Storyline

1,000 years have passed since the events depicted in Phantasy Star Online 2. A new generation of ARKS settled on Planet Halpha. For decades, ARKS has been dealing with a new threat known as the DOLLS, creatures whose origin and purpose is unknown. Joining ARKS are also Meteorn, individuals arriving from outer space through pods. Meteorn possess no memory of their life prior to arriving but regardless possess skills that make them effective against the DOLLS and join sides with ARKS to fight against the DOLLS.

I played base JP long ago which was my first introduction to the series. My friend who was big into it got me to try it out and instantly fell in love with it since it felt like a unique mmo that other games in the market couldn't replicate. It was truly in my mind the best MMO out there.

Fast forward to years ago when pso2 was coming to global again and it sparked my interest into playing again. It still felt like the game I fell in love with. Rebuilding my character felt like a chore sure but getting there with friends was the best part. I don't have much to say about the story since I power leveled my way to cap so I could do UQs with friends. I valued the combat way more than anything else and the fights + the music accompanying them always made it a blast.

Though as much as I'd like to talk about base, it's now a former shell as it once was thanks to NGS

Back when hype was generating about the game, I was also hooked. Around that time I was getting an upgrade to my PC so I could run it with no issues which got me excited. Once launch came around and trying it out, my fears were building. It felt... hollow. Not a lot of things to do, classes feeling same-y and the story which I was paying attention to at the same didn't make me feel invested.

Story: Like any mmo story, the beginning is a drag. I liked the idea of dolls being this force that everyone was struggling with, especially that big cutscene fight in the beginning. Things kinda went nowhere after that when it boiled down to checking each area for doll activity and hoping the story is leading somewhere (it wasn't until Stia that the story actually picked up for me, mostly due to glen's JP VA being Kenjiro Tsuda and his character being interesting). The high point was definitely the dark falz aegis fight. The music, the fight and its mechanics, and the conclusion cutscene with the theme song playing was the cherry on top. It felt like they were borrowing the good things from PSO2 and got excited for what was to come. Needless to say, I stopped caring about the story again until we got to the resurgent arks segment + zephetto which did bring in some interesting lore about the region and our character. Fast forward to now after fighting vael (which was an okay fight but it has great music), we're approaching a big story update this April and it seems interesting from the little that's been shown. I can only hope it goes up from here story wise.

Combat: It's not as in depth as base pso2's but I don't have big qualms about it. As mentioned earlier, classes feel same-y with how everyone has a parry and step parry attack now which kinda makes things a bit easier in the grand scheme of things. After hopping on base pso2 again to play some luster, the difference is staggering when it comes to how fights are. I don't know how the future will be for combat but like story, I can only hope they improve upon it to make it a bit more engaging.

Why I still play it: I'm one of those people injecting hope into my veins because I can see the good in this game. It's just overshadowed a lot by sega's microtransations which makes it more of a dress up game if anything. Don't get me wrong, the customization is one of the best I've ever messed with and you can make some pretty unique stuff with your imagination being the limit. It just stinks that outfits are being prioritized for content with monthly quests feeling like the same stuff different coat. At this point I play for the story or whenever my friends want to hop on to mess around. I really, REALLY want this game to become better, even though it's been 6 years since.

I wish steam had a mixed recommendation option, but selecting no feels right in this case. I can only recommend this if you enjoy dressing up to your heart's content or if you wanna dive into the story and boss fights.

First saw this game when I was a kid and get so excited for the global release. Fast foward a good long 10 years and the game finally comes out. Its the greatest time I've ever had with a MMO-like game in my life. The gameplay was complex but simple. The customization was detailed and well crafted. Multiple classes each with their own styles that made the game fresh to play. A community that was weird but loving, meet with some of my greatest friends on here. The world was different from every other MMO out there, with a good story on top.

Then NGS was announced. An expansion and a way for the devs to "have pso3 without making a new game". Most were kinda mixed on it but optimistic. Then it releases. Saying it was bad would be an understatement. Servers we unstable, so you would be disconected within seconds of just logging in. Optimization for the new area was bad, it wasnt uncommon to hear peoples computers running hot and causing problems with their computers (like bricking it). The amount of content was also very low. The most you could do was fight Gigas with the whole entire server, which made people crash mid fight, so it became more RNG on if you would crash or get the actual item. The storm system was also bugged and randomised, so sometimes you would get upwards of 15 mins to fight the boss while other times maybe 2 mins. Which with the gear at the start was nearly impossible to do.

The community was rightfully mad. But instead of being heard, they were ignored or got struck in the purge. Oh right the purge. Becuase of some issues with cencorship the devs went into overdrive with banning people who they concidered risky. So much so they banned most of people who were just simply mixed on the situation with PSO at the time. There was even a youtuber that made a review that got bullyed into deleting his account from just how many death threats he was getting. This devided the community, one side who couldnt see or say the game was in a bad state. While the other side had alot of hatred towards it. Then the majority just in the middle not really on ither side.

I originaly tryed to stay playing the game durring all the chaos but I had too much going on IRL so i stopped playing for a while. Then got to start playing it two years after and the game was in a "better" state than before. They even added a new Creative Space, which was a function I loved. The game was alot more fun to play overall but changes were slow, very slow. 6 months would be the expected time before a major update came.

But the biggest change was the community. It felt off. There were a few good people but there were more viral and darker parts to it. It felt like walking on landmines where you never knew what group of people you would walk into and if you ever set one off, the explosion would be everywhere and everyone would know.

I wont go into too much detail on this one but I was a co-founder of one of the top alliances in the ship I am in. I had a blast with the alliance, but that didnt last long. The main leader got banned becuase of some strange situations, which lead the alliance to have a leadership problem. I was going to take the lead right after but a situation irl came up that didnt allow me to be the leader. I was helping alot in return, hosting partys for UQ, helping create CS's for events, Spending time with alliance members when i could, and leveling up newer players. Then the new leader said I wasnt doing enough and started treating me like I was mentaly disabled. Fast foward a year and they "ask" me to leave, so I did. Didnt even get to say goodbye to anyone before they just kicked me. So I dicided that im not going to involve myself with any guilds, alliances, or anything of that matter anymore. I'll still be with the friends i made but never in a guild ever again as a result.

I basicly quit the game afterwards. Years of work down the drain. I stopped playing most games in general too. I was fine making my way to the end of this games life span but people placed a wedge and pushed me out. The actual state of the game also continued to not improve fast enough or not improve at all. More problems kept growing and growing over the long periods of just nothing. Then if something did improve it was ither too late or to little.

I cant recommend this game to anyone anymore. Its more depressing knowing that this game could be great but its never going to improve. I love the world of PSO. I love the combat. I loved how the community used to be. And I still have found memory's of great times here but all of that is just gone now. I might play the game later on just to talk to people or take screenshots but I just cant bring myself to play the game itself. I miss everyone.

Played both the base version and the 'New' NGS version for probably an equal amount of time. Since Base PSO2 is empty and long-untouched, this review only applies to the game as it is now (PSO2 New Genesis).

Pros:
- Endless customizations, fashion, and cosplays.
- Flashy, interactive, and easy-to-get-into combat. Most classes are fun.
- Good music?

Cons:
- Dead Open-World, explore once & forget after like everybody else does
- Most Enemies are recolored versions of each other (even the some of the bosses, no joke)
- Lack of Life-Skills or Talents or Leisure
- Grinding is just going to the same areas youve trained at but with the enemies scaled-up every 20 LVLs
- Common Gacha
- 'Seasonal Events' just give you a separate currency to earn while doing your grind (see Cons: fourth point) to redeem for things that would normally require you to spend money off-season

If youre into MMOs this should (at best) be your secondary or tertiary rotational game. i think this game is friendly for casual gamers and people who are new to MMOs though

I won't include anything about the original (base) version of PSO2 except for this: it was a real fun adventure for the ONE year I got to play it before they abandoned it totally. So if you want to try that version out now, be warned itll be a lonely adventure.

Что тут заставляет твой внутренний «отаку» ликовать (или плакать):

Боевка на стероидах: Это, пожалуй, самый динамичный экшен, который можно найти в MMO. Ты не просто стоишь и прожимаешь ротацию, как в скучных олдскульных играх. Ты летаешь, парируешь, делаешь рывки в воздухе и заливаешь экран спецэффектами так сильно, что видеокарта начинает просить о пощаде. После неспешного Zomboid тут кажется, что тебе вкололи чистый адреналин прямо в мозг.

Открытый мир (который всё еще «в поиске себя»): Мир красивый, спору нет. Бегать по нему — одно удовольствие благодаря «фотонному рывку». Ты несешься по полям как Наруто на максималках, прыгаешь по скалам и собираешь... ну конечно, ресурсы. Много ресурсов. В 2026 году нам наконец-то завезли «Неоновый город» (Nameless City), где хотя бы есть на что посмотреть, кроме травы и камней. Но давай честно: мир всё равно ощущается как очень красивая, но пустая декорация для твоих новых шмоток.

M.A.R.S. и EX-стили: Valve добавили бы это как платный скин, а SEGA дала нам возможность вызывать огромного меха-робота прямо посреди боя. Это как если бы в Ready or Not тебе разрешили вызвать танк в коридор отеля. Выглядит пафосно, бьет больно, а с новыми EX-стилями ты вообще превращаешься в ходячую дискотеку смерти.

Экономика и «Фэшн-из-май-профешн»: Настоящий эндгейм в NGS — это мода. Ты будешь фармить валюту (месету) миллионами только ради того, чтобы купить новую прическу или эмоцию на аукционе. Цены там такие, что волосы встают дыбом даже у тех, у кого нет аватара. Это симулятор ожидания новых Scratch-билетов, где главным развлечением становится стояние в лобби и оценка чужих костюмов.

Итог: Это безумно красивая игра, которой до сих пор не хватает контента, не связанного с переодеванием. Ты заходишь сюда, чтобы эффектно помахать мечом и сделать пару сотен скриншотов своего идеального персонажа, а потом выходишь, потому что сюжет опять закончился на самом интересном (или самом скучном) месте.

Это симулятор «Я пришел сюда ради экшена, а остался ради кастомизации». 10 неоновых вывесок из 10.

Вердикт: Если ты любишь аниме, быстрые бои и хочешь создать персонажа, который выглядит лучше всех в этой галактике — тебе сюда. Но готовься к тому, что твой игровой кошелек будет вечно пустым, а смысл жизни сведется к поиску идеального аксессуара для ушей.

the reason the download is so big is they are hiding one of the best game's corpses inside. PSO2 was soo clean and the best boss battler to exist for years and years. now this flat, quarter built, money hungry game is replacing it.

This game should have been a slam dunk. All Sega had to do was port PSO2 as it was and not muck with anything. Nope couldn't do that. Instead they used it as a springboard to launch whatever the heck this bizarre "sequel" is supposed to be and then promptly yanked support for the base game and all it's content. Not just for the US but for Japan as well. They killed a perfectly good game to help prop up another one that basically launched on life support, and far as I can tell it's STILL on life support even now. You had one job Sega, nice job breaking it hero. Give us back PSO2!

Most of my time on this title is on Xbox, so my playtime is about 700 hours in reality.

This game should have never shifted into New Genesis. The only thing better is that it looks like a modern title. Other than that, its is a far more shallow, less realized game than the one it BURIED to get released.

PSO2 before New Genesis was my favorite MMO and was fantastic with a dedicated community, fun collabs, fast paced gameplay with instanced levels packed with enemies to fight.

Now you have a largely empty world with all time low player counts. It has gotten a bit better with time but the new game also launched with virtually zero content immediately driving away all players.

Simply a shame that such a wonderful MMO with the base version got completely buried to release a half baked shinier new version.

I loved the previous game and this one isn't too bad. The main issue is how they're monetizing the game. Unbelievably limited storage space and other very obnoxious limiting factors put in place to make the game a chore to play after a while so you spend more money. Extremely disappointing because I'd love to sink more time into this. If it were a standard monthly/yearly sub I'd be okay with it, but they split it all out into separate pieces to make it harder to realize how much more it all costs compared to a normal subscription. Most of my playtime was on the Xbox rather than Steam.

"When they released that huge update, I was so hyped, but the moment I entered New Genesis (NGS), I was so disappointed that I uninstalled the game and never played it again. Sometimes I look back at the game and think we didn’t even need NGS—I really liked the 'old ship' [base PSO2].

In my opinion, they shouldn't have combined two titles into one game; it feels so weird. All my grinding was for nothing just to start from level 1 again? Why? I believe that if NGS had been published as a separate game, almost no one would have played it—though I might be wrong. This is just my opinion, and I hope no one is offended."

Base PSO2 is great. It's still on life support but fun to revisit. NGS is not PSO2. NGS feels more like cutting through trash mobs like a Dynasty Warriors hack and slash. It's fine, but it's not PSO. Both have their place. A nice break when you get tired of hunting in PSO1

Long time fan of PSO and SEGA.
PRO's
- Chain/Spam attacks for combos
- 10 classes to choose from, each with at least 2-3 weapon choices and skill trees
- Open World
- Cosplays
- Home/Base building

CON's
- I like Target lock in certain games that could heavily use it, however it isn't for everyone. NG's does fine with target lock, but I think the camera angel can be a bit off at times during boss fights and that may throw some people off. Target lock isn't necessary for everything or anything, you can play with out it. You may feel its necessary for certain end game content. (especially if you take the game a bit more "seriously")
- Every Avatar has access to all classes and can change to any class at anytime. You level up each class individually and can also choose a sub-class as well. However, end game grind feels like they want you to stick to one class/sub-class.

~End game bosses are dmg sponges (Noobies will take 15-30 minutes for a single boss run in Urgent Quest with/without a 'CARRY')
NOT ALL END GAME CONTENT TAKES THIS LONG!
- Wile NG's is Open World, 95-99% of it is made for the new players to explore and enjoy. Once you get into End Game content, you're time will be spent in End Game lobbies waiting to party with randoms/friends/Alliance members(guilds) to do that content.
- Wile SEGA does have plenty of free content and goodies to hand out and/or earn in game, they do have a cash shop for the things that may be more appealing to people who are into cosplay or simply styling your Avatar for end game.
!!!!!THIS ITSELF IS NOT A BAD THING!!!!!
However, what does feel bad is that what you may be looking to obtain is also an RNG drop (something similar to loot boxes). They also put incentives behind how much you pull with exclusive items at 5/10/15-etc. However many pulls you decide do buy and usually the best of the incentives is earned at a costly price.
- Home/Base building can be fun for those who enjoy this type of gameplay, however keep in mind that building parts and accessories can also be a part of the "loot box" pulls.
- Many Cosplay/Styles and Accessories can be bought in the [in game personal shops] from other players looking to make [in game Cash/Meseta]. However, you may find yourself grinding in game content for a long while before you can afford what your looking for and I wouldn't expect to buy it from the player selling it for the cheapest price unless you have the Money in hand at the time you're seeing it. Also keep in mind that if your grinding for [in game Cash/Meseta], your missing time on end game content, They very rarely co-exist together.

Thousands of hours sneaking into the JP servers with a VPN and a ghetto web translation hook, memorizing enough Japanese phrases to not get caught as a filthy English speaker and catch a ban, just to play one more hour on my favorite series ever.

It's dead. They killed it. The franchise is done. It deserves to die and they deserve bankruptcy for being so absolutely disgustingly greedy and lazy. I'm glad it's gone and I pity anyone that holds out any hope. Sega are giving EA and Ubisoft a run for their money as worst publisher/developers ever.

yea no other studio will ever touch the aesthetic of phantasy star or the absolute peak design and vibes sega will conjure out of their ssa when they really want to. bc of that, pso2 og was easliy top 5 games oat for me, very social mmo, streamlined story and progression (mostly), fun and fast paced action combat with endless coop quests and events, etc. extremely satisfying grind full of dopamine hits and loot hoarding, and to top it all off.. endgame fashion. one of the most insane character customization systems to date and with a player market and gacha. its 100% worth playing through pso2 og (FIRST!!!!), ngs seems like more of an afterparty for pso2 uncs atp, but its still fun if you like having multiple characters to develop and style. overall, i would def recommend but not for everyone, especially 100% f2p players.

開2K畫面有點糊，不過主要是視角問題。鎖定視角極度難受不方便，可是若不鎖定怪物，你只會向角色面朝的方向攻擊，你不能像其他遊戲一樣直接攻擊你瞄準的方向。你要有心理準備打怪時需要頻繁地調整角色的朝向+轉動視角，並且不停重複地鎖定解鎖鎖定去攻擊，非常不適合這年代的遊戲操作，手按得酸、眼睛看得酸。以前很喜歡玩舊版PSO2，過了那麼多年本想懷念一下情懷，卻發現原來我已玩不下去舊式的操作。

遊戲又沒有中文，網上有中文化但遊戲需轉日文並且翻譯不全。代表著看英文不一定能看得懂，用中文化後會比較順眼了，但有些沒翻譯會直接顯示日文，更加看不懂，難受。如果你是玩情懷的可以試看看，習慣現代操作/英文不好的玩家不建議入坑。

p.s. 對成就黨也不友好，45個成就裡PSO2NGS只佔其中9個，其餘全都是舊版的成就，所以你必須新舊版都玩一遍才能達成更多成就

After about 6k hrs I can finally say I'm done here...its been too long. I've watched this game slowly die over the course of the last three years. I logged on today to an amazing 834 players. Sega has literally sunk this franchise so low I doubt anything can bring it back at this point.
The current state of NGS is a cesspit of VR chat refugees but I wont go into that. Base Pso2 is a ghost town with a few lingering copium huffing delusionists. All the while you are stuck waiting for "new" recycled content from the year before and so on sprinkled with gatcha banners for lewd clothing and base game regurgitations called PSO2 'memories'. If you want to waste money on cosmetics and stand around in a lobby waiting for the next moving goal post with other like minded individuals this is the place for you. #LGBTQ+ #Furries #Fem-bois #Futa #Pdf-files

So uh, how long until PSO2 Classic gets its own separate launcher? Because forcing us to install 103+ gigs of space just to have access to it isn’t worth playing at all…

More power to the NG players, don’t get me wrong, but I’m just here to play the original PSO2. I shouldn’t have to sacrifice a massive chunk of space in my PC just to use one half of the game.

Until a separate launcher is made, the review remains negative.

Never did I think that I'd see Phantasy Star Online 2 become CosmicBreak but so much worse.

The OG apparently still exists, at least as far as I'm aware, but as opposed to being able to put that simple 20GB game on my humble potato using AMD 700 hardware, you gotta make room for the malware sitting at 100+GB that is NGS. The aforementioned worse CosmicBreak.

At least there was direction in the original, you could find individual skills for weapons and slap them into the slots that work for them, there was actual skill expression *and* a reason to continue to visit the linearly designed places that you *could* just rush to the end to hit the boss up or stick around and do the emergencies that turn up while exploring for stuff. Again. In a linear setting. With just basic dash spams till you eventually build to the gliding/attack spam of some of the specialist classes (Hero/Luster/Etoile/Shadow).

NGS, you can run fast, wall jump, vault, glide, etc. and I still feel like the OG was better. Probably because for as big as the open world is, it's actually less rewarding to interact with. You know where you get skills/skillpoints from? Oh boy you won't believe thi--

LINEAR INSTANCES!! Except they're literal vacuums with the same visuals, textures and literally meant to just be one and dones that repeat.

Bosses are nice. Great. Guess what, you can fight bosses in the linear instances of the OG through emergencies that spawn them. So fighting them things in NGS don't feel any different other than maybe some of them having platform mechanics. Oh hang on. Certain bosses in OG had the same s--

This is never gunna happen at this point, but OG needs to exist separate from the bloat that is NGS. It does not need to exist and has 0 reason to. Unless we're talking about whatever the community nonsense has been over the past iunno how many years.

I'd recommend somethin else. But GW2 is in a weird place with its moderation so. |: I got nothin.

It's a shame we had to wait for so many years to get the game playable in English, only to have it turn into this New Genesis thing. I loved the original PSO back in the day, as well as the base PSO2, but stopped playing shortly after we got that update. Couldn't they have just focused on adding more stuff to the base game, and have New Genesis be a separate title? At least I had a lot of fun playing it before NG, which is how the game should have remained.

New Genesis is terrible, especially compared to base PSO2. You don't need me to go into detail when you can look at all the other reviews. Even in PSO2's final days, it was still insanely fun. Really wish a game will take the reigns and continue PSO2's legacy. New Genesis isn't going to do it that's for sure.

To this day I don't understand how you can take one of the most fun MMOs out there and turn it into the most generically boring open world game I've ever seen.
Please just shutdown this game already so we can enjoy PSO2 on a private server. Sega clearly doesn't care about this game (or series) for a while now.

The whole game is rendered completely unplayable due to frame drops and lag issues. I have never had any issues playing any other games including big AAA games but this game has given me a huge headache. I have lowered the graphics to the lowest settings, make sure it runs on good graphics card, limiting frame rate to 30 fps and none of that has helped. It constantly lags and drops frames that you cannot do any combat. I have played for almost 4 hours and still couldn't leave the starting area due to this issue. Even the cut scenes are a laggy mess. Definitely do not recommend.

I'll be back gaming once I take ibuprofen cus this game gave me a right headache.

Hard to recommend this game even all these years in it's current state. I been playing it almost every day since it began but then not that I find it fun.. it was at first but it's become a little repetitive especially old content being recycled. Why do I play this? well the combat is where it excels however you need to max out your characters to get to god like state and then put in some effort to learn its armour and augmenting mechanics.. The free stuff you get is passable.

Plus I have a warm spot for the original Phantasy Star Online back in the Dreamcast days, and that's why I still play this mostly just to log in daily and complete daily chores... A few of us really do think this game is nearing it's end of service... you can see the player

Fun combat but it's real lacking where it needs it most.. content!!!!! You can see the player count has fallen drastically.. 50K players daily back in it's day versus the under 1k player count today..

Give it a try you'd like it but after a while it feels empty and same old stuff and the new content feels like we being breadcrumbed small bits here and the new exciting limited time events that pop up eventually run out of gas.. as you constantly fighting the same old waves of enemies and bosses with real low value loot.

This series really does deserve better.

I can build a huge skyscraper and solo the game's story. Getting to end game is quick, easy, and overall, pretty inexpensive, all things considered. THAT SAID, there are some changed that I would like to see, if Sega would like to listen:

LOWER YOUR ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PRICES ON EVERYTHING!!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, there is no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason to overmonetize a game that is already probably making money hand over fist! My biggest critique of this otherwise GREAT game with its own MASSIVE gooner community, is the price of everything, and how many things need to be bought just to have a more enjoyable experience. Sega, please lower your prices, and make less things require money. Please and thank you.

Game looks great, plays great, is plenty challenging, especially the endgame content and quests, which are all fun, from everything I have heard. I also love the sheer creativity of this community when it comes to their creative spaces, like OH MY GOD the freedom you are offered is INSANE! Just please lower the prices of everything and make things like color changing free for all users.

Quando era apenas o PSO2, esse jogo era perfeito em tudo, tinha um mundo riquíssimo apesar de não ser de mundo aberto e que não tirava a sua excelência, mas depois que lançou esse NGS, tá horrível, o mundo e os monstros parecem ser sempre o mesmo (robô que muda de cor), é tudo sempre a mesma coisa.
Das minhas 3k horas jogadas, acredito que não tenha nem 100 desse NGS horroroso.

This game is like being trapped in a dead end marriage. You keep hoping things will get better and the spark you felt for the game reignites, but it never will.

The good:
You can make pretty cool stuff in this game.

The bad:
This is not PSO2, if you enjoyed PSO2 you wont like this, this is NGS.
The story is a joke that's long since become unfunny.
Most of the community is psychotic.
The combat gets stale super quick.
"Content" gets replaced within 2 weeks.
Grinding in this game is mind numbing.
Every new road map drains you of all hope for this game.
The only reason this game isn't dead already is because of the new scratch tickets every week that whales dump a bunch of money on (again, most of the community is psychotic).

Overall rating: 10/10 - buy more AC, buy premium, W sega, W NGS devs, L every other game.

Take everything you hate about mobile gacha games and then slap them on a hack and slash. This is NGS. Nothing new or innovating. Just recycled game design systems modified for a 3rd person action game, with monetization at every turn. I put several thousand hours and even dollars into PSO2 before being sold the promises of NGS. Promises they failed to deliver at every chance. Literal years waiting for Halpha's story to conclude so we can move back into space. I come back once every few months to do 5 minutes of story content to catch up..

NGS started out as a good idea that fails to deliver in any aspect compared to a true PSO-related game. It's "open world" but 90% of content is within limited-time quests and urgent quests. The grinding feels unrewarded with meta weapons being nearly impossible to get to drop, and when they do they are only relevant for maybe 3-4 months. Some classes feel overly simplistic compared to the base game, such as Force. Bosses have no personality compared to base PSO2, feeling like just some non-descript Big Bad that you have to take down for some reason no one bothers to find out. The only thing it manages to improve on over PSO2 classic is fashion and convenience. If you are looking for a social setting to talk to people who might end up stalking you later, this is the game for you. If you want a half-ways decent fashion simulator that requires currency that is a pain in the butt to grind, this is the game for you. If you want engaging gameplay and a rewarding grinding and gearing system, consider looking elsewhere.

I logged into PSO2:Classic today, after the patch, and got a popup for a Beginner and Catch-up campaign! I got so hyped. Only to realize it's only for the inferior version NGS. Why even bother showing it to me when I don't even play that game? Did you forget that classic exists? There is literally nothing for your anniversary in classic. At this point, I just wish they shut down the servers for it and allow private servers.

This game is a shell of its former glory. The gameplay is good, but the monetarization is so horrendous. 50 inventory slots for a F2P player? While your gear/cosmetics/mandatory buff items still count? Just dumb. It's so sad to see how the game went downhill after global release. The hub was buzzing with players back in the PSO2 Tweaker days. Now there are like 4 people, and no one to play with.
