I'll be honest, this was one of the most frustrating games I've ever played. The controls are a mess, & the game itself is deliberately obtuse, but I do think it's worth playing if you have the time! There's a moment you start flying around the desert at the very beginning & realize you can just... Go anywhere??? & not only go anywhere, but everywhere you go is an actual place you can go & feels like it was part of the world? THAT was worth it. That was extraordinary.

Just... The way the environments move all around you, the way the bird/boy moves through the world, the art direction--A LOT went into it. The internal mechanics must be fascinating. It's very reminiscent of Ico in the way characters move. It's clearly very inspired by Journey & Team Ico games, but I DO think it has something unique to say that's just as dark and deep and yet hopeful.

I appreciated it, though I'm not sure I enjoyed it. I think it is worth experiencing, but you must accept a LOT of clunkiness & frustration to experience what is frankly, quite transcendent beauty. I hope that more people will give it a chance & I hope all the people from Friend or Foe Studio are prospering wherever they are.

A very abstract and immersive game that gets compared to Journey quite a lot, but I think it's a surface level similarity. While Journey is also a quiet, enigmatic experience, I feel like that game is very frictionless while here you may find the controls and camera slightly frustrating and apparently a lot of people have trouble with where to go or what to do.

Personally I had a blast with the game, I think it was very evocative and explores some very interesting themes and culminates in a poignant ending with a lot to say.

I loved the bleak, strange atmosphere and the overall sense of weirdness the world has. It feels lonely and off in a way that really worked for me at first.

Eventually the map design and clunky controls wore me down. Getting around stopped feeling mysterious and started feeling frustrating, and that’s what finally pushed me away.

Careful when exploring though, because I went "Can I go in there?" a few times and fell through the map on 3 of those occasions.

I never really understood this game or its concept. It jumps from one thing to another without any real logic or direction, and the gameplay itself was clumsy and frustrating. It completely failed to deliver on what the trailer promised.

Honestly, if you’ve watched the trailer, congratulations — you’ve basically seen the entire game. I regret buying it.

Unfortunately this gave me too much motion sickness. I might've given this a middle rating if possible, I don't automatically thumbs down games for that, mostly I just want to warn others who might have the same issue, but I have a couple other complaints too.

- Other reviewers are right about how difficult the controls are. And the camera moves sometimes even when you don't move it yourself. Also worth noting you can invert axes and adjust sensitivity but cannot change keybindings.

- From what I understand, the game only has a few save checkpoints. (Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.) If you stop before then, you lose your progress. In a walkthrough I looked up after, it took the person 40 minutes to reach a checkpoint. So if it's your first time playing and you're struggling to figure out what to do on your own, it might take even longer. It's not very accessible design, because there are lots of reasons someone might have to stop or want to play in smaller increments.

- There's no guidance. The game drops you into a big open expanse, it's hard to even figure out which direction to go. In the walkthrough, he was in a cave turning human again in 11 minutes. When I stopped after 20 minutes, I was completely lost, still a bird, following the other birds because I thought that was what I was supposed to do, trying to figure out how to solve what I thought must be a puzzle with the structure I'd landed on (I still don't know if it was or not). YYMV with this, maybe you like that sort of freedom.

Anyway, the visuals and audio for this game are beautiful. I can't comment on the puzzles or story other than to say guidance is minimal. It might be worth playing, despite its issues, if you're not prone to motion sickness and can play for chunks of time without stopping.

This game had so much going in for it for me.
The first few levels kept me intrigued with their lovely visuals and music.
And then the final level broke numerous times, alongside a very questionably designed final ascent.
I liked it for what I enjoyed, but in the end it is all spectacle, and unfortunately the gameplay couldn't hold out until the end.

I wish I could give this a side-ways thumb, but there are jarring issues that remain neglected and unfortunately dampen the experience as a whole. So sad to see this sullied by questionable design choices and broken gameplay elements.

Un jeu singulier, une ambiance incroyable, visuellement époustouflant (dans on style très particulier). J'ai pris un vrai plaisir à dérouler cette petite histoire jusqu'au bout.
Certes, il aurait certainement mérité une meilleure finition, les problèmes de caméra peuvent être pénible, j'ai aussi été coincé dans le décors une fois, mais le checkpoint était peu avant donc ça ne m'a pas beaucoup dérangé. Ça reste compréhensible vu le côté mobile permanent du décors, parfois auto généré quasi sous vos pieds (dans la dernière phase du jeu, très impressionnant techniquement et artistiquement d'ailleurs). Mais ce n'est pas ce que j'ai retenu. C'est aussi très court (1h30-2h si on ne tourne pas trop en rond). Ça aurait aussi sans doute été mieux si on avait été un peu guidé parfois, notamment dans la première phase en tant qu'oiseau où, si on a pas trop le sens de l'observation, on peut rater les indices (trop) discrets. Mais c'est cohérent avec l'approche ultra simpliste du gameplay et de l'interface.
Le prix d'origine peu sembler un peu élevé, notamment vu la durée très courte de l'aventure, mais si vous pouvez l'avoir à vil prix, ça vaut vraiment le coup.

Die größte Enttäuschung in meiner Steam-Bibliothek! Das Spiel ist für mich komplett unspielbar, da es den Controller entweder gar nicht oder falsch erkennt. Ich habe wirklich alles versucht, ohne Erfolg. Laut Forum bin ich nicht der einzige, den dieses Problem betrifft. Nach all der Zeit wird das Spiel einfach verbuggt im Store gelassen, ohne jeglichen Support. Sehr enttäuschend.

Besides the unclear guidance, Vane’s controls feel loose and sometimes fail to respond properly, making puzzles and movement more frustrating than they need to be. The collision detection can be inconsistent as well, which is a real problem in a game where puzzles often require pushing objects or landing precisely on small metal platforms. The only bright spot in handling these awkward controls is the rarely used but very smooth synthwave soundtrack.

I always assumed this game was well recognized. When I looked up the reviews I was shocked to see how few there are.
Visually this is one of the most insane games I have ever played. Nothing before or after ever reached this style and atmosphere. The open-ended exploration and confidence the game has in the player to get lost and find their way is executed super well. Rarely do you get to play a game where you really feel like there are no level boundaries and finding something hidden far away is a breath of fresh air. It has the atmosphere and mood of an indie classic, and for me it will always be one.

I kinda don't recommend this game to most people, but I also didn’t want to give this a negative rating as I was hoping the studio would go on to do other really creative projects (looks unlikely now unfortunately) and so don't want to hurt it further.

Vane is a visually stunning game, clearly at lot of time and effort has gone into crafting the visuals and its story through actions.
However the gameplay severely lacks this polish.
The studio was inspired heavily by Fumito Uedas design philosophy, but a important mantra of his is to 'do more with less' (Last Guardian struggles with this as well) namely its absolutely fine to have not many gameplay features, but the ones you have, have to be incredibly well polished and feel great, so there is no resistance to the player.
Otherwise you get these kinds of reviews calling it crap because if you have underdeveloped mechanics in you're game, it sets the expectation that there are other mechanics to distract you from them (see basically all AAA games these days) which usually means you get statements like "the game is to short" or "lacks gameplay". This is padding, you don't need padding, but if you don't have it, it better be good.

Unfortunately Vanes primary gameplay loop -flying- is very underdeveloped, theres a lot of good ideas here, like using pressure/air currents to gain and loose height, but for the distance travelled, it seems a bit too demanding of the player.
Keeping the player engaged is usually a good thing, but hindering the players progression is a slippery slope when the 'win state' is to get from A-B.
I suspect this is why Death Standings walk mechanics are so light on mandatory player input by comparison.
When you look at trailers of this game the first thing that really draws you in is 'mann i want to fly over that landscape!' and reading some peoples reviews it looks like they were sold on that, but I think it makes it even more disappointing when it ends up feeling more like a chore to navigate, which is probably disproportionately hurting this game.
I found my self begging for the walking sections, which is sad.

If anything does come out of this game, I hope it is the incredible dynamic polygonal visuals, which would have been animated non-conventionally to get this effect which is a sizeable risk to take for such a small studio. It really takes 'low poly' 3d art to a new place, and it would be a shame if no art director ever referenced this visual style again, because it is fantastic.
Arguably 'Jusant' has taken up that mantel but its not quite as visually impressive.

I think a similar game to this which gets the balance right between gameplay and visuals of a kind similar in style(ish) is 'Rime', which I whole-hartley recommend. but it is not quite the same thing.

For those who have an interest in beautiful immersive stylistic games, I think this is a recommend, just don't feel bad if you don't finish it.

TLDR: flying mechanics are bad and that's how you start the game and spend most of its runtime.

I will not try to sugarcoat it: Vane was a terrible experience. It has a number of flaws that makes its short runtime not a downside but a blessing.

[*] Awful camera. I am used to cameras bugging out near walls, clipping into said walls or getting stuck and refusing to move. I, however, have never seen a camera that bugs out even when there is nothing to collide with: in some places where you need to perform platforming it will become unresponsive for no reason, in other places when you are flying in the air the camera will position itself in a way that the bird (you character) obscures 70% of the scenery below. Making a camera this bad is nothing short of impressive.
[*] Horrible movement. A child, a bird? Forget it, your controls are those of a tank. It felt unresponsive and with this horrible camera any traversal on uneven terrain became a torture. Oh, and when you tried to jump to the next platform your character entered in a “fall protection” animation. Try guessing if this animation played at least once when I actually needed it.
[*] Empty word. In a walk sim. And by empty I mean both in terms of the quantity of things in it and the story behind it. And no, sorry, if this is one of those pseudo-smart “deep story about growing up” - it still doesn’t give you an excuse to make such an empty world.
[*] Constant annoying loadings. Your game isn’t even that big or long, why the hell are there so many loading screens?

Amazing game .....but

This game is very beautifully done, the visuals, the animations, actually flying around, swooping, diving, landing, as a bird was a joyous experience if you like that kind of thing. the birds flight, feathers and animations are equally game realistic and enjoyable. the plot (what plot?) is fairly simple, its a rather peaceful game, there are no bad guys so to speak (at least not at my progression) this game gives off a very ICO and journey like vibe.

Having said all that - the first couple of puzzles / levels are fairly simple and extremely enjoyable flying about figuring it all out.
once they introduce extra elements in the game, more confined spaces, less lighting... the human part starts feeling like Sisyphus rolling a boulder around, the camera is glitchy which annoyingly often results in launching oneself off the edge or having to constantly stop start because the camera is stuck in a wall.
This is also the case while in bird form, whilst birds trapped in small spaces never make good decisions i feel the camera work often results in less then graceful outcomes. The Sisyphus thing becomes more noticeable as you either progress or roll the ball around for ages, with no actual instructions or clues except dragging this ball around seems important (haha)

All in all this game is not puzzle heavy and is more a beautiful novelty although the camera work becomes agitating at times

Les graphismes et le sound design hyper bien sentis rendent l'expérience hyper immersive.

Loin de vous proposer de la satisfaction directe comme beaucoup de jeu peuvent le faire, celui-ci joue sur les sentiments qui vous traverseront durant votre épopée pour vous faire comprendre son message de fond.
Je ne peux en dire trop sans spoiler, mais sachez que la frustration que vous ressentirez par moment fait partie intégrante de cette expérience.

Une petite pépite de narration à mes yeux, je ne peux que recommander à condition que vous soyez armé de patience :)

Go play Journey, you'll enjoy it more and while both have that "you get you're own interpretation out of it" there's definitely more of a story to Journey.
While the Steam info says this has controller support it did not have any such thing for me. Pure WASD & mouse. While I don't think the controller would have helped much (as least from what I read on the other reviews) it might have been slightly better than the nightmare I had to deal with in WASD. Landing was extremely difficult where there should have been a "bubble" around each target allowing you to hit a trigger point to land.
Most puzzles weren't difficult but there were a couple that were just so vague that you have to go to the walk through for help. Then towards the end the tower walk was so trippy to try to navigate it gave me a headache.
I think it could be a really beautiful game but after 1 play in it's current state I'm going to avoid this and as you see, NOT RECOMMENDED!

Game starts out very interesting but quickly turns into a sloth of gameplay damn, almost could not bring myself to finish it. The movement is extremely slow just to artificially increase game time and turned the game into a masochistic chore. The stage where you have to push a giant ball at a snail's pace is maybe one of the worst gaming I did in my life, awful, so FU for that.

What a pity, it seems it could have been a good game if delivered correctly. Also, it tries hard to bee too "artsy".

Haven't completed this game yet, but man- it's throwing off Ico/Journey-type vibes. While the controls aren't my favorite when flying the bird, I am starting to get the hang of them, and flying can be delightful in moments. The adventuring itself is pretty fun as well, and doing it as a golden boy and crow hybrid is challenging and provides a nice level of diversity. You can tell the developers put a lot of thought and effort into this project. I look forward to playing it more soon.

Ce jeu à plein de défaut collision, soft lock de tant à autre et des problèmes de caméra. Mais qu'est ce qu'il est poétique et sublime, sans spoil il faut faire ce jeu pour la narration qui est vraiment incroyable. Ce genre de jeu ou l'ont ressort avec plus de question que de réponse. il laisse libre cours à la contemplation et l'imagination. la BO est exceptionnelle et en adéquation parfaite avec les ambiances. dommage que sa réalisation soit loin d'être parfaite même très frustrante à certain moment. This game serves best as a bird simulator. It had a moment near the begining of the game where I was flying around clueless, considering quitting, when things sor'tve clicked and I started enjoying myself. Unfortunately it was all downhill after that.

To sum it up, it's an arty game with an incomprehensible story without dialogue. You know the type.

If you like those kinds of games, you may like this one, but only if you can put up with the painfully slow movement, particularly as the human but also as a bird. There are many unintuitive ways to progress, and the ball rolling section is particularly painful as the helpers can randomly get stuck or lost and you may need to reload checkpoints (which takes insanely long for some reason)

This game started off with a very bad start for me. Early in the game there is this location deep within a cave where you have to climb upwards a very long way using very bad controls. There are also gaps in the floor which are hard to see because it is too dark. Also, the camera often gets stuck within the terrain making it impossible to see anything. What's even worse is that whenever you fall downwards, and that can be halfway through or even near the end, you are punished by having to restart from zero. This made it nerve-wracking for me. After many failed attempts I chose to quit. I said to myself that this must be the worst game ever.

Later that day I decided to give it one more attempt. I’m very glad that I did so because after getting through that first location in the cave all the bad things I mentioned did not happen again in the rest of the game. The game brought me through a wonderful journey that lasted 6 hours for me and which I finished in a day. There were great visuals and great diverse gameplay. I’m not going to say too much because I don’t want to spoil anything but Vane is right up there at the top with games like Journey and Rime. This game is just as good.

There were several moments in the game where I asked myself: what must I do now to proceed? I got stuck plenty of times but not for very long. With patience I always found what it was I had to do and I did not use a walkthrough to finish the game.

The game however did get buggy near the end. There is this moment where you have to push a giant ball forward. The ball several times got stuck in the terrain and I had to restart from the last checkpoint to be able to proceed. And one time there was this weird bug where I got stuck underneath the ball.

Without spoiling too much, I highly recommend this game. Try not to get disencouraged early in the game but give Vane a fair chance and you’ll won’t regret it.

First part is kind of confusing. I used a walkthrough because I did not want to fly around for hours, the game does not hold your hand in this part.
I did not get any trouble with the camera.

A short experience.

A game should make someone want to keep playing, not put it down within the first five minutes. But my experience with Vane was:

- Loading. Loading. Loading. For the smallest areas, for no reason.

- Failed the very first area, after trying to walk around the entire area the game had specifically centred your view on just to get sucked up into the air. Ah, a cutscene, I thought; nope, the game was merely reloading from the start. The opening cinematic couldn't be skipped. Eventually worked out that, despite the game centreing your view on one area, you're actually supposed to ignore that and head to the right.

- Flying as a crow was fun. Controls are a little clunky, but workable... Until you land, and cannot get off the ground again.

I Alt+F4'd. If that was my experience of the first five minutes of the game then I really don't know want to know how frustrated I'll get with the rest of it.

Игра ни о чем. На протяжении всей игры ты не понимаешь что делать, просто потому что игра ни о чем не рассказывает. Она не рассказывает сюжет, она не показывает куда идти и что делать. Всю игру ты проходишь на интуиции, в надежде что ты все делаешь правильно. В ней кривое управление, кривая камера. И по факту ничего кроме детских головоломок в ней нет. Игра не стоит своих денег. Не советую.

Сложно обосновать, зачем игре, делающей акцент на визуальном повествовании, настолько изнуряющее управление и периодически вводящие в ступор головоломки: нелепо выглядит как неспособная ловко приземлиться на жёрдочку птица, так и проживающая в здешних землях детвора, не желающая подсказать топчущемуся на месте игроку, в какую сторону толкать очередной золотой шар и т. п. — видимо перспектива попасть под надвигающуюся бурю ребятню совсем не беспокоит.

Также весьма паршиво, что символы для клавиатуры и мыши никак не стилизованы и выглядят откровенно ужасно.

Также хочется кинуть камень в огород тестировщиков по оптимизации - в требованиях очень заниженные требования и на железе выше рекомендованных выдаёт 60 кадров только в 720р на минималках. Выглядит красиво даже при таких настройках, но всё-таки хотелось бы видеть полноценную картинку в 60 кадров.

Также проблема в непрозрачности игровых заданий. Возможно это вина низких настроек и на нормальных настройках всё нормально видно. На минималках же приходилось тупо наворачивать круги вокруг да около, чтобы найти очередной крайне мелкий элемент игры для продвижения прогресса.

Камеру тоже разругали вполне заслуженно - дайте народу хотя бы выбор вариантов кинематографии и фиксированного обзора. Не все любят, когда обзор меняется чисто по игровым триггерам. Из-за этого не всегда можно поймать момент приземления на очередную перекладину. И если уж добавили надпись - нажмите F для интерактива, то уж можно и остальные элементы навигации добавить. Неочевидный игровой процесс такое себе решение без нормального обучения. Либо тогда давайте нормальные вводные, что конкретно требуется от игрока. В результате игра превращается из интерактивного процесса больше в созерцательный - то есть такие игры проще посмотреть на ютубе, чем самому в этом участвовать. Многие игры к этому стремятся и потом разработчики удивляются пониженному интересу. Так сделайте так, чтобы самому интересно было в это играть. Чтобы игровой процесс был отзывчивым, оптимизация хорошей, а задания понятными. Гадать по полчаса цель игры такое себе. Тем более в 30 кадрах.

Что ещё не понравилось - в графических настройках разрешение применяется сразу. И вот приходится вот так дёргать экран на каждом разрешении, пока доберёшься до нужного. Тоже странное решение.

По итогу не рекомендуется. Проще посмотреть процесс на ютубе, чем самому страдать даже ради красивой картинки. Кстати, со звуком тут тоже так себе. Он не такой насыщенный и глубокий, на фоне тех же документальных видео о жизни пернатых. Можно ещё в качестве альтернативы посмотреть документальные видео о птицах в высоком разрешении - это будет познавательнее и намного красивее.

一阵风吹过，我张开翅膀而去，初极狭，复行数十步，豁然开朗，整个世界的景色尽收眼底，我时而穿梭于峡谷之间，时而飞上云端，在着硕大的开放世界之中，自由洒脱的肆意漫游。我时而停下脚步，在落脚点歇息片刻，一览无余地欣赏着遗迹或是其他景色的全貌。在这孤寂的土地上，一抹绿色吸引了我的注意，这一片绿洲让我注意到其他生命的存在。我飞向前去，呼叫着我的同伴们，如同收到指令一般，我们的旅途仿佛确定了目的地，那是一个老旧的风向标，为旅人指引方向。我被其吸引，一股使命感油然而生......

游戏的玩法和美术都酷似《风之旅人》，一进游戏，就会被极具张力的场景所震撼，而随后画风一转，眼前是画卷般的开始和偌大的场景。抽象式的叙述手法，意识流的表现形式，夸张的美术特效，以及带有强力视觉冲击的复杂多样的场景，搭配简单机制的多样谜题，使得玩家沉浸于这个奇幻的世界，美中不足的是，人和鸟的设计相对割裂，没有在这方面进行深入的谜题设置。一阵恍惚，故事便以接近尾声。

总体来说，是一部小而美的精品之作，推荐游玩。特别地，虽然游戏的全成就不难，但败在没有参考攻略，很多成就没有思路，以下是笔者的一些简单的成就帮助，顺序基于流程顺序。

全游戏最长长长的成就，从岔道的山洞继续前进来到变人的地方，变成人向上爬阶梯，到一个可推的箱子的位置将箱子搬回左侧，跳上平台有一扇可以推开的门，走到外面开始三百五十里路，整体路线大概是一直贴着左侧墙壁走非常远的距离，最后在最高处往一个石柱子前进，来到悬崖处解锁成就。

Ich fange untypischerweise mit den negativen Punkten an: Die Steuerung ist träge, die Kamera ist oft im Weg und ich hatte oft keine Ahnung, was ich tun soll oder worum es eigentlich geht. Gerade letzteres hat irgendwie zur Atmosphäre beigetragen. Herauszufinden, was zu tun ist, ist in gewisser Weise die Herausforderung. Das Spiel lebt von der seltsam abstrakten Welt, der düsteren Stimmung und der totalen Andersartigkeit. Bis zum Schluss weiß ich nicht so recht, was das Ganze soll, und das hat mich irgendwie fasziniert. Stellenweise musste ich an den Film Dark City denken, in dem dunkle Wesen die Welt nach ihrem Willen formen. Im Spiel wabert und flimmert die Umgebung richtig heftig, alles bewegt sich. Ganz ungewöhnlich anzusehen. Spielerisch gibt es Abwechslung, aber auch nicht zu viel. Das Spiel ist mit drei bis vier Stunden aber angenehm kurz und übersichtlich, da ist die manchmal etwas langatmige Suche nach dem nächsten Wegpunkt zu verschmerzen. Gerade der Einsatz von Licht hilft hier recht gut.

Ein Spiel für Freund*innen künstlerischer Atmosphäre, die unbedingt frustresistent sein sollten.

- "Сюжет" игры, мягко говоря, неочевиден и слабо поддается какой-то интерпретации (хотя и не уверен что это "минус")

Vane works better as an amateur short film;
weird pointless camera angle drift, excessive shaky cam effects, and poorly planned forced camera angles.
gratingly poorly balanced audio, sounds that do not contribute to any storytelling, and the noise during "Storm" scene will cause headaches for many with sensitive hearing.
Achievements are afterthought add-ins for forced repeatability.

Would only recommend for individuals that want to watch a crow fly around a desert aimlessly while exercising a single finger or thumb.

This game Is like having a beautiful gf, but she is a Kick IRL streamer. Good to look at but horrible to live through the experience.
Like many mentioned the camera and bad control utterly ruin what could have been a good game.
Those factors are not the only bad things about this game. Right from the start, you get no direction and you end up flying around as a lobotomized crow until you finally see a glitter in the background and you know to head there, repeat this 4 times and you are done.
The other acts aint much great in giving direction either, but starting off like this is just a bad omen of what is to come.

So in the end, the game definitely is not worth the full price, maybe get it at a sale or bundle but even so, just watch a youtube vid about it to spare you the frustration of playing it.

Short game, short review.

The game has nothing to offer, bad story, bad controls, bad puzzles (if we can call the chapter 3 with the ball a puzzle) and the last chapter was buggy as hell. I fell inside the textures many times.
Got it in a bundle so no regret, but 20 euros for that is definitely overpriced.

A játékról így első körben nehéz írni, mert véleményem szerint egy elég szélsőséges darabról van szó. Az alap felállás az, hogy egy madár-ember szerepébe csöppen a játékos, aki elindulhat a saját felfedező útján.
Többféleképpen is lehet értelmezni az élményt, illetve a látottakat. Elég bonyolult alkotás, amiben ténylegesen a felfedezőképesség ad irányt és azáltal lehet egyre jobban boldogulni is.
Fontos kiemelni, hogy maga a játékmenet - ahogy a fejlesztői csapat is említi - direkt úgy lett létrehozva, hogy a játékosnak saját magának kell megtalálnia a helyes utat, illetve rájönni a megoldásra.
Az eltévedés garantált és személy szerint több rész is volt, ahonnan nem tudtam, hogy merre is tovább. Bátorít a játék a felfedezésre, és ezt egyedi megvalósításban teszi meg.
A hangok, hanghatások rendben vannak és a grafika szép. Maga a történet szerintem jól van kitalálva, azonban több módon is értelmezhető. Az út során a föld folyamatosan változik, formálódik és reagál.

My only complaints would be collision on the terrain in the last level other than that it can be finished in about 2 hours and if you're into these types of experimental artistic games its definitely worth it

Le ambientazioni e i paesaggi sono fantastici, accompagnati da alcune colonne sonore molto carine. Per quanto riguarda il gameplay e il comparto tecnico, invece, non ci siamo proprio. Lo stile grafico confonde e non rende chiare alcune scene. Tra l'altro la visuale viene costantemente ostruita dagli oggetti di scena o dalle pareti e bisogna sempre trovare l'angolo giusto per poter tornare a vedere. Per di più, il personaggio non rispecchia i comandi, andandosene un po' per i fatti suoi. Infine, la storia è lasciata completamente all'immaginazione del giocatore. Non ci sono linee di dialogo, non ci sono testi, non ci sono personaggi parlanti, nulla. Con un po' di accortezza e maggiore cura sarebbe potuto essere un buon prodotto, ma sinceramente per come è stato presentato non mi sento di consigliarlo.

I got this game in one of the many Humble Bundles I've bought over the years but never actually played it. The reviews on steam seemed quite bad, but I liked the art direction in game so wanted to at least give in a quick play.

Overall I had fun with Vane, it's a short game (little over 1.5 to 2 hours if you don't spend the time exploring like I did). It's art stands out and is evocative of old ruins and a desert wasteland, with strange, merging landscapes growing before your eyes as you progress. It's musical score is a great mix of 80s style almost horror synth wave and fit the tone and art direction nicely. It's puzzles were pretty simple but interesting enough that they felt enjoyable to figure out.

Where this game fails is its polish. The game is buggy, with a number of glitches and issues occurring that occasionally blocked progress altogether, and it's engine hasn't been well optimized. I'm playing this on an RTX3080TI with a 5800X3D with 16gigs of memory and a solid state drive, and this thing still ended up chugging in places. Occasionally it's gameplay also feels a little slow and directionless, like the designers didn't put in enough time to making each set piece feel genuinely satisfying to play through.

TLDR; fun short game experience with great art style and music, let down by a lack of polish, poor optimization and glitches. Worth buying if heavily discounted, or part of a bundle.

Ce jeu est assez mal foutu : le contrôle de la caméra est bordélique, le level design est pas ouf, au début on est constamment perdu à chercher ce qu'on doit faire et galérer à avancer (le conseil vis-à-vis de ça c'est que si vous êtes bloqués, allez voir ailleurs).
Le corbeau est très difficile à contrôler à la souris, le jeu ne prend pas en compte la manette de base alors qu'il devrait clairement se jouer à la manette.
On se retrouve bloqué assez souvent, et on doit retourner au menu pour aller au dernier checkpoint.
La musique n'est pas mémorable mais en même temps l'ambiance étant très sombre c'est compliqué.
Je n'ai pas compris l'histoire, avec l'or et tout ça.

If I had to put one game on everyone's list of games to play, that game would be Vane.

It isn't so much a game as it is an experience, with narration that leaves everything to your interpretation, because the game uses no words in unfolding of story it tells. It is purely audiovisual.

When Vane was released, press reviews weren't favorable. Median review score was poor. But is Vane really bad? It depends on the eyes of the beholder.

There will always be favorable and unfavorable reviews when review pool grows sufficiently large, and median should give you a general idea on how things are. Right? Sure, but here's the thing: Vane isn't a conventional game, nor does it want to be one. It's an experience that uses gaming as medium to carry across a meaningful message, which may or may not provoke you into introspection about what in my opinion is the most important dilemma concerning our lives. Considering this, I think it is beautifully done.

What I think hurts Vane the most is that it is surreal in nature, meaning that advancing the plot will sometimes require unconventional solutions, while at the same time it prefers to let you observe and think instead of providing plain guidance. Through that consideration, and surreal lens, experience gains weight and becomes more impactful. I love games that do this, but understand why some don't. Another commonly voiced criticism is that camera at times obstructs your view and controls can in certain situations feel a bit awkward. That's valid. For me, the positives outweigh this by a large margin. Like wonderfully composed and thematically fitting music that dynamically changes as you move through the world, or tasteful choice of colors and harmonious palette that make detailed polygonal surfaces appear both artistic and realistic at same time, while effective use of contrasts between sources of light and shadows elevates the scenery even more, or like interesting mechanics of dynamically reshaping world which I've never encountered before and, above all, the message.

Once all is seen and done, story shapes into a coherent whole. Or so it was for me, what you take away from Vane is left to you.

Is Vane a masterpiece? In my eyes it is.

The only thing worthwhile about this game is the flight at the beginning. The puzzles are frustrating due to poor sign posting and the game being visually muddy, especially half way through. On a technical level, this game tore through my steam deck's battery in less than an hour. I'm not finishing it, I don't think anyone else should either.

Flying is still good, though

Sublime. Le seul jeu qui soit digne de Journey dans la catégorie poétique. C'est ce qu'il est d'ailleurs, un périple, initiatique et psychédélique. Les effets visuels et sonores sont très inspirés et vous bercent dans ce conte sous trip. La musique itou. La jouabilité est un peu sèche au début mais on s'y fait vite

Vane is very unique , memorable experiance, visual treat, but at some point I unfortunately stopped understanding what it wants me to do, goals of every stage are pretty vague, it leads to excessive wandering and fair amount of backtracking, and ultimately it becomes tiresome... although I was very impressed at first, I dont recommend this game.

As others have said - this falls in with Journey, Ico, Inside. Graphics and sound are great, some cludginess with the camera but its forgiven when the atmosphere's so strong.

I never knew what was going on and always felt on the cusp of having no idea where to go next but it kept me going and I loved it.

Артхаус. Дуже дивно. Дуже незвично. Могло б бути гарно, але є як є - крива реалізація, дурнувата камера, невидимі стіни в світі де їх майже нема, але завжди ж там де цього не очікуєш, сюжет провокуючий СПГЗ який так і не вистрілює (повноцінно)

Це такий собі симулятор літання і ходьби з
прив'язаним до нього великим об'ємним пазлом. Пазл не дуже якісний. Ретроспективно загадки логічні. Під час гри я дві третини вгадав, третину вимусив. А ще одну підглянув в неті. Відсутність чітких вказівок грі сильно заважає. Звісно круто, що вона проходиться без жодного маркера і без UI в прицнипі, але те, що я майже завжди знав куди мені бігти не завжди допомагало рґзрозуміти, що треба зробити щоб це стало можливим.

Гра займає 2 години на проходження. Хочете, пробуйте самі. Великих втрат не буде. Але я не можу це рекомендувати друзям.
