RPG Tycoon, developed by Skatanic Studios and published by Macrocosmic Software, is an unusual blend of fantasy role-playing themes and classic tycoon-style management. Game is very unclear in what it wants from you, very easy to lose the game just by following the tutorials. Throws a whole bunch of mechanics and statistics as you and explains nothing. Good game in theory, but in execution it leaves much to be desired.

Ich würde das Spiel gerne mögen, aber es lässt mich nicht. Ich habe jetzt schon zwei Spielstände, die einfach nicht mehr starten. Und ständig von vorne anzufangen, macht jetzt auch nicht sooo Spaß. Auch, wenn ich eigentlich erst angefangen hatte. Den späteren Content (sollte es ihn denn geben) durfte ich so noch nicht mal sehen.
Kurzum: Das Spiel ist buggy. Beim ersten Spielstand blendete sich ein Overlay nicht mehr aus. Es blieb ohne Hintergrund mittig zentriert, sodass ich nichts anderes mehr machen konnte. Als ich das Spiel neustarten wollte, ging der Spielstand nicht mehr. Beim zweiten Spielstand sind in die Ecken der Karte Häuser geglitcht und da der Speicherstand jetzt auch nicht mehr läd, schätze ich, es liegt daran.
Das Spiel würde eigentlich Spaß machen! Man zieht ein kleines Pixeldorf hoch, sorgt für Einkaufsmöglichkeiten um Geld zu verdienen, stellt Helden an und schickt sie auf Missionen (wo man sogar den passenden Reiseproviant für unterschiedliche Questarten herausfinden UND in der richtigen Reihenfolge (1-6) "einpacken" muss, was ich als eine gute Idee empfinde), nimmt Siedlungen ein, die es upzugraden und zu beschützen gilt, und verbessert sein Königreich, um neue Gebäude freizuschalten.
An sich wirklich cool, aber durch diese Gambreaking-Bugs, die auch wohl leider nicht mehr gefixt werden, da das Spiel ewig keine Updates bekommen hat, ist "RPG Tycoon" so leider nicht spielbar.

I had to repeatedly press 3 because my game speed kept resetting to x1 instantly, I was just trying to heal up to start my first epic quest, Thought maybe a reloading will solve it.
Upon reloading my fresh save I got the Welcome to the tutorial message, blah blah, Click okay to close it, anndd...
Main menu, Might try again, Maybe.
Would recommend the game if developer simply fixed the bug that doesn't allow you to load save files. One crash and your run is done. Was enjoying it otherwise.

For $10 its not horrible. Download the demo. the Demo is actually better than the game IMO. if you liked the demo a lot you will probably like the game. but there is almost nothing more to the game than the demo. The demo literally shows you everything this game does, and the game is very "railroady" to progress you have to do things in the exact order it tells you which means city customization is super minimal. good for like 2-3 hrs if you are bored. little to no reply value.

Economy balance is far too inconsistent to allow players to make meaningful choices, plan for expansion, or signal the impact of events.
Fun game with a lot of potential, but littered with bugs that can ruin entire playthroughs. Unless these are fixed, I can't recommend it.

This game was okay but, it was super buggy and very boring for how much time you'd need to put into it for 100%.
It's a ok game to just spend a little time on here and there but last I played it was a incomplete and buggy mess, I'd say check other reviews and discussions before purchasing this game.
First of all; do not buy this game.
It is actually pretty fun, and I wish the game properly functioned, but it does not. I tried to play this on two different devices (both a gaming PC and a gaming Laptop), and both times it just randomly broke the save file and from there on all progress was entirely lost. This makes it basically impossible to win or complete the list of achievements, and above all it is just really infuriating to just lose your save file for absolutely no reason.
I do not mind a bug here or there, especially with indie developers. but don't support a developer that refuses to fix their save file glitch over the course of four years time, then it is just a blatant cash grab release.
This game has a real potential and could've been great... if it was ever finished. I do return to it from time to time and think I will continue to do so, but it hasn't been updated in years and I'm starting to lose hope it ever will. Among other issues, the save itself is buggy as well, and reopening old saves results in black screen, so I definitely can't recommend to buy it until it's updated.
Broken, buggy, crashes, ruined save files, stupid achievements, and terrible graphics. I should add, the bugs are actually game breaking. I've just had a world I spent nearly 4 hours on, just turn dead. I load up the game, and it's a black screen. All the past save files are dead too. People have reported this, and the devs do nothing, because they've moved on. It's a dead game, and they left it broken.
Also, while there is a kind of tutorial now, there are many things that aren't explained (it's actually a fairly complicated game), and this includes aspects of basic gameplay. For example, I've gone quite far in my first game, and I am only now finding out that what buildings you place are affected by what's near them. This is never explained, or even hinted at. Only place I've seen anything about this is in one of the last researches you do, and it doesn't even elaborate on what this means. That's the kind of game this is. A very complicated game, where you can see a lot of thought has been put into the mechanics, but it's executed poorly, with bad/no explanations, tons of bugs, etc.
Another case of a small developer thinking their game is the best thing in the world, so they create achievements that add artificial gameplay length to the game. For example, you can send your heroes on quests, that's cool! You gotta set up the quest properly, and then wait for them to come back, and check out their results. All of that is awesome. However, there's an achievement to do the FIVE HUNDRED TIMES. That's stupid. If I were to just sit here, over and over again sending heroes, doing nothing else other than that, it would take like 10 hours. In just normal gameplay, I've played 3 hours, and I've probably done maybe 15, so at normal gameplay rates, it'll take like 100 hours. That's just so stupid, and it seems all devs nowadays are doing dumb junk like this, and it's making me saltier than an amusement park pretzel.
The graphics are bad, and not just indie dev bad. They look terrible, ruin the feeling of the game, and the animations are bad too. The UI is also quite garbage looking, and it's a very UI intensive game. Overall, the general feel of the game is very low quality, and ruins the depth of the management.
The actual management in the game is quite unique, and I generally like it. There's tons of problems with it, but overall the basic idea is really cool, and I think management/city builder devs can learn a few things from playing it (which was basically my goal here). For example, having supplies you need to bring to quests, and you gotta figure out which supplies work, and which slot they work best in. It's basically a way of working the classic "Mastermind" board game into your game, which I love. The research, resource management, hero training/quests, all work really well together, making it interesting.
Idea molto bella, esecuzione pessima. La grafica a cuboni ci sta anche, è pur sempre un gioco indie e ha il suo stile sotto questo punto di vista. Si lascia giocare e a tratti appassiona, ma purtroppo benchè io abbia aspettato anni per degli aggiornamenti prima di recensire, ci sono due problemi insormontabili che mandano in malora tutto il progetto: 1) si gioca contro altri domini: ora, forse sono io, ma è praticamente impossibile stare dietro ai punteggi virtuali che fanno gli avversari gestiti da CPU. E' un gioco a tempo, e si perde sempre, con distacchi siderali e incolmabili nonostante l'affinamento delle strategie. 2) Ho ricominciato varie volte, ma sempre, ad ogni partita, arrivo ad un certo punto dove dopo aver salvato, non è possibile riprendere il file salvato: pare caricarlo, si sente la musica di fondo ma lo schermo è total black. E si lascia stare dopo mille tentativi. Un gioco così, non solo buggato, ma con bug così strutturali, per quanto ben pensato... purtroppo non ha motivi di esistere nè di venire acquistato a qualsiasi cifra, con qualsiasi sconto.

-Reloading a game with a hero sleeping means they permanently stay in the house and you cannot get them back.
Abandoned by the dev, shame. I've owned it for a long time, just didn't play it previously as it was extremely barebones, now I cannot play it because of the sheer amount of game breaking bugs.
If the dev had [b]any[/b] sense, he'd release the code for the community to fix it, since he's moved onto making a new game.

The idea of this game is great, run a town, send out adventuerers, earn money. The largest issue is that you can't come back and play the game later, every reload will eventually just give you a black screen. The developer stopped patching the game years ago, and is working on a new one, so this issue won't be getting fixed. I'd recommend this game if it's on a very cheap sale, and you think yo ucan get all of the achievements in one playthrough.

I would give this game 5 stars because it is a good and entertaining game. However, if you try to load a saved game, all you get is a black screen with a cursor and music. It is stupid that I have to start a new game every time I want to play and never shut the game down. Dev please fix this. i played through my 2 hours so I cant ask for a refund and I am feeling like I have wasted my money.
There's a lot of crashes which makes the game unplayable. If you can pass around that, game is somewhat enjoyable.
The game was great until about year three. Bugs started to appear, mostly black screens for the hero screen and one other. I overlooked it until I went to play today. Upon loading the game, I get a black screen. Quitting and loading again doesn't work. I was enjoying the game up until the bugs appeared

This game is quite fun but unfortunately it's a little unplayable at the moment due to all the bugs; I'll randomly have hero's disappear, so they can't go on quests and if I do send them on a quest without noticing they're not on the map I can't cancel the quest I sent them on, as well as a black screen whenever I try to load my game. It's a cute game but it needs to be fixed.
I wanted to love this game, but sadly its unplayable. (I have been trying since 2016)
The save feature breaks the game most of the time.
Often when I try to reload the game I get a black screen with just my cursor. If this happens there is no retrieving the save file and say goodbye to your game.
If you save the game while your heroes are on a quest it ALWAYS erases all progress and sends them back to town.
If you save the game while your heroes are resting or healing it breaks their progress and they stay there forever. You cannot fire them or use them as the game says they are busy.
So unless you can play the game in one sitting you will likely have major issues.
Now if your very stubborn and manage to try and play through the game DON’T EVER send more than 2 heroes to heal or rest as if you do they get perma locked in resting/healing forever and you can’t unlock them. You can’t fire them, you can’t use them, and you can’t delete their homes. You just have to keep paying them forever! YAY!
The UI is terrible; often times you will get half of the popup screens locked on your screen with the background missing. The only way to get of it is to figure out which screen it is and open it again(which loads a blank popup) and immediately close it.
Save and Exit does not work, instead it saves the game then you need to click it a second time to actually exit.
Quest options are often greyed out with no explanation as to why they are greyed out.
With perks your heroes can roll up to 7 dice which the game clearly shows, however it only counts 6 dice and doesn’t ever even roll the 7th.
All in all just stay away from this game. Total cash grab.
P.S. I have reported and even sent in save files to the devs over the years and they still have the same issues.
P.P.S. I do not own the DLC as I was unwilling to purchase it as they never fixed the base game. It's possible they fixed these issues for owners of the DLC, but I doubt it and if they only fix it for DLC owners that's beyond terrible.

I bought this game years ago when it was still "early access", but honestly after revisiting it, its still the same empty, boring, lackluster game that I simply assumed "would get fleshed out and better", but no. And as you can see from the update history, they havent done anything with this game or taken any of the community feedback in years.

RPG Tycoon неиграбельна. Вы, конечно же, можете попробовать поковыряться часик в наборе скучноватых и мало связанных друг с другом игровых механик, после чего игра вылетит с ошибкой, навсегда угробив сохранение. Одного этого достаточно для того, чтобы воздержаться от покупки.
Что там с геймплеем? Ну, у нас как бы есть Королевство, которое соревнуется с четырьмя другими Королевствами. Кто наберет больше очков к концу игровой партии (20 игровых лет = примерно 8 часов), тот лучше всех и получит за это ачивку. Очки выдаются за золотой запас в казне, за большое количество квестов, за расширение территории, за благоустроенность выделенного земельного участка. Чтобы делать квесты и зарабатывать деньги, мы нанимаем Героя, которого отправляем в Квест, проходящий в автоматическом режиме без участия игрока. Чтобы расширять территорию и покупать цветочные горшки, мы тратим заработанные Героем деньги на выкуп близлижайшей земли, чтобы было где строить фонтаны. Еще можно строить магазины, чтобы искатели приключений со всего света, пришедшие посмотреть на фонтаны, оставили Королевству денежек в казну.
Вроде бы напоминает нормальные тайкуны, вроде Theme Park, скажем, да?

1) Вам дают два квадратных сантиметра земли, на которых вы можете построить только домик для Героя и палатку первой помощи, где он будет зализывать раны.
2) Вы даете Герою квест и ждете две минуты, пока он принесет вам первые деньги и "экспу" Королевства, чтобы вы с левел апом открыли возможность купить себе еще два квадратных сантиметра земли.
3) Вы думаете, что все, можно развернуть строительство таверн и кузнечных лавок, украсить все деревьями и вырыть пруд с уточками? Нет. Игра требует, чтобы вы потратили землю на строительство еще нескольких барраков для наемных Героев, чтобы первого нанятого отправить в обычные квесты, а вторую компанию из двух и более чуваков подрядить на ЭПИЧЕСКИЕ квесты.
4) Вы ждете еще по пять минут, чтобы наконец-то накопить денег для открытия киоска с шаурмой и понимаете, что земля закончилась. Вы тратите деньги на расширение границы и ждете, пока намайнится еще золотишко. Про украшательства и дорогие пошире уже речи особо и не идет, потому что тупо некуда воткнуть.
Можно ли снарядить несколько команд Героев, чтобы одновременно выполнялось несколько квестов? Нельзя. Один боец выступает сольным номером на быстрых квестах, одна команда из скольки угодно пацанов решает эпический квест.
Можно ли назначать цены в магазинах или, скажем, как в Theme Park, разбавлять газировку большим количеством льда, чтобы экономить на продуктах? Нельзя. Магазинчик левел апается и получает апгрейд, который можно потратить на цену товара или качество товара, но это происходит раз в миллиард лет.
Что еще есть из геймплея? Не может же все быть настолько примитивным? Ну... Стартуя быстрый квест, вы должны дать Герою снаряжение в дорогу.

Эту часть игры можно сравнить с GameDev Tycoon, где вы должны выбрать консоль, на которую будет разрабатываться игра, а затем подобрать к ней подходящий жанр, соотношение графики/геймплея и подходящие фичи, вроде сохранения и мультиплеера. Скажем, на Gameboy подойдут казуалки с фокусом на геймплей, а сонибоям боевички подавай. В RPG Tycoon чуть проще и менее креативно: нужно просто из 30 доступных предметов выбрать шесть нужных и в правильном порядке. Если все угадали, золота дадут больше. Интересно ли искать комбяшки? Да, вполне. Особенно добавляют интереса, в которых нужных ключевых предметов может быть всего пять или четыре, но игра обязательно требует шесть, и приходится перебирать все подряд спортивного азарта ради.
А что с ЭПИЧНЫМИ квестами? Ну, там просто время от времени всплывают текстовые квесты, где вам нужно выбрать вариант развития событий. Скажем, "Герои шли, шли, шли, а потом подумали, пойти им через лес или по пляжу". Правильного варианта ответа нет - игра в любом случае заставит кидать кубик на проверку одной из шести характеристик выбранных Героев. Выиграли? Ну хорошо, когда таймер квеста выйдет, получите больше награды. Не получилось? Не будет бонуса.
Собственно, все. Нанимаемые Герои имеют классы, которые отвечают за стартовый набор параметров, но никакого смысла заниматься сбором пати вообще нет, потому что через два часа у всех будут максимальные статы во всех категориях. Соответственно, геймплей с квестами выглядит следующим образом:
1) Вы нанимаете Героев и немедленно отправляете их в квесты.
2) Как только Герои вернутся, отправляйте их обратно в квесты.
3) Успешность вашего Королевства и доход в казну определяется скоростью, с которой вы успеваете отправлять вернувшихся с квестов Героев обратно на квесты.
Очень весело, да?
Что с торговлей? Да вообще ничего. Как уже сказал, стройте магазинчик и получайте поток недовольных покупателей, которым не нравится качество товаров. Следующий левел ап будет на 180 покупателях, но вы его уже не дождетесь. Дело в том, что у гостей Королевства наглухо сбит GPS: они в состоянии дойти только до первой лавки, которую вы построите. Даже если вы отстроите целую торговую империю в глубине подконтрольной зоны, ни одного покупателя там не будет, потому что болванчики наглухо застрянут на свежепостроенных участках дороги.
Помогут ли вам тропинки в две полосы вы не успеете выяснить - игра к этому моменту крашнется. Вы, наверное, думаете, что это не проблема, ведь игра услужливо записывает аж пять разных автосейвов (неплохая идея, кстати)? Напрасно. После перезагрузки из них работать будет в лучшем случае один рандомный. Как можно при таком раскладе закончить партию я понятия не имею.
В общем...
У разработчика почти получилось сделать игру. Геймплей здесь примитивный, но в целом может недолго порадовать любителя Idle-игр, где вам нужно большую часть времени сидеть и смотреть как копятся ресурсы, изредка принимая какие-либо игровые решения. Графика здесь в лучшем случае приятная, а саундтрек совершенно не запоминается. Наконец, разработчик почти взялся за ум и исправил баги, которыми была напичкана гринлайт-версия игры. Теперь она хотя бы вообще может запоминать игру, а вылеты случаются не каждые пять минут, а всего лишь раз в три часа.
Но "почти" не считается. Любителя настоящих стратегий и тайкунов игра толком развлечь не может, ее художественная ценность близка к нулю, а многочисленные глитчи ставят крест на попытках хотя бы одну партию доиграть до конца.
Что касается дополнения Supply&Demand, то оно окончательно добивает RPG Tycoon. Формально геймплей становится разнообразнее: все здания теперь требуют ресурсов на свое содержание, так что приходится строить фермы, лесопилки и каменоломни, чтобы обеспечивать пассивный приток сырья. Причем каменоломня так же будет требовать свежих стройматериалов с лесопилки, а лесорубы не прочь подкрепиться яблочком из сада. Приходится мастерить хитрые производственные пирамиды, чтобы предложение перекрыло спрос. Однако проблема с ограниченной землей под строительство никуда не делать, и пока вы будете высчитывать сколько пашен перекроют запросы литейного цеха, вам придет годовой отчет со статистикой компьютерных оппонентов, которые набирают такие огромные запасы золота, словно (наверняка) их все эти механики вообще никак не касаются. Как можно победить в игре, если у твоего противника доход примерно 10k в секунду, а ты едва сводишь концы с концами?
И самое противное, в игре даже не предусмотрели кнопку, чтобы все это отключить. Придется убирать галочку с DLC еще в меню Steam.

Either this game is harder than I thought it would be or I am terrible at it! Either way I actually really enjoy it, it isn't easy and it has a fun, quirky sense of humour. I would definitely check it out if you like simulation/tycoon type games.
All that being said there are some drawbacks like getting random equipment and not getting anything useful for your quests for a long time, so repeating quests with the same useless items and not progressing fast enough to avoid becoming bankrupt, or there is a way and as I mentioned I am bad at the game!
all in all I would purchase this game again, I have spent some time having fun with this!
RPG Tycoon has a very interesting premise as a town building tycoon based in a fantasy setting. You compete with other towns controlled by AI. It's rather unapologetic when it comes to learning the game. The tutorials teach you the basics which will help you play the game for a while but eventually the AI will overtake you and you won't really understand why without time investment and studying the game mechanics. Overall, the gameplay is really fun but you do eventually come to find that it's actually really one-dimensional. While you have many options, there's really only one right way to play if you intend to win.
The game also has a large problem with bugs that just make it unplayable. I genuinely enjoyed playing the game but I got discouraged from playing because the amount of gameplay breaking bugs, crashes, and corrupted save files I endured. There is virtually no chance that you will be able to complete a medium length game because the save will most likely corrupt before you can ever finish. While you may think it's possible to do it in one session without a save, you would be surprised by how often the game crashes not able to handle the weight of it's own processes.
I wouldn't recommend this game to most people. If you are genuinely really interested in the gameplay, I would tell you to consider it. Just keep in mind that the most time you will get out of this game is probably 5 hours, if you are undeniably attracted to the premise of the game. Ultimately, you will fall out with this game and it will just begin collecting dust in your Steam library.
It takes months of in-game time for heroes to recover and heal up, during which you make no money whatsoever, so you'll run out of funds rather quickly. Some of the sounds are so high-pitched and loud that they physically hurt, even if you lowered the volume to 25%. Overall, it's just a bad game, and the only reason I played it was because Steam made me pick a game for the Spring Cleaning Event, and this one was the smallest.

It's a fun little game but the save files always eventually get corrupted, making it impossible to play through. It's been that way for at least a year now and I don't think it's getting fixed at this point.
Abandoned game with lots of bugs, don't buy!
I really fell into the 'RPG' and 'Tycoon' of this game, or at least the idea of it... The issue that I have, aside from bugs, is that the game is almost played exactly the same way every time. There isn't enough diversity or randomness to make one choice better than another or to reward the player to try a different style. Good thought, but felt rushed.
I picked this game up while it was still in early access; it was a promising concept, the typical Tycoon play loop with a fantasy RPG flavor. How could you mess that up?Most of my hours are from the early access phase, having briefly revisited it after the “full” release.
Initially the main menu featured small text bubble blurbs (like Minecraft), one of them reading something like “shut up, it’s not done yet” (I also recall reading something from the developers to the tune of “don’t complain about our unfinished game, go play a complete one if that’s what you want”) which triggered my Spider Senses. I enjoyed my first play through though, so I didn’t refund. The game could’ve used some work but surely it would improve with a little bit of time. It’s not like the graphics were a big focus, so the development team could focus all of its energy on the gameplay. There were plenty of bugs, some performance issues, and the core mechanics seemed like they could use some ironing out (you couldn’t, or rather can’t, even completely rotate buildings). Well, the game got its “full” release maybe one or two updates after I set it down.
It honestly seems worse coming back to it in terms of its bugs and performance issues. It’ plays slow, with artificial challenge (you either win big or you lose because the core gameplay is completely unrefined and the numbers are entirely unbalanced) and little of actual interest to do for long periods (yes, there is busy work that keeps you clicking but you really don’t care much about it). The negative attitude of the developers toward early criticism really should’ve been an indicator of what was to come, but it really makes their abandonment of this project that much worse. I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone else mention it, because it really is the most insulting aspect of this whole thing, right next to the inclusion of DLC for a blatantly unfinished piece of abandonware. In fact, the latter is absolutely unforgivable, even at the product’s low price point. It’s a classic example of the early access model’s flaws.
TL;DR- Terrible developers leave their otherwise promising game unfinished, then release DLC for it. Do not buy.

I probably wouldve recommended this game if it didnt feel incomplete at the core, it gets old pretty fast, the other downside is they had to go and release dlc for their incomplete game that just changes and adds some things that shouldve just been done to the core game. I appreciate the lower price of the dlc if it didnt just feel like what shouldve been implemented to begin with.
Sadly i recommend picking up this game on sale but current price is a slap in the face for how they are handling the game itself.

Years later, more hours logged in, i stand by my review... it feels incomplete for any level of a tycoon game... it plays like a "Game tycoon" like sim in the sense of guess what proper combination of items (AND ORDER) that you need for your adventure... god forbid if you pack that map before them weapons on a fishing trip! Not really any desire for replayability. Hell the only point to leveling your heroes is to go off and do more of the same idle repetitive quests. Then stare at the progress bar of the quest till you get slapped with one of their "random events" which you generally pick the circumstance that favors your heroes... intelligent approach if theyre smart, brute force if their beefy. Thats it.
Success contributes to settlement popularity which is just used to ensure you can keep YOUR town going income wise. Beyond that the other settlements are just one more thing to micromanage just to keep your own town going.
You can certainly sustain your own town without their help right? Absolutely... if you spam quests and have enough heroes to make up for the others resting... which costs more of course.
Put em to work in the tavern... probably the laziest form of contributing a hero to the town businesses themselves. Their skills contribute in no way to the businesses let alone types... for example brute force could make good blacksmiths... naw theyre basically a fill in slot to make it hardly more efficient.
This game was definitely just a cheap attempt to get budget to go do other stuff. I hate to encourage microtransactions but this game shouldve been a free game with microtransactions slapped in because there isn't much of an independent offline single player game here...

This game is fun, but it shouldn't be on steam store. It is so buggy you will not be able to complete one run.
This game is buggy and abandoned. You'll get to the point where the game characters stop moving entirely until you pause/unpause, and you won't be able to load that game again -- you can click load, and you're welcomed to your kingdom, but then the game immediately dumps you back to the main menu.
Don't bother buying this game. Whilst it was fun participating in all the new updates during the Early Access, the game has been abandoned by the developers leaving behind an unfinished game with bugs.
The idea of this should be fun. Hell, I've come up with a similar game idea, however, much like that idea this game feels somewhat unfocused, but it's hard to pin down exactly where the lack of focus is.
Missions are boring and what's worse, despite having extra heroes you can't complete multiple quick quests. Epic ones I understand the limit on but the small irritating ones? Anyway, with this game there's a heavy leaning towards management where the quick quests require you to pick what kinds of items to take with you for the quest, such as fishing. Yes, fishing is a quest, along with looking after children and such which I wouldn't call quests so much as chores. Luckily there's a helpful tab to remind you what you took last time, but it has the annoying element where not only do you have to guess the right equipment, but they must be ranked correctly in the 6 slots. Items in the wrong slots, but were correct items are highlighted blue, correct slot and item is green, wrong item is red and it reminds you of the reds, but you have to check the past history to see which ones were blue so you can guess if something wasn't 3 maybe it was 5 or 1 or 2, etc. Getting these correct raises the amount of reward you get.
I also feel the space they give you is far too small, mostly because, the terrain gets in the way, but you can't just delete things like trees because apparently your kingdom needs to look attractive, however that deteriorates over time so you end up instead of buying shops to get more massive gold (that you have to also spend on maintenance of all buildings) but buying trees or benches because the people who arrive want to be impressed. It feels less like building a settlement with heroes, like Kingmaker from Paizo, but, building a adventurer themed theme park and that wouldn't be so bad, apart from how new expansions always double in price and are filled with trees, lakes and other annoying terrain that can get in your way and make this less off a game and more like work.
I really wanted to love this game, the idea of having heroes go on quests and building a settlement from the funds they bring back can be a really cool idea, but I just found it boring over time and quite irritating when I keep getting messages about the place no longer looking attractive or being in negative with the gold and the blandness of the missions just makes it feel more like you're sending people out to collect money and waiting for them to come back, not, sending out parties on quests to succeed, however, it would be very difficult to attempt this and come up with enough different quests I guess, but the restrictions certainly don't help.
Maybe one day I'll have an answer for a better set up, however for the moment I can't think up one, besides that I found the game pretty boring. It was like someone tried to make both Theme Park and tried to tie park progression to a bunch of random characters you have no interest in, but they keep demanding more money off you being less of an addition to the game and more of a distraction from the other elements.
I backed RPG Tycoon years ago when it first entered Early Access. At the time, the game had a promising premise about managing a fantasy kingdom, a proper version of Majesty. Unfortunately, the game seems to still be riddled with bugs that make playing the game difficult.
it's a fun addicting managment/city building game with a sim management aspect involving things like quests and hero needs. i personally enjoy it and it's a game i come back to from time to time. 8/10

A resonably good game for the most part, however game crashes, odd bugs and a black screen on attempting reload saves after a crash have ruined the experience. I have not managed to complete a single game I have started. If not for these issues I would recommend this game

Very good simulator of hero village. Recrutin' heroes, giving them stuff and sending on mission. Gettin' cash by building proper buildings. And so on, and so go on. You buy more terrain and build more houses and schops. Expand and do quests to victory. Nice music and simple graphic.

Good, fun game with great concepts I enjoyed playing. HOWEVER, the bugs are really terrible. Heroes would get stuck in buildings, customers stuck unable to visit shops and many more. Unless that is fixed, no point to play really
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. That is fair warning. I have had RPG Tycoon since it was in early access. I decided to install and play it last week. It worked fine the first few days, by on Friday all I got was a blank screen. Can't open any of my saved games. Devs have abandoned this game. Other Gamers have also tried contacting the Devs, but no success.
A shame really cause it was fun to play when I could get it to play. 2/10. Two thumbs way down. I am so disappointed.
It's a great start to a game, but the last update was a year ago. The game is not complete and full of bugs. If the developer actually worked on the game I would recomend it. All that said, the game is not worth your money.

This game seems like it could be a lot of fun. There are a lot of elements to like, but every time you start to play, it crashes over one bug or another. Every time it auto saved, it locked up and had to be shut down and restarted, so I turned auto save off. Then trying to play the game itself, it froze and crashed. Then trying to save later on, it froze again and had to be restarted.
I paid for this game because it's within my favorite genres, and I'd gladly kill hours in this game were it fixed, but right now? I would not recommend this game for anyone.
I love the game itself and it was super enjoyable to play. But the problem was that up to a certain point pretty far into the game it wouldn't let me load my save. I have about 2 days on this game, and multiple saves that i can't access for that reason. I also encountered a bug where adventurers would queue for my shops yet not buy anything and because there were people in queue the other NPCs couldn't buy anything. Great game but i wouldn't play if the game wouldn't save my files not to mention how buggy it is.
Critical functionality in the trading post (purchasing resources) seems to be broken, preventing game progression. Without the ability to purchase basic materials, you can't build the production facility for the resources...Can't recommend a game where you can't play past the very first kingdom upgrade due to an inability to purchase or create resources.
I encounter a bug where visitors queue to use the store, but no one uses it. I can't make money and I don't see any way to fix this.

I was really getting into the game but it randomly crashes and sometimes if I try and load from a save, the scree is just black... but you can hear things still happening in the background.
