This game is a wonderful gift for old-timers. It's unreasonable to compare it to old shooters, but their spirit lives on. This game is definitely more dynamic than UT. It's a pleasant chill-out to play against skilled bots. But sometimes, I won't say it's rare, there are human players—and then it's absolutely delightful. These players are truly good. On the downside, I must say there are occasional freezes, and sometimes, very rarely, you can be kicked out of a match due to technical issues.

"TOXIKK™" is isn't free, it's paywalled with the full content locked behind DLC. Talk about bait and switch... Misleading marketing on a non-free product is abuse of the "free" section of Steam.
[i]TOXIKK™[/i] is a demo for the full game that you have to pay for... so remember, unless you buy the DLC, you don't actually get the full product, making this nothing more than an advertisement.
There's a correct process to publish game demos and advertisements like this on Steam. You can see it in [url=https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/application/demos]Valve's Steamworks Documentation for Demos[/url] but either the "developer" didn't know about that (something they absolutely should before they even touch Steam Direct), or they deliberately and willfully bypassed this process to mislead gamers, for profit. Either is not okay.
This advertisement is for a product that does not even exist yet. The "developer" gave up or just plain didn't bother finishing the thing you're supposed to buy after seeing this advertisement (probably because everyone saw how garbage it was from the quality of this advertisement). This is an advertisement for nothing. It provides zero value to gamers. There is no sign this will ever be a real game.
What do you do in the game? Not much, but if you can find a game, this is just a poor ripoff of Unreal Tournament/Quake III (and apparently uses some assets stolen from Unreal, so that's not cool).
This game is ancient, it's over 10 years old... it's heavily dated and isn't going to give you a remotely contemporary gaming experience... another reason for gamers to be hesitant about adding this to their libraries.
Let's look at the price and what kind of value this actually offers gamers.
There's no initial download price for the demo, but the developer was charging $19 USD for this, and as mentioned the game is NOT free, you have to unlock the paywall DLC for real money so you can play properly. That is, you have to pay cash money then hope you can find a game.
Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who showed enough questionable judgement to pay money for this... nobody got refunded.
As an advertisement, this is only free in the same way that adverts on Youtube and banner ads in your browser are. This is a game demo that's been dumped on Steam to advertise another Steam store page in the hopes of raking in some cash. Just because advertisements are free, doesn't mean they're worth your time.
It's important to understand there's a formal process to create a demo/page for a game which hasn't been followed here:

While it might seem like an innocuous mistake, publishing demos and advertisements as if they are full games is misleading and in some ways harmful. This advertisement is taking up marketing space and visibility that would be better made available to a developer that's done the right thing and created a full game. Instead, that visibility is given over to a demo/advert that's been published incorrectly and is polluting the marketplace.
It's unclear if this mistake was made through incompetence or a deliberate intent to mislead gamers. Often developers may choose to incorrectly publish demo/advertisements as separate games as a cheap way to bypass paying Valve for marketing presence on the Steam front page, which may seem clever to them, but it's harmful behaviour and it's not good for gamers.
Advertisements and incorrectly published demos don't add +1 to your game collector count, they aren't full games. It's impossible for me to recommend this incorrectly published advertising spam to gamers, you deserve better than adverts.
It's incredibly ironic they called the game "toxic", because that's exactly how they conducted themselves with this greedy cash grab and abuse of the Steam store.

The developer breached Valve guidelines to tell outright lies. This is NOT free. You have to pay MONEY to unlock the full version.

This is the DLC you have to BUY with your MONEY to "upgrade" the "Free edition" (aka demo, aka advertisement) to the Full game. The developer put this package up on Steam. It certainly wasn't me, it wasn't Iran either. They know what it is.
They just breached Valve guidelines to LIE directly to gamers when the proof they are lying is right there in black and white, on the Steam store.
Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this advertisement for a dead game from a blatantly dishonest developer to anyone.

THe first unreal engine game that feels like Quake 3 Arena. I'm a big Quake 3 Arena Fan back in the day and this game feels like that game. But with a modern twist. Only one thing, here are no other players it's dead like a dodo. But i use i to play some rounds instagib against some bots now and then. It would be nice if there came some other players to shoot.

Since Unreal Tournament (99) was the online game I played most as a child, I'm always on the look out for similar Arena Shooters. Quake 3 Arena was great aswell but I prefered UT and Quake Champions is pretty good but I would rather want one that is closer to UT.
That being said, I'm not entirely sure why I've never really played TOXIKK back when it launched but I guess by the time I did, the player count was already 0. It probably did not help that the game had to compete with Battle Royale games like PUBG & Fortnite, Tactical games like Rainbow Six Siege & Counter Strike, COD (which I guess is an arena shooter?) and Hero shooters like Overwatch & TF2....
Arena Shooters sadly are not really that popular anymore but I do think they will come back at one point.
I really can't tell if Toxikk was any good or not, I can only say that the Free version of the game does not allow you to play with bots and to my knowledge there are not servers for people to play on. Obviously I'm not buying the full version just to play bots.
So even though TOXIKK might have been a great game I can't recommend playing/buying it.
Peak game. Makes me feel like the Doom Slayer in multiplayer (probably because I’m goated at everything I touch, it's like my aura alone lowers enemy morale, it genuinely is unfair to whoever matches against me. I'm pretty sure the devs stopped updating this game specifically because there's no patch that can nerf me.)

Can't usually find any servers.. If once it runs, the game is very playable, looks good and feels just like the real thing (which is UT). But i am not going to buy the full version of a game that doesn't work most of the time.

Just trying to run through bot matches crashes AT LEAST once per round. No online without discord banding and bots are somehow more annoying to fight than real people

Halo Multiplayer with Unreal Engine and 90s lazer tag audio (that is not a joke, a lot of the sounds are exactly the same audio pack as my local lazer tag, which is from the 90s. I worked there, i would know.)
TOXIKK is an arena-style first-person shooter. It is based on fast movement, classic weapons, and skill-based combat, similar to old-school FPS games. There are no classes or abilities, and matches focus on pure shooting and map control.

False advertisement - i don't feel toxic while playing Toxikk.
However, i do feel toxic while playing Quake Champions, while in Toxikk i mostly...chill.
Surprisingly nice.
But it's very hard to get into a server, especially in EU - it mostly just teleport me to US with bad ping, because it probably needs payed version or something..?
I love to play "TOXIKK" all the time 10/10 IGN best game in the world. If you don't know why this is in your library, well, yo ho yo ho.

The movement is slick, the weapons have punchy alternate fire modes, and the maps facilitate the necessary high-speed rocket-and-flak dance. Unfortunately, what it failed to copy was a sufficient player base; its nostalgic purity remains an echo in a deserted online server, leaving the fun largely confined to battling bots who are a poor substitute for the chaos of human opponents.
