🚗 Street Racing Syndicate - SRS
Street Racing Syndicate is one of those games that randomly ends up in your library, sits there for years, and then suddenly reveals itself as an interesting artifact of its time.
The game was released in 2004, and I never actually played it back then, although I remember seeing it somewhere in a magazine. And of course, the first thing that comes to mind when you start it now is comparison with Need for Speed Underground, Underground 2, Most Wanted, Carbon. Same era: America, night streets, tuning, fast cars, street racing culture.
And here’s the interesting part:
the game really tried to be a competitor to Need for Speed, and even added some unique features. But at the same time, it remained a standalone title — no big sequel, no major series, just this one game.
Honestly, even now it feels surprisingly playable, if you accept its limitations. It’s an interesting experience and comparison point, but it clearly has both strong and weak sides. And it’s important to remember: this is a 2004 game, and at that time it was actually pretty impressive.
If I had played it back then, when there wasn’t much choice in games and no real internet access, I think I would’ve spent a lot of time with it.
👠 Girls Feature
One of the most well-known and unusual features of the game is the girls.
There are 18 of them, and you can:
• unlock them through challenges
• win races
• get video clips with them
At first, it looks like a purely cosmetic or marketing feature, but in reality it’s integrated into the campaign, because completing these challenges gives you rating points, which are required to progress.
So you can’t really skip them if you want to finish the game.
By today’s standards, it might feel a bit questionable or even slightly sexist, but considering the 2004 era, it’s more of a time capsule than a serious issue.
🏎️ Gameplay and Racing
The game is built around race stages, each consisting of three races.
You complete races, earn rating points, and unlock the next stages.
But there’s a catch:
to reach the final stages, you need a lot of points, and simply finishing first isn’t enough. You need to:
• win
• drive clean
• avoid crashes
• drift
• maintain control
And this is where the game starts to get demanding.
In later stages:
• AI is unforgiving
• tracks are harder
• traffic interferes
• mistakes are costly
If your car setup isn’t right — it gets tough.
🔧 Cars, Tuning, and Physics
On one hand, tuning isn’t as deep as in Underground 2, but it actually affects performance.
Especially noticeable with:
• tires
• suspension
• overall setup
I felt this the most with the Skyline.
With one set of tires, the car was almost uncontrollable, and after changing them — it handled completely differently.
So the game really makes you:
• experiment
• adjust
• find your own setup
But there’s also a downside:
car physics feel a bit light and arcade-like. Cars:
• bounce
• feel weightless
• don’t always behave naturally
Drifting also doesn’t always feel precise.
And near the end, when your car becomes very powerful, the tracks become tighter and more technical — making that power less useful.
💸 Economy and Progression
There are basically two ways to play:
Option 1 — “fair”
Buy a car, race, earn money, repair, upgrade, repeat.
Option 2 — “shortcut”
Unlock the first girl, go into another mode, get a Lancer Evolution VII, and basically break the game balance, because it can carry you almost to the end.
And yes — this works.
Because if you play “fairly”, you’ll have to:
• replay races
• grind money
• spend it on repairs
• place bets
• repeat again
So the economy exists, but often turns into grinding.
🌐 Multiplayer
Interestingly, the game did have a multiplayer mode.
At the time, it allowed players to race against each other, adding more replay value and competition.
However, nowadays it’s basically inactive, and finding matches is extremely unlikely.
Still, for its time, having multiplayer was a solid addition and showed that the game was aiming to compete with bigger titles.
🌃 Atmosphere, Music, Visuals
Visually, the game isn’t as bad as you might expect from 2004.
While racing, you focus more on:
• corners
• minimap
• opponents
Music is honestly pretty weak.
There might be a few decent tracks, but overall it’s forgettable. I played with my own music instead.
The atmosphere is similar to Underground, but less polished.
It feels more raw and chaotic, but still has its charm.

Для своего времени у игры был огромный потенциал и ряд интересных механик и возможностей: глубокий тюнинг автомобиля, физика управления и красивые девушки. Но существует серьезная проблема игры, которая меня бесила в 2006 году и до сих пор вымораживает - система репутации или авторитета (как вам будет удобнее). На протяжении всей "карьеры" при прохождении гонок вы получаете репутацию, которая в свою очередь открывает доступ к новым заездам, но не всё так легко. Просто побеждая вы не получите достаточно "репы" и финальные гонки у вас попросту не будут доступны, таким методом разработчики толкают игрока выполнять разнообразные трюки во время самих ночных гонок (дрифт, прыжок и т.д.)
Цель: получить 77 000 репутации для финального заезда.
С вашего позволения начнем небольшие математические расчеты: за каждую победу в уличном заезде нам дают 750 репутации, а максимум возможно получить 1 000 - соответственно 250 мы должны заработать нереальной тряской на своём автомобиле. Запомнили? У каждой уличной команды 3 этапа, в 1 этапе 3 заезда - с одного этапа максимум можно получить 3 000 репутации и соответственно за все этапы одной команды 9 000. Что по итогу? 5 команд дают 45 000 репутации, добавим к этому 2 этапа легальных гонок, где полностью отсутствует тряска (Ура!) и нужно просто приехать первым - с этих мероприятий мы получаем ещё 18 000. 63 000: вы помните про прекрасных девушек? Удовлетворив грязные фантазии 18 девушек, вы получите ещё 9 000. 72 000! На этом этапе у нас открыты две из трёх последних гонок от финальной команды, выиграв их вы получите финальную гонку и пройдете игру.
Одна из худших вещей, которые я видел в аркадных гоночных играх. Получить 45 000 при прохождении 5 уличных команд практически невозможно и нужно зaдрaчивaть гонки до посинения, существует также баг, когда репутация за "трюки" не начисляется, так же любые столкновения понижают её. Не стоит ещё забывать, что противники любят таранить игрока а не объезжать, тем самым намеренно портят результат.
Street Racing Syndicate могла стать довольно интересной игрой, но разработчики решили подсадить игрока на иглу практически идеальных заездов, где игрок как бродяга считающий мелочь у вокзала в поисках лишних сотен репутации.

А я в свою очередь как и в детстве не смог заполучить доступ к финальной гонке остановившись на 75 524. Я ещё раздумывал большую часть отзыва посвятить красоте местных девушек, о том насколько они естественно-красивы и у каждой отсутствуют те самые "следы отчима", хоть и наверняка некоторые из них уже нянчат внуков.
Эх, верните мне мои 2000-е, хоть я и был ребёнком, но жилось гораздо легче.

Класс
Сначала скажу свои впечатления и мысли о данной игре. Помню поигрывал в нее на стареньком пк у деда. Удивительно, что игра 2005 года может так сильно затянуть, а также почувствовать прилив ностальгии по давно минувшим дням, советую поиграть хоть раз в нее и дать ей шанс.
Начну же про геймплей игры. Физики авто проработана довольно хорошо, но в некоторых ситуациях могут запороть гонку или же наоборот дать преимущество. Японские авто и их кастомизация мне понравилась, дается довольно обширное разнообразие для тюнинга (правда некоторые элементы вообще не понимал для чего нужны). И основной небольшой минус для меня это частые патрули полицейских авто, когда происходит погоня и едешь по магистрали 160 км/ч, а тебе поперек дороги вылетает полицейское авто, то в такие моменты немного подгорает.
Если брать общие впечатления, то игра не даст заскучать, и вы получите множество интересных моментов во время гонок или погони. Главное это попробовать, а дальше уже погрузитесь сами в эту атмосферу старой игры. =)

После гарантированной победы и получения на руки капитала прожиточного минимума на покупку уже нашей новой стартовой колымаги [spoiler]Ерохина до конца игры вы не увидите, максимум его машинку на улицах - вот и весь сюжет.[/spoiler]
+ Опенворлд минимальных размеров. При чем можно как скипать поездки, так и прокатиться, восполнив запасы азота посредством выполнения трюкачеств и лихачества;
+ Лицензированные повозки и детали для тюнинга к ним, в которых придётся ещё и разбираться;
+ В игре есть смена дня и ночи, но не так, как можно подумать. Нет, не шучу, разработчики своеобразно выкрутились. Даже солнце в глаза слепит ультрареалистично (хотя это можно и к минусам отнести);
+ Игровые видео с девушками в гараже по нынешним меркам (да и тогда, честно говоря) смотрятся нелепо, зато у каждой своя сценка на гоночном старте.
- Система фиксации заносов иногда вызывает вопросы;
- Гринд очков авторитета - в финал вас не пустят по причине нехватки оных, если не будете на максимум уличные гонки делать, а это сложно даже на Немезисе по причине короткой прямой, плюс пункт выше;
- Музыка приелась быстро.
В игре есть Лос-Анджелес, который будет открыт для исследования, а также Филадельфия и Майами в качестве трасс. Однако, если названия городов заменить любыми японскими, то мало что поменяется - влияние Namco (пока ещё не Bandai) повсюду ощущается.
Gamespy давным-давно покоится где-то с 10-х, мультиплеер вроде бы можно поднять Openspy альтернативой, правда никого там не увидел.
В целом, отбрасывая некоторые нюансы, играется бодренько, особенно если сначала аркады пройти. Стоит немного, а в момент написания обзора ещё и под скидкой. Если таки возьмёте - гайды на широкоэкранные фиксы, мультиплеер и русификаторы при необходимости ищите в центре сообщества.

Great game the soundtrack is brutal during the race and it gives alot of adrenaline , lots of cars to choose and tweaking it , the girlfriends you unlock during the many challenges is a great feature , the story is the only negative aspect of the game because it could be more deeply or explored for better engagement with the player.

Игра средняя, точно не уровень других гонок, на любителя точно. Геймлпейно - слабая игра, это факт.
Ностальгии по игре нет, в детстве мне данная игра не попадалась, да и по гоночкам я не фанат. Как по мне пару часиков покатать можно, а потом надоедает.

If you have the ability to play other games of this era and genre like Need For Speed Underground 2 or Midnight Club, I can't give you a reason to choose Street Racing Syndicate over your other options. There's nothing SRS does that the two previously mentioned games don't do better. Those games have better sound, better graphics, better physics, better sense of speed, better voice acting, and frankly they're just more fun. SRS just felt boring and unengaging.
The only thing that could convince a person to come back to this game is nostalgia, and as someone who didn't play this as a kid (cause I had better games... like NFSU2), there's just no appeal here.
If you really wanna try it, go ahead. It's only 3 bucks. But don't expect as great of an experience as its more successful counterparts

This is my childhood racing game.
I know most folks have it as a Need for Speed game (mostly Most Wanted), but the first racing game I ever played was this one. Hell, it's one of the first few games I played. It holds a special place in my heart always for not only sparking my love for racing and cars, but for the countless memories I have with it growing up. But despite playing this game for years, this is the first time I have finished the game.
This game is pretty easy in the start, but has an insane difficulty spike towards the end. It demands precision and skill. I respect that, but I was terrified of it. For years, I would only play until midway and usually quit because of the difficulty. But here I stand, fulfilling the childhood want of mine.
Anyways, on to the review!
This is one of the last racing games on Steam from the glory days of Street Racing in the early 2000's. Nearly every single Need for Speed game is gone, the Juiced games and many more. Yet this stands the test of time, despite having a crazy roster of the hottest cars as well as the top tuning brands of it's time. It felt like a dream come true when I bought this game.
This game has no plot. But the gameplay carries it. It's one of those juicy and satisfying campaigns where you start with a crappy car and work your way up to get a crazy machine towards the end. It can feel a bit grindy, but that's to be expected. Each car has it's pros and cons and I love the selection of cars. Every single legendary JDM car is here, from the Trueno to the Lancer Evos to the Supra (yep) to the RX-7 and the hero of the game, the Skyline GT-R R34. The customization is pretty good and you can make some sick rides with the system. Even though the game feels arcadey, it does make an effort to be realistic. Damage to the car doesn't automatically repair itself like NFS, you gotta pay for it and to top it all off, performance can decrease if the damage is too high. This damage model in this game is pretty detailed and has a lot of depth for it's time (better than NFS hehe). Nitrous also needs replenishing, no auto replenishing here. The replays after the races are hilarious and cool. The main menus are genuinely beautiful to look it. It's so 2000s aesthetic and oozing with style. I could stare at it for a longg longg time. It's tiny details like these!
Since I grew up with the soundtrack, I am very biased. But objectively, this game has a lot of bangers by relatively unknown artists. Although I do understand that it could get repetitive as only a handful of songs repeat in specific scenarios. Like for racing, there are like 5 songs in a preselected playlist that follows the same order of tracks everytime. Same goes for the garage music. But most of the tracks are really really good.
Then comes the USP of this game, the girlfriend system! All I will say is that I love hot girls and I especially appreciate hot girls dancing. If it can slide for GTA, it definitely can slide for this game. I have no negative things to say about it. It's awesome, not gonna lie.
Overall, Street Racing Syndicate is a time capsule that really sends you back to when Street Racing was at it's peak. A true underrated gem that has something for everyone. Though it's not a perfect experience, but with it's fun gameplay, cool aesthetic and hot girls, I recommend this to anyone and everyone who likes cars, and hot girls.
I love it a lot, but I am insanely biased.

PS - The hero car of this game is one of the greatest hero cars and I'm not even debating.
Fun Fact: it has the same bodykit as Brian O'Conner's Skyline GT-R from 2 Fast 2 Furious. This is like the evil twin of that car.

It might not be as famous as Need For Speed franchise, but what Street Racing Syndicate has is a certain type of passion that oozes through. It has a very old-school racing feel but modern enough that you can play on a recent controller layout. The cars are 90s nostalgia with a lot meaningful upgrades and customization. Anyone looking for a Gran Turismo style racing sim will be disappointed but if you're looking for a reason why 90s were the peak of racing games, check this game out.

Street Racing Syndicate é um jogo de corrida arcade lançado nos anos 2000 que lembra bastante os Need for Speed antigos. Ele é focado em corridas de rua, apostas em dinheiro, carros tunados e muita velocidade.
Um dos pontos fortes do jogo é que ele é muito leve. Roda tranquilo em PC fraco, PC batata e até no notebook da Xuxa 😂. Não exige placa de vídeo potente nem muita memória, sendo perfeito pra quem quer se divertir sem gastar dinheiro em hardware.
A jogabilidade é simples e direta, fácil de aprender, com corridas rápidas e bem dinâmicas. O jogo traz vários carros licenciados, opções de tuning, melhorias de desempenho e apostas antes das corridas, o que deixa tudo mais emocionante.
Os gráficos são simples, mas combinam bem com a proposta do jogo e ainda hoje são agradáveis para quem curte jogos clássicos. A trilha sonora ajuda a criar o clima de corrida underground.
No geral, Street Racing Syndicate é um jogo bom, divertido, leve e barato, ideal para quem é humilde, gosta de jogos antigos de corrida e sente saudade da época de ouro dos arcades de carro. Um ótimo passatempo que roda em qualquer máquina.

pretty much worse than other racing games of the time, such as midnight club and NFS UG1/UG2/MW05/carbon. if you've already played all of those, i could see someone getting some fun out of this for its insanely cheap price, especially in the arcade mode. but with a mediocre map, extremely boring campaign, and overall lack of sense of speed until you get to the very fastest cars in the game (which still aren't very fast), it should 100% be at the bottom end of your racing game backlog.

A true Steam classic with cool trading cards. Need for Speed on a budget. The online does not work, but still has split screen. Cool brand name cars that you can customize. Career mode with free roam. lots of content for the price. No DLC to pay for. Just play to unlock content and then play more. Soundtrack from the times with a mix of hiphop, and punk. SRS feels good on controller. Games like these are the reason why I left console and have not looked backed. Everything you could ask for from in a major racing title, without the major cost factor. The graphics are a little choppy, like just little bit. Its the same grainy fog chroma filter thing they are using in CSGO2 right now, so it can't be that bad. Its charming really and has actually aged quite well in this graphics department. There is no achievements so I don't see reason to return to this one in 2025 sadly. I recommend this if you have completed the more modern titles and are looking for something else while you wait for the next one. Or if you are a purest gaming enthusiast and just appreciate a good game for what it is.

Putting aside the game's misogynistic undertones, like most racing games by Eutechnyx, the driving controls let the whole experience down. Alongside that, it clearly was not given the time or polish it needed to stand out from other better racing games, like Need For Speed: Most Wanted or Carbon. Which is saying a lot, seeing as I'm not even the biggest enjoyer of those game.

- City feels really small. Due to how cramped and repetitive the streets are.

- Lackluster cosmetic vehicle customization. I normally don't care for this, but seeing as tuner racing games thrive off of this feature, it isn't as extensible as it should be.
- Misogynistic undertones. Conveniently, there's not a single female driver to be found. That by itself is fine, but for some reason, the Girlfriend characters are easily impressed by 5 seconds of air time and/or a simple loop around a racetrack. If people were that easy to impress, society would not be experiencing birthrate issues. I guess it's not as offensive as Ride To Hell: Retribution.
Old classic game that deserves more recognition that tried to beat nfs and juiced series. For the community that reads the reviews (and dev team case they actually read). B4 I quit using steam for my safety, this is the message I want to spread around for the community.

Street Racing Syndicate est un jeu rétro édité par Namco, sorti en 2004 sur consoles et 2005 sur PC.
Comme son nom l'indique, il s'agit d'un jeu de courses de rue avec un mode carrière et un mode arcade. Le but est d'enchaîner des courses dans différentes villes des États-Unis en open world afin de gagner de l'argent et du respect.
L'argent sert bien évidemment à acheter des véhicules iconiques que l'on ne présente plus, comme la Supra, la Trueno ou encore la Skyline GT-R, mais sert également à customiser et améliorer celles-ci ! Il y a 50 véhicules à débloquer de 7 marques différentes : Mitsubishi, Toyota, Volkswagen, Subaru, Lexus, Mazda et Nissan.
Quant au respect, il sert notamment à séduire des filles afin d'avoir droit à des séquences vidéos de danse faites par de vraies actrices. Donc oui, c'est vraiment un jeu à l'ancienne ! On ne verrait plus cela aujourd'hui avec la censure que l'on se mange à toutes les sauces...
Donc voilà. Cette review est très courte car malheureusement, il n'y a pas grand-chose à dire sur ce jeu. On enchaîne des courses à la chaîne sans aucun scénario, avec les mêmes musiques du début à la fin, et ce jusqu'à tout débloquer... Mouais.
De plus, on ne peut pas personnaliser les touches pour la navigation dans les menus. Donc si comme moi vous jouez à la manette, cela peut vraiment vous poser problème.
Pour conclure, même si j'ai plutôt apprécié ce titre, je n'ai pas trouvé la force et l'envie de le finir. Je ne vois pas l'intérêt de faire des courses en boucle sans savoir pourquoi...
Néanmoins, je recommande quand même ce jeu et je vais lui mettre une note de 5/10, par respect.
Même si je n'ai pas été convaincu par ce Street Racing Syndicate, cela reste objectivement une très bonne expérience nostalgique et une excellente alternative à Need for Speed: Underground et à Midnight Club qui ne sont pas disponibles sur Steam. De plus, le jeu est super beau pour son époque, j'ai été bluffé !

Мне эту игру притащили на диске когда мне было лет 10 тогда игра для меня оказалась сложной т.к оказывается надо платить деньги за ремонт а их итак там мало было.

Гру було розроблено як мультиплатформний проєкт — і це відчувається. Навіть за мірками того часу графіка виглядає досить посередньо й “консольно”, а звук не справляє особливого враження. Навіть у ПК-версії виникає відчуття, ніби граєш на PS 2.
За винятком кількох автомоделей (як-от VW), автопарк здебільшого складається з азійських марок — Toyota, Nissan, Mazda і т.д. Загальна модель керування у всіх схожа, керувати автомобілями доволі приємно, і просто кататися містом справді весело.
У грі нібито є режим кар’єри, але на справжній сюжет розраховувати не варто. Зате тут не бракує голих тьоть! Думаю через це всі і запам'ятали цю гру з позитивом, мають право. Загалом навіть діалоги з Need for Speed здаються зразком витонченості.
Тож якщо ви шукаєте максимально просту аркадну гонку, у якій можна повністю вимкнути мозок — перед вами цілком пристойний, хоча й дуже посередній представник жанру. Лишила б нейтральний коментар, але немає такої опції. Тому позитивний в знак шани олдскулам.
