I have never reviewed a game before, but I feel compelled to share about this one
I have just completed the Mercury tutorials and began with Gemini, and I gotta say the tutorials in this game are what I keep coming back for! Other games like this have tutorials that are such a drag, but there's something about the pacing and the way you interface with the craft and checklist that is so smooth that it is fun, and prepares you perfectly to run your own missions later.
I'd say its more for people interested in early spaceflight, but I found every step of the flights to be beautiful and memorable.

Reentry is an insane project. It's a single-dev game that managed to become a cornerstone of space simulators, along the likes of NASSP/Orbiter. I don't know how Petri managed to pull that off, but he designed a sim that is both in depth systems-wise and very pretty to look at. The documentation is neat, the tutorials are neat, it's a flawless performance so far.
All in all, Reentry is a must-buy for any space sim fan.
When I was a boy, I was fascinated by the space program. I watched the first Mercury flight on television and was a fanatic through Gemini. Apollo was an all consuming passion. Now, through Reentry, I am able to live my young dreams and learn the awesome reality behind what used to be the mysteries of space flight. It is an overwhelming simulation which had required considerable study on my part ... and yet this journey is deeply satisfying.
Complex but historically fascinating. It has a steep learning curve so this isn't just some fun space simulator. It's a highly detailed recreation of historical flights. So if you're a big fan of NASA and space exploration, you'll probably enjoy this. It's graphically taxing at full quality, but has lots of options to turn down graphics.

You have to have some space geek in your DNA to strap yourself to a chair, seal it in an airtight can, mount it on the most powerfully explosive machines of the era, then listen to people micromanage you for the next 3-200 hours without retching, then call it a GOOD TIME.

This is a truly amazing game, and it's the best simulator I've ever played. I greatly appreciate the hard work of the people who created this game. I have a few suggestions for this game:
1. Add an official translation into other languages (not a fan translation), as there is a lot of content that was missed due to the lack of Russian language in certain areas.
2. Add more historical missions, as it would be great to experience all the first-person piloted programs, including vostok, voshod, and souz.
3. It would be very cool to add a full-fledged multiplayer where you and your friend/friends control one spaceship

1. Добавить официальный перевод на другие языки (не фанатский) много контента было пропущено из-за отсутствия русского языка в некоторых моментах
2. Больше исторических миссий, было бы очень круто пройти все пилотируемые программы от первого лица, включая vostok, voshod и souz.
3. Было бы очень круто добавить полноценный мультиплеер где ты со своим другом/друзьями управляешь одним космическим кораблем

I spent an entire day off from work flying to the moon and then back again without saving or loading. It involved flipping switches hundreds of times, following dozens of checklists, and pressing V37 on a pretend version of a 60 year old computer until it was second nature. This was after a previous attempt where I got to the moon only to hurtle into space because I entered +00000 instead of +09000 in the LGC. I honestly can't think of another game I've played that so perfectly fits my level of crazy.
This game is not for everyone. For a good portion of people the whole thing will be extraordinarily tedious and overly detailed. To be clear, it is a game insomuch as you can get away with lots of minor things that would have killed astronauts and the burn planner automates away some of the most tedious (and error-prone) jobs. But it is very detail oriented and time consuming. It requires reading, research, and failed attempts. You will be tapping away at a DSKY way more than most people (other than maybe CuriousMarc over on Youtube) would reasonably want to do in life. It's also surprisingly demanding in terms of system specs. Before you buy, watch some gameplay streams to get an idea of what you will be doing. It may not be for you.
That all said, it's an amazing passion project and one that will scratch an itch like few other things can for a specific subset of people.

Yeah the game just won't play on my brand new computer. I have more than enough of everything in this thing and it just won't load it did the very first time but now it won't load at all. So I cannot recommend it Sorry about that and no help at all from from steam or from the manufacture or the maker of the game. So I'm a little pissed off wasted 35 bucks or whatever who cares Still kind of pisses me off
Liked: atmosphere, and the amount of detail, the music is also surprisingly good background
Did not like: the tutorials could be even more informative. Right now I am struggling with the re-entry of Gemini. I do not fully understand the spacecraft re-entry attitude controls and autopilot or IGS. I guess I need to revisit the tutorials many times. But they seem to leave out things that actually are needed for successful circularization burns, and re-entry attitude control.
In any case, very captivating experience. Chapeau for the developer.

I don't like that I was asked if I would recommend this "game" to other "players" because this is not a game to be played; it is a simulator to be studied. I honestly believe any member of the Mercury, Gemini, or Apollo programs would be right at home using this program.

Fantastic game and great developer worth supporting.
I wish I could see what everyone else sees in this simulator. First, it's too much simulator and not enough game. You seem to be stuck doing historic missions and are unable to make your own. There's also very little guidance on what you're actually supposed to do. My first (and only) mission I was supposed to go through multiple checklists, unable to find anything it actually wanted me to do. The mission still finished successfully without me having to do anything so I'm not entirely sure what the point was.

I am a big DCS fan for flight simulation and I have always wanted a study level simulator for the early space program and lunar landings.
This is it! It has incredible detail and it has provided me with many hours of enjoyment and education. After a long day of work, spending time with this simulator has been a happy place for me.
I am grateful for how much effort has been put into making it and I commend the developer on this outstanding product, which is obviously a labor of love for him.

If you're interested in spaceflight, as in obsess with the real deal, nitty gritty technical details...(have the 'tism), Reentry scratches an itch you didn't know was there. It is so satisfying to run the checklists, flip the same switches and be on the same page as the astronauts as they flew them. The missions audio cues are from the real communications, it's an interactive museum piece. Incredible.
The ASTOUNDING amount of work that has gone into this passion project has to be recognized. Every switch works, ALL OF THEM. The systems are all functional and working together. I can't wait to play more.

I just purchased Reentry - A Space Flight Simulator and played about 2 ½ hours through the first Gemini mission tutorials. If the quality and depth of the tutorials are anything to go by, I can only imagine how mind-blowing the Apollo missions will be!

This game seems like it can be a lot to figure out at first, but the developer does a great job breaking everything down in the academy modules. I definitly would recommend starting with the mercury program, it is the simplest and helps you wrap your head around all the different systems in s spacecraft. If you are into spaceflight and especially vintage Nasa spaceflight BUY THIS SIMULATOR, you wont regret it.

While listed as Unsupported, this game is technically playable on the Steam Deck. However, you will need to do the following:
- Turn all graphical settings to their minimum values
- Manually map the Steam Deck's buttons to Reentry's various keyboard shortcuts
- Get used to zooming in and out and panning the camera frequently so that you can monitor the full cockpit.
I would not recommend the Steam Deck as your primary way to play Reentry; however, I have found it adequate for going through the tutorials when I am not at my desktop.

What a masterpiece
epic - i would love to see docking become a thing in the future, then allowing for exploration of the ISS, space walks, where you attach new tech or repair equipment on the ISS, etc. you might benefit from looking into making missions where you explore mars or something a bit "futuristic" but also totally possible and simulation realistic, like the mars exploration mission (with detailed renderings of mars' mockup through usage of the photo database and mapping at NASA).
Love this game. I wish they had some more science and math involved - tutorials would be good on making calculations.
would recommend this game, but the training is just the mission. i really really wanted to enjoy this game. i stopped caring once i figured out that the button you looking for is hidden on a UI that you have to turn on. i will change my review when the dev team makes a good easy to understand tutorial that isnt just playing the real mission.

One of a kind game. Really well done. I get to live out my childhood fantasies of being an early era astronaut with this. Dev is constantly updating as well. I noticed a bug late November and when I got back to the game a week or two later, it was patched already. I love the interface updates btw. Wish I had VR.
Flew to space, suffocated, fell back to earth and disintegrated all within the span of 10 minutes. Amazing game.

Insanely good space flight sim. Really just great.
All three progams have their various craft and systems lovingly detailed, each system and component and switch and button is all laid out in a detail well known to most DCS players.
The game itself is happy to hold your hand through the tutorials, teaching you the ins and outs of each bit, and the flight manual helps keep you going once the training wheels drop out and you're left to your own devices.
And it's got a VR mode! One being worked on as much as the game itself.
Would highly recommend for anyone really into the space program.

An amazing spacecraft simulator. There is for sure a lot of learning involved in operating each vehicle, but it is very a rewarding and educational experience.

Non esistono altre esperienze che siano al contempo realistiche e visivamente accattivanti come questa.
Parlando di facilità di utilizzo, Reentry è la sovversione totale della normale esperienza di apprendimento. Normalmente quando la curva di apprendimento è bassa, l'attrattiva è bassa e si spera di poter imparare il più possibile stringendo i denti finchè il peggio sia passato, se non si abbandona prima. Solo gli appassionati folli non demordono e non si costruisce una comunità di giocatori al di fuori degli ossi duri. Tuttavia, anche per loro, dopo aver completato tutte le missioni e i training proposti, lentamente, esauriscono le attrattive e lentamente diminuiscono le ore passate con il gioco, fino all'abbandono per un motivo o per l'altro.
Qui accade il contrario: si inizia dalle cose semplici ed è subito accattivante, ma si procede sempre più lentamente, ma si desidera progredire sempre maggiormente. Se acquisire la padronanza della capsula Mercury è come per un bambino imparare ad andare in bicicletta per la prima volta, allora passando alla Gemini sarà come passare direttamente dalla bici alla moto da touring, per poi passare direttamente al camion con gru telescopica da 15 ton (Apollo).
In questa progressione allucinante la fame vien mangiando, ed è solo merito dello stile utilizzato. I giocatori non abbandonano perchè una volta superate tutte le missioni, i badge, i traguardi utilizzati come incentivo, dopo c'è sempre da imparare e da perfezionare. E' dovuto alla complessità stessa delle capsule, da come sono state riprodotte più o meno fedelmente nell'aspetto e nel funzionamento.
Basti pensare che i veri astronauti hanno provato queste procedure centinaia (non si fa per dire) di volte, con sessioni di allenamento quotidiane, e questo per mesi e mesi di seguito.
Nonostante tutte le sbavature, errori di battitura, problemi tecnici, implementazioni parziali, nonostante Unity, con un minimo di attenzione e tempo da dedicare, si può trarre molto divertimento e portare il proprio interesse a un livello superiore di conoscenza, coinvolgimento, esaltazione.
Manvrerai la capsula Gemini per individuare un altro oggetto che è solo un puntino nel buio, raggiungendolo guardando solo un ago su un quadrante e delle istruzioni da un computer navigatore costruito ad hoc, che carica le istruzioni da un nastro.
Estrarrai il LEM dall'interno del Saturn IV, dopo che questo ti ha spinto su una traiettoria che intercetterà la Luna. Scenderai nel LEM freddo e buio, e lo attiverai per poi chiudertici dentro e scendere sulla luna.
Lo abbandonerai nuovamente dopo averlo riportato in orbita, eseguito manovre orbitali assistito da uno dei computer più complessi e avanzati mai costruiti: l'AGC. Imparare ad utilizzare l'AGC, uno strumento divenuto leggendario essendo impossibile alle persone comuni poterlo anche solo vedere in funzione da quando è stato dismesso, non ha prezzo. Nel mio caso, la spinta che mi ha consentito di non demordere e riuscire ad arrivare al grado di approfondimento maggiore (missione lunare) è stato proprio quello di voler entrare nella ristretta cerchia di persone che possono dire di avere una vaga idea di come si pilota una missione Apollo dall'inizio alla fine.
Il titolo del gioco, credo, sia legato all'esperienza di rientro atmosferico. Un passaggio che, specialmente le prime volte, sarà una esperienza estremamente coinvolgente e spiazzante.
Credo a questo punto che le ore accumulate con questo gioco, invece di procedere ad un progressivo rallentamento, continueranno ad essere costanti come lo sono gli aggiornamenti e ampliamenti che vengono apportati, quasi come fosse un nuovo compagno per un periodo della vita.

This is as close to the real thing it seems, It is a study level simulator and is worth every penny. I can't wait for further VR support and multiplayer support. I see alot of potential with this.

Geek paradise. Not suitable for action game players who want violent action. Instead you have to patiently learn how to perform to protocols and understand some basic astrophysics in simulated environments.
The game is brilliantly executed and appears to be close to a faithful reproduction of the front facing NASA development program elements to meet the moon landing project. It's great value and well worth supporting.

Reentry is the most realistic space flight simulator currently on the market. You will learn all of the procedures necessary to launch four spacecraft, including the lunar launch vehicle, building your confidence in space missions. It includes an academy to teach you the basics, and plenty of scenarios to give you practice. As a bonus, several historical flights are reproduced for you to fly as well.
It is supported by an active Discord community, helping you feel connected and supported as you explore space simulation and learn from fellow astronauts.

I'd really like to see this game get more polished. As it is, things just start to break down with Apollo especially. Checklists are borderline useless at times, entries have names that are absolutely not clear what they are meant to be or are outright completely different to what's actually written on the switch it's referring to. The 9th Apollo Tutorial (SPS maneuvres) was a desaster for me where i got completely lost, also from varying instructions from a checklist vs tutorial that ended up in a huge conflict that i just could not resolve. I've also had straight up bugs where the AGC seemed to malfunction, and had to essentially be turned off and on again to work.
Switch names and their names in checklists in general really need a do-over, they need to be consistent and easier to understand. Especially because a game like this completely revolves around checklists. Some tasks do not get explained at all (like setting the Event Timer in Apollo just gets casually mentioned and i had to google to figure out where you do that). The game also *really* needs a search function - both for switches so you can see where a specific one is you can't find, and also for checklists. When there are 100+ checklists, even finding the right checklist becomes a challenge. In an ideal world, any item in a checklist could be clicked on to centre the camera on the item in question in the cockpit. That kind of QoL is missing, the existing Run checklist function helps some but it's not perfect either and there will be a lot of items that are "make sure YXZ" with no hint where that is.
Aside from that, you get a unique simulator with literally hundreds of functional buttons and a simulation of Spacecraft from currently Mercury over Gemini to Apollo, including electrical systems, heat and life support management. If you're a space nerd, and want to know what it actually takes to pilot one of the american capsules from the space race era (or you just want to flip the famous SCE to AUX yourself), this is the game. You won't find another one like this. Just be prepared to get frustrated by various issues / bugs.

The earlier missions, Mercury and Gemini are easier because of the minimal amount of controls and switches. Manipulating the camera view takes some experimenting and some practice. Game overall has a pretty chill vibe. One can take their time, pause to read information. There is a wealth of knowledge and the author has done a fine job.

Born in the UK in late 1963 I was 5 years old when Neil Armstrong stepped onto the surface of the moon in the summer of 1969. I still remember this event and the lead up to it. The Apollo programme featured extensively in children’s comics and magazines. We had free Apollo plastic toys inside breakfast cereal boxes and Airfix provided a range of models including a large Saturn V and a detailed Lunar Module.
I was obsessed with space and astronomy as a child and still am now. The Apollo programme inspired me into a career in computing and I built an analogue electronic computer simulator of the moon landing from the plans in Practical Electronics magazine in 1978 aged 15. My first computer was a ZX81.
Despite my youth the historical importance of Apollo was not lost on me. This would be the first time that a human would step foot onto a world other than the Earth. I feel so lucky and blessed to have experienced this event in my lifetime.
Reentry is a superb simulation of the three US programmes and spacecraft (Mercury, Gemini and Apollo) that culminated in the moon landings themselves in the 1969-72 period. This is clearly a labour of love created by the developer and a huge thank you for making this happen. If you have any interest in spaceflight you should ensure you buy this product and make time to study both the included documentation and the archived genuine NASA manuals which are available on the internet.

Loving working through all the lessons and campaigns. I've completed Mercury and Gemini. It's not a walk in the park!

Großartiger Kapsel-Simulator, wenn nicht sogar der beste auf dem Markt.
Ich habe bis jetzt nur die Mercury Academy bestanden, muss aber sagen, dass es sich nicht wie Arbeit angefühlt hat.
Die Entwickler haben relativ früh im Tutorial den ersten Raketenstart eingebaut, was einem auch das Gefühl gibt "weiter" zu kommen, während man stets mehr Funktionen der Kapsel erforscht.
Die Grafik ist exzellent für den Zweck und Bugs konnte ich bis jetzt auch noch nicht ausmachen.
Wenn man Weltraum-Enthusiast ist und/oder gerne die ersten Flüge der Menschen ins All nachempfinden/simulieren möchte, dann sollte man unbedingt einen Blick wagen!

If you are a real aircraft pilot and are interested in space flight, this is an awesome experience learning about the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo spacecraft and how they functioned. I learned orbital mechanics from KSP but this is an entirely different and much more realistic experience inside the cockpit. From as early as I can remember, I wanted to be an astronaut so this has been fabulous.

This simulator was on my recommended list on the Steam home page. It looked intriguing. When I saw it was a full recreation of not 1, not 2 but 3 of the most famous space rockets of all time, my jaw hit the floor!
So much praise needs to be given to this solo developer for working on this incredible project for 10 years. Not just this but his involvement with the community is just as good as, if not better than, any professional level game with a whole team of developers. It just astounds me!
If you are a spaceflight enthusiast or a fan of the Mercury, Gemini or Apollo projects, than this is a must get. I started playing with Gemini and, as a bit of a geek with the craft, I can safely say that this is the best looking and functioning simulator I have ever seen. Nearly every single button, switch, dial, knob, lever and gauge works and has it’s own system associated with it. Real world procedures are of course used. The amount of research and programming that has gone into this is just phenomenal.
However, every game needs some constructive criticism. For Re-entry - A Space Flight Simulator, this would be the tutorials for me. All games need a good tutorial, especially this one. If it were me, I would slowly introduce topics while only giving the information necessary to fly the rocket with nothing extra. Re-entry does not do this. The tutorials offer lengthy and technical explanations with a lot of text to read. A LOT of text. This is really overwhelming even after doing the tutorials over and over again. To improve, I would love to see a set of easy to follow, interactive and engaging tutorials with minimal information, just to get the rocket going so you can land on the moon. This is rocket science after all! Making users read manuals, deciphering small text boxes and watching lengthy YouTube videos is not an acceptable way to make tutorials. If this were to be changed, the simulator would be much more enjoyable and rewarding rather than you getting dejected and angry over a button you can’t find due to giant leaps in overlooked systems. Looking at you Apollo!
Overall, this is definitely the game of 2025 for me. When you do manage to get into space and back down to Earth again, it is a great feeling. Many childhood dreams come true with this and I hope development will continue in the future! I look forward to getting my hands on the Space Shuttle DLC when it releases too. Forget KSP, SFS and KSA. This is the future for realistic spaceflight simulation.
I have been wanting an accurate simulation of real spacecraft for a long time, having played A-OK Wings Of Mercury in the past and really enjoyed it. I have no interest in the silly boggle eyed gremlins, I wanted to fly Mercury, Gemini and Apollo hardware. And now I can!
So far I have got as far as completing the Mercury campaign, the earliest (and simplest) American space programme. Even though the external graphics are slightly basic in places, this doesn't detract from the high level of accuracy, good replication of the cockpits, and atmospheric experience of taking the capsule into orbit and back again, relying on real methods of navigation and attitude control. Next to master is the Gemini capsule, a two man mission to explore rendezvous and docking in earth orbit, before finally heading for the moon itself in Apollo - both the command module and lunar module can be piloted. If you have ever wanted to experience the golden age of American space flight, this is as close as you can currently get. Strap in and be ready to set SCE to AUX! What a ride.
I would recommend this game to a close friend or a relative.

Großartige Simulation für alle, die sich für das amerikanische Raumfahrtprogramm der 1960er/1970er interessieren. Habe die Entwicklung von Anfang an verfolgt und jetzt nach dem Abschluss der Beta-Phase angefangen, es ernsthaft zu spielen. Ich spiele in VR (anders spiele ich überhaupt nicht mehr).
Sehr empfehlenswert schon in der Version 1.0, auch wenn noch viele Entwicklungsschritte fehlen!
Awesome graphics and system accuracy
It's a great Reentry simulator. They worked well on the control options for keyboard players without track IR and for the ones that have it all. There is a lot to learn and then to play, the academy is a great way to learn a module with the manuals. Later when you start a mission / campaign, the handholding is done and it's up to you on how to work with all the available checklists and ways to use the system of the spacecraft. Multiplayer is still to come, we are looking forward to it and all the things that's yet to come.
