Leider muss ich NEW STAR MANAGER negativ bewerten, obwohl ich den – zumindest innerhalb dieses Genres – dargebotenen Ansatz als durchaus positiv empfunden habe.

Als Spieler erwartet einen ein Fußballmanager, der sich außerhalb des eigentlichen Spiels auf die Kernmechaniken reduziert. Zwar muss man sich als Manager auch um Dinge wie den Aufbau des Vereinsgeländes, der Jugendabteilung und des Stadions oder das Abschließen neuer Sponsorenverträge kümmern – allerdings beschränken sich viele dieser Maßnahmen mehr oder weniger auf das Freischalten diverser Auf- bzw. Ausbaustufen oder das Bestätigen bzw. Ablehnen diverser Angebote.

Was das Vereins- und Mannschaftsmanagement angeht, wird vieles durch ein (für mein Empfinden leider nur mäßig umgesetztes) Kartensystem getragen, mittels dessen u.a. Spieler- und Vorstandsgespräche geführt, Halbzeitansprachen gehalten, Verträge verlängert oder Verletzungszeiten verringert werden.

Bei den Fußballspielen (die mich ein wenig an das alte Tipp-Kick-Tischfussballspiel aus den 70er- und 80er-Jahren erinnert haben) übernimmt man dann selbst die Kontrolle über seine Mannschaft. Grundsätzlich hat mir dieses Element gut bis sehr gut gefallen, und ich würde es sogar als das herausragende Element dieses Managers bezeichnen – obwohl man gar nicht das komplette Spiel absolviert, sondern lediglich einzelne Szenen, in denen man die Partie zu seinem eigenen Vorteil entscheiden muss.

Leider gibt es jedoch mehrere Punkte, die in ihrer Summe dafür sorgen, dass ich das Spiel trotz seiner guten Ansätze nicht gut bewerten kann.

Der erste große Kritikpunkt betrifft das aktiv zu steuernde Fußballspiel. Hier bemerkte ich schnell, dass man Tore am einfachsten erzielt, indem man sich innerhalb des gegnerischen Strafraums – am effektivsten auf den Außenbahnen – "auf eine bestimmte Weise" hin und her bewegt, bis man gefoult wird, was fast immer zu einem Elfmeter führt. Wenn man das einmal erkannt hat, ist es schwer, diese Strategie nicht ständig auszunutzen – zumal es auf normalem Wege deutlich schwerer ist, ein Tor zu erzielen, sofern man keine schnelleren Angriffsspieler hat als die gegnerische Mannschaft Abwehrspieler.

Damit komme ich direkt zu meinem zweiten größeren Kritikpunkt: Der überzogene Vorteil durch die Schnelligkeit eigener oder gegnerischer Spieler fühlt sich in diesem Spiel sehr schlecht ausbalanciert an. Allein dadurch erscheinen mir viele taktische Überlegungen schnell als stark vernachlässigbar oder gar als komplett überflüssig.

Auch fühlte es sich für mich teilweise nicht gut beziehungsweise nicht richtig ausbalanciert an, dass all das, was ich als Manager tue, am Ende wenig bis gar nichts bringt, wenn ich die Handhabung des „Tipp-Kick-Spiels“ nicht beherrsche. Und nicht wenige Spieler werden mit der Steuerung auf dem Platz (zumindest teilweise) hadern oder diese selbst nach vielen Spielstunden – so wie ich – wohl nicht vollständig verinnerlicht haben.

Und leider gibt es für mich auch außerhalb des Platzes mehrere Kritikpunkte, die ich als stark spielspaßmindernd empfunden habe. Ein Beispiel: Steigt man mit einer mittelmäßigen Mannschaft in eine höhere Liga auf, wäre in der Realität jeder Verein sehr zufrieden, wenn man dort mehrere Unentschieden erzielt und die Klasse halten kann. Beim NEW STAR MANAGER hingegen ist damit niemand zufrieden – weder der Vorstand noch die Fans oder Sponsoren. Ein Unentschieden, selbst als totaler Underdog, löst keine positive Reaktionen aus, während man bei jeder Niederlage aus allen Bereichen (Vorstand, Fans, Sponsoren) sofort Abwertungen kassiert. Das fühlt sich in manchen Situationen einfach falsch und unfair an, weil das Spiel hier – wie auch in anderen Bereichen – absolut unverhältnismäßig vorgeht.

Besonders deutlich wird das, wenn man dies z.B. mit der Gewichtung von Interviewfragen vergleicht. Diese muss man häufig unter großem Zeitdruck – oft innerhalb weniger Sekunden – beantworten, ohne dabei das Fragefenster verlassen zu dürfen um etwas in den Statistiken Nachzuschauen. Dabei werden zum Beispiel Fragen zum Verhältnis von Siegen zu Niederlagen in der gesamten Karriere gestellt, und dann erscheinen Antwortmöglichkeiten wie 45 %, 44 %, 42 % oder 39 %. In solchen Fällen bleibt oft nur pures Raten. Und beantwortet man eine solche Interviewfrage dann falsch, sinkt sofort das Vertrauen von Vorstand, Fans und Sponsoren – teilweise um mehrere Prozentpunkte. Also um mehr Punkte, als man selbst mit mehreren Siegen in Folge wieder gutmachen könnte. Und solche Fragen tauchen ständig auf! Mit Realismus hat das aus meiner Sicht nichts mehr zu tun, und es korrumpiert ganz nebenbei den vermeintlich ernsthaften Ansatz massiv. Entsprechend habe ich mich darüber auch immer wieder geärgert.

Ein weiterer Kritikpunkt ist das Vertragssystem. Verträge werden hier meist nur für eine bestimmte Anzahl von Spielen abgeschlossen – oft sogar nur für 10 oder 20 Spieltage. Dadurch ist man permanent damit beschäftigt, Verträge zu verlängern. Dafür benötigt man Karten, die häufig nur zufallsbasiert erscheinen, oder man benötigt hierfür ausreichend Cash – und beides ist oft knapp. Das macht es unnötig schwer und auf Dauer nervig, überhaupt eine stabile Mannschaft aufzubauen.

Hinzu kommt, dass die eigenen Spieler kaum so etwas wie Persönlichkeit besitzen. Die Grafik ist sehr simpel, was für mich prinzipiell kein Problem darstellt. Wenn jedoch selbst die Gesichter der Spieler in ihrem ohnehin schon billigen, fantasielosen Comicstil nur aus einer Handvoll Haar- und Gesichtsvarianten bestehen und sich dadurch sehr stark ähneln, fällt es schwer, überhaupt eine Beziehung zu einzelnen Spielern aufzubauen oder sich zu merken, wer eigentlich wer ist.

Dazu kommen weitere „Kleinigkeiten“, etwa dass bei Sponsorenverträgen "zufällig" IMMER die Angebote, die dem Verein das meiste Geld einbringen würden, ebendiese von den Fans "zufällig" IMMER am stärksten abgelehnt werden und ihre Zufriedenheit am meisten sinken lassen, wenn man diese dennoch annimmt.

Einerseits nimmt sich das Spiel sehr ernst, andererseits tauchen überall solche merkwürdigen und frustrierenden Mechaniken/Entscheidungen/Glücksspielmomente auf.

All diese Punkte (und einige mehr) führen dazu, dass sich das Spiel für mich einfach nicht gut und fair anfühlt – selbst dann nicht, wenn ich die Schwächen des Spiels im Umkehrschluss zu meinem eigenen Vorteil ausgenutzt habe, etwa indem ich (unter bestimmten Voraussetzungen) nach Belieben Elfmeter schinden konnte – auch mehrere in Folge mit ein und demselben Spieler.

Und ich wollte dieses Spiel trotz all dieser für mich negativen Punkte dennoch wirklich mögen. Doch nach rund 25 Stunden Spielzeit fühle ich mich, um es mit Giovanni Trapattoni zu sagen, „wie eine Flasche leer – und habe fertig!“ ;-)

I try not to complain to much, BUT I quickly grew to hate this game.

The most offensive component is the lame controls.
1. You click/drag on the player with the ball to kick.
2. You click/drag on the player with the ball to run.
3. You click/drag on a player that doesn't have the ball to assign a path run.
4. You click/drag on the screen to rotate the screen around.
5. You click (hopefully, you don't accidentally drag) on a player that doesn't have the ball to pass to them.

... THIS IS LAME! Using the same exact control for everything shows a total lack of testing on the part of the game developers! The small number of pixels allowed by this game, doesn't provide enough flexibility to make this week control system work. You spend a chunk of your time accidentally doing the time wrong moves!

AND ULTIMATELY DON'T REINVENT THE WHEEL! Just do what every other game did for the last several decades. Use clicks WITHOUT DRAGGING! Or if the desired platform was touch friendly systems use an action wheel for multiple options.

The controls won't be bad if the AI for your team wasn't so TERRIBLE! Your team members are always running away from the goal and the player who has the ball. This is the basic principals I taught five year-old's who were playing for the first time.

And the card system is beyond lame. I wanted play MANAGEMENT game, meaning I want some vague offering of strategy. The random cards means this game in no better than just playing a slot machine, hoping for a lucky pull.

I came here when I needed a change from Football Tactics and Glory and slept on this for a very, very long time and shouldn't have. It looks like a 1990s Premier Manager vibe from the sales page but there's some depth and a really fun and often very tense games with a brilliantly coded game engine which feels a bit like some of the best Wii football games where you're dragging people to where you want them to be rather than pulling off multi button tricks. This is a really fun game where you can get properly invested in each game as you rise through the ranks from the lowest leagues. It pales a bit once you've mastered it but there's 20-
30 hours of game to enjoy before you get there. Still great stuff.

Tl;dr - most of my review is comparative, explaining why this game fits my preferences better than other soccer/football games. If you've played FIFA and find it too fast-paced and chaotic for you, you might like this a little better. If you've played Football Manager and find that it overwhelms you with too many choices and too much granularity, this might be more manageable for you. If you've played a little turn-based soccer game called Football Tactics and Glory, and found it to not be a very good simulation of soccer, this might be closer to the mark.

Full review - I can't think of another sports game that suits my tastes as well as this one. I don't have razor-sharp reflexes, or lots of experience playing fast-paced console games since I was young, so I'm not good at the EA-style games where you're fully controlling the players directly on the field. But if I swing all the way in the opposite direction and try one of those "spreadsheet simulator" management games, I feel like I'm being bombarded with too many choices and not enough clarity about what I need to do. It seems like a lot of those Manager games are built for hardcore fans of the sport, and intended to be played by people who already know what they need to do for their team to win. I'm looking for a video game that gives me the vicarious experience of managing a sports team, but in a greatly simplified way that doesn't require deep insider knowledge of the sport in real life.

Because I'm not good at handling the fast pace of the real-time sports games, I've long been interested in the possibilities of turn-based sports games. I feel like XCOM is a great example of how a game can simulate the experience of something like Call of Duty or Rainbow Six, but do it in a way where it rewards someone like me for thinking strategically and planning carefully, instead of being a good controller-jockey. So naturally, I was interested in a turn-based soccer game called Football, Tactics, and Glory (in fact, I've been following it for so long that I still just think of it as "Football Tactics"), which enthusiastically compared itself to XCOM. But for my money, the on-field play isn't satisfying either as a turn-based strategy game, or as a credible simulation of soccer. XCOM feels like authentically converting the feel of a realistic special forces raid or small-scale firefight into a turn-based framework (other than the aliens, of course). To me personally, FTG feels about as similar to a real-world sport as Blood Bowl or Dungeon Deathball. In FTG, you can have a turn where your goalkeeper passes the ball to the midfielder, who passes the ball to the forward, who scores a goal, without anyone else on the field taking a single step (and then you can do the exact same thing again the next time your goalie has the ball). I'm not claiming to be an expert in soccer, but what I do know and appreciate about it is that it's a game of constant motion, where large groups of players are persistently running, charging, passing, tackling, jockeying for position, trying to gain the upper hand. A game where you can do a couple passes and then score with no response from the other team (unless you move adjacent to a Central Defender, but that's easily avoided) just doesn't capture any of the things that I think make soccer special and exciting.

Why am I talking so much about a different game in my review of New Star Manager? Because that's what was on my mind when I started playing New Star. I spent a lot of time playing FTG despite my lack of appreciation for the execution of the on-field play. I still found the management stuff in between games to be pretty enjoyable, and I just didn't have any other option if I didn't want a game with hectic and chaotic real-time play. But I kept searching for other options, and eventually found New Star. This game strikes a balance between appealing to players like me who don't want to play FIFA, while still capturing the constant dynamic motion of real soccer, by making the on-field play pausable real time. The control is a little finicky, but I still like it a lot better than a fully real-time, constant fast-paced action type of game. The management aspect is maybe a little less realistic and engrossing than FTG (it's very card-based, including sometimes getting very good players in level-up booster packs that don't cost any money to sign), but I find the overall experience way more enjoyable than FTG. I have played many seasons of FTG, and have never once had a defender score a goal in that game. I don't even think it would be realistically possible unless you were building your whole team's strategy around that, and playing on a low difficulty level against a weaker team, and got really lucky. In New Star, it's not uncommon for defenders to score (or midfielders, who are a little more likely to score in FTG, but probably just if they have the Attacking Midfielder specialty).

Anyway, I guess my point is just that I think this game has much better on-field play than Football, Tactics, Glory, with a comparable management element (a nice "beer and pretzels" level of complexity, that doesn't bombard me with too many decisions). If anyone who reads this far knows of any other sports games that fit into a similar niche as this one, please let me know. The closest I could find to a sports management game with this level of complexity was Tennis Elbow Manager, and I don't know of any other sports games that have pausable real-time.

You can build a club from the ground up, not just on the field but off it as well, including the building and development of various facilities, along with the stadium itself. It's not Football Manager, but it doesn't pretend to be. That said, there are still a lot of challenges in working with the card system and how to construct your attacking moves in the matches themselves.

Unlike modern Football Manager versions, the game is polished, runs with few hiccups, and doesn't need to run excessive amounts of scripted scenarios during matches to try and generate more drama. As it stands currently, New Star Manager is probably the best football management sim out there, and it doesn't need any licences to pull it off.

FM/FIFA (not the EA FC crap) Manager Career Mode (custom team only) mix all into one. It is a good game with the few (minor) flaws that it has, especially that it is slightly too easy at times and becomes a bit too boring, so I usually leave this game for a while and then come back, rinse and repeat. Unfortunately, it has not been updated since 2019 so don't expect much else from what is mentioned here.

Ich liebe das Game . ist eine süchtig machende Kombination aus Manager und Taktik. aber eigentlich entsteht sie sucht draus, dass man in angriffsmomenten der Spiele selber in einer Mischung aus runden-basierten (und auf Knopfdruck Echtzeit) Scenen der Spiele, Einfluss auf das spiel nehmen kann . alle Fußballmanager sollten optional so ein Modus haben. Genial.
Ich hoffe auf ein teil 2 mit mehr Tiefgang im Manager Sektor und mehr Freiheiten wie zB. Vereinswechsel.

Hem simulasyon hem de arcade tarzı bir futbol oyunu. New Star Soccer serisine aşina olanlar kontrollere hakim olacaktır. Çok derin bir simulasyon tarafı yok ancak ortalama 10-15 saatten sonra sıkmaya başlıyor. Maçlarda pozisyonları kontrol etmek simulasyon tarafından çok daha eğlenceli, oyunu oynanabilir kılan taraf olmuş. Çok iyi indirimde alınabilir.

Das man die Angriffe selber spielen muss finde ich schlecht. Auch erschließt sich mir das Spiel nicht.
Da man wohl bis 2 h Spielzeit das Spiel bei Steam zurückgeben kann, mach ich das nun.

Vorweg: Ich habe schon sehr viele Fußball Manager gespielt. New Star Manager gehört sicher nicht zu den schlechtesten und spielt sich ähnlich wie Football Tactics Glory, da man auch aktiv als Spieler eingreifen muss. Einzelne Teile des Live-Spiels werden jedoch automatisch berechnet, wie das bei vielen Fußball Managern der Fall ist. Es kann aus ca. 30 Ländern aus 6 Kontinenten eine Trainerkarriere ausgewählt werden. Der wirtschaftliche Aspekt wie Finanzen, Stadion, Sponsoren, etc. ist aber wesentlich komplexer und besser, als bei Football Tactics Glory, und funktioniert teilweise über Aktionskarten. Diese kann man nach jedem erfolgreichen Spiel erwerben. Man kann diese Aktionskarten dann für Training, Scouting, Zufriedenheit, Fitness etc. einsetzen. Zudem gibt der Vorstand einem nach je fünf Spielen drei Aufgaben, die es zu erledigen gilt,- bei Erfüllung bekommt man eine Belohnung. Bei erfolgreichen Presseinterviews bekommt man ebenfalls eine Belohnung.

Es ist nur wenig Mikro Management nötig und eine Saison ist recht schnell durch. Vom Schwierigkeitsgrad ist das Game eher als leicht einzustufen. Das Spiel kann auch mit einem Controller gesteuert werden. Es können drei Spielstände angelegt werden und das Spiel speichert automatisch in der Cloud. Ein bisschen schade finde ich das kein Steam-Workshop zur Verfügung steht.

Fazit: New Star Manager ist ein echter Geheimtipp und eine gute und kostengünstige Alternative zu Football Tactics Glory. Für mich ist das Spiel derzeit einer der besten - auch voll funktionsfähigen - Fußball Manager auf Steam.

First of all: I have played a lot of football managers. New Star Manager is certainly not one of the worst and plays similarly to Football Tactics Glory, as you also have to actively intervene as a player. However, individual parts of the live game are calculated automatically, as is the case with many football managers. You can choose a coaching career from around 30 countries on 6 continents. The economic aspect such as finances, stadium, sponsors, etc. is much more complex and better than in Football Tactics Glory, and partly works via action cards. These can be purchased after every successful game. You can then use these action cards for training, scouting, happiness, fitness, etc. In addition, the board gives you three tasks to complete after every five games - if you complete them you get a reward. You also get a reward for successful press interviews.

Little micro-management is required and a season is over quite quickly. In terms of difficulty, the game can be classified as easy. The game can also be controlled with a controller. Three save games can be created and the game automatically saves in the cloud. I think it's a bit of a shame that there's no Steam workshop available.

Conclusion: New Star Manager is a real insider tip and a good and inexpensive alternative to Football Tactics Glory. For me, the game is currently one of the best - also fully functional - football manager on Steam.

[b]New Star Manager[/b] es un juego de administración en el que encarnamos a un “manager” de un equipo de fútbol cuya misión es llevar el equipo a la victoria. Cuenta con mecánicas de estrategias y algunas pinceladas de RPG, aunque todo es bastante superficial pero adictivo.

En su gameplay debemos gestionar cosas relacionadas con el equipo, como también, mejorar nuestro estadio y área de entrenamiento. Las decisiones que debemos tomar van desde qué tipo de personal contratar y hablar con la prensa hasta gestionar completamente nuestro equipo cambiando su formación y resolviendo el dilema de nuestros jugadores, porque no es tarea simple mantenerlos contentos: Ellos pueden exigirnos mejorar su salario, o reducir su desempeño si un jugador que no les agrada está en la cancha. Cuando se juega un partido, eventualmente tendremos la posibilidad de definir hacia dónde patear o a quien darles el pase entre otras acciones.

El juego también abarca elementos de RPG al permitirte mejorar y desarrollar a los jugadores individualmente. A medida que progresás, es posible invertir en el crecimiento de sus habilidades y estadísticas, lo que agrega una dimensión adicional a la gestión del equipo. No obstante, [b]New Star Manager[/b] es mucho menos profundo en comparación con otros juegos del género. Muchas mecánicas están simplificadas lo que puede ser una ventaja o desventaja, dependiendo de las preferencias del jugador.

New Star Manager is an offshoot of the New Star Soccer games that came before it, but features 3D graphics and interesting mechanics.

For example - This is a management game through and through, but you can control key outcomes of the game yourself, dictating whether or not you will win the game.

It's surprisingly deep and versatile also with lots of different customisation options for your team.

This is definitely worth picking up.

You should be able to fire your assistant coach for giving useless tipps. He talks "we have to play more offensive" i do it, opponent team scores 2 goals. Nostaljik atari oyunlarının havasını yansıtan türden eğlenceli bir menajerlik oyunudur kendisi. Ayrıca New Star Soccer sevenlerin aşina olduğu türden oynanışı var. Yalnız bu oyunda saha içindeki tek bir oyuncudan ziyade komple bir takımı yönetiyoruz maç esnasında. Ayrıca kendine has oyuncu geliştirmeleri, kulüp binası yükseltmeleri ve transfer sistemi var. Nostaljik futbol oyunu ve menajerlik sevenlere tavsiye ederim. En azından birkaç sezon oynattırır kendini.

The game mechanics make this a really fun game to play. If you want to be challenged, without the overwhelming depth of statistics, then this title is for you. The economy with respects to in-game achievement is superbly well paced making the longevity of appeal to play, exceptional. You will have fun building your team and facilities. Simple to navigate, simple to learn and play, make this title a refreshingly different experience, when coming from more statistic intense library in this genre, as I have. I would dearly love to see some DLC for this title. Well done people. I JUST LOVE IT!
