Прошёл Regions Of Ruin и теперь точно знаю: быть гномом в разрушенном мире — это как пытаться построить домик из LEGO, пока вокруг бегают гоблины с молотками. Разберу, что было эпично, а что — как поход за грибами в шторм.
Что порадовало (и заставило почувствовать себя почти богом‑гномом):
Выбор сложности = выбор расы. Начинаешь с Эльфа (лёгкая сложность) или сразу берёшь Тролля (сложно)? А если прошёл игру — открываешь Гнома на экспертном уровне! Прямо как в жизни: сначала учишься на лёгких задачах, потом берёшься за ремонт квартиры.
Пиксельная сказка. Графика в стиле «олдскул» и музыка, будто из скандинавских легенд, создают атмосферу. Иногда просто останавливаешься полюбоваться закатом над болотом… пока тебя не укусит кобольд.
Строительство поселения. Собираешь ресурсы, строишь кузницы, аптеки, таверны — и вот уже твоя деревня выглядит почти цивилизованно. Правда, потом приходят орки и напоминают: «Это всё ещё руины, дружок».
Разнообразие врагов. Гоблины на воргах, орки‑берсерки, кобольды‑некроманты — каждый со своими трюками. Один кидается ядом, другой бежит так быстро, что кажется, опаздывает на автобус.
Руны и способности. Прокачка персонажа — не просто цифры: можно кидать огненные шары или наносить 12‑кратный урон со спины. В какой‑то момент ты уже не гном, а ходячий арсенал.
Мини‑игра в таверне. Кликер, где ты добываешь ресурсы виртуально, чтобы получить бонусы в реальной игре. Спасение для тех, кто устал от битв и хочет просто «потыкать мышкой».
Что заставило вспомнить все гномьи проклятия:
Гринд. Сбор ресурсов быстро превращается в рутину. 50‑я поездка за древесиной уже не кажется героическим походом, а больше похоже на работу лесоруба с ПТСР.
Однообразие. Через 8–10 часов локации, враги и квесты начинают сливаться в один большой «день сурка». Ты зачищаешь лагерь, строишь здание, зачищаешь следующий лагерь… И так до бесконечности.
Проблемы с переводом. Часть диалогов осталась на английском, а русские тексты иногда звучат так, будто их переводил гном после трёх кружек эля.
Режим защиты базы. Нужно отбивать волны врагов, ставить укрепления… но баррикады блокируют и тебя, и союзников. В итоге ты бегаешь вокруг стены и кричишь: «Ребята, не ломайте оборону, пока я тут сражаюсь!»
Физика повреждений. Получил травму? Теперь ты прыгаешь ниже, быстрее устаёшь, а здоровье уменьшается. Но зато бьёшь так же сильно — видимо, гномья ярость не знает границ.
Итого: Regions Of Ruin — это игра для тех, кто:
любит пиксельную эстетику и атмосферу фэнтези;
готов строить город, собирать ресурсы и отбиваться от орков;
не боится гринда и ценит постепенное развитие;
хочет почувствовать себя гномом‑супергероем (или гномом‑строителем — на выбор).
Оценка: 7 из 10 — минус балл за однообразие и ещё балл за технические огрехи. Но если вы фанат градостроительных симуляторов с примесью RPG и готовы закрыть глаза на повторы — эта игра подарит вам часы удовольствия (и пару седых волос от защиты базы).

A cute little ARPG with a central town to build. Gather resources, get loot, sell loot, make the numbers go up. It's ambition and scope isn't the biggest, but it knows what to focus on, and there's plenty fun in getting your gear as busted as possible
Норм гомза с довольно репетативным геймплеем, незамысловатой графикой, и парой интересных механик. Реиграбельность на 2-3 прохождения за счёт системы билда. На пару вечеров - очень даже.
Ужасно скучно. Из плюсов, с трудом, но могу назвать разнообразие локаций - они делались вручную и реально отличаются друг от друга, несмотря на их количество, правда, вы все равно не запомните, что где, а метки на карте ставить нельзя.
Сказала бы, что это идеальная игра в долгую нудную дорогу, типа если бы вам нужно было куда-то лететь 15 часов и если бы дворфики были портированы на свитч.
Надеюсь, следующая игра выйдет полюбопытнее, но я проверять уже не буду.

游戏其实还行，但是设计方面的问题不少。很多人不知道怎么附魔，其实只需要双击你想要附魔的装备即可。还有这个打铁真的是给人类打的吗，绝大部分打出来是蓝色，偶尔能打件绿品质的出来。还有汉化方面也是纯机翻，并且极不完善。

Very fun game! I tried it once a while back and wasn’t impressed, but giving it a second chance completely changed my mind. The game is packed with engaging mechanics, like settlement building, contracts, simplified mining, gear‑based combat, and map exploration. I still come back to it from time to time and always enjoy it. The sequel also looks promising, with improved visuals and mechanics. GG!

Jogo parece ser bom mas é muito mal executado. Em termos de RPG é bem rico, mas a gameplay é péssima, a compatibilidade com controle é bem parcial, você não consegue mexer direito nos menus em uns momentos vc tem que usar o mouse. O combate é estranho, sei la, só gostei mesmo da ideia.
It was... fine? Played on steam deck, controls were clunky at best, gameplay was okay but quickly repetitive. Maybe worth trying if you already own it, but I wouldn't suggest buying it.
It's not a bad game. Just not something I vibed with.
I spent my time exploring for resources to build/upgrade my village and fought kobolds/goblins to rescue other dwarves and complete minor quests. I was just missing a reason to want to keep playing more.
I say that but I kept alt-f4'ing every 10-15 minutes after getting bored, uninstalling the game, and then reinstalling it a few minutes later wondering why it kept pulling me back even though I wasnt particularly enjoying my experience. And then of course, repeated that whole process a few times. It was like I could almost feel something really special with it, but it couldnt quite reach there for me.
My best guess is this feeling comes from the combat. I just can't quite put my finger on why that is. But most of my alt-f4's (not out of rage, but out of a lack of caring) happened right after a fight with larger groups of mobs.
Typically I re-fund a game after feeling this way about it. But I still can't bring myself to do that here. There's still something about it that interests me enough to possibly come back and try it out some more.

Played this on againt off again for years like a bad relationship, remembering all the good but forgetting that it has a terrbly boring loop after sometime, combat is more about mashing buttons, because while you can "easily" manage your stamina loss with dodging, power attacking and managing 1 melee enemy, throw in a ranged enemy in the background which gives you two things to juggle as if you were playing guitar hero with the bars playing at different speeds and places, there is nothing stopping you from handling mutliple melee units, all hiding behind each others (making it hard to see if anyone has a shield, and it is enough for 1 shield to stun you, leaving you open to every attack).
The obvious solution then is to lower the difficulty, or abuse the games mechanics, but at least I haven't found neither to be a fun option. Such as hiring an army, it costs insane amounts of money, and the tactics is just having them attack nonstop, I am not sure if the NPCs can die of if even the medium HP ones are just so tough they can tank a small army on their own, meaning you are the only weakpoint for ranged attackers.
The overall gameplay-loop can be described as: Talk to NPCs, get some general idea of place out in the world, use food as a cost to unlock small pieces of the Fog of War, go there, murder everything, steal everything, go back home to sell/upgrade/place, repeat. Very rarely do you get something where you may need to return at a later point to truly get the big stuff, or solve a puzzle of some kind.
There is also a poorly explained system of "We will show this tooltip once and never again", such as something the game seems almost made for, the wounds system, it seems that everytime you take a hit there is a chance of a wound, a twisted ankle, a busted lung or all manner of things. What does it do? I have no idea, because being a more or less rapidly growing red list of things that says "dying, Dying, DYING! Dead." Does it remove max HP? Maybe, I couldn't tell you, because the first time you take a hit is probably in combat, and with you flailing to spam attack is hardly the time for a "click once to never read again" tooltip.
The game is fine for a small project someone made, it has a lot happening inside of it, but it seems that every system has some flaw to it, such as disappearing loot as well! There just seems to be no end for what I have some issue with... And yet, the game is uniquely simple for an action RPG.
Its an OK little side scroller battling game, with management aspects bolted on. The core gameplay gets tedious quickly, and there isn't much variation. Plus, the management aspect is weirdly compromised by the fact that playing an idle minigame in the tavern gets you huge rewards that have no basis in the logic of the world, and so it undermines the development work. I got about 8 hours of mild entertainment out of it, then played a bit more seeing if there was anything else. Unfortunately, no.

資源があふれて回収できない→建設で枯渇するも破壊したオブジェクトは復活しないので資源探しに四苦八苦することに。強い装備やユニーク装備がそれなりに手に入るが、アイテム倉庫容量を増やすことができず解体か売却へ。売却しようにも商人の所持金が少なすぎて町への出入りを繰り返す羽目に…
次点が一部のクエストで目的地や報告先が表示されないこと。
謎解きもヒントが他マップにあるから探してねがそれなりにあって、どこだったか分からなくなるという...
戦闘は基本的にスニーキング＆斧投擲、
ある施設で隠密中にダッシュできる能力を解放できたら、走り回って正面からバックスタブ？し放題の無双状態へ。楽しい。
セールで30０円を下回り、３０時間近く遊べたのでお勧めとさせていただきます。

The game's controls are horrible and difficult to use, it also says it works with controller but regardless of any steam setting or research, nothing makes the controller work in the game, the game is overly complicated with the controls and this ruins the gameplay for me. I hope the sequel is improved with this, otherwise that one will also be a refund as well after I try it if it has bad controls as well.
The game is fine for what it is, but it is also somehow tragically short. It had promise but really quickly ran out. Its not a bad game but I wouldn't suggest buying and playing it either.

This game is nothing like the Demo that the game market on Youtube. The combat is clunky, the story at the beginning isn't all insteresting, and the design over all just very basic and mid. There isn't even an auto save system. So much expectation...
A fun little sidescroller about being small, seeing goblins, and immediately going home to play an idle clicker minigame to come back with 12x damage and hit him for 80k.
Got this from the Humble Monthly way back when, and only got around to playing it now. It definitely suffers from a strange difficulty plateau that quickly becomes a cliff when you realize Wizards plus 100% Block shield means the game autoplays, but the puzzle platforming from the story dungeons was fun.
They gave this away during the start of COVID and I will be forever grateful for that. Great game.

This game really got me for a couple of hours but i wouldnt recommend it. Why?
First I was very disappointed at the moment I realised the many places on the huge world map are just containing more of the same standard events. Before that I thought the adventures are awaiting me, after that I concentrated on the story regions.
Second this game can feel sometimes like a waste of time. Thats was really a bad feeling for me, grinding through a region without getting anything substantial.
So looking back to my playthrough of Regions of Ruin I would have rather played another game from my library. But maybe take a look if ur just looking for a little sideline game without complex gameplay or important story.
The idea is solid, the exicution is flawed.
3/10 note recommended and removed from account.
Looked like a game I would like, downloaded it, tried to play it; but anytime the level changes, you change screens (loading into a save file) or anything of the sort, the options all default back to normal. I'm playing on a 4k monitor, and would like to actually be able to see the text boxes, so this is a mood killer. if options get actually saved, I'd probably change it, if I got to see/enjoy the actual game. and yes, I know there's probably a way to change something in the files; besides the point. I bought a game, not a project.

Un RPG "à l'ancienne" sans prise de tête qui a un charme certain. Le système de combat est simple et le côté gestion n'est pas trop complexe et les deux se marient à merveille. Je l'ai 100 % en 12 heures et je n'ai pas vu le temps passer (à part peut-être le succès des lapins). Pour son prix, sa durée de vie est totalement acceptable, sans parler du fait qu'il est très régulièrement en promo.

It's a simple, but surprisingly enjoyable game. Progression to power is quite fast. There's some management elements, but its mostly a map marker cleaning game with combat and sometimes puzzles.
I appreciated the fact that the map markers are [b]not procedurally generated[/b]. There's a finite amount of them, which gives the game a definitive end. I would've been easy to have the map go on infinitely and it would've made the game much shallower.
Nitpicks:
* Items on ground despawn instantly when leaving a location. Annoying when inventory is full.
* The journal/quest list is really sub par, many quests do not have markers, some puzzles can be forgotten about if they require some code from a different location.
* The font is a little annoying, making it difficult to distinguish numbers like 2 and 5 and 8 from each other on item stats
You can tell the developers are not English. Text escapes its bounding boxes, the settings feel like they're from 2010, the game feels pretty floaty... These things combined definitely make the game not worth full price. Hopefully their upcoming game is much more polished.
I’ve spent some time with this game and honestly, it surprised me in a way I didn’t fully expect. I don’t want to sound dramatic, but there’s something oddly satisfying about how everything fits together — not in some perfect, polished “advertisement” way, but more like a game that knows exactly what it wants to be and just… goes for it.
The first thing I noticed is the atmosphere. Every part of the game — the visuals, the sound, the pacing — kind of blends into this feeling that you’re actually inside its world, even if you’re just casually playing. I know that sounds a bit cliché, but it’s true. Sometimes it’s chaotic, sometimes slow, sometimes you’re just wandering around thinking “ok, what now?” but that’s honestly part of the charm. The game doesn’t try to rush you unless it actually needs to.
Gameplay-wise, it has this mix of familiar elements and small twists that keep things from feeling stale. Nothing groundbreaking, maybe, but it all works together in a way that feels natural. There were moments when I thought “yeah, I’ve seen this in other games,” but then the game throws in tiny details or unexpected interactions that make it stand out just enough. It’s the kind of thing you only notice after a few hours, when you start connecting the dots.
Performance has been mostly fine. A little rough spot here and there, but honestly, show me a game these days that doesn’t have something weird happening once in a while. Nothing game-breaking on my end, at least. You can clearly tell the developers put effort into this, even if a few edges are still a bit sharp. Again — part of the charm.
What I really appreciate is that the game gives you space to play the way you want. Some people will rush through every objective, others will take their time exploring or messing around, and both approaches actually feel valid. I like games that don’t punish you for not following some “correct” path.
Overall, I’d say this is one of those titles that grows on you the longer you play. It doesn’t try too hard to impress in the first five minutes — instead it slowly builds its identity, layer by layer, until you suddenly realize you’ve been playing way longer than you planned. If you’re looking for something that balances comfort with challenge, familiar mechanics with fresh touches, and a world that’s just fun to be in, then I genuinely think this one is worth giving a shot.

Yeah, I would — maybe not to everyone, because no game is for everyone, but definitely to anyone who likes getting lost in a game for a bit and discovering things at their own pace.

Pretty fun and rewarding early game. Not sure if it was just my build but the last 10 hours of the game were not even a slight challenge, to the point where I three shot the final boss of the game. Also a little peeved the settlement achievement is bugged, as it is the last one I need to 100%.

I love this game.
It feels like a modern take on retro games like Wonder Boy: Dragon's Trap but it has all the extra flair we like in more modern games-- custom character growth, resource collecting, crafting/building. There's even an open exploration system; if one area is too tough, you can explore somewhere else and come back later.
Anyone who enjoys retro-style adventure games of the past really should check this out.

I played the game and 100% it (all achievements). I think that this game had some serious potential which I really hope will be explored in the sequel, but it was brought down by really stupid button/rune puzzles (I don't understand runes and I don't want to waste my time looking up the solutions on a guide). Also, the game becomes way too easy once you get the right gear. I felt like a riding lawn mower near the end; just hacking everything down until it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DIED. OMG, this game is absolute cinema,i played it only because i dropped it from random keys and i wanted to speedrun achivments but gameplay was so good i continued playing after getting all of them, i recommend this game to everybody, i dont remember when i was so obssesed about some game like that. i was ecspectating from this game only spamming and fighting, but damn, economy, building town, the skills upgrade that i can turn on and off, discovering books by founding pages and then getting perks from books, minigame in tavern, quests from NPCs, i would be happy if you would add more achviments to this game about "ending game" or doing all quests from NPCs, not only abt damage and fighting, but still so good game 8,5/10

junk, Keyboard and mouse here, couldn't collect any resources, commands were horribly mapped. You had to hit the return key constantly. who uses the return key any more? I was stuck in the early area , no way to collect resources and walking in each direction just went to a black screen. Horrible UI. this is basically a scam. maybe ok with controller but I doubt it. going to try to refund.
esse jogo é relativamente curto porem nao vai ficar entediado exceto por alguns puzzles(a nao ser que voce goste), mas no geral o jogo é bom, tem uma ótima progressão e os inimigos são sempre uma versão mais forte da anterior!

It does what it says and that with worth more than any AAA game's millions of dollar marketing budgets. Now we are getting a sequel, and i here for it.

Regions of Ruin is a 2D platformer/hack 'N' slash/RPG game in which you play as a dwarf. Mankind has been defeated, and the world is teeming with goblins, kobolds, orcs, and trolls. Most settlements have been destroyed.
Although many fell to the wild, violent clans, Dwarfkind survived, though suffered heavy losses. You play as a dwarf who, ultimately, has the power to become their hero and save Dwarfkind from these villainous foes!
As you explore the world, you find caged dwarves. Letting them free, you start a settlement, building it up as your population grows.
🎶 Music and Graphics: 🎨
🎶 Music: Regions of Ruin features a soundtrack of orchestral music. The game's music is adventurous, energetic and features some good, epic battle themes, as well as a lovely track that plays when in settlements or peaceful areas. I think the soundtrack was very well done, and I enjoyed it! There aren't many tracks, but the ones that the game does did well.
🖼️ Visuals, graphics, & artstyle: Regions of Ruin has a colorful pixel art style that is pleasing to the eyes. The scenery, backgrounds, and sprites in the game, in my opinion, looked great! I really like the level of detail that was put into it.

I really enjoyed Regions of Ruin! There were some aspects that, I think, needed a bit more work - namely, some glitches that were rather annoying, and did harm the gameplay experience. Also, there were a fair amount of typos and grammatical issues. I do wish that the developers had fixed the glitches and typos, but nevertheless, I still had an enjoyable experience with the game.

Quando alguém critica um JRPG por ser simulador de excell, esse jogo me vem à mente.
Inclusive, não, ele não é um JRPG, mas o grind incessante que você tem que fazer indo em locais pra pegar loot e equipamento torna esse jogo quase uma tortura se você estiver tentando rushar.
Tirando esse detalhe, jogar ele é o equivalente gastronômico de almoçar um chiclete. Recomendo apenas se você amar de paixão a mecânica de lootear em jogos.

The game that pleasantly surprised me, was picked up at one of the free games giveaways and had been on the shelves of my library for a long time. But the day I tried it - finally came.
At first, I was expecting a classic platformer with rogue-like elements - but I got a game in the RPG + RTS genre, which have been quite surprising. Minimalist combat mechanics, dashing around the location, puzzles of varying difficulty levels. Leveling up your character, talents, weapons, equipment. Building your own town, your own mercenary brigade that will make your journey easier, trading with various NPCs for items and resources, managing handymen who stand behind you - this is all included in this game. And in addition to this, there is also a plot with a grand goal - to find salvation for your people, who are scattered across the continent and eliminate the threat that hangs over all NON-monster-like individuals.

Stretches its few ideas out close to the breaking point, with very little fresh content beyond the first two hours, making for a decent but somewhat repetitive playthrough.

Fun dwarf game
I didn't play for long at all. There were two things holding me back. One, the combat is delayed. It is done by intent and I simply don't enjoy it. When I press an attack (especially a basic one) I want it to happen when I press the key/button. It's particularly noticeable when you are using throwing weapons. I would often throw a weapon the wrong direction because it launched significantly later after releasing the button. Second issue is the controls. They just don't feel good. Its not intuitive. I did start to get somewhat decent but it just wasn't an enjoyable experience. I feel if combat and controls were improved I would enjoy the game more.
I also didn't like the UI.
Graphics are nice. Sound effects are okay. As mentioned at the beginning, I didn't play much. Maybe the issues I had aren't as big of a deal to others.

I tried playing with a controller and I couldn't make it past the first thing you see in the tutorial.
Really enjoyed this game. It took a little getting used to at the start, but it becomes a nice grind game where you get better and better. Good for spending some time on without needing to be super invested.

I wish I liked this - maybe I'm just really not good at side scrollers, but I found that no matter my approach, enemies would swarm my spot and it would be a pile up of bodies with me swinging away. The UI is unpleasant and clunky, and the typos and grammatical errors are noticeable when they happen.
However, the RTS-like(?) method of gathering resources in specific parts of the world and building my settlement is enjoyable.
I was drawn to this initially thinking it was Dwarven Terraria, and I probably would enjoy it more if it was more like that. It just doesn’t seem to be my flavour of colony sim.

Neat in theory (I loved the idea of Kingdoms with an overland map), but super buggy, had to wrestle a lot with bad and/or broken UI and game features. Don't bother unless you really really really want this specific niche, in which case go in with eyes open.
A solid RPG with an expanding home base and resource collection. I think the balance of resource collection could be a little better and the AI for your followers can be janky, but then again, so can the enemy AI to your advantage. Absolutely worth the time to play.
I enjoyed this game quite a bit!
100% in just under 10 hours, was a fun game, followers are absolutely ridiculously overpowered, whereas at some point you just feel like a follower. pretty repetitive at some point but still pretty ok.

I liked the early game/mid game alot, it was fun, getting better loot is always fun, stealth + throwing axes is OP can take down every enemy without getting hit once.
Late game it does get boring, since the game suffers from what it has in the beggining, it's just the same thing over and over again, go to a location on the map, fight baddies, go to another one, to find some runes or talk to a dwarf that gives you quest to fight baddies, rinse and repeat.
Building was fun, but not really rewarding, except the Inn. Where you get bounties and revenue.

Pretty fun mix of colony building and rpg hacknslash. You feel a dwarf through and through with an unstoppable troupe and you can gear up to be absurdly OP (but some arrows can still be quite the trouble).
The way of exploring the map was really neat and I wished we could have some more info on locations, especially after you clear some it became hard to track cleared places that still had relevant things.
I didn't expect this kind of gameplay but I enjoyed it thoroughly in its glorious jank.

Pleasant surprise.
It's a decent little time-waster, I guess. Having completed the main quest and several side quests, I can tell you that the gameplay loop gets old after a few hours. The settlement management and follower mechanics seem interesting, as does the idea of the skill tree, but none of them ended up being all that important. I never needed to use most of the settlement, though, and I never even smithed or imbued a single piece of gear. With repetitive fights, simple quests, and mind-numbing "puzzles" that are mainly solved through trial and error, I felt that Regions of Ruin did not respect my time.
The game is technically competent with only a few bugs and spelling mistakes, though, so at least there's that. If you really love the art style, maybe pick it up on sale. Otherwise, skip it and go play A Dark Room (which is completely free and runs in your browser) or Castle Crashers.
