amazing game, sandbox is broken though
Protect Basingstoke!
Still just as good as it was an eternity ago
Ok that's it. What a bad game. What's the balancing here??? Each level you get less cash to defeat more difficult opponents. Oh and for "tower defense": They don't follow the path but stray away from it to destroy all your buildings. Beware of bosses: They don't give a single fuuuu...ngus about paths, or buildings, they just walk straight to your base. Impossible to defeat without a gazillion powerups, which even by grinding hard you couldn't buy. So. I'm stuck on level 49 of 50 not able to finish the game and be done with it. Rage quitting. Angry German kid is gonna play UT now...

Frantic tower building.
Incredible soundtrack.
Fun cut scenes and endearing graphics.
-
Step learning curve.
Kit goes down two main lines meaning you need to respec a lot.
I got this some years back and I seem to recall the respec feature was not on it or some other annoyance with it.
In it's current version, it is a hectic tower building/resource game with a bleak sense of humour.
I'd thoroughly recommend it as a drop in and out sort game.
Fun game

It SHOULD be fine and a great tower defense, BUT:
- Half the map is dark, because of a fade to black effect on quite a wide margin near the borders. On the area you'll probably want to build turrets to ambush the spawning titans. Or grab powerups. Either way, good luck seeing what you're doing.
- Any earned money carries over to next missions. HOWEVER, the game features a very aggressive difficulty rubber-banding - the more money you have, the harder the missions become. Do extremely well, and enemies become fast enough to make winning impossible until you give in and ask for easier levels (which ruins your chances for a gold medal).
- No minimap, no zoom out, AND no moving the screen when paused.
- The cursor hotspot pixel moves on its own and in a different speed from the visible mouse cursor. Hard to notice, but you can't unsee it once you do.
Endearing unconventional tower defense with artful graphics and great soundtracks.
I like this game.
Still as good as the genre has ever had. 10/10 and Puppygames should think about a remaster or something.
The only tower defense game I have liked. I am not one for this genre but somehow was drawn to this.
it's a tower defence game that's more focused on a "campaign" than something more traditional like bloons, and i do not think it is very much worth your time overall. it's *fine* but there's better games and series, like the aforementioned bloons, amongst many others.
Honestly a lot of these reviews feel like skill issue.
People that complain about not knowing whats coming? After playing the planet you should know what titans you can potentially face.
Camera not having enough zoom to let you not see what your doing? Ok maybe this would have been nice but its not hard to move your camera around.
People complain about difficulty adapting based of players money but like what are they expecting? The game would become boring if you got much more money than needed to beat the level (which then that money carries over from one level, to the next)
And for level difficulty itself. If its too hard, the game gives the option of playing a easier level.
For me its the best tower defense game I've played.
Very interesting game
i loved the story and concept abt this game a lot
there was almost no issues with the game and i had my fun with it
only thing that was a bit strange is when i made the christmass levels the enemies somehow died on their own before even comming to the map and this is not suppose to happen but maybe it was like that because i set my pc time to the 19th of december, eitherway i got the achievements anyway.
im very happy with this game i had a lot of fun! i can only recommend this
Definitely a fun TD. Allows for a bit of flexibility with tower placement, you can create chokepoints, etc. Gets hard later on. I sure do hate those xmas achievements.
Giocateci assolutamente, divertimento assicurato.
not a gametype I usually play but its quite fun, cute clean graphics...
A tower defense game with some interesting ideas that make it feel quite different from other games in the genre. The major differences are free form pathing, large open maps, finances that carries over from mission to mission, towers that can be destroyed (even by your own towers), tower modifying buildings, alien personalities that can cause them to attack recklessly or try and avoid strong defenses, a tech system that has many prerequisites and an overall weird personality and unique graphic style. Maybe all these aren’t new, but seeing so many risky differences in one game is pretty unique. Beyond that, it is what you expect. Protect your base from all the alien waves and complete all the missions.
The positives are the uniqueness more than anything. I appreciate that they took some risks and made a fresh take on the genre… even if all the ideas don’t pan out so hot. In fact, if I were making my own tower defense game, I would consider many of these features. Unfortunately, the actual implementation and overall design, just ruins most of this uniqueness.
The negatives are many for me, unfortunately. Although I like the idea of free form pathing and larger maps, I did not like the implementation. The maps can get large, but you can’t zoom out to actually get a good idea of what is going on. Nor do you know what aliens will be coming really, so trying to build defenses can just be guesswork. You do see the spawn points, but no clue what is coming from them. The game also has some baffling oversights like not being able to get info on the aliens during the mission. You will get little summaries of new aliens coming premission, but correlating them to what you see during a mission isn’t so easy. You don’t even get to know how many aliens are coming. These things lead to you doing a practice run or two for most missions (except earlier ones which are easy and there are few spawn points). Then the fact that your towers can be destroyed, often means you cannot put towers further out unless they have protection. But the game usually has so many entry points, and so little available money, that you can rarely do anything but have 1 or 2 big clumps of turrets (especially later in the campaign). And things like your towers being able to damage your own buildings was just a horrible idea, at least for the turret and map designs that they have. The rocket launcher, in particular, can easily do more damage to you then the enemy. Even putting it way out, somehow it kills itself as it hits some little tiny piece of terrain (there is lots of randomish terrain in this game). Then there is the economy. Again, interesting idea to have your left-over money carry over, but this can lead to you winning missions and auto failing the next because you can’t build anything. And if you do really well and have a huge surplus? Well, the game punishes you by making the mission harder. Then there is the little item drops that happen frequently. Mostly these happen off screen and you just get the direction and a beep that helps tell how close you are, and you have to scroll around to try and find it. Horrible idea in an already hectic game. Yes, missing these isn’t the end of the world, but some of those drops are super weapons that will really help you out and they carry over between missions. There is even a manually targeted turret (which is quite effective), which is really out of place. Yes, target aliens manually, while picking up loot drops, and also trying to make sure your defenses are holding and don’t need any support. Then we have the graphics, which are unique, but they aren’t the easiest to see clearly as they are all black. This is especially bad late in the game where the levels are very dark. And, with the tech, there are some that are more or less required. With the prerequisites and not always good warning, you can just auto lose if you didn’t get the right ones but there is a respec in the game now so it’s recoverable (I guess at one point that did not exist though). Again, just some odd choices here. There are actually other things I don’t like too but they are more minor and I’ve gone on long enough.
End result, yeah not a recommend for me. This just isn’t what I want from a tower defense game. I want to be able to plan a layout, sit back and see how it holds up, and occasionally add some new defenses, use a power or upgrade some stuff. This game is hectic, hard to predict, hard to tell how you are doing or what you are doing wrong, etc. You can even, many times, just brute force your way through a mission by using super-weapons / powerups, no real strategy at all. I just did not find this game fun or satisfying at all, even though I powered through (with a years long break and restart). Good ideas, but poor execution in my opinion.
A sci-fi tower defense that is definitely not as bad as some may describe it. Get ready to defend your compounds against all sorts of monsters both big and small. Different beasts means different weapons and tools that will be needed to destroy them all. Plenty of options to mix and match, although some strategies are admittedly better than others! Plenty of challenge and a solid enough design to get a good score from me. Give it a shoot if you like tower defense!
Old but gold
Good progress, nice tower defense, worth the price
If you like tower defense and base-building, this is a great one. It's super-stylish too and has a good sense of environment and impending doom, not to mention the fun factor around map exploration and cataloging enemy types.
good game
A unique, challenging but not overdone, tower defense game that has always had a special place in my heart.
Played this when I was in elementary school and i'm here as a young adult. Thank you for the memories!
ps. I love the Saturn and Titan menu screen :)
A digital relic preserved in the formaldehyde of Steam's catalog—functional but fundamentally outdated. Its existence serves primarily as bait for bundle completionists and nostalgia addicts. Play it if you must scratch that tower defense itch, but recognize you're engaging with gaming archaeology, not contemporary entertainment.
simple n fun
Not Recommended
Absolutely love this game. If you like Tower defence then this is the game for you. Doesn’t require a high end computer as its been around many years now. But its tough, and the graphics just work for the type of game its trying to be.
Wish there was a sequel or DLC.
Abit on the fun side but just to clunky and crashes to often.
Little hard but very fun to play, when you understand what to do it becomes fun to play. Would recommend 10/10!
Not as bad as some reviewers claim. The main/regular campaign requires careful planning - nothing wrong with that. And there is an easy campaign alternative if you want. As a tower defence game, this little one is not utterly conventional, which may be a plus or a minus depending on who you ask... 8+/10.
Great tower defender and quite charming.
Nice art and style, but the game balance is broken. Enemies become stronger the more gold you have, so you are forced to play badly to have a chance to win. Also, the developer failed to respond to criticism, check comments of the top-rated negative review for distilled cringe.
Warhammer?
I remember enjoying this a while ago but when i loaded in I set it to fullscreen and now for some reason its zoomed in to the top left and i cant click anything in the main menu and nothing i do seems to fix it.
Still sometimes look back on how fun this game was.
Sinopsis

Cloud be a good game, but its annoying.
Enemies get stronger based on your income. => Cheap developer taktic?
Rockets are pactically useless. => Why Mr. Developer?
The GUI hides certain information and I hate it. =>
- What does that upgrade do?
- Only 4 Upgrades for turrets?
- Only 4 refineries for each crystal?
Does this game get updates?

Ah, Revenge of the Titans. Probably one of the first games I ever bought on Steam over a decade ago, returning to this game was nostalgic. This is a surprisingly good tower defense game that packs a bunch of pixelated charm and a banger soundtrack. There's a decent amount of challenge too, with multiple levels requiring clever turret placement and retries as the Titans adjust to your setups. Looking up a guide can alleviate a lot of the rising difficulty towards the end, if you're feeling stuck. When it comes to your turrets, quality over quantity is key (meaning upgrade those turrets, maggot)!
There's also a very appropriate amount of reverence for good old coffee in this game. Your army, nay, humanity, depends on it!
👍
This would be very enjoyable, were it not for the insane difficulty. I don't mind a hard game - I've played all the Souls - but this is just not fun.
The first couple of missions are nice, the style's great and the sound effects fit extremely well, but ultimately, it's just impossible.
This would be a good game if not for the automatic balance that can get very unbalanced.
The expression "The little foxes get you" really ring true for a game like this, small mistake early can snowball and make it very hard near the end. its a free style tower defense game, once you learn what to do and not do the game is very fun and challenging. the art style is very unique and works well for the game, i would recommend it.
Great game, good old pew pew fun
Best tower defence
The best Humble Bundle game ever
Have just gone back and played for the first time in 10 ish years and the game is still a banger!
(y)
I had bought this long ago, way long ago, I played it for four hours and then tried to play it again cause I never finished it... the idea is there, it needs more work. Maybe if they made a reboot or a second one. Just very clunky and research is kinda meh it doesn't explain much and you can easily make your game unwinable. Also apparently they had custom levels/campaigns but I guess the servers are down.
great tower defense game with fun, bright graphics
Petit jeu sympa.
They aint getting over the wall this time (loads missiles)
Very solid tower defense game.
This game has been one of my all-time favorite games for many many years. I probably have many times my current playtime in RotT from before I bought it on my own steam account, mostly playing on my dad's pc back then. I love the artstyle and gameplay (even if endless mode past level 100 can get a bit reset heavy) and absolutely adore the background ambience in each level. I have seen many people say that RotT is way too difficult, though I've never really felt that way - heck, I'd even want a hard mode to be added to the game. I've even thought of many many ideas for a potential fanmade sequel/extension to the game because of just wanting more RotT content. (now if I only knew how to code and stuff lol)
11/10 game, has invaded surprisingly many of my dreams.
(Edited my review due to my previous one being very lacking compared to how much I could say about this game.)
Puppy Games:
Titan Attacks!
Droid Assault
Ultratron
i cant exit fullscreen?
Clunky tower defense. I must have left the game open some time in the past to get the number of hours I have. Figuring out what to research to get the thing you want is nigh impossible. Game moves too fast and I can't tell from the graphics what is happening.
nope
Nostalgic game for me. My brother and I used to suffer through it. Good times.
This must be one of the worst tower defense games on Steam. This is what Revenge of the Titans is about: player gets punished for playing.
This game is a great example how not to design a videogame 101.
- Your cash carries to the next mission: Cash saved up a lot? Difficulty spikes hard. Did not save much? Lacks enough to defend all fronts in the next mission.
- Little modules to make towers stronger: Not used? Towers are too weak to kill anyone. Use too much? Expensive and space used too much to build more towers.
- There’s a spec tree: Carefully built to counter next mission? Time to re-spec again every time you start a mission. Well balanced distribution? Mission gets much harder.
It is incredibly difficult to find the fine balance. The developer had this certain numbers in mind that is not revealed to the player on any level. The game just feels like it punishes you either way and you are just barely passing when you “win”. Where exactly is the fun in that?
Enemy spawns are random. They do not follow path the developers drew themselves on the map. They scatter around and there are no elements to reroute these enemies.
There is no right or wrong action. There is only punishable action, and every action is punished.
za ciezkie xd too hard xd
👍👍👍
Mình chơi trò này từ hồi 2012 tới nay đã 10 năm hơn, và vẫn bị cuốn. Trò chơi rất hay, thú vị và giải trí.

its good,
nice!
As a distinguished member of the defence force against aliens I cant recommend this game.
Presentation is excellent but the game is massively flawed by bad design choices and random nature of enemies. You can't plan or be strategic as with most tower defence games because you will be punished for it by them chucking more enemies at you in the next level with the only option being build random ♥♥♥♥ and hope for the best. Play it like a casual clueless person and it can be fun, play with strategy and you will be screwed.
Nah bruv, this aint it.
fun
It has an interesting research tree, but I don't like how the next level starts with the previous levels resources.
Agree with the negative reviews concerning the stupidity of raising the difficulty level if you have more cash (so that you can throw out the idea of strategic spending) and the stupid tech tree design, completely random and from all directions waves of enemies, and other just annoyingly bad design choices. The game looks very cool though. Love the design and the humor, just not the actual game.
I quite enjoy tower defense style games, however this is not really tower defense. Too much on the fly panic building and not enough planning and strategy to be considered a true tower defense game.
Waves are inconsistent, they appear with random amounts of enemies and at random locations and don't follow any set path. While the art style is very sleek, the enemies all look too similar.
Difficulty scales with cash on hand, and perhaps this feature was added as an anti-cheat, but all it ends up doing is encouraging you to spend frivolously. If you haven't teched into an enemy counter then you just straight lose, and enemies will begin to spawn to counter your tech choices.
In the end, it seems the game seeks to punish you for playing, and that's not fun.
Gierka słaba, rozegrana głównie dla osiągnięć.
Watch out, they came in packs!
I still envy this...
Everything is cool about this tower defense games. It absolutely nails the 50s aliens attack B-movie theme. THe cartoony over the top blahblahblah characters are awesome. Love all the powerups and monsters. The sound effects are the star of this game. Great fun gameplay.
Also: BEST USE OF TOCCATA AND FUGUE EVER!!!!!
tower defense greatness
tower defense game
Revenge of the Titans is a fun and unique tower defense game that I only played for a few hours. However, nearly 10 years ago it bugged out and didn't shut down properly on my system. It was running in the background for days and because of this Steam thinks I played it for 230 hours. It has been one of my top played games ever since. It bothers me a little, but I've come to live with it.
Muy adictivo, buen juego
very good
👍
A fun tower defense game with it's own original take/style on the genre!
This is a cute minimalistic tower defense game but it does get repetitive after a very short time.
== Tried again in 2025 ==
I was going to give this another shot despite not loving it the first go around. This time the game wouldn't run in a way that fit in my monitor. It was always too big or too small. Even hitting alt+enter didn't seem to fix the issue. Probably just too old and starting to show its age.
