in einem Raum aus diesem man entkommen muß, hat man dies geschafft, kann man erneut versuchen zu entkommen, aber auf einem schwierigeremLevel, es gibt also durchaus einen Grund das Spiel mehrmals zu spielen.
Die Lokationen im Spiel lassen keine Wünsche offen und es gibt wohl kein Land der Erde, in den man die Infotexte nicht in der Landessprache lesen kann.
Die Grafik im Spiel ist gut und die Immersion hoch. Das Spiel nimmt sich an einigen Stellen selbst nicht zu ernst, was mir sehr gut gefiel. Vor allem die letzendliche Lösung zum verlassen des Raumes habe ich so vorher noch nicht gesehen und entsprach ganz meinem Humor.
Aufgrund des Humors und des niedrigen Preises und der Möglichkleit das Spiel abgewandelt nochmal zuspielen, von mir eine deutliche Empfehlung für alle Escaperoomspielfreunde.

I'm no escape room expert and I've only done one in real life with a team of 6 other people. It took me almost an hour to solve this one and I really enjoyed it. I think this VR room would work good if you have a smaller boundry setup. As a matter of fact I thought it was kind of nice to not have a huge room to where I'd have to move (teleport) around a lot. It was nice to just work in the small space by turning around, bending down ect. That's not to say I wouldn't enjoy a bigger room though.

Fun, bit less than 1h playtime, but kept me intruigued. I didn't make one required connection in the second puzzle and had to cheat a bit but got most of it by myself. Would recommend, neat experience.

A decent escape room, but quite short and there's a couple of things that are not very well made. The ending is very lazily implemented and disappointing. Length is ~30 min and the graphics are passable. Also, it's only one room where you cannot walk around - the gaming area is very limited.
I wouldn't recommend this game, but it's not to say that it's a bad game. What I mean is that there is better content available even for free. Check out SteamVR's "Get Out" escape room (found under 'Environments'), that's a prime example of how to make a good escape room - and it's free!

The is a well done single room "Escape the Room" game. Once you complete the room once, you can then complete the same room again, but with different puzzles for a much tougher challenge.
The first room takes roughly 30 minutes to complete. The same room with the more challenging puzzles in it took me 1hr 20mins (as I [i]really[/i] didn't want to use a walk through guide). It's tough! That said it's also fair. All the information is there.

Pas mal, mais un peu court. Les énigmes sont plutôt pas mal, même si peu approfondies. Il y a plusieurs "indices" qui ne servent pas vraiment finalement. A prendre en promo, entre 1 et 2€ pour en avoir pour son argent.

It's pretty well put together, it looks decent and plays decent. Logically, it's pretty easy, but it might take you a bit to find all the objects you need to find.
[spoiler] The step with the red lamp isn't very easy to figure out. It's obvious that the piece of paper and the lamp are connected, but it's almost impossible to read the safe combination or figure out there's anything important on the paper. This could be fixed with just a texture change. [/spoiler]

This was a good game, but when i got to the part where i had to put the red/white paper under the lamp to see the code i just could not see anything! Then when i go look it up to find the code, people just look at it and instantly be able to see the code. Is there something wrong with my eyes or something because i just can't see it no matter what.
Over all it was a good escape room but a little pricey for how sort it was.
Beat in 17 min. Not too bad for $4
Short, but sweet. Took me 22 minutes to finish from start to end. If you enjoy escape rooms, it's worth buying if you can get it on sale. Much cheaper than an actual escape room. It'd be cool if they added more rooms down the line, but I'm not getting my hopes up. If you find that $5 is a fair price for a 20 minute escape room, this is the game for you.
War in 20 Minuten durch. Selbst wenn die Rätsel ein bisschen abgeändert werden, ist der Wiederspielwert, zumindest für mich nicht vorhanden. Dafür 5 Euro zu verlangen, finde ich ein wenig überzogen. Zwei Euro hätten da locker gereicht. Spielt lieber den kostenlosen Belko VR Escape Room, der ist anspruchsvoller und macht wesentlich mehr Laune.
Its a fun and amazing game. If you're good with puzzle games, this is the challenge for you. It was fun and thrilling being trapped and finding my way out! Definitely would say this is recommended people with strong minds.

If this game were free I might recommend giving it a go, but for the price it's just not worth it. There are better escape room style games out there for VR.
There are two playthroughs but I didn't have much fun with either. The first playthrough doesn't really even have puzzles. You're just searching for items and it you find all the items you'll get out. Some of the items are hidden in pretty unfriendly places too, given, even in VR, you try not to put your head through things/in tight spaces. And one clue [spoiler] (the note with the red light) [/spoiler] is just too hard to see, which is frustrating. Once you have found the items you don't even really feel like you've achieved anything.
Second playthrough has two puzzles. First one is fair enough. The second you'll probably either get or you won't depending on how your brain works. So again, you'll probably have little satisfaction because you'll either get it and you'll be done or you won't and you'll end up looking up the answer.
All in all I don't get the impression the developer has put much effort into making a balanced, well-paced escape room game. Maybe a year ago if it were free this would have been a nice tech demo/proof of concept, but when you compare what else is currently on the market, this isn't worth the price.

Vacate the Room is a straight up room escape without any bells and whistles, backstory or anything like that. There are two escape rooms to play, the main game and the EX mode, but they are essentially the same room and items, with the main difference being the EX room has the key items and order of puzzle completion jumbled up from the first room. The difficulty is tricky, but not too tricky and completing the room is more about being vigilant at looking in every small space than actual puzzle or logic solving. For that reason, it was kinda nice being able to get through the room without being too frustrated by hitting any brick walls. The only exception to this was in completing the secret ending puzzle for the EX room, which has a difficulty scale that is way out of left field compared to the rest of the game, and this puzzle was the only one that had me completely stumped to a point that I had to concede defeat and look up a guide, and even then I didn't fully understand how the solution was being reached, so it definitely left me wondering why that puzzle was so radically hardcore compared to the rest.
Visually, the game looks nice but nothing to write home about. The graphics are simple polygonal shapes with decent textures, but nothing spectacular. Even though there are no graphical elements with a wow factor, you do get is a sense of space and confinement in the room. There's no music in the game but the audio is good, despite being quite basic. The sound effects have a great echoey reverb to them, adding to the atmosphere of being in a squashed metallic cell. Some of the sound effects are a little comically misplaced though, such as dropping a piece of paper on the floor sounds like you are dropping a chunk of metal.
The game is listed as Vive only, even though it can be played with the Rift, and in fact you can even see the Touch Controllers as your hands. Being a Rift player, one thing I did notice was the Touch interaction could be a bit niggly when picking up objects; I'm not sure if that's because interaction in the game is just a bit niggly in general, or if it was the fact that I was using the unsupported Touch. Generally I found every now and again I would try grab something and it would kind of sticky drag and then drop, as well as sometimes it could be tricky to pinpoint where exactly the focal grab point is on the controller you are seeing in the game. This could be remedied if the developer included a little pointer orb on the controller display, kind of like how they do it in Hotdogs, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades. It also might be nice if you saw hands instead of controllers.
The game has no locomotion whatsoever and therefore full roomscale capability is essential. Steam recommends a play space of 2m x 1.5m, and that's about right. There are points where you'll stretching to reach every nook and cranny in the room, so if your roomscale is blocked off by a real life wall then you literally wont be able to complete the game, so be warned. But as for the roomscale itself, it works great. It's kinda nice and refreshing to get into a game and not worry about teleporting or moving around unnaturally with the trackpad. After a while I found myself getting into the zone where I was digging around the room for clues and I was so into it with the roomscale that you kinda momentarily forget you're playing a game; And in VR that's what you want. Needless to say, without locomotion VR sickness is non existent.
The current price for the game is great at $5, but there is one important factor to consider when weighing the value; The game is extremely short. I finished the main room in literally about 20 minutes. After that, I went on to finish the EX mode in about another 20 minutes. The only thing that held me up was that secret ending puzzle, which was about another 20 minues of being stuck and unsure what to do before I had to give in. On top of that, the game essentially has just one playthrough to it since after finishing the game you are gonna know how to complete the puzzles, so just something to consider. I think $2.50 would be a more on the ball price tage for the amount of content in Vacate the Room, to which I would then happily snap up any sequels that came out. Though, in fairness, I guess you could attribute the one-off entertainment value of this game akin to something like renting a movie.
Relativ kurzer Escaperaum (wenn man gleich alles findet).
Gut ist die Sprachauswahl und das man den Raum im Anschluss nochmal mit veränderten Rätseln spielen kann.
(Ein interessantes Feature, dass hier von einigen Kritikern übersehen wird.)

So this is one of many VR Escape Rooms. It's a bit short but you play through it twice which is a nice twist. The puzzles are dificult enought to make you think for a few minutes but easy enough that you will figure them out eventually.
It's not the best Escape room but it's a fine little piece of VR entertainment for a few dollars.

With the lack of an ending, the length of gameplay (maaaybe 5 minutes) and the price, $4.99 (which works out to about $1 per minute), this game is NOT recommended. Seriously. Don't waste your money.
To the Rift users: You only use one button on the touch controllers which is the trigger BUT you do not use/trigger it by pushing it in to grab stuf,, you just have to touch the touch sensitive surface (if you don't know what i mean: use the button like a smartphone screen. Don't push --> touch it) After this initial frustration I had another problem: Beware that you need a correct tracking height which seems to be tricky to set up correctly with the rift anf steamVR. If you have problems just set it a tad bit low so you can abrely reach throught the ground with your rift controllers when barely touching the floor of your room.
The experience was short but I liked the ending. I feel like there could have been a little more stuff to do with all the objects but it was decent fun. I wouldn't say I am unsatisfied but leaves a bit do be desired :/ I would stil recommend it though.
Ein kleines aber feines Escape Room-Spiel. Die Puzzle sind einfach zu lösen und die Gesamtlänge des Spiels ist mit ca 20-30 Minuten auch nicht alzu groß, dennoch gelungen.
Die Grafik ist stimmig, es hab keine Trackingprobleme oder ähnliches und als Bonus endlich mal mit deutscher Oberfläche. Ist zwar nicht unbedingt nötig in diesem Spiel, aber trotzdem mal angenehm, sich nicht immer den Kopf wegen Übersetzungen zerbrechen zu müssen.
Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist meiner Meinung nach in Ordnung, von daher spreche ich mal eine Kaufempfehlung aus.

Another quick escape room VR experience for the price you pay. It's not so much of a puzzle solving escape room, but more of a just look everywhere and you'll easily find you way out. Well done, but don't expect to much in length and breath of challenges.

Mildly entertaining escape the room game. If you love the genre it's worth its price. If not, $5 is pushing it. Some parts of the puzzle were simply solved by looking behind corners you wouldn't even notice, therefore wasting time trying to be clever.
It's alright.
This was our first "escape room" type of game with VR. This game was quite fun, even if you feel stuck at times. Some of the items are so well hidden that you may have to sweep the room a couple of times to find that missing fuse you were looking for to turn on the lights. All in all, we would play again!

-Hard mode puzzle is challenging
Cons:
-The flashlight is your friend...DON'T DROP IT ON THE FLOOR - had to restart a couple of times due to not being able to pick it back up
-For all the work involved, the ending is quite meh (though I don't know what else I would expect from an escape game)
-Not much replay value, happens a lot with escape games

The main puzzles feel logical. But there's some bonus achievements that are beyond me.
A well made game.
This game is interactive and fun. It's a perfect game when showing VR for someone who is not so experienced with the technique. You get to walk around in the room and pick up different things to be able to solve the puzzle and escape the room.
The graphics are fine, the environment is well made and items interact with eachother. You really get to work your brain to be able to solve the puzzle and in the end you are served a little twist which is really fun!
