Mighty Goose is an Action Run 'n Gun where you play as the Mighty Goose on a mission to save the universe from the rule of the Void King!!

The game consists of multiple linear stages filled with enemies trying to swarm you from each side of the screen, and you have just 1 job, Let Goose Run Loose!! You will meet NPCs during your journey will join you as a secondary assistance that can accompany you during your missions. Wide variety of skills that you can choose from to match your playstyle.

There is a lovey inspiration which you will notice immediately if you're a big fan of the metal slug games, from the voice narration when you pick up weapons to gun mechanics and vehicles that you can ride and destroy your enemies.

The music and OST is top notch, it got that synth metal and the amazing thing that it was composed by the same person who did the music for Moonrider and Blazing Chrome.

The boss fights were fun and challenging only if you get overwhelmed, some of them went down quickly and some proved a challenge, but overall I loved every single one of them.

This is recommended if you love metal slug games or Run 'n Gun genre in general.

Zany and off-the-wall humour abounds in this game, with a gameplay reminiscent of the Metal Slug series by SNK. You’ll see the gun system, and ability to board vehicles like tanks, is very intuitive and familiar. But the game goes further with novel innovations, such as the ability to aid your lift/slow descent of falls by shooting your cannon downwards. There are some interesting and novel mechanics, including companion animals to assist you in your quest.

While the game would appeal to players of any age, those who remember the Metal Slug era will particularly enjoy this game. Runs perfect on the Steam Deck with smooth graphics.

fun game. easy to play, good graphics, awesome love letter to metal slug. worth the experience.
my only complains is that some things get annoying. chonky calling you all the time, it's possible to die when you defeat a boss and replay them, and the checkpoints are subtle so you don't know where you'll respawn.

I fell instantly in love with the image of a goose riding a Lagann-style mini mecha under the tagline LET LOOSE THE GOOSE. And the first impression hasn't been betrayed, even in front of the game's imperfections.

It doesn't even try to to hide the Metal Slug inspiration, especially in the tanks and the voice clips when a weapon is collected. After a slow introductory level, it picks up the pace and offers quite a few setpieces, like the chase of a convoy in a Mad Max-esque setting, culminating with the fight against a big gas guzzler. Levels are mostly linear, with just a few detours to find vehicles, and a couple hidden extra companions.

It's really great to look at, like out from a beefed up Super Nintendo, and even better to hear with its energic soundtrack. The protagonist manages to be ridiculous and badass at once. I've taken notice of some uses of tweening along with traditional pixel art animations, and of certain effects (more on that later).

Only four weapons but there's not just that arsenal for the heroic waterfowl: a roll with several invincibility frames, usable even when jumping (and outright necessary in a few passages), companions including one that gives machine gun pickups, vehicles, the Mighty Mode, the chips that lend themselves to simple yet interesting "builds" as no more than two or three at a time can be used. By pausing the game, you can access a shop to spend collected coins at, for quick deliveries of weapons or a vehicle.

In fact, the goose is quite overpowered, in front of a challenge that is not proportioned to its might; during the supposedly harder second loop, I even got more A and S ranks than during the first, as I was well into the gameplay loop by that point. As coins aren't kept between levels, it's hard to resist spending them to receive a couple rocket launchers and destroy bosses, and a chip allows a double jump that further facilitates combat in more open spaces. After defeating the final boss once again at the end of the second loop, a special chip is unlocked and it's revealed to be a built-in cheat mode!

There's also the matter of the visual effects. Even from the trailer, you can notice how excessively slow motion (sometimes triggered not even by some "exceptional" feats), flashes and screen shaking are used at times, which can make the most crowded situations very confusing. Fortunately, aware of feedback, the developers added options to disable the above effects, and made projectiles more visible; even so, a few other effects remains, like strong distortions when rockets explode, but it's something.

Of notice is a special level added months after the original release, unlocked after finishing the first loop. It's got a "biome" different from the others, is fairly long and varied, and quite fun, especially the part where the goose rides a wave while confronting a surfer crocodile.

Mighty Goose is not "hardcore gamer" material, and has certainly some amount of jank, but at the end of the day, I've had a great time with it and not all games need to be Hollow Knight difficult. Shooting downward to hover and rain bullets on enemies is a very fun maneuver, and I've found myself revisiting levels even after 100% completion, just for to enjoyment of it. Not an "essential" game for fans of the genre but one I'd certainly recommend, especially with the discount it goes with at the time of this writing.

Eu tenho um amor por esse jogo, desde o primeiro trailer! EU super recomendaria ele duas vezes se deixassem kkkk Mesmo com todos os pontos ruins, acerta naquela nostalgia específica de quando jogo de ação era direto ao ponto: movimentação rápida, desafio honesto e recompensa imediata. É tipo revisitar os clássicos de run-and-gun (vulgo Metal Slug), mas com aquele polimento moderno que deixa tudo mais fluido e gostoso de jogar. Great addition to the Run & Gun gaming catalogue. It is a really fun game from the start. The pixel graphics look awesome, and the colours are so vibrant. The character controls really well, and it does give you the ability to rebind the controls. The different bullet-types are super powerful and fun to use. I played thru the whole game as well as completed all the levels again in New Game + mode. It is a little on the short side, but such is the case with games in the Run & Gun genre. They did add a new extra long level with a new boss after you beat the main game. I played the whole game on my Steam Deck and it works great! Looking forward to future games by this developer!

Ponerse a los mandos de Mighty Goose es, ante todo, un ejercicio de memoria muscular que te devuelve de golpe a la silla de plástico de un salón recreativo de 1996. Hay algo profundamente directo en la forma en que el juego de Blastmode entiende la acción: no se trata solo de disparar a cosas, sino de la coreografía de la destrucción que sucede entre el botón y el sprite. Es el lenguaje de Nazca Corporation —aquellos magos que definieron el género con Metal Slug— pasado por un filtro de alta fidelidad; un pixel art que no se limita a ser "retro", sino que se siente vivo, gordo y vibrante. Cada vez que apretamos el gatillo, el juego responde con una contundencia metálica, una sacudida visual que traduce el impacto de la metralla en una sensación de poder casi táctil.

Esa potencia visual se apoya en un trabajo de pura artesanía que va mucho más allá del simple homenaje. Es uno de los mejores pixel art que he visto en el último lustro, no por resolución, sino por intención: el modo en que los tanques se deforman, el humo denso que dejan las granadas y esa paleta de colores chillona y orgullosa que grita "arcade" en cada píxel. Acompañando a esta bacanal de dibujos hechos a mano, la banda sonora de Dominic Ninmark se mete en el cuerpo como una descarga de sintetizadores y guitarras funk-metal. Es una música que entiende su papel: no busca la sutilidad, sino empujarte al frente, marcando el tempo de cada ráfaga con un ritmo que te hace mover la cabeza mientras esquivas una lluvia de plomo.

El tacto del mando es una delicia de inmediatez. El ganso no se mueve, se desplaza con una inercia mecánica que te obliga a jugar hacia adelante, siempre buscando el siguiente estímulo. Es puro horror vacui de proyectiles y metal retorcido donde el humor —ese ganso imperturbable en medio del apocalipsis— actúa como el pegamento que une un sistema de combate frenético. Es cierto que, por momentos, la legibilidad se sacrifica en el altar del espectáculo; hay situaciones donde la pantalla es un magma de partículas tan denso que la precisión quirúrgica de los clásicos se pierde en favor del caos absoluto. Es un diseño que prefiere que sientas el impacto a que lo calcules con frialdad milimétrica.

Sin embargo, esa misma intensidad es la que dicta su sentencia: el juego se acaba justo cuando le has cogido el gusto al gatillo. Es breve como una moneda de cinco duros bien aprovechada, un suspiro de adrenalina que te deja con hambre. Podríamos pedirle más niveles o una estructura más compleja, pero eso sería malinterpretar su naturaleza. Mighty Goose no ha venido a hacernos perder el tiempo, sino a concentrarlo. Es una ráfaga de placer estético y sonoro que prefiere arder rápido antes que languidecer en la repetición. Me ha dejado con una sonrisa de oreja a oreja y el dedo índice pidiendo clemencia; una pequeña joya que entiende perfectamente que, a veces, lo único que necesitamos es un buen estruendo y un control que responda a la velocidad del pensamiento.

[spoiler]如果对暴走大鹅这款游戏打分的话，个人预计在七点五分左右，价格就不多说了，购买肯定是史低时候购买。主要是操作，这操作对我们这些习惯键鼠的玩家来说完全是灾难，太过于反人类了，改成习惯性的（WASD）则会发生方向键的键位冲突，导致游戏局内局外要来回改！！然后引导为零，全靠玩家自己摸索！

玩过并喜欢合金弹头，那对暴走大鹅这款游戏相信也会特别喜欢！本作是和其一样带有复古像素街机风的一款以射击动作玩法为主的游戏，主角是一只精通各种枪械的大鹅，并且伴随各种技能技巧，为消灭邪恶远赴宇宙星空，在遇到最后的boss前还会遇到各种富有特色的精英怪，最后通过装备及助手的帮助再加上玩家的反应从而取得胜利。

游戏由PLAYISM在2021年发行，不过游戏质量放在如今亦属上乘，虽然游戏键位些许反人类，不过改键可以很大程度提升游戏体验。游戏叫做暴走大鹅，在玩法上也很贴切的告诉我们为何叫这个名字，杀完敌人之后可以涨怒气值，当怒气值涨满就可以进入暴走状态，虽然游戏没有明说暴走状态可以带来什么增益，但当大鹅全身冒火状态，那种强大将直入人心——爆炸输出带来的则是满满安全感。

作为一款动作射击游戏，本作的枪械提供确实称得上丰富，虽然在游戏一开始只有步枪可以使用，但是每到一个点，系统就会提供箱子，从中则可以开出新枪械：冲锋枪，霰弹枪，电击枪等等，随着游戏的推进，获得的将会更加丰富。
当然枪械还可以用金币购买获得，在战斗中玩家击败敌人可以获得金币，金币又可以通过ESC呼出的商店里进行消费从而提升自己。

玩家每次通过章节，就可以习得新技能强化自身，强化方面多样，除了第一章的略显鸡肋外，其他还是可以考虑的。移速快在眼花缭乱的弹潮真没啥用。

对了本作支持双人游戏，不过并不是我们想的二鹅比天高，而是以一只大鹅，一只伙伴的形式进行双人游戏，值得一提的是伙伴没有血条限制，这代表什么懂得都懂。
如果是单人游玩的话，伙伴则由电脑控制，每个伙伴都有不同的作用，目前来说比较推荐第一章的老头，它可以不定时的为我们提供强大的子弹，也就是提升我们的输出，这点的帮助对笔者来说真的大！

Ótimo run 'n' gun muito inspirado por Metal Slug, mas é uma interpretação mais moderna daquele estilo de jogo. Não tem sistema de vidas, se você morrer volta pro último checkpoint, e além de um botão de esquiva você tem um monte de habilidades pra escolher antes de cada missão e uma loja pra acessar a qualquer momento das fases pra deixar as coisas mais tranquilas. Algumas partes parecem meio apressadas, e é comparativamente um jogo bem mais fácil do que o resto do gênero, mas ainda é muito gostoso de jogar. Se você é fã de run 'n' gun, Metal Slug, Contra, Cuphead e similares, ou está procurando por um "ponto de entrada" do gênero, Mighty Goose é uma bela pedida.

Great run 'n' gun with a lot of Metal Slug in its DNA, but a more modern interpretation of that style of game. There are no lives, and if you die you go back to the last checkpoint in the stage, and you have a dodge button and a bunch of abilities and a store you can access at any time to make your journey more comfortable. It does feel a tad rushed here and there, and it's a much easier game comparatively to the genre, but it is still massively fun. If you're a fan of this style of game or you're looking for an entry point, Mighty Goose will be a treat.

Mighty Goose é o que Metal Slug poderia ter se tornado caso a franquia tivesse continuado a evoluir. É um run and gun que respeita as raízes, mas adiciona novas mecânicas e um ritmo mais acelerado, funcionando muito bem nos dias atuais.

Seu principal atrativo é sua jogabilidade 2D dinâmica, habilidades especiais e companheiros que ajudam durante a jornada. Tudo é rápido, explosivo e divertido. O jogo é visualmente carismático afinal você é um ganso mercenário que dispõe de diversas armas e maquinários. Além da trilha sonora ser bacaninha.

Mighty Goose não tenta reinventar o gênero, mas executa sua proposta com competência e personalidade, sendo uma ótima pedida para fãs de ação arcade clássica.

오랜만에 재미난 런앤건 게임을 찾은 거 같다.

분명 메탈슬러그를 많이 오마주한 거 같지만 록맨 같은 유틸 요소가 더 많이 반영된 게 조금 아쉬운 정도? 그래도 록맨처럼 조잡하고 불쾌한 게임성이 보이지 않아 전체적으로 적절히 잘 구성했다고 생각한다.

정보를 더 찾아보니 후속작을 준비하고 있다고 하던데 빠른 시일 내 봤으면 하는 바람이다.

Mighty Goose is a fun little Run-N-Gun side scrolling game that has it's funny little moments, great action, tricky combat, and overall fun. There is just enough challenge that I am stuggling to get S rank on every mission. That being said, this is not worth the $20. Get this on sale, have a blast then put it back on the catalog of completed games.

I want to like this so bad, but the visual clutter it has makes playing this so much harder than it needs to be.

There's bits of issues that pop up throughout, like the partner design (the first unlockable partner feels far and away your best) and unfortunate bugs blocking me from experimenting much with the Armory system. Underneath all of this still has the feeling of a solid run-and-gun.

There's tons of other nitpicks that I could go on about but what ultimately makes this less than stellar for me is enemy bullets being tough to parse in chaotic firefights. It's a toss up sometimes whether this is a huge issue for me with shooters in general, but I don't feel like this one got it 100% right. I would still say that if you find it on sale, it's worth trying. It's not the knock out of the park I was hoping it'd be though.

Run n gun inspirado mas en metal slug mas que(contra u otro) viene a buscar un poco ser parodia de esto con un ganzo(chiste para youtubers europeos que se yo) de por medio con un pixelart de estilo muy infantil, la musica es casi una copia directa de metal slug en algunas partes y en otras como un synth pop talvez?(bueno la musica si esta bastante buena), luego tiene pocas armas la ametralladora, la escopeta, un tipo lazer electrico(?), y el lanzacohetes que es una reverenda poronga (tenes un enemigo enfrente y se va para cualquier lado), no tiene la granadas pero reemplaza esto por habilidades que se recargan con el tiempo y se desbloquean avanzando en el juego aunque se lo tienes que asignar desde la armeria porque el boton solo te servira para graznar tonces, tienes el agregado de reescatar prisioneros especificos en misiones que luego puedes asignarlos en la armeria para que te ayuden en otras misiones, el cooperativo es masomenos porque solo da a controlar el acompañante del ganzo y esto te va limitar un monton la jugabilidad, cuando terminas la campaña se desbloquea una mision acuatica y un portal que es como un new game+ practicamente los mismo niveles pero con mas enemigos para subir un poco la dificultad, hay unas cuantas cosas que no me gustan como el apuntado depende de ciertas armas como cuando dispara con la escopeta agachado usa la pistola, o el submarino/avion solo apunta a una direccion, el efecto de sacudir la pantalla se intesifica con la destruccion haciendo que aveces que la convinacion de las cosas no puedas ver un carajo con lo que esta pasando a eso sumale el parpadeo de los bichos cuando se mueren y estos la mayoria cuando mueren solo dan vuelta por la pantalla, en fin igual lo recomiendo pero el trailer se veia mejor de lo que en realidad era

Y si llega haber una sequela quisiera menos texto de esos bichos insoportables, mas armas, mejoras en el apuntado, y animaciones cuando mueren

It's a mostly alright Run 'n' Gun shooter, but it fails to capture what made Metal Slug, the game they're taking direct inspiration from, so fun and memorable. I mean it looks the part with it's fantastic pixel presentation, maybe even better with all the added effects, slow motion and what not. But the moment to moment gameplay is a resounding meh. I feel like that's partly due to how badly paced it is, like there's always a pause where you wait for the next wave of enemies to slowly make their way towards you or you get to move forward and that kinda kills the vibe for me. I also feel the level designs are boring and the soundtrack just did not do it for me. There's a ranking system, New Game plus and a bonus level so a little more meat on the bones but yeah, this game is just okay I guess. Recommend getting it on sale.

整体质量中等的低配版合金弹头
不知道什么时候发售的黑杰克的代餐
扮演呆萌的赏金猎鹅在星系间惩奸除恶
史低21说实话还是有点不值
总共12关加11关困难难度游戏时长应该不超过8小时
特意为了当合金弹头玩没啥必要
建议看看以后会不会进HB F站的游戏包把

然后游戏性上感觉虽然也很爽，但手感方面有点怪
没有合金弹头的命中反馈，枪声感觉也有点像放屁非常闷
视觉上也感觉没合金弹头清爽，看起来很杂乱，经常分不清敌人弹幕
游戏获取弹药的机制也与合金弹头不同是通过击杀对方和破坏箱子获取的
这也导致相当多的时间玩家得用十分疲软的小手枪度过，而且你没有手榴弹
就感觉没有救老头的合金弹头那样合理的补给点位，你虽然可以用道具手榴弹
但我就没感觉这个大鹅炸弹有啥反馈而且上限3颗用完进入CD
所以面对装甲单位时还是得看新机制滞空来规避地面伤害
顺便一提掉落伤害是必死的

然后是优点
优点是载具很多，而且非常致敬合金弹头的钢铁蛞蝓（非常难操控）
甚至还有螺岩，有类似洛克人11的各种强化（但消耗容量而且容量无法扩充上限）
还有能过载武器并且大幅减少命中判定的暴走模式（就是存暴走条比较费劲而且消耗很快）
有很多同伴（总觉得最好用的还是送弹药的猪仔），还有4格生命
不至于让你像合金弹头一样无伤通关，而且医疗包给的很多拾取直接满血
除此之外还有一堆小道具可以使用，小道具无需购买无限使用，但进图有CD
然后你可能注意到了游戏内击杀敌人会掉落金币，你可能会下意识以为这是加分的
实际上这玩意是有用的，你可以按ESC打开手机面板，然后消耗金币快递载具和弹药
而且不要想着省，这游戏不是塔科夫或者三角洲，余下的金币你是带不走的
对了，开始游戏前记得按2下 ↓ 在设置里把连发打开，不然有点废手和键盘

우주의 현상금사냥꾼인 거위가 주인공인 액션게임입니다. 여러 탈것과 무기들로 몰려드는 적들을 해치우며 전진하는 재미가 좋았습니다. 스토리도 단순하게 나쁜놈 있으니 잡으러 가자라서, 그냥 보이는 적들과 보스를 때려잡으면 되는 마음 편히 시작할 수 있는 게임이었습니다.
플레이시간이 좀 짧은 편인데, 스테이지가 좀 더 길거나 수가 많았으면 하게 되는 점은 아쉬웠습니다. 그리고 근래에 드문 4방향 사격인 점도 조금 불편했구요.

체력시스템이고 회피기능이나 무적변신까지 있어서 적들이 가차없이 사방에서 몰려드는데다 여기저기 파편이 튀고 폭발효과도 잔뜩이라 플레이 화면이 상당히 정신없는데, 처음엔 시인성이 안 좋아 싫었지만 익숙해지니 그런 난장판이 꽤나 통쾌한 느낌이었습니다. 다만 중간중간 슬로우모션 들어가는 건 그 기준을 모르겠어서 좀 거슬렸는데, 거대한 적을 격파하거나 한번에 여럿 해치우는 게 기준일 법한데, 실제로는 꽤나 뜬금없이 슬로우모션이 튀어나옵니다.

난이도는 쉬운 편으로, 적들 공격이 꽤나 매섭지만 보조공격을 해주는 동료를 데리고 다닐 수 있고 주인공의 업그레이드 성능도 상당히 좋아서 최종보스 외에는 조금 싱겁다 느껴지는 난이도였습니다. 특히 초반에 열리는 공구르기 기능이 지나치게 고성능인데, 아무리 공격이 쏟아져도 대충 점프해서 구르기로 퉁퉁 튕겨다니면 다 피해지니 쓰면서도 이게 이렇게 되는 게 맞나 싶었네요.

쉬운 난이도로 몰려드는 적들에 총질하며 가볍게 즐기기 좋은 액션게임이었습니다.

Минусы:
- Экран переполнен визуальным мусором. Пули, монетки, ошметки, взрывы, всё одним цветом. Туда еще дым и всякие эффекты типа хроматической аберрации. Даже вырубив всё в опциях, приятнее играть не стало.
- Не очевидно, убьет ли тебя столкновение с врагом или нет. Некоторые коллизии наносят урон, некоторые нет, приходится запоминать.
- Не понятно, когда сработает рукопашка, а когда нет. Одних врагов персонаж бьёт, других нет, сиди, гадай. За турелькой сидит враг, кажется можно прыгнуть на него и дать по шапке, а нет, нельзя, приходится запоминать.
- Кривой хитбокс. Порой отчетливо видно, что спред например спред от шотгана не пересекается с персонажем, а урон получен.
- Технику дают, но она не давит врагов, а просто проезжает сквозь них.
- Пикапы нестабильные, не понятно как это вообще работает, то ничего не выпадает, то выпадает сразу четыре аптечки.
- На некоторых уровнях порой несколько экранов подряд пустые, просто бежишь.

В целом игра не такая уж плохая, но очень плохо даёт понять, что будет и почему впухаешь.

游戏仿的是《合金弹头》，不过也有点自己的东西，比如自由搭配技能、可选道具、可选同伴，还可以放大招。游戏流程不算长，带附加关卡就十关，附加关算三个小关合并，快的话一个下午通关。游戏有一定难度，不过玩家死多了，难度也会有所降低，物品掉落率会相应增加。
关于本地合作，游戏实际上并没有专门去做，2P只能去操纵同伴，逻辑就和单人游玩一样没有任何变化，且同伴有好几个都是氛围组。2P操纵的同伴和单人模式一样无敌的，不能跳上太高的地形，只能靠1P拉到高处，输出乏力，没什么存在感。这游戏双人体验不佳。

评分：7/10。用来消遣一下还是挺不错的。

It's a fun Metal Slug indie and my lil brother loves it, wished there's a god mode cheat code since my brother has autism and tends to mash buttons and dies all the time in-game it's a bit sad that he cant clear some difficult levels with bosses. Would be fun if the P2 is another goose with blue colour instead of using the companions that barely helps.

Some thoughts from me after finishing New Game+:
1. I personally love this game as it scratches my ‘Metal Slug itch’.
2. I freaking love the soundtracks, especially at the temple which has a vibe of JRPGs.
3. I love some of the anime and other game references like Gurren Lagann power armor in the Mining area, Medabots partner, and that shout out to Rockman/Megaman for our charged attack skill.

Personal nitpicks:
1. Too little weapon option to use (only 4 options, and the most of the drops are Machine Gun and Shotgun).
2. Planes and Submarines can only shoot forward.
3. We can only buy Bikes for vehicles. I understand that Planes and Submarines are ‘plot related’, but I wish we could get Tanks too as another buyable variant.
4. We cannot buy Healing items. I wish we could buy one. I don’t mind if the devs make it kinda pricey in the shop, as long as we can still buy it sometime later.
5. When we do snorkeling, B (Joypad) or Z (Keypad) Button is useless. I wish it would do something like dashing or at least something funny.
6. Sidekicks do nothing when they hitch our ride. I wish they would at least still shoot/hit some enemies.
7. The Island/Water Planet doesn’t exist in Mirror World (New Game+). I wish it would exists there too.

This is basically a Metal Slug / Contra like game, and thank God it doesn't have that twin stick bulls**t or controlled horizontal aiming. That alone makes it infinitely better than 90% of the dogs**t devs churn out these days. Finally, a game that respects your trigger finger and doesn't try to make you into some kind of joystick wizard.

It's pure unadulterated autism on screen, you just go brrrrr like a real arcade chad, all gas no brakes, screen shaking chaos, pixel art so juicy it makes my d**k hard, clearly ripping off Metal Slug's aesthetic in the best way possible, doesn't quite hit the same level of art direction as the peak MS games, but you can feel them trying, and that effort is appreciated. This s**t feels like smashing quarters in a p*ss smelling arcade in the 90s, before everything went to s**t. It's short, but every minute is pure dopamine. No filler, no padded bulls**t, just straight up action.

Now, for the niggly bits and yeah, this is just my autistic take, soundtrack's kinda meh, doesn't quite match the sensory overload on screen. It's passable, but it's not gonna get your blood pumping like it should, enemy variety is a bit weak, felt like I was shooting the same goons on repeat, and then some unique ones just show up for one level and disappear. It's not bad, but you definitely notice them overusing a few archetypes. And yeah, it's a bit on the easier side, not baby mode, but definitely not a throw your controller at the wall challenge.

Despite those minor gripes, this is a solid game

Initially I had some issues with this game to the point I refunded it and left a bad review. But after doing some reading, changing some things and "getting gud" decided to give it another shot and it went well.

Now, here what the newcomer should know off the bat, but is not mentioned:
- In the settings you can turn off the excessive visual effects
- Basically all projectiles can be destroyed by shooting
- If you have enough money, then at any point during a run you can request any type of weapon or vehicle to be delivered

And keep in mind dodging allows you to completely bypass damage and attacks.

Now onto the game itself.
In terms of style and presentation its pretty great. Graphics may feel a bit too pixelated and the soundtrack a bit limited and repetitive, but they are still nice.
The story, while comical, is somewhat too simple. Youre a mercenary goose fighting bad guys. It doesnt really do much with narrative or character progression and I feel its a wasted opportunity, but all in all its fine.

In terms of gameplay this is pretty much a Metal Slug clone. You have a standard weapon, but can collect different ones during a mission, as well as use different vehicles. You have a health bar and can refill it with health packs. Most stages have bosses. While going through the campaign you unlock various upgrades, special skills, companions.
You also get a ranking for each level.
Sounds fine, but is undermined by the following:
- The screen close up doesnt leave much space for intricate level design, which makes many encounters feel identical.
- The camera is often free flowing when you traverse, but locked onto segments when youre in combat. You can sometimes navigate these segments during combat, but it feels disjointed.
- Level design sometimes has some nice ideas, but often feels overly simple.
- There can be a lot of visual clutter on screen to the point you are not sure where you are or whats going on, thats why its advisable to turn all extras off.
- Movement can sometimes feel stiff and cumbersome, especially when using vehicles.
- Balancing can feel very wonky, especially with the scorpion car boss. Drops, especially for health, can be very random.
- And a host of other small nit picks.

Also, if you dont mess around too much you can beat the campaign in 3 hours. Then its just new game plus after that and improving your ranking on each level.

The highlight of the game is its style, the story is almost placeholder and the gameplay isnt very long, refined or deep, but ultimately still satisfying.
