I have mixed feelings with my short time with this game. I found the screen too busy at times. The art style does not strike the right balance with the foreground clashing with the background. A skilled bullet dodger will be challenged by the art style which clashes with the gameplay which is so important in a rogue lite system, Developers in the 80 and 90's era (Taito, Konami, Capcom} created seamless gems with lesser technology and smaller sized games. I only recommend on a sale.

Comparing this to Gogola which is movie about kaiju - it's entirely different. But for real, game is a bit chaotic... Random generated levels that push dozens of enemies towards your ship without much flare or distinction. 2 ships to choose from and 2 weapons to pick for starters. On plus side plenty of weapons and ships to unlock. Dash to avoid projectiles and lasers. After each stage get opportunity of grabbing perk or power up that can effectively improve your ship preparing it for next level. There's some choice to make when selecting stage but generally they all play the same not offering much. After some killing spree you complete level and move on to the next one. Music is rather good and you might like it. Gameplay a bit shallow and repetitive. After dying just repeat in random generated manner. So it quickly becomes boring. Boing to the next one...

Ironically, this game has a pretty bad interface.

False advertising:
Has no volume controls, despite volume controls being listed as an accessibility feature on the store page.

A roguelite sidescrolling shooter. As far as I know this is the only one of those. I like sidescrollers (& roguelites) & it's nice to have a new take on the formula. It would be nice if the game actually told you what the upgrades do rather than forcing you to guess with cryptic riddles. I suppose after a while you just memorise them, & have to play around with them to learn what they do. I think I would prefer just being told though. The addition of v-sync would be appreciated; there is some screen tearing when scrolling through the 'software' upgrades when starting a run, & when moving around the map. Another thing I would like is if the ship just auto-fired. I think the dev should look at 'Boneraiser Minions'; It has this really nice feature that allows you to adjust the opacity of friendly & enemy sprites & projectiles, & also the player sprite, & give them differently coloured outlines. This makes it way easier to see what you need to dodge & what you don't, & is rather necessary in a game when there is so much stuff flying around the screen; I keep finding myself trying to dodge the projectiles of my friendly drones, which in some cases look identical to enemy projectiles. This game is a cool idea that really needed a lot more time in the oven, & with no updates for over a year, that doesn't seem very likely to change.

[i]Stellar Interface[/i] est un jeu de tir dans l'espace "à l'ancienne" où vous devrez éliminer tous les ennemis jusqu'au boss final, le suzerain. Ce titre offre un contenu riche et conséquent à débloquer (vaisseaux, boss, bonus de combat, consommables, etc.) et propose donc un beau défi à relever avec un vrai sentiment de progression.

Pour autant, le gameplay s'avère redondant et répétitif et peine à se renouveler à partir du moment où l'on a tout déverrouillé. C'est alors qu'un sentiment de lassitude vient faire disparaître tout l'aspect amusant du jeu.

Par ailleurs, il y a un déséquilibre significatif entre les différents vaisseaux. Par exemple, l'[i]Eagle[/i] surclasse clairement tous les autres avec sa capacité à doubler les drones qui l'accompagnent, le rendant surpuissant avec une armée robotique qui balaie tout sur son passage.

Notons également que certaines armes (comme les missiles à tête chercheuse) sont beaucoup trop lentes et imprécises contre les ennemis les plus pénibles (drones kamikazes et mines explosives), les rendant inutiles au profit des lasers, fusils à pompe et blasters.

Malgré ces quelques défauts, [i]Stellar Interface[/i] offre une expérience positive et agréable pour les adeptes du genre. Je le recommande donc pour les amateurs de jeux de tir dans l'espace.

The game does not signal clearly enough what is happening. I just played it for a few minutes and would randomly get taken from the level into some sort of screen where I could select an upgrade. Had I beaten a boss? Had I progressed a level? I didn't see anything while I was playing that would indicate that.

This seems like fairly basic stuff, but you really can't play a game where you can't even tell if you've beaten a level or not.

It's bland, slow and boring. I'mma gettin' really tired of these indie games that take very basic gameplay, and then throw in a soup of randomized upgrades and hope that good game design somehow emerges from it.

Least they could've done was had some nice art assets, but all the sprites in the game look very basic too, and the background (which are crudely animated) crawls at snail's base - likely to mask the lack of background art assets in the game.

Perhaps the game gets more fun the longer you survive, but as it stands the early game is really tedious. Four runs is all I could take, and I don't care for the typical, mushy "lol, so many randomized items, so awesome!" game design.

With its retro graphics and challenging gameplay, it is perfect for those who are fans of the classic arcade games and retro space shooters. With 100+ upgrades/perks, there are countless ways to spec out your ship, leading to a different experience every time you start a new run. The bosses are all fun with unique mechanics and the music is awesome. Overall, if you are looking for an arcade style space shooter, this game is well worth picking up. It is also great on Steam Deck.

Stellar Interface is one of the most underrated indie games from the last decade. Developed by ImaginationOverflow, a studio based on Portugal, this shoot ‘em up is full of surprises, some great ideas, satisfying gameplay and lots of humor.

[h1]It’s its own thing[/h1]

Unlike traditional SHMUPS, Stellar Interface is a shooter with heavy random elements and a non-linear progression. The player only have one life to beat the game, or better put, to finish a run. I’m temped to say that this game is a roguelite, but it’s quite different from that genre, since there’s no meta-progression (you don’t get stronger between each playthrough) but there are some unlockables (new ships, power-ups, etc) that adds to the replay value. At the time of writing, I’m around 20 hours played and I’m still unlocking new stuff and seeing new levels.

[h1]Time is on your side. Sort of[/h1]

After the first level (which is mostly always the same), you get to choose several other different levels, ranging from normal stages to special stages, shop points and boss levels. Apart from shops and bosses, the regular stages can be finished after a certain amount of time (indicated on the top right corner) and special stages require you to defeat a certain number of enemies to unlock more ships. You’ll spend most of your time on regular levels, and the amount of time you’ll need to finished them varies drastically, making Stellar Interface a game where you are always alert.

[h1]It’s not so hard. Until it isn’t[/h1]

Master System was my first videogame. On that console, I got to play SHMUPS like R-Type, Astro-Warrior, Cloud Master, Fantasy Zone, etc. I never beat those games (even Fantasy Zone, which is on the easier side) and yet I can still finish many runs of Stellar Interface, so I can say that it’s an easy game in the shoot ‘em up genre. Until it isn’t. Some bosses are almost always a guarantee of defeat when you face them until you learn their pattern. But still, sometimes even after beating a certain boss a number of times, I get defeated when I’m feeling too confident with a great loadout. In the end, I feel the difficulty is just right.

[h1]Give it a try[/h1]

You may be surprised, but you might own this game already, as it’s been part of several bundles in the past, so give it a try. This game brings a novel concept that I haven’t seen in any other shoot ‘em up, and it executes it well. It’s far from perfect, but it’s a worthy experience. I wish more people could play this game and get to know it, but with a name like that, I can understand why it got lost among other games. Seriously, “Stellar Interface” makes it look like a Windows Start Menu software or something like that. See you, space cowboy!

Atraviesa galaxias generadas aleatoriamente lidiando con hordas de enemigos diseñados por un algoritmo que probablemente se inspiró en pesadillas cósmicas. ¡Ponte el cinturón, vamos a intentar entender por qué tenemos esa nada despreciable calificación comunitaria!

- **Personalización de Armamento**: tienes más combinaciones de armas que celebridades en dramas de Hollywood. Puedes personalizar tu nave tanto que casi puedes sentir el olor a nuevo del espacio.
- **Gameplay Roguelike**: nunca sabes lo que te espera en la próxima estrella, lo que añade un factor sorpresa digno de una serie de Netflix.
- **Estética de 8-bits Muy Currada**: para aquellos nostálgicos que extrañan un Tetris pero en versión ataque espacial.

I am 32 years old.

My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.

When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.

Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.

With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.

After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.

Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.

Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.

Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

I got it with a huge discount, but it's a Mixed Bag, you see , this game had a fk ton of achievements, and are doable....but the problem? When your game crashed, you lost all the Fking progress... and it crashed randomly, you will never know, but when your game freeze, game making weird noises, you're in deep ♥♥♥♥

I will not recommend buying this piece of hot trash , but since game development are dead/ ended.... I guess if you want to give it a go, only get it on a huge sale !

Если вы приходите домой с завода, то самое время снова туда отправиться! Но уже на галактическом корабле! Я купил эту игру из-за того, что Steam выдал мне купон на скидку в 90%! Но эта игра свою полную цену не оправдывает! Настройки в игре ужасные, я вообще в начале подумал, что их нет! Про мышку в этой игре тоже можете забыть! Потом постоянные двойные пролистывания или двойные нажатия! У меня иногда срабатывало двойное нажатие на “→” и “ESC”. Я подумал, что моя новая механическая клавиатура начала залипать, взял старую клаву, но проблема не решилась! Я взял геймпад, и там также, если я нажимал вправо, например в меню, то срабатывало двойное нажатие! И иногда, например, одним нажатием с первой страницы я перепрыгивал на третью! Потом после смерти каждый раз нужно начинать игру заново, это тупо!

Я думал, что способности корабля в игре одноразовые, например, “ракетный удар” можно использовать только разок. А оказывается, что у него просто огромная перезарядка — минут так в пять, так как полоску перезарядки почти не видно! И даже выход на следующую локацию не убирает перезарядку! Враги в основном появляются абсолютно со всех сторон, и столкновение с ними наносит вам непоправимый ущерб! С таким уроном я иногда пугался собственных дронов, которые летали тоже по всем сторонам! И когда дрон улетал в другой конец карты, а потом летел на меня и стрелял в мою сторону (он по врагу сзади стрелял), я тоже этого немного пугался! Ваши дроны и многие враги слипаются с фоном, и я не понимал, где враг, а где мой дрон. Система улучшения тут тоже не очень… Ведь в убийстве врагов нет вообще смысла, так как модификации и прочее вы получаете за прохождение уровня! Потом у меня сгорела жопа с волн лазеров на всю карту! Может, предложили бы какой-то щит? Или неуязвимость на несколько секунд, чтобы я мог этот лазер задоджить? Если вам не попался инвиз, то вы автоматически проиграли!

Потом из-за огнемёта не видно вражеских снарядов, что иногда было причиной моей смерти! И ещё в игре ущербное описание ПО! Мне почти перед боссом выпало “мелкое горючее” и “большое горючее”. Описание там было ужасное, и я подумал, что если возьму большое, то буду быстрее летать или что-то типа того… Но мой корабль раздуло в 4 раза! И я ломил мордой все метеориты и корабли, которые появлялись сзади меня! Как от горючего корабль может стать больше в 4 раза? Описание было такое: “Вы то, что вы едите, только больше”! Рофловое описание, конечно, хорошо, но писали бы хоть что-то полезное! Я разработчику на бутылке с моющим средством напишу: “Это то, что вы пьёте” или на пачке порошка: “Это то, что вы едите”! Клоуны… Потом меня уже конкретно достал этот полу-босс “Балли”, который попадался постоянно в начале карты! И вы с мусорным оружием, которое его не пробивает, пытаетесь его убить!

Потом разработчик пишет: “Чтобы переключаться между одноразовыми предметами корабля (способностями), нажмите "Z”! *****, у каждого корабля была по одной способности, и в 70% случаев они были бесполезными! Знаете почему? Потому что разработчик даже не додумался написать описание способностей! А если в описании что-то написано, то это какой-то непонятный набор слов! Типа “работает только с ракетами” или “лучше работает с дробовиками или бластерами”. Как лучше работает? Наносит больше урона, стреляет быстрее, убирает перезарядку? Как я должен понять, что он улучшает? Это действительно какая-то клоунада…

Из минусов:
-Если вам не выпал инвиз. и на карте появились лазеры=вы проиграли!
-Вы играете на тех же кораблях, что и враги!
-Нету поддержки мышки
-Тупое описание способностей!
-Долгое Кд способностей корабля
-Враги сливаются с фоном
-Фоны меняются очень редко!
-Однообразные и почти не меняющиеся враги!
-Эта игра является большим минусом в моей библиотеке

This has been a damn fun game. While I feel like people who are hardcore into shooters wouldn't give this one much attention, as someone who can find those games a lil' frustrating, I find Stellar Interface to be pretty darn good.

I like a lot about this game, from picking varied and different ships to weapons to upgrades; the upgrades from the end of cleared levels can really dictate your strategy depending upon what upgrades are available.

Between these 'rogue' like elements and the casual feel to the game makes it really easy for me to pick up, play a few games, and walk away feeling good about the experience and wanting more. Definitely a game I'll likely end up grinding some achievements out of as well as I play over the years.

Solid shooter? Check.
Lots of customization? Check.
Varying builds and play styles? Check.
Lots of replayability? Check.

What can I say? This is one of the best arcade space shooters for the price. Don't let the playtime on Steam fool you; I've spent SO many hours playing this on my Switch which is why I also decided to buy it here, as well (I mean, ACHIEVEMENTS, amirite?).

Sure it's all shooty-shooty-boom-boom but it's fun! Good variety of bosses to fight and tons of in-game progress to be had too.

I'll just say this: if you like the genre of game and you're looking for something that's more than just a one-trick pony of said genre, this is your game. You'll have a blast. I am and will continue to do so while patiently awaiting a sequel.

Nice concept, the art is just ok. I play on an arcade stick, which works fine, except the buttons won't remap. The option is there. But, it looks like it was just for show, as the whole game locks up as soon as you try to set buttons in the mapper. I got it on a pretty good sale, I couldn't recommend it at full price. I'm going to work with it some more, but I wouldn't have bothered if I knew the issues.

Good game.

What I like: Lots of replayability. 100+ upgrades/perks with many different ways to build your ship. Ships/classes have different abilities which adds new challenges. Most bosses are fun with unique mechanics. Endless mode is a fun way to test your skill or experiment with certain builds. Art style and music are great.
Game is made in Unity so it can be modded easily if needed (3rd party).

What I don't like: Navigating UI can be glitchy (no/low input timing so pressing left/right for just a second and the game skips over several options at once; you need to just tap left/right to move accurately on the ui). Upgrades/perks don't tell you exactly what they do (they all have flavour text about their function, but no actual +/- numbers). Some ships/abilities/perks are too powerful while others are lacking balance. Megabomb enemies that come from behind and instantly kill you, so annoying.

Eso es lo que tiene y hace Stellar Interface
Y hay que decir que lo hace bastante bien.
En un principio, haremos 3 o 4 mapas antes de encontrarnos al primer Lord
Luego de derrotarlo, el Lord es reemplazado por uno nuevo, pero el Lord Derrocado, seguira apareciendo en la galaxia de manera aleatoria, ademas, a medida que derrotemos mas Lords, mas mapas podremos jugar, y mientras mas mapas, mas PowerUps
Ademas, las naves son muy diferentes unas de otras, a simple vista, son casi las mismas, pero con una Skin diferente, pero si les prestas atencion a las estadisticas de la nave, y al armamento, puedes exprimirle hasta la ultima gota de jugo a cada nave, a tal punto que terminas siendo casi intocable
Te dan a escoger 1 PowerUp por mapa, de una lista al azar de 3, 4 o 5 PowerUps
Luego de Desbloquear todas las naves en los mapas "Factoria" nos dejan elegir 1 de 4 mejoras fijas
(+20% de salud/+20% de movimiento/+20% de Daño/+8 de Ram)
El juego no es perfecto, pero es muy, pero muy entretenido, es de esos juegos que entras a jugar un ratito, y terminas jugando mas de 1 hora, porque aunque a veces pierdas, siempre dices: "puedo hacerlo en la proxima Run"
Pese a no tener una dificultad tan Elevada como los juegos de naves del espacio de antaño, es un muy buen juego

This game has quite a bit more depth than I initially thought it would. Combining the Rogue-lite nature of games like [i] One Step From Eden [/i] and [i] Slay the Spire [/i] with a top-down arcade space shooter made for an enjoyable combination. If you grew up on games like [i] Galaxian [/i] and [i] Xevious [/i] and want something similar but with a modern twist that keeps you coming back for more, [i] Stellar Interface [/i] will be right up your alley.

Also, it has a bangin' soundtrack!

I love this game, as a fan of space shooters from very young I find this a necessary addition to my collection.
Very fun, quick and unique. Runs can be so broken if you know what are you doing, it's very fun tanking bosses, with caution tho, they are still bosses.

Absolutely recommended if you already have some experience with space shooters, can be annoying at times if you don't, I never bothered changing the difficulty.

Good gameplay, love the soundtrack, worth the price.

not a $13 game, I only beat the first boss.

here is the review.
The game itself follows a rouge like with random upgrade you can choose from, and the battlefield can get crazy(ly awesome) from synergy upgrades.

when you are on the world map you are given option to fight battles before you take on the boss, giving your additional upgrades or new weapon choice etc.

*The problem
The stages itself are auto scroller. under no player influence that can meaningfully speed up the stage play.
so even though you can kill all the enemies with your sickest upgrades, the spawn is set with the map scroller, meaning you HAVE to sit and watch the the scroll to finish and then be rewarded and move on to the next Auto scroller..

Which killed all the momentum of the game play and my wish to play , or to replay. stage boss also resets you after you killed the first boss(and i assume every other major bosses). so back to square one and watch the auto scroll.

Some Bullet also visually similar to enemy bullets, but this is less of an issue as you are given a HP bar

you should be able to change the button layout. my left arrow key doesn't work and it really sucks having to use wasd because z,x,c are the three main for shooting and special.

Ooooo Boy, this one's good.

Everything that could be balanced has been. Whenever I died, I was angry not at the game but myself, fully aware that the mistake was mine.
The rogue-like nature of this game has been perfectly merged into the shooter genre. with many classic shmups, like R-type, Gradius, and Raiden, one-hit deaths are standard and success relies largely on memorisation and practice. Stellar Interface understands you can't replay a randomly-generated level, so they balance the challenge with a health bar. Tweaks like this to fit RNG into the genre, like odds of which level type the stage is or the exclusion of environmental obstacles, are everywhere and deeply appreciated.

All of the power-ups are a ton of fun to experiment with and learn their function, and help to make every game unique. The uniqueness, though, also lies as the game's only major flaw. Though different play styles lend themselves to different power-ups and all playstyes are made valid in different situations, there still remains a very clear heirarchy to their usefulness. The Joy side-ships integrate replenishing health and make the higher levels wholly more manageable, but RNG will keep giving you minor health and fire rate boosts instead of the things you really need. So much so that if a certain list of power-ups aren't obtained by the first few levels, it's better to abandon your run and try again than expect to make any progress.

Does this break the game? Hell no, It's a ton of fun to have to grit your teeth with a crappy build and die humiliatingly. The game's highs are fantastic and it's lows are p:ss-funny.

Jogo muito bom que lembra os antigos jogos de navinha,os gráficos me chamaram muito a atenção por terem muitos detalhes e serem em 2D,que particularmente gosto bastante.O sistema de aprimorar naves e descobrir perks é muito bom,combinado com uma jogabilidade ótima.Em geral é um jogo que não é tão caro (R$26,89 18/02/2021) e tem uma qualidade boa.Recomendo.

This game will grow on you if you give it a chance. It is what it looks like, roguelike side-scrolling bullet-hell spaceship action. The controls take a bit of getting used to and it may feel slow at first, but there are power ups to improve your speed if you go for that build.

Stellar Interface uses the choose 1 out of 3 options from other roguelikes and it makes each run feel a bit different. Improve you speed and fire-rate, or surround yourself with drones. The weapons also each have a slightly different feel and there are ships to unlock that each have a different 'bomb' and they are all quite different.

Lots of game play here with charming retro graphics, but I would still say to try to buy it on sale.
