I don't play much of Billiard game but feel pretty fun when I play this game.
Still one of the best pool games around. I have played many others and always come back to this one.
Everything is quite accurate i would just like to play online where it doesnt want to start up
Firstly, the default aim is off center- would think you could have fixed by now.
Second, your newly updated fonts totally suck. You need a real designer to help you.
Third, your online multiplayer is a joke. Can only play one game at a time in garage and no tourneys unless I dish out more money! I would gladly play for real money, so your loss. Always see announcements for tourneys, but never see anyone in them. Wasted opportunities due to Capitalist no-talent piggies.

I bought this game specifically to be able to setup specific shots and scenarios, and to play them again and again with different angles and english. The trick shot option in the game allowed me to do this! That alone was enough to justify the price. Great graphics also.
So far the best billiards game I found with a campaign. Best if you are looking for a chill game.

Si te gusta el pool de verdad, Virtual Pool 4 sigue siendo el rey indiscutido incluso en 2026. Lo que más me vuela la cabeza es que Celeris sigue sacando parches; las actualizaciones de estos últimos dos meses se notan un montón.
Por fin arreglaron el tema de las fuentes y la resolución para que se vea bien en monitores modernos, y lo de poder elegir flechas de fibra de carbono es un detalle genial que le da un toque mucho más actual. Las físicas de la blanca siguen siendo perfectas, el efecto que le podés dar y cómo reacciona con las bandas es lo más parecido a estar en una mesa real.
El modo carrera de ir apostando en bares hasta llegar a ser profesional es super adictivo y los logros son un desafío de verdad, no te regalan nada. Si querés un simulador serio donde los ángulos y la fuerza importan en serio, ni lo dudes. Es una joyita que no envejece.
Over a decade of updates. Fun despite my pitiful play time
The background is ho-hum, but the graphics on the table and balls is very nice. The physics are awesome too. Lots of replay value. Although I love this game a lot, it just makes me want a real pool table for my garage.
The difficulty of this game seems to get worse with every update, and every time players mention the ai characters playing like aimbots the developer seems to double down on it and make it worse.
To show just one example, playing a bowlliards career against the tall steve character the ai character started with a 9 and then didn't miss another ball for 7 turns, before i quit. This sort of difficulty makes the game unplayable, and users cannot tweak it.
To make it worse, the aim assist system is buggy. The virtual ball frequently disappears for obviously pottable balls.
I have had enough of waiting for all of this to be dealt with so this review will be the result. Please make the difficulty more reasonable or allow users to tune it, and please fix the aiming bugs.

Отличный симулятор бильярда, хоть я и играю именно в русский бильярд но я могу зайти и поиграть в виртуальной с настоящей физикой во все виды бильярда в этой игре. Единственный минус это убогий начальный интерфейс, подписка на онлайн матчи (я считаю это бредом, ладно еще для турниров с призовыми влаживать нную суму но платить подписку чтоб поиграть с кем-то это бред). З физику и неплохой графен поставлю 8 из 10.
VP4 still has no real competitors in 2026.
It is a highly realistic simulation, with a ton of game rules, educational material and campaign modes on top. You could spend a lifetime playing this without getting bored.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. That said, it still receives substantial updates a decade later. This is Celeris's whole portfolio, and has been for 30 years; not a one-off from some fly-by-night game developer. This is the MS Flight Simulator of billiards.
It runs at 120+ FPS at any resolution on a potato and looks fantastic. Every other pool game I've seen or tried has poorer physics, poorer controls, poorer performance, and fewer options.
It appears the few competitors that exist want to skip the hard stuff and compete primarily on either the multiplayer experience (something I personally have not tried and have no interest in it), or graphics. On the latter point, believe it or not, there is not much room for improvement: the fact that billiards shapes are mostly mathematical primitives like spheres, planes, and cylinders makes rendering this stuff realistically trivial, they are what GPUs are designed around; slap some nice textures and good lighting on, and there is very little room for graphical improvement. The more "modern" titles use a lot of post processing, environments, and other gimmicks to "sweeten" the look, but this always comes at an unjustified cost to performance and comes across as more "theatrical" than "realistic" (and to my eye it often makes everything look like it's coated in Vaseline and sitting next to a fog machine). I would choose the clean look of VP4 every time, and high framerates are far more important for realism in a game like this than all those gimmicks, anyway.
There are certainly improvements that could be made to the UI and other ancillary aspects of the game. More game rules, campaign options, and exercises are always possible and welcome, even though they are already exceedingly copious. But no other game comes close; VP4 is still worth double or triple the asking price, and is unlikely to be superseded by anything but VP5.

I enjoy the game
Absolutely love this game! It scratches the itch when I can't go to a pool hall IRL. It also really helps you learn how to recognize angles and shots, which translates well to real life. The game feels super dated in a very endearing way, with pre recorded cut scenes simple and efficient UI, it's very nostalgic. The physics system is top notch and the graphics are excellent when in matches as well. My only real complaint is the AI, they go from missing the simplest of shots to running out the whole table on a whim, making the games feel kinda weird at times.

its not very realistic in the mechanics. it looks good but the way the balls move is very different from real pool. i play 4 ights a week and im pretty good. this game is lacking.

It's pretty good. The interface is extremely dated, but the in-play graphics & physics are good. It really needs an update though. English pool leagues have switched to International rules, which is "world eight ball rules" in this I think. However you can't play these rules on an English table so you end up with a US table with massive pockets.
It's still good for learning the physics & angles, setting up shots & single player tournaments. I've not tried online.
Of all the billiards I tried here, I liked this one the most.

this game is one of the best pool games i have came across. great physics, control and overall great for practice when a pool table is not readily available. i totally rec this game
i like quick-in/quick-out kinds of games. this is totally that, or, you can make it more challenging if that is your taste. as a novice player/gamer, the physics seem reasonable. although i did see a youtube on how to map this to a controller, i haven't gotten in that deep so game play is on the mouse and keyboard for me. not bad. i was just glad to still have access to a decent pool game.

After a quarter-century, it's still the best pool simulator of all time.
Shooters Pool is also good, but in VP, I feel the weight of the cue in my hands and the impact of balls on the table exactly as I would on a real table.
The Windows 95-style menu doesn't put me off at all... for me, it's pure nostalgia.
I'd love to have a mouse with vibration for this game so I could feel the cue hitting the ball... that's absolutely the only thing I miss in this game :)

One of the best cue sports sims out there. The ball physics is so realistic that it will help you improve your real game. One drawback is that opponents in snooker don't play the sport like actual snooker players would, especially on more challenging levels where they make unrealistic shots. The rest is near perfect. Highly recommended!!
The computer opponent, even on easy difficulty, will go from making terrible shots to running the table on the next turn. 🤷♂️

It feels very realistic for snooker. I'm equally as bad in real life as I am at this, making essentially the same mistakes on the same sorts of shots.
old but good pool+snooker sim, though I'm biased since I used to play VP1 and 2 as a kid. tons of types of games, tables, and even cues.
be warned, it's more on the simulator side, so you'll have things like the tip of the pool cue being randomly offset from the exact center, so you need to manually realign it. But the physics are some of the best in the genre. chances are, if you can do it in real life pool, you can do it in this game and vice-versa.
Only issue I really have is the AI can be very weird. Sometimes a novice AI for 8-ball will sink almost all of its balls with perfect shots and then have a bunch of weird screwups until you catch up. but some of those shots also set up snookers you need shoot around with jumps, kicks, swerves, etc - and you can do it.
Lots of tutorials and toggle-able aiming aids are built into the game, too, and you can set up trickshots and aiming exercises. Even if you have trouble with this game, it can teach you concepts for real pool pretty well.
If nothing else, you can shoot the balls so hard a bunch of them fly off the table when you're frustrated.
VP3 with new graphics.
Annoying, like the previously mentioned game, is that the game kind of `cheats` , meaning once it starts shooting, it makes 0 mistakes. Unless you play with trail/ trajectory help, you' re cooked. I always stopped before the final level (or two before?) . Can't even remember, as it' s annoying as hell to miss a shot and then for the CPU to just puck all of them (absolute waste of time) .
Cues that you spend money on to progress, you will need to sell, as you' re broke and go back to grinding lower matches. It means once you lose those high stake matches, you can' t join high paying ones anymore, but go `back to the basics` and grind again. The grinding is very slow, low reward in money and the CPU cheating is boring fast.
I gave it `no recommended` because of the cheating, but the game is actually recommendable, in multiplayer/ with friends.

This program with goast ball gave me the knowledge of how and where to hit the ball in real life I have won many ternaments with APA to prove the game teaches me many things how to play hit and win different games I am so glad I have this v pool and I se ir every day to not forget to play a shot in any games I play I have lost very little games after I have practice with v pool and I do play on reeegular tables and shoot very well on the shots thanks for the great program I give it a yes and a few other good words on what a great game.

I had the parent game on disc a couple of decades ago and having lost my faith in recent billiard games so I'd thought I'd download this from Steam if only for reasons of nostalgia . I only played snooker on the PC game and it's only snooker I play here but you've got the choice of a lot of cueball games
It's certainly recommended for people who remember the original game but it's also may appeal to those billiard game fans who find the likes of Snooker.19 disappointing . It can be a little bit frustrating and quite a few frames resemble the legendary Crucible semi final deciding frame between Kyren Wilson and Anthony McGill that both players make countless fouls and the frame ended 103-83 in Wilson's favour . Frustrating but also great fun

It's genuinely a fun game. I'm sure you could get a lot out of this as a person who plays a lot in real life and understands all the deep mechanics of Pool, but I play for fun IRL and this was a fun way to play at home for me without needing to buy a whole table. As a casual, this is super fun. Playing with friends is possible and probably the best way to enjoy the game as a casual, but there's online play for those who want to face more serious opponents. Honestly, it's an impressive piece of software with a lot to offer for just about anybody who enjoys the game. There's loads skill settings and tweaks for a novice to enjoy as well as plenty of different modes and table set ups. The variety in everything is super awesome to see from a game that's just a pool simulator.

Virtual Pool has been the best simulator since 1997. I have purchased every single iteration (Windows versions) ever since. It runs great on Android mobiles and tablets. I still enjoy and recommend it.

This game comes with a hidden subscription that must be renewed in order to access full online play. The physics are wonky and make trick shots much easier than in real life. I would not recommend this game.

Nettes Billardspiel, mehr nicht. Online anzumelden ist ein richtiger Krampf, richtig Spaß macht es erst auf "Good Luck", davor ist die KI einfach nur grottenschlecht, beim Snooker kommt kaum ein NPC über 50er Punkte. Aber besser als der Rest, wobei ich einiges aus Virtual Pool 3 vermisse, zum Beispiel die Wahl eines Snookertisches als 10 Zoll-Pooltisch, hat deutlich mehr Spaß bereitet, als jetzt

Kibitz lines and ghost balls work when they want to. Don't even think about changing the size of the small ass window in the middle of your screen - it will CTD the game. So I'm stuck with a six inch window in the middle of my 32 inch screen. Pathetic!
