so far the best VR FPS ive played
This game is unbelievably fun. The guns are very crisp and excellent to work with. Each gun has its own particular way of reloading as well as learnable recoil pattern very similar to Counter Strike. In fact, this game is very much similar to CSGo/CS2 in VR and even has a large amount of CS maps ported over. This game has a VR Esport community around this idea, while the community is smaller now due to other games taking player counts over the years and lack of updates in the past. I think the real downfall of this game is the loss of years and years of previous passionate players mods when Pav switched to the new Unreal Engine. Still, theres so much to find and do, and this game is a thrill to try to get good at. It even has PS5 Crossover.
Admittedly the game looks among the BEST in VR with only HLA really being a better contender. But in regards to tight realistic and short TTK gritty VR gameplay, this is as good as it gets.
Lots of maps, lots of modes, so much to try and master.

I have a lot of time and history with this game, and will always love the community, the game, the developers, and even where the game is now.
But,
After the big UE5 Update, so much feels missing. Even though the modding tools are better than they were before, knowing how much was lost hurts a lot. Especially as some of my favorite VR experinces like FNAF2 VR, CODZombies Origins, Some RP Servers, are just - gone. For me, i felt like i experinced the Golden Years of Pavlov during Covid and beyond, and some of the best days in Esports for the game in the VRML (look em up!)
I think i will play this game even without major players counts, since im in a community who regularly plays anwyay, I at least have access to fun and balanced games. But as a player who may be new or as a player not interested in clan scenes - 'Pub' (public) servers/lobbies might be a bit of a challenge as lots of good players still hop in from time to time, absolute newbies to VR step in to VR all the time, and generally there are not as many lobbies as I remember. But still 4-8 good lobbies for TDM/DM/SND are open at a time, and I think its worth overcoming the begginer gap to become adept at. This game is worth playing at as eventually maybe the Clan or Community will draw you in, as you will most certainly meet us as you play. Lots of us old pavlov vets are around, some are what you expect, some are memy/toxic, but a lot of us are supporting, freindly, and ready to see you get better. Don't be shy to ask for help, eventually you will find someone willing to help if you need it (look through the community dashboard on steam to find some usernames)
Grab some beers, and have some fun! I Reccomend this game, even just to try It's still fun even with so much missing. Theres still a lot to do! If you mod. this is where you want to be.

I can only speak for the Push game mode and the community there but if you have any interest in the game you will have a good time. The group that's formed around Push is full of great people and talented modders who are always making something new or fixing issues. You can hop in the discord and know when the servers are full or starting, 40 player matches storming Normandy or fighting in the streets of Hue City, just lose yourself in some kinda goofy RP and have some fun.
Dead game full of insufferable 12 year olds. Steam workshop removed and it now has in game currency for some reason. Don't waste your time or your money, just find a better alternative.
Weapon interactions need updates. Its been years and the character still holds magazines like a person whos never operated a gun before. Better and smoother magazine insert animations + more new stuff because the updates come one every 2 years and they add a map and thats it. Other than thats its still a very good VR shooter with what it does

Multiplayer lobbies like TDM, Gun Game, TTT and more are great but using the mods section to get Kino Der Toten and mow down some Nazi Zombies cod style is even better for VR.
time to kill waay too high. doesn't matter who shoots first in a gunfight, if you have a pistol and they have a rifle, there is absolutely no chance of survival. refunded
Started off as fun, the mechanics are relatively smooth for an online VR game and the players I encountered were fun to play with. Unfortunately once I passed the 2 hour refund window, I encountered the EXTREME sweats, toxic bums and other "species" of the Pavlov player base. Wouldn't recommend because in it's current state as those are the more likely people you'll end up encountering with such a small player base now.

Pavlov VR feels like it lost what made it great, because the switch to a different engine and mod downloader basically wiped years of custom maps that everyone used to play and left the community with a few stock maps and a slow way to download whatever the new mods are. It's become a shell of it's old self - you jump in, see like 2 players online that's it.
This game is fun once you get it working. I got most of my hours on standalone quest 2.
I used to really enjoy Pavlov VR, but unfortunately right now the game is sorry state.
- Adding and joining friends in game is completely broken. Now you have to go through the hassle of making a lobby and hoping your friends will find it.
- Game performance has dropped significantly since release, quite unfortunate to because it used to be buttery smooth.
- Still to this day, has an atrocious method to opening the main menu while in game (at least for my Oculus Quest 3 via wireless PCVR)
- This is a personal gripe but why do I have to be holding the grip button all the time when I pick up a gun off the ground? Other VR games understand this is dumb and make it a toggle instead of a button hold. Like when you spawn with a gun it's fine but if you drop it and go to pick it up you are now stuck holding the grip button until you die again.
- Eye relief on scoped weapons is very annoying to deal with, maybe this can be improved with one of those gun contraptions you mount your controllers too, since it mostly comes down to positioning but other games make it more intuitive/forgiving.
- Worst of all, there is basically no one playing this game, I feel like it fell off due to a lack of routine quality updates.

Game is dead. It's now filled with whiny children, try hards and cheaters. Used to be fun when you could play with people your own age on cool maps. And Vankrupt has now gone the way of every slowly dying studio and has introduced the equivalent of V-Bucks into their game for skins. Not only is that a cheap and deplorable way of trying to keep a game alive, it also takes advantage of those who should not be in charge of their own finances in the first place. Such as again children and those who actually buy skins at all. If I could get a refund I would, it should be steam's policy that any game that's killed by its studio should be required to issue a refund to whoever bought it previous to the killing of said game. I paid for a good game and they have now slaughtered it with a blunt knife in front of me.... despite potentially being laughed at by steam support I am going to request a refund along with a copy of this review.
TLDR: Dont buy this dead, boring, vr fortnite knock off game filled with children. Unless you are a pedo in which case you'll probably see this review and jump for joy.

Ну чтож, провел я за несколько сессий в игре 8 часов и вот что могу сказать: игра хорошая по физике оружия и тел, карты нормальные, НО: в пике онлайн игры на доступных серверах 100 человек в сумме, к 7 из 10 серверов я не могу подключиться, игра просто зависает намертво минуты на 2-3 пока не выдаст дисконнект, это очень бесит и приходится либо терпеть либо альт+ф4. то есть если не повезет то будешь только минут 10 заходить просто на какой нибудь сервер, НЕ НА ТОТ КОТОРЫЙ ХОЧЕШЬ А НА ТОТ КОТОРЫЙ ПОЛУЧИТСЯ и да я захожу именно на сервера без пинга, интернет у меня мегабитный, так что дело явно не в моем оборудовании. Цена игре рублей 200 была бы я б не выпендривался, а так купил и чисто багую по 10 минут когда хочу пострелять. РЕКОМЕНДУЮ ПОТОМУ ЧТО НОРМАЛЬНЫХ АЛЬТЕРНАТИВ НЕ ЗНАЮ

Its really great fun
When Pavlov originally released it was essentially just Counterstrike but in VR, and it was the first major shooter to get a playerbase. It was the best and most polished shooter and it had the best modding potential. But, being the first also means that you are destined to be surpassed one day.
The VR community is a very small community and newer games came out and took what pavlov was already doing, improved it and implemented the lessons learned.
The VR community has simply moved on to newer and better shooting games.

best Vr shooter game i played in a while
I used to genuinely enjoy playing Pavlov, to the point that sometimes my headset would die while playing it. It's fun when you can mod it and the mods actually work like they're supposed to. If they don't work, no problem, just find another mod to play on.
I was completely unaware until recently that they updated the game to be compatible with PSVR players, which in turn took away all of my workshop mods. I thought to myself, cool, I can fix this by downgrading to an earlier version... Not even an option anymore. I am forced to run the current version of the game, which honestly pisses me off. I have looked on Mod.io for zombie maps that are actually worth a crap, and they're all 100% broken garbage that either crashes my game or they don't function properly.
The workshop maps that I had were fleshed out, worked flawlessly, and even had custom guns at times. The fact that I am forced to play with broken mods or play base game GENUINELY pisses me off. The game used to be fun, and if I wrote a review a few years earlier, I would 100% tell you to get this game. Not now. I will be uninstalling, and I no longer recommend Pavlov. Maybe in the future, if they bring back the option for Legacy I'll download again, until then. No, sorry.
For single-player, can't recommend. The Bots just walk in straight lines are have no strategic or combat abilities.
Game won't launch in vr, I have tried changing openXR profiles and redownloading the game and nearly everything mentioned online. I used to be able to play this game but, it seems to be broken for the time being can't recomend

This's once a good VR shooter, until they DOWNGRADED the game to UE5.
The performance is poor. The file size is super bloated (It's larger than the fxxxing Elden Ring!).
You devs should stop chasing the UE5 slop trend. We need frame rate and responsive control, not a stutter film to watch.
Stop using the broken engine only good at trailers.
This was a good game with a bunch of amazing zombies workshop maps, but they had to downgrade the PC version so it could crossplay with standalone VR headsets, breaking all the zombie maps.
Morons lol, maybe use that one steam functionality where you can choose to install a different version of your game so that people can keep enjoying the PC exclusive version with workshop support? Huge L

me when i have to take a product that was free for years and then suddenly put it on a price tag (also releasing with possibly the worst 'pre-order' bonus skins i have ever seen, like, genuinely abysmally awful. and, lol, lmao even, you are currently able to purchase all but one of the pre-order skins with in-game currency), which then slices the size of the community up by about 60%, and then proceed to do nothing update-wise with the money garnered from the relatively mediocre amount of people who decided to cash in to the greed- (with the updates that follow suit generally driving the product down even further into the graveyard)- this games not worth your money, purchase something else thats worthwhile from a developing team who cares more about you and your money than vankrupt.
and thats before we get into the gameplay aspect itself. the developers have tried to make this game into a vr cs:go, cool i guess, but with it, came the gunplay. horizontal recoil galore. headshot game. moreover on headshot game, who in their right mind thought it was a good idea, in their studio, to make an akm be able to penetrate and instantly kill to the head, no matter what? why bother using a sniper rifle for when their best 'marksmen' can just shoot in the rough area of an enemies head and win.
adding more paid cosmetics and maps that have little to no flavor or individuality, isn't what makes a game stay alive. i would say do better, vankrupt, but it's clear that won't be happening any time soon.
in conclusion, do not purchase this once glorious, now rotting product. it reeks, and if this is their only product, which is also basically an ABANDONED one, over the course of **NINE YEARS**, don't expect anything else good coming from them, on this installment, or anything else they may make in the future.
It's Fun
I think Pavlov has the best weapon implementation so far than any other VR game but i've bought Pavlov pretty late – in 2026 and it feels that the game is pretty empty. Amount of servers is low and sometimes it's hard to find a proper server. Would I recommend it? No it has a lot of upsides but it feels barely alive.

It's hard to say there's anything necessarily WRONG about Pavlov these days, but VR shooters have simply moved on. (That and the mod support seems a little bit unstable after they swapped to an ingame mod browser instead of Steam Workshop)
For reasons of modding, crossplay, general game feel and shooting, and actual content to play, you'd be better off playing Contractors VR or Zero Caliber 2.

I have (sadly) developed an addiction to counter-strike. I've had an addiction to VR since 2020 when I got my 1st VR headset. This game, in many ways, is just Counter-Strike VR (With some CoD Black Ops 3 mixed in), which created a crippling addiction to this game. The modding scene, despite being moved over to Mod.io from the Workshop nuking, is still fantastic. 9/10 game.

I really like the game. I'm a huge fan of Counter Strike and VR, and this is BOTH at the same time. I was worried about the player base, but honestly whenever I tried to play, evening or midday there were some people online and I was able to play. It is true however that you can't always play the game mode you want, but there's always a team deathmatch you can join, search and destroy (bomb) is more difficult to come by sometimes.
i came back after years to play my workshop games only to see that everything is broken. This might've happen years ago according to Reddit but I mostly played Pavlov for the community made maps, guns, and zombies. I tried to download some new versions but they were all incredibly buggy and had different weapons than before. This game for me died with the latest update and I wish I could use a reverted version which is dedicated for workshop mods.
Pavlov VR is not the same as it once was.
I miss when the game was still in its somewhat early stages, before the UI update, removal of Steam Workshop and especially before the upgrade to UE5. Now its a complete stuttery mess no matter what type of (VR) setup you have: Wireless or Wired, turning down graphical settings and changing the resolution, even switching between Windows and Linux.
Playing the game back in 2020 felt like its golden era and especially performance-wise. Having a different system back then, with considerably weaker specs (i5 9600+RTX2060), the game ran perfectly without any stutters or random lag spikes.

I love this game, I only have one issue. it can randomly be really tricky to run when using a Oculus Quest headset (which can be expected with link) otherwise really good game I have 5x the amount of hours on shack.

most negative attention is from people who were nostalgic about the mods that steam workshop had (old mod host area) being mad that the devs had to wipe the mods to update stuff
frankly, a lot of peoples issues with the games handling stem from a lack of their understanding of the fact that vankrupt is a company that can't afford to keep a rarely played legacy branch maintained after it broke, and won't prioritize keeping an outdated modding system because veteran PC players want it to stay
the game is good, has some controversy due to handling. some handling was bad, some was overblown in how bad it was, and some is downright vankrupt handling it well or in a way that people shouldnt really complain about, with the community being outraged for no reason. its still a good game, and the only major issues that someone should really care about are either resolved or irrelevant atp. the only actual genuine downside at this point is the playerbase not being large, which is true, but all of PCVR has been falling in playercount, and at a similar rate to pavlov.
i wouldnt listen to a lot of opinions on the game to be honest though. the only people caring about anyones perception of the game atp (so anyone you'll find giving an opinion on it, including me) are people who hate the game more than anything in their life (especially on steam, many people on the steam stuff for this game just sit on steam posts and live to post hate about pavlov) or are diehard lovers of the game, so its gonna end up being insanely biased.
Buy this game. Just do it
There is no tactical gameplay in this at all. Play it and you'll see exactly what I mean. It's basically call of duty VR.

This is probably the best i'm gonna get with a WW2 vr shooter. Sucks that there's barely anyone playing, but when there are, it's some of the most fun you can have.
PS: The graphics are honestly really good. Explosions light up rooms and I love it :)
