It's not working anymore. i haven't enjoyed this game since 3 years now because of constant crushing.
Certified hood classic. It got delisted from steam a couple months back, but had a really fun and challenging singleplayer and probably a decent multiplayer. I wouldn't know since I never did touch the multiplayer, but regardless the gameplay was great for its time and it sucks to see it go.

We've had VR for several years now and I find that I keep coming back to this game. It is one of the most fun games I have played in VR; it is a simple well executed dodge ball game. You can play against others, but the AI also poses a decent challenge if you just want to go it alone.
This isn't a bad game, and I even played with 3 others online surprisingly, but it's not great and definitely in no world would I recommend it when Rec Room exists and is free.
Just the paintball mode of Rec Room is better than Smashbox Arena. Most of it is passable except I didn't like the teleporting cancellation. You can throw down a teleporter that when it lands takes like 2 second and then will move you to that point, UNLESS you cancel it which you can do freely. This takes any strategic movement out of the game and makes it so if you mistakenly put your marker in a bad spot you caan just take it back, so when trying to corner or counterplay your opponents it just becomes about reflexes.
Rec Room is much better, and free.
One if the original VR greats! Unfortunately, it just doesn't hold up by today's 2022 standard (online you'll be playing alone with bots).

Przyjemna, szybka strzelanka 3x3, na zróżnicowanych arenach. Z ciekawie rozwiązanym systemem poruszania.
Grałem tylko z botami, ale mimo to grywalność oceniam wysoko, dobrze się bawiłem. Ludzie piszą, że boty są głupie, ale chyba nasze i przeciwnika, więc dla mnie nie było to problemem. Próbowałem, kilka razy (ale w jeden dzień) zagrać z ludźmi, ale byłem jedyny na serwerach. Mamy więc do dyspozycji dobry samouczek i tryb kampanii na 3 poziomach trudności. Kampania to jak pamiętam 10x arena, musimy wygrać każdą mapę (do skutku, gra pamięta postęp).
Przy tym braku ludzi, nie chciałbym za to zapłacić więcej, niż kilkanaście złotych. Kupiłem tanio w pakiecie, więc jestem zadowolony.

Something didn't really click with this game. It may be my aversion to teleport locomotion, it may be my lack of spacial awareness, but I think I had more fun with RecRoom's paintball than this game.
Highly recommended. A great game, easy to learn but also have some depth. Bots are good so it's still fun to play by yourself, or against bots with your friends. All power-ups and game mechanism are well designed and balanced. No motion sickness for a shooter game and the observer mod made it not boring even for people who died early in game.

Such good fun and well coded game. Shame it doesnt have many players on it as full teams of 6 would be hilarious! We need more players!
Perhaps one of the most under rated VR games. It looks cheap and clunky but when you are actually on comms with friends and playing matches its some of the best fun you can have in VR.
The movement mechanics are brilliant, the maps are built for this game with some brilliant design, its arena FPS with a strategic, extra twist in movement and bullet 'catching'. Pure genius, laughs a plenty and pure fun!
Played with Vive + wands and then also Index and Index controllers.

I didn't know about this game but having tried it, it's a lot of fun. It is a lot like Paintball in Rec Room, which has always been a blast, but this game handles teleport more strategically rather than a VR equivalent of bunny-hopping (look up Quake if you don't know that means. Because it relies on pickups, part of the skill you develop is predicting where to teleport and where you'll turn/look to get the ammo. Also a match starts up faster than Paintball. Have not tried multiplayer with this but even with just the bots it's pretty cool. Some of the graphics are dated and uneven but overall the game design is pretty solid.
At its core is a neat concept for a dodgeball minigame in VR that's great for multiplayer, but everything outside feels unpolished and outdated by today's standards. I don't hate this game, but there really isn't enough for me to recommend it, especially now that much of the player base has moved on.

The teleport movement is annoying. Weapons are annoying. Reminds me of one of the Rec Room games.
it is brilliant, creative and fun. it can become very frustrating but I still come back for more. I don't think I will ever tire of this game.
not compatible with a lot of the newer vr headsets. many like me and now left unable to play the game as the devs have given up supporting it

Index support coming soon! Dev responded to my negative review very quickly. So I already changed it to a positive one! This is an "early" PC VR title and yet to this date, SUPER DUPER FUN. I love this game. Can't wait for Valve Index support, I just can't go back to my Vive.
The game, while a lot of fun, does not support the Valve Index. On the Index you simply arrive in a black screen. You can hear all the sounds around you, but you can't see anything. This is despite the fact that the game shows Valve Index support.
Unfortunately the game doesn't work with the Valve Index headset and I can't play it. No response from the developers in the discussion forum, either.
Sorry I cannot recommend this game, as it does not have any support and may not work on your VR kit.

For me still the absolute best multiplayer VR game out there. There are some bugs that don't get fixed and to be able to play on the Index right now you need something called PseudoVive. Nothing game braking though and hopefully the Index issues get fixed in the future. Other than that this is a brilliantly designed multiplayer game with an awesome, mostly US based, community.
Where's the options to change input settings?
I play with an original Vive and due to a back injury I can't stand up to turn around I need to rotate but there's no rotate for me.
I've held left shift as the game is starting to see if I can change the input mapping but it doesn't register any inputs on the vive trackpad so if I try to play I'm stuck facing the same way
Now that it is fixed and works with WMR, it is an ok competitive game, better with friends.
Is is based on teleport + 360 turn movement of your character, I personally prefer smooth walking and smooth controller turning.
This really is one of my favorite games in VR. It's simple but really well done. The AI on Hard is actually hard and I found myself cheering on my team and really feeling it when we lost. The entire experience is tight and well executed.
This game is a must have! It has an amazing graphics and game mechanics are superb. Don't let the teleportation option put you off. Teleportation makes this game playable for those who are prone to motion sickness. And believe me when I say that. I have the worst one. Game is absolutely wonderful. It has a choice of 6 maps. Also has few game modes. If you play with your friends you will never get bored of this game because it's addictive. Would recommend this game for Gaming Arcades!

2. In game name change would be great. ( for Arcades )

Smashbox Arena is a game that anyone can easily pick up and play and have a great time. The movement is one of the best in VR. It is comfortable for everyone, but it also adds a lot to the game itself. You can fake opponents out by canceling a teleport or you can hide and wait for an opponent to fall into your trap. This game has given me some of the most exciting anxiety inducing moments in VR. If you love competitive multiplayer games, then add this to your library today.
The game is fun and cool. Easy to learn and have a good reusability. Only issue : the community is not big enough and you often end up playing against the computer (which has a behavior which is not really fun to play with)

I love this game! It was the first game I played in VR (on Vive), and now I have a Rift of my own it's just like I remember. This is like the Quake 3 of VR. It's simple mechanics make it easy to pick up and hard to master.

Für mich einer der besten VR Spiele. Der Vergleich von Polygon "Counter-Strike meets Mario Kart" ist wirklich zutreffend. Es ist nur so schade, daß so wenig Leute Online sind... Also kauft es auch im Sale und lasst es uns wiederbeleben =)
teleport only, and no smooth rotation options. Lack of locomotion gives me nausia. The choppy movement of teleport and sharp short turns is the opposite of comfortable for me.

Fantastic VR immersion game!
Although this game seems very nice I persoanlly cant play. I run a full gaming rig but everytime I play it crashes the game and my computer. Might play later when this is fixed.
Its worth the sale price of 5 dollars. There are a fair amount of people/children playing. I wouldnt pay full price, if you had been considering, buy it now. Feels like a dodgeball game with power ups.
One of the most well done multiplayer games yet to grace VR. I've had a lot of fun playing ~dodgeball with strangers all around the globe. Great game dynamics, simple, smooth motion - join in the fun!

This game is a lot of fun. The only frustration I have is there needs to be more people playing it. It's way more fun when playing with real people than when playing with the bots, even though the bots can be good.

I don't usually play multiplayer online games... but this game was just simple enough that I don't get killed within a second of starting the match. That made it a fun ejoyable experience :)

I'd give Smashbox Arena 3.5/5 stars. It's a great little multiplayer battle / arena game. It's more family friendly and cartoon-like style.
Areas for improvement:
1. I wish more people played this game, the community seems small still. The AI is alright and can provide a challenge but playing with people is more fun
2. The way that the AI difficulty is determined when there aren't enough human players is a bit off. Sometimes the AI is way too good on one team and the game is unbalanced.
Positives
1. Fun game play, good strategy
2. You usually don't need to sit 'out' too long before playing again if you're eliminated
3. Good replay value
Bottom line: It goes on sale for like $5, so definitely get this game when on sale.

버그인지 아님 애초에 없던건지 배경음악이 하나도 없어서 지금 내가 왜 이짓거리를 하고 있나 하는 자괴감이 듭니다.
전투를 하는게 아니라 스포츠를 하는 게임이라서 대단한 액션은 기대하지 않는게 좋습니다. 공도 날아오는걸 다시 잡아서 되던질 수도 있고, 상대가 공을 잡고 있을때 그쪽으로 던지면 공이 튕겨져서 맞았다 인식하지 않습니다.
텔레포트를 통해 이동하는건 좋은데 지점에 텔레포터가 닿으면 작동하는데 0.3초 정도 시간이 필요합니다. 게임을 재밌게 만드는 요소이긴 하지만 싱글플래이에선 정말 김빠지는 요소로 작용하더군요.
튜토리얼은 무슨 VR초보에게 가르치는 수준으로 구동됩니다. 조금 VR경험이 있거나 빠르게 시스템을 파악하는 사람이라면 메인화면에서 모든 조작을 다 익히고도 남습니다. 그리고 대체 왜 난이도 설정은 쉬움부터 하나씩 올라가야 하는건가요.... 저처럼 이해도가 높은 사람은 바로 어려움으로 플래이하고 싶어 하는데 말입니다.....

Fast paced multiplayer arcade dodge ball. Very well executed, and at least recently, there’s been a ton of players online, rare for a VR game. Lots of VR arcades, from the feeling I was getting. Either way, it’s fun to have people to play with, and this game is a perfect fit. Easy to learn, good fast paced non-violent action. Fun for the whole family! Thumbs: UP!

incredibly fun game, active playerbase. it's a bit like mario kart vs mode, with the best teleportation in VR. why? because they make teleporting a fun mechanic that is part of the strategy of gameplay, not a hindrance as it is in almost every other VR game.
