There are things I appreciate and then some baffling design choices making it a frustrating experience. Story setup begins with a dark undertone attempting to avoid generic fantasy tropes. You're at the whim of a religious elder/priest fanatic that doesn't seem to stomach witches. Like all terrible bosses he's too lazy to get his hands dirty and you're his abiding inquisitor. You try and impress your boss by slaughtering the helpless witch likely triggering your life long quest and psychological issues that follow. Your boss isn't happy with your actions as he sees it as a mercy killing for the witch and wanted her to endure a lifetime of chronic pain and spinal issues. You're obviously paid little due to your crappy leather starting armour and empty gold pouch. As far as bosses go he seems cruel. Hopefully you find out later you have a good workers union and get some spare time for therapy. First character you meet (a friend) seems morally ambiguous and seems unsure about the repetitively cruel tasks thats given to them. Such is life. Suddenly your character begins hearing voices. He/She either clinically schizophrenic or there's a real life spirit haunting them.

Foremost its an RPG with metroidvania and soulslike elements. You choose characters gender and male/female voice for the upcoming journey. There's minor choices to customize looks and choice of several different starting classes. Skill tree is nice with several branching class specific trees you can add later once hitting a specific level. Environments and world are detailed and feel alive due to weather effects wind, rain and sunlight animation consistently avoiding static backdrops. Sound design is top quality for voice acting, effects and music. Owning surround sound speakers there's lots of little noises around you. Most sounding real like somethings going on behind me, though this might be due to long-term mental health issues. Will update mental health....I mean review once clocked in more hours.

8 hours in. The FRUSTRATING AspEcTS. The hub camp, the bestiary, the map, generating shaders! Why have a hub where important NPC's gather and they're so far away from each other? Just put them closer together? The bestiary. Why gatekeep the bestiary to an NPC you have to travel to every time you want to lookup basic stats. To find info on the enemies remaining for unlocking next tier enemy information, or trying to track an item drop from a specific enemy you have to warp to the guy gatekeeping bestiary EVERYTIME? Its inconvenient. The map. WHY? Soon after you begin you find the map guy adding items and poi locations to your map. Problem is you collect the item and the icon DOES NOT disappear from the map? You end up with a map cluttered with useless icons everywhere. Shader generation. Why generate nearly 4000 shaders EVERYTIME I start the game. I don't understand. It's unhinged. Anyway good game. Art and sound design are fantastic. Love the vibe and mood.

Don't be fooled by the warcrafty art style - this game has some really gruesome things going on in its depths. This, combined with memorable yet natural dialogues with side characters, a metric ton of spells to cast and well thought-out locations make for a truly good experience.

The game is a metroidvanieque soulslike platformer with movement system that may feel slightly wooden at times, but perhaps that's on me cause I've played as druid :v

While you can encounter minor bugs here and there, if Cyberpunk 2077 was released with this level of attention to detail, it would be a much better game.

Definitely worth its price if you want a less cryptic Blasphemous with many, many more spells to cast.

Ну игруха норм, брал за половину прайса (+-900), прошёл бы за часов 20, но вечно 3 деталька чего либо "спрятана"+ игра "давит" на тебя отсутствием надписи 100%, проходил за мага хаоса/огня через ближний бой булавой по хребту (магической булавой).

Сюжет... ну он тут есть
Повтор минибоссов печалит. Сюжетные боссы.... печаль тоска.
Главный враг гг - гравитация, я падал в ямы и разбивался, падал на платформы и разбивался, падал на ловушки, я пытался ухватиться за выступ без подсветки... разбивался, пытался найти тайные места.... разбивался. У меня появились крылья и двойной прыжок и я стал разбиваться в 3 раза чаще.
Кста боссы хоть и пресные (кроме одного кайфарика), но их было чуть-чуть лучше пинать чем мобов. Особенные эмоции вызвала Железная дева, я как её увидел у меня весь Элден Ринг перед глазами промелькнул. Но этот босс просто мусор, я бы лучше 1к крыс в этой игре отпинал чем её, с ними хоть интереснее. (Её я зажарил лучом, в принципе как и всех скучных типов (минибоссы), хотя я и добрую часть боссов зажарил, ну не суть....)

Очень порадовал финальный босс, норм кайфарика сделали, хотя было бы круче если бы он использовал все абилки в игре во второй фазе нежели чем текущая вторая фаза, хотя она тоже ничего. Я конечно час потратил, пытаясь разной магией с телепортами и тд. Но оружие лучше булавы человечество пока ещё не придумало, и магу в лицо дать и внутренние органы бронированным рыцарям помассировать. Если булава магическая.....

Короче в танка здесь не собраться, в стеклянную пушку тоже, просто в нормиса, 70 процентов в дамаг, остальное в броню чтобы не шотали.
Если по тебе нет ваншота, - враг рано или (точнее) поздно падёт.

Разрабам бы каждого босса сделать как финального и игра была бы топовой, а так 7/10, поставил бы больше, но есть минусы (мало), которые ломают кайф от плюсов (а их много).

Важная часть игры: если вы подумали что босс какой-то лох, через секунду вас шотнет, проверено экспертом. И ещё добавлю что финальный босс должен быть как Влад Дракула из V-rising,Elden, Sekiro и тд, иначе это не победа. Хотя Влад Дракула ту мач как по мне.

I found this game randomly, had not seen any gameplay or reviews - it just popped up in my recommended and I was in the mood for a metroidvania. Overall I really enjoyed it. The combat movesets are fairly basic but combined with spells and eventual movement abilities inherent to all metroidvanias (like double jump etc) I found it to be satisfying enough. Really, I loved the art the most. The character portraits during dialogue, the environments and backgrounds were beautiful and I loved the weather effects. The story is fine, really just a vehicle to keep you progressing and not much more. Overall I would recommend, probably on sale which is when I got it.

-При каждом запуске игры компиляция шейдеров.
-Немного кисельное управление.
-Финальный бос прям душный и кривые хитбоксы, играл через способность “Шаг сквозь тень”, иногда тупо не работает, хотя можно подбежать и ударить. Бывает, начинает спамить одну и туже атаку. Вторая фаза бред, да и вообще построение боссов на фазы, я не фанатею от соулслайков, возможно для фанатов это по кайфу.

Тут писали про костер, который далеко поставили от финального боса, это починили.

Simply one of the best metroidvania games ever made. I like that they put some effort into skill trees, makes up for alot of replayability. Love a game in the genre that uses more serious graphics and not the same old pixel stuff. Simply love the game. For new players, maybe they should make it abit more clear on where to go at some points. But exploration is also fun. Great work with this one!

This game is absolutely stunningly beautiful.
But did I have fun playing it? No, it quickly became a grinding chore to play. The difficulty in this game is partly (and dare I say mostly) controlled by how much damage the enemies does to you. So if you like heroic battles, you quickly find out that most enemies and bosses can either one-shot you, two-shot you or at worst three-shot you. Most of the time, there is not battle to be had as the enemies anr bosses just mow over you and kill you like they step on a bug. The bosses will most of the time simply be to hard for you to beat, so you need to grind the previous area to gain levels before you can even try to beat the boss you were stuck at, only to discover that there is yet another boss shortly after, that will be too hard to beat at first, so you will need to grind the previous area some... You get the pattern by now, right?
Instant death pits and traps are not nice in any game and they are used in some areas of this game to the level that you just want to crush the controller with your bare hands in frustration.

After all that said, do I recommend YOU to get this game? If it is on discount, sure why not. It is a very beautiful game after all. You might want to see it. But would you enjoy playing it, I wonder.

Enjoyed every minute of this game except for the final boss, which is just annoying.

Once completed, although you can do new game+, there isn't much incentive to do so.

Enjoyed being about to multi.class and respec my character. There is a lot of depth to this indie game. Great systems, chocie of weapons/armor. A lot of thought and love went into the creatin of this game. there we moments where you just stop playing and admire the scenery and music.

Well done to the devs! Looking forward to what comes next.

1 - Lacração. Tem mulher-macho do grelo duro com queixo quadrado? 90% de chance de ter DEI na obra. De início, tentei ignorar, imaginei que podia ser só um elemento isolado. Não era. TODO HOMEM nesse jogo é um completo LIXO. Ou é um sujeito fraco como o ladrão... a história dele é interessante, vejam só: ele se acovardou, fugiu, e quem teve coragem pra explorar o calabouço foi a mulher. E sempre tem isso '' Ah eu sou um mer, mermão... queria ter a coragem dela. Ela era a verdadeira exploradora, não eu.'' Calma que trarei mais exemplos, pegue sua pipoca... Ou se o homem for forte como o ferreiro, é um betinha que tem medo de ferir as pessoas. Aí temos o idoso burro que foi enganado... temos o vampiro poderoso mas que foi escravizado por uma mulher... ai temos o vilão final que apesar de ser muito muito forte, escreveram ele pra ser detestável, óbvio... Aí temos uma ''homenagem'' a castlevania... onde somos contratados por uma mulher pra ir atrás de um caça-vampiros chamado Richter que está morto. É sempre mulher se sobressaindo, se dando bem e é sempre homem sendo imbecil, fraco, beta, chorão, ou escroto... ''Ah era uma homenagem''. Não, não é... vocês do mandragora estão praticamente dizendo ''a nossa protagonista é mais forte e capaz que o lendário caçador de vampiros de casltevania''. Não me façam rir... castlevania tem décadas de história,.. Não existe representatividade masculina decente aqui. Aqui vemos o mesmo modus operandi de roteiristas da serie fallout. O mesmo modus operandi dos jogos feitos pela sony ocidental das últimas duas gerações. Que ia ser um jogo focado em mulheres, era meio na cara já que se trata de bruxas. Mas é sempre assim, nunca exaltam um sem rebaixar o outro. Intriguinha barata de guerra de sexos pra dividir o pilar familiar. Clássico dessa ideologia nefasta. E mesmo se vc pensar que foi só impressão, que to pegando no pé deles, não, a maluca das jóias já revelou que era lésbica e tinha uma amante. Confia, lacração não existe. Escreve lá agora '' a lactação no mundo dos games'', seu pateta tendencioso XD Isso o que tem acontecido nos últimos anos não foi meramente casos isolados, não foi a sociedade se moldando de forma orgânica e natural, mas sim produto de um plano muito bem investido por organizações milionárias com o objetivo de propagar desonestidade intelectual e lavagem-cerebral de segundo grau. Isso é um crime contra os direitos humanos, tentar moldar uma sociedade à força dessa forma.

2: Hit box. Infelizmente esse é daqueles jogos onde sofremos por limitações do software, não por culpa nossa. Eu tenho um dos joysticks mais precisos do mundo e nem ele opera milagres. Vc vai se ver desviando, saltando e mesmo no ar, mesmo com os espinhos claramente não te encostando, BUM, tome pancada. Minha opinião como game designer? Faltou frames de invencibilidade em momentos-chave. Não é sobre tornar o jogo roubado ou irrealista, mas existem momentos em que é preciso adicionar uma mudança em alguns quadros mesmo que em primeira vista não faça muito sentido. Os devs de Celeste entenderam isso. Recomendo assistirem o workshop deles.

3: Relíquias obrigatórias. A partir do momento em que o jogo me permite usar builds diferentes é algo maravilhoso. Porém, quando eu preciso carregar uma relíquia em mãos, tornando armas grandes um empecilho pro uso de magias, ai temos um problema. É 1problema porque eu fico incapaz até mesmo de COMBAR as diferentes skills. Entenda, não há tempo pra soltar a raiz e mudar pra bola de fogo já que o jogo obriga a apertar dois direcionais pra alterar por completo a build. É um botão pra mudar a arma... e outro pra mudar a hud com os outros feitiços. Isso é de uma estupidez tamanha... se supõe já que eu vou usar aquela arma especifica com aqueles feitiços, isso está denotado até mesmo no menu de equipamento, gente... foram muito tontos nesse quesito. Por que eu devo me preocupar em mudar o slot da arma E o slot de feitiço se a arma em si já bloqueia os feitiços, seja ela espadas duplas ou uma two handed? Não faz sentido... Vocês devs perderam um grande potencial que seria o de permitir magias de naturezas diferentes no mesmo set de 3 slots pra permitir combos. Como eu resolveria isso? Tornando as relíquias pedrinhas que flutuam ou ficam em algum encaixe na roupa da personagem, atuando de forma PASSIVA, não como algo que literalmente me faz escolher entre soltar bolas de fogo e ficar com uma espadinha media ou usar uma marreta de guerra e não usar feitiço algum...

4: Repetição. Em menos de 5 horas de gameplay lutei contra 3 chefes ratos gigantes. Galera, calma lá... o que é isso? Não deram nem tempo direito. O pior nem é isso, é que depois vemos mais e mais e mais variantes de chefes de novo. Acho que de gigantes existem uns 7 pelo jogo... rato tem uns 9... cachorrão das trevas? Uns 7 também. É tudo muito repetitivo. E não pensem que não reparei: existem inimigos que são as mesmas variantes de outros, mas com uma carinha diferente. Um é um lobisomem só que invisível dessa vez... o outro é um ''morto-vivo assassino'' que funciona exatamente como o ladrão habilidoso... isso tudo soa como preguiça, como safadeza... Deixem seu jogo menor, nem que dure menos horas, mas não cometam essas atrocidades, por favor. Mesmo boa porção dos feitiços também são variáveis apenas com outro visual. Era melhor fazer menos feitiços do que repetí-los e achar que ninguém ia perceber.

5: Falta de direção. Haverá momentos em que você não saberá como prosseguir. Você terá que entrar em uma das fendas entrópicas e torcer pra achar o portal que lidere até seu destino pra outra porção do mapa. E isso não está dito em lugar algum.

6: Não há reestoque nos vendedores. Existem itens ilimitados e itens limitados. As vezes vai faltar um couro, uma linha, um ferro pra dar upgrade neles. Ai você vai é ter que se virar e ir procurando pelo mapa mesmo já que acabou o estoque dessas coisas. Ninguém no mundo tem mais ferro, gente! Vamos voltar a fazer lanças com madeira e pedra, uga buga! Mas ok, isso é o que menos irrita. Andando o suficiente dá pra coletar tudo, porém entendam uma coisa: eu sei que vocês queriam equilibrar o jogo tomando essa decisão, só que as coisas já estão equilibradas a partir do momento em que eu gasto meu dinheiro com esses itens. A diferença aqui é que eu gastaria meu tempo farmando gold dos ladrões, onde eu sei que tem de sobra, em vez de sair pelo mapa correndo atrás de cada ingrediente desgraçado em localizações diferentes. Ao tomar essa decisão, vocês REMOVEM o poder de liberdade do jogador. Às vezes, alguém quer guardar dinheiro pra comprar uma arma poderosa. Deixe que essas pessoas vão explorar pra manter seus bolsos cheios. Às vezes, quem está satisfeito com seus equipamentos, apenas quer a facilidade, mesmo que isso signifique torrar toda a sua grana. Haja o que houver... a escolha PRECISA existir. ISSO é game design inteligente.

Conclusão: É um jogo para homens, mas sobre cuié. É um metroidvania com elementos de soulslike. Deus do céu, como eu abomino essa junção de palavras ''elementos de ''. É aí que vc sabe que vem um jogo bomba. Quem imaginava em sã consciência anos atrás colocar barra de stamina em um metroidvania? A konami e a nintendo não eram nem loucas de implementar isso. O jogo permite ir até o lv600 mais ou menos, sei lá, ''falaro''. Dá pra zerar duas vezes SE você quiser testar build. Até as escolhas de diálogos são pura ilusão, bem estilo jogos de Persona. Existem acho que três diálogos específicos onde o que você escolher pode acarretar em uma luta, mas só. Se não tivesse DEI, aumentaria minha nota, recomendaria, com toda certeza. Eu sei o que essa ideologia faz com as pessoas e não posso me apaziguar quando vejo isso sendo propagado. Sempre será não para qualquer um que coloque essas porcarias em seus jogos.

[h1]A very enjoyable Soulslike-Metroidvania that deserves more attention.[/h1]

I went into [b]Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree[/b] expecting a brutal final challenge after seeing many players talk about how difficult the last boss could be.

In reality, the fight is much more manageable than people make it seem.
I completed the game using what many players consider one of the hardest approaches for that fight: [b]a melee two-handed greatsword build[/b], mixed with [b]fire magic[/b], [b]bleed[/b], and some [b]life-steal (“vampirism”) mechanics[/b]. Most discussions online recommend heavy magic builds for the final encounter, but even with a slower melee playstyle the fight felt fair and very doable.

The game itself starts a bit slowly. The early hours can feel slightly drawn out while the systems, world, and pacing settle into place.
But once everything clicks, the experience becomes genuinely enjoyable.

The combat feels satisfying, the build variety is interesting, and the exploration slowly opens up in a way that rewards patience.
Most importantly, the game finishes strong. The late-game encounters and progression make the earlier slow pacing feel worthwhile.

[b]Mandragora may not be the hardest game in the genre, but it is definitely a fun and memorable one.[/b]
If you enjoy Soulslike combat mixed with Metroidvania exploration, it’s absolutely worth your time.

Не ждал ничего сверх удивительного, но игрушка меня захватила с потрохами. очень атмосферные локации, огромный выбор врагов(да пускай повторяются. но это не страшно). Сюжет для галочки, но все же он есть и по игре сюжет тебя ведет в отличии от того же дарк соулса. Могло быть лучше...да...Но я считаю что и так очень даже хорошо. Единственное наверно ,что хочу отметить. Разница в сложности между игрой и финальным боссом - небо и земля. Убиваешь всех боссов с 3-7 трая, на финальном больше 30 провел на 1 фазе, 2 изичная. Годная 7-8 из 10. Точно должна быть в коллекции.

Pretty generic souls like with gourgeous graphics and meh class system. Dialogues is something of a disappointment too, one line is something like classic literature and the next is filled with words like "♥♥♥♥" "♥♥♥♥" etc. plot overall is NOTHING special at all, silly "choices" almost every interaction with NPC's.

Personaly played as a mage like charecter a.k.a. "chaos weaver" and it left mixed feelings from gameplay. Pretty strange choice from devs to center mage builds around chance of status or critical, it makes builds unstable, one time you annihilate everything with exploisons and next time you HAVE to WAIT for it to start that chain reaction (i personaly prefer to be more involved in combat by maybe pressing some buttons in narrow timing or combine abilities in a way that strenghthens each other or some other way). another profoundly annoying choice from devs was to make mana restoration a consumable that need to be crafted from plants or bought, that alone created feeling that i play not like wise mage capable of manipulating chaos itself but a junkie that will always need some pick me up hit if he fails to end fight in seconds (and he will fail quite often because his power is chained to a chance not to knowledge or raw power). and lastly i want to say something about gardening mechanic... its dumb? Maybe i dont get something but aren't you suppoused to have MORE seeds after your plant fully grown? Like how those herbs and shrooms reproduce in this world?

Overall its OK game but i grow tired from devs that just want they own Souls game and everytime they fail to do something new with its core once again creating that hollow shell of a game with nice ideas and teadeous descisions.

No suelo hacer reseñas en ningún sitio pero creo que merece la pena cuando la ocasión lo merece. Porque Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree es un juego hecho desde el cariño.

Cuando jugué la demo hace ya tiempo me atrapó por completo: su atmósfera, la banda sonora, el arte, el doblaje, su mundo... Es sorprendente y triste a la vez que un estudio tan pequeño y tan poco conocido (que yo sepa éste es su primer y único juego) tenga más calidad que otros mucho más grandes con muchísimo más presupuesto.

El mundo tiene "vida". Hablas con bastantes personajes y cada uno tiene sus intereses y su personalidad. No es un mundo "vacío" o "muerto" como en otros juegos similares como Blasphemous o Hollow Knight, que también me parecieron obras maestras y creo que Mandragora no tiene absolutamente nada que envidiarles.

Jugablemente además creo que es una gozada. He visto alguna queja por ahí en lo referente al movimiento. En mi opinión no se siente tosco para nada, al fin y al cabo creo que es justo lo que pretende. Estás controlando a un humano. Aquí no esquivas casi teletransportándote ni haces saltos kilométricos. El mapa es enorme, me ha sorprendido lo grande que es y lo bien que funciona. El viaje rápido creo que es otro acierto y hace que explorar sea menos tedioso que otros metroidvanias. Me parece genial también que haya una gestión de inventario y loot algo similar a Path of Exile y Diablo (estoy seguro de que se han inspirado en ellos), creo que es un acierto enorme que encaja a la perfección con este título. Por otro lado, la cantidad y variedad de enemigos es brutal. Más de 100 diferentes!

Hay muchísimos objetos, armaduras, ropa, armas, ingredientes... es una locura, pero no se siente forzado, y en cierto modo el juego te invita a que adquieras mejor equipo a través del crafteo con los personajes de tu "base" y que de vez en cuando te pases por allí para mejorar y fabricar.

Hacía tiempo que no me divertía tanto y me sentía tan atrapado por un universo. Mi enhorabuena a los chicos de Primal Game Studio. Ojalá tengamos una segunda parte en algún momento.

Totalmente recomendado. Lo volvería a comprar sin dudarlo.

Core combat gameplay is extremely boring and feedback / impact / audio design makes it feel terrible to attack enemies.

Powers and abilities are incredibly, extremely uninspired and boring. These devs obviously subscribe to the "no it can't look / feel too cool, think about the lore!" philosophy that is seeing western games (among other reasons) get left in the dust by games from the east.

Massive "talent tree" that really just boils down to a convoluted way to allocate stats and a few incredibly meh perks.

Weapon and armor design are garish, ugly and aren't satisfying to use.

Nice visuals and production value in that regard.

Terrible and I mean terrible music. They could've used AI and had music that was 10x better.

Story is...slow, boring and leaves you with the question "oh, right, stuff is supposed to be happening" because the pacing of the world and game progression is so off.

Crafting and customization is a joke. Like, they got a first year college student to come up with it.

TLDR - Great visuals and voice acting, everything else is pretty bad to terrible. Gameplay design is the culprit for the most part.

10/10 This game is a masterpiece in flawless execution. There is literally nothing negative to say about this game. It is a metroidvania in the full sense that you will explore and find upgrades that let you progress further into the game while having moderate platforming sessions using very high quality controls. You will also get a fully engaging story with all the rpg mechanics you've come to expect. Picture Elden Ring but without the unfair mechanics of the game "cheating"

Controls - Very easy and accurate. Only 1 jump height but it works in this game.

Jumping challenges - Limited - Your grandparents could complete the jumps with ease.

Combat - Simple but quite varied. Many melee and spell options.

Bosses - Easy enough to learn, tough enough to make you die, fair enough to continue through the game without anger.

Boss Run Backs - Minimal, you'll be back in the fight in no time.

Map - One of the greatest thought-out map designs. Especially when you get the map fragments and then the map shows which doors are locked, which floors you can break through, where the plants and ore are located, etc.. The multi layer color coding per section along with the notification of (100% area).

Voice Acting - The entire game is voice acted and it's done well. I adore Yrsa's voice (same VA from Karliah in Skyrim).

Artistic Design - To me, this is where this game leaves me speechless. The artwork, animations, attention to all details, the soundtrack, the ambient noise and effect sounds..... The entire world and level design is done so well it should be in art gallery!

Story - Great! Not very complex but it suited the narrative and was enjoyable throughout.

Developer choices - There is no level cap! There is also multiple new-game+ modes. You can take that same character and go get every skill node if you want to invent the time. The new-game+ modes also have + items to match the new difficulty. Multiple Endings too!

I completed the game in about 40-45 hours getting every achievement but 2, (The grindy kill count achievements), an I instantly started new game +1.

New Game+ - You bring you character, your full inventory, your NPC recipes and NPC training tiers, your level and skill points. You DO NOT bring the movement/traversal skills you unlock during the main quest, you will have to learn them as you do your new-game+ quests.

Ein gutes Spiel, cozy Soulslike, würde ich sagen, da es doch allerhand Quality of Life bietet, auf die meisten genretypischen Ärgernisse (wie z. B. lange Runbacks) verzichtet, auch ziemlich leicht anfängt und sich moderat mit einigen Schwierigkeitsspitzen entwickelt.
Das Kampf-Gameplay ist grundlegend simpel gehalten: Es gibt den Schildblock (der a la Dark Souls Ausdauer kostet) oder eine Ausweichrolle, ansonsten normale und Spezialangriffe, die Adrenalin kosten. Oder man nutzt für Mana Zauber (ich habe aber einen reinen Nahkämpfer gespielt). Daran ist wenig neu, aber es ist absolut funktional und hinsichtlich des notwendigen Timings recht verzeihend. Auch mehrere Gegner (was häufig vorkommt) sind gut bewältigbar.
Die Bosse sind überwiegend interessant gestaltet, einige durchaus etwas fordernd (was dann einen guten Flow erzeugte), Mini-Bosse wiederholen sich für meinen Geschmack etwas zu oft und sind auch zu einfach. Man sollte es mögen, Patterns zu lernen, aber im Grunde klappt das hier einigermaßen intuitiv. Da es umfangreiche Statistiken gibt, weiß ich, dass ich für die schwierigsten fünf Bosse 6-9 Versuche brauchte, für den letzten Endboss 20. 30mal hat mich die "Umgebung" getötet, d. h., ich bin in den Abgrund gefallen. Die Plattforming-Passagen sind aber selten anspruchsvoll. Später spielen Bewegungsoptionen (Doppelsprung, Gleiten) jedoch auch in Bosskämpfen eine Rolle, diese Optionen schaltet man aber erst im letzten Drittel frei, was ein bisschen Schade ist.
Zum Aufleveln gibt es Skill Trees bzw. "Sphärobretter" (also mit Felder, die Attributsbonus gewähren neben solchen mit Fähigkeiten), wobei man zunächst eine Klasse wählt, darunter auch verschiedene Zauberer zur Wahl hat, und ab Stufe 25 Multclassen kann, was den Tüftlern und Optimierern sicher zusagt. Um das Spiel durchzuspielen, ist es aber nicht nötig, sich besonders tief damit auseinanderzusetzen.
Die Erkundung der Welt macht Spaß, bietet manche Abzweigungen zum Erkunden, ist aber an sich nicht besonders frei. Und Schätze lohnen sich, da man "Diagramme" findet, im Grunde Pläne für Ausrüstung, Support Items, Gebietskarten. Die wiederum kann man zu NPCs in den Hub bringen, welche dadurch sowie durch das Herstellen der Gegenstände auch aufleveln. Da gibt es dann den Schmied, die Alchemistin etc. Dass man für manche Gegenstände erst einiges Sinnloses herstellen muss, nur um das Mindestlevel zu erreichen, nervte zwar ein wenig, kam aber auch nicht so häufig vor. Meist hat sich die Progression recht organisch ergeben. Das Waffenarsenal reicht von Dolchen, über Ein- und Zweihandschwerter bzw. Streitkolben bis zum Zauberkram. Die Werte sind transparent (z. B. sogar die Angriffsgeschwindigkeit) und man kann Runen zur Spezialisierung einsetzen (auch auswechseln, die Ressourcen reichen locker). Kein übermäßig breites Angebot, aber die Waffentypen spielen sich unterschiedlich und funktionieren auch auf ihre Weise, soweit ich das ausprobiert habe (zu Magie kann ich nichts sagen).
Optisch gibt es nichts auszusetzen, die 2,5D-Elemente stören nur ganz vereinzelt: Wenn man mal im Eifer des Gefechts nicht ganz erkennt, dass eine Plattform schon zu Ende ist. Die Sicht auf die Spielfigur wird nie verdeckt. Kulisse und Soundtrack sind eigentlich immer atmosphärisch, Dark Fantasy typisch. Wobei mir bei den Tracks die bisweilen progressive Songstruktur aufgefallen ist, dass Melodien auch mal stärker variieren und ein Thema verarbeiten. Das ist also nicht der Standard-"epische Chorus".
Auch die Gegnervielfalt ist in Ordnung. Wenn es Gegnervarianten gibt, dann verfügen die stets über andere Fähigkeiten oder Eigenschaften: Das eine fliegende Auge strahlt in Frequenz eine Schadensnova aus, das nächste hinterlässt eine Giftspur, das dritte schießt einen Strahl bei Blickkontakt. Die verschiedenen Hexenmeister-Typen haben unterschiedliche Zauber auf Lager. So etwas eben.
Die Story ist solide, mehr aber auch nicht. Einige Elemente - z. B. die Inquisitoren-Kollegen, die zu Beginn eingeführt werden - bleiben lange vernachlässigt. Im späteren Mittelteil hat das Pacing einige Längen. Am Ende zieht es dann aber an und holte mich auch für einen zweiten Teil/DLC ab (was klar angedeutet wird).

Alles in allem - wie eingangs gesagt - gut: 7,5 / 10.
Wer ein klassisches 2D-Soulslike mit Metroidvania-Elementen sucht, das sich auch sehen sowie hören lassen kann und einigen Spielumfang mit wenig Längen sucht; wer Dark Fantasy mag und über das eine oder andere Klischee hinwegsehen kann; wer eher sanft gefordert werden möchte, der hat hier bestimmt einen Fund gemacht.
Ich hatte es im Sale für ca. 23,- € erstanden, der Vollpreis (39,99,- €) wäre mir dann doch etwas happig für das Gebotene.

Oh yeah, this was a really great Metroidvania with some weird quircks here and there.
The game looks and sounds great and the music is ...well..there. But nothing memorable.
Gameplay can change a lot between builds you can do so I can't really say anything about that. Spells felt fine to utilize tho.

Most of the playthrough I stuck with my initial class by default until in the lateish game I got stuck to a ..certain.. boss for quite a while. The current build was just so slow to cast it's spells that I couldn't manage to fight it at all. (Died like 60-70 times..) So I had to change my build to a melee one just for that one. Otherwise I don't really have anything bad to say about the game. Bosses were mostly fun to learn and fight. A lot of same bosses were reused tho so there's one flaw I can say..
I wasn't lost in any part of the game, secrets were clear and well indicated. There was complete % on the map that you could follow to find more secrets too.

I recommend this game overall. It's not that expensive and you can even get it on sale quite often.
Fans of more "dark soul-ish" metroidvania players will like this one.

The game is close to being incredible, but every time it disappoints.

I've barely been here 10 hours and I've already noticed major problems (apparently, the end is even worse...).

Too many traps or other things that kill you in one shot, it's just back and forth for nothing and it doesn't add difficulty, just die and retry, too many traps make the game frustrating.

All bosses have summons to make the fight harder, otherwise they would be too easy.

I've already faced the same rat boss four times and several other identical bosses with the same pattern...

I have the best gear possible for my level, well optimised, and my skills are well balanced, yet I feel like everything kills me in 2 or 3 hits.

Monsters jumping out of the screen and inflicting enormous damage on you for free...

Not enough equipment. I still have my starting weapon because I don't have anything better, even though I've completed 100% of all the previous areas.

Some quests are too high level in low level story areas, so we struggle for nothing because the boss is 30 levels higher than us.

The demo is the best part of the game.

The story, gameplay, mechanics and puzzles were great. My only critique would be the difficulty spike with the last boss, I had so much trouble and I'll admit I had to turn his damage down a few notches.

Эта игра свалилась на меня неожиданно, но зашла на все 100 %.

Получил её в подарок, до этого даже не слышал про такую. Настрой был скептический: «Ну, ещё одна метроидвания, чего там…» Но игра моментально зацеила - первые 50 часов пролетели быстро. Боссы, секретные локации, боевая система - всё это цепляет и не отпускает. Правда, боевая система сначала кажется какой‑то… деревянной, но это временно.

Что реально зашло
Визуал. Картинка радует глаз в 99 % случаев: закаты, подземелья, пылающие города, монстры, боссы, эффекты магии и ударов - всё выглядит сочно и атмосферно. Никаких визуальных просадок, глаз не устаёт даже после десятого входа в игру.

Саунд - просто огонь. Музыка не надоедает, не режет уши, а наоборот - задаёт "вайб" на каждой локации. Звуковые эффекты монстров - отдельный вид искусства: рыки, крики, визги и хрипы звучат так, как и должны. Сразу понимаешь, кто перед тобой - и хочется либо завалить, либо сбежать (зависит от уровня).

Прокачка - чувствуется. Сначала кажется, что уровни особо ничего не дают, но после очередных 10‑ти уровней персонаж начинает нарезать рядовых мобов быстрее, а боссы уже не убивают так быстро. В НГ+ это ощущается ещё ярче - можно перебросить очки в другую ветку и раскрывать персонажа по‑новому.

Бестиарий - не скучаем. Монстров много, они разные, и убивать их не надоедает. Боссы - отдельная тема: некоторые реально заставляют попотеть, а их мувсеты не повторяются (кроме родственных типов - крысы, демоны и т. д.). Не так сложно, чтобы выбеситься, но достаточно, чтобы подумать над тактикой.

Реиграбельность - да, сэр! Прошёл на НГ+, потом на НГ+1, потом на НГ+2 - и всё ещё цепляет. Боссы становятся жёстче, ваншотят уже не с одного удара, а с 0,75 удара, и это заставляет менять билд, пробовать новые комбинации способностей и искать слабые места.

Спорные моменты
Боевая система - зависит от класса. Я играл за кинжальщика‑ядовика (местный аналог роги из WoW), и мне в целом зашло. Но есть нюансы:
Первая треть игры: способностей мало, комбо не клеятся, ощущения «вау» нет.
Вторая треть: появляются ключевые скиллы - и процесс ускоряется, становится веселее.
Конец игры: руки наконец‑то растут откуда надо, комбо получаются, боссы падают быстрее.
Проблема в том, что за другие классы играть не так драйвово - баланс явно перекошен в пользу определённых билдов.
Способности - мусор vs имба. Есть скиллы, которые читаешь и сразу понимаешь: никогда не возьму. И даже улучшения не спасают - они такие же бесполезные.

Сайд‑квесты - награда не стоит свеч. Да, есть парочка забавных и интересных, но лут за них такой, что можно сразу выкинуть в мусорку. Кто‑то скажет: «Ну зато лор же!» А я отвечу: «Ха!» - про лор ниже.

Где игра реально подвела
Сюжет - проходной. Стандартный, заезженный, видели уже тысячу раз. В 2026 году такое как‑то… неуместно. Понимаю, что метроидвания — это не про историю, но тут сюжет настолько серый, что даже не запоминается.

Крафт - 50/50. Для моего класса 90 % крафтовых шмоток стали бесполезны уже с первой трети игры. Зато расходники (банки, бижа, еда) сделаны на уровне. Но вот беда: ингредиенты для крафта постоянно заканчиваются, и ты либо бегаешь их фармить (раз в Н-количество часов), либо играешь без баффов - а это уже минус к эффективности.

Левел‑дизайн - боль и страдания. В некоторых местах я умирал от внезапных падений раз пять подряд, и дело точно было не во мне (ну, почти). Иногда кажется, что дизайнер уровней был не в себе, когда создавал эти участки. Плохой левел‑дизайн убил больше нервных клеток, чем боссы. До сих пор помню, как потерял три уровня, упав в пропасть, а потом возродился, побежал за душами и умер точно так же. Классика.

Расположение костров - мем уровня «дарксоулз момент». Чтобы добраться до босса для реванша, нужно пробиться через орду мобов и перепрыгнуть кучу ям. К моменту подхода к арене ты уже вымотан, и босс тебя просто добивает взглядом.

Финальный вердикт
Игра хорошая, но не идеальная. Есть моменты, которые хочется пофиксить, но в целом она стоит того, чтобы в неё поиграть.

Купил бы я её сам? Нет.
Хороша ли она в качестве подарка? Абсолютно!

Если вам нравится:

метроидвании с открытым миром,
прокачка и создание уникальных билдов,
боссами, с которыми придётся повозиться, но с ума не сведут,
исследование локаций в поисках секретов,
- эта игра вам понравится.

Overall a really solid souls-like metroidvania. I used an ultrawide mod to play it at 3440 x 1440 and it worked almost perfectly so it makes me wonder why the devs didn't put ultrawide support in on their own. I got this game on sale and it was very worth it. There are many build options for your character and the combat is pretty satisfying. Like people have said, some bosses get re-used a lot but FROM does the exact same thing in their games and people still love them so it is what it is. I didn't mind that personally. I really love the art in this game too it's gorgeous and I hope these devs make another game like this or a sequel.

Game becomes painfully obvious that your class choice matters heavily in regards to the second half of the experience. Watching people with magic classes breeze through bosses that I had spent over an hour defeating was lame. Melee is just not it, and its one thing to be challenging, but it also became less fun more than anything. It was fine, wouldnt recommend tho to be honest.

Amazing game:
- great combat
- very good bosses (though some of them repeat quite often)
- gorgeous graphics and drawings
- very good dark & gloomy setting

Overall amazing experience with some little things now and there, but nothing major. For fans of metroidvanias / Ori games and soulslike games. This game manages to bring the vibe of Ori and twist it into a souls vibe.

I am not a very big fan of the kill 10.000 monsters achievment though. Still would definitely recommend.

✅ Качественный визуал, арт и анимации. Игра выглядит дорогобогато.
✅ История зашла, особенно по началу. Как я понял, с нарративом помогал Брайан Митсода, это создатель Bloodlines. Поэтому следил за повествованием не без интереса, диалоги не скучные, местами даже цепляют. Атмосфера мрачной сказки выдержана хорошо.
✅ Боевка доставляет. Есть возможность комбинировать классы, но глубины не хватает, я в основном проходил за мага с одним набором скиллов от начала и до конца. В целом работает, но хотелось бы чуть больше вариативности.
✅ Что мне действительно понравилось, так это платформинг, изучение мира и всякие секретики. Вот это сделано реально круто. Без перегибов и занудных участков🥰

Good game ruined by a unfair final boss.
Played Rogue and game was hard but you could still learn the patterns. Then the last boss comes and he 1 or shots you. I have used consumables for more health or resistance, magic absorption all the stuff you can think off doesn't matter. Still get 2 shotted. You have to dodge his attack, orbs flying in the air. avoid ♥♥♥♥ on the ground, travers platforms, heal npc while doing damage to him. So stupid. I've finished elden ring, hollow night and played sekiro cup head and bunch of other difficult games. Won't be bothered to finish final boss. Read ranged classes can defeat it easily but will never know.

Mandragora absolutely blew me away.

最近购买的最值的游戏之一，如果你喜欢魂类游戏，类恶魔城游戏，那这款游戏非常合适，美术设计很棒，地图设计的还行，复杂度适中。主角各种属性好像设计的过于复杂，但也还好。人物动作设计，感觉比之前玩的神之救赎单一一些，不过也还好吧，我只玩了几个小时，Boss感觉难度适中，还是比较推荐的，没买可以先试试Demo版。

Очень жалею, что не рефанднул в первые 2 часа. Но за это время данный "шедевр" не успевает себя раскрыть. Плохо сделано всё, кроме арт дизайна.
1) Боёвка. "Давайте сделаем каслванию, но шоб как соуслайк, с стаминой. УЭЭЭЭЭ!" В бою персонаж себя ведёт как кусок желе, причём не самого свежего, анимации - длинющие, хитбоксы - не кривые даже, они просто "типа есть". Комбо как таковых не обнаружено, играл за мага, мб, у "воинов" работает иначе. Арены с боссами - отвратительные, рич боссов придумал явно фанат Бабадзаки, но, который уж слишком сильно любит боллбастинг стальными шпильками от домин ростом с леди Диметреску.
2) Платформинг - фрустрирует донельзя, персонаж практически не управляем, залезать на уступы на геймпаде сущий ад, сдвинул курок на милиметр - всё, прыгаем вниз.
3) Ловушки. Я сначала думал, что для обхода маятников нужен особый навык какой-то внутриигровой, потом понял, что там нужно ловить пиксели, а, напомню, двигается персонаж как несвежая желешка. И атаки врагов кувырком можно задоджить, а вот маятник - нет, дружок, лови пиксели.
4) Торговцы - "Здравствуй, башня Орокин! Здравствуй, милый нитаин! Каждодневный душный фарм, за тебяяяя я жизнь отдааам!" © Кто понял - тот поймёт, кто не понял - чтобы получить возможность крафтить и покупать что-то хуже тир 0 предметов придётся гриндить как в Рагнарок Онлайн, в сингл, мать его, плеерной метроидвании.
5) Про боссов в боёвке уже пожаловался, но они, во-первых, скучные, во-вторых, половина из них спаунит постоянно адов, которые не делают бой интереснее, а только и без того мелкую арену превращают в минное поле. Бой с Петером это вообще какой-то анекдот категории "Г". Хоть, концептуально, он мог бы быть очень хорош.
6) Прокачка - "Уэээээ! Давайте возьмём ну эта, древо талантов из ПОЕ, только ни хрена ещё не будем пояснять, что за что отвечает, уээээээ!" У меня 3 всевышних образований и времени копаться в недоступной фекстралайф нет, чтобы билд не запороть, потому что гипотенуза и котангенс.

В итоге получается нечто, которое собрано из кусков кастлы, солсов, ММО гриндилок и "РПГ", только этот гомункул настолько уродлив, что полюбить его могут либо законченные мазохисты-извращенцы, либо те, кто с выше указанными жанрами не был знаком никогда, либо кто-то, кто вылез из бункера, в котором сидел с 2007 и решил теперь приобщиться к играм.

Хороший платформер с интересной боевкой. Не заметил, как пролетели 40 часов. Хорошо спроектированная карта, постоянно открываешь какие-то новые локации, пути, возможности, не можешь остановиться и сказать: "Ну на текущий момент сделал все, что можно".

Отличная графика, приятная рисовка, только для 2д платформера жрет слишком много ресурсов — на 5090, в 4к и ограничении 180 кадров видеокарта работает под 100%.

Хороший интерфейс с подсказками, словарем, бестиарием, коллекциями и картой. Практически все идеально, единственное не написано где и какой моб спавнится, даже локации не указано, из-за этого пришлось искать информацию в интернете, чтобы выполнить достижение на бестиарий.

Очень много различных механик, типов урона и эффектов. Сделаны они качественно, но к сожалению игра вообще не раскрывает этот аспект. За все прохождение я вообще ни разу об этом не задумался. За все прохождение я сменил всего две пары клинков и два комплекта кожаной брони. Практически не использовал всякие элексиры и еду, т.к. супер душно собирать ресурсы для них, а толку не так много. Использовал всего два вида рун для оружия и брони, под свой билд, остальные вообще ни разу не пригодились.

Очень много навыков, но я качал просто зеленую ветку по мере получения уровней, особо не задумываясь — все вкладывал в урон. Игра за это никак не наказывает. В принципе она не сильно сложная, всего пара боссов вызвали какие-то сложности и то, пока не выучил их скудный мувсет. И это практически без использования каких-либо фласок и масел.

Сюжет не сказать, что сильно плох, но очень примитивен. Все твисты читаются с нулевой. Возможно это сделано специально, но в том числе и из-за этого вся история достаточно скучная.

В общем игра не плохая, но не раскрыла весь своей потенциал. Было прикольно побегать 40 часов и повыполнять все ачивки.
