At its core, this game is super fun. It's a roguelite card game, with the play style of being able to move in both directions sequentially (if there's a name for this, I don't know it, but for example if it starts with a 7, you could play a 6 or an 8). Cards are of four different resources—attack, defense, agility, and willpower—and you can use accumulated points from each resource to use skills that you get more access to through the shop as the game progresses. Enemies are roughly the same in each playthrough but in different orders and with different modifiers on them that can make or break a run.
The only reason it doesn't get immensely boring is the RNG aspect of it. Each run is different, plus you can play as one of several classes, which specialize in different skills and which generally provide automatic points into one resource as you draw cards. You can also buy items in the shop that give various buffs or bonuses, and with the more difficult classes there is some strategy (as well as luck with the RNG) involved in making sure you have what you need for each enemy.
It has some moderately challenging achievements, at least on Steam, but I finally cleared them all; the one for beating the final enemy with each deck was the worst of them all for me (I utilized [url=https://www.reddit.com/r/Solitairica/comments/6s2exv/complete_epic_guide/]this guide[/url]), though there's one for going from 1 health to full using a particular skill that relies almost entirely on RNG and is the real troublemaker for a lot of players.
So yeah, very very fun, a good time-sink if you're like me and tend to play something like this alongside Youtube or other videos. They did recently make some changes that, among other things, did away with the option for a vertically-oriented window, which was a real bummer as that's the one I used so I didn't have to pop out my videos to be able to see both things completely, but I adapted. And I originally played this on EGS but didn't really have a reason to pursue things like beating it with every deck, with no achievements involved, so I actually bought it on Steam so I could do that.

I originally played Solitairica on Android years ago, and it has been one of my all-time favorite games ever since. I’ve bought it, replayed it, beaten it multiple times, and I still keep coming back to it. The replay value here is honestly insane.
This isn’t just solitaire. It’s a full strategy game with deck-building and RPG elements. Every run feels different, and there’s always that “one more try” pull.
Even better, this is a game I’ve shared with my family. My youngest daughter loves it too, which says a lot about how accessible and fun it is across different skill levels.
If you’re even slightly interested in card games, roguelikes, or just want something you can sink time into without getting burned out, this is 100% worth it.
I’ve played it for years, and I’ll probably still be playing it years from now.

As others say Id love a mid option, its decently fun to a point but the RNG is atrocious.
Also towards the end when the enemy attacks do more than youre entire life bar when full is not respecting the player or their time.
So a good few hrs time waster and if youre super lucky enjoy.
This game is fun on Steam Deck and a good relaxing game to play when you are watching something and don't need to use too much brainpower.
I used to play this on Ipad years ago so it was easy for me to pick up and play. The controls are really good on the Steam Deck. I've haven't tried it on PC as I would rather play other games.
The progress through unlocking decks and deck upgrades is painfully slow though so I can completely understand the negative reviews.

Good little game, my son likes it. I prefer a more mature vibe like Balatro, but when it gets stale this serves as a good break/change. It's good, just more cutesy and relaxed I think so far from what I've played. Plan on playing more and glad it exists. 😃

If you can get past the fact that not every run is winnable (much like real solitaire) then you've got a fun little game. Playing the game in short bursts is probably the way to go, as I've spent far more time on the mobile version, whipping it out whenever I got a tiny amount of free time.

you have 1 heart left, the enemy attacks with 10 just to spite you and that last card shown is 2 while you have a 4 because this game loves to rub salt in your wound.
you have 0 control of the RNG or any spells to help with choosing a better card or a 'joker' card which is a no-brainer since the steam tag includes 'strategy' lol

Incredible, an update after all these years?
I remember spending all the summer playing this on my tablet way back when it first came out, in between swimming, frolicking and lazing in the sun. It was THAT addictive. I should get back into it, but I'm scared - I no longer have that much free time :)
It's Solitaire where you can actually lose. And cast spells.
Very fun and kind of chill, but you can still really get into it. The difficulty curve is easy to understand.
While having an OK core, Solitairica relies way too heavily on rng without bringing enough diversity to the runs.
To make the matters worse, the animations are painfully slow, to the point when the card flips feel like a torture. Yes, even with the speed up setting turned on.
I love solitaire games and really want to love this, but this game is insanely grindy while also being heavily RNG dependent. One or the other would be ok, but eh combination just means often repeating the same few levels over and over and over and over again to grind out enough gems for one upgrade (which must be repeated for every single upgrade for every single of the many different decks)
This game is fun. (It also is rather difficult, but maybe I'm just a scrub.)
I played this game a lot before the update and the update made it even better. Its a lovely time wasting type of card game, and figuring out synergy between card types, spells, relics and monster attacks is so much fun, and earning crystals to slowly increase your item slots and fancier cards just makes it more fun. I play a round or two a day usually, and its a great game to hope in and out of. I couldn't recommend it more!

Boring game. Would rather play solitaire on a Windows 3.1 device. I think the concept is cute, but the execution is horrible.

There are so many other options in the roguelike deck builder genre that you’re better off playing. Slay the Spire and Monster Train 2 are two that come to mind. Solitarica lacks strategic depth and is too RNG heavy to be worth your time. It feels like the proof of concept for a game rather than something actually worth playing for its own sake.
Largely RNG-dependent rougelite that quickly becomes an absolute nightmare once you realise how many runs end because you're forced to skip turns repeatedly while the enemy gets free hits on you. Deck management simply isn't there and you can't plan for much beyond one or two mechanics because the enemies' mechanics are largely randomized also.
This ain't it.
This game has no right to be this good, its simple, addicting and the art style is great too, while ive only just started im already addicted to it, highly recommended for people who like balatro

Having beaten this game with every class and with over 160 hours played, I think I'm reasonably qualified to write a review. The differences among the classes make for a real challenge, but in my mind not always an especially fair one. Some classes are more susceptible to being overwhelmed early in runs than others and there's only one class that allows you to generate a wild card from game start. That means, if you don't get some RNG love in your run, you're completely screwed.
With luck, the game is challenging and fun. Without luck, you're wasting your time. On balance, though, the good outweighs the bad, with meta progression helping most classes become quite formidable. Your enjoyment of Solitarica is likely to last exactly as long as your patience on any given day. All that being said, this remains one of my go-to games and probably will for some time to come.
I play this mainly on ios and its a lot of fun. It is a pain in my ass majority of the time, but still a fun game and always makes me want to play another round.
As for as I know, this game and our game, Shadowhand, which came out a bit later were the first turn-based combat solitaire games. Though they vary in how they are played a lot. In this one the cards are the enemy's health and you must clear them to kill the enemy. Meanwhile you charge up various "spells" on the left that can be changed out and upgraded. Also the enemy often messes with the cards as part of its attacks. It's very interesting from a game design point of view. Check it out.
I like the game itself, but the newest visual design is awful. Too big icons, too much scrolling between the game versions, overflowing descriptions of icons that flow even outside if the screen. The visual size of the icons is unable to resize to the chosen screesn resolution etc. I feel like a toddler using this game: everything has to be big and flashy. If it would be possible, i'd go back to the previous design. They seem to give you some options to affect what you see, but not really.
Too much RNG, takes all the enjoyment out of the game when you can lose through no fault of your own, just a few bad draws and all the fun is replaced with frustration.

Solitairica is an addictive time-killer. The simple solitaire gameplay makes it easy to learn and super fun to master. Getting a lucky line-up of cards let's you go on a fast spree tapping through 2-3 entire layers of cards and you get coins for streaks over 10 which adds so much.
There's a plethora of interesting and unique spells and classes to choose from, ensuring there a play style for you. The enemies are very unique and fun to fight and it feels great to master fighting each one. The better you get at memorizing their abilities, the faster you can move onto the next area with ease.
Progression is the usual roguelite formula: play the game, earn premium currency to upgrade your abilities, become stronger until you can overcome the challenges thrown at you. You can upgrade each class to have unique advantages for drawing Kings or Queens. All classes have an Ace upgrade that gives you more energy when drawn and two additional inventory slots.
I love how much strategy can go into each run. You can reserve spells and items for a small fee and buy them after the next battle, you can save your coins or premium currency to buy lives, seek certain spells to create powerful combos, buy out spells you don't like to force better ones into the store's item pool, etc etc.
My only complaint is the game can be incredibly luck based at times. Some battles and even entire runs I'll get the best spells and items in the shop, and I'll get the perfect line up of cards every time to let me speed through battles, and enemies don't even get many opportunities to do anything. Other times my luck is egregious and I never get any good card line ups to make any moves, never get the right energy from cards, get weak spells and items in the shop, enemies spam powerful attacks or spawn annoying card effects, etc. The game can heavily reward good skill, but it can also just screw you over for no reason with no way for you to counteract anything.
Just about what I expected, which is good. I like these simple solitaire games with the option to think strategy a bit more, if you want to. The resolutions suck, and it takes exclusive control even when windowed. Other than that, I've had no problems.
Before I get in to this review as I'm well aware that I am needlessly wordy when writing reviews I'll give you the tl;dr here. I do like this game but it ultimately falls short due to feeling unfair at times. I'm still counting it as recommended as It's no real strain on your wallet and is really fun in small doses, but it's very repetitive and may be annoying.

As someone who is fairly unfamiliar with the roguelike genre as a whole, I'm not going to sit here and pretend like I know anything about game balance or really any of the kind of things that make this sort of game tick, but I *will* bounce off of what I have seen other people say as it does line up with my personal experience.
This game has a lot of good things going for it. The art style is cute and cartoony, the music (what little of it there is) is pleasant, the small animations look nice, the little blurbs of banjo kazooie style speech from the enemies isn't too insufferable and the game as a whole is very easy to pick up and get in to without too much of a learning curve, if any at all. If you're familiar with how to play solitaire in any capacity, you'll understand how this game works.
The problems start arising with the balance of the encounters. Now, as I said, I know little to nothing about what makes these sort of games work in terms or really anything, but I do have vague ideas about it and I know how the fights feel to me; and that is incredibly unbalanced most of the time. Even on the standard difficulty i find myself getting stuck 3 or 4 fights in most of the time due to not having enough resources to defend myself with.
Now, I am very aware that perhaps that's just me, maybe I'm just bad at the game, but again, using the insight other reviews have provided I'm inclined to think that at least partially it is not me and that there are some issues with encounter balance.
I do really love this game, but I find myself either getting sucked in to a loop of getting a few fights in and continually trying with no real progress made or I just end up getting frustrated and quitting out, and honestly that isn't a really pleasant experience. I don't regret purchasing this game, as I do play it frequently, but I am still a little disappointed by it.

This game helps you by allowing you to bend the rules of Solitaire and turning it into a sort of RPG. A very neat concept that's done well in my opinion!

ソリティアのルールも出てくるターン性コマンドバトルに近いかも。
何が面白くなかったかというと、山札をめくると敵のターンが挟まるのでソリティアの一人遊びとしてのテンポが悪くなっている点です。これが気にならない人もいると思いますが、私はリズムが悪いと思いました。
トランプのミニゲームを遊びながらローグライクのビルドを揃えてステージをクリアして行き、グラフィックや演出も丁寧に作られているし買った分は満足したので高評価です。
でもちょっと遊びにくいかな…せめてカードをめくるのと自分のライフが減るのがほぼ同時なら遊べたかもしれません。
私がやりたかったのはいつものソリティアで、ソリティアを遊んでいたらポイントがもらえて、それでアイテムを買ったりコレクションを楽しめるくらいの単純なパッケージを期待していたからだと思います。（フルーツポッチみたいな）なので、そういう人には向かないかもしれません。

Excellent card game that does have a ton of a replayability. I've played much more of the mobile version but had to own the game on steam too to play on a bigger screen sometimes. Love it.

fun easy to understand and master, not much replayability but is a nice and enjoyable casual game
This game has a really good presentation, is fun in a vacuum, and has a lot of love put into it.
But sadly, the base gameplay loop is too random to make me want to stick around. It's not like in other roguelikes where you can get a poor draw and play smartly to get out of it. You're just screwed here.

How do I put this... without boring you with too many details I had to try ECT (electro-current-therapy) which is essentially zapping the brain into having a mini stroke (each time you have a treatment and there's numerous treatments/mini strokes). My memory, passion, and intelligence were all down (noticeably and frustratingly; it annoyed me and would've annoyed those close to me). I had the memory of a goldfish (constantly putting stuff down forgetting where it was only a minute later, forgetting memories of hanging out with friends and forgetting the parts of their life stories they'd told me about). I played a lot of this game to relax, and kind of challenge/motivate me more than your average game of Solitaire. But as a side-effect/note I'm pretty sure my memory and intelligence have recovered faster than normal thanks to these kind of activities. I did a group interview for example and (without trying) filled out the aptitude test accurately and quickly being the first in the room to fill it out by five-ten minutes in some cases. The same happened a few days later with a coffee-making prac; beating everyone in the room by about 30 mins to an hour on making all the coffees! I'm not competitive in life (only in games, or competing against myself) but for someone who'd been through 12 mini strokes to be more competent than everyone else in the room- yep my quick recovery; that's definitely helped from things such as solitarica (and admittedly other brain trainers like journalling, adult dot to dot, word searches etc). I like normal solitaire, this just adds a bit more challenge. It's something fun you can do without really realising how much it might help with training your brain. So whilst normally you'd play a game like this for fun (and in my case too) I just want to say it can help a lot for those with cognitive issues.

This is a pretty satisfying, addictive game. There can be some frustration when randomness kicks your butt and you get the wrong card over and over and over and then just lose a run, but when it clicks, it clicks and it's very fun.
RNG makes it just random enough to where some runs you lose to bad card flips, others you lose because of poor money management. Greatly enjoyed 100%ing this one. Would pay full price. Hopeful for an expansion!

Little repetitive
Really wouldn't recommend. Every fight I've done as the default, the runs are all the same. There's no depth to the gameplay, it's entirely RNG-based. Sure you can try and find combos, but once you have a few of the same number it's easy to look for that pattern again.
It's kinda neat, but it seems like a tech demo. No meat on the bones of this game. Combat exists, but there's really no gameplay for you except match numbers, cast spells. Oh and you buy stuff sometimes. No trees, no branching anything, it's just "keep bashing your head against a wall that gets slightly more powerful each time you knock it down".

Just adding a +1 to what most of the other negative reviews have said better. It's a promising concept, but a good roguelike gives you ample opportunity to work around the RNG with skill or strategy - this game doesn't even try. It has no problem letting the RNG leave you completely without options, and it just ruins the game, especially when it makes it so obvious that you had no choice. Other RNG-heavy games at least telegraph their hurdles and give you time to try to work around them, even if you are screwed from the start. This game has none of that, and can kill you at any point with no options to even give the illusion of control. Solitarica has to either give the player more control over losing scenarios, or change the card-draw RNG to not be entirely random. Otherwise it's not even worth the 3 dollars or so I paid for it
At first, this game looks very promising. It's an alternative to regular solitaire games and it seems to mostly favour skill over luck which in a game like this makes sense. Well after grinding for what seems like an endless amount of hours and getting absolutely nowhere, I still haven't beaten the final boss. I only got to him once after trying at least a dozen times and it felt like the most tedious task ever on top of the fact that I could easily lose at any given point. Even the tutorial character nearly killed me multiple times with all the powerups unlocked. I learned from my mistakes and that still wasn't enough. To be quite honest, this game was starting to piss me off a little before I decided to do a review because I had 3 chances to beat the final boss on the last try and it still wasn't enough. You will often get very low level powerups late stage in the game and some of the powerups just never showed up except when they all did during the same run. It is a very infuriating game because it is tedious and grindy to the point that it feels like a pay to play game without the pay aspect. I would avoid this game like the plague unless they were to re-balance everything and fix it so you don't have to restart all the way down the ladder each time you die. I give this game a 3.5 out of 10 at most and that's only because it fools you into thinking it's going to be a great game at first.

This game is a really fun game. Quite casual compared to what i usually play. However it is very grindy and having to restart completely once you die can be a little frustrating. Maybe adding a relaxed mode where if you die you just have to replay the match you were in from the start (I know that's already a thing you can buy in game, however costs quite a few coins). Overall satisfying when you do win :D
This game brought back my solitaire addiction. 10/10.
easy to jump in n out of games
I hate Golf. Definitely my least favorite solitaire game. Not nearly as fun Freecell, Yukon, or Beleaguered Castle.
But this looked fun. I took a chance. Oh no... it's Golf.
OK. I will still give it a shot because I like the idea. Hand after hand I turn unusable cards. Game after game. The RNG is bleak. The game demands you have unplayable cards even if you have six decks. I eagerly wait for a single card I can use as the enemy just slams damage on me. It is not fun at all.

Played this over 1000+ hours on Mac platform even on Catalina without any problems. They switched to Windows only. All my apes are gone.
It's okay but very rng based. You have to play it like 4D chess to not screw yourself over. Make sure to also get the extra effect cards (you can find them when you select a deck). They are crazy op and can really turn your luck around.

A rogue-like solitaire game makes perfect sense. Excellently developed and implemented. Hours of playtime. Highly recommended!
Simple to understand and so fun. completely addictive.
11.3 hours of finally beating the first boss! Loved it all the way and can't wait to do the other decks! Yes some rounds were unwinnable but I also learned the best combo of spells and items along the way.
Great on a big sale. I wouldn't pay 10$ for it.

Great on paper. Something's missing in execution. It's like I'm rolling with RNG without any real way to improve my chances. There are many spells that do help, but the resource they use heavily rely on RNG and realistically you can't block 10 attacks in a row if you keep getting cards you can't use. Most of spells also only you a CHANCE (another RNG roll) to get past a hurdle. It starts out very easy and gradually damage enemy deals each turn increases.
Decent concept and fun for an hour or 2, but not a 10$ game.

The fact that there are people complaining about the rng of solitaire makes me fear for the future. How do these people survive in the real world? Must be millennials thinking this is a puzzle game. Every character has a unique playstyle and that is quite the accomplishment considering there are a LOT of different characters. This is an amazing interpretation of solitaire in my opinion.

I find it hard to believe the other reviews are giving this a negative "thumbs down" because of the randomness of the game... its solitaire at its core! If you play at home with a deck of cards and lose 4 times in a row, shuffling doesn't make it easier every time. There is no one way to win. There is no combination to master. There's only the ability to learn good technique and hopefully RNG doesn't get the best of you.
Pros:
1. Well balanced for each class! Devs did a great job of building all the classes and playstyles. Some items and spells work great with some classes and not with others.
2. Great implementation of the randomness of reshuffling and playing a new game of solitaire as if at home.
3. Great card villains and bosses! The randomness of how they appear in each area is great as well; its never the same time each run.
4. Sounds are good. Music has a great battle tone to it. Kinda addictive actually; really puts you in the mood to keep playing and battling.
5. Game will save anytime during a run to be picked back up later (only on the same machine though... see cons)
Cons:
1. Needs better Steam cloud save implementation. I played this game years ago and achieved every Steam Challenge available (at the time). More have been added and since I've gone back to play again on a new laptop, my entire progress is gone. Would have been more satisfactory to pick up where I left off on a new machine. Still having fun though my progress is gone, but a complete wipe of where I was is disheartening.
2. Game play can be slow even with the sped-up animations. Playing a full run could easily take an hour or more.
I recommend this game to anyone that loves a great RNG challenge where its never the same and there's no "Easy Mode" or "Masterable combo" that breaks the game. Each deck class has its own challenges and rewards. The Expert level takes the challenge even further. Play, never master, and always be challenged by a true random draw game!
I wanna like this game, but wow. It's awful in all the ways that come together, like many others have already criticized.
-Garbage luck which will frustrate you 70% of the time. How can it even be that you do not get a guaranteed match with the first card? How can it then be that you might have to give an enemy FIVE free turns at the very start of a round?
-Garbage meta progression. Oh, those shiny new cards sure would help me, and look how many other decks you can unlock AND upgrade! Wow. Shame you get so little meta currency that it'll be an absolute grindfest to get even one deck upgraded fully. Wouldn't be THAT big a deal if not for...
-Garbage variety. Pretty much I played many runs with the exact same spells, cause I don't see how at least half of them help me, and cause the same ones always show up anyway. Items are a bit better, but also mostly so unexciting that it's just making my eyes glaze over.
In conclusion, I paid 3 bucks for this on sale and I STILL regret it, mostly cause I wasted my time with this. Not MUCH time as you can see, but definitely time I could have spent with frankly better experiences.
if you get this game on a deep sale its worth it. sure there is some RNG that can be frustrating. but the MOST frustrating thing is no cloud saves. I'm gonna not recommend because of this. but if its a deep sale like now at $2.99 its worth it.
Game developers have not enabled cloud save after so many people asked for it. Their response is just they have issues and have moved on. Such a lazy response
This Game is very enjoyable for the price it is offered at, it applies alot of entertainment with minimal effort 8/10 id say. Only thing lacking is probably the fact that it doesnt include the Elden Ring DLC... So if you wanna hook ya boi up thatd be sweet :)
The randomness makes this game hard to like. It's frustrating when you have a good run killed only by not drawing a good card to use. The power ups are fine, even the added permanent upgrades are fine, but when luck can screw you over in a few rounds, it's not fun. I will not even mention the Burn + Poison + Stun which kills your run instantly.
