Amazing game and really deserves to be played by more people. It is very chilled out, the animation is just nice and cozy. The upgrades and buildings are worth pursuing and you get a solid sense of progression from them. The tutorial does a reasonably good job of getting you started and most of the buildings and functions are quite intuitive to understand.
A minor complaint is how long it takes to develop knowledge but in the grand scheme of things this is clearly a game where you are meant to take your time and enjoy growing your village little by little. The game, at the relatively early stage I’m at in the game, is not very difficult. If you are looking for a deep survival challenge, I don’t think you will find it here although the game makes up for it in sheer charm.
This game is a solid 8/10 in its EA state. I think as it gets more updates it will definitely get better but even as it stands I’m happy to consider it a complete game.
really fun and engaging game, one of those games you just want to keep playing for hours on end without noticing the time passing
great game when you just wanna zone. I always end up killing my town so I stopped playing. I am not strategic enough and don't think far enough in advanced to plan for the disasters that come with over population, over hunting, over farming. I would never make it as a world leader.
cute and relaxed but not boring :)
Dead game, stay away
I had a good one evening session with this game, I probably won't play it again, but it was a fun evening so I really can't complain!
Fun and relaxing. Shame progress seems to have stopped.

Great game! Really enjoying it so far. I think it would benefit from having more goals/achievements, as it can feel like it loses its point after a while, like why am i still playing? Definitely has room to grow, but it has a very strong start!
Wow! This game is awesome! If you like a Colony Sim on an Island with an Amish style life, then this is perfect. He has done a fantastic job!
Nice and relaxing
Entertaining game, can get a sprawling town running smooth and it's satisfying!
Was promising, but the development progress got null.
the game is still in EA but we haven't seen an update since almost a year
take this for what you will
All basic city builder lover needs - People, some logistics, rich enough.
build only basic roads idk maybe its bugged but it very expensive and slow to build.
minuses - i ve struggled to maintain fast tech development, at some point i wish i could save blueprints (like in factorio + drones), missing some plot, entertainment buildings ;")
p.s. game has amazing mode = 'screensaver' xD
really enjoyable game. its a pretty basic, chill time, which i really enjoy. Tho it definitely feels unfinished.
Pretty good, but kind of lands flat in terms of overall gameplay. Not very exciting game play loop, gets pretty boring after 3-4 hours (unless you never played any similar game before, which could scretch this to maybe 10 hours), and tech tree does not really solve the problem, as it is just more of the same, with not a lot of challanges.
Graphics (especially for workers and some icons) is a bit too low res, and confusing. Rest is mostly ok, but I would prefer a bit higher resolution, better sound system (it gets monotonous and annoying at times, with all workers noises together), better campaign, and maybe extra faster speed mode, because even fast one is kind of slow.
Clearly inspired by Settlers and Settlers 2, and some areas expended, but some actually reduced.
It works nicely on Linux, has Windowed mode, and can be made to run in background.
A good homage to some of the classics of the genre, hits the vibe of old-school Settlers.
At time of writing, it needs a little more flesh on the bone, and some fine tuning to properly shine, but this is a really solid entry from a dedicated indie dev.
I'll likely come back to check on this one, but for now have enjoyed what is available.
What an amazing little game! You just want to keep playing, unlocking the next technology and keep growing! It may be small but it's addicting. Recommended to all players that like to grow an empire without the way s***
Lovely Settlers-like game, quick launch-to-gameplay
Super petit city building
I remember liking this game way before in highschool when the trailers went out. Now that I am addicted to manufacturing chains and the likes, even economy, this game made me fall in love with it more. Honestly, this is one of my go to games for relief and to see whether I would get rich HAHAHAHAH.
I cant wait to see more update!
A better Settlers than any of the Settlers released in the last decade.
Still in EA and seems not abandoned. In depth supply chain, hexagon, pixel art. It is so good that I actually think the retail price is too cheap, while I just bought it from summer sale.
Edit: 2024-07-23
Game become slower when reaches 2K pop, while it does not fully utilize the CPU (3900X), GPU (3060 Ti) and RAM(64GB). Disabled weather effect do improved 25% FPS (20 -> 25, though).
MicroTown scratches an odd itch between a factory sim, and city sim that I never knew I had. I first played shortly after early access began, and I've been returning for several hour sessions every major update. I really enjoy the addition of the trading posts, and hope the mechanic is further explored/realized. Either way, the dev(s) really know what they're doing. Excited to see what comes next!
Chill and fun little management sim with complex enough production/tech trees and supply chain mechanics to keep you interested without having a super steep learning curve. Reminds me of The Settlers (Die Siedler) series but without the combat.
I really love the game! Keep up the great work. :-)
pleaaseeee add Portuguese language
The preview on the Steam page isn't really up to date. The game is a bit more polished than that and I honestly can't understand the EA status. Yes, it's small and you just build because you build without much of an objective, but that's kind of what I was looking for. The biggest problem is the price. The dev should definitely sell it for 3-5€, then it would be a bit more in line with the content on offer and would probably attract more players and also get rid of the EA tag because a lot of people might be scared away because of this.
This is game is so nice to play. Feels like a 1.0 game already. Just buy it if you like these type of games.
Chill city builder with enjoyable progression
This is a great little game, even while in early access. I've enjoyed playing it for over a year now and it's only gotten better. Excited to see where else it goes!
Very addictive and always fun to return to!!
A hex-based, pixelart, The Settlers-esque type town management game. Sweet and simple with a lot of different industries to explore and optimize. Could use some minor QoL improvements but other than that this is already a highly polished game, definitively worth it!
The only game close in nature to the original SETTLERS 2 from my youth, it works mostly the same and I can (and have) spend hours and hours lost in it playing my life away. Very enjoyable game bar the graphics, even though that is the ''charm'' of this particular game being all pixelated and such, I mean, it's cute and all, I just don't personally care for it.
„MicroTown” to urocza i kompaktowa gra o budowaniu miast, w której gracze odpowiadają za rozwój i zarządzanie małym miasteczkiem w pikselowym, uroczym świecie.
Gracze muszą strategicznie planować i optymalizować budynki produkcyjne, ustalać priorytety projektów budowlanych i zarządzać potrzebami populacji.
What a fantastic little time waster :3
Simple enough to immediately understand if you've played town management games before, and a great beginning of you want to start
Also simple enough where you're not gonna lose too many days, but enough to satisfy the need to keep some random dudes in a forest alive when they would really rather not
I have some opinions, and boy are they long opinions, but I don't write reviews unless I feel strongly about enough to actually write them out (cuz it's not that I don't have opinions, I just have better things to do) so maybe my issues will get fixed, because I'm willing to bet the dev cares but is probably very busy ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (If dev is reading this, I greatly appreciate you, no matter what you decide to do :3)
I meant to go to bed at 9pm last night, but apparently I ignored a very loud alarm, and wound up going to bed at 6am, and I'm not even mad ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ That's what a good game is supposed to do :333
Buckle up buttercup cuz here are some words:
Not completely perfect, I have some issues with the farms / gardens being a pain to change crop type, (and having to plant / change each crop / tree INDIVIDUALLY) and the same for the arborist which I don't see as completely necessary as forester will pull that duty in some games, (the arborist grows saplings, which the forester plants, and the lumberjack cuts down) It's not much of a problem and a neat little supply chain gimmick in this game; it's super annoying to change the tree type that I'd like to grow, but I could just Google how to do that and possibly get a solution, so maybe it's a me problem ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
YOU BETTER HAVE MASONS AND TIMBER OR THE GAME WILL GRIND TO A SLOW DOMPAPINE FUELED DRIP
Most games need just raw wood for most basic structures, but this games needs processed timber for that, so if you set some wood cutters (? can't remember building that makes timber ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) down thinking that will take care of it and move on, things gonna move slowly and it might take awhile to figure out why. You need timber and stone blocks for evvveeeeerything
There's no basic stockpile, so if your settlement is a long distance away from the starting area, and you delete the default stockpile (which cannot be undeleted, ask me how I know :3) expect things to grind to a halt if you have no other storage, which needs to be unlocked (only stores one kind of material at a time) Maybe there's a workaround for that, but you have caught me pre google for tips and tricks so meep
There's a bunch of resources / materials / types of ground cover that hints of something more complicated, but I don't really see how it could add to the experience without making it questionably more complicated, although complex recipes and the supply chains needed to support them sounds neat, it's pretty great as a tight little supply chain management game
It could be complex enough for the people who love to micromanage, and simple enough for people who can't be bothered 🤔
This is the game I would probably make after getting annoyed with other more complicated micromanagement, you know if I invested in practical skills instead of wasting my time playing video games pffftttt that sounds like wooorrrk, I have some dudes in a forest for that :3 So thanks for saving me the trouble I guess :333
What are periods I only understand commas :3
Wuselfaktor!
A solid city-builder with a very neat art style. Strongly recommended.
grt game
This is a delightful city builder, and the dev is extremely active with the community and open to feedback. It's fantastic even in Early Access, and I can't wait to see how it plays out in the final builds.
It's the cozy part of Settlers. The largest threat you face is the bars going down.
Can be played as an idler.
comfy
Cute settlers-like strategy game.
Absolutely LOVE this game!!! Plenty more content than I had expected for how young it is and its price. Would be willing to pay even more for it.
The music is fitting, the sfx are right on point. The art is absolutely adorable. I absolutely love every mechanism and how things interact with each other.
Feel surprisingly complete by way of essentials for this kind of game (villager management, a fair few stats to you can keep track of, etc...)
Even has an in-game wiki.
10/10 would recommend in a heartbeat.
Absolutely fun and Great game. Great controls and everything is very smooth as far as changing stuff, doing tasks. Highley recommend it to Everyone to Grab it.
TL;DR: The Settlers without enemies.
Love this game, just a relaxing settlement builder.
I didn't expect the tech tree to be so big.
🏡 / 10
i like this game
- cute style -- love watching those lil guys run around
- was a little hard to figure out at the beginning
- if you like banished, you will enjoy this game
7/10
I bought this game in 2019 and still love it today mainly because it's very simple with growing depth with each version. There's no real outlined goal which is not important it's rather the pursuit of being caught up in these systems and trying to create the most efficient results.
This is a wonderful settlers-esque resource management city builder. The pixel graphics and the music are charming and I really hope that the game expands further during EA. There's already a lot to the game and the resource management can be deceptively deep. I can see myself spending a lot of time on this one.
Micro Settlers
Found a bug and reported it on the forum. Dev posted they were working on it in less than an hour, had it fixed in less than two. That alone is worth a recommend to me, but the game is also fun and updated regularly. Good for a more chill city-building experience with lots of satisfying supply chains.
hey kid, you like resource management games?
Great hidden gem. Play it!
A tiny good game
I played countless hours of Serf City, and this game scratches the itch of colony sim building. I'm very happy with how the game's developed so far, and I look forward to future progress for more meditative resource migration!
Great relaxing game
Just waiting for new updates!!!
Another greedy price gouging!
This game has all the mechanics a good civ builder should have. It plays very smooth and there is already alot of stuff to do and buildings to build. More content for this game will come anytime this year or beginning next year
This is a unique city builder with a lot of potential. It isn't going to replace something like Cities Skylines or Soviet Republic, but I think you can get at least 20 hours out of it. The art style is easily 10/10 and the audio is good for what it is. I definitely think it is worth giving a shot and supporting small devs.
ten out of ten
Servus zusammen,
Gibt's nen Trick microtown in deutsch zu spielen? Freu mich über Kommentare
👍
TL;DR: What if The Settlers 1 was fun today? MicroTown.
22 years ago the death of the settlers franchise ripped a deep wound into my heart. I started playing those games on my fathers lap and found myself hooked until it's last entry, The Settlers 4, eventually on my own chair.
Other games in the town building slash logistic management genre like Anno or Banished lean more towards the simulation aspects and feel rather "heavy" or "dense". In contrast The Settlers always had an arcady feel to it, with their games being easy to pick up, with only some management complexity balanced with continuous expansion.
While I don't want to draw any steep comparisons, MicroTown hits exactly that game feel in the sweet spot between construction, logistics and expansion. After 22 years of searching it is the first band aid soothing my soul and besides obvious homages a game I for the first time would call a true "Settlers-like".
All that while having it's own style: Worker buildings require small camps set up near them for your artisans. It omits tools, making all workers equal and speedy. Fields grow to a healthy size and larger demands require massive amounts of buildings. Complexity is guided with a simple research system and the town demands it's space. The controls and interface are modern and easy to understand.
The premise is innocent, just grab a map and build. Your goal is to construct a monument which can be done in two hours. However, the game has complexity it does not channel into quests yet. The most complex products currently require 7 base ressources and 4 production layers, while your citizens demand a hefty stream of goods. I swear they eat chairs and rags, too! No multiplayer, competitors or external traders for now.
Towns grow to up to 2000 or more people with over 5000 squares build on. You transform the land to match your logistics network, planning throughput for your 200 potatoes-per-minute wagon trains. I got my moneys worth after three hours and found myself hooked for 45h more.
The game in it's current state runs free of bugs and starts to slow down only beyond 3000 settlers. The developer is easy to reach in his discord, nice to talk to and ambitioned in his plans for the game, pushing regular updates.
Even if it's not your jam throwing pickles and chairs through windows of houses you carved out of an unsuspecting island, I encourage you to give it a try.
MicroTown is a true little gem that settled (in) my heart. I'm excited for whats to come.
Simple, cosy
♥
i don't like EA actually but this time...this game is just...damn I LOVE IT
it is charming, heart warming and calm. it is just wonderful.
buy and spread it. this game really has to grow audience.
Good, easy, interesting
This game is surprisingly well balanced, which for an indie project - is a wonderful achievement.
It's easy and stress-free to play, like a fine and cozy settlement management simulator. There's nothing revolutionary, but what is there works fine.
Another good point: the game is very well optimized technically and will run smoothly on 20-year-old hardware without any issues.
Glitches cause broken game play when updating and loading saved games. The achievements seem to be not really based from real experiences and game play but rather arbitrarily chosen. I thought this was going to be similar to something like Stardew Valley in an RTS setting but was disappointed. Not to really bag on the developer, I know the effort that was put in but we're paying and I want a solid stable product, even if it's not 100% in all areas. This fell short of that benchmark and I think many would agree.
This game rules love making little supply chains and annexing large swathes of land for charcoal production.
good enough
Lovely game. It has some goals but generally free-range based on needs. There's no real danger or panic here and that's great if that's what you want. Surprisingly engaging and captivating with the pixel design contributing to the satisfaction of making your own functioning.
Perfect game to chill, it's challenging enough without being too punishing, so you can just hop in and try to make the best town possible at any time
I loved factorio, and microtown has the similar automation vibe, while using the civilization genre, which results in a game with huge potential.
MicroTown is a great game, it is made by a single guy and you should really buy it while it's cheap.
I just wish more money would be invested in this game to improve it, so more features can be released more quickly.
The game is not 100% perfect right now, but it's really great for early access, and I enjoyed playing it, and it shows big potential.
I played 14 hours and I feel I can still improve and make better towns, which is a good ratio of game time per euro spent.
I can't wait for new features.
Someone needs to get in touch with the developer and help him hire at least 1 additional developer (maybe 2?), and at least get him a pixelart budget for the buildings.
my friend got me this and ITS SO ADDICTING!! i love managing everything, even if its kinda confusing at some points, it's really relaxing too :) i can't wait to see what else is added into the game! i hope it gets lots of fun updates in the future!
Chill little town builder. Early Access doesn't mean less fun, it's neat to see the game grow as it gets developed.
How unfortunate. A developer that has a good idea and starting point and then doesn't really know where to take it.
As it stands the game development is not progressing at all. The last update from four months ago just splits up existing functionality like wood cutting even further... why? Why not make the game deeper (more goals, more tech, more mechanics) instead of adding functionality that does absolutely nothing positive for the game?
This is early access done the wrong way that we already know, and unfortunately the developer(s?) doesn't know how to properly scale development of a game from a starting point that people obviously like.
This game really doesn't offer anything new and will not be released anytime soon.
Was a nice Surprise did not think it would keep me busy as long as it did bought it a few years ago played it 26min and dropped it as it didnt offer much, but after coming back to it after a few updates it was worth giving it some time. enjoyed it wasnt too hard but was relaxing to play will probably pick it up again after a few updated since the direction of the game seems well thought out it just needs something to add a little danger or difficulty
Impressive work. I like the style and the game itself works beautiful. It reminds me of the settlers 4 exept grafics. I am intrigued what the full version will look alike. 10/10 so far.
Wonderful little game that my 8 year old and I enjoy very much.
so far, so good.
I like this game quite a bit.
Currently one of my favorite city builders.
Love the focus on core gameplay mechanics. Even in this early phase the gameplay shines through.
One of my favorite city builders.
Divertido, to gostando.
