oO is a striking example of how far a single, well-executed idea can carry an entire game. Developed and published by Maciej Targoni, it strips away nearly everything typically associated with modern games—story, progression systems, even visual complexity—and focuses entirely on a minimal, highly controlled mechanic. What remains is an experience that feels almost pure in its intent: a test of timing, rhythm, and focus wrapped in a deceptively simple presentation that gradually reveals its depth the longer you engage with it.
At its core, the gameplay revolves around guiding a small circle as it travels along the edges of larger circular paths. With a single input, you can switch directions at key moments, allowing you to navigate through interconnected loops while avoiding hazards. The rules are introduced almost instantly, with little need for explanation, and this immediate clarity is one of the game’s strongest qualities. You always understand what you’re supposed to do—the challenge lies in executing it with precision. Obstacles appear in increasingly complex patterns, forcing you to react quickly while also anticipating what comes next. It’s a system that feels intuitive from the start but becomes demanding as soon as speed and complexity begin to escalate.
What makes oO particularly engaging is how it balances simplicity with intensity. Early levels ease you into the mechanics, giving you time to develop a sense of timing and movement. Before long, however, the game begins to push back, introducing tighter spaces, faster rotations, and patterns that require split-second decisions. The difficulty curve is steep but fair, and the game rarely feels arbitrary in its design. Every failure can be traced back to a mistimed input or a momentary lapse in concentration, which makes improvement feel both achievable and satisfying. The quick restart system reinforces this loop, allowing you to jump back into the action immediately after a mistake, turning repetition into a form of learning rather than frustration.
There is also a subtle rhythm to the gameplay that becomes more apparent over time. While it is not explicitly a rhythm game, the movement of the circles and the placement of obstacles often create patterns that can be internalized. Players who find this flow begin to rely less on conscious reaction and more on instinct, moving in sync with the game’s pacing. This creates a unique experience where moments of intense focus are punctuated by a sense of almost meditative repetition. It’s a delicate balance, and when it works, it gives the game a compelling, almost hypnotic quality.
Visually, oO embraces minimalism in a way that feels purposeful rather than limiting. The use of simple geometric shapes and clean color palettes ensures that the screen remains readable at all times, even when the action becomes chaotic. Each level introduces slight visual variations, but these are always in service of clarity rather than decoration. The result is an aesthetic that feels cohesive and functional, allowing players to focus entirely on the mechanics without distraction. This restraint extends to the overall presentation, which avoids unnecessary embellishments in favor of a clean, focused design.
The audio complements this approach with understated but effective sound design. Ambient tones and subtle cues reinforce the rhythm of the gameplay, helping players develop a sense of timing that goes beyond visual input. The combination of sound and motion creates an environment that feels both calm and tense, depending on how deeply you are engaged. It’s not a soundtrack that demands attention, but one that quietly supports the experience, enhancing the sense of flow without overwhelming it.
In terms of content, oO is relatively concise, offering a series of levels that can be completed in a short amount of time. However, its value lies in mastery rather than length. The challenge of refining your performance, reducing mistakes, and achieving smoother runs provides a reason to revisit levels even after completion. It is a game that encourages self-improvement, where the satisfaction comes not from unlocking new content but from becoming better at what is already there. This makes it particularly well-suited for short play sessions, though it can also be surprisingly absorbing over longer periods.
The game’s minimalism, while central to its appeal, also defines its limitations. There is little in the way of variation beyond the core mechanic, and players looking for evolving systems or narrative elements may find the experience too narrow. The difficulty, though fair, can also be demanding, especially for those who are less inclined toward precision-based gameplay. It does not attempt to accommodate every type of player, and its appeal is strongest among those who appreciate focused, skill-driven challenges.
Ultimately, oO succeeds by committing fully to its concept and executing it with precision. It demonstrates that a game does not need complexity or scale to be engaging—only clarity of design and a strong understanding of its own mechanics. While it may not offer the variety or depth of larger titles, it delivers a tightly crafted experience that is both challenging and rewarding in its own right. For players who enjoy refining a single skill and finding satisfaction in mastery, it stands as a compelling and memorable example of minimalist game design.

Thanks for a great childhood!
Challenging
Surely not my type of games but somehow I found it pretty enjoyable: elegant visually and gameplay-wise, all while not super punishing due to checkpoints

It’s a rhythm game, or a platformer, or an auto-runner, or something, that is entirely based on one button, that switches you from inside and outside to avoid spikes. Some parts of the levels look more complex than just one string, but most of alternative routes are fake and impassible. It’s an extreme test of reaction times and cognitive abilities that is accessible only to the young pre-adult humans at peak of their form. Being a falling-apart grown silverback adult, and a corona-zombie-regard this crap is so hard it is almost luck. Not only it’s hard to calculate the routes, but also to leave the rut during the execution.
There’s plenty of checkpoints, but it’s the garbage dunk sous design torture platformer. And the biggest sin they can commit is to have non-instant restarts. The spikes are not synced so there are plenty of places where you have to idle after every death to reach the only possible time-window. The camera that fails to keep up with the hitbox is not helping either. And the hitboxes are all out of whack. The line switching hitbox is lagging behind, meanwhile spike hit-boxes are rushing ahead of time. And then the spikes can desync, drift and occupy both lanes at the same time. Thankfully the checkpoints remember where you were even if you re-load the level. The levels are not on a rhythm, and the later levels intentionally throw off the rhythm so you can’t gain muscle memory either, there’s no way to get used to the bad hitboxes.
There are four levels, then there are these four levels but with a wobble effect making this crap only harder. And then there’s the infinite mode that is pure luck, on top of requiring being a youth at a peak form. The most i could ever get was 7 with a big lucky sequence. But there’s an achievement to reach 100 loops. No, thanks, i couldn’t reach even 15.
I hate this game so much. Would recommend.

not the type of game that the developer usually puts out, but it's OK.
the timing on swapping between circles favors being late rather than early, which is a little annoying.

This a fun, fantastic, addictive game at a great price. Absolutely enjoying it. Developer is very honest. As someone else mentioned in their review, an editor would be nice to have so users can make additional levels. Highly recommended. I'm sure I will buy more of his games. Love that you can try out these games on Kongregate.com before you purchase here.

overall very good.
can recommend it.
Great Concept, Painful Execution
To put it simply, the beginning is quite interesting and very promising. However, the puzzles quickly become incredibly difficult and, frankly, unenjoyable. At times, it feels like sheer luck is required to progress. Honorable mentions go to level 3 because it feels like it was made by a psychopath who loves making players suffer.
I’ve played many fast-paced games, and most have smooth, intuitive camera movement. In contrast, this game’s camera switches jarringly fast whenever you change circles. It throws off your visual focus, making it much easier to fail.
While some obstacles can be mastered with enough repetition, the Endless mode completely disregards what you’ve learned. The speed ramps up instantly, not gradually, leaving no time to adjust. There’s no grace period - not even a second - to recalibrate your muscle memory. To put this into perspective, the first speed spike hits at obstacle 7 and then at osbstacle 13 - at that poinst it’s already overwhelming. Yet somehow, the final achievement expects players to reach level 100. You cannot be serious.

Amazing Game! I totally forgot I had it in the Library. it is now on my daily list.
thanks for developing such a teriffic game.

super simplistic, minimal idea executed amazingly. It's a very "enter the zone" kind of game, where you must get the timing down and stay r-e-l-a-x-e-d. A very nice way to pass some time and clear your mind.
Insanely difficult minimalistic arcade game that will have you pulling your hair out.
The premise is simple really, flip which side of a circle you're rotating on, and progress further by going into new circles when there's an overlap, whilst dodging spikes, the main obstacle. The game only requires one button to play, but even then, it's ever so frustrating.
Funnily enough, there's only four levels, which really goes to show just how brutal this game is, there's no holding your hand in this one, it's just straight into the hellzone.
Apart from the four levels, there's an endless mode, which, as the name suggests goes on infinitely, as a test of your consistency. It really pushes your reflexes to the max as it keeps getting progressively faster the higher score you get, and in this mode, you can't take your time either, as a massive red wave is slowly trailing behind you, waiting to end your run.
The four levels and the endless mode also have an alternative version. Basically, the visuals change to what it would be like to be high off of shrooms. This makes it all the more difficult to perceive what's going on, but it makes for a great challenge.
Now, endless mode is cool and all, but there's a caveat to it. An achievement that requires you to reach at least 100 score in endless mode, the bane of my existence. If you're like me and your reflexes can fluctuate, getting to 100 feels like being trapped in an eternal prison, and when you continuously keep attempting it, your eyes start to lose focus and that slows things down EVEN more. But hey, when you are able to complete the challenge, you feel like a living legend, so I guess, it's rewarding in a way.
A great title to test your reflexes, 100% worth it, especially with its cheap price.

- Плохая заметность игрока Кружочек (игрок) небольшой, и имеет тот же цвет что и кольца, из-за чего за ним сложно следить;
- Резкая и запаздывающая камера Камера перемещается резко и не всегда сразу, из-за чего можно не успеть разглядеть что будет дальше;
- Непонятные траектории шипов и колец Шипы могут как неожиданно вылазить, так и крутиться, из-за чего можно слиться просто не зная что будет дальше. Кольца тоже двигаются без указания траектории, и могут крутиться в разные стороны, то замедляя игрока, то ускоряя;
- Долгие уровни В игре всего 4 уровня, их можно было бы пройти за несколько минут, но вполне можно где-то застрять. Куда лучше было разделить уровни на маленькие;
- Невозможность продолжить с чекпоинта На уровнях есть чекпоинты, но если вы выйдите с уровня, то не сможете продолжить с этого чекпоинта;
Cool game, the main levels aren't too long so they're a decent size to be able to memorise (and there's breathing room to remember if required).
The endless mode is really fun I like how the sounds and music get faster and higher-pitched as you go as well as spinning faster, it adds an extra intensity. I'll note though if you get motion sick it may be a bit much and there are achievements for the endless mode (it's the 2nd vid on the store page as of time of writing to see how much it spins).
Wobbly mode is funny and knowing levels/patterns is even more key to that, but I haven't played much of that yet as of writing this review.
The game is very cheap so I would say it's worth it.
I will always recommend Maciej Targoni's games, they are intuitive to operate, simple to learn and well-designed to keep you engaged.
This game is very different from many of the casual puzzle games I've played before. I bought it because I trust the dev, and while I wasn't disappointed, it's important to know that this is not strictly a casual puzzle game. This is a high-precision, simple, but challenging platformer. It's very cool and the epitome of minimalist design that distills interesting game concepts to their fundamental components and pushes them to their limits.
...but it gets pretty hard. I would have appreciated confirmation that my progress within the level was saved, because not knowing that caused me to push even harder to finish a level that was so difficult (due to the accuracy and varied timing required) it was making my head hurt. This is not a Saturday-morning coffee game.
If you're interested in high-speed platforming, this is worth the price. I have never felt I wasted money on a Maciej Targoni game. Be forewarned, however, this one will test you more than you might anticipate.
short, sweet, arcade-y game that gets you moving tangentially between circles with fixed pattern cycles and nice gameplay
music imho has aged a little weird, ymmv, though gameplay is still enjoyable.
get it for 1 buck, you'll get a handful or two of hours' worth of gameplay
Circles where you have to jump between inside and out - to avoid obstacles or go to the next rim.
I have to say I wish there was a "meh" recommendation. Not sure if the game just isn't for me or there is a control problem, where the switch-over timing has to be perfect or a combination due to my age. Got to down vote reluctantly.
good bit of fun and a nice challenge. and for what, a dollar!?!?
could be longer though....oO 2 when?
I am not good at this game
A bit too difficult. To the point of being annoying.
O.
Quick score: 8.5/10
Really fun little game, a bit puzzly but there are always way to find how to solve each sections, all the levels aren't "TOO" bad, only level 3 took me some time because i couldn't understand what i was supposed to do on checkpoint 2. But once i found the way to do it, it went pretty smoothly.
Overall i don't have any complains despite the fact that the last endless achievement gave me nausea, wasn't expecting my motion sickness to play a role there but it SPEENS really fast at some point, and i couldn't just handle it. Managed to do it eventually and i'm glad i did.
Time spent for all achievements : 85 minutes
Will i do all deathless? Probably not.
Do i recommend the game, definitely!
Any awareness? If you have motion sickness like i do, it is still possible but it may be really uncomfortable (especially for the endless)
For my own sanity, I'm refunding this. I managed to get through the first level but it's too much precision for me.
I'm someone who enjoys Super Meat Boy but doesn't go for the dark worlds. If you get joy out of things being this hard, go right ahead.
If you can control yourself when you get angry and feel happy when you reach the next save point after a long period of patience, play this game.
Also, if you have any criticisms, your suggestion orrequests about the game, if you find any errors inthe game, it would be better if you report them tothe developer of the game.
让我有类似感受的游戏还有 STG(我主要玩东方)。
It's good for about 20 minutes of entertainment. Beyond that is a brick wall that I can't pass even after 100 tries. The achievement rates confirm that while 50% of players beat level 2, only 20% can beat level 3.
Very good. Esthetic through pure gameplay commanding full focus.

i play this game every now and again always a fun time
1/10
I really wanted to like this game, but the difficulty curve is just insane, and not in the good way: I'd know what to do, but physically making the inputs in time was the hard part.
Levels 1 and 2 are fine, but by level 3 the game felt more like an APM test than anything.
If you like to be brutalised by games, go ahead and pick this one up, because that's what it does to you. If mere challenge isn't enough, and you actually want to have fun during the process... I'd pass on this one.
not fun dont play it
Give me my 5 hours back.
4 base levels are very short and kinda pointless (just memorization and tight timings, nothing too impressive), 4 drunk levels are just a visual challenge of previous levels (same thing but you see less, LOL).
Endless mode was promising at first, a great field to train your pattern recognition and mucle memory... Except ♥♥♥♥ your pattern recognition - the screen itself after 50 points starts to spin so fast that I feel like I am looking at the washing mashine (motion sickness warning) and ♥♥♥♥ your muscle memory - the speed increases as you progress so you can't use the same clicks you were using 30 points back.
Getting to 100pts was way too frustrating and not fun, and even looked like random after 90.
Play geometry dash if you want something endless with click timing and memorization.

i review games on steam after i 100% complete them! check out my reviews to see all the games i have completed!
oO is an arcade/puzzle game developed and published by maciej targoni. it released may 20th, 2015 on steam and is targoni's second game published to steam, following hook's release earlier in the year. the main goal is controlling a ball as it moves around the circumference of interconnected circles. you can shift from the interior to the exterior of the circle and vice versa. you dodge obstacles as you try to finish all the levels. it's fairly simple, but all of targoni's games are. it's easy to learn, but hard to master, making the game fun and frustrating at the same time. you'll need a quick reaction time if you want to complete this game. the endless mode acts as a way to provide replay-ability after completing the rest of the game. it's funny seeing negative reactions/reviews for this game as it's clearly just people that couldn't pass a certain level or just couldn't get going at all. i definitely recommend this, especially when it's on sale. i wouldn't really say you have to wait for a sale, as the game is only a dollar for full price.
I'd rather pull out my own teeth then play some of the later levels in this game. I don't know how people do it, the game literally has a drunk goggles filter for some levels in case you felt too comfortable. Early on its kinda satisfying I guess.
"oO" is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. The game is a simple, shallow one-button action/reflaxes game where you press a button to make a ball flip from the inside to the outside of a circle or vice versa. If you let the ball hit an obstacle, you die. To complete each level you need to "flip" the ball between the series of connected circles that make up the level. That's all there is to it. Well, this is exactly the kind of thing mobile peasants love to play on their iPhones.
From a technical perspective, as a mobile app, this doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision.
The mobile app features extremely lazy, minimalist "art", of the type you normally expect to see in low effort Flash/browser games and mobile apps. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing.
The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here.
Because this is a mobile app, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the iPhones that the mobile app was designed for. These are unfortunate handicaps and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was an afterthought for the iPhone developers who are to blame for this. The mobile app is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for mobile phones forces upon a game. Once more, mobile devs have made gaming worse for everyone. I didn't spend thousands on building a gaming rig just so I could pretend it's an iPhone.
These technical defects push this mobile app below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
"oO" is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the mobile app, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.
Great game, very hard but very satisfying once you beat all the levels.
So... I love the game, but I hate the game...
It would have been less frustrating if the spikes wouldn't get bugged out when dying, shifting the spikes over to impossible spots... Needed to restart the 4th level at least two times now, because of the end. :'D
could've been fun, instead it just made me nauseous
Another review on here said it perfectly: this is a very cool puzzle game idea but the implementation is far too hard. It's so hard as to be unenjoyable and frustrating. It feels like bashing your head against a wall. It's agony.
This game is a simple one-button arcade game that's all about timing and reaction. You have to navigate increasingly difficult hand-crafted levels, or play in the endless arcade mode. Press space at the right time: that's all there is to it. But the level design keeps it engaging.
It got me. So stupidly simple but whoa.
The Game
A simple little hardcore game where you jump between circles.
The Achievements
There are 2 types of achievements: beat all of the levels and reach level 100 in endless mode. It can become very, very difficult as the whole screen starts rotating faster and faster. Extremely skill based but my completion time was 11.6 hours.
Recommendation
It is entirely up to you if you want to try it but it falls under the category "very difficult". Some can complete it very fast and others it will take several hours. I would recommend to watch some gameplay and judge for yourself.

Overall Score: 4/10
Wouldn't necessarily not recommend it, but there is no mixed review so I think I will just set it as negative. Pretty barebones reaction/score based game where you simply press space to flip your circle, in an attempt to make it through the obstacles. It's cheap so if you are interested could try it out but I think there are for sure better games in the genre that are a lot better.
Far too hard. An exercise in frustration. The dev has made a great puzzler, but the difficulty is way too high to be enjoyable. Have come back to this so many times, but I'm giving up. The ball needs slowed down.
I shouldn't be raging angry by stage 3, that should be delayed until stage 8 or 9 when I'm invested in it.
Avoid, unless you have lightning reflexes and a high tolerance for annoyance.
Neat, little reaction/puzzle game. Nothing more, nothing less.
The endless mode has a too steep difficulty curve in my eyes though.

I am a 45 yo father, probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I am a single farther to my Son, who is 14 now. My son got this game for Christmas in 2021 from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. So I decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I could maybe play alongside him. I loaded into the game, picked my character and started playing but I was stuck on what you where supposed to do. I asked my Son for help and he hosted a game for me to join. I loved it as it was the best time I had spent with my Son since my wife had died. This game has ever since brought me and my son closer again and now we actually spend time together outside the house together as well. This game reminded me that there's fun to be had in everything, and it has brought both me and my Son many happy memories.
Made my eyes even more round than usual
