While I wouldn't rate it as perfect since I have a few personal criticisms, I really enjoyed this game overall. I didn't know at all what to expect going into it, but I was pleasantly surprised by the underlying themes and became quickly attached to the characters. It's mildly tedious if you plan to 100% it and go in blind but with some planning and slight effort you can minimize the playthroughs while maximizing the viewable endings through save scumming (which the game basically seems to encourage as well with the addition of the crown system). I played it 5 times but could have cut that down to 3-4 if I had left things less up to fate/didn't make a stupid mistake in my hasty clicking. I think my original playthrough was about 2 hours long and I didn't initially obtain all of the pages out of pure laziness based on the fact of already knowing that I was planning to go for all of the endings. Once you bother to find the pages once though they're much easier to scoop up in subsequent playthroughs because they're always in the same place.
Especially on sale, I would recommend Mythic Ocean to anyone who enjoys cozy games that are low stakes in terms of what it requires from you gameplay-wise but appreciate a little bit of nuance/mild tension in the form of the kinds of ethical dilemmas and cause-effect scenarios that are typically found in "choose your own adventure stories." It obviously has some degree of replayability as a feature due to the fact that it has multiple different endings, but there's also a lot of overlap in said endings and generally rehashing a lot of the same dialogue over and over, so if you're inclined to 100% it over the course of 1-2 gaming sessions like I did then there's no real reason to ever touch it again after that. So as long as you don't set overly unrealistic expectations for the replayability factor based on the premise, then it's a solid buy for anyone who just wants to immerse themselves in a beautiful world with interesting storytelling for a day or two.

This game is incredibly cozy and cute. It genuinely feels like raising kids in the ocean—supporting five princes as they grow up, only to eventually witness a full-on royal succession battle vibe（五子夺嫡哈哈哈）

Didn't get to play it much (wasn't in the right headspace when I first opened the game), but right off the bat, the game has a compelling, interesting story, beautiful environments, and well-written characters. Very imaginative setting. This one's gonna go triple platinum, for sure.
This game is too dialog-heavy, has too much backtracking to the same few small areas and it's too hard to figure out who to talk to or what to do to advance the "plot" (if you can even call it that). The free prologue is almost the entire game once you remove all the backtracking and dialog so just play that instead

Moreover, I liked the camera perspective when you talk to them since it helps you to focus on their little movement during the conversation. However, I didn't enjoy seeing the 2D art in the ending since some characters look weird in this format.

You play as an amnesiac to advise the Gods on their beliefs. A lot of the conversations will be related to these topics, with each God having a different focus. The topics are not complicated since they are only related to human emotions, although it feels weird that some of the Gods are basically kids who don't know how the world works.
Events that involve these Gods will happen as you progress, and you'll play a part in shaping their beliefs through your choices. These choices will affect the ending; each God has two endings that they can end up in.

Still, as a game that focuses on its narrative, the ending feels weak. It might be happening due to the numerous endings the game has, making them feel the same. It will tell about the world that was created by the chosen God and how the other God feels, but the reaction is always the same, with a minor variation depending on their beliefs. The similarities can discourage people from replaying the game.

[i]Mythic Ocean[/i]'s gameplay is divided into two parts: exploration and conversations. The first one allows you to explore the vast ocean to find either NPCs, slips of paper, or the Gods. Finding NPCs is completely optional, but the slips of paper are needed to finish the game. However, despite the game having a cool sonar feature to detect NPCs and Gods, it isn't able to detect the slips of paper. Since the areas can be quite vast, searching for them feels like finding a needle in a haystack. Moreover, some will only be revealed after you progress in the game, wasting more of your time.
The conversation part is straightforward. You just need to talk to the Gods to reinforce their beliefs. Each God has two differing beliefs, and your job is to guide them to either one. Since you'll be talking to the Gods a lot, I like how the game has a feature to teleport you to where they usually are. Sometimes, they will not be in their usual location, though, and you need to find them manually using the sonar feature whenever this happens.

The gameplay can be repetitive. You'll need to go back and forth between the Gods to progress the story, and when you are not doing that, you need to scour through the whole area to find the slips of paper needed to finish the game. There is nothing else that you can do in the game. Luckily, it always lets you know whenever there is a new dialogue from a certain God.

I finished the game in 4.3h for the first time. Since some achievements require you to unlock all endings, I finished the game six more times to get them all. You actually only need to finish the game four times for this, but getting the ending that you want can be tricky if you don't know what you are doing like me.
Despite the multiple endings, each ending feels the same. I won't recommend replaying the game unless you are going for some achievements, especially since it's not friendly for second replays. The fast-forward feature is very slow, and it skips all texts rather than the previously read texts, wasting more of your time in the process.

It seems that [i]Mythic Ocean[/i] has a lot of dialogue without substance. At the end of the day, the conversation means nothing except as a tickbox to get the ending, and the endings themselves are too bland and similar to each other. The only good thing the game has is the beautiful-looking environment. I felt like wasting time playing this game, so I'm afraid I can't recommend it.

This is a really wonderful game. I've had it on my wishlist but my partner gifted it to me. This game made me think a lot about some of my beliefs (in a great way!) and as someone who isn't much of a gamer, it was easy to get the hang of. I would buy it myself at full price! Super lovable characters and I look forward to exploring further ...

The characters do different things based off of what you do, which makes replying it fun. This game really makes you feel the weight of your actions at the end.

I finished this game yesterday, and got what I think is a great ending. I've had some time to process it. Even though it's a wonderful game, it's one of those things that ends up being more of a therapy session or zen illuminating things than unexpected. Even when I was frustrated trying to figure out where to go, or what to do, The end result was wonderful and enlightening. I'm going to play it again, and try to do better.

Fun, little game, mostly focused on talking to other characters (which I personally love), though you may want to get it on sale, since there's not much beside it and even though the game offers some replayability due to different choices and endings, it's not really a champion of loads of content and playtime.
I've played a lot of games, but I've never played anything like Mythic Ocean.
It's overall a cute and cozy game - with a philosophically eerie undertone that even veers into eldritch horror at times. Paradoxical? Maybe, but that makes it tonally the PERFECT game for me. Absolutely LOVED the storyline, with its engaging and emotional character backstories, humorous side stories (dolphins and swordfish can coexist!), and surprising twists. Make no mistake, despite the lighthearted veneer, it can get very dark, with even some of the best endings having uneasy pieces to them. There's no gore or anything truly disturbing, with the horror being subtle, implied, and psychological. Even if you don't have thalassophobia, there's no denying that the ocean is inherently unsettling, with its uncharted depths. If you don't believe that, go play Subnautica (another fantastic game!).
The character design is fabulous, with the standouts being Lutra (I hate bugs but I would commit atrocities for that hungry little larva) and Gnosis [spoiler](cyborg Cthulhu???)[/spoiler]. The illustrations are also super cute, and the overall graphics are very pleasant - though some of the areas are a little empty. Dialogue is excellent, with all characters being clearly differentiated, and I didn't notice any glaring errors. I wasn't blown away by the music, but at least it's not annoying, and the sound design is overall very effective. Especially when you start going a little deeper...
Gameplay-wise, there is some fun exploration, but especially on subsequent cycles, it essentially becomes a visual novel. Surprisingly, many of the right choices aren't obvious, and it's a little frustrating how you can screw up a run by making one or two wrong choices. Case in point, I did my first cycle completely blind, and despite doing 90% of Lutra's storyline 'right', I wound up with one of the most horrific endings imaginable [spoiler](all the more so because the bug I hate most is a MOTH - why you gotta do me like that, devs??)[/spoiler]. That being said, there's a decent, easily searchable guide online, and after two cycles you'll probably have a good handle on how to get what you want. Subsequent runs aren't too tedious when you know what to do, and it's not difficult to get all the achievements if you're careful.
I'm honestly floored by how amazing this game is. If you like your oceans with a calm, cute surface and dark, turbulent depths, I can't recommend this highly enough. Lutra for mayor!
Super sweet and cozy game, but it also has some darker elements to it. Music is good too, and the visuals look very nice, although they're simple. There are many choices you can make, characters to meet and so on, so I actually liked this one a lot.

Very sweet....very simple and pretty....but it feels unfinished. There are multiple endings depending on how you advise/interact with the npcs and after my first "genuine" playthrough I found my second "bad answers for fun" try pretty tedious, even with fast forwarding the dialogue. The endings were creative and interesting but still art storyboarding (pretty again, but not animated) and I expected a next chapter or something else to see how my choices affected the game. 5/10 pretty and sweet but very short and somewhat unsatisfying. Very low replayability for something with 9 endings.
Mythic Ocean is an adorable, fun, silly, and quirky little game where you get to explore the ocean and hang out with a few gods. I believe this was originally a Switch game, but seeing so few reviews on Steam is still kind of surprising. I love that parts of this game combine outer space and the deep sea; it's one of my favorite aesthetics in general.
MOST IMPORTANTLY: it lets you hate on dolphins!!! a dolphin game (Ecco the Dolphin) gave me a bad case of thalassophobia as a kid, and while I've gotten over the phobia, my dislike of dolphins remains.
my one complaint about this game is that there is a character who looks like an otter with 6 limbs, and there's also an adorable larva. one is named Lutra, and the other is Amar. even after playing this game for a few hours, my first thought anytime I see Lutra's name is "oh, that's the otter god." NO. Lutra is the larva-like god and Amar is the otter-like god. at the end of the day it's not a huge deal, but the sea otter's scientific name is Enhydra LUTRIS... but maybe this just highlights my prejudices on how characters "should" be named, lol
I do wish there was a bit more to explore, but I really enjoyed playing this overall. who knows, maybe someday the devs will make another similar game, whether it's a sequel or just a spiritual successor.
This is such a charming little game that you can play over and over and find things going differently based on your decision. Playing multiple "Cycles" of the game within the same save file makes a lot of sense in the context of the game, too! The art style is super cute; the characters (both the gods-to-be and NPC seacreatures) charming, sweet, and terrifying in turn. Your choices do make a difference in how the characters react, and the ending you get. I got many moments of absolute delight and awe during my first game especially.
MOTION SICKNESS WARNING: I am prone to motion sickness in first-person games, and this game makes me a little sick if I play for long times, but not as badly or as quickly as some other games. Using teleports as much as possible helps, because it avoids some swimming.

I don't think I've ever seen a game quite like this. I went into it not knowing what to expect - besides an atmospheric, story-driven experience that is - but it's so much more than that. There's love put into every little detail in the game. Storytelling is everywhere. You will feel important; you will feel joy, and you will feel regret (I refuse to elaborate). It's an experience revolving around empathy and responsibility. Your choices will matter. No matter which path you choose however, this game will treat you genuinely. So please, consider playing!
I'd just like to add: one thing that really exceeded my expectations for this game was the exploration aspect - yes, free-roaming exploration! I really appreciate how much it let me immerse in the game's more atmospheric side. You will feel like you belong in the world. To be honest I have no idea what I am, like, am I a fish? I'd just like to know.
As of writing this, I doubt I'm anywhere close to finishing the game. I couldn't hold back on giving a review, however. I'm really looking forward to what the story holds (so, in other words, I'm having a blast). Definitely recommend!

Připomíná to trošku hru Abzû, ale je to mnohem více fantasy a obsahuje úkolové prvky. Zdá se, že ve hře můžete v podstatě dělat, co chcete, jenže ve skutečnosti každý váš krok ovlivní závěr. Dá se to hrát úplně na chill – jen plavat, objevovat a povídat si s vodními bytostmi, jenže ve skutečnosti téměř vše, co uděláte, ovlivňuje další okolnosti, a nikdo vás na to neupozorní. Závěrů je v této hře jedenáct nebo dvanáct, přičemž jen dva z nich jsou dobré – tím myslím ekologické – Rainforest Reserve a The Collective – a těch je docela obtížné dosáhnout. Dá se to dohrát za zhruba čtyři hodiny, ale pokud chcete poznat více závěrů nebo nasbírat achievementy, je to na několikanásobně déle. Mě to bavilo.
beautiful little hidden gem! the underwater graphics were stunning and immersive, and i really loved all the characters and npcs to explore! the responsibility of my actions shaping the outcome of the game really made me stop and think. i cant wait to play through it again! :D

An interesting and exciting game in which you educate gods via simple and short dialogs and tasks, so to speak, whereupon you hand over the power of creation to one of them and then learn in the form of a slide show how they either preserve or ruin their creation. And then everything starts all over again. I've done two playthroughs and seen three endings (two bad and one good) and while it would be nice to see the other endings as well, it's just too repetitive. The game is also quite child-friendly, should be suitable for ages six and up.

I'm really torn on this one. I'd say 6/10 overall. 7.5 in the first half, then a 5 in the second half. It's worth playing if you want a pretty good story with some interesting lore, but keep your expectations low and don't build up ANY excitement for the ending.
The setting and story of the game are very cool and very (to me anyway) original. The game is gorgeous, especially the intro area! Exploring the areas and meeting different characters was great. Learning the lore from the pages was interesting. Lord Poison is one of the best characters in gaming. That being said, the twins just suck. Sure they act similar to real-life annoying, melodramatic children with a sob story, but most people don't want to hang out with annoying melodramatic children... lol.
Now the problem is, there isn't a ton to explore, so after you've explored each of the 5 small zones and there's still plenty of story left. There's rarely a reason to physically move and look around anymore. So the game just turns into what feels like a visual novel for the last 1/3 - 1/2. You just use your teleporter that TP's you directly to each of the 6 characters, and the quests consist almost entirely of talking to the main 6 characters. So you're just spending a few hours of: click character in menu, talk to character, click other character in menu, talk to character, repeat many times until you finish the game.
Now probably the worst part for me is the ending. No spoilers, but at the beginning of the game they tell you the setup is you are basically in limbo after the previous world has ended and before the next one is created, and that this is a cycle. Your goal is to meet, help/hinder, and advise these 5 different gods in whatever way you choose, and your doing so will influence which one becomes the creator of the next world in the cycle (and I believe to some extent influence how each god would impact those worlds). I believe there are 9 endings depending on the decisions you make and who you "choose" to be the next creator.
That sounds cool and interesting, but the game not only FELT like a visual novel in the second half, but the ending actually IS ONE! You spend hours in this cool world with interesting characters, learning about them and the lore, exploring etc, and when you finally get to the end you not only don't get to interact with the new world at all, you don't even get a 3D rendered or in-engine cutscene of it or anything. You get a slideshow of a handful of 2D illustrations with some text to tell you what happens, and it feels like your'e suddenly playing a free visual novel. Even the character models are replaced by 2D still drawings of the characters talking to you for the ending. Another huge letdown [spoiler] was that I spent all this time excited about Lutra's metamorphosis, feeding him, he grows a little, hearing about the great change he's coming to, he goes into a cocoon and you don't even get to see his evolution in game. You only get to see the creature he turns into as part of the slideshow of drawings... [/spoiler]
The game started off so great, and fell to such a big disappointment by the end.
I was a bit hesitant about this game, because the art seems a lot more "cutesy" than the usual stuff I like. Well, the actual game doesn't feel too overly cute or sweet, and it was a real pleasure to play through.
It's a nice light underwater philosophical visual novel. Navigating around the environments was a bit of a pain. But I loved the characters and the storytelling, and I hope these people keep making imaginative and ambitious games like this.

I don't usually review games but this game really surprised me with its story, characters and overall environment. I loved the creepy glitch atmosphere of the reverse world. I really recommend this game.
This is an absolutely amazing game! I love all the main NPCs and their personalities, the art style is so beautiful and all the colors just dazzle for every second they're on screen! The story felt engaging, I was always excited to see an ending, and even the NPCs that you only talk to one or two times had so much personality to them! Very re-playable and so much fun every time!

Mythic ocean is an absolute gem of a game! It's a delightful experience with lots of replay value - although the first ending I just got made me cry some happy tears so I will let that sink in before I set out on another cycle.
I think the length of a cycle is perfect - can be done in one afternoon and doesn't feel too short at all. The writing is fantastic, every character you meet feels real, after only three hours I was really attached to all of them. This was supported by beautiful animation, making the gods very expressive with their gestures and body language. The dialogue choices I was asked to make truly made me think about what I consider important, and I really appreciated that it was always possible to be empathetic, kind, and compassionate. There's no "black and white," no obvious right and wrong here. The game overall has a very positive, optimistic, and mostly lighthearted feel to it, even though the themes it deals with are very deep. I found myself laughing out loud several times (it's definitely a good idea to talk to ALL the creatures in this ocean!). The beautiful visuals & audio support this atmosphere in the best way. Moving through the water feels good, too. I experienced no bugs or other issues. Played on the deck which was absolutely fine (text is not too small).
Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend this game. I got it as part of a bundle but I wouldn't mind paying full price for this, it was just such a delight!

The library at the beginning was really nice, but otherwise the game does not interest.
This is a relaxing game with a great story and atmosphere. The choices matter a lot which gives it a lot of replay-ability, however it can get tedious so I have to space out how often I come back to this game. That said, I think it is worth the price because you can play a different story each time.

Lovely little game with an interesting premise.
This is a remarkably polished labor of love. So much care has been put into design, writing, story, and ideas. Even the gameplay, though simple, is done well. Controls are lovely and there's enough to do to keep the game from becoming too stale and repetitive within its short play length. Ultimately it is a game about ideas wrapped around dialog.
And though I enjoyed much about my time with the game, I must review it against its ambitions. It seems a lot of people really loved it, and you might, too, but I have to give it a thumbs down.
I don't think [I]Mythic Ocean[/I] knows what it wants to be. On the one hand it reaches for depth, but its ruminations about the meaning of life and our place in the universe(s) are almost insultingly simplistic. On the other hand, it intends to be lighthearted and fun, but the main characters are one-dimensional caricatures with convoluted backstories. I had more fun with the one-liners delivered by the side-characters than with the exhausting central conversations that determine which ending one gets.
Somehow all of this meticulously crafted content is supposed to add up to the possibilities and choices that stand before humanity in shaping its world, but it's a very paltry list and the ingredients are baffling. The gods seem to have been selected from a random number generator, not an integrated pantheon. And for the life of me I don't understand why the game takes place in the ocean. My guess is that the devs took lots of different ideas for different games and characters and shoehorned them into a single concept. To their credit, the result is coherent. But it fails to add up to any impactful meaning. I guess the message is something about balancing freedom with respect for nature? I'm not sure and honestly not very interested.
If you find the game's premise and design alluring, please don't let my negative review deter you. It shouldn't take more than 4 hours to complete the game, so you can find out for yourself if it reaches what it sets out to achieve. I don't regret playing it. I just didn't get much out of it

very pleasing ocean environments, and loved all of the opportunities to shape the characters and pick your ending. there was a good balance in forcing you to place trust in what you do not know and make a decision anyway and the opportunity to choose to gain even more insight into that! this was a surprisingly deep game and i'm very thrilled with the ending i received, especially reading about how it all could have gone so, so wrong lol. there seems to be a ton of replayability, but even if i never do this was a blast and i fully recommend to anyone looking for a very fun choice-based experience for a couple hours!!
Immersive story, beautiful graphics. All the regions with the fish, coral, kelp, everything is amazing. The characters too, I wanna play it again and go a different approach and again.
The term gets used a lot in the current times but i feel that this a genuinely underrated gem

Have you ever wanted to be Aquaman and talk to fish for 4 hours straight? That's not the real plot, but that's basically what you do. It's a swimming version of a walking simulator. Sounds boring, explained simply, but somehow the devs made a fantastic and interesting game from beginning to end. I wish I could stand and applaud them. It's basically a visual novel. 90% of your time, after the beginning, will be just talking to fish. But the characters in this game are so full of life and are never dull. No one prattles on for hours. Every conversation is meaningful and full of valuable context. It's been awhile since I've picked up a game that I couldn't put down and was completely drawn into the world, characters, and story - AND actually cared about what was going on! Quickly jumped to one of my all time favorites.

I don't think I understood who I had in the lead to be the god in charge until I got to the ending. That bit was probably on me though.
simple but kinda complex lots of trasporting back n forth but I got invested into characters. If it goes on sale pick it up. Its also on switch as well I feel like its better for controller users but its not too bad as keyboard. I've done multiple play throughs and they are pretty unique seriously pretty game for the graphics it has.
This game is amazing! Not only is the game itself well designed (The controls, graphics, etc. ) but the story line is amazing too! As an author, I can tell how much thought went into the dialog and such; everyone's personality is really well made, even the minor characters'! The only thing though... the grammar and punctuation has some... room for improvement. But I'm pretty sure nobody cares about that, hehe.
Overall, this is really just a sweet and wholesome game! And for those of you who are worried, this game is definitely very replayable! And every play-through is really different and fun!
Thumb up with caveats. I really appreciate the effort that went into making this game/narrative, but I feel the themes that are on display are treated just a bit too simplisticly. It makes this game perfect for young folks, but if you've delved into any of the subjects deeper than just seeing it referenced in modern literature/movies/games you'll notice it's a bit too simplified.
So heartily recommend this to anyone who is just starting out thinking about philosophy. I'm excited to see game devs diving (pun intended) into these heftier subjects.
amazing game overall. story is very interesting and intellectual, i like the bits of surrealness. the game has a somewhat complex concept but its very good at making you understand it. when it comes to controls it is surprisingly comfortable since its all happening underwater, a lot of games have issues with this. i played on a controller and it was really nice and smooth despite everything. music is fitting and has great atmosphere. the lovely art style and characters reminds me a lot (and assuming its inspired of) Zelda Wind Waker which is not a bad thing considering everything is still original and unique. its quite replayable for the multiple endings/outcomes and getting achievements as well as the game letting you fast forward dialogues.

A sweet and fun game, that did the consequences of your actions thing fairly well, I think. The dialogue choices were sometimes genuinely difficult to choose between, and the final outcome I got didn't just focus on how one god was thinking, which I appreciated - if you teach them to work together, they actually do. I've only done one playthrough of the cycle so far (at 4.3 hours), but I'll be doing it again and going for other versions.
The various areas each feel big enough to explore without quite getting big enough to get lost in, especially with your radar. It would have been nice if the little requests of the non-god critters carried more weight- at a certain point I felt like I was just tping between gods and ignoring the environment - but the gods are the focus of the game, so I get it.
Done all endings & got 100% achievements at 15.3 hours. Not a huge game, but clearly made with time and love. I may still revisit it occasionally to create unusual combinations of friends and enemies and see the worlds they make and transform.

After playing the prologue I was hooked. Nothing will ever be as special as my first play through....except maybe my second or third! Discovering some of the story beats and mysteries for the first time left me breathless, and immediately wanting to explore EVERYTHING. This game is beautiful from concept to design, if you like visual novels, exploration or just a good story then I would say this game is at least a must try.
A walking sim (swimming sim?) about exploring a peaceful ocean filled with fun dudes. Each of the gods is well-rounded with their own potential character arcs that are fun to explore. The lore is intriguing and some of the storylines are rather gripping. The general design of both the characters and settings are gorgeous. There's totally nothing eerie or spooky at adds to the plot and lore, its all 100% chill. And most importantly (to me, a marine biology nerd), there's lessons about conserving the ocean along the way. A charming little game!

Mythic Ocean is a story-focused game (no enemies or combat) where, in its simplest form, you speak with a cast of characters and make choices that impact them and the world around you.
I played through my first run pretty naturally and just did what I thought was right based on my own values and came out with a pretty satisfying ending. I don't replay games very often, but given that this was only about ~3hrs of playtime for one run, I could see myself experimenting in the world and trying some new things in the future.
I adored the characters and thought their dialogues and interactions were all very well written. The world and its characters are all very charming. It really helped to set a very light tone in what is otherwise a fairly thoughtful experience.
Making choices is at the core of the game and many of them are morally ambiguous. The game maintains its "light but thoughtful" tone throughout, however, which creates an interesting juxtaposition that you just don't see in other games.
Mythic Ocean is a weird, fun, and thoughtful game. It was a delight to play and I'd recommend you try it if you're in the mood to smoke pot with a loved one and talk about philosophy, because this feels like the video game version of that.
A beautiful game, with a tons of replay value. It's art style is incredibly charming, and the characters are fantastic and easy to attach yourself to. If you're a curious soul, or/and if you like tough moral decisions, this game is for you! I enjoyed it a bunch, and I'm looking forward to playing through more times.
This game is absolutely beautiful and immersive, you get attached to the characters and make decisions that can make or break friendships, and even the world you're making. The only flaw is you can't adopt The Twins or kiss Alethea, other than that 10/10
General Overview:
This game is.. genuinely amazing.
And hella underrated.
The immediate idea of the game on its own is intriguing and fun, and pulled me in immediately. The characters, and environments, the everything, are SO beautiful. They have fluid motion, breathtaking color palette use, and completely unique looks. The storyline is wonderful, I love the personalities of the gods, and I love the promise, at every different choice, of so many separate different endings. The music is enchanting, and the audio quality is nothing short of fantastic.
I have so many screenshots of this game, it's crazy, haha.
Characters:
Amar's design never fails to amuse me. I didn't notice his third eye at first, but when I did, it only added to my positive view on him. He's kind of adorable to be honest. Maybe a bit of a coward, but everyone is sometimes. Laid-back fun lovin' otter with four arms, what's not to like?
Lutra is the most intriguing, really. Their way of talking, the primal drive of hunger, even just the design. I loved them at first for the looks, and then as I got deeper into what made Lutra *Lutra*, it was somethin' else entirely. Also, their metamorphosis cocoon is cool as heck.
The twins, Esti and Ketri, are relatable, strangely. Two kids trying to make their own way in the world. They've put up a shield to protect from the world, and they're powerful, but they're still kids. Just kids. Those two are something almost real, in a way.
Alethea is definitely one of those kindly-but-kind-of-obsessed scientist types. It's funny how far her tech is along compared to the rest of the Ocean. Her design's lovely though, I like her.
Gnosis is scary. I'm not... freaked out, or disgusted, or anything, Gnosis is cool, but I find myself dreading when I need to see him, Gnosis sets this cold and strange feeling in me. It's like someone is behind me, even if they don't mean any harm. The fact that the screen overloads with light when scanning Gnosis is a neat touch, tells you really how powerful Gnosis is.
Game World:
As I said, each place is unique, and obviously made with love and care. The colors and ambiance are fabulous! And the models are seamless, no random spikes like so many other games. It's hard to believe it was a 3 person team making Mystic Ocean!
Most of the environments left me calm, or speechless, or excited. A large range of positivity. But one specific environment... The Breach. That place set me on edge. I was struck by the same scared feeling I get with Gnosis. It wasn't negative exactly but it was something. The glitching effects further out were insane... It would have been entertaining if the Breach part had taken longer, but also more freaky, so, pros and cons.
The NPCs who are not gods are so cool! I love the cute, funny, and sometimes just weird things they say. I love the wide range of critters put into the game, and the unique amount of them in each area. Fantastically done. Must say, all the NPCs in Lutra's cave were the strangest. But I love them nonetheless.
Alethea's workshop really stuck with me because it was unexpected to find in something like the ocean, and I adored the inter-activeness of it all. Knocking over blue-filled bottles and spinning chairs is fun!
Other:
There's really one other thing. The little illustrations that go along with some of the scenes. They're done amazingly, in a style that looks as if it was painted, and every single one makes me smile, they're so wonderful. They also show a new side to the characters, and that adds some extra depth.

I got the Lutra + Keep eating end… A little sad, for the twins and that universe, but also, I adore moths. So… Eat whatever, my precious fluffy demon moth children, I love you!

Finishing Up
Mythic Ocean is an incredible game. It has a genuinely entertaining storyline, BEAUTIFUL graphics, wonderful music and sound effects, and can really spark emotion in you. It sure did for me!! The prologue is wonderful for a try, but you only get a small taste of the effect Gnosis can have, and never experience the Breach, or Alethea's amazing workshop, or Lutra's deeper emotions, or a growing friendship with the Twins, or the fantastic illustrations they've put in. I could go on forever! The game is literally perfectly priced, you should certainly buy it.

Mythic Ocean is a relaxing and intriguing story with multiple ways how it can unfold, and many ways how it can end.
The gameplay is simple - some exploration and collecting things, but mostly it's dialogues with options that lead to branching paths of the story.
It's about 5-6 hours long, but has high replay value for anyone who wishes to see how thing would go if they chose a different path.
The visuals are pretty, the music is good. And overall it's been a very pleasant experience.
This was a beautiful game, with a great atmosphere. it was just very short and i guess to the point but still a fun pass the time game.
Lovely game! It can get grindy on replays but I still did a few rounds. I'd love to see them make more games like this.
