Ein paar der Kommentare sagen zwar, dass man irgendwann gut genug ist, das Spiel zu schaffen, aber... keine Ahnung.
Wenn ich mit 4 Leuten anfange und nach wenigen Runden bereits 12 hochlevelige und schwer bewaffnete Gegner meine Basis raiden... und alle töten... ich weiß ja nicht. Da bekomme ich den Eindruck, der Dev will gar nicht, dass man das Spiel spielt. Kann er haben.
Klar, ich könnte auch cheaten, mir auch 12 hochlevelige, voll ausgerüstete Arschlöcher dahin rotzen... aber wozu dann noch spielen?

Fun survival/rogue-like game. It is really challenging but you can tailor your first number of games on an easier setting. As you complete scenarios you'll earn points which will allow you to purchase new and interesting characters to bring with you on your future missions. This little game packs a big punch, and is not for the feint of heart. The price point is well worth it for me, and I encourage others to give this a chance if the theme/mechanics appeal to you.

Não dá para mudar a resolução da tela. O game tem gráficos muito bonitos e uma história interessante, mas a jogabilidade me pareceu confusa. O pior mesmo é não poder ajustar a resolução, pois ele fica fixo em 800x600 em janela, não dá nem pra maximizar ou deixar em tela cheia. Uma pena.
Link ist ein klasse Spiel wenn man auf Spieltiefe und eine zufallsgenerierte Welt steht und sich nicht von der Pixelart Grafik abschrecken lässt. Ein Spiel dauert selten länger als eine Stunde und man verliert schon regelmäßig, was aber bei einem Rougelike-Game auch nicht verwundern sollte. Auch ohne eine aufwändige Anleitung weiß man nach dem Tutorial wie die wichtigsten Dinge im Spiel funktionieren. Den Rest kann man mit der Zeit herausfinden.
Mit drei gewählten Charakteren muss man eine Base zum Laufen bringen und gleichzeitig eine Außenwelt erkunden. Neben einer tiefen Charakterentwicklung ist auch das Anfertigen von Equipment unerlässlich um ein Spiel zu gewinnen. Die Siegbedingungen eines Matches wählt man selbst aus. Je nach der Schwierigkeit der gewählten Ziele bekommt man mehr oder weniger Punkte mit denen man neue Startcharaktere freischalten kann.
Die Außenmissionen sind spannend und abwechslungsreich. Man kann z.B. zufällige Charaktere retten oder einen Boss besiegen, damit die eigene Basis nicht von übermächtigen Gegnern überrannt wird.
Der Basenbau ist komplex und fordernd, da nicht jede Ideallösung auf jedem zufällig generierten Basenlayout möglich ist.
Für mich ist Link ein Superspiel, das neben "Worshippers" des selben Entwicklers so schnell nicht von meiner Festplatte gelöscht wird! Ich werde es wahrscheinlich nicht so oft spielen wie andere Strategiehämmer wie "Dominions 5", aber immer mal wieder ein Spiel werde ich wie bei FTL immer mal wieder wagen.
Daumen hoch für alle Strategie- und Rollenspielfans die auch mal verlieren können und genug Grips haben ein komplexes Spiel zu begreifen.
Daumen runter für Leute die aufwändige Grafik brauchen oder die sich nicht in ein Spiel einarbeiten wollen.
I got this in a bundle once and when i played this i honestly thought this was some sort of 90s game. The default resolution is like 800x640. The UI is awful. The graphics are on par with the average RPGMaker game (that's bad). The tutorial doesn't help much. And you're going to die without really knowing what went wrong. In my case i tried to fight an enemy. I managed to throw a knife at it, but for some reason (lord knows) i couldn't attack it with my pipe. It killed my warrior in 2 turns. And then i thought, you know, i could've spent the past 10 minutes playing something that's at least remotely competently made.
I really tried to like this game, but I just can't.
You can't even adjust the resolution of the game, and it is very very small. It is an RPG for ants.
Unfinished, so because of this, I can not recommend!
The game is bad, it seems that the devs didn't take the time to balance the game.
Either that or they were aiming for really short play time.
Enemies are overpowered with infinite ammo and in massive waves.
While the enemy has it made, you have to balance your sleep and heat and still be able to get some sort of equipment to be able to stand a chance.
If you want to experience what it is to start with all odds against you, buy it, else, FORGET ABOUT IT.
This is not a very good game, but only paid a buck so i guess i got my monies worth. Im okay with the graphics, but man the small screen is soooo small. Just not fun to play.

A promise of something, that could be a fantastic game, a survival against the cold, harsh alien world.
We definitely need games like that, incorporating resource management, skill progression and turn based combat.
Unfortunately this game isn't it.
I will skip graphics and audio part. Graphics is 800x600 and attempts to switch to full screen will make this game unplayable. Audio is stock, but doesn't annoy.
The real problem with this game is gameplay.
Apparently, this game was not play-tested, or if it was, it was playtested by someone with a wciked sense of cruelty.
You see, this title is one, total RNG bullsh1t.
There is no difficulty setting - each and every game will see you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ right up in the back end of your gastric system.
Of course, challenging games can be fun, but in 'Link' this isn't even challenging.
Let me show you what I mean.
The rescue mission, lowest difficulty. Survivor starts at the exact opposite end of the map. Your guys rush to them, only to run out of stamina (it regenerates 1 point of stamina per turn, so if you have 5 max, you need 5 turns to regenerate it to max).
You move your survivor towards rescue party.
What happens? Lowest mob moves towards your survivor and kills it with two hits.
Amazing. Or perhaps survivor spawned with a sniper rifle, in which case it may be the only character to survive, whereas your rescue crew will be ganbanged by 3 spiders.
Seriously, there is no difficulty progression. Base attacks, the very first one, will pitch your tiny group of soldiers against a horde of 8-12 aliens, many of which will be top tier units capable of killing your soldier with ONE hit.
Honestly? What was supposed to be a challenging fun, was revealed to be frustrating RNG hell.
What else? Generic loot, limited skill choice and upgrades (for example you can only research one of four techs per branch, characters are limited to like 5 skills).
Constantly growing threat level, even if all you do is just farming for food.
Constantly dropping heat and stamina levels, heat drops even when a soldier sleeps (wtf?).
This crap is really not worth playing. I say this with a heavy heart because I had expectations for this title.
Unfortunately, this one is not a game to be lightly tossed aside. It is a game to be thrown away with great force - and with regret.
I'm pleasantly reminded of FTL, among others, and the game mechanics are fantastic. TLDR, Buy it.
Main differences between Link and FTL:
- Space combat -> squad combat,
- Dialogue-tree missions with narrative text -> Squad combat missions, trying not to die of exposure or raiders
- Journeying through space -> Protecting your base, and gathering resources from nearby
- Brave Spaceman Seeking Danger On An Adventure -> Tired Spacemen Trying Not To Freeze Or Starve Or Get Murdered By Snow Jawas And Their Stompy Robot Spiders
- New game : Choose what ship to play each game with -> New Game : Choose team-members and victory conditions
- Unlock new team members instead of new ship types
You start with three people in your base / crashed ship. You build different rooms in the space available, which can passively gather resources, or perform useful tasks when you have a person spend their turn there. Your team members can level up and gain abilities from a skill tree, and if they have the right ones they're better at using some buildings than others, or have bonuses in combat. There's a surprising amount of deep and well-balanced resource-balancing strategy here, only some of which I've uncovered.
Your main resources are fuel, food, tools, and knowledge. You also have characters, which spend stamina and heat to perform tasks, health and heat on away missions, and can die if mismanaged, or be rescued and added to your team on some missions. Food is used when characters rest to regenerate stamina, tools and knowledge are used to make buildings and equippable items, fuel is used to heat the furnace room (or the entire base, if you upgrade that room enough). You can upgrade rooms to higher tiers, and some of the higher tiers require access to power, which requires building a power generator next to them and keeping it running via having someone spend their time there every turn.
Away missions seem to fall into three groups -- 1) scavenging for items without freezing to death or getting mauled by bandits, 2) hunting various tiers of badguys to make them less likely to storm your base, 3) trying to escort characters from the wrong side of a map over to the exit zone, so they can join your team. Available missions change slightly over time, so it's worth checking every once in a while. The stamina system takes getting used to, though. Every combat turn, you regenerate as much stamina as you had left at the end of last turn -- so sure, you can technically do four things in a turn if you want, but if you do you'll be limited to doing one a turn until you take a few turns to sit still and breathe and let your stamina regenerate. Meanwhile, everyone who paced themselves is doing two things a turn all fight, because they paced themselves... ...but sometimes, if an enemy has just one hit left, it's worth it to spend the extra stamina just to kill them before they can attack you again. Or is it? Combat also involves an armor stat, melee and ranged attacks, weapons and armor and trinkets that you have to figure out how to craft all by yourself, and of course various special abilities you can spend XP on when characters level up.
And then there's the laboratory building, where you can research all kind of things that give you special benefits to any of the above systems -- like having your heat meters all go down half as fast, or having all buildings produce twice as much of their resource type.
What I'm trying to say is that they did a very good job of keeping the core number of variables simple (food, fuel, tools, knowledge, buildings, and characters that can do stuff at buildings), and then adding all kinds of very reasonable upgrades and complications for people who know how to make it work. The only thing in between me and the very difficult victory conditions is my own lack of knowledge of the game -- but I'm learning and improving every time, and every loss I've had is because of a choice I made, and not bad luck. The unlockables provide a nice goal to reach too -- someday, I'll have unlocked every character, and done every victory condition at least once.
This game was a pleasent surprise for me. The game was alot more nuanced than alot of the people give it credit for. Now, I paid about a buck for this game, and it was very worth it. Is it worth $5? Eeh.... maybe?
This game plays as a series of short campaigns. You build, you manage resources and you send characters on tactical missions, but before long you either succeed or fail the campaign. If you succeed you get points to unlock new characters for the next campaign. It's unforgiving, but if you lose, you aren't losing much because the games are short. Either way, you notice things you could improve in your next game.
The tactical element is not immediately intuitive but is interesting. The stamina system lets you overexert your characters at the cost of future actions, and does it very smoothly. Mistakes here can get characters killed in a hurry. The system is complex without being cumbersome.
The base-building is surprisingly nuanced as well. You start off with practically nothing and there's a very sharp growth curve that you have to keep up with, or you get overwhelmed.
Rogue-likes this unforgiving are usually too stressful to be fun for me, but since the length is short it's much less frustrating than losing a run of, say, ToME or Don't Starve. It feels like a fun challenge, rather than a game that makes you scared to take risks. I think Desktop Dungeons is the only other game to really pull that off.
Not a huge amount of content, but definately worth a couple bucks. No bells and whistles on the presentation, but if you can see past the graphics the game itself is solid.
An initial learning curve will curb quite a few players but if one is resilient enough to keep playing the game, they will find a good amount of depth in the gameplay.
Besides the obvious detracting factors of the game, I think it is still worth giving a try if you like a challenge.
A simple and interesting game : graphics arent awesome, but at least the adventure is worth 4.99€ : you always wanna do"one more turn"...
Great game, If you like FTL and other permadeath games get this one, it is great fun. "Too hard / stupid soliders" comments in some bad reviews ignore the game concept and should not be taken serious.
With ALT-RETURN you'll get fullscreen and the grahpics are nice, when you gotten used to them after a couple of hours.
Getting to know the game mechanics and as such becoming better at surviving with every new game was great fun for me - I recommend the game strongly.
Quick, clever, and exceptionally brutal, this is a roguelike done right.
Its interface is a bit cumbersome, showing its rpgmaker roots, and I'm pretty sure I heard a sound bite straight out of Chrono Trigger in the prologue, but the mechanical crunch is just as good as Endless Dungeon - only on a shoestring budget.
If you're determined to explore the rpgmaker ghetto, this is one of the games that makes it worth the trip.
Be prepared to spend your first few runs not really knowing why you failed. Don't sweat it. The learning curve is deep. Once you've got a handle on it, you'll feel like a genius.
In the meantime, there is rather a lot of frozen tundra to die in and only a single oil drum fire to huddle around, so be prepared for a bit of a bumpy ride.
Link suffers from a great many faults, not the least of which is the one you encounter right out the gate... Its resolution. It has a screen resolution for ants. I don't mean it is small, I mean it is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tiny. You can use Alt-Enter to go full screen, but then it will look and feel horrible to use. Mind you, the horrible feel does not go away at window mode, it is just less noticable because everything is so small. The user interface feels sluggish and awkward in turn.
Game crashes, a fair bit more than one would expect for a simple X-COM knockoff. I don't get where they think there is anything rogue-like about this, this is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ X-COM. It is actually why I had it on my wishlist, I like X-COM.
But I don't like this. Where X-COM ramps upward in difficulty Link kicks you in the balls and laughs about how it has stacked the deck against you before sitting down and dealing you a hand. Any cockups with your resource management will kill you, the margin for error is so stupidly small you will regularly be ruined by no true fault of your own.
Inexplicably the game's icon is of a red dragon head, I don't get that, probably a relic of a previous game they were using the engine for and just forgot to provide their own for the new game.
There are moments of Engrish, where it takes you a second to realize what they are trying to tell you. I know one should not hold some spelling and grammar against a game, but it is dreadfully unprofessional.
I wanted this to be fun, and strategic, and engaging - I got buggy, and random, and frustrating.
Link needs some major redesign of the early game and a much better quality assurance team before I would ever recommend it to anyone but the most die-hard of X-Commanders looking to test their mettle.
very good game, with two seperate types of gameplay. The neat thing is though, at the start of each playthrough you get to set your own objectives from a list. The game ends when you meet the objectives, so you can design your own level of difficulty.
In the base-building section you construct buildings. You have to worry about production, adjacency bonuses, and the balance between teching up and using what you have to produce items useful in the short term. Fun and interesting system with a couple little quirks, what gives it replayability is that you pick a crew of 3 people from a list of 20ish, and each has a special bonus. a number of the bonuses give a different room type which changes up optimal layouts, and presents interesting new design choices.
In the exploration/combat portion of the game you move around and fight hostile aliens. The system uses action points. Moving a square, attacking, and using a skill all simply cost 1 AP (although one or two skills cost 2 AP). The interesting wrinkle here is that you regenerate AP equal to your leftover AP from last turn (minimum 1) For example a starting character has a standard 5 AP. He can use two, and then refill to full. if he has to do something important he can use 3 (down to 2), and then refill back to 4. from there it is easy for him to just take one the next turn, or keep using 2 a turn at 4 instead of 5, so that first extra was just kinda borrowing. if something really bad happens and you need to use all 5, then you end up spending 3 turns recovering before you can do anything. Lord help you if something else attacks you while you recover.
The tutorial doesn't cover enough (you level up by clicking the character's empty skill slot), the game sometimes crashes when loading a mission, I ran out of objectives to complete before I unlocked all the characters, and there are still a couple little typos, but overall I highly recomend this game

I'm not even going to complain about the resolution. I can only see that being a problem if you play this game on the television, and this game has much more serious issues. Namely, we need numerical readouts for things like Stamina, Health, and especially Heat. Secondly, I'm not sure if this is a bug, but you only get Requisition for tasks if you complete ALL of them. What a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Also, maybe an option to continue playing (or select new goals) after completing your goals? Because right now, your only options are to choose the three easiest goals for the guaranteed requisition and then not to get to play the game, or to try to play the game and not get rewarded for it at all because this game is HARD (easy mode plzdevs, I think the option to turn off heat management in-base would make all the difference to be honest).

All that being said, I HIGHLY recommend this game. It's a deceptively simple, laid-back, base management, squad management, resource management, roguelike that is very inexpensive. People ♥♥♥♥ on the graphics and resolution, but if you are older than 13, that won't be a problem for you. I think the graphics are great and really reinforce the atmosphere of the game. Also, be warned, this game is quite difficult. I'm a veteran of roguelike and strategy games, and in this game you are just juggling one too many things at a time to ever be able to keep up. The sound is okay, but you won't miss it if you turn it off. That, for me is actually a big plus because I can listen to my music or I can listen to the game. The controls can be a little unresponsive at times, but everything is turn-based, so you'll be fine. This game is $5 (and often on sale for way cheaper than that) so you really can't go wrong if you like roguelikes or strategy games.

This is a good little turn based survival strategy game. Expect to lose the first couple of times while you get the hang of it. In the end there are a variety of strategies to employ, and you need to constantly manage life/heat/food/fuel/rest to keep your colony running.
BE WARNED: The game runs in a very small resolution and is not resizeable. I got the game on sale for $1, and for the price the small resolution did not bother me. But you should know this before you purchase, as if this is a deal breaker for you then you should stay away.

So this is not a polished, deeply involved game. The dialogue in the tutorial is rough. The resolution isn't good. (Though the Alt-Enter trick to make it full screen helps considerably). The graphics are serviceable.
It's a fun little survival roguelike, however. You pick three characters to start and pick three goals from among a list of easy and difficult tasks that comprise your winning condition. You then give your characters tasks each day to build up your base, gather resources, sleep, explore, etc. Win or lose, you get some points that you can use to unlock new characters to choose from in your next play through.
There is quite a lot of variety in characters, skill upgrades, and equipment. Combat is straightforward and brutally fair. There's a real risk of dying all of the time, which keeps you engaged.
Would I have wanted to pay $25 for this? No. Was it worth my five bucks? Definitely.
Un juego que pasa por debajo y me llamó la atención desde el arranque. Supervivencia, bits, un toque de The Thing (por así decirlo), muchos ingredientes de lo que hace que un juego me atraiga muchisimo. Y despues de haber jugado un buen rato, lo recomiendo... previamente aceptando las siguientes premisas:
- El juego tiene MUCHO por pulir. Sus opciones son pobres realmente. Solo te dejan retocar el tema del audio. Y el juego es en ventana minima. No podes agrandar la resolucion.
- Si bien el tutorial ayuda, el juego es otra cuestion. Complicado desde su inicio, te incita a que lo intentes y reintentes para que puedas ganar una partida. Complejo, no apto para aquellos que quieren jugar algo facil.
- El punto mas grande que tiene en contra (a mi gusto) son los logros. Este juego esta hecho para que tenga logros y no los tiene. Desde la incorporacion de todos los personajes (que hay muchisimos y cada uno con perks diferentes) hasta la resolucion de quest.
En un resumen general, es una gema que tiene deformidades e incluso, es opaca. Con muchas pulidas, el producto puede quedar muy interesante y que el juego se potencie de maneras increibles.
Recomendado por el momento de que lo compres si lo ves con una buena rebaja. Si se pule todo y termina incorporando lo previamente dicho, es una compra obligatoria siempre y cuando disfrutes de este tipo de juegos.

Can I really slate a game that cost me only €3.99?!? Well, here I go...
I sort of feel sorry for the dev here as I've read a comment of his where he stated that a change in graphics/resolution would require a whole re-write of the game engine. Well, he'd better get started on that re-write because without a change in the tiny resolution, sprites and UI he is simply wasting his time putting any more effort into this game: it won't sell. Graphics generally are not that important to me, but this looks like something that should be played on an Amiga 500 in 1994 with the old Philips Monitor, not a modern PC, where 1080p monitors are the norm...but perhaps the dev is actually coding this on an Amiga 500 with the old Philips monitor in 1994!
In any case, the premise of the game is cool and I was digging the base building bit, which is reminiscent of the original UFO: Enemy Unknown base building mechanic: You build improvements in each square to provide resources for your guys etc...
The tactical part of it is pretty ropey with zero difficulty curve. Perhaps I need to send all my guys out on the first mission? Generally, I just send one as it's the first mission, simply a scavenging hunt and that should be a breeze, right? Wrong. My soldier dude is no match for two little spiders, he can't kill a frickin' baby deer and he gets cold, weak and downright lazy after about 2 turns. Also, there seems to be no escape except to fight once an enemy is on the same square as your little dude. Not very tactical, is it?
I want to like this game as I think there are some interesting ideas but it just comes off as too amateurish to warrant any more attention from me.
Dear Dev, get a free version of Unity and realise your ambition for this game. There is definitely a good game in here and I'm sure there is a market for it, but it needs to have proper resolution scaling and some game balance.
TL;DR It's a cheaper small 'This War of Mine' with potentially deeper combat which in reality is not very interesting.
I'll start with a deal breaker - it's unplayable due to screen resolution. Plays in tiny window and when scaling to full screen you have issues with mouse sensitivity. When it's fixed, it may become a nice game for a day or two.
Base building mechanics - each turn you assign people to build new facilities and sustain life, heal etc.
Tactics part - it's a simple TBS where you use explore map and use some abilities, and basically it's a risk assessment game as you may end up losing all your crew on an easy scavenging mission. Plays way too slow, it's not cool to go all the way back to starting square.

Highly addictive and quite refreshing. Good balance of base management and tactical combat. Fast playtroughs that make you want to play it all over again as soon as you finish your current again. Definitively worth the price tag, and more.
Have had my fun. And on that part I recommend it. As it was fun to play for a few hours. The price isn't high. So I think it's worth it's money. Clearly I'm also somewhat dissapointed. That's mainly because it's to short. Also if you find out the right way to play, it kinda gets easy.
I'm looking forward to this game getting bigger and getting more and harder challenges.
Screen resolution sucks. One small screen with no way in the game to change it. I see from the review before mine that there is a way to change it, but I have to go to the discussion boards to find it. No difficulty factors. I beat the game in 14 minutes. I know the game is inexpensive but still.
It's fun, but the screen is tiny (and unadjustable) and it's just too annoying to play.
This game surprised me - it plays like a roguelite board game, and the pixel tabletop aesthetic really helps it IMO.
It has a surprising amount of replay value and strategic depth, though it could be improved a lot too. It doesn't work full screen for me unless I press alt-enter, and it crashed a few times before I properly got it working. Some customization of soldiers would also be welcome even if it was just their names.
For the price I'd *definitely* recommend it to fans of strategy or rogue-lite, as you should find plenty of playtime in trying to survive.

this is a hit or miss type of game. while it lives to its name as a roguelike game, i dont find it as fun as ftl as such. tried giving it a chance, but i cant bother any longer. the battle and fight sequence is unforgiving.

The story starts off with your ship having malfunctioned and crashlanded to a snow-clad and hostile planet. Help is on it's way but with no nearby ship to evacuate the crew, the survivors will have to survive the hostile environment and the aggressive Xenos until help finally arrives.
The gameplay consists of basically two main parts, one is the base building and resource management phase and the other revolves around exploration and doing missions outside. First I will talk about the base building component. I just have to say that it's a good surprise to have this in a roguelike game as it changes how you would normally thrive in the other games in the same genre. The mechanic is a la the XCOM series where you build different components on each room at the cost of valuable resources. These rooms can be further upgraded to increase it's functionality, provided that you've amassed enough of the required resources. There is also a "Doomsday" meter (not sure what it's called exactly) that fills up slowly as each day passes by. Once it reaches 100, the local Xenos will initiate base invasion (I got a Game Over because of this since there's no chance for me to survive when I'm down to two crew member).
The resources I've mentioned consists of Food (for obvious reasons), Knowledge (required to build and craft advance components), Fuel (To heat up) and Tools (for building and crafting), Resources are scarce and vital for both maintenance of the crew and to build rooms.
The other part of the game consists of doing exploratory missions out of your crashed space ship either to salvage, to rescue other survivors (added to your crew if you're successful) or bounty hunting to lower the threat meter. The combat revolves around careful management of Stamina. In battle you can either choose to spend all of it to rush and kill the enemy in one swoop at the cost of slow regeneration afterwards, or take it slow and steady and ensure your crew have ample amount of stamina in case things go south. Of course, this is an arctic planet so the longer you're outside, the faster you'll lose your heat. Once it gets down to zero and your men will go down one by one. The best course of action is to get out, get what you need, get back ASAP.
Now that's all covered, I'm gonna mentioned the pros and cons of this game and hopefully it'll explain why I gave Link a thumbs down.

[*] The combat system is deep and highly rewarding once you've get the hang of it. The stamina system works wonderfully and it definitely stands out from the others.
[*] High amount of replayability. Before the start of each new game, you will be presented with a choice of goals that you would like to achieve during your run. For example, Survive 5 Turns, Kill 10 Enemies, Discover an Artifact, etc. Fulfill the initial goal and you will be rewarded Requisition points where you can use it to unlock different crews and their accompanying bonuses.
[*] Base building is fun! A welcome change of pace compared to the other roguelikes.
[*] Devs are active in the forum, answering questions and getting bug reports.

They say first impressions are a powerful thing and unfortunately, this game doesn't leave a good one for me.

[*] The biggest thing that got me is that the game doesn't support native widescreen support, or any other resolutions to boot! The default window is a small, I guess, around 800x600? Playing on a 32" inch TV, it's a chore to bring my head forward just to read what the description is saying. There's a fullscreen toggle available in the game but, first, it doesn't state that anywhere in the game. I have to check out the Discussion section to see what it is (it's Alt + Enter, btw). Secondly, the Fullscreen mode is basically just a stretch of the small window and the result is unbearably ugly and not to mention the side borders getting cropped. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy pixels aesthetic but this is just bad.
[*] The Settings page is bare with only sliders to sounds available. No Fullscreen, no key configurations, no nothing.
[*] Lack of any basic Steam functionality. There's no Overlay, no screenshots, no achievements, etc. The only thing available right now are the trading cards [strike]but I don't think they're released yet. Probably in the next couple of weeks or so.[/strike] It's available now. My Badge page must be bugged before.
[*] Keys are not remappable, nor are they shown to the player. As I've stated before, I wouldn't have known about the Fullscreen mode unless I checked out the Discussion and pressing F12 (to take a screenshot) immediately brings me back to the title screen!
[*] The game crashed on me once during the tutorial and according to the other complaints, I'm guessing there will be a lot more to come.. Fortunately some of these are already acknowledged by the devs and I hope it will be fixed in future updates.

I have high hopes for the game, and the devs seem committed too. I'm gonna wait until a few more updates and patches to roll in and I'll gladly jump into the game again and adjust my review accordingly. I'm confident that once the rough edges are smoothed out, Link will definitely be a contender for a hidden gem title. For now, I simply cannot recommend this unless roguelike and strategy games are your cup of tea, then by all means, go for it. For $5 you can't go wrong.

ok this game i do like however if you dont like games that is unforgiving at first then look at other games becues this is so unforginving untill you kown what your are doing that said..
i do like it sort of remindes me of xcom/ufo and the gfx style is ok for a 2d game :-)
and i will recomend that you will give it a try ( dont expert that this game is a 100 hour game.. its not )

This game is quite fun. Early on until you figure things out it can be a bit unforgiving but YOU get to choose what the win conditions are. This makes it FAR more bearable until you can figure out what you are doing. Once you do that there will be ways you want to build and prepare - and that is where it gets interesting.
The different characters you can unlock is what gives the game a lot of depth. One of the best Steam games I've DLed in quite some time and I really reccomend it!
This is an interesting little title. Link plays very much like a board game that varies based on 3 victory rules that you choose before starting a new game. Victory rules might include:
-Killing a ringleader
-Surving 15 rounds
-Caching 20 units of fuel
etc.
This adds a lot of variability to the game once you understand the core mechanics as your strategy to achieving all of the three victory rules (and ensure rescue) will determine your strategy.
Every game is a race against the clock. With each passing round your survivors will lose energy and heat and the increase threat of a base attack means that will have to be proactive with your strategy from the get-go. Do you hunker down, reasearch weapon tech and arm your survivors for a full on base attack? Or do you brave the surface of the alien planet to hunt down the native inhabitants in order to put off the inevitabilty of an invasion for a few more rounds?
This is an early access game and as such still has many bugs and glitches that crop up from time to time. For the most part it has not been too devastating or game breaking. Further, this game is very very difficult for the first five or ten rounds until you start to become more efficient with your round managament. In about 15 games I may win 4 or 5, depending on victory rules of course.
Further, won games grant you requistion points used to buy heros that have their own special abilities that bring a further layer of variability to your initial strategy. Heros may be robotics experts, commandos, leaders, rangers or mechanics- all with a unqiue skill set to offer.
There are many other features included like rescue missions, resource scavenging, reasearch and technology etc- more than I am willing to list for the sake of this mere thumbs up.
All in all I reccomend Link. It is a relaxing, albeit challenging little game with lots of replayability for the price.
A Turn-Based Rogue-Lite Base Building and Tactical Combat Survival Game!
The game is very rough from a technical standpoint but the core mechanics are a lot of fun. Especially the combat system with a very unique stamina system leads to a lot of interesting decisions.

Link is a fairly challenging turn-based strategy game. Balancing risk and reward, the game keeps you on a knife's edge. Do you send your tired survivors out to look for food, or rest them up, but risk starvation? Do you spend time sitting in the library gathering research points, or spend precious materials to build a pistol? Do you try for that last cache of supplies on the map, risking frostbite?
Each character in your crew can be used for one action a day. These vary from building new rooms or clearing away supplies, to crafting new tools or exploring outside of the ruined ship. Exploration outside moves you to a combat map were you explore for supplies and either evade or confront the native people who are intent on overwhelming your party. Characters gain experience and learn new skills, so losing a crew member is always a fearful possibility.
The game graphics are mainly static backgrounds and tokens that you drag across the screen. It plays much like a boardgame, and has some depth too the decisions you make. Fairly enjoyable experience for the cost, and the replayability is decent: successfully accomplishing your objectives (which you get to pick at the start of the game), gives you requisition points to unlock new crew members to start new games with.
Muy buen juego de estrategia, una especie de X-COM en 2D con el agregado del tema de la supervivencia de nuestro grupo. La dificultad al momento es muy alta (para mi) pero los desarrolladores ya dijeron que lo van a ir corrigiendo en los sucesivos parches que saquen. Pero fuera de eso, el concepto, el gameplay y la estética están muy bien realizados, y el manejo de nuestra colonia, tanto la base como los supervivientes, es sencillo pero con una enorme profundidad. Además tenemos un sistema de crafting y de mejora de la base que hace que con los recursos que vayamos encontrando en las distintas misiones podamos construir distintos items que nos faciliten la supervivencia.

I like a lot this turn-based strategy game. Each turn, you choose an action for each crew member, you can: create a room in the base or craft something (weapon, armor), or help a character with low stats to stay alive, giving him (her) food, heat or health in the appropriate room, or pick a mission and send one or more characters outside to find resources (there are also other types of missions). During a mission, the characters explore a map and fight enemies in turn-based combat. It's cold, so they can't stay outside for too long.
You have to manage the characters and the scarce resources, with the lurking menace of a base invasion that will happen in a determined number of turns. There are various strategies to try and things to learn, with rooms that can be upgraded and the characters who gain useful skills with experience. I like the retro pixel graphics. The interface reminds in some aspects a board game: in the base, to do an action, you slide a character token on a room and then make a choice in a menu. I appreciate this style and all works well so far. The tutorial teaches well the basics. In normal mode, you pick three goals (with various difficulty levels) and you succeed when you reach them. A successful run gives points to unlock more characters. So far, I played a few runs and I reached the easier goals. I will play more.
