~Roses are red,Violets are Blue,THPS2~
THPS2 was the first Tony Hawk game I played on my Gameboy Advance. For $2 this game will bring hours of fun memories back, and it looks great! This game is about the only skateboarding game on Steam, and it is pretty cool. It is sad that it will be removed from Steam soon.
If I could sum up this game in one word it would be: Nostalgia.
It may not be the best Pro Skating game there is, and it may be lacking quite a few elements that other games of the genre have (e.g. a character editor, multiplayer mode, graphic configuration settings), BUT it has a special je-ne-sais-quoi that simply makes you want to play it.
I LOVED TonyHawk's Pro Skater 2 for N64, and to my surprise, this HD remake starts with the same levels as that one! I simply cannot explain the satisfaction I felt when I discovered that little detail. Also, there are some tracks that once they start playing, they'll immediately take you back to your old gaming sessions.
Give it a try! It may not be perfect, but it doesn't mean it's not good!
Honestly terrible version of THPS. Game is absolutely infuriating to play because of the atrociously floaty and unresponsive controls, the fact that you have to jam a button to not bail simply because you are falling from too high, and there is no way to correct yourself mid jump, you have to accept bailing. Then there is this maddening force propelling you forwards, making you go insane if you want to slow down, while you careen left and right and spin around trying to not simply go forwards. Special tricks commands are stupid, because you have to let go of the directions, and separately press the 2 directions and the flip/grab button in order for it to come out, the game does not recognize fast motions. I get crappy combos because I am trying to do special tricks, and have to let go of the directions and then slowly manually press left, neutral, right, flip button for the damn trick to come out and not a normal trick. This crappy game makes me think it's a mobile phone version of the game, or a cheap chinese knockoff of THPS. Avoid and purge this garbage.
so long my friend today is your last day
Absolut lieblos zusammengestellter Lizenzschrott.
akože nič moc je to ťažke aa ja som si myslel že to bude taká chillovka
Treal T.V. Rating: You ain't skate dem eights in the parking lot.
THIS GAME IS NOT AS BAD AS EVERYONE SAYS IT IS
Ok its missing a couple of things here and there
yes there are hilarious bugs
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE PORT OVER PROJECT 8 FOR THE LOVE OF GOD
overall score: dreamcast/10
Seeing this game for about a couple of bucks,I figured i had to get it. But after playing this,i was reminded of my time i played this on PS3 and remembered how bad the physics were with the skating. Lack of momentum, the dumb big drop mechanic, and the lack of levels is dissapointing and isnt what I remember about the tony hawk games. But other than that, for a couple of bucks a good time waster to say the least. Knowing that this game will be removed from the marketplace in hours,i really cant reccomend it even if it wasnt leaving.
But one thing still holds true, this is a million times better than that dumpsterfire of a game Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5. Period.
2/10 R.I.P (Railslide In Piece)
Not a bad game if you wanna play for nastalgia. Comparing to the xbox360 version the controls are about the same but response time seems to be off.
Tomy Hank's Pro Skateboarder
It's hard to live up to the nostalgia of the first two Tony Hawk games and this game falls just short.
Pros:
Lots of great music tracks
Some of the best levels from the THPS series
Allows for manuals in levels from the first game (which didn't allow them)
Cons:
No create-a-skater
Physics are a bit different than the originals (not better or worse, mind you, but different)
I do not see the problems the people are saying in the reviews. The games plays just like I remember.
It is NOT even close to perfection of the original but it's still best skate game on steam!
Oh wait! It's NOT even on steam anymore!
Who the ♥♥♥♥ made this?
It's not Skate 3.
Devoid of anything that made the original a classic. This game features clunky controls, a complete and utter lack of speed and the absence of any form of fun whatsoever.
Stick to the original. Get a refund for this if you can. Not even worth it on sale.
I'm pretty disgusted with the community's responses on this game. I want to make something clear right now:

You were never promised create a skater, nor was it ever said it would be a thing.

You were never promised create a park, nor was it ever said it would be a thing.

Just because this game uses the same engine as THPS 5, does not make it inherintly broken.
This is pretty much what every negative review I see here capitalizes on, and they're all stupid.
I've been playing this series since THPS1 came out on the PS1 back in the 90s, while sure this isn't by any means a perfect flawless game, it's not entirely broken and unplayable either. I have only come across a single place in the entire game that actually has a bug that will break the flow of gameplay 100% of the time, and you know what? It's a completely avoidable spot. (Ceiling at the top of the escelators on the mall.)
As for the other two points, if you bought this game under the assumption it had create a skater and create a park, and are pissy that it didn't... Well I'm sorry, but that's honestly your own fault. You cannot blame Activision or the game's developers because you didn't stop to read the game didn't have these features.
Now, as for actually playing the game itself, the physics are not 1:1, but they are very close. This game includes moves new and old from many Tony Hawk games on the ps1-ps2. All controls are still the same (playing with a USB 360 controller, and every combo and move I pulled off translated from the playstation controller effortlessly). The game includes an honest decent amount of maps given the modern trend of including four maps then a DLC.
(And before someone says it, because I know they will, THPS1 had nine levels, this game has seven +4 DLC maps. This is true yes, and I'll give you that much. I'm pretty sure the reasoning is probably something along the lines of Activision or the studio they had to make the game couldn't afford to mass publish the console versions on discs with larger memory storage, so they had to do fewer levels to afford to get the game out the door.)
As far as replayablity goes for this game, it actually has a few characters you can unlock for performing certain tasks (such as 100%'ing the game). Any secret rooms or areas the old maps had are still there and can still be accessed in their traditional way.
To summarize
It's a decent game. It's not as broken as people want you to believe, and isn't half bad.
To those of you who I know still want to tell me this game has issues, ask yourself this: Were the originals on PS1/PS2 bug-free and seamless? I've put probably thousands of hours into this series. If you want to argue that point with me, I can assure you I have a plethora of information to throw at you about issues with the older games.
I wrote my review, then looked at others and saw the poor score. So I've revised my review.
Wow, simply wow. I'm not sure what people were expecting out of this game. But needless to say what you get here is a classic Tony Hawk's game. It's beautifully remastered, if not some slight visual tearing on my rig.
The game has chosen some of the best maps to remake and release. The game plays like a Tony Hawks game, and for those of you who don't know what that is, it's an arcade stlye skateboarding game where you upgrade your character to do ridiculously unrealistic tricks. It was all part of the era and it's a joy to play.
I Love this game. I bought this on the PS3, did countless hours on it, it's a game I just have to have in my collection for the times I simply want to reminisce. I am obscured by nostalgia. I think this game is a credit to the originals and anyone who remembers the original will feel right at home with this copy.
For those of you who haven't played the original, then judge this game with PS1 era standards.
Too bad that you just can't change the controls, anyway 1€ for a classic.
This is and oldschool game that is still really awesome and tottally worth it. It has been given a little bit of an update, but if you have never played the old ones, it may not be for you xD If you have, then you will love all the awesome songs we all loved back then and enjoy this game a ton! I find the controls just fine, but im use to the keybored... some who arnt great with the keybored and are use to the controller might find that easier... lol! I think I said that in a nice way >:) people under 16 ... i dont see them really liking this much... they just wont get it... sad really :/ That is all! :)
Works and plays well. I think its pretty good, despite negative reviews. Nostalgic af.
i never played the origianl but i did play american wasteland and loved it, for $2 this was an ok game
As a THPS fan from the beginning of the franchise, i am rather disapointed in this game. It seems the only "good" thing here are the graphics, certainly not the physics, which change whenever the game likes to (So you are grinding perfectly on that rail? Ok not anymore...and your riding again). Good thing it was cheap, i guess.
meh
Tony Hawk. Skateboarding at it's best
So ein Schrott
Play THUG Pro instead of this piece of ♥♥♥♥
Very nice game, Despite all the negative reviews(that i dont agree with) The maps are well done, The characters are fun to play with. Having played the first Tony Hawks game on the Playstation 1 this game was even more enjoyable for me.
This game is for all those people who actually enjoyed games back in the day, when you had no choice but to have friends over to play a video game. Great game, great soundtrack. Well worth 2$ for the nostalgia. Thanks for the sale!
Bad game. Feels rushed and unfinished.
Took the bait with the removal news. On the plus side I don't think it is ever returning to the store.
It's just not worth it.
As most say, better stay with the originals.
.
Bom tenho nem palavras para descrever...
TRILHA SONORA FODA
Mah boi this is DANK AF, GET IT NOW
Genial!!! Fiel al clásico!!!!
Lo unico que modificaria serían los controles.
I could get into how people who never played thps 1+2 can't really do a good review of this game since its a remake of those two games..
I could get into the fact that it's not a perfect tony hawk game and by far not the best..
I could talk about how i played thps 1234 on ps1 thps 34 on ps2 thps2x on xbox thps 2 on pc thug.. etc etc
I AM going to say this. I just paid 2 dollars to never dust off my old psx or download any copies that are questionable...
I think it's pretty fun
perfect game to chill to and just zone out, I dont even go for objectives all the time, I just like to skate in thps.
2 bucks man..

Nota 10/10.
sluggish controls
weird physics
just play orignal
Dont understand alll the hate maybe everyone trying to play with a keyboard.lol I remember being in high school sitting around the TV with a group of friends trying to beat eachother high score on PS1. Was fun then and still is fun now. well worth the 2 bucks.
Feels like playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, but with no hands, and not in the good way.
I know this game will be gone in a few days but you need to buy it! The many negitive reviews put me off for a long time but this game is a great remake of thps1/2 worth 1.99 usd for sure!!
Good game, so fun! ^_^
Porem me faz lembrar os velhos tempo do ps2 .O saudade daquele tempo ..... mais peguei na promo ai vale c.c pra lembra aquela nostalgia kkk
Bought the game because thps2 is one of the greatest game ever. Found out immediatly that it wasn't thps2, but thps5 with a skin, and a bad one to be fair. The controls are broken, everything is feels dull. This is not the game you want.
DO NOT BUY !!!
Get an emulator and play the original, this is ♥♥♥♥ !!!!!!!

This game is... not great. Honestly though, I don't remember any of the Tony Hawk games being stellar. But it does bring back waves of nostalgia from playing these on the 64 with my friends after school. For $2 it's worth that. I can overlook the clunky controls, lack of proper controller support, lack of multiplayer, etc. Honestly, I doesn't even have the option for V-Sync. But for $2? Go ahead and get it.
Nobody really seems to be putting in a full analysis so I'm going to offer my best bet. I've spent a lot of time playing both this and a legally questionable copy and spent a lot of time analyzing why it just feels off.
I'm going to put this up top though so people know why I'm recommending it. The game definitely feels off, but it really is great to relive the classic levels in a modern game. The gameplay isn't quite the same but it's still possible to chain together some satisfying lines. I generally try to get one hour out of each dollar spent and you can absolutely get over 2 hours out of your $2.
That said, let me introduce how far I am. 5.4 hours at the time of writing. I completed the game using the man, the myth, Rodney Mullen with maxed stats and completed every level on career and the hidden "Pro-jectives" mode. I also have every achievement. Compared to THPS 1 and 2, 5 hours isn't so bad for a playthrough of one character but it's probably closer to 3.5 because of achievement farming.
The single biggest issue (which has a lot that contributes to it. I'm pointing out the two biggest things) with the game is the physics.
I've never played too much THPS 1-3, but a ton of the PS2 era THPS4-THAW, and a bit of Project 8 on the 360. The PS2 games definitely have the best physics, closely following by P8 (and presumably Proving Ground). I understand how it's a remake of THPS 1 and 2, except the physics on the PS1 were very immature and not yet refined. Robomodo made a big mistake by trying to use THPS 1/2 physics in the remake, because not only did they not nail it properly, but what they did copy correctly wasn't that good to begin with.
So what's wrong with the physics?
1. The earlier games have a much floatier feel, which is one of the biggest issues of THPS HD. This is what I'm talking about when I say Robomodo tried copying the bad parts of THPS 1/2. Jump height seems okay, but everything else is slower. Having one thing being the same while everything else being different makes it horrible. Sure, you can make some nice lines, but nothing even close to the extent of the real Tony Hawk games. My max stat Rodney Mullen in THPS HD is about the same speed (if not, possibly a bit slower) than the default character I just loaded up in THUG 2 (default character has 30% in every stat compared to 100% in every stat). Fresh characters in THUG 2 are pretty annoying to deal with, and that makes fresh characters in THPS HD a nightmare.
2. The player abruptly pauses whenever you ollie out of a grind or manual. This has never happened in any Tony Hawk game from the PS1 to the PS3 era, and I'm almost positive it's just a workaround to something that they figured wouldn't be too big of a deal, but it's one of the first things I noticed and honestly is game breaking. It completely destroys the flow and screws up timing. The best part of the Tony Hawk games was the fluid transition in making lines, but stopping in the middle of the grind then continuing makes it even slower and jankier than this game already was. It's definitely unintentional because I've noticed it be a longer pause and more intense on rails with more unusual angles and much more slight but still present on manuals.
There are also animation issues that just make it feel off. The biggest one would definitely be the pop shuvit. At first I thought the issue is the character model kicking their feet out way too far, but I realized the major issue is that the board goes too far, then comes back. It sounds picky, but that's something used in regular animation that people usually don't notice but it causes a very strong bouncy effect. Since it's in here, it makes the animation look super bouncy and adds to the floaty effect of the game that makes it feel so weird. Other animations are also way too slow, most notably at the beginning and ends of them. That causes it so that when you chain several flip tricks together, it feels as if there's a massive gap between them because the animation is still going even though the board is barely moving. Double flips and modifiers would be nice, but I could understand why they left them out since they weren't in the game until like THPS 3 or 4, but speeding up the animations at the ends is much needed.
And then there are some mechanics Robomodo didn't translate properly.
In all of the other games, when you grind or manual and then grind or manual again later, the balance meter resets ever so slightly. It gravitates just the slightest bit towards to center mostly to prevent auto-bails. I never noticed this as a kid but learned it when playing THUG Pro and playing the older games again, it's in every game except for THPSHD. The balance meter stays exactly where you left it, and since the intensity of the meter seems to scale much differently from the real games, that's a recipe for disaster.
Similarly, manuals and nose manuals flip their balance meter. If you're a normal person, you just wiggle the left stick up and down (or mash W and S) which, in turn, produces either a manual or nose manual without any specific intention. On every other game, it's fine because it only changes which end you are allowed to hit while safely landing the manual, but in THPS HD if you have a manual, exit while the balance meter is close to the bottom, then ollie into a nose manual, the balance meter will be close to the top. This is unprecedented and is very screwy, not to mention doesn't really make sense since your body weight would still favor the back. Additionally, it doesn't move the meter until a tiny bit of a second after the balance shows up, so you'll see it towards the bottom then it will jump to the top. If you move up to compensate since you saw it at the bottom, you will definitely bail.
There are also strange collision issues where jumping too high to reach an objective may cause you to hit your head and bail, which is too common and frustrating.
Reposting this from above: The game definitely feels off, but it really is great to relive the classic levels in a modern game. The gameplay isn't quite the same but it's still possible to chain together some satisfying lines. I generally try to get one hour out of each dollar spent and you can absolutely get over 2 hours out of your $2.
BONKERS! Played the old THPS a Lot! and this one fits perfecty fine to me. No its not perfectly in HD and not all physics are 100% accurate, but who gives a damn.. PS1 games where full of bugs as well, it still makes the game, the game... Having a lot of fun with this game for just 2 bucks. Worth it! 8/10
Ya ben beçeremedim ya da hareketler az zıplatıyorum rampa ucunda Ö ye basıyorum tekrar basıyorum 2x oluyo ama aynı hareketi yapıyor hep, sıkıcı buldum ''Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4'' Gibi bişey sanmıstım üzüldüm :/ Steama gelsede korsan indirmek zorunda kalmasak virus felen bulasır can cağzıma
geiles spiel, erweckt kindheitserinnerung.
It's not how you remember it. £1.39 far too much for this.
After reading a lot of the reviews on here, I was hesitant about buying this game - but, my stubborness took over and I bought it anyway. After installing it and playing it for half an hour at 13fps, I had no idea why everything was so negative. Honestly, it isn't that bad. Now, the only Tony Hawk games I'd played up until this point were Underground 1 & 2, and I've played them a lot. This, in comparison, wasn't that bad. I was playing it at a somewhat bareable framerate on an old laptop, the controls weren't particularly intuative but once I learned them, it wasn't difficult (playing with a keyboard). The graphics aren't great, but who cares? It looks just as good as it would've on a PS2 (more or less). My half an hour of playing Free Skate in Warehouse as Rodney Mullen uncovered one bug, I sank through the floor when I fell of my board. So, buy it. It's cheap, it's worth the £1.50.
Not the best game ever, but it isn't appauling.
+ Trilha Sonora
Why is this the only skating game on steam
It seriously does not have multiplayer )= works great with the steam link but needs the good old 2 player games, horse, graffti...
8/10
Pretty boring game but still enjoyable
Nota 5/10
por pena
what a cash grab. not saying this because i dislike HD remasters (i actually do like 'em), but because this doesn't play nor feel like any old tony hawk game. it's like they gave the license and assets to random UE4-beginners and not doing any quality control afterwards.
also: you often start grinding in the object, and then get elevated to the actual object you wanna grind on
Overall it feels like the original(s)! It's a good thing.
At first I had problem with the controllers (neither my Xbox ONE pad or PS4 pad was working). This is a game you shouldn't play with a Keyboard, you can ofcourse but doing it with a controller makes it a lot more fun.
I tried rebooting, emulate it into Xbox360 controllers, but nothing was helping.
And then I found "Controller Setup" in Steam, and when this was activated it worked with everything!
You havn't got everything in terms of levels to choose from but Im not missing anything really. You get cash for completing missions in the levels and this can be used both to upgrade your skater or buy a new board.
The loading screen lets me know that if a pass all missions on all levels with the same skater I get something special. This gets me going anyway!
So yeah, I highly recommend this at it's current and final price of 2$ even 15$ would be fine for me
Even for $2 it's very much EHHHH. It's just a bad game. And it really shows that these devs worked on THPS 5, the physics in this seem goat simulator esque. The only positive I can really give here is the music.
The only reason I'm not refunding this is because it's pretty much the only skateboarding game on Steam.
i like tony hawk games but if the actual 90s version is better than this, than you're in a world of hurt.
decent, but is missing a couple of small things which made this game excellent.
meh 5.9/10
plain trash...
1/10 IGN
Orignial Tony Hawk´s Pro Skater - Feeling!
Not as bad as people say-
The controls and physics aren't as tight and crisp as the original games, but overall it is still a pretty good experience. Once I got used to it I was able to pretty consistently string together some high combos.
In general it is really cool to have some classic Tony Hawk gamemodes available on Steam, and while this isn't perfect it is still pretty good and I couldn't pass it up for $1.99 while it was on sale.
I still own some of the older games' physical copies, but I like having this on PC.
Let's get this straight, its a HALF BAKED REMASTER (more remake than remaster tbh) of the original Tony Hawkr. The LACK OF CONTENT going from skaters and soundtrack to multiplayer, IMO, makes this game worse than the original Tony Hawk. None the less, it's at a pricetag of 1.99 so you can't go wrong. And for me, its a good option to play casually without having to download emulators or use any other device.
Cons:
- Lack of content (but still you can invest many many hours in it)
- The physics are a little bit.. emm.. crazy. (Sometimes you end flying like 5 store building after takin a slam)
- Poor graphical settings.
Pros:
- Fairly discounted atm.
- Lots of nostalgia. You gonna enjoy it if you are a fan of the original saga.
- A nice option to play this kind of games in PC without emulating
I'm afraid I have to recommend it.
The game is a shallow shell of what it was and there are a handful of new issues with the biggest being lack of multiplay. I only recommend on nostalgia. Below is my reason for recommending.
Back when I was 15 or so we were playing THPS. I didn't own a Playstation at the time so I always lost because I didn't get the chance to learn it on my own. Later I was 16-17 and THPS 2 came out. At that time I had already bought myself a Playstation and I grabbed THPS 2 at release. I brought it home, slapped it in, and played. Ran through some story missions and eventually had a friend come over after I felt comfortable with the game. That was when it happened. I was finally good and none of my friends could beat me. For months I got better and their skill improvements never caught up. I caused rage. I made people quit. I felt good.
Now I'm 34 and regularly told I need to stop playing these games.
*sigh*
i dont know why people are complaining about the physics, because its not even a problem. this game is very fun and i could not recommend it more!
As a big fan of THPS I must say: this game sucks.
i dont really write a review but for 1.99 its worth the fun and giggles tho
Technically this is a trip into the past. I remember myself sitting in front of my brothers Playstation 1, playing Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1 and 2 for the first time. Like almost 20 years ago? And I still remember all the little details and secrets in the levels. Now we got a remake with the best levels from THPS 1, 2 and (with the DLC) 3. And it is worth it.
Sure, the gameplay mechanics are old. But this game is supposed to be a HD remake of a almost 20 years old game. NOT to be a new game with the same levels of a 20 years old game...
Big thumbs up, especially for that price.
What to say really! Its probably one of the worst games with HD in it. No local multiplayer and the physics are mental not that its not entertaining to watch a skater launch into the air because of a failed manual but when your actually trying to play its a pain. If your paying more than $1.99 dont bother, if your paying $1.99 dont bother.
At most its a decent port of the first two pro skater games with updated graphics, good music, and decent satisfying gameplay. But at worse its a port with less features like no multiplayer, level creator, or character creator, less levels, less characters, and also some glitches and strange physics at times. For example, grinding on rails feel soft and you dont snap to them which isnt satisfying and feels off. This game will be taken down July 17 and even though ive said negative things about this game i think its actually worth it at the price point it is right now which is $1.99 at this point its a no brainer to pick this game up just for the novelty. I would give this a 6/10 its alright but has much to be desired.
En algo :v
I had no idea this was even on the steam store before I heard about it being removed.
Either way, I grew up with THPS, and well, why not grab it for nostalgia purposes?
I got a bit worried when I saw all the complaints about this game and honestly? They're a bit unwarranted.
The physics issue and clipping is there, but it's not extreme and doesn't affect every run. it can be off putting and frustrating at times however.
Also, don't use a keyboard. holy mother of god. Go with a controller, just trust me. Save yourself some anger.
That said, it's really not that bad. I've been having a lot of fun with it and I'm sad to see it go.
Grab it at it's low price if you're a fan of the series. Or just want a piece of gaming history before it's gone for good.
Before starting this is a neutral calification for me, this game had so much potential to be the definitive version of thps classic in HD, but robomodo ♥♥♥♥ it up somehow.
What really kills this game is:
- The bugs
- The lack of splitscreen
- Keybindings (which i dont mind so much because im used to the default layout of x360 controller, but it wouldnt hurt at least put x360 buttons on ui so you know what trick do what with X button, specially on specials tricks...)
- Lack of maps (i mean, there a ton of maps on each thps 1, 2, 3 but here there are just 7? 10 with dlc)
Gameplay is almost the same as the classics but here the physics is a bit generous (a perfect example of this is doing a "the 900" without upgrading your character, is very easy to do)
All in all i wouldnt pay more than 5 usd, including the dlc for this game, and im assuming you are fan of thps games.
Why do certain sound effects not abide by the sound level I placed the sound at? Breaking objects breaks my ears while I have everything turned super far down.
Outside of that, this is a very weird mish-mash of gameplay features from early Tony Hawk games, combined into an unresponsive mess. It's not worth it, at all. Just play the originals.
Great game, a little different than the old one,, but a nice addition. i really enjoyed this game. im not sure why the bad reviews.
Still better than Pro Skater 5
