圧倒的に巨大な建造物（メガストラクチャー）のある世界を舞台に、ピッケルを手にし、果てしない探索を進めていく作品。弐瓶勉先生の「BLAME!」や、「ICO・ワンダと巨像・人食いの大鷲トリコ」のような世界観がお好きな方には遊んでみてもらいたい作品…なのですが、終盤はゴリゴリの高難易度死にゲーと化すので安易にお勧めできないです。

随時オートセーブがかかるため大規模な巻き戻しはないものの、系統としては「Getting Over It（ツボおじさん）」や「Jump King」といった作品に近い成分を持ちます。日本語化されていますが機械翻訳なため、会話・ストーリーの品質はお察しといった感じ。

・自由度は思ったほど高くなく、ピッケルが刺さるのは限定的な地形・素材
・目的地表示がフンワリしすぎており、ルートが全く分からないシーンも多い
・終盤に向かうにつれてアクションはかなりシビアになり、突破に数十回以上リトライする場面も
・生存と死亡の判定が微妙過ぎる箇所も多く、納得感は全体的に低め
・最終的には「時間制限の中で要求された動きを完璧にこなせるかどうか」というゲーム性に着地

序盤と終盤でゲーム性が大きく異なり、どうしてこんなことに…と感じるゲームはしばしばありますが、個人的にはこの作品もその1つでした。自分でルートを考えながら着実に、時に大胆に地形を踏破していくタイプの作品を期待しており、序盤はその毛色が強かったのですが、終盤に近づくにつれてどんどんと単なるトライ＆エラーの死にゲーになっていき、ラストのステージではそれが極まっていたため、クリア時には達成感よりも解放感の方が勝ってしまいました。

メガストラクチャー好きな方には触れてみてもらいたい作品でもあるのですが、終盤の難しさ・理不尽さはアクションゲームが苦手な方にはまず突破出来ないだろうと確信できるほどなので、安易にお勧め出来ないのが残念です。最終ステージ突破実績解除者は23％ほど。4人に3人はクリアしていません。

自分はパッドでプレイしたのですが、この作品は「スムーズな壁ジャンプ」がクリアに必須になってくるため、「LT：ピッケル RT：ジャンプ RB：グラップルフック LB：空中ダッシュ」に割り当てました。壁ジャンプは「LSで壁に向かってジャンプ→空中で壁に触れつつRSで次に飛びたい方向へカメラを向ける→その状態でジャンプボタンを押し、LSでも前進操作」という流れになります。

デフォルトだとジャンプがXboxコンのAボタンなため、その状態では右手でRSとAボタンを行き来して壁ジャンプを行うことになってしまうため、恐らくスムーズに繰り出すことが出来ないので注意です。

Весьма сомнительная игра. Вроде по сути это должно быть меланхоличное похождение по мегаструктуре с паркуром, Но нет, при первом заходе в игру разрабочик советует включить "раслабляющий режим" и несовсем понятно зачем. Но стоит попробовать пройти игру без него то в целом абсолютно ничего не поменяется за исключением последнего уровня. Словами не описать какое у меня было состаяние после этой пытки. Этож надо было додуматся такого и наложить ГОВНИЩА в самый конец. А я играл в режим забега.... где выход = конец. После двух сотен безуспешних попыток прохождения кишечника (когото?) решение о нажатии сочитании клавиш alt+f4 незаствало себя долго ждать. Эйфория отсутсвия хоть малейшего понимания гейм дизайна. Я готов был смирится что саутрек скажем прямо тут унылое дерьмецо на 2/10 сделаное абсолютно без вкуса, а сюжет буквально "мне надоело сидеть на одном месте пойдем попрыгаем" Единственый плюс игры есть нативная версия под linux. Желаю разрабочику научится делать игры, а не подкладывать говна людям котрые зашли отдохнуть. Стану ли я рекомендовать эту игру? ну если только проходить в реслабляющем режиме или вообще не играть.

I got this expecting some kind of contemplative but tough exploration game, like a spiced up walking sim. This is not it. Even on "exploration mode" - which reduces difficulty - it constantly felt like I'm eating a fistful of nails while getting smacked in the head with a plastic oar: the only feelings being a rollercoaster of confusion as to how to proceed and frustration at the tightness of the jumps.

I'm not a parkour gamer, I never saw the appeal of these things, and this - for better or worse - is indeed such a game. And that's okay; but if you're looking for the same thing as I was, you won't find it here.

I absolutely love this game, it so0o0o0o0o cool exploring these levels and getting lost in them. The movement is great, i love collecting and Lorn's Lure sure does have some collecting aspects in it. I'm not the biggest fan of the ending as I prefer that slow pace of everything else. I highly reccomend this game, it's a delght!!!!

I found out Lorn's Rune through Twitter while it was still in development. After a long while I decided to give it a try. Here are my thoughts.

The game nails the PS1-PSP aesthetic and atmosphere. The UI is minimal and simple soundtrack allows you to focus on the climbing/parkour gameplay. The controls are not that great, the player acceleration feels like you are running on ice, the wall-jump does not work like you think it does, and the fall death threshold feels very tight.
The lore is interesting, and for a climbing game it is decent. It is by no means comparable to other platformers like Celeste, but it gives you enough to build an atmosphere and keep your imagination busy.
In terms of creativity, the levels range from intriguing to stale. You are going to have the most fun for first half of the game up until chapter 4, afterwards the game gets a little repetitive. By far the worst level is chapter 8. The obstacles feel intentionally placed to make the level obnoxious but not necessarily difficult and the music alone is enough to give you a headache. Seriously, play that level on mute.
The collectibles are placed in awkward locations and you should definitely use a guide if you want to get 100% achievements.
The biggest praise I can give this game is that level design is sometimes surprisingly on point. Just when you think you are just about to get out of bounds, somehow you've instead stumbled on the intended path. You always feel like you are in the right place, its crazy.
Now, in terms of difficulty; this is not a game for an amateur player. Even seasoned players will find sections of this game challenging. It is a game that does not take the time to teach you how to play, it just gives you the controls, and assumes you already know how platforming works. It demands mastery of things like stamina control, mid-air strafing, dashing, and more without ever having perfectly polished mechanics.

Overall, this game is a good pick for those who enjoy exploration and parkour, and a good choice for a something to spent a weekend playing. 6/10

Too much frusraiting pixel-perfect jumping. Falls which will kill you are way too short. Pickaxe climbing is very limited, only to 90 degree rock walls, and tic tac jumping is too difficult and unpredictable to maneuver. Making lots and lots of trial-and-error gameplay. Pickaxe climbing and air-dash and such cost stamina which you have too little for the maneuvers which you are expected to perform. The levels have some unpolished geometry in which you get stuck too easily.

Otherwise it has a good game idea but it's just unpolished.

🔥 Что зашло:
• Гениальная первая половина: Первые четыре уровня — это мастер-класс атмосферного хоррора. Комбинация акрофобии (жуткие падения с душераздирающими звуковыми эффектами), мегалофобии (гигантские сюрреалистичные структуры), клаустрофобии (узкие пещеры) и никтофобии (погружение во тьму, ограниченный контроль) создаёт уникальное давящее ощущение.
• Визуальная поэзия разрушения: Low-poly эстетика в духе "заброшенного индустриального ада" с потрясающей детализацией разложения и упадка.
• Сюжетные намёки: История про андроида в гибнущей Мегаструктуре подана через экологичный сторителлинг — обрывки записей, странные артефакты и многозначные финалы.

💀 Что не зашло:
• Неуважение к игроку во второй половине: Уровни 5-7 — это позорный спад: линейные коридоры, скучные повторяющиеся механики и полное отсутствие того самого хоррор-волшебства. Всё переходит в плоскость "для спидранеров".

💡 Итог:
• Первые 4 уровня: 8/10.
• Вся игра: 6/10 из-за провальной второй половины.

Does a very good job of capturing the scale of megastructures in a way the player can still interact with. The environments are varied and engaging and the music while not outstanding fits the vibe perfectly. My only problem was the final level feeling like it didn't fit with the rest of the game at all. Recommended for the artistry, the interesting atmosphere, and because it's an indie game. But out of 8 chapters, the first two are amazing, a few sections are okay later on, and the rest is bland or annoying. The first two chapters are captivating and enchanting and exactly what you expect when you get the game. After that, the game (literally) falls off hard. Very rarely felt satisfying or fun after chapter 2 and chapter 8 was one of the worst levels I've played ever. Maybe only worth playing on Explore mode.

I quite enjoyed this. Climbing around a mega structure that is clearly built without anyone in mind, with all these broken down or destroyed robots and weird ass glowing glitching creatures.

It was a path finding 'puzzle' game that never truly let you get too lost, having the glitching owl showing you the path constantly [at least the direction of where to go], and then if you truly have no idea where to go [felt that way with Ch 2 needing to collect the mold flower] you can press H to give you constant waypoint of the next section you need to do. I felt that was really well done, giving players a hint in game, instead of needing to find a YT video showing the path [I did need a video specifically for Ch 6 for one specific jump where there's a strong wind constantly blowing you.

I would recommend this game, I did mald at times, particularly on the final chapter but anyhow - 9/10

[h1] Lorn's Lure is SO CLOSE to being perfect, but fails at crucial points.[/h1]

I am currently at level 3, but the tilted wall after the goo chase urged me to write a review. I do recommend everyone to play this game, as it is a refreshing and fun time spent compared to other games that the market can currently offer. Lorn's Lure has upsides like unique gameplay and surprisingly immersive atmosphere. The game does a good job... actually a spectacular job at entertaining you for how simple it is. I am currently having fun with the game, and intend to play it out fully. The difficulty is not my concern as I have played NUMEROUS other movement/platformer games.

However the game design aspect of LL is at times BEYOND infuriating due to how inconsistent the behavior of terrain is. Compared to other 3D movement games like Titanfall2 and Apex Legends, or compared to 2D platformers like Hollow Knight or Celeste, The game attempts to add difficulty to its traversal by turning terrain unstable or unclimbable. Problem is that this difference in behavior is hardly ever noticeable by the naked eye, and only climbability can be measured by a HUD indicator.

Reality is that there will be a non-negligible amount of surfaces you will have to GUESS the behavior of. The behavior of a tilted surface can be walkable, slideable, or wall-jumpable. Nothing but your intuition can truly tell which one of those 3 will happen whenever you land on a tilted surface. There are other offenders on top of that, such as slide jumps and wall jumps varying in height for an arbitrary reason, being unable to wall jump on slightly tilted or close together walls, certain pipes sliding you off to the side when it would make sense if you could just walk on them, fall distance being deceptively short, etc.

The game expects you to be literal with your intentions, almost making you fight against the game, instead of working together to create a fun yet challenging experience. The base movement resembles the aforementioned Titanfall2, while interactions with the terrain almost border Rainbow Six Siege level of clunkiness (FPS comparison because I haven't seen another FPP platformer I can make a relevant example from). So when you make that wall jump, you have to deliberately line yourself up to the wall and look for the cues that a jump is in fact available, instead of just expecting that it is.

Minor complaints would be that light bouncing sound in level 3 is beyond annoying for how much you have to spam it in order to see clearly, the charge time for it is too long, the lights somehow z-fight (possibly linux only issue) which makes dark areas even more tedious to deal with.

Overall despite all of these issues, the game has a great premise, and is a fun experience whenever it does behave the way you expect it to.

It could have been really special but it's evident that the latter chapters were not thought of nearly as much as the early ones. I'd even go as far as calling it "rushed." Not only do they spike in difficulty, but the atmosphere is largely lacking compared to chapters 1, 2, and 3.

Where this game shines is easy-to-medium difficulty first person exploration and it does it extremely well in the early game.

However, the difficulty rapidly spikes near the end and it becomes something more akin to a "rage game," which feels like it entirely betrays the atmosphere. I'd have much preferred if the difficulty stayed consistent throughout the entire game. Then it might just be a 10/10 game. For now though it's maybe a 7/10.

I'd still get it. The early-to-midgame is fantastic. But they fumbled right at the goal line.

When I began this game, I had no complaint whatsoever. However, as many others pointed out, the difficulty spikes exponentially towards the end, especially in the last chapter. Now a difficult game is not a bad thing if it promoted as such. The main description of the game says "atmospheric narrative first person platformer" and it does indeed deliver what it promises, but the last few chapters make the whole atmospheric part pale as you can only concentrate on parkour, which is unfortunate because Rubeki clearly knows what he's doing in terms of vibe, I loved every part of the story and atmosphere. My personal favorite chapters were 2 Fallen Biome and 5 Undercity. And don't get me wrong, the difficulty is actually well crafted, you can actually finish the game like I did, it's just that it takes you a lot of time to learn all the obstacles and details. But you can see the meticulous planning put into the difficult levels.

Do I recommend this game in spite of my only complaint? Absolutely, it clearly has more positives than negatives. In fact, the difficulty is the only negative thing I have to say, which is not even technically negative, just something I don't prefer. It's a cinematic experience and it takes you through a lot (phisically and mentally). I think everyone should try at least a few chapters to feel lost in the whole megastructure. Each chapter has a unique vibe, setting and story. I think Rubeki is on a path to become a master in this subgenre of games and I for one am willing to play anything he makes from now on.

If you ask me, the perfect Lorn's Lure 2 (and I do hope a sequel will materialize one day) would be full of chapters like 2 and 5(with unique atmospheric narrative elements but also fair challenges) and even 3 which goes the opposite way: claustrophobia instead of megalophobia. And a separate part that is full of difficult levels but which you don't have to finish if you want to finish the story.

And as a side note, I tried the Meganaut demo, which is the same thing, but different haha. It's set in the same Megastructure as Lorn's Lure (at least from what I understand) but it delivers a more peaceful and eerie experience. And I saw he is also working on some sort of plane driving game set in the same universe as well. This is why I trust his vision, I think he will deliver a whole franchise of these Megastructure games and I can't wait to try them all.

Decent game. The gameplay is pretty trial and error, but I think for the most part the game is interesting. You explore in giant maps and figure out a path, and you get some new movement abilities as you go. There is a decent amount of momentum involved with jumping and sliding and it feels good to parkour around. The music is also pretty and it fits the superstructure well.

There are eight levels in this game and I think the first seven are pretty good. The eighth was kind of fun but going from relaxed exploration game to time trial with loud music was very jarring. Also it feels like it lacks playtesting because there is a checkpoint beneath a ceiling that crushes you and you have to literally start moving during the black load screen or you die.

I think this game would be a great game to grab on sale. I would also recommend trying to refrain from using the hint feature that places a waymark. I used it in a few levels where I was totally lost but I think the game does a decent enough job of pointing you in the right direction through environmental design.

И да, есть достижения из дополнения, так что дополнение придется купить, а оно такое себе, пару карт, и все.

К паркуру (с элементами скалолазания) привыкнуть сначала сложно, но радует что можно карабкаться почти по любой поверхности, используя экипировку. It'd good, and I thought the level design was thoughtful. It is a little slow paced for me. If you're into something without combat, but containing tons of vibes and mood and is slow paced, this is for you. I never felt like I mastered (or truly understand) a lot of the mechanics so I stumbled around drunkenly for a few hours. But I think fondly on this game and I'm glad it's here.

Lots of potential, some aspects of the movement system(like tic tacing) feel clunky and as if a little polishing could massively improve the game overall. For a game where vibes are very important, it isn't very atmospheric and looks kind of dull and flat. NaissanceE, another seminal megastructure game, produced a much greater sense of awe due to its interesting geometry and dramatic lighting -- without even using textures!

The controls are finicky. You can't climb the wall if it is not strictly 90° vertical. If it is 89 or 91 degrees it suddenly becomes non-climbable. You don't see your feet or shadow, so you have to guess where exactly you are standing or going to land. I've completed 7 out of 8 levels, played for 15 hours, and still had very little confidence in the outcomes of slides, surfs, wallruns or walljumps. They often didn't connect, launched me at wild angles, and felt unreliable.

Level design nosedives really quickly. Chapter 2 is the best level in the game with an interesting look, varied traversal, verticality and a sense of scale. Later levels quickly become more and more miserable and reliant on trial and error. In chapter 7 you make blind jumps in the dark for an hour. Chapter 8 is just abysmal. It introduces a new mechanic (grappling hook) and, after a short tutorial, throws you into a timed section that is 100% trial and error. You enter the room, have 1 second to look around, then die. Repeat a dozen times until you figure where to go next, then die another dozen times trying to execute the movement. Enter the next room and repeat. I threw in the towel and quit.

Like, some of the decisions are truly baffling. The grappling hook has no aiming reticle by itself. The screen is empty. During gameplay, you need to precisely aim at small targets (while flying through the air) BASED ON VIBES lol. When you load a checkpoint, there is a second long fade-in during which the game is already running. In chapter 8 I was loading into a ceiling immediately crushing me. The solution? To blindly run and jump forward while the screen is still black. Was this playtested even for 5 minutes?

lorn`s lure - игра про мегалофобию, мегалованию и прочие мегаштуки. Она крайне самобытна, в ней вы должны пробираться в недра древней мегаструктуры, давно покинутую всеми, кто был причастен к её созданию, а те, кого вы находите по пути являются узниками её стен. И ощущение своей маленькости - это главная фишки игры. Так почему отзыв негативный? Дело в том, что хоть в игре есть пара странных моментов и всего 1 объективный минус он напрочь кроет все позитивные моменты игры.

[h3] - касательно странностей [/h3]

Некоторые аспекты местного гейм дизайна являются весьма спорными. Например, идея с урановыми факелами. Главная их проблема в том, что они освещают едва ли пол квадратного метра, а я напомню, что местная структура настолько огромна, что в её прослойку между стен можно впихнуть всех людей живших на земле.

Также вопрос возникает касательно крепких поверхностей, ибо цепляться кирками за них нельзя, хотя зацепившись за мягкий камень можно плавно переползти на железобетон.

Кривая механика ветра тоже без внимания не останется. Здешний ветер это без преувеличений проклятая вещь, он может как легонько подвинуть персонажа, так и отшвырнуть его на пару десятков метров, если же при воздействии ветра вы оторвались от земли, то можно сразу рестартать.

Самый же странный элемент геймдизайна притаился на самом легком 5 уровне. Учитывая, что он едва ли не вдвое меньше любого другого уровня, так на нем есть самолетики из листов стали, которые просто везут вас в обход всех препятствий. В итоге из 5 полос нужно пройти только 2.

[h3] - А теперь про это... [/h3]

Однако самое вонючее отродье притаилось аккурат в конце игры. Финальный уровень это просто б л ять пытка. Во-первых, после всей игры медленного и размеренного геймлея, здесь надо буквально бежать, так как спустя время произойдет коллаборация с haste и на огонек придет мерзость из-за спины. Причем мерзость эта движется практически с максимальной скоростью пешего перемещения. Во-вторых местный гад будет спавнить в дверных проемах фрикадельки, что спустя время наглухо закрывают проход. В-третьих здесь появляется механика хука, и это самый кривой хук что вы в жизни могли бы видеть. Местный хук это аналог русской рулетки, ведь он может как погасить скорость падения, дав вам мягенько приземлится, так и перенаправить скорость, просто размазав вас об стену. В-четвертых местных поплывшие блоки - блоки, что визуально во всей каше нормально не читаются еще и обладают багаными хитбоксами, в результате чего частенько происходят ситуации, когда прямо перед носом блок вытянулся на 2 метра в вашу сторону и вы разбились. И как будто этого мало здесь в некоторых местах по необъяснимам причинам появляется ветер. Я уже молчу про то, что все сие действо происходит под адский вой сирены, красные огни на фоне красной жижи смерти.

upd. Забыл сказать, что в этом турбо туннеле персонаж получает смертельную скорость едва ли не моментально, ну и в качестве подкрепления перечитайте поинт про хук.

После невероятной атмосферы, интересных испытаний и нестандартных платформинг секций подобное воспринимается даже не как плевок в лицо, а как персональное оскорбление всей родословной. Поэтому для меня в игра закончилась на 7 уровне, ибо вот такое я терпеть не намерен.

The first half of Lorn's Lure is pretty much everything I could've wanted out of a platformer about mega structures. The atmosphere is dense, the scale is felt, and traversing the alien, inhospitable environments was as important as the platforming itself. There is a lot to appreciate here that makes it truly one-of-a-kind. Sadly, I think large stretches within its second half were so sloppy that I ending up feeling disenchanted by the whole thing, however. Suddenly the obtuseness and fragility of traversal, which was previously effective at reinforcing the atmosphere and setting, became very frustrating in a way which made the artistry hard to appreciate anymore. What was left was frustration or the feeling that it had overstayed its welcome. This is true especially because of chapter six and the final level which requires so much precision and trial/error progression that the immersion is broken beyond saving.

Definitely a fun little game to play. Also unique that this game doesn't hold your hand; you have to think about things a lot. Reminds me of Portal 2 somewhat. There's only 8 missions in the game and it doesn't take super long to finish them. But hopefully, more people start playing this game so that we get tones of custom maps. One thing I would prefer is that the story was explained more, or is more easily shown if it is already explained. Like, where are we? How did civilisation get here? How big is the planet?

Great game, lots of fun. Interesting story too, though I won't spoil much of it here.

The atmosphere is on point throughout the entirety of this game, and there is just something so fascinating about traversing the immense verticality of this unknown, mysterious megastructure that is captivating. I wanted to keep pushing forward less so for the challenge, and more to see where I was going next. The entire game reminds me of "BLAME!" and I would love to see more of it.

Definitely give it a try if you like exploration and climbing games!!

This is a really good movement parkour game. 'Really' good.

It offers a very linear point A to point B kind of campaign but the environment has plenty of secrets and lore that tell of explorers that have come before you. Some secrets I couldn't find without New Game + due to the sheer size of each map.

Speed-runners would have a good time with the optional "Simulations" that give challenges based around the mechanics and upgrades you get throughout the game. Main Story also has timers for each level if you want to challenge yourself with how fast you complete the levels.

Music is awesome, the composer Phrakture did a wonderful job (the Simulation track is funky).

A failed attempt at following a tried and true formula - where what you MUST do to complete the game is easier than what you CAN do if you were to challenge yourself. Ultimately, you'll learn that exploring further by challenging jumps and straining to reach every potential secret spot will lead to nothing far more often than it leads to hidden environmental storytelling or additional secrets/lore, so you'll learn not to waste your time, essentially discouraging exploration in this exploration game.

I was especially disappointed to find that in some of the transition spaces and challenge paths abruptly end with no way back to the original proper path. This forces backtracking back into the original path instead of flowing back. This is both lame and easily fixed, but even worse, it's something that this dev has been specifically critiqued on in previous games with no seemingly no improvement. :(

C+, story with a couple big issues - the first time I saw a live person, almost 20 hours into the game, it was completely unceremonious and low key. Note that for the main character, this would be the first time he's seen a live person in 800(?) YEARS. And he just walks away without a care??!?!?!? There's also additional storytelling in this part of the game which appears to have been cut, with a door that has no way of being opened, but the game hints that there's a way to open it . . . . hoping that this is some kind of secret and not cut content that was accidentally left in the game.

I was unable, (and upon researching, so were others) determine whether things were scannables, part of the story, etc. No idea whether you're looking at the setting or deliberate storytelling.

I would begin the beginning fully expecting that even the average player is going to get soft locked and/or experience fairly significant bugs. The developer tends to straight up remove things they think aren't functioning correctly, and will do so without adequate testing, leading to even more bugs. :(

Some climbable materials are labelled as not climbable, got stuck climbing inexplicably. Just so much polish and bug fixing needed all around.

Other bugs I experienced include the terminal velocity alarm randomly stopped working, and I often will dying when technically the game is saying I was safe (on 2/3 velocity bars) Unreliable checkpoint system, it's never clear when you're safe and should take a risk jump, might set you back 5. Just more things that discourage exploration.

Unlike virtually every other game, the mid and end game are the least polished aspects of the game and I found them to be significantly worse quality and less interesting than the beginning. Bascially a different art style altogether . . . I don't even mean this in an opinionated way, towards the middle of the game there is literally objectively LESS environmental story telling and detail around.

Challenge level not consistent, some beginning levels had difficulty spikes that seemed more difficult than the challenges found in the later levels! VERY ODD, nonsensical choice to change the physics/player jump height mid game. Ultimately this did not add anything to the game, as all obstacles now just became farther and you floatier, but the challenge level unfortunately felt MORE forgiving than before. My number of death's went down significantly.

While I feel split between good and bad review, I've decided to go with positive one.

The game really feels rewarding, when you walk and climb through decaying megastructure and exploring various nooks and crannies, only to find another piece of lore. The initial feeling of vast, dead space, where everything is long gone is slowly replaced with more metaphysical and philosophical exposition, which I was not really fond off.

The core premise is kept all the way to the very end: You are always arriving "after something happened", only exploring and collecting little scraps of information, or clues from those who were there before you. In some places, the world is more alive, however even in these sections, there is clear feeling, that there is no future. So you press on, move forward, further into labyrinth of ancient halls, rotten pipe work and derelict nonsensical structures. The world itself is the main character here.

However I have feeling, that game is heavily frontloaded: Basically the first half of the game gives you enough velocity, that it carries you through weaker, second half. On other hand, the first few levels on it's own are so good, that the game is worth it just for them.

I'm split on this. The first 5 levels are fine, 60%, but the last 3 levels are absolute garbage. I don't believe this game was playtested at all. The movement is floaty and imprecise, and the falling height that kills you keeps changing while also being too limiting. The ambience and music are fine, but the sound design is terrible; the waterfalls of sand and water barely have any directional audio, and footsteps and climbing sounds are mind-numbingly repetitive. The random texel density is robbing objects of their scale. This whole game is literally downhill from the first level and introduction to The Wall. The final boss fight and ending are incredibly unnecessary cringe. Please don't add narrative if you have nothing interesting to say. Such a shame, there is a great and polished game in there...

I really wish I could recommend this game, but unless you're specifically looking for an intense platforming challenge I can't do so. I don't want to call it a bait and switch, because it doesn't advertise itself as exclusively an atmospheric exploration piece, but that aspect of it is largely the entire reason I bought the game. And I can't enjoy that because I'm too busy stuck on challenges I didn't sign up for and don't have the patience to deal with when combined with how obtuse the path forward is at times and how precise you have to be to get across it. I think those things are totally fine to have in a game, don't get me wrong. But that's not what this game was sold to me as and not something I have an interest in dealing with when you also add in how inconsistent the actual physics of the game are. If the result of a motion was more predictable, then maybe it would be different. But as is I can not recommend this game unless you are looking for that level of frustration out of it. And even if you are, I'd recommend Getting Over It instead unless you want this specific atmosphere, because at least that *is* consistent in how it plays.

This game is a very solid 8/10 if you want a great platformer/parkour experience. It has a great atmosphere and truly makes you feel minuscule when compared to the megastructure. Both the art direction, the areas, and the music will make you feel melancholic, creeped out, or awed.

It does have a few issues:

I would say that at times the level design is very annoying — the game cannot clearly show how you are supposed to get to your destination, and you are left somewhat stuck trying to find the correct ledge to jump to.

The HUD is completely unnecessary for the majority of the game, as it doesn’t tell you any relevant information. It only shows your stamina and that you are about to die when you can’t do anything about it. Thankfully, you can just turn it off with V.

Some of the abilities, like the long jump and grappling hook, are given to you way too late. The long jump should be given to you at the start instead of in Chapter 4. The grappling hook is given to you in the last chapter, and it is followed by the hardest trial of fire known to man.

Lastly, the pick you use to climb feels very antithetical to the rest of the game’s mechanics, as it slows you down to a crawl and isn’t even all that useful — the best levels in the game are those that rely very little on it.

But even with all these flaws, I think that the overall levels, challenges, atmosphere, music, and chase sections (of which there should be more, tbh) make it a very worthwhile experience, and if you can, you should pick this game up — even if it’s not a 10/10 masterpiece. :)

Kind of cool, not gonna lie. I love mega structures. But this game is hard. I'ts parkour and you'll get stuck a few times. I've given up after 2,5 hours (around 15%) into the game. I would love some sort of easy mode - i have no interest in the gaming aspect of it. I'm here for the atmosphere and exploration aspect. But that is severely hindered by the gameplay.

So, i kind of still recommend it, but only if you also like parkour.

I honestly wanted to love this, and I really did, but once I got to chapter 2 I found that this isn't for me. The level design becomes very inconsistant with that you can and can't climb on. The tic-tac isn't easy to pull off either at the level the game seems to want you to be able to do right off the bat. Was a really amazing game like nothing I've ever played, then it became a chore. Not fun.

Lorn's Lure is the best megastructure game out there, and I've played many. The first level is exactly what I've always wanted in this type of game. The visuals get across exactly what they're supposed to, and the path is very well disguised. It really feels like you're exploring somewhere you aren't supposed to be. The controls are unforgiving and have a real learning curve, which is great to me as a souls enthusiast. When you get it you feel like you've earned it, so the overall experience is very satisfying.

If every level was like the first, this might be might literally be my favorite game of all time. I suspect the slow drift away from the megastructure vibes at the same time as it morphs from feeling like real exploration to a parkour map both forming a starkly obvious comparison between the opening and ending is the source of many of the negative reviews. Additionally, after about 40 hours getting familiar with the mechanics, the last level (which I have only beaten 4 times) still kills me. Being forced to estimate a parabola in first person with slightly different input velocity and direction every time while on a time crunch makes it feel like less of a learning curve and more of a gamble, which reduces the satisfaction somewhat. However, those grievances were addressed with the addition of an easy mode which completely replaces the last level.

The DLC is well worth it as well.

Понравился уровень с лазанием по узким пещерам, где нужно выкидывать фаеры, очень атмосферная локация, вызывающая чувство клаустрофобии, даже если её у тебя нет. Повествование и сюжет не впечатлили, по ощущениям они здесь ради галочки. Могу порекомендовать эту игру только любителям мегаструктур, и то можно найти варианты поинтереснее. Один балл за мегаструктуры, один за локацию с пещерами и еще один за динамичные сегменты, которых в игре не так уж и много. 3/10

Не купуй це друже. За що палець в гору? за перші 60-70 відсотків гри де дійсно круто коли ти видираешся на велетенську башту і дивишся на те що ти подолав за гарну музику і атмосферу цивилізаціїї що гине. А далі? а далі біль. нерви.... Ти здасишся друже рано чи пізно а якщо дійдеш до кінця ти скажеш собі - якого я на це потратив свій час.

I don't hate it but...

Cons:
My main complaint is the climbing just does not feel good.
I had a few time where the game chose to save me in a point where I was less than 1 second from dieing.
The wall jumps feel a bit janky and in some spots it was difficult to tell without hitting a wall if it would even allow my to wall jump or not.
Jump height also seemed to change on a per level basis.
Sometimes when I fell I would hear the death beep and not die from my fall even if I fell onto a near flat surface.
Some levels had very low contrast and or distractions making it hard to tell where I was supposed to go without the purple hints.
I would sometimes try to jump to an area and reach it but the next time would fail to reach it.
The wind on the wind level felt really bad, it threw me into death pits or onto safe locations at random, it also was weird that it will throw me around like a weigh nothing but if i am on a wall it has no effect at all.

Pros:
Many locations had beautiful scenery, reminded me of Rain World.
Only clipped through the walls once.
First speed section was fun.

i really enjoyed the game. love the mechanics, the vibe it gives off ( kinda rain world-y :P ) and how subtle and vague it is about revealing lore. the only real problem i have is the black fade in after restarting. while its not really an issue normally, [spoiler] during the chapter 8's chase sequence its really annoying, since the obstacles that you have to avoid still move when the fade in is still present. and while you can move right after restarting when the black screen is still hasnt faded in, but you dont really see where youre going. [/spoiler] but otherwise i REALLY enjoyed the experience!

On paper this game is so far up my alley, I love Tsutomu Nihei's work and megastructures in general, I love movement games and exploration, etc. The problem is the game barely works with any sort of consistency and you barely end up seeing much of the structure, just kinda boring caves or uninteresting caverns with occasionally visually interesting biomes.

The main thing is the controls though, this is what I mean by barely working with any sort of consistency. Sometimes you'll stick to the wall for a wall run, sometimes you won't. Sometimes you'll kick off from a wall run, sometimes you won't. Sometimes you'll mantle onto a ledge, sometimes you won't. Sometimes you can use your climbing hooks to stop a fall, sometimes you can't. Sometimes your air dash will stop you from falling and carry you upwards a bit, sometimes it won't. Sometimes your grapple will connect, sometimes it won't. Sometimes you'll die falling at two speed marks, sometimes three. Sometimes you can kick off a wall to stop that, sometimes you can't. Sometimes you'll just slip and slide off a completely horizontal surface, sometimes you won't. Sometimes you can walk up a pretty steep incline, sometimes you can't.

The list goes on, it either feels completely random or it's programmed at such specific angles that it might as well be, the game wants a precision that it just doesn't support well mechanically. By about the half way point it stopped feeling like it was solving movement puzzles and more like I was janking my way through the game in ways that never felt fully intended if at all and every realization of what I'm meant to do making me frustratedly say "oh come on are you serious." The final level really culminates it all too with check points that'll kill you if you don't move perfectly immediately on top of really loud, droning "music," I had to completely turn off the sound eventually and I'm writing this with a headache that's a combination of the music and frustration. And then the game ends with "it was a dream, none of it really mattered, but hey you did it!" ♥♥♥♥♥♥ COOL.

If they made you stick to platforms better, didn't completely take away your options above a certain speed, made all your tools more consistent to actually use, and either entirely removed fall damage or drastically increased the kill range then it'd no ♥♥♥♥ jump up like 5-6 points on my scale even with the last level. I can handle a healthy challenge but this last level wasn't challenge, it was unbelievable tedium. It's just so sad and annoying that this went from a game I was so excited to play to never really wanting to boot it up again.

The question posed by the Steam form is, "would you recommend this game to other players?", and no, I wouldn't. "Occasionally frustratingly hard" it says on the Steam page, but I didn't find the difficulty compelling, or overcoming it cathartic, so if I were to recommend the game to someone because of its good bits, I would condemn them to experiencing all of the frustrating bits.

This game, unlike NaissanceE, has gameplay, which would be a good thing if the core idea behind its challenge was well thought out. So in megastructure games, you would usually be presented with a huge location and perhaps some direction you need to go in, and the challenge would be, "How do I get there?". In NaissanceE, in earlier chapters at least, the "puzzle" was to stop and scan your surroundings to spot a safe path, occasionally with a platforming challenge that you would usually be able to take slowly, but overall, if you screwed up and died, you would know that that was your fault for not taking it steady. Lorn's Lure on the other hand makes precise platforming its primary challenge, and instead of "How do I get there?" it makes you ask the question of "Do I really need to jump on this inch-wide sloped pipe/piece of rebar hanging over the bottomless void to get to my destination?", and the answer is yes, yes you do. You're gonna be dying a lot in this game trying to make the jump, hundreds of times per chapter even, and dying is the worst way to punish the player for their mistake of not being precise enough, especially considering the game does not let you take it steady or otherwise improve your odds of traversing the terrain without dying; and it also makes you question the narrative of the whole journey, because there is no way it is mathematically likely anyone could make it with such odds of dying.
The game expects you to make use of ledge grabs and tic-tacs (wall jumps) which are not reliable to pull, and as with any platforming challenge in this game, you need to be performing them above bottomless void. Another thing this game has is terminal velocity, it is difficult to gauge when you enter it, and every drop is either 100% safe or 100% fatal, and there are a lot of jumps that are right on the edge of the two. Plus it is pretty much impossible to break off a terminal fall, if you think you can ease your landing by using a near-vertical slope, that'd be as fatal as flat ground. Similarly, you need to be using climbing picks a lot, and it often hard to judge whether you have enough stamina to climb all the way up or if just about don't make it and plunge to your death. The checkpoints are usually generous enough, almost on every ledge along the main path, though I am not giving the game a credit for it because that's the only way to make this sort of gameplay even remotely playable; and the game would occasionally be a prick and put you through a section with no checkpoints.

There are 8 chapters in the game, every one of them contains at least one section where you need to do precision platforming on inch-wide pipes, but otherwise they have varied gameplay gimmicks and challenges, and each one provides a unique change of scenery, and pretty much each one of them individually takes as long to complete as the whole of NaissanceE. The levels usually play out linearly, and it is exceptionally rare that you would find something of interest outside of the intended path. Chapter-by-chapter:

[*] Chapter 1 is the most representative slice of this game, giving you the sense of aesthetic of the game (perhaps the best looking chapter) and the general challenge, including yes, inch-wide platforming.
[*] Chapter 2 is more or less a thematical continuation of Chapter 1, a "vertical metroidvania" of sorts where you more or less have the whole vertical level at your disposal, except traversing it is entirely about inch-wide platforming with terminal drops.
[*] Chapter 3 first starts you in dark claustrophobic caves, which I found speleological entertaining, the terminal drops replaced with equally terminal water (you're a robot after all); then it gets into an inch-wide platforming section in the dark which was not too demanding on precision, and caps it off with a very lenient timed challenge, the only thing I minded about which is that the environment was just plain ugly.
[*] Chapter 4 makes you traverse an aesthetically-pleasing ruined temple with relatively trivial platforming challenge, most of which the game even lets you skip in favour of a leisurely boat ride, then caps the level off with another instance of inch-wide platforming.
[*] Chapter 5 just drags oooon and ooooooon. It starts with an extremely annoying, stressful and long section of inch-wide platforming where you essentially crawl on the ceiling, then gets you into a quite dull little town (The Undercity this chapter is called, except it doesn't take up more than the third of the chapter) where you do some precision platforming with no floor, and once you exit the town, you do even more precision platforming.
[*] Chapter 6 makes you traverse a system of deserted caverns and ruins. It has some nice free-form platforming sections where you're allowed to take it steady and find a safe path, that is if the chapter does not make you interact with its gimmick, the gimmick being, winds that push you around, winds that appear in arbitrarily-mapped areas and are not well-telegraphed, and at the end you would have to climb a tower where the challenge would be figuring out, "if I take one step in that direction, will I be blown away?"
[*] Chapter 7 is set in a ruined stone city; there are a handful of interesting locales, but otherwise the level looks dull. Gameplay-wise, it is about trying to spot a ledge along a vertical wall to jump on, and this lasts two hours.
[*] I didn't actually mind the ever-derided Chapter 8 all that much, not gameplay-wise at least. It starts you by giving a grappling hook and making you do some precise platforming with it, and then puts you into a tight timed gauntlet in an uninteresting-looking environment. It took me two hours, and I died like 400 times which is the most for this game, but the game made it clear to me that "this is Super Meat Boy now", and it for once did not demand that much precision from me, and the grappling hook is plain fun to use.
[*] Explorer difficulty for Chapter 8 is an entirely different level where you exercise your grappling hook skills in an open level. The level is as dark and as dull as Chapter 7, but gameplay-wise I enjoyed it the most, because the challenge was "How do I get there", and it didn't require any precision platforming, while still offering opportunities to mess up and die if you're not taking it steady.

After you beat all of the chapters, the game allows you to replay them in NG+ mode which gives you all of the tools from the onset, and it makes the game genuinely fun! The annoying sections, the grappling hook allows you to bypass most of them, and you otherwise has a lot more opportunities to take the levels your way, be it steady and safe or quick and risky. Too bad you have to get through the entire game first the way the developer intended.

Each chapter also contains a set of collectible crystals mostly alongside the main path, and collecting all of them for a chapter unlocks a short challenge level. Collecting the crystal usually involves doing a platforming challenge that is possible on the first playthrough, but the game contains a lot of points of no return, so it makes doubly so more sense to go for them in the NG+ mode.
The unlockable challenge levels ("Simulations") are short platforming challenges, each of them beatable in maybe up to two minutes if you have the skills to, but otherwise they take many dozens of tries to figure out, and they don't have checkpoints so every time you die, you have to start over. They are hard, but that's fine because they are explicitly framed as optional challenges.
