I didn't know what to expect with this game but I absolutely loved it, it may not be for everyone but for me it's a 10/10. Heartwarming, silly and very fun to play. The characters are lovely, music is great, the world is absurd and weird, I really enjoyed everything about it.

I wanted to like this game so badly. I stuck with it through the end, and I collected pretty much everything I could, and at the end I just feel pretty nothing towards Promise Mascot Agency. There's so much here to like but it does not give enough in return to recommend outright. Paradise Killer is one of my favorite games and Promise Mascot Agency didn't deliver as a follow-up.

The various mascots are fun to meet and their stories range between being silly to heartwarming. There's a few mascots that felt like filler more than they felt like actual realized characters that the developers truly wanted to include but they are far from the worst things about Promise Mascot Agency. That said, the worst here is far from being the worst it could be. The biggest problems I had are all gameplay oriented. As you drive around, find new mascots to recruit, and find resources and collectibles to help upgrade your agency and the mascots themselves, it all just sort of felt like it lead to nothing. Progression is this constant ramp upwards to expanding your crew and giving yourself more cards to use in the card-game portion of the game, but you're never challenged and the final moments of the game rid you of any chance to put your mascots and allies to the test that you've been upgrading the whole game.

The story itself is wacky in premise but in execution plays out like a very typical redemption/betrayal tale. In the 22 hours I put into this game, I feel like the story itself does not have enough to span that long. Granted, a lot of that time is doing side quests and driving around, but the actual story segments get drawn out with repeating the same style of 'drive here, meet this person, do a quest to gain their trust, and repeat' pretty much up until the last few hours. The characters are fun, but by the end it felt as though there was too much focus on a large abundance of characters that are pretty surface level as opposed to having less characters that I could connect with more besides liking their one or two character traits.

Overall, Promise Mascot Agency is not a *bad* game, but I feel as though my time with it didn't give much. Most of the time is working towards a finale that doesn't utilize all the effort you've put in. It's not an unenjoyable game, it just didn't feel worth it at the end.

Take a Yakuza sidequest, make a full game out of it, hire the Voice Actor of Kiryu Kasuma to voice the hardened Yakuza, ???, Profit!

It's every bit as absurd as it looks in the trailer... no maybe a bit more even. And I love every minute of it. Plus it's upsetting the conservative crowd. Couldn't buy it fast enough.

This game rules. The concept is simple - its a legally-distinct Yakuza mini-game, in which you drive/platform a kei-truck around a stuck-in-the-80s slice of fictional Japan collecting stuff, managing a colorfully well-written cast of mascots, all while listening to a banging soundtrack. Highly recommended!

The positive press surrounding this game is heavily astroturfed. Not only is the game filled with, let's say "subject matter" that trashcan bluesky game-journo types devour with a smug smile, but kaizen gameworks is also proudly funded by the UK government.

If you're not interested in supporting that sort of thing, stay well away.

Great game, very silly. There is some comparison to the Yakuza series but that's a formula that works very well on me. Gameplay wise, you're driving around and collecting thing while you menu manage the business. some minigames thrown in to mix things up. very fun time, I got it for $20 and was very satisfied.

Uma delícia de jogo de dirigir e de gerenciar mascotes. É como se o minigame de gerenciar negócios do Yakuza tomasse anabolizantes (positivo) e virasse um jogo por si só. O humor é absolutamente besta mas os personagens são engraçadinhos e carismáticos de um jeito que segura bem a plot até o final.

Minha recomendação pessoal é que você não tente fazer tudo, vai atrás só do que você achar interessante de completar.

Não é do mesmo naipe do Paradise Killer, mas é uma primazia de jogo. Muito gostoso de dirigir e o loop de gameplay é bem viciante. Recomendo fortemente.

Promise Mascot Agency has a bit of everything; a visual novel storyline with various dialogue choices, collecting upgrades around the map, minigames using cards to help your mascots, gacha machines. Not to mention the mascots being some of the most unique and endearing character designs I've come across with excellent voice acting.

I can't recommend this game enough.

I would actually have recemmended this were it not for the absolutely insanely long essays of text at every single interaction, of which there are A LOT, and even that might be fine if it weren't that there's no language choices for the the audio track. So this game made by a UK team, in the UK, provided only Japanese audio. Great if you're Japanese I guess. But I'm not, so... I found this a great shame, it seems fixable too though, so hopefully one day they put out an update for that.

Until they update it (if they ever do that), unless you're fluent in Japanese, at least wait for it to be 60% off or more. (The full Aussie retail price right now is at AUD$ 36.50.) Simply because it's way too much reading and the v.o. is useless. I did expect at that kind of price, and the devs being from the UK, for there to be multiple language options for the audio.

This was an otherwise super fun game, but man, the essays of text is already way too much, and then it's all to be read because the v.o. is useless. Hopefully, they use some of that pricetag to hire some v.o.'s in other languages. Ideally also an editor to trim down the dialogue.

An absolutely delightful experience and a huge step up from the developer's original game.

I HATED Paradise Killer. It felt like a terrible slog. Trapped in a vast, empty map where you were forced to run everywhere because money was hard to come by, you had no idea what you'd need it for, and fast travel was expensive... all while trying to solve a mystery which you can only do by talking to the same NPCs over and over... it felt like the developers absolutely didn't understand what was fun about games.

Promise Mascot Agency is a huge improvement in every dimension. You can get fast travel early, you manage a business so there is always something to do while traveling, you can use items to skip the minigame (the items that give 20% probability to help work almost every time), there is always a new thing to find that is clearly labeled on the minimap, travel is fun and only gets more fun as you upgrade the truck (which is free and done wherever you are! You just need to find the upgrades), the characters all have their own stories and arcs... it's truly a romp. There were some times when I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do, but eventually everything was clear. This isn't a hard game; you'll only have difficulty making and keeping money in the beginning, but it is a fun game and that was ultimately exactly what I wanted.

For a long time I didn't get it because the mascots looked awful, now I love it because those awful looking dummies all followed their dreams. A wonderful game experience.

Wacky mix of free roam collect-a-thon and lightweight management sim, with an unmistakably Western indie flavour (the developer, Kaizen Game Works, is a British studio) despite leaning so heavily into its Japanese setting.
Gameplay-wise it is addictive driving around trying to collect everything, although the constant prompts in the early game to send money back home can become disruptive and annoying. The humour is well executed and the characters, be they mascots or human, are warm and likeable. It also doesn't outstay its welcome; I finished the game in just over twenty hours.
Highly recommended. Runs great on Steam Deck.

Promose Mascot Agency was an amazing game from beginning to end. I had a great time with it, and as a completionist, I managed to get everything done in under 22 hours, which felt perfect. The story is great, the gameplay is fun, and the characters were easily one of my favorite parts of the game.

I wasnt sure what the positive reviews on this game are about, so I gave it a try.

What I got was a short game thats just plain fun and put a smile to my face. It took an hour or so of exposition and tutorials to really get going, but once you can just drive around and get more and more reasons to drive around and collect all the small stuff on the map, I really started enjoying myself.

It has its flaws. The card battles go from "just pick the highest number" to "just pick the one with the most pulls", and in general some of the smaller systems feel like they dont have much depth to it. But it all ends up as just being sort of "reasons" for you to drive around, collect and explore.

You want money, so you recruit mascots in the world. Them making money leads to card battles, which nudge you to upgrade cards, so you do collectathon quest for these upgrades within the world and collect the cards themselves. And everytime a new system opens up, new stuff gets scattered around the map.

Once you get some of the driving unlocks, it becomes even more fun to drive and fly around. The grinding especially can enable you some funny speed-ups to get fast around the island. Even after unlocking fast travel, I preferred just driving around.

The game storywise isnt groundbreaking, but its sweet and the mascots and humour have a lot of charm to them.

If you got a weekend and search a small, chill game you can just play for a weekend and enjoy yourself, this is one.

Loved the first half of the game. Not so much for the other half.

The story was fine. The main casts are great although I do wish we could see more interaction between them and the protagonist's family.

My major issue with the game is that half way through they pretty much stopped caring about the agency side and focused entirely on the main story. The game's story is not bad. But, not great either. I wished they had focused more on the agency's management gameplay loop and expanded it more.

I can't believe that I loved this game as much as I did. Nearly 100%'d everything as the game is just so darn compelling. Open yourself up to something a little silly and kooky, and you'll be rewarded with a surprisingly well written story and gameplay that is an absolute blast from cruising the streets in a Kei truck to campaigning Pinky for mayor, playing claw machine games, managing a mascot agency, collecting cards for battle, and so on. Promise Mascot Agency almost feels like a game from another era (looking at you, Dreamcast), but whether it's a nostalgia factor or just great game design, this game is well worth your money. I wish I could play it for the first time again.

I think this might be the first time I've requested a refund for a game I didn't enjoy; as I approached the 2 hour cut off, it felt as though I'd only spent about 10% of that time actually playing a game with the other 90% spent reading text. The story is quirky and funny, but if I wanted to experience a story told through the medium of text I would pick up a book. If I'm playing a game I expect to spend most of my time actually interacting with something, not just passively reading. It's not that I hate the idea of a game having a story, but at least make some effort to tell that story through the gameplay or exploration, rather than lazily relying on lengthy passive sections with zero interactivity. This feels like it should have been a manga instead of a game.

I've spent 41 hours, finished everything and I still want to play more. I just want to be in the world some more and that's really impressive. Once again, Kaizen Gameworks have absolutely nailed the vibe.

Fun story, unique and inspired characters, brilliant moment to moment writing. My partner noted I laughed a bunch which is rare for me with a game, as I'm usually pretty jaded and dead inside.

The management aspect never feels like you're just waiting around for something to finish, you've always got things to do and places to explore while the management aspect ticks along in the background.

Driving the truck and getting its upgrades is fun, it makes the exploration itself more fun than just walking or running everywhere. Especially one of the upgrades which requires a little bit of practice to master the movement.

I can't wait for whatever Kaizen do next. I played their last game, Paradise Killer after getting it free from Epic over Christmas, and on finishing it immediately bought this. They're the kind of developer that nails the most important thing, the vibe, no matter what it is they're working on. It's a crime that their games haven't blown up as much as they deserve.

+++ Slowly get richer and richer - and watch as the plot thickens!
+++ Find all kinds of crazy odd easter eggs with no explanation what so ever
+++ Upgrade cards for some card-fight mechanics - I usually dislike those, but here? 10/10
+++ Clean up trash. Sometimes it's all you really need after a long day at work.

I just completed the game after 39.2 hours. What a game! The trailer doesn't do it justice at all, it's much better than I expected. Great story telling, haven't encoutered a single bug during my playthrough and the voice acting is also brilliant. Would definitely recommend

There are so many ways I can describe this game:

- A smartly-written visual novel that forgot until a week before deadline that it was supposed to be a Yakuza parody.
- The creator of Easy Delivery Co leaning hard-manic into a new project after someone told them to "lighten up a bit".
- What would happen if Hayao Miyazaki tried to plagiarize Sam & Max.
- The useless driving bits from No More Heroes, getting a new job as the navigation menu for a visual novel.
- An experiment to see what happens when you introduce ticking-clock elements to a cozy business management sim.
- An "Airplane!" style send-up of quirky things foreigners know about Japanese pop culture.

It's difficult to describe exactly what this game is without making it sound derivative, but the core of its brilliance is in how you could enjoy this game's world & story without having to know a single thing about Japan, because [i]the writing is just that good[/i]. It respects the player's intelligence enough to not have audience surrogate characters pointing & going "OMG is that a yakuza janitor making his truck do Tony Hawk grinds on a fence while the squealing cartoon finger in the back is running for mayor?". No, they let YOU observe that as weird & through their actions show how this is perfectly work-a-day normal to them. Which means the rare moments when a character [i]does[/i] start to argue with reality become more poignant - and OH WOW do they pick some choice things for characters to start having flabbergasted objections to!

The mascot designs are also very smart. Instead of going full "Island Of Misfit Toys", most of these "unwanted" mascots either embody principles that just aren't inherently popular (e.g. grave markers, toxic work-stress, aging) or who due to the quirks of mascot reproductive biology have qualities that don't quite mesh (e.g. a cute choco-strawberry dog with a deep resonant voice, a marshmallow fairy shaped like a severed finger).

Furthermore, their desires & goals aren't strictly defined by what they are. They are more than just their ostensible biological function. Born as a cat-shaped avatar of yams, but you'd rather be in the adult film industry? Cool story friend, get in the truck, you can sit next to the business cat that dreams only of revenge.

It really is amazing how deep and funny & insightful & touching a game can be while keeping the core gameplay this simple & engaging. Functionally, you play as the truck. You get all sorts of little movement add-ons to make that core traversal more robust & varied, but aside from twaddling business management menus & pressing A to get to the next dialogue, the gameplay is mostly driving around an island searching for pickups. But when you get wrapped up in the well-written storytelling, the stellar VO work, & the absolutely charming soundtrack, it [i]feels[/i] like you're doing so much more.

I can see how this game ended up on so many GOTY lists in 2025, and it deserves all that praise & more.

They did an amazing job creating a fully realized island to explore. It feels like a real place, with it's own folk mythology and legends, buried secrets, beautiful landscapes, and tons of interesting people and quests to find. Driving around Kaso-Machi you really get the feeling of being on a cursed island off the coast of Japan; the whole area just has so much character to experience.

Gameplay is great and always leaves you with something that you want to do next to the point that you can put hours into the game almost without even realizing it. Graphics have a fun kind of Ps2 feeling to them that suits the tone, writing is great (character moments especially) and voice acting is great. Whoever did Michi absolutely killed it with the whole "stoic yakuza" vibe.

I love this game.
The writing is fantastic, every character is so well fleshed out and together they create and engaging world with a beautiful island to explore in your little truck. The island mystery has twists and turns that keep you engaged as you save a dying town a raise it up to fulfill everybody's dreams! Once I picked it up I really couldn't put it down. The gameplay loop just works perfectly, adding new things to keep up with as you progress. There's always something to do, somewhere to go, items to collect!

Superficialmente a premissa do jogo seria: e se os jogos da franquia Yakuza (ou Like a Dragon) fossem apenas os seus minijogos cheios de porraloucagens e deixassem de fora as partes melodramáticas? Digo, é uma história que envolvem yakuzas, com suas guerras entre os clâs, seu protagonista é praticamente Kazuma Kiryu em todos os aspectos exceto pelo nome, tem vários personagens toscos fazendo bizarrices e envolvem vários minijogos dentro do contexto de simulador de gerenciamento de uma empresa de fachada.

Na prática é bem diferente pois esse jogo não é um brawler ou um RPG de turno. Metade do jogo é um típico simulador de gerenciamento, no caso uma gerência de empresa de agente de mascotes, onde terá que lidar com muita papelada e planilha, manejando contratação de mascotes, seu treinamento e interação pessoal, assim como estrutura do prédio para melhorar seu treinamento.

E a outra metade funciona como um simulador de direção, onde você dirige uma picape antiga e vai atrás de colecionáveis pela cidade para ajudar tanto na empresa quanto aos mascotes que você encontrará no caminho. Isso sem contar com os upgrades nos carros, que envolvem, turbo, bóia e até asa para planar. Admito que sempre é engraçado ver essa picape velha e enferrujada literalmente voando por aí nesse jogo e apenas por isso já vale a pena.

One of my new all time favorite indie games. Not only is the story fun with a lot of good twists, but the gameplay is extremely addictive trying to make the BEST MASCOT AGENCY AROUND! As someone who has never been a huge fan of driving games (or management sims), this game is so fantastic it makes what could seem boring, really entertaining. I'd highly recommend giving this game a chance if you enjoy Yakuza style humor and fun indie games.

this is one of those games that creates a Feel. you may or may not enjoy the Feel, but it is there. This is an extremely heartwarming, soulrending tale of what it means to live in a small town and have dreams, and they've carefully wrapped it in absurdity so you don't get too dragged down in it.

Promise Mascot Agency is a narrative-driven open world RPG where you play as an ex-yakuza tasked with running a mascot agency and revitalizing a cursed town. This game is an absolute delight, from the ridiculous premise to the nonsensical character designs and the hilarious gameplay elements that shouldn't feel cohesive, but they do. The game doesn't take itself too seriously, and that allows it to embrace its own weird world where sometimes, people are just severed fingers. The voice acting is stellar, with each character being brought to life no matter how strange they'd otherwise seem. The gameplay loop is fun, and there was plenty to explore throughout town, lots of stuff to collect, and NPCs to get to know. Despite the game's prominent wackiness, there are still so many heartfelt moments that make it easy to fall in love with the characters. The subtle queer representation was not unnoticed and stands as the perfect nod to make real people feel seen. There's so much love put into this game, and it's for that reason I so easily got sucked into it. I had such a great time with this game from start to finish, and I cannot recommend it enough to anyone who enjoys a bit of silly but heartwarming fun.

在一个百无聊赖的下午点开了这个游戏，已经完全想不起来什么时候买的了。结果开始玩之后就很入迷，居然三天就白金了...当然不得不提的是此游十分容易白金，不强迫玩赛车小游戏 [/spoiler] 和全收集让人感觉十分友好。
想说的话很多！开头进村的那段演出很精彩，音乐非常浓郁美妙，直到我意识到似乎开车是游戏主要玩法之一...刚开始时因为本身就开车苦手再加上游戏里的卡车体感有些诡异，无数次想弃游。但后来又觉得瑕不掩瑜，继续努力玩下去了。再到后面发现这个“瑕”可以通过升级变成“瑜”，游戏进程就变得很愉快。
剧情方面我觉得对于这个体量的游戏来说刚刚好，紧凑却不复杂的故事，也有一定的反转。但不得不说黑田叔的配音让我很难代入主角人设，打到结局都觉得自己在打某个桐生一马支线任务，甚至主角也有个长发花哨美男结拜兄弟。这一点感觉有点可惜，其实黑田的其他配音我都可以跳出桐生frame但是这里就完全做不到。抛开这一点，npc和福神的很多设定都很可爱、多元。很喜欢豆腐和过劳死！
玩法其实到了中后期（15h左右）会觉得有些单一，因为收集品和好感度支线都做得差不多了，福神经营和战斗也变得很重复。但不得不说刚开始的那段时间十分上头，的确让我产生了一种在炎热的夏日和朋友一起开启小镇探险的nostalgia. 很喜欢游戏对玩家在探索方面的弱引导，开地图的时候真的到哪里都很振奋。这种感觉也很久没有在游戏里找到过了。打到彩蛋的时候才后知后觉是天堂岛的制作组...无论如何都会支持你们的下一个游戏！

Loved the game, felt like I was playing an elaborate Yakuza business mini game in the best way possible.
But it did feel like the devs had ideas that they didn't implement fully, hoping they do with any sequels they may have planned.
The card game has the potential to be something, the business aspect ends too fast, would be nice to be able to see a thriving mascot empire, feels like it ends just before it gets there.
I definitely got my money's worth and I sunk in 24 hours into the game in 3 or 4 days so it's very safe to say I enjoyed it, but I really wanted to be able to use the op cards I got and the money I earned in a meaningful way post game but there was nothing like that.
Recommended, thoroughly enjoyable, looking for a game with more scope from the devs, hope this was a success that enables that for them.

桐生一马在莫名其妙的异世界变成桐生二马依然要背黑锅的游戏，玩过如龙的话基本开局就能猜出谁是幕后黑手了，桐生二马你也好惨啊……

✅️对成就党极其友好，除主线之外的收集做个50%+对着攻略稍微找找就能拿到全成就，最难的那个成就也有20%以上的玩家打出来了
✅️角色设计很有创意（是这个工作室的强项），尤其是担任女主的小指头，一开始觉得“这是人脑能想出来的东西吗”但后期硬是看顺眼了越看越可爱
✅️撑过前期略显冗长的剧情后莫名其妙地就能一直玩下去，剧情跟玩法确实没什么特别吸引人的亮点，就是不断地开车跑图开车跑图，然而让人有一口气玩到底的欲望

❌️【我个人认为最大的缺点】三分之一左右的台词装载了质量上乘的日文配音，游戏背景也是严格设定在日本；但中文本地化是基于英文文本翻译的，这就导致文本风格跟游戏体验非常不搭配。制作游戏的工作室在英国，因此英文文本算是初版文本，将英文文本当成源文本进行本地化也可以理解；然而根据实际体验来看属于较大的失误。比如“社长”“组长”“大哥”“大姐”这类日翻中常用词汇，英文文本统一使用的是"boss"，翻译为中文就都变成了“老板/老大”。此类例子比比皆是，玩起来割裂感很重。我自己处理过不少日→英→中 / 英文母语者写的日系内容→中这种类型的翻译工作，甲方不做特别要求的话就要看翻译的工作能力和处理方式了，为了玩家/观众的体验着想还是要尽可能地去英味、往日味上靠拢；考虑到甲方最开始提供的就是英文文本，许多地方翻译不准确也是没办法的事，然而整体看来这游戏的中文本地化完全没做“日系文本风格”方面的考量，总结一下就是甲方考虑不周担80%的主要责任，翻译有点子偷懒了也要分摊20%的锅。

Game's deeply japanese and draws a lot on various cultural phenomena, which was also pretty cool to see.

I have tried explaining this game and why it is so fun to several people and I fail every time.

Bizarre. Fantastic. Addictive. Fun.

This game exists in the Kazuma Kiryu canon as far as im concerned.

Its like a mini Yakuza game, but with all the driving replacing fighting.

No spoilers but... the driving and exploring is weirdly fun and only gets more engaging as you progress.

Easy to 100%, and judging by the trophies, most people are engaged enough to make it to the end.

J'ai adoré Promise Mascot Agency.
Le setting est particulier, et c'est LE truc qui peut repousser : on joue un yakuza qui merde salement une mission importante, et est envoyé par sa famille dans un vieux bled paumé pour gagner un max de pognon en remettant sur pieds une agence de mascottes.
Et c'est là où ça peut piquer pour la plupart je pense : les mascottes ont un design très particulier : un doigt de pied, un morceau de tofu, un maki, etc... et en plus ce sont des rebuts de la société. L'objectif est de gagner de l'argent avec notre agence, et il faut donc que la ville se porte bien pour attirer autant de monde que possible.
Et malheureusement, la ville (et même l'île) est complètement à l'abandon : magasins fermés, poubelles partout, sites abandonnés...Après au final le scénario s'avère assez profond et pas débile, même s'il s'appuie sur quelques tropes japonais bien connus, mais ça reste bien plus limité qu'on pourrait croire avec les mascottes en tête de pont 😄

Niveau boucle de gameplay par contre c'est excellent. Il y a 2 aspects en gros : la partie gestion des mascottes qui est très simplistes et ne prends pas tant de temps que ça au final et les ballades en ville pour aller voir des pnj et faire du collectathlon (nettoyage des poubelles, péter les panneaux de propagande du maire, récolter des objets pour les pnj, trouver des héros de soutien, etc... c'est assez varié même si ça reste in fine la même chose).
La gestion des mascottes se résumé en gros à : "on a des missions, il faut envoyer des mascottes, il vont remplir la mission et gagner de la thune". De temps en temps une mascotte va avoir besoin d'aide sur un truc débile, et on envoie des héros, on a alors un mini jeu de cartes où il faut envoyer les héros les plus adaptés, dans le meilleur ordre possible, pour tomber une barre de vie. Et ces héros donc on les collecte en ville, et on les améliore en aidant les pnj.
On peut ajouter qu'au début la camionnette est basique, mais on débloque petit à petite des améliorations qui font que c'est un vrai plaisir de se balader sur l'île et fouiller partout (par exemple, à un moment elle peut planer, et en fait ça devient plus ou moins un avion, on peut débloquer un lance missile aussi, etc...)
Y a 0 combat, la boucle de gameplay c'est vraiment collecte pour débloquer des missions, des héros et améliorations, envoie des mascottes pour récolter de la thune, rénovation de divers aspects de la ville ou de l'agence, etc... Mais c'est hyper plaisant de remplir toutes ses jauges. D'autant plus qu'il y a d'autres trucs qui se débloquent dont j'ai pas parmé évidemment.

Bref, je recommande fort, excellent moment. Et c'est court puisque ça se plie en une quinzaine d'heures en 100% trophées (mais plein de trucs sont accessoires donc c'est pas le 100% du jeu).
La trad FR est très cool aussi, avec des références assez marquées par moment 😄

This game was worth it for Pinky's dialogue alone.
Fantastic characters that you get attached to even though some are VERY offputting, great soundtrack and humor, visually pleasing game
The map is decently sized and it is very fun to explore. Having an indestructible truck definitely is beneficial here.

I do wish the game was a drop more challenging/interactive. It is more of a visual novel.
My one big gripe though is [spoiler]the ending is unsatisfying. Michi's reward for doing hard work is just more work. We never see Pinky become the mayor. Your crew goes into the mines to clean it out then nothing happens, and there's no reward or secret ending for completing all of the tasks 100%. I needed more closure dammit![/spoiler]

Despite that, I highly recommend this game and would 100% play any DLC or sequels.

The game started off really nice with a very interesting concept Kiryu Kazuma hiring mascots. However, after my 6th hour, the game got really, really boring. I’m making almost no progress toward paying off that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ debt, and there are so few mascots compared to the number of jobs I’m getting. Upgrading the truck was fun, but after a certain point, I had nothing left to upgrade. I must say, the story is also really boring. A good chunk of the text doesn’t have voice-over, so it’s just moaning and grunting. I had to set up an auto-clicker to skip them all it was that boring.

Long story short, the game is really fun at first, but it definitely doesn’t hold up in the long run. I feel like this game should be 6–8 hours max.

never in my life have i so badly wanted to simply kiss the mind of the creator of something. i cannot even begin to explain this game in a way that is succinct or truly does it justice. i'm not much of a visual novel game player - aside from the occasional few - but this game is damn near perfection. it's somehow an open world, visual novel, deck building, creature collector with room to add some of the most ridiculous side-quests and upgrades. i think everyone should play this and only this.

Promise Mascot Agency is in between a visual novel, business management and a fantasy truck driving game in an open world.

The thing you spend most of your time doing is driving a truck. But this is a magic truck. There is a relatively large open world environment to drive across, filled with mountains, valleys, rives and lakes, giant statues. You gain upgrades to the truck over time, like being able to fly somewhat similar to Super Mario 64 style, though with more control via a recharging boost. The truck has some weight, so it won’t react instantly, or feel floaty. There were many times I would misjudge my angle and smash into something and go tumbling, but it felt like part of the charm, somehow. The truck requires a bit of skill to drive well, but not enough to be too frustrating. There are many items to find and things to collect, which is what you do in between events.

The Visual Novel side is quite involved, with a lot of story and cutscenes. I found it very entertaining and wanted to push just a little bit further to see what would happen. You spend more of your time driving around, but the story is really the main attraction. If you wanted to just drive around you would probably eventually get bored. but I personally enjoy visual novels, so I cannot really say how other people will enjoy that aspect. Just know that it is a substantial part of the experience. I found everybody so charming, and wanted more time with the mascots.

The business side isn’t complex or difficult. It’s more of an experience than a challenging aspect of gameplay. It is the way you interact with with the many characters and gives you something to do between driving around and advancing the story. The early game might be a bit challenging, because you do have to gain money according to a time limit. However, my tip is that if you keep prioritising the Main story you will eventually unlock a mechanic that you will recognise is a big help with bringing in some extra money. I believe the game autosaves at the beginning of each day to help you with not failing. This isn’t supposed to be a big challenge. Once you get the hang of things, you shouldn’t really have any more troubles after that.

The music adds to the experience, because you do spend quite a lot of time driving around. So its good that the music is excellent.

There are a few other minigames that you can play if you want.

If you want to 100% everything you might get frustrated, but if you aren’t aiming for that you will get a game that gives you a variety of things to with just enough depth to stay interested in the experience as a whole. All the elements together add up to more than the sum of its parts.

플레이 타임이 아주 적절하며, 수집 요소가 많으나 도전 과제에는 적절한 양만 배치되어 있는 것이 맘에 듦.
다만 다른 평가들에도 얘기가 나오듯 스토리가 전형적인 일본 애니메이션 같은 결말이라 취향이 안 맞는다면 스토리는 기대 안 하는 것이 좋음.
오랜만에 재밌는 게임이었다.

キャラの掘り下げやストーリーも、大筋としてはいたってまじめなんだけど、そもそもの世界観が狂っているので、筋の通った狂人に出会った気持ちになれるゲーム。

過疎って腐敗した日本の地方自治体を舞台にしたヤクザの抗争という舞台設定へ、イギリスのゲーム開発会社がどうやって辿り着いたのかという謎は、ゲームをクリアしても全く解けない。

If you ask me, Promise Mascot Agency is one of those wonderfully weird games that sticks with you long after you put the controller down. On the surface, it’s this quirky, almost absurd management sim where you recruit and deploy a team of mascots in a slightly surreal town. But underneath that playful exterior, the story goes in directions I genuinely did not expect. It tackles some surprisingly heavy and thoughtful themes like anti-suicide messaging, gentrification and marginalization, corruption, and the way communities get pushed around by systems that feel bigger than them. None of it feels preachy, though. It’s handled with a strange mix of humour, heart, and sincerity that makes the whole thing land even harder.

The writing is easily the standout. The characters are odd, memorable, and sometimes deeply vulnerable in ways that feel very real despite the absurd premise. There’s a lot of emotional depth hiding behind the jokes, and it’s that contrast that gives the game its personality. It’s funny, but also reflective, and occasionally surprisingly moving. The open world exploration is fine, though not revolutionary. It gives you enough freedom to poke around, soak in the atmosphere, and uncover little moments that flesh out the world. What really elevates it, though, is the game’s jankiness. It’s not always polished, and sometimes systems feel a bit rough around the edges, but that awkwardness somehow makes the experience more charming and engaging rather than frustrating. It feels handmade and a bit chaotic in the best possible way.

I absolutely loved it, even though I completely understand why it might not be everyone’s cup of tea. It’s weird, emotional, and occasionally messy. But if you enjoy games that take risks and lean into their own personality, it’s well worth your time. And if you liked the building and management elements in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, there’s a very good chance this will click with you too. Cheers!

I can't say I've played an open world mascot simulator crime drama before, but here we are! There is something magical about a severed pink mascot edging for you to murder someone and bury a corpse in the woods with her as a bonding experience. This came is all about community and found family, but slathered with a ton of deranged humor that kept things from becoming too cloying. It took me about 25 hours to more or less 100% the game, and I had a blast doing it!

The early game is all about making just enough money to stave off disaster, but once you stabilize things, it becomes a loop of gobbling up cash, upgrading your agency and the town, and solving the crime shenanigans that left you in this situation in the first place. As much silliness as there is, the core plot is grounded and more hard hitting at times than I expected. Also, your truck can glide, grind like a skateboard, and is seaworthy.

As an open world game with collectibles (or their equivalent, this game flags all of the big items on the map, and the smaller check box items populate on the map once you've found 95% of a given item. I love that you have to be thorough but also get a break once you're tracking down the last few things. Once you finish the plot, the game lets you keep playing to pick off whatever's left, and it does so in a way that fits within the plot. Overall outstanding game, and I would love another set in this bonkers world!

I'm head over heels with this game. On the whole, I've loved my time with this game so much. Moving around the world and accomplishing little quests while managing jobs and money has been something I've looked forward to doing nightly while chasing the ending.

If a game generally feels good to move around in, it's got me. Love collecting stuff and exploring, and by the end of the game, I love that I feel like I could navigate around the island without consulting the map. The game came alive for me after just an hour of playtime.

The LOCATIONS are so gorgeous and fun to drive through. There's a really amazing sense of distinct locations on this small island, and one of the most fun things early on was just driving a loop around the world. Going as high as possible and then driving off the cliff to the lowest point, grinding on the railroad tracks was incredible.

The characters in the story are so charming, and everyone feels fleshed out with believable personalities. It was motivating to interact with the characters and look for their items throughout the map!

I loved this game. If you're a fan of Rare-era collect-a-thons, fun movement, and tight stories then you'll love playing this as much as I did.

Dislikes--there's some stuff about the game that can be frustrating. This stuff is generally really nitty gritty and not a huge point of contention with my overall feelings about playing the game :^)

1) if you want to maximize your money, you have to participate in the crane game that gets unlocked midway through. Operating the crane to slowly collect a dozen items--dropping a couple along the way in classic crane-game fashion--still takes a million years to finish even after the update. I understand its atmospheric purpose in the game (and I agree it's a good idea to include this minigame considering the style of game this is) but despite how profitable participating in it can be, I think it's still just really not fun. I'm glad all the not-fun parts of the game like this are optional.

2) the life satisfaction gauge for each mascot takes a while to finish, and it feels necessary to stop all other activities in order to complete this rather than having this task be completable in parallel with other tasks. For example, I could hold "clean trash & sins when I see them" and "look for arcade games" in my mind while driving around doing some other thing, but this mascot management needed me to make this a primary goal by driving back to the agency and clicking through the dozen dialogue boxes etc. I don't know how to make this better, but I wish there was a streamlined way to do multiple mascots at once.
I realized this was part of the game way late, so by the time I realized this was something to maximize, I had like 15 of the mascots who needed the LS. I think I spent an hour or so just rushing through all the dialogue, pausing all jobs in order to have the mascots available to finish their various LS cutscenes. It's also somewhat annoying that I have to wait until the mascots get back from a job or their vacation in order to give them Life Satisfaction, so I can't maximize money--it would have been nice to be able to cancel a job to finish the mascots' stats here.

3) There is a lot of weird geometry in the world that barely grazes the vehicle and sends me careening down a mountain. Thankfully, it feels funny most of the time early in the game, but if I'm just trying to get from one place to another, clipping a pole and having the car shoot off in the opposite direction I'm driving would often make me roll my eyes. It's miraculous how much the plane upgrade for the truck just makes this a complete non-issue though--I think I had finished around 3/4ths of the story by the time I realized I was missing that upgrade!

4) i suppose it ultimately didn't matter how much money I sent to the family in the middle of the game? It's frustrating in retrospect that I sent the family so much while trying to fill the 12B yen meter and it ultimately didn't matter at all if I filled it... I feel like I should have invested all the extra money into the town upgrades and more quickly finished the story.

Anyway! All this small friction might work for other people-- these small issues just made me roll my eyes at worst, and I could always ignore anything that wasn't fun in the moment for something more fun in the main story. Still, I loved loved loved just booting up the game and driving around. The vibes of travelling around town and talking with all the characters more than made up for any small lulls in the optional content. Very highly recommended experience

this is such a great and weird game. i had to stop playing because of the motion sickness unfortunately, but besides that it was hella fun.
