This game is ultimately enjoyable but it has a few minor issues and 2 major issues...

The first major issue is that the voice actors have pretty thick accents and it's hard to understand what's being said half the time. The story isn't that complicated but with most of it being delivered by comms chatter and audio cassette recordings, it can be confusing just because you can't understand half of it. There is a lot of text lore in the journal that can keep you informed, if you're interested, but if you don't read it, you might be lost.

The other major issue is that this game doesn't really get good until the latter half. The first half of the game is rather dull with large driving sections that are empty, combat that's literally just a shooting gallery of like 4 enemies that don't move and just a whole lot of nothing interesting. You'll be asking yourself why the level design is so boring, why the combat is so simplistic, why they don't add this or that to make things more interesting, etc. But the second half of the game fixes all those issues. The level design is more interesting, the combat encounters are more dynamic (they're still not amazing but a marked improvement over the first half), new enemy types are added, new movement options are added, even the driving sections (which are numerous throughout the game) get a bit more interesting. This game takes a lot of patience at the start but it does get better.

One thing that the game does great, though, is the movement and item grabbing. The Half-Life: Alyx-style item grabbing is smoother than HLA and the web-slinging is mostly great. The one minor issue is that once you start retracting, there's no way to un-retract and start swinging so you can destroy your momentum if you aren't careful but it's still pretty smooth and fun.

Overall, this game is a mixed bag and it saves all it's best stuff for the second half of the game. With it being about 12 hours long, that means you have to invest about 6 hours before it really starts getting good so it's one of those games that's hard to recommend to just anyone. You need some patience to get through the dull beginning but it's worth it.
