THIS IS NOT A VIDEO GAME. IT'S A CARTOON SHOW.
This isn't so much a game as it is an animated Choose Your Own Adventure comic book. After a good few hours of 'play' I realised that as far as I can tell there is no character control. You just watch the show until you pick a path on the branching storyline, with consequences that seem to gleefully subvert your expectation, making your 'choices' little more useful than random chance. This doesn't seem to be about solving puzzles or succeeding at an objective, it's just watching a cartoon where you sometimes get to select a random option on the screen that may or may not be related to what you thought it meant. It's the Tinder of adventure games.

There is no skill, barely any interactivity and your decisions are effectively random, meaning all this is is a cartoon where every 5-10 minutes there's a popup to ask if you're still watching.

Medio pelo el juego, quizás jugarlo hoy día se siente muy lento en muchas partes, como todo juego de Telltale tiene pura charla, algún que otro intento de giro de rosca y presentar algo sorpresivo, y termina siendo uno más del montón, busca que generes cierta afinidad con los personajes, [spoiler] para después matarlos, por ejemplo [/spoiler], o despegarlos de la main story, y este en particular tiene el ultimo capitulo demasiado fantasioso, y descolocado a lo que venias haciendo; es como si viniera contándote algo, se les acabo las ideas, y para terminarlo te meten dentro de un ovni, un paralelismo así, un sin sentido como cierre.
Y como no me jugué Borderlands 2 y Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, que son de donde vienen los personajes, como que mehhh… no me sabia el lore anterior, por un lado mejor, así tuve alguna sorpresa en cuanto a “quien carajos es este?”, si bien me spoilee ambos juegos que algún día jugaré, ni idea cuando, solo juegue le 1, me gusto, y me pareció eternamente largo al doping, asique nunca seguí la saga.
El otro tema, es que no haces casi nada, solo apretar unos botones cada tanto, y como que al comienzo no molesta, pero desde mitad del juego en adelante, estas como "cuando se termina esta bos.ta?"

Si jugaste algún juego de Telltale, ya sabes como viene la onda, es una especie de cinematográficas con opciones en las respuestas, donde dependiendo de qué elijas vas a ver un cartel de “Personaje X va a recordar esto”, y se supone que algunas cosas cambian de acuerdo a que tanto apego o desapego terminas generando entre los personajes, si tiene algunos cambios, al respecto de personajes puntuales de cara al final del juego, [spoiler] donde no podes optar para que te ayuden aquellos que dejaste morir o mataste. [/spoiler] pero realmente, cambios abruptos onda, contar muchas historias posibles, no genera, altera quienes participan, pero como que se mantiene el mismo hilo.

No puedo sumar mucho mas, los mismos screens de la página de steam de entrada te meten un spoiler, si ya tenes noción de que paso antes a lo que ocurre en esta entrega. Y es lo único importante para este tipo de juegos, no comerte spoilers, ni idea de si eso habrá estado ahí desde el inicio, pero de ser así, me imagino a más de un fan algo enojado, pero conlleva pensar, en realmente hay fans de Borderlands que paguen el precio de Borderlands 4??? Si, hay gente fan de la saga.
Acá aclaro por las moscas, el juego es del 2014, en la página dice fecha de lanzamiento 2021, porque Telltale fue a la quiebra, y hubo todo un temita ahí, muchos de sus juegos ya ni están en la store,
A quien le aclaro esto? Uno nunca sabe, si hay alguien ahí afuera que vivió en un termo los últimos 20 años, o nació hace 20 años y está leyendo esta débil y poco fructífera reseña, es más, no sé si alguien lee esto? Ja!

All in all this is a nice game.
Did you play Borderlands 1,2 ,Ps? You will love the lore additions!
You didn't! Well do! Meanwile this can provide some nice lore in BL, and is an all in all enjoyable adventure.
Why do I not reccomend? because of the Q key abuse. For a pure adventure, you are going to get a lot of frustation if you are not going to press enough Qs. It feels just PLAIN STUPID to make a game where you can procceed depending on your Q-pressing ability out of a FPS franchise. Gods, I can shoot things with a regular FPS commands schema. I did not reallly need a Q-pressing based narrative adventure.
I hate to have to be reloading my game because I could not PRESS Q ENOUGH TIMES per second.

With what is perhaps one of the most entertaining fight scenes for a game that relies on narrative CYOA style adventure this is one epic ride. Totally on par with The wolf among us and a great stand alone for the Borderlands universe. Extremely fun, comedic and upbeat. One of the greatest parts of these games is how little it relies on violence as a solution in your choice pool as well, for the bprderlands universe it's a stark contrast. If you're looking for an epic adventure, memorable characters and an absolutely epic ride you'll remember for a long time - look no further. Telltale has really set the bar high in a niche style of gameplay. If you're apprehensive that it's "like playable cutscenes" it's more like an "interactive Movie" and reminiscent of old Bantam style CYOA books from the 90's. If that doesn't sell you, you can at the very least fall for the appreciation of stellar voice acting, quirky costumes, epic art direction and a great story. "But I like my hat" and "Skin Pizza" will live with me forever. Peeling that face off the mask was just plain yucky in the best way possible. Vivid, Versatile, Volatile and Violent in just the right amounts this is sure to delight borderlands lovers and others alike. Thanks Telltale, I am just playing some of your games that have sat in my Library and seeing them with the appreciation they deserve. Overwhelmingly Positive experience from this purchase.

Calling this a skippable spin-off game just because you can't pew pew at people feels wrong. IMO Gearbox needed to detach themselves from the overdevelopment (let's say) of gameplay and focus more on worldbuilding and writing, with some help from other talented people from the industry.

Also IMO this game is in top 3 of the franchise and I won't even describe why, all arguments are spoilers, just play it, it's 10 hours at most.

Tales from the Borderlands was my next telltale game after playing The Wolf Among Us and both Batman games. Many years ago I had also finished The Walking Dead, which was my first introduction to Telltale’s style. So I already knew what I was getting into: story-focused gameplay, dialogue choices, and emotional moments over complex mechanics.

This was also my first time experiencing the Borderlands universe. I had never played any of the main Borderlands games before, but I ended up really liking the setting. It reminded me of Mad Max, just in a futuristic, space version. It’s chaotic and over-the-top, but also funny and surprisingly emotional at times. The humor mostly lands, and the tone does a good job balancing ridiculous moments with more serious character-driven scenes.

By the end, I was genuinely invested in the characters. That’s where the game stands out. A lot of people praise it for its writing and character development, and I agree. Even side characters become memorable, and the relationships feel meaningful.

At the same time, it’s still a classic Telltale experience, which means your choices don’t massively change the main story. Some of the impact feels more like an illusion of choice. I also didn’t like that there wasn’t a proper summary at the end reviewing all the major decisions I made, which is something I appreciated in other Telltale games.

Overall, I really enjoyed it. Even without prior knowledge of Borderlands, it works well as a standalone story. I’d give it an 8/10 — it’s definitely worth experiencing, especially if you enjoy story-driven games.

honestly, i never got to play any telltale games before they got killed by corporate greed and forced to toss out slop.

i was so happy to see that this one came back to the universe to be enjoyed again, and if you like borderlands, it is honestly such a good game.

this game kind of plays mor like a slightly interactive movie, but it was engaging and fun. the choices kind of make a little bit of difference, but major events will basically always happen exactly as needed.

the characters are great, all of them, most of them are really enjoyable and it is fun to se how it not only left it's mark as a good game, a good borderlands game, and having impact in the newer games that have come out since.

the only really complaint i can give about this game is that, everyone holds their mele weapons backwards, and some weapons are usd wrong, like jackobs guns firing full auto, or maliwan sounding like a generic weapon, outside of one part where it has propre maliwan weapon sounds.

Сюжет прекрасен и за ним очень интересно следить, а вариативность действий придаёт большую симпатию к персонажам и важности самой истории для игрока. Большое количество уместного качественного юмора, который бывает не только в тему и делает характер героев более глубоким, но и важен в определённых моментах. Так же было приятно посмотреть на развитие старых локаций, да и в принципе на развитие старых идей.

Все персонажи прекрасно прописаны, хоть по началу покажется, что фан сервисные герои не важны, но они так же повлияют на историю. Актёры озвучки идеально подходят для своих ролей и их приятно слышать.

Постановка сцен - потрясающая, тоже самое я могу сказать о заставках, которые настраивают на будущее приключение. Есть возможность покупать косметику за деньги, которые собираешь во время прохождения, но рекомендовал бы оставить их на последок. Выборы будут важны в самом конце игры, так сказать, подводят итог в твоём приключении.

"New Tales from the Borderlands" is entirely different story as far as I know, haven't played it myself but I've seen mostly negative reviews of it (it wasn't made by TellTaleGames like this one).

Although lacking almost any kind of real gameplay, this may be the (subjectively) best Borderlands story. With multiple dialogue routes and outcomes to take, it also worth playing through several times, or just watching all of them on youtube. The game is worth your time no matter what route you take.

The storyline was excellent, if you're a Borderlands fan this will be a treat story-wise with a top notch voice actor cast, but expect some gameplay jank. I would say this is a buy if it is on sale. Steam having a strict thumbs up or down kind of sucks, but I will go with thumbs down.

This port does not deserve a thumbs up in my opinion and I had to stop to write down a few things here.
This may be the worst port I've ever played (so far), a total slap in the face of anyone that wants to play this on PC. Whoever did the port should be ashamed.

There aren't any options to change much of anything graphically ingame. Default FPS cap is 60FPS and left me with insane unplayable input lag. Through the Nvidia control panel I was able to set the cap to 120FPS to resolve the input lag....Until it didn't, 2 sessions later the game decided to ignore my settings. I reinstalled the game, reset Nvidia control panel, disabled 2 of my 3 monitors. The only workaround I could get to work is hitting Alt+Enter to run it in windowed mode (not windowed fullscreen, that wouldn't work). For a game with an 11~ hour completion time, I really wasnt interested in spending an hour or two working out what may or may not stick, I will complete it windowed I guess.

Both my Xbox and PS5 controllers worked while plugged in, but not over bluetooth (for me). The PS5 controller did not have a custom control scheme in the game (expect ABXY in place of PS5 shapes), and they also don't align with the dialogue options onscreen layout vs controller layout. To be expected, as it is an older game, but it would be nice to see some backwards support from developers.

Thats fine though, I decided to just use M+KB, not a big deal...Until i used it. Who decided to use WASD for movement, Q & E, arrow buttons, and mouse for the QTE's. Insanity, how did this make it through testing pre-release? How QTE's are implemented here will have you guessing where you should have your right hand at-the-ready. Are you shooting or dodging, next, who knows? It just plain feels really bad.

QTE's of this era just suck in general, and it is pretty universal. I knew this going in, but maybe some other people don't. Just wanted to throw that out there, maybe watch a few youtube video playthroughs of games of this era where QTE's were getting pushed into more and more games. It isn't great.

Audio level's are off in many places, sometimes dialogue, music, environmental sound effects are super loud while others are super quiet.

There are no save points while playing during chapters. Gotta step out for life? Gunna have to re-do the entire chapter, even if you're right at the end.

Did not expect to like this so much. The Gameplay is very basic but like with any TellTale Game the real reason to play is the story and dialogues. This has some of the funniest and also some of the most emotional Moments ive ever seen in a video game.

Edit: This game is really a genuinely great experience with a very well written and engaging storyline. The dialogue is sharp, the pacing is tight, and the humor lands naturally without feeling forced. It has that Guardians of the Galaxy kind of chaotic energy and fast banter, but it still feels unique within the Borderlands universe. The characters are memorable and their chemistry carries both the emotional and comedic moments. I really enjoyed playing it from start to finish and felt invested the whole way through.

Played this after Borderlands 1, 2, and TPS and glad I did. Really enjoyed the story. Only missed one QTE in the whole playthrough and it was right after a checkpoint so it wasn't really punishing. Would've liked a hold option instead of having to mash but otherwise was just fine.

Что в ней потрясает
Персонажи. Они живые. У каждого — свои слабости, юмор и мотивация. Даже второстепенные герои (вроде робота Грузчика или циничного Васкеса) запоминаются и вызывают эмоции.

Юмор. Чёрный, абсурдный, но всегда в тему. Здесь смеются над корпоративными схемами, глупостью бандитов и даже над самой идеей «героизма». При этом шутки не мешают серьёзным моментам.

Выбор и последствия. Ваши решения реально влияют на сюжет: кто выживет, кто уйдёт, какие отношения сложатся. И да — иногда выбор действительно тяжёлый.

Баланс драмы и комедии. Игра умеет резко сменить настроение: только что вы хохотали над очередной выходкой Грузчика, а через пять минут сидите с комком в горле.

Стиль и атмосфера. Сел‑шейдинг в духе Borderlands, но с большей детализацией. Мир выглядит грязным, опасным, но притягательным.

Музыка и озвучка. Саундтрек подчёркивает эмоции, а актёры вкладывают душу в каждую реплику.

Что может не понравиться
Ограниченный геймплей. Это классический квест от Telltale: ходите, собираете предметы, выбираете реплики, жмёте кнопки в QTE. Если ждёте стрельбы или прокачки — будет скучно.

Зависимость от темпа. Кому‑то покажется, что история разворачивается слишком медленно (особенно в середине).

Технические нюансы. На слабых ПК бывают подтормаживания, а анимация иногда «плавает».

Вы сидите в кресле, экран светится, а вы уже не просто игрок — вы участник этой истории. Вот Риз пытается казаться крутым, но всё идёт наперекосяк.
