If you have any love for Breakout/Arkanoid style games then this is an absolute no brainer, it takes the tried and tested formula of those classics and adds enough twists to make it feel entirely fresh. The graphics, especially for a game now 16 years old, are great and the music and sound provide a suitable accompaniment to proceedings. I picked it up on sale but even at full price this should be one for your collection. I've not progressed too far into it so far, only reaching the second set of levels, but it's one I intend to be spending a lot more time.

My one criticism would be the lack of gamepad support, which was presumably available on the PS3 version, but this type of game was always better suited to a mouse and keyboard anyway. Playing with a laptop touchpad is entirely possible but not ideal.

Shatter is a fun game, can be challenging at times but very well designed. Great OST and solid sound design.
The game play is just like shown in the trailer. The controls are responsive and really compliment the fast game play. I can recommend this version (didn't play the remaster) without pause. Great and fun game.

A simple vista creía que este juego era un juego de acción con naves, pero es más parecido a un [b]Arkanoid[/b] o [b]Breakout[/b], solo que con algunos niveles con vista de costado en vez de arriba abajo y con uno que otro poder nuevo como poder soplar o atraer la pelota que lanzas, también los bloques pueden caer sobre nosotros, aturdiéndonos si nos impactan y hay batalla contra jefes.

No es tan bueno como [b]Ricochet Infinity[/b], pero entretiene.

Lo que no me gusto es que vos no elegís los niveles sino que jugas los mundos, que son una serie de niveles seguidos. Otra cosa que tampoco me gusto es que para activar el escudo y los disparos se hace con control y shift derecho en vez de control y shift izquierdo por defecto, lo peor es que para tirar multibola es con la tecla “menos” (la tecla -, la lado de la coma y el punto) y no, no se puede cambiar.

I've recently taken up the challenge of clearing some of my backlog. And finding little gems like this makes it worthwhile.

In the screenshots, the game looks simple and nothing special. But once you are in-game, it quickly shows its true colours.

I was not expecting actual boss battles in a game like this.
Also has a few extra game modes. It's not a type of game you will spend hours playing in one sitting, more like complete one level a day or something.

I'm not sure how easy it is to achieve 100% of the achievements. Some of the point requirements seem quite high.

For under £2, you can't go wrong.

玩家操控的平台除了移动接弹珠，还能主动释放吸引、排斥技能影响弹珠和场上砖块的移动轨迹、在利用弹珠破坏砖块之外也有护盾（消耗能量条）、射击(需要攒满能量条才能使用）功能用于防御和破坏。并且可以主动消耗生命向场上释放额外的弹珠，配合各种类型的场地和砖块打得眼花缭乱。
游戏最有意思的还是每个关底的BOSS战。通关故事模式之后也能游玩BOSS RUSH模式，打得很爽。

Shout out to one of my all time favorite OST's. The music is sick in this game. Gameplay is also very fun with about 4-6 hours of content. It gets a bit janky with some of the controllers, especially how the magnet push/pull things work but worth a couple dollars for sure.

For the kind of price this game is being sold it's hard to critique it, but still, I cannot shake off the feeling of slight disappointment. Maybe I shouldn't have been comparing this to Ricochet Infinity, since they are obviously different games, but regardless, I would not call this game perfect.

Pros:
1. Music is awesome
2. Multiple modes to enjoy, including co-op
3. Fun levels, for the most part
4. Very affordable price

Cons:
1. Bosses are hit-and-miss
2. Ball is maneuverable, but the way it's done is not intuitive
3. Power-ups are practically non-existing
4. Story mode is very short

Brick breaker games are hard to get right, and this one doesn't get it right. Half the game is just holding "blow",

Un Breakout/Arkanoid no muy complejo, con diferentes modos, algún poder especial, como empujar o acercar la bola para cambiar su trayecto, aunque no hay mucha diversidad en los tipos de niveles. La música pega bastante bien con las partidas frenéticas que te encuentras a veces. En el modo historia, el juego es bastante generoso con las vidas extras si te quedan pocas.

Lo más destacable y entretenido son las batallas contra los diferentes jefes, cada uno con su debilidad particular. En unas 3 horas podeis completar el modo historia sin mucho problema. Por el precio que tiene de 1 eurillo y medio, no esta nada mal para estar entretenido un rato, y si os quedais con ganas de más, siempre tenéis los modos contrarreloj e infinito.

Shatter is a decent but dated brick breaker game. It has a few new mechanics to set itself apart from Arkanoid and for it's age the graphics are decent. That said, the game is more than a bit clunky to get into and does not seem to support controllers despite my best efforts and Xbox controllers being listed as suported on the Steam page. If you like Arkanoid clones, this might be worth a spin, but it just felt underwhelming for me. I'm not going to recommend this one just because it is not a smooth experience in 2024. I dont hate it, not by a long shot, I just cant suggest it over other (even low cost) games.

Shatter is an older console game from 2010. It's a venerable 14 years old at the time of this review. It's a ripoff of Breakout/Arkanoid with a gimmick that allows you to attract/repel the ball as it bounces around, but this gimmick is more annoying than contributive to the ancient, dead genre.

Another notable thing here is that despite this being such an old game, it was ported to mobile app stores as a free mobile app, yet the developers expect PC gamers to pay them for something that's free on other platforms.

From a technical perspective, as something that now qualifies as a mobile app, this doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard on modern PC games.

The developers didn't design the game for modern gaming PCs, as such the display resolution caps out at 1080p, a very low resolution that became mainstream back in 2006 and became obsolete when 4K entered the mainstream in 2014. The game simply won't look right on modern gaming displays due to this failure on the part of the developers.

These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.

So, should you buy this mobile app? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam?

Once more we see greedy mobile devs trying to scam PC gamers. On Steam, this is $2 USD, on app stores, it's free. Mobile devs must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay a premium for a free mobile app just because it's been lazily dumped on Steam. This is unacceptable disrespect for PC gamers. Because this can be played free elsewhere, and because of the other defects, it's impossible to recommend.

After this game spent over a decade chilling in my Steam library thanks to a Humble Bundle of years past, I finally decided to give it a go. I regret not giving this game a chance sooner - this game is awesome! An easy-to-learn, hard-to-master arcade mashup of Pong, Breakout, and shmups with a killer soundtrack and great boss battles. A true pick-up-and-play gem that still holds up to this day.

A tremendous brick breaker with fantastic music, a great look, and a great feel. The blow/suck (lol), shield, and frenzy mechanics all add interesting wrinkles to the game play. Turns out smashing bricks can still be an awesome time in 2023!

Want a brick breaker where pong is a boss battle?
-[b]Good visuals.[/b] Pretty shapes with neon glows and backgrounds with beautiful, abstract ed effect backgrounds based on what I guess is the sub atomic realm (With nice dynamic transitions between levels if they can cause eye itch)
-[b]Brilliant, mostly electro, music[/b] with some funk and other accents thrown in... IT MAKES THE GAME!!!
-[b]Great brick breaking action[/b] with new mechanics and touches to freshen things up (Vacuum and blower in your paddle to move score fragments and loose floating blocks around, spending lives for optional extra balls and more points, circular levels etc.)
-[b]Unique[/b] because this genre has gone out of fashion
-[b]No story[/b]or distractions. It's just a pure, brilliant example of the genre
-[b]Samescreen co-op[/b] for 2 players (Has split pad play)

Practical concerns:
-[b]Bad value for money[/b] for me (R9.00/ $1.00/ £0.85 per hour of gameplay)
-[b]Very small download size[/b] (Takes up 140 Mb on the harddrive)
-Easy to run
-Stereotypically kid friendly (Just colours and shapes but there may be eye itch)

This is the only version of breakout that is actually fun. Being able to adjust the trajectory of the ball is genius. Has great boss fights and a fabulous soundtrack, as well.

Easily the best in genre. Plays like it was made for gyroscopic controls and one of the best Steam Deck games. Perfect length campaign that knows how to vary the gameplay and when to end. Many great optional modes, including same-screen co-op, for those who want more. Visuals and sounds fit the game-feel like a glove. Textbook example of excellent design all around, which makes this an exceptionally rare quality of game.

SHATTER is a good brickbreaker type game with a nice twist on the genre and boss fights that are pretty much astoundingly good.
The bending walls/fall boundry can be a little weird, and a lot of the time the combo brickbreak/gun mechanics feel a bit clunky, but overall the game is extremely good for what it is. If you won't want to play a brick break game with a shinier coat of paint, why are you here?

I played this a ton on PS3. Best Breakout clone ever made. Also, one of the best game OSTs ever made, particularly if you like electronica. Absolutely unbelievable the effort that went into this, now going for 1.99? Unreal.
