this on is a good improvement from the first 1 and it gives unlimited fishing and ur farmers climb trees to get the coconuts wich i havent seen no other vurtal villagers game do that the tech only requires 1 person and 2 builders but more on farmers since there is more food sources in the game overall this 1 is very good

I feel as though Virtual Villagers 2: The Lost Children holds up better then it's predecessor. It's also a lot harder to actually survive.
One of the biggest obstacles in this feature is actually just staying alive - food is very scarce regrettably from the get go. You can briefly fish in the ocean from the start, but eventually algae will infest the waters and the villagers will not swim nor fish in it. To fish again you'll need Level 3 farming which is, if I recall, 90k tech points, not including buying Level 2 farming. Then after you get Level 3 farming you need to drop a Master Scientist/Master Farmer into the pond and they will pull out algae eating fish (don't bother questioning how a fresh water fish gets put in the ocean.) and you need to do this with a handful of people or a handful of times before it actually works. [b]The fishing is the only solution to feeding, regrettably.[/b] After the first bout of fishing and the algae if you get Level 2 farming you can unlock the ability to get coconuts. But these don't regenerate NEARLY as much as they ought to. It's essentially the fish all over again, but you get 10-30 coconuts every new day. Which is not enough for a rough villager count of 10-20 you usually have at this point of the game. Besides the coconuts you can create a dam above the covered ruins and reroute the water into a plantable field. This is a crop field that supplys about 700-800 food every yield. [b] Every 200+ mins (just over 3 hours.)[/b] It keeps them alive but rarely will you see that food counter not be at 0 unless you get to the algae eating fish pronto.
The puzzles are more obscure as well from the original! After you get Level 2 exploration you are likely trying new things to figure out where you can progress - I was dropping villagers on the vines, the ruins, the box, everywhere. Eventually I caved and looked it up. Right above the research table is a pile of rocks. In a little nook in the dirt at the rocks there is a three tipped MINISCULE POINTY ROCK. You need to drop a villager on that. Then after that is done you need to drop a villager onto the vines right below those rocks. [b]This will make cutting tools, something you need for 2-3 other puzzles later on.[/b] It's actually ridiculous how small they are. Or this game also introduces Stews! The stew is made with 3 of the herbs that are provided around and also some food. It not only feeds the villagers but gives them a boost/debuff depending on the herbs you put in. And there is a SINGLE recipe you need in order to give the villagers water-breathing to dive into the pool and retrieve one of the gong pieces. By the way [i]you can use the same herb more then once in a stew.[/i]
This game upped the difficulty for sure and I think it's still well worth it. Either on the bundle deal reduced or solo price reduced, mind you, as I don't feel the original Virtual Villager game holds up as this one did. I can't say I'd openly suggest it to people but it's still a nice edition. Wish they included achievements but I'd also rather not spend wasteless hours waiting for collectibles. I did the puzzles and that's good enough for me.
Why do I only start with 3 adults? One gets pregnant and now I only have 2 workers in the beginning of the game. Restarted a new game five times with no different results
A continuation of the franchise, this one has the exact same feel as the first one but the puzzles are way different. Much more complicated and trial and error is your friend here.

I love Virtual Villagers. I've literally been playing these games on and off since my childhood. But it is a flash-based game; when Flash was discontinued, that meant that any modern computer that didn't already have flash downloaded COULD NOT play these games anymore.
I was so devastated. I've been trying emulators but I'm not very tech savvy, and could never get these games to run. (Side note: all of Last Day of Work's games are available for purchase on their (quite old) website). I had come to terms with the fact that only someone in the know with emulators would ever get these games to run, and the files were very close to slipping through the cracks and being lost to time- not even big adobe rescue projects like Flashpoint Archive had any Virtual Villagers or Virtual Families games.
When I saw these listings on Steam, I thought maybe these were a select few that had been updated to HTML5. Maybe these Steam versions were the last possible way to play these games. So I bought this one as a test... but just as when I tried to use LDoW's version, the Steam version of this game does not run. Because it needs flash. And modern laptops do not come with flash anymore. So it's impossible... Or so I thought! -->
In a last ditch effort, I hopped onto the discord server for Ruffle (a flash emulator project) and asked them for help. I linked LDoW's website and... the games were working? Just fine? /Without the emulator??/ Apparently just recently, Last Day of Work updated every game in the Virtual Villagers series to be compatible with modern hardware, without the need for flash. And they're all FREE!
I tested them and yes, they work! I am so happy that these games have been updated. This series truly holds a special place in my heart and in my childhood. I was so sad thinking they'd be lost forever- and now in one day, I'm able to play every single one! Please don't buy these old Steam versions, they won't even open if you have a newer computer. Please go to LDoW's official website and download them for free :)
TL;DR - Steam uses the original files that require flash to function, so these games are all totally busted. Last Day of Work's official website has FREE editions of these games that have been updated to work on modern computers :)

I love the original trilogy of the Virtual Villagers games and I've been playing them since I was a child. Not being a smart enough 6 year old when these games came out, I am revisiting the OG trilogy to see success. So far second game is great. I have yet to complete it as I choose to not no-life this game. Loving it so far, very nostalgic.
Super fun and nostalgic game! Easy to beat, but requires a bit of a time investment and grind in the beginning, until your villagers are a bit more self-sufficient, and don't run the risk of starvation.

A great classic game to have played growing up and solving the puzzles without any help! It's one of those games that challenges you to figure out how to solve the issues that there are on the island in real time and it throws obstacles at you randomly. Some you can choose what to do while others you can't. One of my favorite games to play and truly a great challenge game in a big franchise that I recently discovered got rebooted. Not sure if I would do the reboot after playing all of these games and beating most of them, but that's just me. If you are thinking about getting this game just to see what it's like, I promise you will enjoy it if you can give it some time to get some of the villagers to get stuff done and you can get the puzzles going!
"Simple" they say, "Casual" they say, "Relaxing" they say, and the you get to watch your islanders carry the desiccated skeletons of the two and four year olds whose conception you had a direct hand with and watch them buried right next to your favorite elder who all died of starvation while you were asleep.
Protip: Once you've unlocked the stew pot starvation stops being a problem as long as you know the recipe that fully heals whoever eats it. Two blue flowers from the area above the graveyard and one orange one from directly south of the stew pot. This will restore to full health anyone who eats it. "But I have zero food!" The coconuts are glitched, even though it says there are ten, send your entire village up those trees until everyone has coconuts. They're not counted as plucked from the tree until they're in your food stores, so you can gather as many as you have villagers as long as you grab them before anybody gets to the storage. This should easily leave you enough food for the stew, and should keep you from uninstalling in frustration as you watch your tribe starve and repeatedly click on the crops which somehow always seem to be 200 minutes away.

I played this game as a child, and I'm so happy it's on Steam. It's a fun game full of puzzles and decision-making to keep your village alive. I'm really enjoying it again as an adult. Whether you've played it as a kid or not, I recommend purchasing this game.

A game from my childhood!! So glad this is still available!! It doesn't really hold your hand and the puzzles can be tough to figure out at first. Graphics are nice for a game from 2007 lol but it's more about a laid back real-time survival management puzzle solver. I'm a biased reviewer for sure as the nostalgia is strong here but if you like this genre, go for it! Think of it as a precursor to Sims mixed with Oxygen Not Included. I love it. You'll get surprisingly attached to your little tribe, too!
This game is so much fun. It starts out kind of slow and requires a lot of grinding, but it becomes enjoyable after you start completing puzzles. One thing I did not like about this game is how there is no ending. After you complete the gong, the game continues as if you never solved any puzzles. It is underwhelming.
I remember enjoying this game as a kid back when it came out, so I bought it the other day and it's just as fun now as it was back then!

Desde su entrega anterior (Virtual Villagers: A New Home) se tomó lo mejor y se aumentó la apuesta con más puzles, una isla un poco más grande con más objetos que descubrir y una nueva sección de colecciones, las cosas toman más tiempo para poder realizarse así que puedes relajar la frecuencia con cual visitas a tus aldeanos, pero lo que te mantendrá ocupado es estar atento a los objetos coleccionables que aparecerán por un corto periodo de tiempo y darán bonificaciones de puntos de "Tech points".

esta bueno el juego, es lo mas, lo que si. no me parece correcto que solo las mujeres de la aldea cuiden a los bebes porque tarda demaciados minutos en crecer el bebe. y tambien me parece malo tener que jugar tanto. es decir, tener que entrar a cada rato al juego para asegurarse de que no haya enfermos o escases de comida. lo otro, es perfecto.

Great game, a good successor to the first. Introduces a number of new features that persist through the later games. If you liked 'A New Home' then you'll definitely enjoy this one I reckon.
The Virtual Villagers series has always been one my favorites since I was a kid. If you want a casual/simulation game that requires some puzzle-solving and villager care, this game is it. However, this game is not for everyone.
Pros

+Game progresses at selected rates even when the game is not running: paused, slow, normal and fast.
+Customize villager outfits (after building the required shack).
+16 unique puzzles to solve.
+Endless replayability (game will never end unless you start over or every villager dies).
+Multiple save files (tribes).
Cons
-Beginning of the game is very tough, villagers are inexperienced, there is a lack of food resources, and only a few villagers are able to work.
-Villagers can/will die even if the game is left off for so long.
-Villagers need to be manually taught how to do things, like building and farming.
-A villager must be 14 years old before they're able to do a lot of things.
-Game can be extremely boring once everything is completed: puzzles, steady food supply, all tech upgrades, etc.
Probably my least favorite of the classic three, but still a fun game. Restarted it recently and forgetting the series of events kicked my ass, but once I remembered what to do I had fun again
I played this game as a kid with my dad. It's an old one for sure. It's fun, though! It doesn't have a ton of replay value, but the first time through the game, there are puzzles to solve and achievements to get! It's cute and simple, but can be played with any computer, and it's long-lasting!
same mechanics as the first one, just a new story and goals. still fun though. good to have running in the background or for playing in class. only have to check on it every half hour or so

The second of the series and it is fun, I'd say a little better as there seems to be more flushed out. Great to come back to as it is in real time so you can just check back every now and then. A Great game for killl/passing time.
