i can finally beat up george for liking them young
this game is better for people who are already experienced with arcade style fighting games, but as someone who is garbage at even super smash bros it's 11/10. i had to dock a point for george's dumbass jump and prance because he thinks he's so tough and it pisses me off. but then the +1 point gets added back because i get to beat him up. in conclusion this is the best game in all of history

I'll be straight, the port could be ***slightly better***, and I can confidently say so after playing the PS4/Switch releases (Mapping controllers there is way easier, for one, you get slightly better looking graphics too)
But getting that version, for one, needs a console, two, you need to search for a Japanese product Code in a Kanji-heavy only version, good luck setting up if you can't read the language
BUT
For the price this game sells I can't stop recommending it enough.
I usually gravitate to 3D/Arena style fighters a bit more, but this is arguably in my absolute favorite 2D games, and most likely my favorite tag game ever, it's sincerely amazing, and at the same time downright pathetic towards other "FG Specialized developers" that a Visual Novel maker was able to pull something that is, sincerely, very special, twice
Twice because Umineko as a Visual Novel stands way up there with the likes of Steins;Gate
And this game is so creative in the way it's constructed, it's a tag fighter without infinites, yet a lot of creative space for combos, you are actually forced to use both characters due to how the super-bar system works, meta world mechanics are insanely fun to mess with
It's just an amazing game, and I sincerely recommend it, to every single player interested.
The game proactively also keeps updating its rollback netcode.
I sincerely wished the port was just THAT better compared to what I experienced on the consoles (For locals, mostly, it's just easier to setup)
But the price, even without offers, it's absolutely worth it
A lot of Fighting Game devs wished they could even reach what was pulled here, and I'll be blunt with that statement

i thought i was just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ at the game but then i realized the fps of the game logic doesn't stay at 60 if your monitor is let's say 120 hz so then your game runs at 120 aka double speed
to fix for nvidia just go to the nvidia app and choose Ougon.exe and set it to 60 fps

The game itself has some janky mechanics that haven't aged well but it's honestly an amazing game with a fun concept that's implemented really well if you look past those janky mechanics. Although, kind of a bummer you can't play as Gohda😔

如果不是海猫厨，我也很推荐黄金梦想曲，因为这是一款出色的格斗游戏。如果是海猫厨，那就更推荐了。
题外话，海猫鸣泣之时是我玩过的剧情最顶级的视觉小说，被称为二次元版雷雨，但如果说剧情结构深度这些方面，可以算是Gal界的红楼梦，在日本大量玩家不满打差评（龙7脑子不好使）的情况下海猫依然能在Gal排行榜上名列前茅，有否认海猫推理性的，但还没什么人随便否定其剧情深度，毕竟傻逼现充剧情都看不懂，没耐心推到结局，推到结局就算不满也很少看见全盘否定海猫的

Loveable but janky old fighting game with pretty varying tiers of characters.
The rollback netcode is a bit finicky but functions, and the discord is friendly and i got matches pretty readily despite the small amount of players around.
It's worth a try at least, especially if you've read and like umineko..

《Umineko: Golden Fantasia》（海猫：黄金梦想曲）是同人游戏社团07th Expansion在2010年初的C79上发售的《海猫鸣泣之时》的同世界观的格斗游戏。
[h2] 各版本介绍[/h2]
1. PC ver2.31
全名《黄金梦想曲Cross》，该版本系07th Expansion于Comic Market发售，这个时候是以同人游戏的形式存在（所谓同人，是区别于商业作的意思，如果是说同人/官方的话，那当然是官方），所以日本那边称为同人版。
该版本日本境外本来是玩不了的，不过经过破解，替换主程序，这个限制就被去掉了。
这也是国内联机对战的通用版本。
2. PC Steam ver2.41
该版本系由知名GalGame发行商MangaGamer以英文名《Umineko: Golden Fantasia》发行于Steam，游戏内容与2.31相比没有本质区别，语言上增加了英语，除此之外最大的变动是联机代码从延迟代码变成了回滚代码。回滚代码按理说是更加先进的联网机制，它也确实使得游戏的联机范围从一国之内扩大到了国际层面，不过由于代码不完善也产生了很多问题，比如在不必要回滚的时候回滚，玩家也不能自行调整延迟，所以仅限国内联机的话效果还不如原来的2.31.
该版本为国际联机对战的通用版本。
3. PS & NS ver2.50
随着《海猫鸣泣之时·咲》由EnterGram发行，登录两大主机平台，黄金梦想曲作为特典也登上了新主机的平台。诡异的是至今仍未作为单品独立发售，想入手的话要么买咲，要么从二手市场淘激活码——确实是有很多不打格斗游戏的人在获取特典后转手卖了。该版本相较于2.31和2.41的游戏内容，做了一些平衡性调整，不过调整的结果难称尽善尽美。除此之外倒是没有什么实质性的变动，联机代码甚至和2.31一样是老旧的延迟代码，这也意味着国际对战基本上不太可能。迄今为止只有一场日本EVO的赛事使用了该版本，日常玩家也基本上是日本玩家。
4. PC Steam Community Edition
这个社区版目前只是Steam版的一个分支，由Discord的热心同好玩家Sky Leite制作。早期Sky是自己做一些mod，在与MangaGamer沟通后得到了认可，作为官方提供的一个可选分支。使用方式是Steam库→Umineko: Golden Fantasia右键菜单→属性→测试版→参与测试→community-Community Edition。该版本目前仍在持续更新中，已经优化了手柄的按键设置和与之相应的练习模式选项，未来将为键盘提供同样的功能，顺利的话也会继续新增和优化更多功能，乃至于改良联机代码、优化角色平衡……
以上说的都是现在联机可能用得到的版本
其实还有一个Xbox 360平台上的黄金梦想曲X，当时是由现已倒闭的Alchemist发行，人物比2.31最后一次更新要少3个，有趣的是那里面的朱志香meta必杀穿的是PS3那版校园祭的衣服，而不是魔理沙那一套……
至于更古早的版本，基本不会使用，除了一个1.03由于有一个汉化版值得一提，基本不必赘述了。
[h2] 美术风格[/h2]
因为游戏发售至今已有15年历史，所以画面画质等各个方面都受到了当时机能的限制，而steam的移植版也没有进行素材的重绘便直接搬了上来。即便这样在角色的设计和造型上依旧保留了一定的美感，在游戏的背景风格、角色着装和背景音乐方面略微偏向哥特风，角色不论是在造型还是立绘上都比较还原原作的海猫系列，区别只是前者是解密，而本作是格斗。
[h2] 特殊剧情[/h2]
在剧情方面依旧是保持者打一场推动一点剧情的形式，虽然不多但是作为一款《海猫鸣泣之时》系列的同人格斗游戏来说，一些海猫的彩蛋也在其中值得玩家品味。比如某些角色组合时候会产生一些特殊的对话，而某些角色在战斗前会触发一些特殊的剧情。
[h2] 格斗体验[/h2]
作为格斗游戏本作的打击感十足，针对不同的角色设计出不同的战斗搭配方式和不同的战斗系统，组合起来变化多端，每位角色都拥有自己独特的挑衅技能，非常能够凸显角色性格。本作的战斗是TAG组队战，两人共用三条血，可以换人战斗，玩家可以同时体验不同的战斗风格，也可以利用小空档技巧来躲避攻击。毕竟是一款老游戏了，游戏的UI放在现在来看有些过于简单，而且键鼠优化也一般，感觉应该是给家用机玩家用手柄操作更适合一些。

总之作为一款粉丝向的衍生格斗作品，剧情上较好的继承了《海猫鸣泣之时》系列的风格，而且不可否认本作作为一款格斗游戏也十分合格，可以推荐给喜欢格斗游戏的玩家体验。

角色动作很多，美工可以看出来是真的很在线，语音听起来也很爽，还有单独的小剧情和超级多的同人图，找个懂海猫的朋友一起打还能享受磕cp的快乐（？）乱炖党狂喜，没事就喜欢拿起来和人机打一把，就是在线人数太少了，真的希望有人能和我一起玩

UMINEKO IS LIFEEEE
Umineko Golden Fantasia is a kind of fun, gimmicky fighting game, but it’s pretty easy to tell this was a budget doujin-style project. Probably not the type of game most people would want to play seriously at a competitive level.
I will say, having all the music from the visual novel and some fun character interactions is a nice touch. But ultimately, it’s just okay fan service and not much more than that.
It’s really only worth it for hardcore Umineko fans who at least sort of like 2D fighting games. For anyone else, it’s probably not worth the time.
At least it has rollback.

I'm going to be completely honest, I think this game is great. I play a lot of fighting games but this one genuinely some of the most unique and inventive mechanics I've seen. It's probably not objectively the greatest or most polished game out there but I appreciate for what it is and what it sets out to do.
