My new obsession. I feel like I robbed them by buying this on sale. Probably the best, most flexible house building in any game I've ever played - the closest I can think that comes to it would be Voices of the Void. Many of the minigames and arcade games are actually really enjoyable games that you can sink your teeth into (especially the minigolf, my favorite!). Or just have fun hanging out in the casino and people-watching your fellow degenerate gamblers. Wherever you turn in this game, it's clear that the developers created it with a lot of passion and care.

This looked like a fun one to play but some of the area's where you can go to play whatever game you would like to try out are still rather buggy. One that I tried was the bowling and the game kept glitching on me but then after leaving the area to another location the game itself locked up on me. Retired another play but no luck with a different area to play in and still game locked up on me so I couldn't do anything and had to find other ways to exit out of the game.

they would have a gold mine of a game if they would actually fix the server stability, they would also have a gold mine if they focused on content dumping on the activities most players play, such as minigolf, which i ironically find more intuitive and fun than golf with your friends.

games really aren't as rewarding as they should be in some aspects, good plays deserve better rewards.
it's easier to run horse bets and make millions than it is to make 100 thou on minigolf or kart racing.

other than that, it's incredibly fun in every other aspect.
it's very player driven and it's like VR chat minus some of the cringe (there's still a lot of cornballs here, it's just less prevalent).

every time i launch this game after a "content update" i get my hopes up for a reason to come back to Tower unite, unfortunately to me it still feels like an early access game with very minimal actual content to enjoy.
its such a disappointment now when all the holiday updates boil down to less than a handful of items you can buy with holiday coins and that's it. its a shame because i used to love it as a VRC alternative that i didn't have to set up a headset for. speaking of remember when there was supposed to be a VR update coming soon for Tower? guess thats never happening.
minigames are dated at best barely redeemed by the fact that there's workshop support so thats the only positive from me anymore.

framerate is good, but feels absolutely terrible.
Waited 2 years to try again and it has the exactly the same problems, no graphis hanges is years and just stuck a V1.0 on it .. in australia , terrible ping running in american server just to be able to compete against anyone.

Genuinely one of my favorite games, it's buggy in places and there's not a lot of players online but it's full of charm and getting to spend long nights with my wife and friends just plinking away at the arcade or one of the minigames has been a highlight since Covid. Feels special, like it's our game. Our safe space. Tower is going to always have a special place in my heart, there's really nothing like it.

There's a lot to this game.

I'll simply provide the top points.

1.Arcade: There's dozens of games that are well made and fun. Worth the price point alone.
2. Casino: There's a lot of different things you can play. If you like gambling, this is really satisfying.
3. Minigames: There's a bunch of minigames like bowling, lasertag, golf, cart racing, etc...They're pretty well made.

Other neat things you can do:

Play ROMs. You can play classic systems in the game using emulators.
Buy a house, apartment, condo, or whatever and decorate it however you like.

There's a lot of other stuff to do, but its definitely worth picking up if you enjoy any of the stuff I mentioned.

Really fantastic little time-waster. It makes for a good Saturday friend's night out, giving you and a few pals a few hours of great entertainment. It also has one of the best house editors I've ever seen in a video game, giving you tons of freedom to decorate a condo to your delight.

Minigames are all really fun, though some feel a little repetitive. The racing one isn't quite as in-depth as its obvious inspiration, Mario Kart, and the deathmatch one never has any games running. Other than that, most of them feel original and interesting!

The people are all pretty cool, met a few friends just wandering around in there or playing at the casino. No real complaints about the community, other than it being a little small these days.

My only major complaint is that this game is very clearly built with a vision of at least a few people doing each different things in the hub. Everyone's either doing trivia or playing slots at the casino, with almost nobody doing things like bowling or laser tag. I have NEVER seen anyone doing the Halloween-themed rail shooter ride. If you start a game for the boardwalk carnival games or the bowling or whatever, sometimes you'll get a few stragglers who jump in for the fun of it, so don't be afraid to ask around to see if someone's willing to join you.

Hoping that this game one day gets the resurgence that it deserves. It's got so many memories for me, and I always worry about what happens if the money runs out and they have to shut down the lobby servers.

Ich wollte eigentlich nur kurz Minigolf spielen.
Ein paar Stunden später hatte ich mehrere Minispiele ausprobiert, mir eine Wohnung gekauft und im Casino eine ordentliche Menge Units verloren. Willkommen in Tower Unite.

Schon nach den ersten Minuten in der Plaza merkt man, dass dieses Spiel etwas anders ist. Während ich mich umschaue, fährt ein Spieler mit einem ferngesteuerten Auto herum, ein anderer rennt mit einer Waffe durch die Gegend, weil er gerade ein Minigame testet. Da wird schnell klar: Das hier ist kein gewöhnliches Social Spiel.

Tower Unite ist im Grunde ein großer sozialer Hub. Die Plaza dient als zentraler Treffpunkt, von dem aus man verschiedene Spielwelten betreten kann. Dazu gehören unter anderem Minigolf, Ball Race, Zombie Massacre, Virus, Little Crusaders oder auch ein Kart Racing Modus.
In diesen Modi verdient man Units.
Mit Units kauft man Tokens.
Und mit Tokens kann man anschließend die Arcade Automaten im Hub spielen.

Dieses System sorgt dafür, dass man ständig zwischen den Spielmodi und der Arcade wechselt. Gerade am Anfang funktioniert dieser Kreislauf ziemlich gut und man denkt schnell: Eine Runde geht noch.

Ein großer Bestandteil des Spiels ist die Individualisierung. Man kann sich eine eigene Wohnung kaufen und komplett selbst gestalten. Mit Möbeln, Fernsehern, Konsolen, Haustieren und allerlei Dekoration. Manche Spieler bauen dort wirklich beeindruckende Räume.
Auch der Steam Workshop ist integriert. Dort kann man Inhalte herunterladen, zum Beispiel Charaktere oder Fahrzeuge für bestimmte Spielmodi.

Soweit klingt das alles erstmal ziemlich cool.

Leider merkt man dem Spiel aber an vielen Stellen deutlich an, wie alt es ist. Tower Unite erschien bereits 2016 und hat erst 2025 den Early Access Status verlassen. Für diese lange Entwicklungszeit fühlt sich der Content an manchen Stellen erstaunlich dünn an.

Ein gutes Beispiel ist das Casino. Die Idee macht Spaß und man kann dort viel Zeit verbringen, aber die Auswahl an Slotmaschinen ist sehr klein. Für ein Spiel mit so langer Entwicklungszeit hätte man deutlich mehr erwarten können.

Auch das Glücksrad wirkt fragwürdig. Selbst nach vielen Versuchen scheint der Jackpot praktisch nie erreichbar zu sein. Irgendwann hat man eher das Gefühl, dass die Ergebnisse schon vorher feststehen.

Ein weiteres Problem sind die Ticketbelohnungen in der Arcade. Viele Automaten geben extrem wenige Tickets aus, wodurch es ewig dauert, größere Preise zu erspielen.

Apropos Arcade. Eine Sache fehlt dort komplett, obwohl sie perfekt hineinpassen würde: Pinball. Flipperautomaten gehören eigentlich zu jeder klassischen Arcade Halle. Umso überraschender ist es, dass Tower Unite bis heute keine richtigen Pinball Tische hat.

Auch beim Bingo gibt es ein nerviges Detail. Der Ansager spricht die Zahlen 34 und 44 nahezu identisch aus, was regelmäßig für Verwirrung sorgt.

Leider gibt es beim Bingo noch weitere Probleme. Server stürzen gelegentlich ab und wenn man gerade mitten in einer Runde ist, sind schnell mal 10000 Units weg. Noch ärgerlicher ist ein Fehler, bei dem der Server manchmal 40000 Units abzieht, obwohl man eigentlich 30000 Units für die letzte Runde bekommen sollte. Das ist mir mehr als einmal passiert.

Dann gibt es noch den virtuellen PC für die Wohnung. Die Idee klingt interessant, in der Praxis funktionieren viele Dinge darauf aber nur, wenn man sich selbst ROMs aus dem Internet besorgt, um Emulatoren zu nutzen.

Und hier wird es problematisch.

Das Herunterladen solcher ROMs ist oft illegal oder bewegt sich zumindest in einer rechtlichen Grauzone. Dass ein Spiel indirekt darauf setzt, dass Spieler sich solche Dateien besorgen, ist keine besonders gute Lösung. Eigene kleine Retro Minispiele wären hier deutlich sinnvoller gewesen.

Ein weiteres Problem betrifft die Wohnungen selbst. Man kann viel Zeit und Units in die Einrichtung investieren, allerdings werden diese Daten nicht über die Steam Cloud gesichert. Wenn man zum Beispiel Windows neu installiert, kann im schlimmsten Fall die komplette Wohnung verschwinden. Genau das ist mir passiert. Mein Condo inklusive Einrichtung war weg, obwohl ich dafür rund 700000 Units ausgegeben hatte.

Dann wären da noch einige Spieler auf den Servern, deren Verhalten teilweise ziemlich unangenehm ist. In einem Social Spiel trifft man natürlich viele unterschiedliche Leute, aber manchmal stößt man auch auf sehr seltsame Charaktere.

Was mich außerdem wirklich nervt, sind Spieler, die scheinbar Bots für Casino Spiele benutzen. Besonders bei Spielen wie Double or Nothing oder Video Poker sieht man immer wieder Accounts, die offensichtlich automatisiert spielen. Das wirkt extrem unfair. Noch frustrierender ist, dass Meldungen darüber scheinbar kaum Konsequenzen haben.

Damit sind wir auch beim Reporting System. Wenn man Spieler melden möchte, muss man oft Videobeweise aufnehmen und diese auf einer externen Seite hochladen. Ganz ehrlich: Das ist unnötig kompliziert.

Andere Social Plattformen bekommen das deutlich besser hin. Selbst VRChat hat ein wesentlich einfacheres Meldesystem, bei dem man Spieler direkt im Spiel melden kann.

Auch die Steam Shopseite ist etwas irreführend. Dort wird Einzelspieler angegeben, obwohl man zwingend eine Internetverbindung braucht und aktuell keine komplett privaten Server hosten kann.

Eine offizielle deutsche Übersetzung fehlt ebenfalls komplett. Für ein Spiel, das stark von seiner Community lebt, wäre das eigentlich längst überfällig gewesen.

Dazu kommt noch, dass die aktiven Server teilweise recht leer sind. Viele Aktivitäten machen erst wirklich Spaß, wenn mehrere Leute teilnehmen.

Und dann kommt noch der Preis dazu.

Tower Unite kostet rund 20 Euro. Für ein Spiel, das seit 2016 existiert und erst 2025 aus dem Early Access gekommen ist, wirkt dieser Preis ehrlich gesagt etwas hoch.

Mittlerweile habe ich rund 88 Spielstunden in Tower Unite verbracht. Ich habe dem Spiel also wirklich genug Zeit gegeben, um mir ein klares Bild zu machen. Trotz einiger unterhaltsamer Momente überwiegen für mich am Ende die Frustmomente.

Fazit

Tower Unite hat eine interessante Grundidee. Ein sozialer Hub mit Minigames, Arcade Halle, Casino und frei gestaltbarer Wohnung kann durchaus unterhaltsam sein.

Trotzdem merkt man dem Spiel sein Alter und die lange Entwicklungszeit deutlich an. Einige Systeme wirken unnötig kompliziert und an vielen Stellen hätte man nach so vielen Jahren einfach mehr erwarten können.

Aus diesen Gründen kann ich Tower Unite aktuell leider nicht empfehlen.

It's not bad, but I can't say it's good. I haven't played this game since it was in early access (I got the spray, hardhat and plush for it); Returning just today actually cause I was bored only to find that barely anything has changed. I mean I kinda expected different variations of the plaza, islands or something but it's the same old plaza I first saw 3 yrs ago. player count wise, it's barren, only one packed server, almost no one in the EU, and 0 in Oceania (Yes it is the middle of the work week) but it feels strange and disappointing for a game borne from Gmod tower. I do feel that what caused Gmod tower to fall in 2016 may be around the corner for this game.

I wouldn't be surprised if this game gets featured in Redlyne's "visiting dead games" series in the future. Also since I saw it in early access, in certain rooms in condos or places of residence, the sun is leaking, still

When PlayStation Home shut down in 2015, it killed a part of me that's been missing ever since. This game is the first thing that has managed to fill that void, and it brings me a blissfull nostalgia I can't get anywhere else. It has earned an immediate space in my top 5.

I may only have ~5 hours at the time of writing this review, but I know one day I'll look back at this review and smile, because there is no doubt in my mind I'll be dumping hundreds of hours into this.

If you're looking for a social hub, or you miss PS Home, buy this game. You won't regret it at all.

For what it is, it's a surprisingly solid experience. I imagine if you've been here from the start, you'd have a lot more qualms with its general lack of polish, but if you're just coming in, it can be a pretty good hangout for you and your friends, albeit one that does feel notably unfinished.

It doesn't matter how long its been, we always come back to this game. A crowd favorite amongst friends. Endless activities to do together. We have hosted birthday game nights on here, holidays, the list goes on. Its the best "in between" game when you just finished a long playthrough and aren't sure what to play next, or when nothing else sounds good. Absolutely worth the $20. Yes and no. This game has pretty much everything minigame and casino based you could ask for. The arcade and casino are fleshed out. There's dozens of games in the arcade alone, and multiple slots types if that's your thing to go for. There's fishing, bowling, minigolf, a mario kart clone game, monkey ball clone, shooter games, and more. Every 10 minutes a new minigame event starts in a specific circular minigame zone on the map, so even more minigames on top of your minigames. The condo decoration is bar none one of the most if not the most freedom providing I've ever seen, if you like decorating. There's horse racing, blackjack, poker (5 card hold and texas hold em), an entire outdoor mall of shops to buy things in.

There's even a boardwalk fairground with a rideable roller coaster and ferris wheel (free, repeatable) and several more minigames you won't find at the arcade or casino.

Achievements upon achievements upon achievements. Over 600 of them! Ranks for certain things (spending time in the casino, playing minigolf, bowling, fishing, etc etc) that reward you at each milestone individually. There's a rank icon next to your name while you're playing in certain areas or doing certain things, related to said activity ranks. There's even hidden items to find around the map apparently, and a metal detector minigame that uniquely takes place only on the beach.

Yes, I put 102.6 hours into this game in just over a week. That is WHY I say yes AND no. If you're the type to log in for a couple hours a day, at most, OR if you're someone with lots of free time but friends to play with or you're social enough to entice others online to do something with you, this game has it all and is fantastic. However, if you're a solo player who just feels like a kid in a candy store at first while playing this game, take caution. You could burn out and become bored because after a certain point, the remaining several HUNDRED achievements become difficult to get and feel pointless anyways. After you've played every arcade game at least once, every casino game, figured out the optimization for earning units (the in game currency) or tickets at the arcade, there's....not much left. It just doesn't feel purposeful.

It's a playground. A massive, adult playground. And it's FANTASTIC at that for what it is. But if you can't pace yourself, I can't recommend it. I can though if you don't care that you might binge it for a few weeks or a month or so and then stop playing, or again if you have others to play with. Some games require 2 players, for example, and more than just a handful, including a couple games in the arcade I think, and achievements that require winning such multiplayer matches. Keep this in mind if you're thinking about 100%ing this game.

P.S. You can turn off all chat, local voice chat, etc if you want and ignore the populace entirely. Most servers are dead each day, there's usually just one populated server and I've seen it anywhere from 20-40something players on average each day, exception being the weekend when the entire 64 cap populace arrives. If you're prudish or otherwise inclined away from seeing strange avatars and such, I'd also advise against this title, unless you go to an unpopulated 0-1 player online server and play truly alone.

Goated game but they need to stop banning avatars that exist in other family friendly games and have been on the workshop for years and instead let Steam do the moderation of the workshop content. You could fix lots of small bugs, like webms, if ya'll weren't dedicating resources to this and would just let Steam do the moderation.

Tower Unite is a really good game with so much to do to keep you hooked, you can hangout with friends and play tons of games together. This is a true social game that I highly recommend for everyone to check out.

Pros:
-Allows for creativity when customizing Condos and profile
-Minigames are so much fun
-Great reward system
-Fun yearly events
Cons:
-The game hub is still unfinished
-There are still some milestone rewards that are missing
-There has been a lack of updates recently

In my opinion this game is great, even though it does have some cons, it's a great game that I hope the Devs will keep pushing to grow. If you like a social based game, then Tower Unite is the game for you.

don't get me wrong this game is fun, but it shouldn't take a game 9 whole years to actually have basic optimization and features like an fps unlocker. even then nowadays its still unoptimized and runs horribly on a high end pc. there's no way it should've taken this long to come out of early access, the developers are lazy couch potatoes and i would not recommend donating to them if they're just gonna be as slow as yanderedev and not getting as much as a bang for your buck for donating or supporting from buying the dlcs. i also don't like how much of a hugbox the community is, and since it's like a hugbox it's very hard to even speak because if you say anything slightly differentiating from an opinion of another person you get exiled by everyone else that plays 24/7. i hope their upcoming game isn't as much of a disappointment as this one was.

Tower unite is overall kinda boring, but its kinda fun too...

The base game is just the same thing over and over again so its fun at first but its not bad, but the condo building is actually REALLY in depth and cool. every condo is different and able to be customized in any possible way, just keep in mind most condos have secret goon rooms if you sniff around hard enough

one of the best games to hang out with friends, like a virtual arcade full of games and activites.

although development is a bit slow and the servers are a little dead, it's still worth it for a private group of friends to play games and decorate houses, or just chill out and watch some videos together.
