It is a very good story and i enjoy how it follows Inna from shelter 2 as a kit. This is worth every dollar.
A short, yet sweet experience. I love the art of these games, and the ways you may have to think outside the box occasionally. I utterly love lynxes, and seeing them get love and appreciation is always a plus.
Only gripe is that 100% this game isn't great. The kill X things is extremely tedious, and for the frogs specifically, I had to reload that spot several times. It breaks progression, and not in a way that feels natural. The initial price can be a bit high compared to the hours, so take that as you will.

Полностью в игры серии Shelter я не играл (а их аж целых 5), но если это изменится, то напишу свои мысли в дополнении к обзору!
shelter 2 also know as paws is a great storyline with adventure's unforgettable it can be heartwarming as it can be heartbreaking. I highly recommend this game to all you endling, spirit of the north, never alone, lost ember, stray lovers out there! it took me a bit of time to understand this game but when i figured it out i knew what to do and how to do it. It took me around four hours
A short, simple, sweet, bittersweet, and atmospheric tale without the harshness of the main Shelter 2 game. Recommend playing at least twice for the endings. Crashed a few times (usually when next to a wall with the bear), but not so much as to affect overall playability. I think trying to get all of the achievments would require someone *very* dedicated, unless following a guide closely, as navigating can be a bit difficult at times.

First of all, I would like to emphasize that Paws is not a bad game. But the rating system on Steam does not ask if the game is good or bad but rather if I would recommend it or not. Casually, I probably would recommend it, it's a cute little game. But I am a completionist so I am going to view it from that perspective. And as somebody who strives to complete all achievements in games I play I can not recommend Paws in good concience.
There are several issues I have with the 100% completion of this game. The first thing I noticed were the hunting achievements. You need to catch a certain number of different animals (or their eggs) and in my opinion those numbers are way too high. Let me give you an example: there is one level with swans. You need to eat their eggs from 50 nests. However, there are only around 10 nests in the level. So what you need to do is loot all nests in the level, then quit to the main menu, load your last save file, go through the level again eating the eggs and do this until you reach the target. That's not very fun achievement design in my opinion, especially considering each playthrough only has one save file that is overwritten at the beginning of each new level. So if you do a spoiler-free playthrough and don't know about the achievement you need to play the game from the beginning to reach this level again in order to complete this achievement. For the hunting achievements you need to execute (pun not intended) the same procedure as for the eggs and again, I think the numbers are way too high to be fun because hunting becomes very dull if you've done it a few times. But this is all fine compared to the puffballs achievement which requires you to pop 1000 of them. This just felt ridiculous because what I did to get the majority of the target number is sprinting in circles in a certain spot in a specific level where there are a lot of puffballs. I did this for at least 10 minutes and that didn't even got me all of the puffballs needed.
Another thing that's pretty annoying about the achievements in general is the fact that they don't pop during the game. You only see the notifications for the achievements you've earned after you exit the game. This required me to manually count the animals I caught for the hunting achievements to make sure I would only catch as many animals as I needed and not more.
One other achievement I had trouble with was the one where you need to get all memory fragments in one playthrough. With a guide it's not really hard to find all of the spots you need to interact with but there is one big issue and that's the level with the fox. There are two ways to "beat" this level: get past the fox unharmed which is required to get the fox memory or "die" from the fox and get rescued by the bear which warps you to the next level making it impossible to obtain the memory fragment. On my second playthrough I used a guide to help me find all memories, spirits and items. Sadly, I did die to the fox and the issue here is not the fact that I failed but rather the auto save feature. Since it overwrites your save file after dying you are unable to load the fox level to try again to obtain the fox memory. Which means I needed to do a third playthrough from the very start and since you need to obtain all memory fragements in one run I needed to obtain them all a second time. To prepare for another possible death to the fox I wanted to backup my save file. Usually, you just go into your AppData folder and make a copy of the respective game folder. But obviously it was not as easy in this case because the save data is stored in the Windows registry. I have used the registry before so it wasn't a big deal for me but for people who don't even know what the registry is, how to find it, how to backup something and how to restore it, that's actually not very amazing.
I would also like to mention that the controls and the camera felt a little clunky. Overall, I did enjoy my first playthrough even though I thought it was kinda depressing but I liked it. Completing all achievements however was a pain and I feel like in a short, linear game like this achievements should be designed differently to be fun. Sure, 100% can require a little grind, that's totally fine but I feel like in this game the achievements have not been playtested and feel kinda duct-taped on.

it's cute and I really like this artstyle, the stars, the trees and all, it fits so well. It's not a survival game like the main Shelter series, but an episodic story divided in various areas you can explore as much as you like before continuing with the story.
I wish there was an option to return to previously visited areas, just in case you missed an item. Because if you want all the achievements you'll probably have to play the game all over again.

Oh my goodness, I absolutely love this game. It's about a lynx cub named Inna who gets separated from her mom and siblings. It's a journey of trying to find her way back to them. Along the way she gets to meet a bear cub for the majority of the journey who ultimately ends up saving her life after a wolf attack. This cub guides Inna back to her family. Yes eventually, I'm gonna play it again.

Paws is a very short game with its fair share of glitches, but that doesn't mean it isn't a good game. It takes around an hour to play through the game once, and it took me 9 hours to 100% the achievements. I haven't encountered any game-breaking glitches. The glitches I have encountered were ones like awkward movements, floating prey, or terrain pieces vanishing depending on the camera angle. It was a very enjoyable game. I found it extremely cute and emotional. I cried during my first play-through and, despite knowing everything that happens, on my 5th l still found the ending gut-wrenching. The music was good, but it only plays for certain sections for limited periods of time. If you stick around and explore, most of the time you'll be without music. Just like Shelter 1 it is a story-line with some, but not much, variability. Like Shelter 2, there are collectables, but it is a manageable amount and much easier to find.

That's the vibe the entire game gives me actually, if I ever tried to put it into words.
The achievements are really buggy but you should be given them all at once upon exiting the game upon completion. Or at least that was the case for me. There are some other bugs that are, of course, your typical Shelter adjacent bugs.
I happen to be a guy who loves some silly lagging in games. For me it gives games a certain charm. I'm just weird like that tho.

I really enjoyed playing this game as a whole and collecting all the memories and collectibles, even though some were well hidden. I consider the fact that the game has two endings to be a good thing as the player is given the option to choose between their family or the bear friend. Only things i slightly disliked is the turning because i kept missing frogs and other prey because of it, and the fact that it doesn't have chapter selection after completing the game, which would make achievement hunting easier. Overall, the game got me emotional, especially when the cub was lost as well as when saying the final goodbye to either the cub's family or friend, I definitely recommend it to people who enjoy animal games like this
I got this game a few years ago, it's just such a touching and heartwarming game to play. I'd recommend this game to anyone who has played Shelter 2, I love how the lore pieces together with the two games. This game has such a unique play style, it's incredibly fun to adventure around as a little lynx cub.

i remember enjoying this game a lot when i was younger, and just recently decided to play it again. honestly my only complaints are that the controls are a bit wonky and it isnt always clear what to do in some instances. other than that, it's a great game and i highly recommend for animal lovers!

The game begins on a beautiful day in a serene and lush landscape with a lynx family playing in an ancient meadow. You learn to run, jump, catch butterflies, sneak and sniff your way around an exceedingly otherworldly land where the grass is green and the sky is blue. However, tragedy strikes and an unforseen even seperates out protagonist from her family, and it is up to us to find our way back to our family through vast and treacherous landscapes filled with challenges..
Speaking of the environment, this game has a really weird kaleidoscopic style to its graphics, something that came to grow on me over time but that might be a deal breaker to some. If you find the attached screenshots in this review horrendous, you might have to look elsewhere..

The gameplay is more or less a serene and heartfelt walking simulator in which you roam the lands looking for clues to the whereabouts of your family. The game is quite linear and railroaded so there is not a vast labyrinthine open world sandbox to explore, rather short sequences of perfectly curated scenery to explore and marvel over. One of the stages is a rather lovely stealth section that actually works great, and I never thought I'd want a full blown cat simulator, but now I feel like there is untapped potential here! On top of the search for your family, there are collectibles in the shape of items and memories scattered in the world that tell a story on their own. However, this treasure hunt is wholly optional and fills no other purpose than triggering your own curiosity.
Overall this is a game that should be enjoyed first and foremost for its emotional storytelling, and despite its odd appearance this is a masterclass in how to deliver on environmental storytelling. Each stage takes you closer and closer to a conclusion yet have twists and turns that shine a light on the very concept of family. Without spoiling anything, the game has 2 different conclusions, and I really would like there to be a third since both endings feel a bit strange after all the trials and tribulations. Maybe this is the point of the story, a message about the things we leave behind, but hot damn I would have loved to see a third more heart fulfilling ending. The endings we get felt illogical and more than a bit at odds with the premise of the game.

Despite my minor nag surrounding the ending, this is an excellent walking simulation that really evokes the feeling of being a small lost pup in a large and scary world. The gameplay is fun and really rewarding and the twists and turns along the way made it a lovely experience. Now this is a short game, and with a speedrunning mentality you could probably race through it in under an hour, but then you would miss all the nuances and beauty of this fine game. My first leisurely run took me around 3 hours, and that brought me most of the collectibles to boot. However I would argue that this is a game that truly earns its place as a fine example of why more protagonists have to be helpless pups in a huge and scary world. Enough of the gun toting AAA looter shooter, give me a game of a small lynx jumping on mushrooms any day in the week!

本作为《避难2》的外传作品，也可以说是小猞猁找妈妈历险记。剧情上简单却又不失温馨，讲述了小猞猁由于觅食时因河流急湍的意外而与母亲分离，遂踏上寻母之路。独自冒险的小猞猁一路经历了各种危险，但也通过和小熊的结识而收获了真挚的友情。游戏的画面一如既往的极富特色，BGM更是相当契合主题，而所表达的求生与抉择的主题也有很多可以深思的地方。

The story itself is really nice, the controls can be a bit clunky at times. And the achievements, at least for me, have been bugged for a long time. So if you want to JUST play the game for the story, go for it when it's on sale, but just be aware that you may not be able to 100% the achievements.

Yes, I played this before the playing the Shelter games, this is true. However, it wasn't a terrible game, it was sad and brought slight tears to my eyes. The story had nothing to do with my thumbs down review. My only issue with this game is the price. It was not worth $20. Maybe buy it on sale for $5? It's just way too short of a game for it to be worth the amount I payed.

I can say that the description of "Paws: A Shelter 2 game" is not that accurate, because the game is more a relaxing experience than an adventure platformer, and like it said, which deals with loss and friendship.
The main story focus on a cub lynx that gets separated from the mom and siblings, and is on its way to find its family. The journey is very short, but quite emotive, and involves also getting some food and having a friendly companion.
The atmosphere and soundtrack is really nice and calming, even though I've faced some bugs on the controls and on the background elements.
What actually broke me in "Paws" was the fact I didn't expect to make a choice in the end, and it hit me hard. It made me realize that what matters in life is not reaching our goals, but our journey. [spoiler]When I found my family in the game I was happy for a few moments, but as soon as I noticed that I would have to leave behind alone the cub bear, I just couldn't take it. The bear became a friend and companion during hard times, so it didn't seem right to be selfish and leave it alone because I have reached the end of my journey...[/spoiler]

Short but pleasant experience. I've been playing the shelter games ever since I was a kid. I finally picked up Paws today and tried it out! The art style and soundtrack is immaculate as all the shelter games are! The story is short but bittersweet, one that all shelter/animal fans should experience!

这个系列总是像绘本一样，画风独特，又刀的难受。这次还加大了挫折感——卡住了，不能跑了，黑屏了，假死了……让我感动的很蛋疼。

I just seen this in my library and I got so many memories, this game is truly heart touching and really explores how many types of sad and love you can feel in such a small amount of time.

This game rounds up what makes the Shelter series so enjoyable for me. Great music, lovable art style and sooo cute characters. You slip once again in a different perspective. From being a badger mother and being hunted in Shelter, to being the lynx mother Inna and hunting in Shelter 2, to being Inna again, but as a cub, in Paws!
*minor spoilers ahead*
It was nice to see the perspective of a cub that gets separated from the family, because you saw cubs getting separated from the family before as the lynx mother. But you didn't always know what happened to the lost cubs and now you at least know, it doesn't always have to end badly ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ
Also, swans are hecking terrifying.
Comprei errado achando que estava comprando Shelter 2. Mas não me arrependi. Apesar de curto, o jogo é lindo, muito artístico e gostoso de jogar.
I love this game. It has beautiful environments, and lovely art. The only bad thing I would have to say, is that the controls are a bit finicky and it's hard to turn... However If you are a fan of Might and Delight, beautiful art, amazing story-line, and heartbreak from said story-line. Then this is the game for you. Thank you for this wonderful piece of art Might and Delight.
This is very much a welcome return to formula for the Shelter series, and in my opinion, it’s what Shelter 2 should’ve been all along. It shares many of the same technical issues as the sequel, but in terms of gameplay design, it’s far closer to the original; a linear, narrative-driven story, somewhat akin to Milo & Otis. Survival mechanics are no longer present, and although there are still a few stealth segments spread throughout the story, failing them has no repercussions other than missing out on an achievement. As such, it is a much more laid-back experience than even that of the first game. As with Shelter 2, there are collectables, although this entry only has around thirty as opposed to the ludicrous five hundred of the mainline title. There are also a few grindy achievements, and a lack of chapter select makes them a little tedious to farm, but they’re overall manageable. The price, as with all of the Shelter games, is far steeper than it should be, but at least it’s cheaper than Shelter 2. Kinda made me want a co-op game from these devs. Not exactly an online type thing like Meadow, but more along the lines of It Takes Two or A Way Out.

There are some bugs here and there, and sometimes you get confused in terms of where to go, but overall — it's a nice lil' game with a touching story and soothing music.

A sweet, somewhat short game with a cozy and exciting atmosphere, and an incredible soundtrack that is raw and heartfelt. There are collectables and "memories" that you can gather, and multiple choices to make at the end, for some extra playtime. The puzzles in this game are simple enough to make it fun to play, but not too easy to the point it's boring. I highly recommend playing.
I love this game! I love practically everything about this game but one part. When Inna is trying to find the den, for me it was a bit too hard. That's my only complaint. Other than that, though, I absolutely love this game and I recommend this to people who don't get sad easily and are able to do puzzles pretty easily.

This is a beautiful game that allows you to play as Inna, the lynx from Shelter 2, and make friends with a bear cub. To be honest I wish there was a choice in the matter at the end, you understand if you've played, but I think the cub's mom died. Sad but fun, game play is simple if you understand boss music cues, basic W, A, S, D game play, and secret area hollows. Plenty of players have guides for all the achievements and are helpful, tutorial videos are everywhere, and I highly recommend the game. Also, I hate swans now.

as all shelter games it's a pretty (if you like the artstyle), vibey short game. the world to explore isn't large, the story is linear, and "loss and friendship as its central themes" is a bit pretentiously worded, although the story as always is quite emotional. perfect for a relaxed evening, although i personally prefer shelter 2
Compared to shelter 1, This team was a massive improvement! It was still relatively glitchy and I got the steam at a heavily discounted price. Overall, this game is fine but I probably won't be playing it again anytime soon.
While this is a very beautiful game and the story it tells is heartwarming and bittersweet, that's all that it is. In case you didn't know, Paws is a spin-off to the game, Shelter 2. It serves as a prequel of sorts through the eyes of the lynx cub Inna. Inna grows up to be the first lynx mother you can play in Shelter 2.
That being said, if you are looking for another Shelter 2 in this game or hoping for the experience of Shelter 2 through the eyes of a cub instead of the mother, then this is not the game for you. It is an exceptionally short 3D platformer through which you must travel.
There are barely any unique levels through which you traverse and the whole thing just feels more like a drudge through scripted events than an actual interactive puzzle platformer. While I loved this game when it first released, I was ultimately disappointed with how far it strayed from Shelter 2's innovation of the Shelter series thus far. No other game in the series (except perhaps Meadow but only barely) comes even close to capturing what Shelter 2 created for me and many others..
So, unless you're looking for a one and done, extremely short little story that is more scripted events than it is puzzles, this might be for you. If you're looking for Shelter 2 but as a cub, this game will let you down just like it did for me.
I love M&D as a game company. They gave me the Shelter series which to this day remains one of my favorites. However, I do wish they'd learn from Shelter 2 and make any future entries to the series more similar to it than Paws. Stay away from the scripted, confusing to navigate tunnel vision story and open things up to a beautiful world of possibilities and replayability.

Очень понравилась трогательная история, атмосфера, графика и музыка, хотя контраста иногда не хватало. Отдельно порадовало, что игра совершенно не затянута.
Не очень понравился перевод стихов между главами на русский (очень надеюсь, что в оригинале они лучше), медвежий интеллект и какое-то очень резкое и внезапное окончание игры.
Совсем не понравилось управление камерой и то, что часто непонятно, где можно пройти, а где нет (как правило, нигде нельзя).
Но в целом очень нежная трогательная игрушка.
