In Morphblade you move around a grid slicing, smashing and bursting waves of nasty red bugs. Each tile you move to transforms you into a different weapon: on a Blades hex you can slice enemies on either side of you, on an Arrow you can launch yourself through two enemies in a row.

Fun strategic time waster. There's no long term thread to keep me going deep into later levels, but I enjoy doing a few rounds on Steam Deck occasionally. (Using mouse emulation since it only requires clicks.)

I think the best way I can describe this game is "single player chess for gen Z". It's a complex, yet easy to pick up, strategy game. There are myriad combinations to exploit and it's incredibly fun to build your little nest where you lure the endless waves of bugs into your traps.

Great casual game to chill out with
Really fantastic game. Kills time between things quite nicely, and is sometimes a time sink when doing well. The game is a bit mesmerising in that you can zone in a lose track of time a bit. Good for getting out of your head for a minute here and there.
Only issue I have seen so far, and maybe its the way its built, is that it does not save your state between games, you have to leave it open. If you log out, or close out, while mid-game, when you reboot it is a new game. Which kind of sucks, especially the first time you close it down while doing well and think you can come back to it. Once you know you can't, you deal with it, but its still annoying and unnecessary since it shouldn't be too much effort to just save state.

Basically the platonic ideal of the mobile phone game you play a round of when you have a few spare minutes and want to tickle your brain.
Fun little game. Not that deep, but a good way to keep your hands and brain busy if you have a few minutes to kill or are in a really boring meeting.

Morphblade is a neat little game! I'm surprised it's a desktop game, honestly - its tight design, minimal aesthetic, and pick-up-and-play nature makes it feel more designed for portable play. Still, it's a nice 15-minute palate-cleanser. I've been going between a 6 and a 7 on it, but I think more games could stand to be this aerodynamic.

it's fun for playing in short bursts now and again, but, i'm not sure if i'd recommend it for anything beyond that. for what it is, it's still cool, though.
Surprisingly addictive little strategy game. If you're a fan of Into the Breach, this will feel somewhat familiar as the game loop is quite similar.
You start on a tiny hexagonal map that expands as you progress through the game. Every tile changes what abilities you have and sometimes can also affect enemies. Every "level", i.e. every enemy wave starts with enemy spawn locations being shown to you. You must neutralise all of them in order to progress further, after which you get a chance to upgrade certain tiles of the map based on the number of enemy kills. Normally a tile starts with just one ability, but each time you upgrade it, you can choose an ability granted by one of the surrounding tiles. Because this can often lead to extremely powerful combos, you must actually think which tiles you want to expand into, as the game randomly generates which abilities the new tiles will have.
I love the very minimalistic, but extremely user-friendly interface, the sounds are quite satisfying, and you can also just play it for 30..60 minutes and close it when you feel that you're done for today. Actually, who am I fooling, you can easily sink 2..3 hours into it because of that "just one more turn" feeling.. But hey, I did start this review by saying it's addictive, so don't tell me I didn't warn you! :D
The only thing I feel it's missing is the ability to check the attack order of the enemies. There's an ability that kills the first enemy that attacks you, but there's no way to know which one it will be. And if that enemy happens to be an explosive one.. well, you'll regret picking up that "upgrade"

Very fun little game, You can definitely get really good at this and last VERY long, but I really wish they made it more obvious how you can right-click on tiles to see their current and potential abilities.
For the longest time I thought you could ONLY see the abilities while you were choosing new tiles or upgrading, and it was VERY hard to plan, and I had to try and make paper lists of the abilities - later on I discovered you could right-click to remind you what the abilities are.

I highly recommend this game! It's based on an interesting game concept, seems fairly repayable, and was cheap (I believe I got it in a bundle for ~$1 less than buying the 2 other games separately, so I think it was essentially free).

I was sick and I much preferred a simple puzzle game like this over braindead scrolling. If you're looking at the reviews to check if it's worth buying, it's worth buying. It's like three bucks. Who are you, Scrooge McDuck?

본체가 사라져서 능력을 유지할 수 없는 그런 느낌?
가끔 웨이브 클리어 후 비어있는 타일이 등장하기도 합니다.
원래는 랜덤한 능력이 생성되지만 비어있는 타일에는 자기가 원하는 타일을 생성할 수 있죠.
아쉬운 점

В текущем виде (вышла она давно, так что обновлений уже ждать не стоит) не вижу мотивации играться в неё, ведь нет смысла ставить рекорды, а сам геймплей излишне простоват. И вот в таком "недопиленном" состоянии её продают за 129 рубасиков...
I tried, I really tried to enjoy this game but it just felt repetitive and got boring fast. I feel that maybe the game or genre is not for me but whatever it is I could not get in to Morphblade enough to enjoy it. The game play that I did experience was solid, and consistent, just lacking in enjoyment.

A very simple puzzle game that would greatly benefit from being packaged as a mobile game instead. Not my cup of tea but I don't think it's a bad game at all. Would rate neutral if I could.

Tricky
While this does not look like an overly complex game, you learn very quickly that you need a strategic mind.
Not only do the tiles spawn with one of six (1 of 6) special attributes, but the tiles also level up with kills earned whilst on them to a total of six times, allowing the individual attributes of the adjoining tiles to give their ability.
The varying opponents with both their individual abilities and any potential armour does not allow for the stereotypical cookie cutting loop strategy that most of the same type of games carry.
Most definitely recommended for any collection, simple enough yet challenging to no end.

It's a fine game but I have a hard time ever desiring to play it— if I want a short puzzle game, I'll go to minesweeper or sudoku. This is well designed, but there's not really anything it does exceptionally and it doesn't incentivize returning. Some achievements or a leaderboard would be nice.

A surprisingly deep and strategic game, and yet very transparent. Like Chess, the rules are simple, yet mastering it is far from easy. Each choice has benefits and opportunity cost, driving the player toward one strategy or another as a result, and the strategies are self-reinforcing. Engrossing!

[b]morphblade[/b] is an endless/random grid- and turn-based tactical puzzler that offers hex and violence in spades.
you're the titular blade that morphs into all sorts of other things capable of killing giant bugs. or not, in which case they'll get pushed or you die. there are 6 tile types (plus blanks that can become anything) and they can be improved with 6 upgrades to be even more useful once enough bugs die on them. besides weapons there's teleport, repair, etc. and upgrades are stackable, so it's possible to create seriously overpowered hexes for some lovely ultraviolence against the waves of enemies. unless you keep pushing them off, in which case hexes don't get upgraded.
controls are mouse-only: left click to move, click on yourself to wait, tooltips for available tiles on mouseover, or right click on already active hexes and enemies for more info. these are all explained in-game in an amusing fashion, as expected from the developer of the excellent [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/206190/]gunpoint[/url]. as for hotkeys, esc opens/closes the menu, 'l' toggles the event log, arrows scroll it (and do nothing else). the log covers everything on the left, looks ugly, but also shows tile names and their levels, which should've been a separate toggle, I think.
settings only include a single volume slider (no music, so it's fine) and a windowed mode toggle for a resizable window. since presentation is as minimalistic as it gets, these are enough to satisfy basic needs.
it's a [b]basic but fun time-killer[/b], but with [b]only a single game mode without real goals or campaign[/b] or anything, it's gonna wear out its welcome sooner rather than later. [b]the 5 eur asking price is way too high, but might be worth it on sale[/b] if you're into this sort of thing.

Jolly good fun for a few hours. Very like an abstract boardgame such as Hive. I got this included as part of a Humble Bundle, but it'd be worth getting for a couple of quid if you like this sort of thing.

An entertaining puzzle game that takes heavy inspiration from the board game "Hive" (a game I also recommend and can be found on here on Steam).
This is also a board game at heart; the action is turn-based, so logic and planning are the keys to victory.
Like Hive, the board starts out with just a few spaces. The more rounds you play, the more spaces are added. Each type of space tile has its own special abilities which help you kill or evade enemies. These tiles can also be upgraded. Those upgrades will quickly become critical, as the easy enemy configurations early on gives way to some diabolical formations later on.
The game seems very simple at first, but this simplicity is deceptive. Within an hour of play, numerous new avenues of strategy become apparent, and adaptation becomes essential.
This is a great way to exercise your brain while surreptitiously killing time in the office. Highly recommended.

Play two games, and it is tricky, but I can see this game as being quite addictive.
The core mechanic is that your morph into one of several types of units based on the hex you are on.
Monsters pop up, and if they hit you, you take damage, and as near as I can tell you only have two health! Healing hexes seem pretty common though, if you can get to one.
When you kill a monster, you get to add a hex to your grid, allowing you to choose (to a certain degree) what kind of hex you want to add to the playing field.
It has not come up, but I get the impression there is a max number of hexes though. Not sure what happens, if anything, when you have activated them all.
Hexes can get upgrades (not one hundred percent sure how. The tutorial implies it gets them by doing damage, but hexes that don't do damage can get upgraded too.) The type of upgrade a hex can get is based on which type of hexes are next to it.
All it all it makes for a fun, thought provoking game.
Graphics are basic, the mouse controls everything, and I didn't have any sound, not sure why.
An easy recommendation though, a new game concept, well put together and implemented. I got it on a good sale (I'm poor) and at a buck and a half it is easily two thumbs up from me.
ADDENDUM: About two hours in, and it is more fun and more interesting all the time.
Easy to play, difficult to master. I'm a bit over 200 hours in, this is my go-to game for when I want to listen to an audiobook or watch Twitch, YouTube, Netflix, etc.
