Game was cool from what I played, but the saving isn't working right and I lost my progress twice.
One of the best bullet hell games out there. Not oly does i feature a story mode, but also amazing community made levels. The level creator is quite easy to use (I myself learned to use it quite fast). Though some levels may sometimes be laggy due to the high amount of obejcts depending on your pc, but luckily there are mods to fix that.

The editor (which is most of the game's content right now) can be hard to learn at first but is super fun to use once you are familiar with it. There are a vast amount of player-made levels on the workshop, most of which are incredibly fun to play and very visually interesting to watch.
TL;DR, watch some tutorials on the editor before complaining its to hard to use.
I love this game, would sell my soul to the editor again.

Hi, project arrhythmia community. You may not know me. And I don't know any of you. But I would like to say thank you, to this game and it's creators. This game simply amazes me in every aspect and is part of the reason why I'm still here, alive and breathing. From the story mode to the custom levels and bosses, it's all just so beautiful! it amazes me how people can just create such things, it's beautiful that everyone has such creativity. I love it. I love this game so much. It introduced me to new music (which I still listen to every day, especially shirobon's 'imposter syndrome') and also new friends who have been there for me all the way.
So all I can say is thank you.
To the creator and to the community.
I hope someday I'll be brave enough to learn the level editor and make some of my own silly little characters and stories!

Has been in early access for a while, but I would say it feels pretty good to play. There is a short unfinished story with a small number of levels that took me around 30 minutes to beat in total (they are pretty good imo). The bulk of the game is going to be playing levels made by other players. Some of them are very creative and feel good to play, others are quite unpolished.
Overall a great game, I've been having a lot of fun lately with downloading new levels and playing them over and over.
Just shapes and beats with more colors (and also more levels) is good
if you wan to play this on steam deck. DON'T DOWNLOAD THIS GAME!!!! Everytime you manually save and then leave the game and return to the game your save is GONE!!! and you'll have to restart the game all over again
im sure it will work fine on my steam deck but a game thats been in dev for 6 years should not have a memory leak so bad my computer literally emergency aborts the program
Cool game
Incredibly fun to play. I'm highly anticipating the story mode, as the official levels that have come out are very well designed. I do wish there was a way to replay them without going through the entire tutorial again.
The editor seems to be quite powerful, creating some breathtaking custom levels, especially with the use of gradients (which I assume is a relatively recent addition). Old custom levels still hold up even after all these years. A better way to play new levels would be nice, as sorting to the tail end of the level selection screen is tedious, especially once my level library grows.
I hope PA can continue to be worked on. The game has a lot of potential and I'd love to see that potential fully realized. Even in Early Access, I'd recommend anyone give the game a try, with DXL44's "Imposter Syndrome" being my top recommendation for a first level. It's not too hard and the level's visuals are mesmerizing. New players (and players in general) should also check out mysteriousshep's levels too!!

This is peak. The user content is amazing and the (unfinished) story is fun. If you only want a game with a fun story mode just wait until the game fully comes out as just the story isnt worth 12$, but if you are willing to get stuff from the workshop BUY IT NOW the stuff people create is fun and (normaly) high quality!

Awesome! I just have no words to describe how this game is so good. Performance needs improvement, but game is still really enjoyable, specially the level editor.
Had this game on my radar for a few years now and finally remembered to get off my ass and pick it up. I think this game is really cool and has a LOT of potential, so I wanted to write this review to give some positive and negative (constructive!) feedback on what I see. Please note I don't really do reviews so I have no idea how I should be doing this.
Firstly, I want to disclose I came into this game with the "no way it's JSaB with a level editor" mentality, so I think that constitutes as some bias you should keep in mind.
POSITIVES:
- I genuinely LOVE the flavor/aesthetic of this game. 10/10 I am a huge sucker for trippy computer stuff no notes. awesome. and flashy i like flashy. I love this a lot.
- Controls feel straightforward and pretty responsive, which makes the game feel pretty easy to learn and improve at.
- Soundtrack is solid so far, I think it fits the vibe of the game a lot but is still diverse/unique enough where it still feels rhythm game ish (if that makes any sense).
- I'm very intimidated by the level editor but it seems pretty powerful so I'll trust what I see there :>
- Story seems promising so far, but I might be biased with the aesthetic (though I suppose the presentation is a part of the storytelling, so is that really an external factor here?)
- Sphere is my favorite official level, it really shows off the full potential of the game's official levels and it makes me really excited to see more. I also like how it sorta resembles a virus or something considering the lore being about training simulations to cure diseases.
NEGATIVES: (PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE don't take this as hate or slander or anything else, nor as me acting as if I'm some objective paragon of game design. I'm not a professional, I enjoy this game, and I aim to be constructive and provide my raw feedback in hopes some of it is useful):
- I'd like to see some more visual feedback for the dash, especially because of the variable distance. It's a little difficult sometimes to tell where my iframes are, especially in chaotic or zoomed out maps. I would love to see a setting or something for some sort of "high contrast dash" or something.
- I wish the first four story levels were easier to replay on demand without having to replay the whole intro (or if there is an easy way, I wish it was communicated a little clearer).
- The save files/slots/states feel a little confusing at a glance. I think that's user error on my part, but a little less clutter or a little tutorial in the menu would go a long way.
- Accessing custom levels is an absolute pain and ruins my motivation to try new ones. I did see on the Discord server that this is already fixed in the Alpha, so I don't think this needs any more elaboration :)
- The EASINGS... I see the value of the easings on a lot of attacks and movements and such as a style choice and I do quite like it, but I do think that there is a bit too much in some parts. I think the easings are good generally, but sometimes it messes with the sync in my head. I would love to see more "punchy" easings/animations thrown into the mix, but I also understand if it's a style choice.
- I would really like an option to restart a level from the last checkpoint instead of the very beginning for practice! I find myself missing this type of option a TON and I think it would be a very helpful QoL feature.
Overall I really really like this game and I hope my feedback helps in some way (or at least I hope it doesn't sound like an entitled JSaB player rambling), I look forward to the day the full game launches!

This is honestly a REALLLY COOL game. The controls, concept and artstyle are all very simple, and the gameplay is packed with like, over 2 BILLION milograms of caffeine! It's also surprisingly addictive, but at the same time not too-too addictive. It works really REALLY freaking well and looks awesome and it's fun and I JUST- *RAHHHHH!!!* I LOVE THIS GAME! if you've seen this review and still decide not to buy this game, you have the smallest brain and poorest taste in games EVER to exist. JUST ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BUY IT ALREADY!!!!!

If you love bullet music hell games, then this is the game for you.
This game is a fan game of jsab with pretty much all community made levels. I will say that it feels less polished than jsab, but in terms of the levels, I find pa more fun to play.

Ok. I have a very odd history with this game.
Big fan of Just Shapes and Beats, so I got this one hoping for a similar experience, and it delivered pretty well. The workshop was fun and it was all presented in a very cool way. But I eventually fell out of interest due to a kinda toxic community and me simply wanting to play other stuff. Skip forward several years, and due to several factors, I decide to try the game again, and it has completely changed. All the cool operating system aesthetics have been heavily dialed back and a story that doesn't really have as much potential as in earlier development. Granted, this opinion is based on a still unfinished version of the story mode, but man it just really doesn't feel like what was originally promised.
I have said that I don't recommend the game with this review, but I implore you to come to your own conclusions for the game. This simply isn't for me anymore.
