отличная игра про стелс, гоблач выдаёт смешные панчлайны время от времени, прикольно выглядит. Интересные и завораживающий мир, Акенаш кажется большим, но когда проходишь игру и начинаешь изучать механики, то передвижение становится максимально быстрым, думаю, что игру можно пройти часов за 10, не больше, но я же решил обсосать каждый угол.
И так, по порядку:
плюсы:
- харизматичный гоблач
- честная боёвка (гоблин то мелкий и быстро убить не может дылду на человеке)
- вполне достаточное разнообразие противников в рамках одного города
- графика
- саунд дизайн тоже хорош, шаги и прочая шляпа отчётливо слышны и не закрывают друг друга
- механики со способностями
- сюжет (имхо - мне было интересно, а когда произошел сюжетный поворот я а)(уел)
- отзывчивое управление (играл на геймпаде, не знаю как на К/М)
- вырезал почти каждого в игре про селс ахах
- вариативность путей (по какому бы вы не пошли - всегда придёте к цели)
минусы:
- лютый бек трекинг (вы побываете в одних и тех же локах не 2 и не 3 раза)
- баги противников, когда они не выходят из агрессивной фазы
- пару раз ловил софт лок, но благо помогали загрузки на более раннее время

я считаю, что игра отличная и её стоит пройти хотя бы раз, тем более стоит она копейки

Un de mes jeux préféré.

On joue la créature la plus faible, mais aussi la fourbe et sournoise de cet univers de dark fantasy!
La difficulté "gobelin" est d'ailleurs là, pour vous faire ressentir tout le poids de ce choix de game design!

Le level design est fou! Les niveaux sont trés bien pensé! On sent que le jeu n'a pas eu beaucoup de budget mais tout le projet à été géré avec beaucoup d'intelligence!
C'est un super jeu, à l'ambiance, l'histoire et gameplay super bien réglé!

An interesting stealth game that clearly takes inspiration from Assassin’s Creed, but still manages to bring its own unique touch to the genre.

The story is engaging and well done. I found myself curious the entire playthrough, always wanting to know what happens next.
The controls are generally solid, though there are some aspects that could use improvement. For example, grabbing and hanging onto ledges often feels unreliable or doesn’t work properly at all.
The missions involving the elves were a low point for me, as they just weren’t very fun compared to the rest of the game.
On the technical side, the game ran well on the Steam Deck.

La primera vez que Styx: Master of Shadows pasó delante de mí, mi radar ni pestañeó. Y tampoco puedo decir que fuese una injusticia cósmica: Styx tiene esa clase de aspecto que invita a ignorarlo con la misma naturalidad con la que uno ignora una estantería de juegos de saldo en una tienda moribunda. No imponía, no seducía, no parecía esconder nada especialmente valioso. Otro título de fantasía oscura, otro rostro desagradable, otro candidato a ocupar esa fosa común mental donde acaban los juegos que prometen discretamente y mueren en silencio. Así que lo dejé pasar.

Pero luego llegan las noticias sobre Nacon, las estrecheces de su matriz, ese aroma a contabilidad con respiración asistida que siempre empuja a revisar catálogos ajenos con la curiosidad del buitre ilustrado, y allí estaba Styx otra vez, encaramado entre nombres más ruidosos y bastante menos interesantes. Esta vez sí me paré a mirar: sigilo, fantasía, un protagonista que al menos tiene la decencia de salirse del molde del héroe de mandíbula esculpida, y un precio de derribo coincidiendo con el ruido en torno a una tercera entrega. La típica compra impulsiva que uno justifica diciéndose que por ese dinero tampoco se puede pedir mucho, frase que suele ser la antesala de muchas tragedias y de algún que otro hallazgo decente.

Y Styx, para ser justos, no es un desastre. Tiene incluso algo de hallazgo envenenado. Lo bastante para mantenerte atento, pero no lo suficiente para evitar la mueca. Su gran problema no está en caerse a pedazos, sino en estar construido con una pobreza de ideas que tarda muy poco en quedar al desnudo. Los niveles, en esencia, son una sucesión de laberintos: escenarios con varios caminos, varios desvíos, varios recovecos y una sola verdad al final del trayecto, que no es otra que llegar a la salida. Puedes dar rodeos, buscar algún objetivo secundario, rebuscar entre coleccionables o elegir el camino más retorcido para sentirte más listo que la patrulla de guardias de turno, pero el juego siempre acaba reduciendo todo a la misma operación. Avanza hasta la puerta. Luego repite.

El problema es que esa estructura no solo se repite: se recicla con una alegría casi ofensiva. La historia te hace serpentear por esos escenarios como si estuviera construyendo una travesía compleja, para después obligarte a retroceder por los mismos espacios, como quien te vende un viaje exótico y acaba dándote una vuelta a la manzana por el barrio de siempre. De modo que el cansancio no nace solo de que todos los niveles compartan una filosofía estrecha y monocorde, sino de que además el propio juego reutiliza sus laberintos con una desfachatez muy poco elegante. Lo que al principio puede parecer una red de rutas y posibilidades, al cabo de unas horas revela su verdadera naturaleza: una arquitectura funcional, sí, pero exprimida hasta la monotonía, como si el diseño de niveles hubiera sido concebido por alguien que confundió complejidad con dar vueltas por el mismo sitio con otra excusa narrativa.

Ese agotamiento estructural se agrava todavía más porque el juego te empuja al sigilo no tanto por brillantez de diseño como por puro instinto de supervivencia. Styx quiere que avances oculto, midiendo patrullas, aprovechando sombras y evitando el contacto directo, pero no porque convierta esa fantasía en algo especialmente refinado, sino porque cuando te descubren asoma uno de los sistemas de combate más ingratos que he tenido el dudoso honor de padecer en bastante tiempo. Pelear aquí no tiene garra, ni ritmo, ni sentido del espectáculo, ni siquiera ese placer básico de sentir que el personaje responde con agilidad o mala leche. Todo se reduce a una liturgia torpe y antipática basada en hacer parry hasta que el juego decide, con una condescendencia casi burocrática, que ya puedes asestar la puñalada definitiva. No hay una defensa satisfactoria, no hay una esquiva con verdadero valor, no hay control real de la situación, y desde luego no hay ninguna alegría en verse rodeado por varios enemigos mientras el sistema parece empecinado en comportarse como si solo pudiera gestionar uno a la vez. Los demás, naturalmente, siguen ahí para abrirte en canal mientras tú participas en ese pequeño simulacro de duelo mal diseñado. El combate no es una alternativa al sigilo: es una penalización, una reprimenda, una forma de decirte que te has salido del carril y que ahora toca sufrir. No convence, no persuade, no aporta tensión inteligente. Simplemente fastidia.

Y luego está el movimiento, que es donde el juego termina de delatar hasta qué punto sus ambiciones se quedaron a medio gas. Styx debería ser una criatura escurridiza, casi venenosa en su forma de desplazarse: un goblin trepador, rápido, imprevisible, hecho para colarse por cualquier rendija y deslizarse por el escenario con esa mezcla de suciedad y elegancia que define a los buenos personajes de sigilo. Pero no. Lo que uno encuentra es a un protagonista sorprendentemente rígido, con una movilidad escasa y una agilidad que parece siempre a medio despertar. Salta lo justo, se encarama con poca gracia, se esconde, bordea, trepa de forma funcional y poco más. Y aquí la comparación con Prince of Persia o Assassin’s Creed no le favorece en absoluto, porque esos juegos, siendo incluso anteriores, ya se movían con una soltura insultante al lado de Styx. No hablo solo de mecánicas, sino de animaciones, de transición entre acciones, de esa sensación de continuidad que convierte el desplazamiento en algo natural, casi placentero. En Styx, en cambio, cada acción tiene algo de herramienta roma, de movimiento aceptable pero sin brío, sin danza, sin esa ligereza felina que el personaje pedía a gritos. No hacía falta convertirlo en un príncipe acrobático ni en un asesino renacentista con vocación de gimnasta, pero sí darle algo más de veneno en el cuerpo y bastante menos madera en las articulaciones.

En lo artístico, además, el juego arrastra con resignación varios de los pecados estéticos de su tiempo. Esa paleta general teñida de marrón, esa fantasía de interiores apagados y piedra húmeda, esa fe casi religiosa en los tonos terrosos como si el color fuese un lujo indecente. Los escenarios cumplen sin brillo, los detalles son escasos y los modelos de NPC se repiten con la rapidez de quien intenta llenar un teatro con cuatro figurantes y una iluminación cómplice. No llega a ser un horror visual, ni mucho menos, pero transmite esa sensación tan conocida de producción limitada que logra sostener la ambientación sin conseguir elevarla jamás. Ves lo que hay, entiendes su función, y sigues adelante sin llevarte ninguna imagen clavada en la memoria. Paisaje útil, atmósfera suficiente y poco más.

Lo que sí consigue sujetar el interés con algo más de dignidad es la historia. No porque estemos ante una maravilla de la narrativa fantástica ni ante un monumento al guion, sino porque tiene los suficientes giros y la suficiente mala intención como para mantener viva la curiosidad. Styx, como personaje, termina ofreciendo bastante más de lo que prometía esa primera impresión tan poco halagüeña. Hay una evolución, hay cierta intriga y hay un placer modesto pero real en ver que el juego todavía tiene algo que contar más allá de su premisa de goblin furtivo entre sombras. Dentro de un conjunto tan limitado y tan dado a repetirse, la historia funciona como esa copa decente en una cena mediocre: no arregla el menú, pero ayuda a terminarlo sin arrepentirse de cada bocado.

Lástima que el final vuelva a recordarte las limitaciones del invento con la delicadeza de un ladrillo en la nuca. Porque cuando llega el jefe final, uno espera al menos una culminación, una última prueba, un momento de épica sucia que justifique el trayecto. Y lo que recibe es una clausura tristísima: un par de oleadas de tres enemigos y luego una cinemática que resuelve lo que debería haber sido el verdadero enfrentamiento. Ще в 2014 році я проходив цю гру вперше. Що тоді, що зараз - це класна гра, але з певними недоліками.

Ігролад: це гра з прихованим переміщенням або ж стелз-гра. Завдання потрібно виконувати продумано, тихцем, без підняття тривоги. Звісно, можна і прохожити піднявши тривогу, але тоді буде набагато важче. Напролом як в нових хітменах чи асасинах йти не вийде. Головний персонаж досить вправний з ножем, але поступається суперникам з величезним мечем. Присутні механіки прокачування. Ох і як же я кайфанув від неї. Ніякого величезного дерева прокачування, ніякого перевантаженої системи покращень. Всього 5-6 груп навичок. Дуже ергономічно, все на місці. Вороги доволі тупі, навіть на найвищому рівні складності, але ця хвороба присутня навіть в ,,вилизаних,, іграх сьогодення. Загалом відчувається стара школа ворогів.

Сюжет: класний, неординарний сюжет, за яким дуже цікаво спостерігати. На жаль, я знав про основний переломний момент історії ще з першого проходження, таке важко забути. Звісно деякі деталі втратив, але ядро на місці, таке не забувається. Та незважаючи на це, було цікаво проходити. Загалом світ та персонажі трішки віддаленр нагадують гру Dishonored, але не так сильно пропрацьовані, здаються досить пустими.

Недоліки: повторення рівнів. Вони дуже добре продумані та реалізовані, але після декількох завдань ви потрапляєте в ту ж локацію що до цього, вам лише потрібно пройти її в зворотному порядку або з певними нюансами. Також хотілось більш допрацьовану систему виступів, карнизів, балконів. Хочеться щоб персонаж плавніше та більш доступно міг сходитись за виступи.

Я заходився проходженням цієї гри, провів в ній доволі багато свого часу, оскільки грав на найвищому рівні складності. Також виконав всі додаткові місії, вони доволі цікаві. Збирання колекційних речей - нажаль не осилив. Спершу старався і їх збирати, але надалі зрозумів, що це буде зводитись до того, що потрібно загляджати в кожну шпаринку, а це виснажує.
Рекомендую цю гру, вона не без недоліків, але це стара школа, зараз таких ігор не роблять.

Es un muy buen juego de infiltración y no busca ser mucho más. Un juego para un publico especifico.
Más allá de estar repleto de bugs o que corra el riesgo de volverse repetitivo muy rápido, considero que es un buen juego si te gustan los puzzles o los juegos de sigilo. La historia y el protagonista son lo que más resalta, probablemente más que el juego en si.

Returned player here. This is the first Styx game which was released in 2014, 12 years ago but I always thought it was much earlier. I think many stealth games were made around that time, but not many got sequels and are still alive today. Styx was one of the lucky ones, why him?

I remember it as a fun game: more than one path for stealth, you can remain unnoticed high on the ceiling or low to the ground in tunnels. The maps are layered with several floors, complicated but fun to explore. A lack of story is compensated for by the rich level design, besides you’re a goblin hero. You don’t get to control goblins much in other games it feels new.

I also tried The Lord of the Rings: Gollum last year, surprisingly, it was not as awful as I thought it would be, given the overwhelming negative reviews and the gameplay triggered my memories of playing Styx, as I found many similars: "evil" protagonists, similar stealth and actions, ridiculous map designs and hard fights and I thought their ratings should be similar, but no. Gollum became a punching bag that even at 90% off people still loathe it. I think the main problem isn’t the core gameplay, but the collapse of high expectations after a high selling price, and the mechanics feeling so outdated.

I also tried the latest Styx game and feel sorry about it. Currently has a mixed 66% rating from a total of 551 reviews, which is low in both score and quantity. The biggest problem is that it still feels like the 2014 Styx, or even worse due to glitches, like guards often walk as if their shoulders hit an invisible wall and keep going, so their bodies slide along where the wall goes instead of their legs walks, happens more often when 2 guards are close together. The maps are much bigger but hollow and plain, stealth is harder and routes are longer.

Original was a success, but times have changed. You can’t rely on a success from 12 years ago and expect it to still fit players’ tastes today. Yet it is interesting: sometimes you need innovation to attract people and other times you need to keep the core unchanged. I think over the years Cyanide Studio has failed to balance this, so even though a new Styx game is made it doesn’t thrive and can’t attract attention beyond “Hey I know that game, great childhood memory.” Before Styx, I thought Sonic had failed to attract players until the recent racing game CrossWorlds. I think it’s high time for Cyanide Studio to rebuild their goblin hero if they want him to survive in this fast changing video game industry.

고블린 도둑이 되어 인간 요새를 휘젓고 다니는 잠입 액션 게임. 세계수의 힘으로 떠다니는 공중 요새가 유일한 무대지만 어두운 세계관과 줄거리가 무척 흥미로웠고, 구석구석에서 들을 수 있는 병사들의 잡담을 찾아 듣느라 시간 가는 줄 몰랐습니다. 몸이 작아 탁자 밑이나 좁은 수로로 돌아다닐 수 있고, 분신이나 투명화 마법 등으로 난관을 헤쳐나갈 수도 있지만 편리한 수단일수록 자원을 많이 소모하기 때문에 난이도도 적절한 편입니다.

A pesar de los años que tiene, sigue siendo un juegazo. Es puro sigilo y es bastante difícil, pero de esa dificultad que te engancha. También Styx como personaje es muy bueno, me encanto su humor.

Si te gustan los juegos de sigilo y dificultad progresiva, este es totalmente recomendable.

Мне понравилось, но я не могу порекомендовать эту игру.

Играя ощущается очень сырой. Это совсем не уровень игр 2014 года. Есть какое-то общее ощущение, что многие моменты игры "не дожали", хотя и явно видно, что идеи интересные.

У игры ставка на чистый стелс, но сделано плохо. Боёвка ужасная, из-за этого любая оплошность в скрытности приравнивается к фейлу. Управление кривое, персонаж хватается и залезает туда, куда не нужно, бывает даже по нескольку раз, а отменить в моменте нельзя, возникают ситуации, когда вылезаешь прямо перед носом противника. Отсюда вывод, что игра наказывает строго, но не всегда честно.
ИИ кривой, враги ведут себя глупо, а иногда видят и слышат там, где не должны, а иногда в аналогичных ситуациях всё наоборот.
Альтернативные пути не такие полезные, как хотелось бы, толку от них мало, расстановка противников такая, что на карте нет "чистого" маршрута, карта перегружена врагами.
Много, очень много бэктрекинга (те же карты, но другие миссии).
Способности (прокачка) ощущаются так, будто должны быть изначально, но у меня их забрали и заставляют "выкупать".

Однако, у игры есть интересный герой, хороший концепт и вариативность. Она не столько плохая, сколько недополированная.
История мне очень понравилась, действительно интересная, хотелось узнать чем всё закончится. Повествование тоже очень прикольное, такое не во всех играх есть.
Хочу посмотреть, чем похвастается следующая часть. Эта в целом нормальная, но всё же разочаровала.

If you are looking for a hardcore stealth experience where shadows are your only protection, Styx: Master of Shadows is a masterpiece. You play as a cynical, foul-mouthed goblin in a world where humans and elves want you dead on sight.
The vertical level design is phenomenal. Every mission takes place in massive, multi-layered environments that offer total freedom on how to reach your objective. You can stick to the rafters, crawl through tunnels, or use your unique cloning ability to create deadly distractions.
The game doesn't hold your hand. Combat is intentionally difficult because you aren't supposed to fight—you are supposed to be a ghost. The atmosphere of the Tower of Akenash is dark and immersive, and Styx himself is one of the most entertaining protagonists in the genre.
It’s challenging, atmospheric, and incredibly rewarding. If you love methodical, pure stealth gameplay, this is an absolute must-play. 10/10

Очень хороший сюжет, но я так задолбался умирать, только под конец 2 задания или 3 узнал что можно сохраняться и понизил сложность, но это потому что я анскилл, а вообще лучшая игра про стелс и офигенный сюжет (правда я не понимал флешбеки настоящего, прошлого или будущего было).

A surprisingly decent stealth game, with an unexpectedly decent story. It's not as deep as Dishonored for example, but for the asking price on sales, might as well try it.

I have issues with its technical state - there's no proper 1440p or higher support in windowed mode and there's a 60FPS lock.

The movement is decent, but the auto vaulting/mantling mechanic is really not good, nowhere near as precise as it should be. Seems like there's a missing button to just hang from a ledge or something. Trying to jump down without unexpectedly grabbing and auto climbing a railing is near impossible. Quick save often.

Music is also surprisingly good, but it can be very repetitive during missions, especially early on.

Overall atmosphere is comparable to Dishonored 2, where it's just all kinda depressing and dark in colors. The standout are the embassy levels.

The second half of the game reuses all the maps from the first half, you are just basically going backwards through them. Not sure I really like that, but it kinda sorta maybe serves the narrative, so I'll give it a pass. At least you mostly remember where's what on the second half.

Overall, at 2 euro on sales, if you like stealth games, I can definitely recommend giving this one a try.

Прошел только вступление Styx MofS, видно, что игра сделана с любовью. НО собирать монетки просто духотища, искать как обойти расставленных врагов скучновато. Видно, что уровни сделаны с путями обхода, тайничками, но как-то не очень цепляют. Прошел вступление без тревоги, но просто запарился сейф-лоадом заниматься. Сюжет сразу не зацепил, не знаю как там будет дальше :(

Может я слишком стар для стелс игр? Хотя год назад DeusEx MD не казался такой душной - может там больше сюжета и вариативности потому-что. Думаю в будущем дам второй шанс игре.

Non va bene il sistema di combattimento, credo che sia il peggiore sul mercato. È ok, è un gioco stealth, il combattimento non è il fulcro, ma non è neanche a farlo così di merda Poi i nemici ti vedono alla cazzo di cane ero dietro a un nemico è mi ha visto lo stesso. E sì, l'ho giocato poco, ma il gameplay è lo stesso di Shards of Darkness, quindi non mi aspetto grandi differenze. La grafica, per un gioco del 2014, è carina, direi anche leggera. 6 GB sono pochi, anche per il 2014, quindi tanto di cappello, ma comunque non rimane qualcosa di godibile e divertente.

Как стелс-экшен игра на самом деле крутая. Не без минусов, конечно. При этом выглядит довольно не плохо на текущий год. Конечно второй раз я бы игру проходить не стал. Есть очень много душных моментов и сложных мест, особенно когда у тебя не 0 предметов в карманах и ХП на один удар. Кнопку F5 (быстрый сейв) я советую прожимать в каждый удачный момент. Я за одну миссию её жал наверное больше сотни раз: Убил, спрятался, F5, перебрался в другое укрытие, F5, удачно перепрыгнул препятствие, F5, и т.д.

Но я могу подчеркнуть ОГРОМНЫЙ минус, из-за которого моё прохождение превращалось в сущий ад... Это то, что персонаж не всегда делает, то что хочется. Когда я хочу схватиться за уступ или парапет и повиснуть на нём, то вместо этого он забирается на него, впоследствии чего его замечает стража. Когда я хочу наоборот спрыгнуть вниз причем случайно повисаю на каком-то уступе. Прыжок на врага сверху с целью убить тоже работает паршиво, очень часто вместо убийства врага он как мешок с картошкой падает рядом и поднимает тревогу... короче ужас, но благодаря частым сейвам и 10-ти попыткам сделать так как нужно всё же получается добиться желаемого.

pretty fun stealth game especially on the hardest difficulty. Sometimes it glitches out, and you might get stuck suspended in a falling animation or just stuck in a corner, but happens very rarely. Good game overall, I'm hoping the next installment is more polished.

クリア時間６０時間。ネットで２０時間あればクリアできるって書いてありましたが、下手すぎる私には全然むりな話でした。
ただ濃密な６０時間を過ごさせていただき、感謝しています。
このゲームは誰にも見つからずに進めたり、殺してごり押しで進めたりと色々と楽しみ方があり、とても楽しかったです。ただ難易度は高いので覚悟して挑むことだけ言っておきます。
ですので軽い気持ちのプレイヤーにはオススメできませんが、高い難易度のステルスゲームを望むプレイヤーにはあっていると思います。

Плюсы:

Оригинальный сюжет, не обычная история персонажа.
Касаемо геймплея: даже на самой высокой сложности "Гоблин" игра проходится не сильно потно, сложность лишь добавляет интерес. До этого в подобном жанре играл в MGS Phantom Pain и серию Assasin's Creed, как поклоннику стелс жанра - игра очень зашла.
Графика для тех времён могла быть и получше, но видимо бюджет был не столь объёмный.

Хотелось бы в плюсы отнести вариативность прохождения, не только в плане "тихо мирно по телефону/резня", но и в плане карты. Куча различных ходов "в чёрную", не открывая дверь. Сверху/Снизу/Сбоку

Минусы:

Как мне показалось, проходить одну и ту же локацию (пусть и задом наперед, и с усложнениями, в виде закрытия, открытых ранее проходов и лазеек, и добавления бронированных/сильных противников) всё же не так интересно, как если бы все были разные.
Так же были пару не ловких моментов, когда персонаж не хотел цепляться на "цепляющуюся текстурку", а не просто "крест в стене", на который срабатывает фиксированная анимация.

Не рекомендую категорически. Как выяснилось я прошёл половину игры, и сейчас мне предстоит бектрекинг по этой первой половине.
1) Локации итак довольно копипастные, так ещё и куча унылостей, где тебя душат скучными врагами и их комбинациями.
2) Плохое управление. И ладно бы они просто не всё бы реализовали как надо. Свиснуть с уступа целая проблема, повиснуть на нём так же целая проблема. И ведь есть же уже каноны жанры в виде сплинтер села и Асассинов.
3) Довольно не интересный мир пусть возможно это и вкусовщина.
4) Ты играешь не за гоблина. В плане создателей, они могут представлять его как захотят, но по факту ты играешь не за гоблина. Это просто человек, который выглядит как гоблин и пытается с насмешкой или надменно подмечать те или иные вещи.При этом у него нет никаких особенной речевых, можно было бы подумать что это говорит обычный человек (или они не ярко выражены)
5) Самое важное для меня, играть не в кайф. Ты не получаешь какого-то чувства крутости и доминирования при том что ты заведомо слабее всех вокруг. Есть масса посредственных игр где это чувство есть, банальный Трайбс Венженс и стелс миссии в нём.

I had bought this game somewhere around the time of release, or maybe 2015...

I never really played it solidly enough to give a decent review. I still haven't beaten it yet, but I'm on my way. I'm not really a fan of stealth games, but I like the premise of playing a goblin for this game. It kinda makes sense for the world in the game. And I like his design and overall art style.

I'd say overall it's a good game for someone like me who doesn't care for the intricate bs the likes of Hitman or Splinter Cell try to achieve. At first learning the game's patterns and enemy types is a little wonky. The AI is a bit inconsistent -- sometimes if you reload a save, someone you've found behaved one way *might* behave in a different manner after the re-load. Things like that might be a little frustrating for someone like me who doesn't particularly care for stealth games. But everything is kind of simple and accessible enough for me to enjoy what the game has to offer. It doesn't get too wild. But there are times where the enemies will change script depending on if you walk over a trigger or a certain enemy is offed. A few times where you'd swear an enemy leaned on a railing for eternity you'll try to sneak up and silently kill them, they turn right around to face you -- one of the many annoyances I've always found with stealth games. I've always found stealth titles always play like they don't know where you're at, but they do and change the AI accordingly. This game doesn't entirely do that, but like I said, it's more trigger-based and a learning routine.

The visuals fit well for when it was released. If you really care that much, the story is generally presented in painted stills. Artwork and character designs have great detail, but still have stylized exaggeration. Lip syncing for dialogue in-engine don't match, but easily overlooked. In-game world is a little samey, with assets copied and pasted like shimmy ledges or the black iron wall girders you can hang off of and jump up walls, but the general architecture is intricate, and there are stages with some greenery and plants to break up some of the castle-themed levels.

Though as a stealth novice, I definitely don't regret the purchase. Though it might seem to be babby's first stealth, there's still a good chunk for challenge. Like finding coins, and doing various side tasks for more skill points to be spent on... SKILLS... or finding a relic per zone. And insignias you can earn per mission/zone from no alerts, no kills and so on.

It's fun, but it's not entirely deep. I don't think the stealth connoisseurs should really hate on Styx. I do see a few in the reviews that are writing novels and sipping wine like they're writing a Yelp review, on why this game sucks. It doesn't suck. It's just not as DEEP as other big stealth titles. And for the time when this dev was a bit smaller, the level size, writing and art directions showed bit of ambition, I think. I almost can't wait to beat this to move onto the sequels I hadn't known about until recently.

Lastly to note, this game is very glitchy. There are times I'll be in cover, and pass around a corner, with the button prompt, as you do, and glitch out and get stuck. So that's kinda a damper.

Though the story was a bit sparse and I often asked myself what I'm doing, there were a few good twists to things. You really become Styx. If you like stealth games, give this one a try. It's a little janky but a lot of fun.

me encanta el juego todo sigilo y buenas mecanicas asta que te das cuenta que es un juego lleno de bugs, no te dejes llevar por la dificultad solo esta ahi por de adornono en facil vaz a tener que repetir asta 5 veces y guarda cada que mates a un enemigo(tip), aveces puedes estar a 2 cm de un enemigo a un costado y no te ve y otras estar a su espalda y te ven, me a pasado que las acciones estan desincronizadas, tambien e visto como los enemigos se teletransportan, un simple salto aveces por obra del señor no llegas, y en otras ocasiones respawneas callendo a la nada, toma buenas deciciones por que si te falta un cuchillo hay zonas donde no vaz a poder pasar y vaz a tener que repetir todo el nivel si no guardaste.

I played this game originally on console and I was a big fan. It's really hard to find pure stealth games nowadays, either it's a stealth game with other genres shoe-horned in, or it's another genre with stealth shoe-horned in. Both can work if the shoe-horned genre is done well, but more times than not the stealth either hurts the other genre game or the other genre hurts the stealth game.
Styx, on the other hand, is a pure stealth. Sure you [i]can[/i] kill npcs in combat, but your chances of succeeding is fairly slim. Styx is a fairly squishy goblin who relies on his kills to be from the shadows, and that's where this game shines. It's pretty janky, but it does stealth really good and shines in what stealth games really are at the end of the day - complex puzzles.
You probably won't like this game unless you're a huge stealth fanatic such as me, but if you do like stealth and miss games like Thief that relish in purely using the mechanic of staying undetected, you'll really enjoy this game.

Ho iniziato a giocare a Styx solo di recente (con enorme ritardo, dato che si tratta di un gioco del 2014).
La Cyanide spesso realizza giochi "interessanti ma strapieni di difetti", e Styx non fa eccezione.
E' uno stealth game lungo e impegnativo, con una trama interessante, e capace di dare belle soddisfazioni ma anche di irritare fino allo stremo, a causa di una cura sommaria ai singoli elementi:

- i salti hanno esito imprevedibile
- agganciare e appendersi alle sporgenze è un dramma, dato che spesso non "entra in funzione" l'azione tentata
- Il sistema di luci, ombre e coperture è imperfetto (delle volte verrete visti anche al buio totale, altre volte i nemici potranno scoprirvi anche se siete dietro ad ampie coperture, come se tali ripari fossero inconsistenti).
- le singole missioni, divise in atti, sono molto complesse ed eccessivamente lunghe. Non invogliano la rigiocabilità perchè troppo dispersive ed esigenti quanto a tempo di percorrenza
- il sistema di combattimento è nient'altro che orrendo. Ciò sembra grave, ma in realtà non ha molta importanza perchè il game design vi spinge ad evitare lo scontro diretto. E quando succede, vi conviene semplicemente ricaricare un salvataggio (a proposito, conviene salvare spesso!) .

Insomma non è un gioco terribile, anzi per chi ama lo stealth è un'esperienza divertente, ma ha determinati problemi.

It took a while to click. It was quite frustrating starting out, but once I understood what Styx's weaknesses were, I truly felt like a deadly gremlin lurking in the shadows. I played this looking to scratch that Dishonored itch and I got what I came for.
