This game is killer. If you loved Wolfenstein 3D then you'll most likely love this since its just that but with some magic spells and an upgrade path for your weapons and said magic spells. Overall it's a killer game but I cant say anything about the soundtrack since I played it with my own music.

Ultimamente estoy jugando muchos boomer shooters, estuvo bueno este la verdad, aclaro que es la segunda vez que lo juego y termino. Arreglaron ciertas cositas que la primera vez que lo termine me molestaron, como por ejemplo cierta forma que podias romper el juego y decir GG EZ, porque era todo un chiste (basicamente tenias una cancelación de animación con el melee y la linterna de luz esa que tenes y basicamente atacabas tan rápido que estabas rotisimo mal).

And as I said above, this game is not trying to be a top game, it's about nostalgia and the atmosphere of retro shooters from the 90s, and Project Warlock does a great job with this. The game is super easy, even on a high difficulty level. The problem with these games is that they can get boring, but playing them once is a lot of fun. Although I completed the game for all the achievements, I had to play it twice, and by the end, it started to get boring, so it's worth playing it once for maximum enjoyment.

Gameplay tip: Shoot the off-brand cyber demon until it dies!

The genre of the so called Boomer Shooter has been rather popular in recent years, spawning a large amount of games that try to recapture the feeling of the classics like Doom 1 + 2 and Quake or combine old school aesthetic modern anemities. My favorite of this kind is Boltgun but after playing it Project Warlock is probably now my Nr. 2.
Gameplay feels very smooth and combat is satisfying in this game, giving you a good mix of tense engagements and classic exploration. It does not feel as crunchy as Boltgun but all weapons sound very satisfying and are fun to shoot. Especially the shotguns are a delight, something very important in games like this. Overall weapon variety is nothing too spectacular but solid with even some melee options thrown in the mix.
Additionally to that you have a selection of spells and a small but robust stat system for very light rpg elements.
Where the game flounders a bit is presentation. I am not entirely sure if it is a conscious design choice to invoke a certain feeling but the menu feels rather rough and placeholder, as well as struggling with directional pad inputs.
There is not much in terms of story to write home about but that is in line with old school games like this so I will not fault it for that.
Overall this is a fun Doom-like game for fans of the genre and very much in the vein of Heretic or Blood.

Weird that a game that's getting a third sequel still has multiple spots where you can fall through the map. (Specifically the castle levels.) It's a game where wallhugging/secret hunting is encouraged and yet once in a while you fall right through the map and have to restart the level.

Not a huge deal when playing on Hard but extremely frustrating when playing with limited lives.

It's a shame because the game is otherwise really solid.

It's an average boomer shooter with poor optimization and issues with controls. The melee weapons felt much more useful than ranged weapons which is weird for a shooter. However, I will say that I like the artstyle and animations. It's not necessarily a bad game, it's just very "meh". I honestly enjoyed the Lost Chapters demo that came with the game a lot more than the actual game itself.

If you're having problems on hard or below then your build is ♥♥♥♥, here is my personal experience:

Playing on hard, just beat the first level of hell. Zero deaths on tank, zero death on sphinx.
In fact I only died twice to the first boss.

Game is almost too easy even on hard, especially once you get the shield spell, but then in snaps back.
If you're having a hard time your build is ♥♥♥♥.

DO NOT buy the axe perk, it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and adds a long as ♥♥♥♥ delay after the third strike and you will eat ♥♥♥♥ against regular mobs. Instead get sprit walk, soul harvesting, the 3str 3 health thingy, scholar?, and the 20% damage off one. And use the sword.
You basically have perma shield and sword hits heal you.

And when it's boss time you have all ammo on all bosses even at 1 collecting or whatever, so you can dynamite/grenade dump the boss then rocket his ass, then if it's still alive (usually dies before you run out of dynamite, except for the tank) railgun its ass.

The big problems are act 4 giga mechs, use the rocket launcher for them.

Don't bother with spells besides shield and execution, except for maybe the discoball but it's too quirky to use and frankly not being able to forget spells clutters your switching inputs.

edit: cleared it in hard, had another death when I fell into a pit. Pretty easy besides that. Pits of death can go choke on a ♥♥♥♥♥.

I’m not a big fan of shooters in general when it comes to video games, however, I have always loved playing the original doom games and quake games.

I saw this a while back and decided to take a chance and purchase it and I would say for the most part. It was pretty fun.

I played the game completely on the steam deck and it ran just fine for the most part of just occasional frame drops, it never crashed either.

I think the concept of upgrading weapons and using magic is cool, my one gripe about that though is you never seemed able to earn enough currency in the game to actually get your items upgraded to a decent level. I never really felt over powerful like in the doom games for example.

It always felt like I was just under powered.

I think the music was cool. I think the levels were well designed, though the fact that they never fixed a couple bugs in the game like being able to get stuck out of the elevator essentially soft locking you is a bit ridiculous. I ended up having to redo a level several times because of this.

I think the game is nice. I wouldn’t spend more than 10 dollars on it, I’m glad that it run’s well in the steam deck and it definitely deserves the verified rating.

Almost finished with the game, I really enjoy many aspects of this boomer shooter and think the aesthetic used throughout the game is really cool. There are bugs like falling through the floor on the sewer level in the first set of stages. Some enemy placement in the latter half of the game is a little annoying at times with the heavy hitting robots. I still am enjoying my time with it throughout all of this though and recommend it still to those that want a uniquely inspired, magic and gun weapon, boomer shooter.

It keeps it simple for you to have fun by shooting enemies trough different scenarios, with some customization to your armoty y spells that give you some feeling of projection in your game. Downside: you will encounter bugs. Either falling trough walls or enemies out of stage hiting you. It downgrades the experiencie, but is not unberable.

Muito bom jogo. Jogabilidade divertida, inimigos com design legais, armas e inimigos variados, segredos com referências a filmes que os boomers vão gostar. O gráfico é lindíssimo com luzes e ambientação incrível. As fases passam bem rápido, algumas com o tamanho ideal, outras nem tanto e bastante segredos para serem descobertos. Os bosses são realmente difíceis mas nenhum memorável como tinha o potencial pra ser.

O jogo tem alguns bugs e erros de level design que te obrigam a recomeçar a fase, mas como são curtas não é um problemas tão grande.

Um destaque para o sistema de evolução do personagem, das armas e das magias, o que o diferencia bastante de um Doom.

Единственным плюсом могу назвать относительно приятную стрельбу.

Визуал лично мне не зашёл абсолютно, разве что есть несколько классных дизайнов врагов (но одновременно с ними и много посредственных). Рисовка сильно перегружена жирными чёрными контурами, враги и интерактивные предметы слабо выделяются на фоне окружения.

Про аудио составляющую не могу сказать ровным счётом ничего, так как она мне не запомнилась ни с хорошей, ни с плохой стороны. Разве что могу отметить раздражающий момент, что в игре нет специального звука при попытке выстрелить из разряженного оружия (обычно в играх, если нет патронов, раздаётся щелчок, появляется надпись или вообще пропадает возможность взять это оружие, а тут просто тишина).

Проходил на высокой сложности, но в ачивках она почему-то названа стандартной. Выше только сложности с, как понимаю, таким же балансом, но ограниченным количеством жизней (если сдох N раз, то всю игру начинаешь заново). Кто захочет проходить это уныние без смертей - без понятия.

Игра очень короткая и лёгкая (не буду скрывать, что с определённого момента пытался как можно скорее наконец-то закончить её, но всё же 4 часа на полное прохождение звучит крайне сомнительно). Почти всё время можно просто бездумно бежать вперёд и непрерывно стрелять из любого оружия, на которое есть патроны, никаких тактических решений принимать не приходится. За все уровни была лишь пара моментов, где не повезло помереть от толпы врагов. Плюс уродские обрывы (как задуманные, так и багованные провалы за границу уровня), которые не создают никаких интересных боевых ситуаций, но мгновенно убивают, если в них случайно провалится (наверное специально для режима с ограниченными возрождениями придумали, чтоб веселее было).

По заветам классических думов персонаж может лишь идти или бежать, ни прыжков, ни других форм передвижения не предусмотрено. Однако в классический Doom2 мне всё ещё интересно играть, а в это - совершенно нет. В старых играх отсутствие прыжка у персонажа не мешало наличию интересных многоярусных уровней, всяким приколам вроде преодоления пропасти с помощью разбега и т.п.

В Project Warlock же все уровни вплоть до четвёртого эпизода полностью плоские, в них нет никакой ярусности или интересной геометрии, никаких визуальных ориентиров, вообще ничего запоминающегося. Да, в игре часто меняется сеттинг и декорации между уровнями, но каждый отдельный уровень сам по себе является максимально унылым набором коридоров и дверей.

Только в четвёртом из пяти эпизодов впервые появляются лифты, перемещающие персонажа между этажами. Это даёт хоть какой-то глоток свежего воздуха, но по факту ничего интересного так и не появляется. Вот я только сейчас, пока пишу это, понял, что в игре нет НИ ОДНОЙ ступенчатой лестницы, хотя никаких технических препятствий к этому нет, геймплею это тоже никак не мешает.

При этом в этой игре, в отличие от классических думов, есть свободная камера (мышкой можно крутить по вертикали), хотя учитывая всё остальное это не имеет ни малейшего смысла. Так как локации плоские, в игре нет ситуаций, когда нужно поднимать или опускать взгляд, чтобы атаковать врага, находящегося на другой высоте. Полноценных летающих врагов в игре нет, в уязвимые точки стрелять не надо. Оставили бы уж тогда чисто горизонтальный поворот, было бы меньше противоречий.

У многих уровней есть большой потенциал заставить игрока тупить не понимая, куда дальше идти. Выше уже упомянул про проблемы здешнего левелдизайна, но их можно было хотя бы компенсировать нормальной мини-картой, однако и тут провал. Мини-карту нельзя увеличить, на ней нет вообще никаких обозначений вроде запертых дверей, она слишком сильно приближена к метке игрока, а в довесок ко всему ещё и полупрозрачная и периодически её вообще сложно разглядеть. Просто бесполезная UIшка висящая в углу.

Видов врагов и оружия много, но индивидуальности у них нет никакой. Всех врагов можно разделить на мясо, что дохнет мгновенно, и мясо, по которому нужно чуть-чуть пострелять. За всё прохождение так и не понял, что делает где-то треть врагов, так как либо они ни разу не успели мне ответить, либо их атаки настолько невыразительны, что их невозможно различить в бою.

Все боссы невероятно простые и скучные, просто бегаешь по кругу и расстреливаешь весь боезапас в огромную тушу на протяжении пары минут.

Оружие делится на бесполезный хлам, что я почти никогда не использовал (ближний бой, магический посох, арбалет, гранаты) и то, что невероятно убойное против вообще любых врагов (всё остальное). Это наверное первый шутер, где я вообще ни разу за игру не задумывался, каким бы оружием воспользоваться в конкретной ситуации или против конкретного врага (разумеется кроме первых пары уровней, когда нет особого выбора, и я ещё надеялся, что эта игра стоит внимания). Просто берёшь любую пушку, что взбредёт в голову, и бездумно расстреливаешь всё перед собой, пока не кончатся патроны, затем берёшь любую другую, ведь спектр применимости у них одинаковый, и делаешь то же самое, по пути восстановив все патроны обратно. Здоровья тоже навалом дают, оно ещё и увеличивается разными способами, так что умереть довольно проблематично.

И всё вышеперечисленное на самой высокой (в плане общего баланса) сложности!

Ещё в игре зачем-то есть прокачка статов, перки, выбор из двух апгрейдов оружия и заклинания. Первые два пункта просто какая-то несусветная глупость, которая игре вообще ни зачем не нужна. Последние два более занимательные и могли бы способствовать разнообразию и глубине геймплея, если бы в основе своей он был бы хоть капли интересным и грамотно сделанным.

В игре в принципе как будто очень много вещей, которые закинули чисто по приколу и неопытности. Вот например игроку изначально, прям с первого уровня, открыто заклинание, работающее как фонарик, но тёмных уровней буквально одна-две штуки на всю игру, они находятся где-то в середине прохождения, и их всё равно можно без проблем пройти без дополнительного освещения. Зачем тогда это было добавлять? Непонятно.

Короче не советую.

TL;DR - купляйте якщо ви фанат FPS

Абсолютно шикарний ретро-шутер, що чудово комбінує ті елементи за які ми любимо класичних представників жанру (на героїв з яких до речі тут є посилання)

Чим гра чудова:
- Прогресія: прокачка відчутна;
- Імпакт: у ворогів є пейн-стейт, зброя сильна і звучить глибоко та виглядає зі смаком попри таку стилізовану графіку;
- Музичний супровід: на кожному з десятків рівнів грає хороша музика, яка і додає шарму боям та не задовбує коли ви лишаєтеся на рівні позбирати секрети;
- Арсенал: тут ми маємо класичну формулу Doom по арсеналу, але з доповненнями у вигляді аж трьох видів зброї ближнього бою, магічного посоху чи власного варіанту BFG який я назву "розчіплювач". Вся зброя за вийнятком малого клинка використовується протягом всієї гри що є так-то ЧУДОВИМ компліментом грі, адже в багатьох подібних іграх умовні дробовики втрачають в актуальності з середини проходження.

З просто хорошого:
- Графіка: ефекти хороші, кольори світів відрізняються та витримують загальний тон гри, маємо таке собі 2.5D;
- Реіграбельність: мисливцям за досягненнями та фанатам білдобудування (хоч тут воно дуже умовне але все ж наявне) захочеться перепройти гру хоча б раз;
- Додатковий контент: в грі є хороший режим виживання та додаткова кампанія.

Тепер буду критикувати гру:
- Покращення: я це вже записав у плюси, але це мінус через реалізацію окремих елементів. До покращень характеристик персонажа претензій немає, але є до купівлі заклинань та покращень арсеналу. Деякі заклинання як наприклад світло в руках є абсолютно безтолковими, а інші поступаються двум-трьом самим сильним якими є щит, заморозка та блискавка. А от щодо арсеналу, то на вибір завжди є 2 покращення, і майже у всіх випадках одне покращення буде ліпше іншого і вибору як такого не стоїть.
- Левел-дизайн: в основному без претензій, але Єгипет (3й епізод з 5ти) дико нудний, а Пекло (5й епізод) є безідейним. ОКРЕМО варто виділити "єгиптоподібний" рівень Пекла - це буквально єдиний рівень на якому я помирав (я пройшов гру на Hardcore складності - найвищій яка не відправляє гравця на старт після смерті) бо я постійно падав у ту нещасну лаву, і замість задорного екшену гравець просто стоїть на місці та вистрілює по-одному демонів щоб просто не почати рівень заново лежачи в лаві через квапливість. Найкращим епізодом варто виділити перший, раз вже було названо найгірший.
- Мале різноманіття ворогів: воно компенсується ближче до кінця гри але рескіни одних і тих же ворогів відверто втомлюють за весь час гри, хоч вона проходиться за декілька вечорів. Найкращий набір ворогів у другому та четвертому епізоді.

В результаті маємо дуже хороший шутер, без вкрай сильних чи вкрай слабких сторін - збалансований з своїми перевагами й недоліками. Рекомендовано кожному фанату жанру FPS.

P.S. Грайте на Hardcore складності щоб відчути хоч якийсь челендж. Гра і без того доволі легка а так хоч іноді доведеться адаптуватися

[b] Enjoyed every minute of it [/b], was never bored. Peak gameplay 10/10, I like the art style, tho demons on different stages are basically reskins, but still are cool with the repective themes (e.g. Industrial, Egypt, Medieval, etc.). So many weapons and I used most of them, but personally I liked the auto shotgun and 4 barrel shotgun the most. Clearing levels is satisfying, secrets are also present here. Definitely buy it if you are a boomer shooter fan.

Боже, какая уе***ская карта. Игра мне по началу очень понравилась, потому что это старый добрый убойный дум, но в пиксельной графикой и без какого-либо платформинга в принципе, тут вся карта абсолютно ровное плоское полотно. Однако, спустя 5 часов я игру удалил с диким отвращением, сейчас объясню почему. 1\ левел-дизайн отсутствует, как класс: просто рандомные коридоры, текстуры такие, что в некоторых локациях двери сливаются со стенами, поэтому же секреты максимально скучны и убоги (просто прокликиваешь пробел по всем стенам), а на большом экране еще и не очень приятно глазам 2\ боссфайты абсолютно неинтересны: спамь самым мощным оружием прямо в лицо боссу и победишь. Проходятся за минуту
3\ ключи/кнопки/выход иногда спавнятся в секретных комнатах, что наталкивает на мысль что это криво сделанная процедурная генерация 4\ враги неинтересны и в целом однообразны между мирами. спеллы бесполезны и ненужны. прокачка почти бесмысленна: все качай в хп и патроны, перки "получаешь на 2 патрона больше" - смешно. 5\ скучно и душно, под конец уже через силу, но когда я очередной раз заблудился на карте где-то в середине 4ого из 5 биомов, я плюнул и удалил игру. Прокачка оружия меняет само оружие и его область применения, но это не всегда плюс. Итог: не могу понять откуда столько положительных отзывов, все очень плохо. Можете сказать, что "это же бумер шутер! Все как в старом добром вольфенштайне/дум!", но нет, это просто не самый приятный кусок инди-дева. Не тратьте время

Firstly, it's a cool looking pixel art boomer shooter. You got your different weapons and tons of enemies. There are 5 chapters in the game and each chapter takes you into a different era (Medieval, Egypt etc.) The level design however, is pretty much what you expect from a retro shooter. It's linear, you have the find all three colored keys to unlock gates. But the cool thing about the game is that you can upgade your weapons with using skill points. You can turn your shotgun into an automatic one or you can turn your laser gun into a rail gun. This adds replayability to the game. Besides, you have a few magic spells that you can buy with the same skills points. You can freeze enemies, cast lightning etc. But buying spells also require the same skill points that is used for upgrading your weapons. I think it would be better if there were a seperate currency for the spells. There is also a leveling system where you can improve your health, ammo, magic etc. There are also some perks that you can use too.

I finished the game on hard difficulty and it was pretty easy in my opinion. There is also a hardcore mode where you have limited lives. Should you lose all of your lives, you start the game all over again. There is also a single life mode. But overall, I think it's an easy game.

The first three chapters were very easy. You just run and kill bad dudes. There was nothing challenging about them. The real chapters were the fourth and fifth ones for me where the game really tests your skills. But the levels are too short and can be disappointing sometimes.

All in all, Project Warlock is a great retro shooter which has Doom and Quake vibes in it.

Pros:
+Great weapons with an upgrade system
+Cool and useful spells
+Perks and leveling up
+Nice looking pixel art with beautiful lightning.

Cons:
-Very short and easy early levels.
-Spells make the game too easy.
-You don't really need many of the upgrades.

Ожидал веселый простенький бумер шутер, получил забагованный скучный однотипный кусок инди-поделия. Графика симпатичная, но в демо работал ретро-оверлей, что очень привлекло, в полной версии оно забаговано.
Есть странная, будто зря прикрученная система прокачки.
Уровни неинтересные, меняется только тематика "эпизодов".
Плюсик можно поставить за отсылки к другим старым шутером, но оно того не стоит.

Lots of retro FPS fun. Tons of secrets and homages. I especially loved seeing levels with parts modeled after beloved classics. The one I noticed most immediately was modeled after parts of the Slipgate Complex (e1m1) from Quake.

It's well made, has plenty of levels. And while you can burn through them as fast as you like, if you hunt for secrets it'll take a little time to find everything.

There were a couple bugs that required me to restart levels. (E4M7 was the most egregious offender with the ending walkway being prone to dropping you through the floor.) Other than that level though, I had some minor display bugs once or twice, like when checking how many secrets I'd found it'd say 11/4 instead of the actual number out of 4. All super minor other than the falling through the floor issue I ran into.

Great fun though. I couldn't put it down and I'd happily recommend it to anyone fond of classic FPS games.

Tuto hru jsem si fakt užila. Je svižná a tím je zábavná. Přepínání zbraní je intuitivní a rychlé, levelování postavy a kupování kouzel a upgradů taky parádní. Hudbu miluji, art styl taky. Jediné mínusy co pro mě hra má jsou občasné bugy ale nic hrozného a moc bloudění a to že jsem často bloudila a nevěděla kudy kam. Určitě si jí budu chtít zahrát znova.

-текстуры такие, что в некоторых локациях двери сливаются со стенами
-секреты максимально скучны и убоги - простое прокликивание пробела по всем стенам
-частые падения под текстуры и дальнейший перезапуск уровня
-боссфайты абсолютно неинтересны: спамь самым мощным оружием прямо в лицо боссу и победишь. Проходятся за 1 минуту
-ключи/кнопки/выход иногда спавнятся в секретных комнатах, что наталкивает на мысль что это криво сделанная процедурная генерация
-враги неинтересны и в целом однообразны между мирами: милишник, стрелок, какой-нибудь червяк/ползун, громила и тд
-спеллы бесполезны и ненужны
-прокачка почти бесмысленна: все качай в хп и патроны, перки "получаешь на 2 патрона больше" - смешно
-скучно и душно, доигрывал уже через силу

+прокачка оружия меняет само оружие и его применимость

Итог: Не могу понять откуда столько положительных отзывов - все очень плохо. Можете сказать, что "это же бумер шутер!1111 Все как в старом добром вольфенштайне тридэ!!11", но нет, ребята, это просто забагованный кусок инди-дева. Не тратьте время

Cute little indie FPS that wears its DOOM influence on its sleeve. There's upgrades which are all cool and overpowered in their own way, and spells which seem pretty useless to me. There's level ups and perks too, but you'll probably just dump everything into life after you get the one or two perks you actually like. Feels great, sounds great, little bit of jank, but that's to be expected. Fun for a few hours - a real no brainer if it's on sale.

La propuesta no busca reinterpretar el género ni modernizarlo de forma agresiva, sino capturar su esencia y trasladarla a un contexto actual con ligeros sistemas de progresión que complementan la experiencia sin alterar su núcleo.

La jugabilidad es directa, rápida y basada en el movimiento constante. El combate se articula alrededor de un arsenal extremadamente amplio que combina armas de fuego, armamento pesado, opciones cuerpo a cuerpo y hechizos mágicos. La sensación general es la de un shooter clásico en estado puro: avanzar por escenarios cerrados, limpiar salas llenas de enemigos, gestionar munición y salud, y mantener siempre una posición ofensiva. El juego no penaliza la agresividad, sino que la incentiva, obligando a moverse, disparar y priorizar objetivos de forma continua.

Uno de los elementos diferenciales es la progresión del personaje. Um boomer shooter padrãozinho, tem uma gameplay rápida e direta, uma trilha sonora empolgante, muitas armas, muitos inimigos. Gostei do esquema de alterar as armas e upar o personagem, uma pena que o sistema de magias do Warlock ser muito limitado e meio sem graça. O jogo é bem básico e direto, não chega a ser ruim em nada, mas também também não se destaca, é uma boa opção pra quem é viciado no estilo, é competente no que se propõem.

O jogo é muito divertido e tem um arsenal gigantesco de armas alem de suas variações. ele cumpre muito bem o que promete: um fps retro no estilo de doom. Eu me diverti muito e ate platinei ele. As referências a outros jogos são bacanas os inimigos são bem variados

nem tudo é um mar de rosas. O game tem bugs as vezes como inimigos atravessando paredes, dizendo ter encontrado 9 segredos onde só tinha dois e o pior de todos: as vezes, procurando segredos, eu caí no limbo, me deixando cair infinitamente. o unico jeito era reiniciando a fase.
outro ponto é a história. como disse, a gameplay é boa, frenética, divertida e nostálgica, porem a história é rasa. MUITO rasa. Para mim isto não foi um incomodo, mas ela praticamente funciona como uma desculpa pro jogo existir e fluir, pois não espere origem, plot twists mirabolantes, outros personagens para interagir...

em resumo: se você gosta de fps frenético retro com referencias, segredos, gore e variedade de armas, compre e certamente irá se divertir, mas se você busca história marcante, gráficos fantásticos, gameplay mais lenta e semelhantes, talvez seja melhor procurar outro game, parceiro.

Cons :
-Missiles sometimes go through walls, but nothing too bad.
-I've had a few performance issues near the end of the game. It didn't prevent normal play but it was annoying.

Pros :
-Levels aren't too much of a labyrinth. The game makes you run around but it makes sure you can find your way around.
-Lots of weapons with variety and upgrades that change gameplay.
-A small set of spells to support gameplay.
-Character stats to level up to tailor up gameplay or difficulty.
-Controls are smooth
-No reloads. Gameplay is about unleashing hell on hell itself. Shooting fast, swapping weapons, moving alot, although areas can sometimes force you to slow down. There's a perk that allows you to walk through enemys if your style is about not stopping ever.

If you are into that kind of game it's an auto buy. For others who are curious, it's cheap enough to warrant a try anyway. Just go for it.

This game ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ blows, dont get me wrong, the Boomershooter puzzle types 1. FIND KEY X or 2. Find X amount of switches simply got a bit ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ old after the first endboss. AT THE LATEST: After the second. Every particular way, in which enemy nps distiguish each other throughout the course of the game, is reduced to their design and "World Characteristic" (i.e. such creative themes as "ice world" or "Sand world" gee, no im in egypt. Why? Tbf i dont really know. I was high through most of it but the bare, sheer repetitive level deisgn was repeating sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo often, lord knows what id think had i been sober in any way. Also i just want to say, make the axe swing a big quicker that rlly help.

Pretty good boomer shooter. It's like a straight upgrade to what DOOM could be - it sprinkles in weapon upgrades that really differentiates between the 3 options, a minor magic system, stats and some perks. Probably the coolest part though is the enemy variety. Each stage has them appropriate enemies that all behave a little different than their counterparts from other stages, despite being similar styles (ranged, melee, cannon fodder, etc).

Insta-kill lava pits being introduced at the very end stinks. Enemies and stages being mixed together at the end was a unique touch.

8/10, game has some interesting visual glitches that aren't too big of a problem but gameplay is fun. One run through of the campaign is less than 5-10 hours.

4 hours total playtime to complete the full campaign.
for a $12 game id say that's not too bad. i pay more to go to the movie theatre buying just the ticket no food drink and that is only 2 hours of entertainment.
the ideas present are very good but the execution was lack luster to me.
this game is heavily inspired by the great classic Doom and i think it does a good job adding its own spin on it and expanding upon some of the features.
high speed adrenaline shooting through hordes of demons just like doom but unique to this game was a more rpg element to it.
i enjoyed the leveling up to distribute stat point, get perks that greatly influence your playstyle and choosing if you invest upgrade points into your weapons or spells.

unlike doom however...
i felt this game lacked some MUCH needed polish.
of my 4 hour play through id wager at least 45 minutes of it was wasted by me having to restart levels because id either get soft locked in a section or outright fall through the map.
in both cases there is nothing you can do and must restart the level.
and in both cases it isn't even hard to do...
your speed is fairly high if you hit the sprint toggle so accidentally getting yourself into a bad position is often just a single button tap in the wrong direction
something as simple as pushing an elevator to go up but stepping off then boom there is no button to call it back down. The game expected you to ride it up and use a second different elevator back down elsewhere so they didnt put a second call down button.
there is no jumping so in some areas you can even get stuck from falling 5 inches down onto an area the game didnt intend.
those times of frustration far out weighed the fun as id often be forced to repeat those moments due to restarting taking away what made those encounters unique.

all in all id give this a 6/10

Чистий олдскульний шутер, який максимально надихається класикою на кшталт DOOM і Wolfenstein. Гра динамічна, доволі хардкорна, без зайвих поблажок, і чітко знає свою аудиторію.
Атмосфера працює відмінно: піксельний стиль, темний фентезійно-демонічний сетинг і чудова музика роблять свою справу. Стрілянина приємна, темп високий, усе тримається на адреналіні й рефлексах.
Як і в інших подібних проєктах, це не гра “для всіх”, але для фанатів ретро-шутерів — дуже гідна штука

At first glance, it looks like a love letter to classic 90s shooters like DOOM, Hexen, and Wolfenstein, but after spending time with it, it becomes clear that this game isn’t just borrowing nostalgia; it understands why those games worked.

From the very first launch, one thing immediately stood out: the menu soundtrack. Absolute banger. Heavy, aggressive, and perfectly setting the tone for the chaos ahead.

Project Warlock wastes no time throwing you into its dark, demon-infested world, armed with melee weapons as a starter, fast movement, and zero hand-holding. It respects the player and trusts them to survive through reflexes, positioning, and smart upgrades.

The story in Project Warlock is intentionally minimal, and that’s precisely how it should be. You play as a warlock fighting against waves of monsters, demons, and supernatural horrors across multiple dimensions and time periods.

There’s no excessive exposition, no cinematic interruptions. The plot exists to give context, not to slow you down.

You’re here to kill monsters, uncover dark secrets, and push forward through increasingly hostile environments, and the game never pretends to be anything else.

This is where Project Warlock shines.

The gameplay is fast, responsive, and brutally satisfying. Movement feels sharp, weapons pack a punch [b] (after upgrade) [/b], and enemies demand constant attention. Combat rewards aggression but punishes recklessness, striking a great balance between classic run-and-gun chaos and modern mechanical depth.

The upgrade system adds surprising depth, allowing players to improve weapons, magic, and stats in meaningful ways. This keeps the experience fresh across levels and encourages different playstyles rather than relying on a single dominant strategy.

Visually, the pixel-art aesthetic is well executed. Environments are readable, enemy silhouettes are clear, and visual effects never get in the way of gameplay. The soundtrack, especially during combat, keeps the adrenaline high and complements the pace perfectly.

That said, my playthrough wasn’t entirely flawless. I encountered a couple of instances where I clipped through the map, along with some minor texture artifacts. Nothing game-breaking, but noticeable. Also worth mentioning: the shotgun sound effect on the opening screen is absurdly loud, borderline ear-shattering (for the first time).

Bom jogo, porém repetitivo.

Project Warlock traz uma forte sensação de nostalgia para quem já conhece e jogou Doom, mas com uma proposta mais acelerada e frenética. Os gráficos pixelados são bem trabalhados e a jogabilidade é boa; contudo, muitas vezes o jogo se torna repetitivo e acaba enjoando. É o tipo de jogo que não consigo jogar por mais de uma hora seguida sem cansar: atinjo minha “cota” do dia e, no dia seguinte, jogo mais um pouco, dificuldade alta, o que nos faz lembrar mais ainda de Doom.

Apesar de fácil jogabilidade, gráfico e nostalgia, um bug me incomodou bastante. Ao abrir o jogo e selecionar a opção de continuar, a câmera fica virada para cima, girando em 360 graus sem parar. Não importa o que eu faça, sou obrigado a fechar e abrir o jogo novamente (às vezes mais de uma vez) para que o problema seja corrigido. Recomendo se estiver muito barato, fora isso não compensa.

This is a pretty fun old school FPS, but in episode 4 I started having clipping issues where I fell into the ocean on one level and under a bridge on the next one. I get the lives system is trying to bring some difficulty to it (even if I personally don't care for it), but losing lives to bugs feels cheap.

Also there are a couple levels toward the end with instant death pits, which pretty much never feels like a good idea in an FPS game.

I'd recommend this in general but just be aware that it doesn't feel totally polished.
