Despite the developer, Altaire, stating that they are "next-level. And we're proud of it" on their website, they have effectively abandoned this game. Altaire is no longer making video games and are focused on business clients. They are still happy to continue selling a broken game though.

일단 정상 작동이 됐고, 또 이건 정말 미쳤습니다. 너무 재밌어요.
먼저... 실행이 안되는 이유를 찾았습니다.
이 게임은 기본적으로 VR과 PC가 대전하는 2인 이상이 필수로 요구되는 게임입니다.
최소 플레이어 2인(PC 1인 + VR 1인)에서 최대 플레이어 5인(PC 4인 + VR 1인) 입니다.
다만... VR을 연결해 게임을 구동하는 PC의 경우, 직접 번갈아 조작해야 하는 번거로움이 있습니다.
23년도에 실행이 안된다고 비추천을 했던, 오해를 부른 가장 큰 이유기도 합니다.
그렇기 때문에, 초반 실행 부분만 잘 실행해 주시면 좋을 것 같습니다.
튜토리얼도 기본적인 조작 방식만 다뤄서 설명하고 있습니다.
다만, VR 이용자의 스킬 사용 방법이 조금 헷갈리긴 합니다.
왼쪽 컨트롤러의 핸들을 원하는 스킬 방향으로 맞추고, 클릭하는 식으로 추정하고 있긴 한데... 조금 더 해봐야 알 것 같습니다.
시스템 또한 제법 정교합니다.
우선, VR 시점에선 매우 넓고 어떤 커다란 미니어처를 보고 있는 것처럼 "제법 아기자기한 느낌이 드는데?" 싶은 생각입니다.
VR 유저의 조작 방식은 왼 손만으로 가능하며, 오른손은 위치 이동에만 사용됩니다.
그리고 양쪽 진영 모두 유리하게 사용할 수 있는 스킬이 부여되어 있습니다.
찾는자(VR) 스킬:
1. 스캐너(작동 후 가까이 가져갔을 때 사람이라면 반응하는 식의 스킬 같습니다.)
2. 프리즈(작동하면 AI가 모두 잠시동안 멈추게 됩니다. 그 동안 움직인다면 사람이겠죠?)
3. 베리어(작동하면 일정시간에 걸쳐, 기계를 끄지 못하게끔 보호막이 생성됩니다.)
숨는자(PC) 스킬:
1. 과부하(일시적으로 과부하를 발생시켜 모든 기계가 꺼진 것처럼 보이게 됩니다. 그 사이에 기계를 끈다면 혼란을 유발할 수 있겠죠?)
2. 러닝(일시적으로 VR 플레이어 시야에서 사라지며, 매우 빠른 속도로 이동합니다.)
3. 리부팅(일시적으로 VR 유저의 시야를 가리게 됩니다. {리부팅 화면으로 대체되어 가려짐})
!!! 숨는자의 스킬은 동그란 구체 모양으로 맵 곳곳에 랜덤하게 퍼져있습니다.
!!! 다만, 이미 보유중인 스킬은 습득이 안되며, 스킬을 사용해 스킬칸이 소모되면 습득할 수 있습니다.
숨어서 미션을 수행해야 하는 PC 유저 입장에선 VR 유저의 손이 가까이 오면 화면이 검게 변하며 긴장되는 스텐스와 함께 경고해주는 장치가 있기도 합니다.
맵 또한 1개가 아닌 총 4가지로 매번 색다르게 즐길 수 있다는 이점 또한 있는 것 같습니다.
그럼에도 불구하고 개선하길 바라는 점들을 꼽아보면 이렇습니다.
1. 비대칭 플레이 형태기 때문에 디스코드 등으로 VR 화면을 송출하기는 어렵습니다. (PC 플레이어 시점만 송출됨.)
-> 해결방법: 스팀링크를 이용해 VR 뷰 자체를 송출하면 VR 화면 송출도 가능합니다!
2. 숨는자는 정교한 컨트롤이 필요할 때도 있습니다.
-> 마우스 조작을 신경쓰지 않으면 다른 NPC랑 다르게 사선으로 걷기도 합니다. 조금 더 편의적으로 개선되면 좋겠네요.
3. 온라인 멀티 플레이가 지원되지 않습니다.
-> 스팀 리모트 플레이를 이용해야 하기 때문에, 1:1이면 한 집에 두 명 이상이거나, PC 유저가 컨트롤러 이용이 가능해야 합니다. (1:2 이상 상황에선 1인 초과분부터 무조건 적으로 컨트롤러 사용이 필수로 요구됨.)
추가로 이 게임의 세계관은 "안드로이드 공장을 조사하는 대형 로봇 감독관과 활성화 된 모든 기계를 멈추려는 안드로이드의 대결" 정도로 보입니다.
라스트 맨 스탠딩과 대단히 흡사하지만... VR로 보고 있고, 그렇게 피부로 와닿게끔 연출했기 때문에 심적으로도 매우 쫄깃한 대작이라고 생각합니다.
정가로 사기에도 하나도 아쉽지 않은 숨은 나만의 꿀맛집 같은 게임이니 꼭 구매하시기 바라겠습니다.

Past that, however, this game is great fun. can be played locally, online VIA remote play, or true online with a beta branch right here on steam. if you have, or are willing to find somebody to play this with, this is a VR classic that will certainly give you some good times. would recommend! y'know, ignoring the gamebreaking update that makes the game unplayable... but if you know how to fix that, at least the price used to be $15 so hey, you take what you can get i suppose.
This game is amazing, the concept is great. I played 1 round the day i bought it, then I invited some friends to test it out and notice the game was no longer playable after an update. Game is absolutely amazing and very fun, one of my favorite VR games, That was until an update in February of 2023 that broke everything and made it completely unplayable. No local play anymore and no way to play as the VR player in online mode.
As of March 2024 this seems to be fully fixed and anyone who was also having this issue just needs to uninstall and reinstall the game. Glad to finally be able to play again.

Mass Exodus Redux (referred to as MER going forward) is a clever, asymmetric, local-multiplayer VR game for up to five players. It's a creative take on "hide and seek", to make for a unique party game experience. I've only run across one other game remotely similar to this, called Panoptic, and MER is the superior choice between the two. While the sessions for MER are typically short, it's often enough to scratch that itch for "something different". It's been one of my favorites to show people who are new to VR.

[h1]Gameplay[/h1]
The gameplay is simple. The seeker (VR player) is a robot overlord trying to find and destroy the rogue robots (up to four other PC players) in a crowd of 100+ identical robots all going about their business. The rogue robots are trying to deactivate the various control panels around the facility to enable their escape, all without looking suspicious. Each side has three unique powers at their disposal that serve to confuse, hinder, or expose your adversary. These special abilities are reasonably balanced and none felt over-powered.
In a one vs one match, with both equally-skilled players, the game is lopsided in favor of the seeker. A more balanced match between equally skilled adversaries would be two or three rogue robots versus one seeker. However, even that depends on the map. Some maps favor the Seeker more and vice versa. A great feature about this game is that it's pretty easy to adjust the balance to keep things interesting and competitive. For example, a game of four novices versus one experienced seeker would be an even match. Going deeper, there's also various settings you can tweak to rebalance a level, such as number of AI robots, and special power duration.
There's not an enormous amount of depth to this game. This is more of a party game that is meant to be played casually. There's a little bit more of a ramp up than with typical party games, but you'll still know all you need to know within a couple short matches.
[h1]How Multiplayer Works[/h1]
As mentioned before the seeker wears the VR headset, while one to four other people control the rogue robot copies. The rogue robots all share the PC monitor, so in a five-player session the monitor is divided into four windows. Sharing a screen with four other people naturally means you are sharing resolution with them as well, however it wasn't a significant hinderance. Since the person on VR can't see the PC screen and the other players can't see the VR headset screen, the rogue robots can sufficiently operate clandestinely while still being in the same room with the VR player.
It's important to note that MER is a multiplayer-[i]only[/i] game. There is no single-player experience. Furthermore, it is a [i]local[/i] multiplayer-only game. It is designed for all players to play on one PC, either in person or over Steam's Remote Play. There are no online lobbies to round up strangers to play a game.
[h1]Controls[/h1]
You can have a rogue robot player using mouse and keyboard with three other players using gamepads, or you can have all four rogue robot players on gamepads. It has worked both ways for me. The controls for both the keyboard and gamepad options map to basic FPS style controls. Anyone familiar with those style of controls will pick it up instantly.
The seeker, in the VR headset, uses each VR wand for separate functions. The left hand is used for using special abilities, while the right hand is used for picking up suspicious robots and destroying them. Of all the controls, picking up robots is the only thing that is slightly touchy. Your hand is big, and the robots are tiny, so it must be in just the right spot to snag a specific bot. Luckily, there's a small orb hovering out from your palm to act as a guide for placing your hand in the right location. It takes a few tries, but in short order it will become second nature to you.

Another nice controller function is the click and drag movement of the seeker. It's a way of moving around the area while standing still. It's really beneficial for those who have limited VR space in small rooms or need an extra height boost/decrease.
[h1]Compared to Panoptic[/h1]
It's worth comparing MER to the game Panoptic, because these two titles are near clones of each other, while no other games are remotely similar to them. Overall, MER has several advantages over Panoptic:

The core gameplay is the same, but it feels slightly more satisfying to physically pick up robots, and throw them in the grinder/furnace/zapper in MER. In Panoptic you're just making a contactless laser blast from your eyes in all cases.
Neither game has been updated in the last two years, so they are the same in that regard. Even as a "dead" game I still recommend MER. It's great as is, and being a dead game is really inconsequential since it's a local multiplayer-only game anyway. The player base is always whoever is in your house or on your friends list.
[h1]Game Length[/h1]
There is no campaign or progress to pursue, other than the achievements. You can play any map at any time. Once one side or the other wins, that's it, and you will then return to the main menu to give it another go.
Each round can last anywhere from a few seconds in length (if you're playing against some rather brazen and non-stealthy rogues) or up to 15 minutes. It all depends on how skilled each side is and how many are playing. I typically play a few rounds for 30 minutes up to an hour or so before people want to move on to something different.
[h1]Achievements[/h1]
Since the game is local multiplayer-only the achievements are almost pointless, as they largely depend on how skilled your opponents are. With everything happening on one system, they are easily gamed by leaving one controller idle. To make matters worse, two achievements appear to be bugged and were unobtainable for me no matter how many different ways I tried to perform the required actions: "Cloak and Dagger", and "Baby Steps". I was able to obtain all other achievements. Browsing through the forums it appears others have the same issue, although it's strangely not universal.
[h1]Which VR system?[/h1]
I played this on both the HTC Vive and HTC Vive Pro 2 without issue.

There are quite a lot of bugs, and pausing straight up breaks the game for us. Yet we have never had more fun playing a vr game. I somehow have 11 hours of playing this game, it doesn't feel like that much, and yet I have. I wish there were more games like this because the competitiveness of this game is insane; plus it is also a fantastic concept, being able to verse someone in vr while on the desktop. I set this game up in our vr club and the amount of attention it draws is incredible. All of that ADHD typing and thoughts has left me here, it's a good game, I do recommend! (wish for some bug fixes but maybe one day XD)
This game was SO fun before it got the rework update. After that it doesn't even work for me. I legit can't play the game. Local play isn't even an option and noone is online to join apparently, and when I try to join via my oculus it just says waiting on steam vr while it tries to load the game

Habiéndo pocos juegos así (asimétricos VR/PC) lo súper recomiendo. Pero si hubieses competencia, se quedaría corto y quizás mi reseña sería negativa.

Very cool
Game has been absolutely amazing in the past, and I had a lot of fun before it went "redux". But recently, it seems the game has seen no updates, can be very buggy at times, and unless you have a dedicated group of friends to play with, this game will probably just collect dust in the uninstalled section of your game library like mine. If you really like games like this, pick it up on sale if you can, but do not recommend at current price.

I was introduced to this game by NODE a long time ago and always wanted to play it. I recently got an Oculus Quest 2 but the powerup abilities that the vr player relies on are unusable. While I would love to play this game it just isnt possible unless they fix compatability.

Great hide and seek game for local asymmetric play with friends! Had a great time switching off with my buddies and both sides have their tools to succeed against the other, a fun game of patience and risk!
NOTE: I am playing this on an Oculus Quest 2 and the other reviewers are INCORRECT about not being able to use power-ups as the seeker. The tutorial/controls just do not do a good job explaining it. To use power ups as the seeker you simply use the left joystick (or whichever joystick you see the power ups on in the side of with the dashboard). You'll see the symbols in a little triangle on the side of the controller and you have to hold the joystick in the direction of the power up you want to use (left/up/right) and click the stick in (helps to hold it in till you hear/see the power up activate). Hope that helps!

A very fun game to play when you've got friends or family over. A bit unbalanced, but great fun. Everyone enjoyed it.
Game has ceased development and none of the current bugs are going to be fixed. If you have an Oculus Quest, don't bother purchasing as the game won't work properly and you'll just be frustrated and waste your time trying to get it to work. Look into other Asymmetric VR games and you'll be much happier. Game had so much promise, sad to see it died :(

Massive ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ props to the devs for coming back to fix their game and make it work well on newer generations of VR. It's always a blast to play this on a TV with friends. There are still bugs and glitches, but nothing really bad.
The performance in some levels can get bad (the core), and theres no artificial turn with the right stick. Other than those 2 issues the game is a really fun party game, and probably one of the better VR party games currently out there.

I refunded this game. Also, in response to a forum post I made, one of the developers confirmed the game is abandoned, so nothing will ever be fixed.
The game has bugs that make it unplayable for the PC players. Sometimes they simply can't disable a terminal. Other bugs include NPC robots that get stuck in place, walk continuously into a wall, and make the falling animation as they walk around the room. The PC player characters' arms don't reset to normal if picked up and put down by the VR player. This means the VR player can pick up robots one after another and find the one that remains deformed after put back down.
Game settings reset after every level, meaning you will constantly go back into the settings menu to make them what you want.
As the VR player, I need ability to rotate the room without having to turn my head. Spinning in circles gets this headset cord all tangled. The game allows you to laterally move the map with the Grip buttons on the controller (this isn't in the tutorial, by the way), but there is no rotate feature.
Finally, ignoring all the above, you can experience everything this game has to offer in only 40 minutes of play time. When the VR player wins, a map can be finished in under a minute. For the PC players to win, it takes closer to 5-10 minutes. But with only 4 levels to play, they're played very quickly. The game not only needs more levels, but also some variety! Different scenes are great for the VR player, but the levels need to actually feel different for the PC players, not merely look different. Walking up and down staircases and across walkways doesn't have to be the only layout the PC players are stuck with.
The one positive I'll leave with is that the ability to play with up to 5 players is fantastic.

No real suspense came up, accompanied by weird bugs like the sound disappearing after someone deactivates the first station.
One of the best party games I have ever played my friends and I had an absolute blast playing this lots of screaming and cursing at each other. Soooo worth it even for full price.

Если кто не понял по описанию/скриншотам, суть игры:
Человек в VR - один, он надзиратель, гигантское существо с руками, у которого есть 3 способности: остановка всех юнитов, сканер на изгоя и защита тумблеров/реакторов/как_их_называют_в_игре. Все способности временные(~5 сек) и одноразовые, без восстановления.
1-4 человека за ПК - изгои. Они должны прятаться среди толпы ботов, полностью одинаковых, и незаметно пробраться по лестницам и коридорам к тумблерам. У них так же есть 3 способности: ослепление надзирателя, невидимость, фейковое выключение всех тумблеров. Все способности временные и одноразовые, однако по уровню расположены 3 сферы, которые восстановят конкретную способность, если вы её потратили.
В целом игра очень атмосферная, играя за изгоя вы реально паникуете, что вас заметит надзиратель и боитесь посмотреть даже в его сторону, чтобы не спалиться. За надзирателя же тоже достаточно интересно играть, однако если игроки явно не выдают себя, то найти их становится достаточно сложно.
Играя в 2-м(1 надзиратель, 1 изгой), мы быстро поняли, что за изгоя в целом играть будет полегче, а если их будет больше 1-го, то я даже не уверен, что у надзирателя есть шансы.
В целом это игра и не для задроства, а именно что поиграть в компании, чтобы повеселиться.
Брал за 139р, в целом это дешевле, чем поиграть в какой-то аттракцион в ТЦ, однако за те же 349р мне было бы уже жалко)
This is actually really fun. Not enough games in the genre of local multiplayer VS where one is in and one is out of VR. This also really got my heart rate up playing as the robot.

VERY unfinished game.
Lot's of potential with gameplay similar to Panoptic, except this game is NOWHERE NEAR in playable state.
In the regular version, I wasn't even able to start tutorial (I couldn't walk, just my head was bobbing). Beta version lacks tutorial entirely, but at least we were able to play it over the Internet. Ending of the game simply kicks you to main menu, no message, no nothing. Really just a proof of concept. Seems like the beta is a previous version that was later subject to rewriting except the process sort of died out and they released unpolished mess full of game-breaking bugs.
I will buy this again if they finish it properly. But today (Nov 2020) this is worth maybe 5€ as an experiment for the tinker-friendly customers, not €15. So I will be refunding this.
Older version of this game was much better :(

Its a giant, scary game of hide and seek! The visuals and performance since the 2.0 update have been awesome! Love the new level too!

I wish it had more players
The game has a bug for me (Oculus Quest with Oculus Link OR Virtual Desktop and Touch controllers).
The VR player can not trigger its 3 special abilities.
I actually get visual feedback that the button on the controller is pressed (and the controller confirms with vibration) but nothing happens.
So far it was fun.
My favorite party game.
It'd be nice if it had online play to help with latency but this is a top tier game.
If you have a VR, This is a must have.

As of now, I'm not recommending this game, because when I played it with my friends, each time, the seeker was able to spot the rogue after the first button press and we really didn't have much fun with it. Also, I had a problem with the rogue being in my couch cushion AKA I wasn't able to set it up properly with my room space (this may just be my own problem). Maybe it would be more fun with more people, but with only one rogue, it was not an eventful experience. I will give it another try in the future with different friends.

This game is really fun, I had a great time playing it in asymmetric mode..
This is good for a few hours with the right group of friends. But can get old real fast.
I am having issues useing the freeze ability I can use everyother ability as the seeker is it a glich or am i stupid
I played this game back a couple years ago on Vive and had a great time playing it with friends locally. However, I currently have an Oculus headset and have learned that the abilities as a Seeker cannot be used due to faulty error. You would attempt to use a power up on the joystick, only for the option to not work and to attempt pressing every button in an attempt to have any ability work. You can still pick up the little people, but what is the point if I can't use any abilities as a Seeker. Kind of the point of the game to be able to use them.
This game was made with Vive in mind, not Oculus. Until I see an update that fixes this, I will repurchase and change review. As for now, Oculus owners beware.

IT'S A GOOD GROUP GAME
This game is a fantastic multiplayer VR game. Excellent at parties, and so fun for small groups. There's not a ton of content in the game, but the four levels have a lot of replayability. It's also fun to be a robot overload and destroy your underlings.
All of us here at LoneStar Bar loved this game. It is great for groups to keep everyone entertained.

They changed it from Online Multiplayer to Split-screen ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Worst tradedeal in the history of deals. Why anyone would purchase this, in it's current state, is beyond me.

Основные плюсы и минусы:
- играть можно впятером на [b]одном[/b] компе, если есть дополнительно 3 геймпада, что автоматически дает возможность играть через Remote Play таким же составом, если сеть позволяет
- в некоторых уровнях присутствуют баги со звуком и периодически пропадающими руками (хотя возможно это проблемы WMR)
- в других отзывах видел жалобы на дисбаланс - на самом деле он довольно легко фиксится настройками раунда, где можно поменять респаун и длительность способностей
- классическая проблема игр такого типа: пойманные игроки вынуждены тупо дожидаться конца раунда. В принципе можно было бы в механике игры добавить какие-нибудь посмертные роли.
В целом, отличная игра для компании.
UPD. Вынужден редактировать отзыв, т.к. после обновления этого года игра стала АБСОЛЮТНО неиграбельно, недоступен локальный режим, а сетевой по факту не работает. Надеюсь это будет исправлено
UPD 2. Локальный режим исправили, теперь снова можно играть за одним ПК, но теперь появились проблемы с оптимизацией, которых раньше не было, тормозит даже при одном игроке на ПК. Буду разбираться, может надо что-то в настройках поменять, но радует что разработчики не забросили игру и исправляют ошибки.
Controls are difficult and almost never work with more than one controller, also no matter how high you turn up the britness you actually can,t see anything as the flat screen player.
There is also another game similar to this one here on steam, but it is not as fun as Exodus. However, would be great if there's some more polishing made and MORE MAPS please. It has potential and is currently the best one I've seen so far with this play-style.
A fun party game, but BADLY needs optimization (or at least more graphical options). I was running all minimum settings on a 1070 and still had stuttering.
If you have a better setup than I do though, do pick up this game. It's a lot of fun and hilariously infuriating.
This is without any doubt the best VR multiplayer game of all times, and every update is a marvel! A huge thank you to the devs!
A great game to play with friends over
getting it working with remote play together is iffy but it was a lot of fun once it was.
other player couldn't use my mouse and keyboard until i dropped resolution to something compatible with the remote system
