You should probably just grind leetcode and get a high paying job. But if you want to just do it for fun, this game is good, but Opus Magnum is better. Still a cool game and deserves a thumbs up anyways.

Somewhat competitive, somewhat parallelizable, pseudo assembler. All-around fun.
Never used all 12 registers when taking Assembly and computer architecture. It was also conceptual as we usually wrote on paper or rarely compiled.

This isn't "immerssive" or "difficult" it's just obtuse.
Anyone who reccomends this game to "learn" assembly language is being actively malicious. It's not good for learning jack diddly squat, because I can't even go back and retrace my steps. I can't even get heads or tails of what's happening. This is like expecting an illiterate monkey to learn how to write shakespeare from scratch by written instructions they need to leave the room to access.
I can't feel accomplished because there's nothing to "learn"- just bumble finding the instructions. It's not a puzzle game- it's a poor excuse for instructions or introductions, and it's not even able to fit to my screen properly. I can't even tell if I've properly reset my progress- If it was ALWAYS this lacking in information outside of the PDF (that I can't use the text search function for. It's all an image only, and for "internal" stuff about the TIS rather than how to actually do what I need) that I need to use steam to open instead of having access to it inside the program itself.
Each time I come back to this piece of junk my hatred for this game, the people who recomended it grow, and zachatronics increasing by an exponentially geometric measure. What was once flat frustration is multi-layered disgust with whoever thought THIS would help people do anything but resent computation at it's basic layer. The education system angered me less than this does.
Heck, I've grown to resent people making reviews on steam. So many of you operate on layers of irony it makes telling if a game is actually good or bad impossible at this point. I'm going back to DSP or factorio- maybe try out hacknet. Anything that doesn't make me actively resent humanity's technological progress and distracts from our growing cultural stagnation and psychological decay.

TIS-100 is the rare game that makes you feel simultaneously like a genius and a complete idiot — sometimes within the same five minutes. As someone who's dabbled in higher-level programming, stripping everything down to a handful of assembly-like instructions and a tiny 15-line limit per node is genuinely humbling, but that's exactly what makes solving each puzzle so rewarding. The moment your spaghetti-coded, barely-coherent solution finally passes all three test cases is a dopamine hit unlike anything else. That said, if you're not already the kind of person who finds debugging relaxing or enjoys staring at a black screen with white text for hours, this probably isn't for you — and that's fine, it knows exactly what it is. Print out the manual, grab some paper for pseudocode, and prepare to have your brain quietly rearranged.
たまに競技プログラミングの解説を見たりする程度で、自分はプログラミングには詳しくない(BASICなら本当にちょっとだけ分かるけど出来ない)し、そもそも文系畑でイプシロン-デルタ論法って難し過ぎないか？ レベルの人だと前提を置きます。そのためレビューの角度が90度ぐらい違います。
結論から言うと低級言語の不自由さを知った気分になれました。いやぁ難しいですね……感情を言葉に表せれないことと同じで、語彙の不足を痛いほど感じるのがこのゲームです。
我々は文法の順番さえ入れ替えても相手に感情を伝達できる非常に便利な自然言語を扱えますが、この言語はたったの13個ですよ！ 何も伝えられません。
曖昧さというものに何度救われたのでしょうか？ 厳格なルールというものは時として不和を生みます。
ルールに則ったやり方というものもまた同じことで、様々なスポーツにおいても一定の軽度なルール違反には慣習も含め許容されますが、ことコンピュータにおきましては人間の曖昧さが許されません。
許さないということも、心因的なものではなく実際に行えないものなので仕方がないのですが……私が述べたいこととはつまり定義の強固さなのです。連続した物の中で無限の誤差を許容できるアナログと、一つの数として切り離すデジタルの違いとも言えます。
その厳格さがコンピュータひいては自然科学においては重要なのでしょうが、前述の通り13個しか使えないのです。しかも行数に限りがあるのが故に不格好で非効率的なものも作りにくいのがとても大変なことで……と言いますかifだけでもあればどれだけ楽できたことかと思います。繰り返しはあるのに……
ですが、だからこそ楽しいゲームです。乱数を持たず固定の結果をもたらす再現性の塊であるからこその面白さというものです。
幾度と実行し推測した結果へと導く楽しさを知っているでしょう？ であるならばこのゲームは真に良きゲームとなるはずです。
とはいってもそういうのが好きなのは理系ばっかだし、文系でも統計使う研究する人か経済学の人だと思うけどね。まぁ文理の境目は時を経る毎に混ざり合っているのでステレオタイプとしての意味合いでしかないです。英語能力が必要なのはストーリーぐらいだし、ガイドも和訳されているから安心安全！ うるせェ！！！ やろう！！！！

максимум 15 строк кода на блок, никаких встроенных операций умножения/деления и боже упаси памяти для хранения значений больше, чем на одно в блоке (закроем глаза на существование стека, который далеко не везде можно использовать)
а ведь придётся на этом считать траекторию движения комаров, износ шин в процессе атаки на время на горе Акаги, рисовать тепловую карту погоды на месяц вперёд и многое другое
интересно, что можно сравнить качество своего кода по сравнению с другими игроками по трём пунктам отдельно - по кол-ву использованных блоков кода, по кол-ву строк кода, по кол-ву циклов за которые программа завершает работу
я люблю всякие штуки по оптимизации и выжимания всего из ничего, поэтому мне понравилось. очень сложно конечно
только вот мой совет: когда дойдёте до Сортировщика Последовательностей - бегите. к нему не стоит возвращаться, пока не напишете все остальные программы

Played up until the limit of my ability. I would highly recommend this to anyone with an interest in computer science! It's playable for anyone who has a very base understanding of what assembly code is or how it works, at least for the first few levels. After that it gets to an un-fun level of challenge, but I think someone smarter computer-wise than me will enjoy it greatly. I had a lot of fun getting to grips with the funky architecture.

This game is ridiculously difficult, and takes what I have to assume will amount to dozens of hours for someone with systems programming experience to master. It is also approachable to newbies, with a willingness to learn

Rozumiem, że to ma odwzorowywać bardzo stare procesory, ale wtedy w sumie problem rozwiązywano zgoła inaczej. W tej grze to bardziej sztuczna trudność, naprawdę dodanie więcej instrukcji by znacznie ułatwiło grę.

Amazing little game, only good if you like very constrained programming.
Even as a student of computer engineering, solving these puzzles without any outside help is a significant challenge. The process is quite different from modern programming, especially since the TIS language is inspired by assembly, and the resource-limited, modular node system is also quite unique, possibly inspired by interconnected microcontrollers. But this challenge is what makes it so entertaining. Repairing even one node can be quite a hurdle, but the satisfaction of seeing your code run so pretty and match the expected output makes the time puzzling over the solution even more worth it. Don't be discouraged if you can't solve it by just thinking about it. I've spent much of my time comprehending and planning solutions by writing it out. Overall, its a pretty fun game, especially if you enjoy solving puzzles.

There is much that can be said about TIS-100, its a coding game that professional software engineers spend dozens of hours if not more to complete. It will take significant effort to complete anything beyond the first 5 levels and the challenges only get more difficult from there. Getting every max score on every level is probably a better course on assembly/coding related problem solving then any university can offer. But Ill dumb down the decision on if you should buy this game to a simple question:
Do you like the idea of solving complex problems with a very unique assembly based system?
No: Don't buy the game

Yes: Buy the game, seriously its the price of a happy meal for hundreds of hours of entertaining coding problems.
I bought this game years ago, and just recently remembered I had it. It's pretty fun.
In TIS-100 you write assembly language programs for a fantasy computer architecture in order to solve little puzzle specifications while trying to take into account the inherent parallelism of the machine. The puzzles are very addicting, especially with friend leaderboards, so you end up rewriting your initial solutions at least a couple times each in order to get to the top of the boards in terms of total cycles, total parallel compute units, and total instructions used. I have played around with the specification editor a little, but it basically lets you write your own test specs. There is a small PDF that comes with a description of the computer, all instructions, and shows some example programs. There is also a story aspect you can uncover as you progress. Overall, if you are someone who enjoys puzzles and programming, this is a must-play game.
Fun and challenging puzzles that as an added bonus teach you some of the ideas and challenges of assembler-coding.
If you feel good about yourself and think you're smart, you should play this game :)

This game had me absolutely addicted for about a week. I put it down when I realized I'm supposed to be charging for this. I'm a professional embedded+firmware programmer. A+ career simulation game, it just happened to be simulating my actual career.
ゲームというかプログラミングというか。独自命令セットの計算機が二次元グリッドに並んでいるので、データ通信しながら目的の出力を行うというもの。使った計算ユニットの数とか、命令の長さとか、実行ステップ数とかをできるだけ小さくするやり込みがあるものの、厳密に最適な値が見えるわけではないのがちょっと残念。
一つの計算ユニットに与えられる命令が少ないのと、レジスタ数がとても少ないので、普通にクリアするだけでも結構しんどい。そもそもこの手のゲームを手に取ってみようと思える人（というかプログラミングをエンタメとして楽しめる人）であれば、何も止める理由がないレベルでおすすめできるが、そうでない人にはまったくおすすめできない。
買った人に向けておまけ程度のおすすめポイントを書いておく。コードを何パターンも記憶しておいてくれるので、壊して最適化みたいなことはやりやすい。何問かクリアすると次の何問かがまとめて開放される形式なので、これめんどくさいな…と思ったら後回しにできるのもいい。自分は使わなかったけれどブレークポイントとかも設定できるので、サクサクデバッグできるのもいいよね。
惜しいなと思ったのは、ジャンプ用のラベル付けの部分。最初からどの行に飛ぶか全部の行にラベル入れておいてほしかったかなと。
昨今は計算機がどんどん複雑になっているので、こういうコンパクトな命令セットでアセンブリの勉強できるのはいいよね、という意味で教育用途にもおすすめできるかなとは思った。
Good:
- ASM, but different, mainly because space for instructions and registers are so limited.
- I know the aesthetic is not all that, but it hits all the right spots for me.
- Reading the documentation was fun.
- Having an overarching mystery is a fun twist.
Cons:
- A bit anticlimactic.
- Lost interest in the post-game, but I don't think that really detracts from the experience.
Decent game, but this has no reason to be running at 11FPS even on a low end PC.
Programmed by indians. Not recommended.

It's a real challenge the write code in the limited number of lines and with the limited instruction set... and this is a good thing. You really have to think through how to perform the requested actions.
And then there are also some side quests, like getting the achievements by creatingthe solution in a certain way.
